20 Best Tick Repellent Clothing (2022 Updated)

We have used Sawyers Repellent-insecticide for years. We use it on all of our Cloths and all of our Camping Gear. Lasts for days. P. S. Great at home. We apply to our Trash Cans and its effective in our Recycle Bens too.

Been using it for years. Apply it to all my clothes and equipment, days before my trips. I use it a home in my trash containers and recycle Ben’s to repell insects. Won’t use anything else, ever!!!

The most incredible product to rid yourself of ticks in the wild. Works like it should. Way better than anything else tried. I would buy a case at a time if allowed.

This is a great tick repellant! We tried it for the first time this past weekend when we were hiking, camping and fishing in the woods. None of us had any ticks on us the entire weekend! I really like the pump applicator because one day was windy and I did not feel like the repellant was being blown into the wind verse being applied to our clothes.

Also, I like that it is unscented! If you love to be out in the woods, but fear ticks this is a great product to use!.

I haven’t really had a problem with ticks this year but the fleas and mosquitoes are deadly. I took this product on a hike down by the lake and it seemed to deter the Perry critters from biting me as much.

a few brave souls were left with a bad taste in their mouths. Great coverage. Easy to apply and dries quickly.

Being a family that works and plays in the forest, we have to keep informed on how bad the insect population is each warm season. The past two summers, following warm winters, have allowed the ticks to breed and thrive! There is nothing more horrifying than to raise up your tee shirt and see one of these little blood suckers burrowed into your stomach!! That was my first experience at having a tick and I was extremely disappointed because I had applied another deep woods brand of insect repellent and it obviously didn’t work.

Before the following weekend in the forest, I went out and read every bottle, tube of cream, organic concoction and every aerosol can on the shelves. Then I picked up “Repel Tick Defense. ” That weekend, my husband decided to use what was left of the other brand, while I sprayed myself and our daughter head to toe with the Repel Tick Defense.

My daughter and I were left alone by ticks, mosquitoes and biting flying critters but my husband didn’t fare so well, finding a tick on his chest, stomach and leg! Repel Tick Defense has a slight smell while it’s being applied, but doesn’t stay with you, making the product unscented.

It sprays easily, in a wide stream and even upside down. It’s safe for clothing, as well as under clothing. One aerosol can will last a family of four several camping trips, so it is cost effective, but who cares as long as the ticks stay away?! Follow the instructions and wash your hands afterward, it’s a wee bit awful if you get some in your mouth! We usually use hand cleansing wipes to wipe the palms of our hands and fingers, so we don’t wash all of the spray off.

It dries quickly, the can is lightweight and travels well in a backpack. This is the one product we are NEVER without it the summer. I recommend it to anyone from campers and hikers, to lake goers and families who have thicker back yards.

I ordered this product and received it in a very timely manner and I was excited to try it out right away. We live by the beach and with the summer in full effect so are the ticks! Before using this I would pick a minimum of 5 ticks off of us whenever we would go for a walk.

After using this product I haven’t found a single tick. Please follow directions on bottle. But I just would spray is down on ours clothes than head on out for our walk. This product gives me peace of mind when going outside!.

I saw this at the store back in the sporting goods and thought I should pick it up because the ticks are so bad here. I will definitely not recommend it. Works just as good as not spraying it on at all.

Makes me question the other products they have on the market.

The wrap definitely makes a difference. I get eaten alive by mosquitos every evening when I take the dogs out, and I wear the wrap around my waist to cover my legs. When I wear it, no bites. When I forget to grab it, bites within 5 minutes.

My only complaint is that the corners are not square, which is very obvious when folded up, but otherwise it’s cute and works as advertised. No smell, nice texture and drape, pretty color.

The Essential Wrap is the greatest invention. It allows me to enjoy the outdoors without fear of being eaten alive by mosquitos. And the best part is how pretty it is and how nice the lightweight fabric is.

