20 Best Tiffin Lunch Box (2022 Updated)

I love my new lunchbox! I got the three tier. I love that it’s dishwasher safe – that’s a huge pro for me. It’s perfect to take my meal to the office for lunch. I like that I have three compartments.

A big part of me wishes it was somehow able to be microwave safe but at the same time the metal does keep my food quite warm still which is nice. The only issue because it’s brand new is the first few times it actually got stuck the very top compartment and was a struggle to open, which ended in some food spills haha but not a huge deal.

I feel better that I’m not using plastic, and trying to make small habits to do whats better. I also really am looking forward to taking it to restaurants or lunch spots for to-go option!.

I really like the lunch box. I like that it is stainless steel and easy cleaning, no plastic, will last forever! I just have a hard time fitting my containers inside it. I need to carry meals that do not require other containers.

I like to take meals sometimes that need reheating. I cannot reheat in stainless steel. I do love its simplicity and plan on planning lunches that work in it.

I was a little skeptical that this would work for me. I sometimes have issues tasting the metal my food touches and I didn’t know if the three compartments would match how I eat throughout the day. But it’s been amazing! No metal taste.

And I have been able to pack two small “meals” plus a healthy snack everyday. (Not that I don’t still snack the chocolate stashed in my drawer but now it’s not the WHOLE bar !) On top of it, they have been really easy to clean even for my very lazy at night self.

I wrote a review about this 4 years ago. We are still using the same lunch box and I’ve purchased 3 more as my 4 kids started school. I love love love it. As a teacher, I appreciate the ease of it. Children know what to eat when, and it promotes healthier eating since you can’t stuff it with wrapped goodies.

It’s the easiest lunch box doesn’t take up too much space (please don’t put it in another lunch box; I don’t know why people do that). They are easier to open now as my first review my son had a hard time closing the box.

But the new version is very easy. Cleaning is a breeze. I hand wash it always. The washing machine ruins things and these are pricey. Some may argue for the price it should be dishwasher dryer safe, but as with everything nothings made to last so I take the time to handle with care.

With 4 boys I’d rather pay a higher price for higher quality knowing they can use their hand me downs and it’s still in good condition. These are worth the price and the option to switch up hot and cold foods sold me too.

We currently own two of these lunch box already, one V1 and one V2. This is my 3rd purchase for this lunch box as I wanted to replace one of the v1 for the V2. Compared to the V1 it has improved a lot.

The cover is easier to open, the thermos fit anyway instead of the perfect fit required for the V1. Most importantly the rubber seal has Changed so that nothing is trapped in between to creat mold. It take very little time to clean and dry now.

It is such a time saver and worth the money to replace the V1. I love that they don’t need an additional outer layer bag to put their lunch box in. The lunch box is big enough to carry all their snacks and lunch for the day.

The kids love the lunch box and are so proud to carry it around.

I bought this for my extremely picky eater and it’s given us so many more options for her school packed lunch. I always make sure to warm the thermos part with boiling water first as that really helps to keep the food warm until lunch.

She’s had pasta dishes, rice dishes and thick soups so far. The lunch box as a whole can hold a good amount of food and I also bought the silicone snack pots which are great as they’re leak proof so you can use them for things like yoghurts.

It definitely worth the money and I’d definitely recommend. My only negative is that’s it’s a little chunkier/heavier than our other lunch boxes.

I have been looking for a simple yet high quality lunchbag, and this is the one. There are several compartments to place food or items in and the fabric of the bag seems very sturdy so that it can resist basic wear and tear.

If you are looking for a lunchbag with a flat design instead of the box design, I recommend this one. Unfortunately, it does’t hold tall containers well, so you should look for a design with more verticality if that is what you desire.

The lunch box that arrived does not have the zipper pulls with the ties on the ends, the zipper pulls are solid metal and gave “wild kin” on them. We were specifically looking for zipper pulls with holes or loops on them so we could securely close with a lock or other fastener so this lunch box does not satisfy as a substitute for the pictured item.

Disappointed. I will be calling tomorrow to attempt to return this to the seller.

For the price it’s small an lacking. It should have some plastic support to keep its shape and i wish it was a inch wider and 2 inches taller. It fits 2 pb&j (stacked on top of each other) sandwiches and a water bottle snugly.

For $17ish i coulda got a bigger one i was looking for this layout (not too tall so it fits in a refrigerator better) just more interior space.

The Lunchbox is now since approx. 1 month with us in use. It is absolutely leak-proof and does not allow liquids to escape, so my husband can transport his lunch to work without hesitation in his pocket.

The food remains fresh in the box and above all does not take on the taste of the packaging as with some plastic bread boxes. We would also prefer this stainless steel lunch box to a glass box, as it is much lighter than a glass box of the same size.

Absolute buy recommendation.

Time will tell whether the lunchbox is really leak proof but so far so good. I have baked (without the lid on of course), stored food in the fridge in the box and taken it out and about and really like the design where there is divider.