I always take it to restaurants in case it is cold since it goes so well with everything. Love it!.

I saw an ad for this product and was skeptical (Is this a legit company? Does the product work?) but it’s actually great! I took the wrap on vacation to the south pacific and it worked! I didn’t realize it was working until I forgot it for one walk and came back with a dozen bites on my legs.

No bites any other day that I wore it. Hooray!.

My family loves hiking and camping, we mostly camp primative, so as a mom of 3 boys who love exploring its always scary thinking they ‘re going to get bitten by a tick so im always prepared with mosquito and tick repellents.

i loved the repel tick defense because its unscented and really light weight. so now they don’t complain about feeling sticky or being stinky i just wash their hands after. It works amazing keeping the mosquitos away.

It doesn’t stain clothing.

We live deep in the country and last year we were eaten up by ticks and fleas alike. Combined with the other products Repel has to offer has been lifesaving (coming from someone who has no indoor animals but had an indoor flea problem last year.

The best protection against mosquitoes. The first time I used it I made the mistake of only spraying my legs and not my thighs. By the end of the night, my legs were bite-free but unfortunately, my thighs had been attacked by the mosquitoes.

The next time I used it I sprayed it all over my legs and I am happy to report that I got no bites!!.

This is what you were looking for. Afraid of spiders in your tent? Spray beneath, around, and on top of your tent, especially by your entrance. Sick of getting bit by XYZ, spray your clothing. Research suggests that spraying your shoes/socks is best practice for mitigating bites, so give that a try.

It’s safe for dogs, so just keep it out their eyes and that’s easy tick prevention. Spray will continue to have effects for 6 weeks or until washed 6 times (that’s absurdly durable and long-lasting).

I also love the multi-cap (one for spray, one for storage) setup. Lastly, the price is solid for how much you can get out of this especially when comparing to alternative methods. Ultimately, yes, this is what you were looking for.

Just posted this on Facebook for my friends, along with a link to this product. With tick season in full swing, this stuff is indispensable. Hand up your outdoor duds, give a nice spraying over (just slightly wetted, no need to soak) and let it dry.

Ticks, chiggers and skeeter will expire pretty much on contact. I use it in my dog’s bedding (fleas/ticks) and around windows and ceiling lights (Asian lady stinker beetles, ya don’t want to know) and it is amazingly effective.

I think it is much better on the bedding than on the animals skin or collar. One application per season. Applications to clothes will survive several trips through the washer (I don’t wash my bushwacking trousers until they really need it).

Safe for birds and mammals. Bad for insects and marine invertebrates. I use it indoors, except for a spring spritz on my bluebird houses before the occupants show up. LET IT DRY BEFORE USING OR TOUCHING.

This stuff is magic. You know it’s magic when you realize halfway through a hike that you haven’t been bothered by mosquitos and ask yourself why that is before finally realizing that you sprayed this Sawyer Permethrin on your clothes a few weeks ago and totally forgot about it.

And later that evening you get back to your car or tent, check yourself for ticks, and breathe a sigh of relief that you don’t have to go digging for your tweezer kit. This stuff is just that great. I bought one bottle, sprayed down my clothes, and took them on a test drive on a hike that nearly has me tapping out every time because of the pesky little mosquitos buzzing in my ear; much to my surprise, it worked and kept the darn things away from me for the most peaceful hike I’ve had in a long time! I bought a second bottle just for the sake of treating my whole activewear wardrobe with this stuff, and now I get to look forward to all of my future mosquito-free hikes.

Bought my Mini here on buds(Great service as always). I was looking for something other than an AR-15 to go plinking with at the range and “truck” gun. Couldn’t have picked a better option as I love it.

The gun came in nowhere near close with the irons but after 20 rounds and I’ve got it. Rifle with 55gr is now giving me groupings around 1. 5MOA (1. 5″ at 100yrds) With irons and not benched. To me that’s good enough for my purposes.

My only complaint is while tuning in the irons the elevation adjustment was stuck and I stripped out the screwhead a little as whenever installed was far too tight. No biggie though. After 300rds I’ve had zero malfunctions and to the newcomer like me I was intimidated by disassembly but after a couple times I know I could reassemble blind folded.

Tip: besure to read the manual on ALL firearms of course but really study the iron sights adjustment as theyre a little tricky and you risk damaging the threads if done improperly.

Great Weapon, I have had a lot of fun with it. Before you go shoot, have a 5/64 hex Wrench and some lock tight with you. The rear sight became loose after two magazines and we did not have that size in either mine or my sons go bag tool kits.

I soldiered through but it would have greatly improved accuracy if the sight was not moving around! On a separate note, be careful what Payment method you use with Buds. I sent them an ACH transfer from my bank that was removed from my account and was completed in 24 hours.

Took Buds 11 days after that to get me my weapon. Cash in this case had NO Respect at all for Buds. I probably will not buy from them again for that reason.

I do not normally write reviews, however I was so impressed by Rynoskin that I had to spread the word. I am apparently a tick and chigger magnet, I have used every spray available and still end up with multiple tick and chigger bites after spring and summer days on our lease.

I purchased the pants and shirt and wore them as directed this past weekend. I spent 20 hours in the field working on feeders, hanging stands, and working on camp. I had so many deer ticks on my pants legs that I could not count them.

I did not have a single bite where the Rynoskin was, I did get a few bites on my hands that were unprotected but the Rynoskin performed flawlessly. I would not have believed these would have worked so well.

You do have to wear a shirt over these as they are thin and will tear if snagged but this is printed on the package. I am purchasing a second pair and if need be a third. If you hate being eaten alive by ticks and chiggers, buy these!.

I “borrowed” my husband’s Rynoskin pants a few times and loved them. We have a second home in an area in which there are lots of ticks and chiggers, and I don’t like having to use lots of chemical repellants.

These pants are very effective. Didn’t order a top for myself and regret it. I will be ordering a top as well. Can’t say enough good things about the effectiveness of this item, and it has the added enhancement of being made in the USA.

BUY IT – you won’t regret it. My one suggestion for improvement would be to provide some kind of chart that indicates what size someone should order. I’m 5’5″ and 145 lbs. and my husband is 6′ 4″ and weighs 175 lbs.

The large pants fit both of us.

If you want a quality product made in the USA buy the rynoskin it is a fantastic base layer that will not disapoint. With so many nasty insects out there that carry so many harmful diseases such as ticks chiggers and black flies you would be foolish not to buy rynoskin.

Our neighbor’s cat brought us fleas. (Really. ) I used the 22. 5 oz size to spray 2-pr socks, 3 long sleeved tees, and some pj bottoms. Used an old sheet as backing while spraying all clothing. After finishing the part of the sheet already exposed, less than half of the 22.

5 oz remained. Used the white sheet to examine clothes as I took them off. Also, stored clothes in sheet. Found dead or sick fleas. After 5 days, fleas gone. Vacuumed thoroughly daily. Me in much better frame of mind.

Used DEET repellent when not in treated clothing. I might have a slight sensitivity, especially to the freshly treated/dried clothing. The minor discomfort was definitely worth it.

This stuff is great! I bought it to repel ticks which were everywhere here. It was suggested to me by the internet man that said they sprayed it all over their working clothes and it stopped the ticks immediately and it will stay good for a couple washings.

I sprayed it on my hat, clothes and rubbed some on my skin and have no bites from any insects all summer. The first time in my life. Bugs still buzz around but don’t stay for long. A nice plus is that it doesn’t smell like most other repellents, it has an odor but it’s not bad.

To say this works is an understatement. I treated my clothes as directed and went from removing 20 ticks during a 2 – 3 hour work session in the woods and yard (I live in a rural area of Kentucky) to not a single tick, ever.