This does not prevent liquid from moving between the two sections but does keep eg salad separate from other food. I really like its versatility.

Size is perfect! Fits sandwich box, ice block(whatever you want to call it), two small snack containers & small milk. This design also has a mesh pocket that works great for napkins & utensils. Ooh and can’t forget about the snap buckle on the handle.

Love this feature for when the backpack is to full you can just clip on the out of the pack.

I got this bag because I needed a low profile lunch bag to fit in my backpack. This bag fit the bill and has enough room for a large tupperware container and a few small snacks. However, the zipper quality is less than desirable and often catches.

The fabric around the zipper has also started fraying. Otherwise, good lunch bag.

The lunchbox is better than I expected! The size is perfect for an individual and the material is wonderful. Overall, the quality and build is great. Highly recommend.

I’ve been wanting to get a bento box for packing lunches for a while now. I only have two qualms with this product; it scratches REALLY easily (just washing it for the first time with a sponge scratched it all up before I could even use the product) and I wish that both of the little dish separaters at the same time on the same level.

Other than that this product is one of my favorites and a must for your packed lunch dreams. If I’m nitpicking I also wish that there was a way to heat up the lunch while remaining in the bento box. But I just want to use the box for everything.

We love this mirror finished bento box and I got 3 – two for my kids and one for myself. I’d say it is more built for children due to the overall size. The fun smaller box inside makes it extra fun as well.

It is very sturdy and so shinny. The quality is awesome and it takes away the annoying metal sound you usually hear on cheap utensils and containers. It is a bit heavy for my toddler, but the quality makes up for it.

Note – it is not waterproof. Only dry lunch/food! I bought mine to the office and it received so much attention!.

This is nicely designed, if a bit petite. It will fit a modest sandwich and sides. For leafy salads or bulkier foods, another bento/tiffin would be better. But what really makes this a must-buy is the little container inside.

I use it for purse snacks, and it would also be great for a travel soap case. Its top fits its bottom snugly, so it isn’t likely to leak.

We have owned several bentgo boxes, starting with the bentgo kid. What I love about them is it makes packing lunch easy. The kids know, one section holds their protein, one their fruit, one their vegetable and one their grain.

It makes me confident that they can pack their own lunch and get a well balanced diet. The bentgo kids was the perfect size for kindergarten and below, but as we started to try to stuff whole sandwiches into it over time it eventually did crack and break.

So definitely size up rather than stuff it! Bentgo was great though and they do stand behind them for 2 years and replaced it since it was just under 2 years (they definitely aren’t flimsy but kids are tough on things!).

I love the bentgo fresh as it has plenty of room for my 2-4th graders, I even have been know to pack them more than they can eat in it. There have been 2 issues with the bentgo fresh, one has been the hinge on both of the two we own eventually broke when dropped just at the right angle.

Luckily my husband was able to fix both with baking soda and super glue which made me happy they didn’t end up in the land fill (I am sure bentgo would have helped us out with a replacement). And one of them has been going strong for over a year with this fix (the other was dropped recently).

To avoid this problem I am trying out the bentgo pop for my 3rd child. The hinges seem to be protected here so hopefully we won’t have to worry about them. And the second problem has been the dividers getting thrown away.

I love the divider and it seems to fit very snuggly, but somehow my children find a way to not come home with them. I do not know if they bang their food out when emptying them and they fall out, but unfortunately bentgo does not sell replacements.

Hopefully they will change this as they already sell replacements for utensils and other parts that easily wander away. Overall we have really enjoyed ours, they make school lunches easy and are great for traveling (car or plane) as they easily sit in their lap.

Hopefully my review helps others avoid a few of the hassles we had along the way!.

I got two of these to pack my daughter’s lunches in, and they are very good. They are sturdy and well made and it’s nice to have the different compartments. I would recommend them. That being said, there are a lot of areas where there could be minor improvements.

– The removable tray is dishwasher safe but the outer shell does not say that it is dishwasher safe. However the lid does come in contact with the food. This means that you still have to hand wash something.

You could put the outer shell in the dishwasher anyway but with the top and bottom attached together it is quite large. – The two clasps do not guide themselves into place, you have to press down on the lid so it is fully closed before snapping the clasps.

If you do not, they will go above the snap point and do nothing (though they will look closed). We often end up with one clasp properly locked and the other above the snap point. – The removable tray has “pockets” on both sides, obviously on the main side for the food but also on the reverse side as an effect of the manufacturing process.

This means that no matter which way you put it in the dishwasher, water (and food gunk) will fill up one set of pockets. – The way the external clamshell is designed the removable tray can almost fit in the bottom or the top or it can even almost fit rotated around, but the box will only close if the tray is in the 1 correct position.

This means that in the morning when you’re getting lunch packed and feeding kids breakfast, you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting the tray in the right way on your first try.