They absolutely seemed to avoid me completely. If I spotted one on my pants, for example, it was obviously heavily effected by the treatment. If you have ticks where you are or going o be I highly recommend this product!.

I buy these every year because I have not found anything else that is more durable. We have lots of deer ticks in our area. Both my husband and I have used these for years. They are effective at keeping bugs away.

(I also tuck my pants into my socks and put these over my pants. ) The only complaint I have is that they get little holes in them quite easily. I usually patch them up and continue to use them. I think it would be a much better product if the netting was more durable and didn’t tear so easily.

I love these bug baffler tick gaiters. My husband and I have used them for years and we feel a lot more protected from ticks when working outside. They do need to be replaced every so often as they can get small holes in them.

it would be nice if the material could be stronger. The white color makes it easy to see if there is a bug crawling on your leg. We have even put tape over the holes to get by with a pair for a little longer.

When they get too dirty I just wash the in the washer on the delicate cycle. They are worth every penny in protecting oneself from the bite of insects – especially ticks.

These are really good at keeping the bugs off my legs. In fact I wish there were some I could put on my arms. We live in western Virginia that is typically very humid, little wind and very buggy! They are holding up well even though I wear them most days.

They let the breeze get through to my legs so not too hot like pants. I suffer from grass awning disease so when those grasses are here in another month I’m hoping they will protect my legs from the itchy rashes I get from them.

They’re long enough to come over my knees so I can wear longish shorts with them as well as capris. My one complaint would be the cuff at the bottom is rather rough on bare ankles and I would have preferred a softer cotton knit as this appears to be polyester which somewhat irritates my ankles but I get around that by wearing cotton socks.

They are a bit of a hassle putting on and taking off.

Going on a Safari, dreamed of a pair of pants like this. Fit well, a little loose which I prefer. Actually made with bug repellent in the material! Light weight and will probably dry within 15 to 30 minutes after washing so will be perfect for continual day after day use.

Incredible that they are shorts and long pants at the same time. I’m tall and they go all the way to my ankles.

I recently bought these through used gear sale, I purchased size 2XL and 3XL, as typically REI clothes run small. I was extremely shocked that a 3XL was snug for me and is actually considered to be a size 16 according to the tag.

2XL is considered to be a size 14. I noticed these pants are limited in stock, but thought I would share my experience anyway.

I chose the size based on measurements provided, bu the fit was off and they were a bit small. Also the button on the waist was almost impossible to undo. Returned these.

We spend several months each year volunteering at a state park. The first time we volunteered as hosts, the volunteer coordinator suggested in our initial interview that we treat our clothes with Permethrin.

She had contracted Lyme disease in the past and encouraged us to take precautions since we would be working in the woods much of our stay. We took her advice then and have bought several cans since. We apply one can to about 3 – 4 outfits (shirts/pants/socks).

We have very few if any incidents of chiggers, ticks, and mosquitos which are prevalent in the park. The biggest selling point was watching a tick climb the pants leg of a friend who had sprayed his clothes.

The tick died and fell off before it made past his knee. We were sold. Since it is heat that degrades the performance of the treatment over time, we don’t put our treated clothes in the dryer to allow the treatment to last longer (about 5 – 6 weeks).

I would say we never work in the park without it, but we did make a mistake the first day back this year, meeting with park staff in untreated clothes. With the number of chigger bites after that one incident, we were kicking ourselves for being so careless.

Never again!.

Followed the directions on the can and completely sprayed pants, shirt and hat. Wore them a few days later and still got bitten by mosquitos. Applied it a 2nd time. Wore again several more days later and was being bitten yet again.

If it’s not stopping mosquitos after spraying on twice as much as called for then it’s useless. Went to Sawyer’s website and contacted them about the problem and no one ever replied even after waiting a very long time before writing this review.

Product doesn’t work and company ignores its customers. Ask yourself if that’s the sort of product/business you want to support with your hard earned dollars?!?!.

This worked pretty well keeping the (no-see- ums) from coming through the screen on our tent. We had a problem at the same campground the year before an the little bugs came in and ate us up. Last time we used this and found a mess of dead ones all around therscreens.

We slept better.

Whilst these are not the most durable outdoor trousers, that isn’t what they’re for. As lightweight convenient trousers for a range of outdoor activities they’re ideal. They fit very comfortably, move freely and you don’t get sweaty in them easily.

They don’t do well against brambles and other sharp objects. Other than that I’m entirely happy with them.

The size is a challenge! I took the advice of other reviewers and got a nice fit. There is elastic kind of uncomfortable just to the back of either side. Overall good fit. I wanted lighter weight fabric so I am not sure I will keep them.

I like pockets, and women’s wear is designed to be pretty, not functional, so these are my attempt to get the pockets I love having on long hikes. I love being able to access the leg pockets for snacks and my phone easily.

The best I have found in years. I hate the flat overly secured pockets that are trendy these days that won’t even hold my phone ( / camera). I need the other pant leg pocket for snacks. I am annoyed that women’s pant designs these days are low riders and while backpacking I prefer a pant waist to be a little higher to ride above my backpack hip belt.

I care about function, not being sexy on the trail. Really. I weigh 120 and am 5’8′ tall. I got 2 sizes bigger than should fit.

Comfortably fit. Fabrics offer good ventilation on par with my Mammut one. Plenty of pockets and some even have internal partition. It is rare to see a securable zippered pocket from pants of this kind.

Not to mention there is a detachable sealable dry-bag hidden in one of the pockets OOTB. The product page should have these features emphasized. It would be perfect if those non-zipped side pockets could be made a little deeper.

Can’t comment on its anti-insect capability yet. Overall I’m very satisfied with it.

If you are reading this you are probably aware that the mesh vests, especially XXL and XL have disappeared from the market. I finally bought two of these “Safety Vests” resigned to the fact that they would not provide the same level of coverage.

(nothing across the lower chest and abdomen) I would have been able to make them work if they had come close to fitting but compared to the mesh vest the XXL should rate XXXXL. No way I could use it on my dog.

Other than that the vest is sturdy and well made.

I have found, to my surprise, that this concept actually works, though with limitations. My guys are on a monthly treatment for heartworms/fleas which works very well. However, the oral treatment requires the flea actually bite before dying.

Although this eventually reduces the flea problem, I have found this insect shield treated tee to reduce the number of fleas staying on long enough to bite. The big plus is, of course, the reduction of mosquitoes and flies that hang around.

Here in the muggy South, we will probably always have a biting insect problem, but this fabric really does help keep them at bay from my guys, much like the repellent I use on my clothes. My yorkie has especially sensitive skin, which means she doesn’t tolerate sprays or oils directly on her skin.

This tee has been wonderful for her. The length of effectiveness seems to vary slightly among the tees, but they all have lasted several months including weekly laundering per instructions. (The performance is more effective than repelling collars, since they protect the length of the body instead of just the head.

) I can’t say about the impact on ticks, because luckily I haven’t had too much of a problem there. They do still pick up an occasional tick between the toes from our walks in the woods, butnothing on their bodies or heads.

Also, the ones on their feet so far have only been “fresh” and not deeply embedded. I think they may be dropping off voluntarily, but I’m not sure of this.

Great to have this protection for my dog during tick season. Every little bit of prevention helps. Fits, though this one runs a little small. I know from buying this exact item previously that sizing is inconsistent, even when buying direct from Insect Shield.

I sprayed my clothing the night before as the instructions described and let dry overnight. The next morning there was no smell on my clothing, I spent the day in the woods of Georgia, no bites, and not one tick or chigger was on me at the end of the day.

In all my years I have never had a product that worked that good.

Best insect spray I’ve used. Absolutely no ticks, mosquitos, spiders or flies of any kind in or around my hunting blinds.

I’m a Propane Transport Driver and I needed a long sleeve cover shirt to use while loading on the pipeline, perfect pick. Seems to be of great quality and comfortable. I usually have a t-shirt on underneath.

This shirt is extremely comfortable. Looks like a high quality item. Ordered through Bulwark and delivery was quick.

Nice quality shirt for women. I would order a size larger than you normally wear as they run a bit small. Otherwise I loved my shirt!

I recently purchased the SolAir Lightweight Pants and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The pants fit well and the material moves well with the body. I used them the other day on a 12 mile hike and they were great.

It is still late winter in the northeast, so I didn’t have a chance to test the insect repellant capabilities. As an aside, given the supply chain issues we have seen emerge with the coronavirus pandemic, it is truly a pleasure to buy from a company that creates its products from beginning to end here in America.

As a society we often reflect nostalgically on yesteryear when products were made in America. We have the ability to return to that level of domestic production. It is our job as citizens to support the companies who have this noble vision.

I bought my husband the insect shield SolAir lightweight pants. They are both so nice! The pants have a nice stretch to them for easy maneuvering. They really are lightweight which is great since we live in Oklahoma where it can be very hot early season whitetail and spring Turkey season.

My husband definitely wants more! Ticks are bad this year and he came back from Turkey hunting and didn’t have a single tick on him. I would definitely recommend this products, and I plan to buy him and myself more items from FORLOH.

I was able to really put the complete insect shield line to the test for my spring hunts this year. I had 2 ticks on me for the first weekend wearing clothing without the insect shield and the mosquitoes were insane! Once the insect shield top and bottom arrived that’s all I wore and intentionally sought out spots to sit where I would bet my bottom dollar I would have ticks and didn’t find one on me.

I went through thick brush to check the strength of materials and nothing ripped. I am super impressed with these items and highly recommend them to anyone hunting areas where these nuisance insects are an issue.

I even sat next to my dad in a few spots and he came out with ticks on him and I didn’t!!.

So we have a 5th grader who attracts mosquitoes like a magnet. And, will be in outdoor classrooms this school year because of the public health crisis. It has worked so well for the past few weeks!! It is both lightweight and sturdy and has washed really well.

Hung on the line to dry and it was good to go all week. This is going to be part of her regular gear.

This was a gift for a distant 4 year old grandchild for her birthday. She wasn’t too excited to get it but her hiking parents really liked it. Not sure how it’s holding up to its repellant quality yet on hikes though.

I would give it 5 stars if it does the job! I wish there were more choices of colors, especially for girls!.

Actually works and very sturdy material. Also purchased the adult version of this shirt-very satisfied.

These garments appear to be very well made- nicely finished. The shirts have an attention to detail I have not observed in other shirts intended for tropical wear (that includes Scotland and other peaty UK areas in summer!) I have not had a chance to put these shirts to the test, but the weave of the fabric is so fine that the average midge or mosquito would have a hard job getting through it.

I especially like the collars which can be buttoned tightly round the neck if necessary ;and the cuffs can be closely closed at the wrist. My only concern for the tops is that though the sleeves are long and cover one’s wrists /hands the neckline is lower than I expected which leaves the neck vulnerable and one would need a scarf/snood/ mossie net to cover that area.

My wife’s a go anywhere person but Insects used to bite her a lot and cause an allergic reaction. I’ve bought my wife Erin tops and other Craghoppers nosilife products and they have really reduced the problem.

Other products lose their anti-insect attributes after 50 washes or so. She finds Erins sun protection and perspiration wick properties provide comfort in style. I think its a pity we must wash them separately and that there are not many of the plain strong colours she likes.

She has navy, soft denim and desert rose, blue and red striped ones and an optic white useful beneath a shirt – but she’d like to see you produce an emerald or turquoise green one. As to value and quality – she wears them a lot but thanks to Covid 19 we’ve not had chance to test them on an expedition yet.

The lashes preform very well, I would recommend this brand to anyone who wants good quality lashes at a very good price. However when my packages arrive they are always in a box and have no bubble wrap and no tissue which cases them to move around and I’ve had trays come cracked.

Which I don’t appreciate as I know other lash techs wouldn’t either. So just beware on that, other than that like the said the lashes preform amazing and they look amazing.

This is very close to a perfect product, which is why I shop LL BEAN usually. When you buy BEAN, you know you’re getting quality and a product that has been tested, tried and thought out, even redesigned maybe a time or two, until they feel it’s the best they can do.

I took a chance on this, not knowing what to expect of a bug-repellent shirt, but I had confidence that if anyone had it right, it would be Beans. I am not only satisfied, but impressed. I live in the northern part of the Adirondack Mountains of NY, near the Lake Placid area, and I spend lots of time outdoors hiking, working around farm animals (veterinary assistant) and paddling.

The Adk mtns. are FAMOUS for bugs. If it flies and bites, we have it here! It’s a testament to the effectiveness of the shirt that I receive NO BITES while wearing this (on areas the shirt covers). I was hoping that it might ward of bugs going after my head, too but it doesn’t do that.

You’ll need a hat or better yet a bug net for over your face, which is what lots of us wear up here. I often wear XL because I’m a stocky guy (6’0″, 230lbs, broad shoulders) and this XL fit right off the rack.

Not baggy, but nice and loose for working or hiking in hot weather when a sweaty shirt might stick. Not here. The one change I would make is for the lower sleeves to be a tad roomier as I have kind of large forearms and sometimes have problems rolling up the sleeves.

With this shirt I can’t roll them up enough to use the built-in fasteners that make this into a short-sleeve shirt, but that’s no deal breaker. I have that problem sometimes, especially with EMS clothing and as it turns out, when I need protection from bugs I usually want my arms covered too, so no biggie.

The fabric felt in the store like it might feel a little artificial, synthetic or ‘plastic-ish’, but it feels great on the trail. Breathes very well on a hot day (when the bugs tend to be out) and doesn’t chaff or impede my shoulder/arm movement in any way.

I feels better when worn than it does to the hand on the rack. Don’t know how they do that but it works. I will buy more of these; you should, too!.

Nice shirt! I bought it for gardening. Not sure about the bug resistant material yet but the two zipped side pockets are a major plus and they aren’t mentioned in the description that I could find. I liked the other one I bought from Bean (Tropicwear Pro Stretch) a bit better but it only has one side zipped pocket along with two zipped chest pockets.

Both of these shirts have tabs to keep shelves rolled up when desired. This fit nicely but the button holes are a bear to undo. L. L. Bean needs to offer more colors or a variety, not just pastels. Many of us look terrible in these soft colors and don’t wear them even in spring or summer if we can help it.

I’m sick of having to compromise on this. It’s the same with all the women’s shirts offered on this site currently. I would have bought twice as much if I was able to find any t-shirts or over-shirts in earth tones.

I ordered three of these LL Bean sun shirts, and found this one the best–except for the miserably tight buttonholes. I told my husband I would send the shirt back to LL Bean to have the top button opened, and then returned to me, but after some work, he was able to free the button.

If I planned to button the shirt rather than wearing it open, I could not have kept it. So. what did I like? I like the two zippered pockets at the hip; I like the fit–large, but that doesn’t matter for my purposes–sunshield.

Like many other reviewers, I think the subdued color (“dark olive”) is attractive; there’s color, but it doesn’t insist on being the center of attention. And by the way, the “dark” olive isn’t at all dark.

And unlike the material on some LL Bean sun-block shirts I bought for my husband a couple of years ago, the material in this shirt feels better–not like cotton or linen (alas), but it’s not so plastic.