I recently purchased a two pack of the green/navy ice pack kid boxes. Although the ice pack is an amazing idea, I feel that there is a major design flaw. With both of my boxes the inner compartment (Ice pack and lunch tray) do not clip securely into the outer box.

We have a few bentgo boxes without ice packs and these always click in and never move around. I feel that this is because the lunch tray in the ice pack model is much thinner than in the original bentgo boxes and can bend and therefore pop out easily.

The fact that things do not stay clicked in also makes securing the lunch box closed challenging. The latch also pops open super easily. On a few occasions my daughter’s lunch has ended up all over her back pack which as you can imagine is very stressful for a kindergartener.

We have never had these concerns with our other bentgo boxes. Maybe with older kids these concerns would not be a problem. But for a 3 and 5 year old these concerns are difficult to overcome. I really wanted to love the ice pack boxes but given my many concerns the convenience is just not worth it.

The orginal Bentgo lunch box is far better quality in my opinion. Customer service was great! They understood my concerns and rectified the situation quickly.

I love this tiffin. I pack my partner’s lunch in it most days. It’s really roomy. Sometimes they can be small and you can’t fit a lot of food but that is not a problem here. It also has a super sturdy steel.

I’ve had clips break off of other tiffins that I have, but the design of this one prevents that from actually being able to happen. I also love that I can click it to any bag with a carabeener.

I bought this hoping for a container that would keep my food warm. It failed. I think my food would be just as warm in any basic container. I had even preheated the containers and put my food in piping hot.

In 4 hours the food was room temperature while in a thermal cooler at room temperature. However, the set is a serviceable size. Portable and appears sturdy. It would be fine with foods that weren’t expected to be eaten hot.

Easy to clean, refrigerate, and carry. Servers are always way impressed when we bring ours to the table. the compartments fit 3 kinds of food, and are beg enough yto hold both our leftovers. It would be nice to have a place to put sauces.

Received my stainless steel tiffin promptly and was total satisfied with the quality and sleek design. Makes a great picnic accessory and storage for those left over food item. Easy to wash.

I really like this Tiffin. However, I didn’t use it much because it is not microwavable and most of my lunches include food that requires warming. It is cute and worth the purchase.

I completely understand why these have been popular in India for so long. It is easy to clean and portable all while maintaining a minimally elegant design. The only design improvement I can think of is including a thin layer in between each container so food remains covered if you want to access only one container.

Also this would prevent any potential debris from a table getting into did when you reassemble it.

These tiffins are great! It is so nice to be able to prepare lunch for work and have everything separated into leak proof sections. My kids like to use the middle container as a bowl. I bought 2 of the 3 section tiffins and 2 of the 2 section tiffins, that way everyone in the house can use them as they see fit.

It is great to be able to throw them in the dishwasher. The best part is that they are non-toxic stainless steel!.

The stainless steel lunchbox has been with me almost every day since it was delivered to my office. The size is ideal for my lunch ration. For small things there is still the extra socket. Optimum cleaning in the dishwasher and timeless design.

Only the clamps are not optimal. One often comes loose. The lid is still tight, therefore only one dot of trigger.

It is the standard size that most of these style boxes come in. We were happy with it so bought another for this coming school year!.

Needed an insulated soft lunch box for motorcycle rides. Saw this one and liked it. Nice and small but the trade off is thinner insulation so in hot weather even with two small blue ice packs things dont stay cold all day.

But for 4 to 6 hours its fine. Overall for what I use it for Id recommend it.

I waited so long to buy this because of the price- but after searching everywhere and only being disappointed I finally gave in— and got exactly what I wanted! My elementary school kids don’t eat a traditional sandwich for lunch, but rather an assortment of various whole foods: nuts/seeds, cheeses, meats, veggies, and fruits.

So we needed something with many separate compartments. I wanted stainless steel for durability, health/safety, and longevity/sustainability. And I wanted one unit instead of a bunch of containers, since I’d be cleaning these every day.

That’s exactly what the rover is! It 100% fits all our needs and wants. If they do eat a sandwich, it fits in the big compartment; otherwise they put roll-ups, string cheese, nut butter packs, baby carrots, seaweed squares, coconut chips, etc.

wherever they fit. For rounder fruits like cucumbers/apples/pears, I cut them up first. The tiny compartment in the middle is really just bonus- I’ll put in some pumpkin seeds, cacao nibs, or a square of dark chocolate.

We’ll use the Big Dipper if they want to take yogurt. It fits just enough to make a small serving. The lid is very thick and soft, and has never leaked. We’ve been using these several months now. One of these boxes fits plenty of food for an always hungry kid for the school day (including both lunch and snack, which for some reason is a thing now).

The quality is solid and they’re so quick and easy to hand wash- which was very important to me! Note: we dropped one on our tile floor and it loosened the clasp- but I immediately found a video from Planetbox online on how to bend it back- and that fixed the issue for us easily.

They’re big so we did need to purchase the Planetbox carry bags as well, but they’re not heavy- my first grader has no issues. We were also able to fit our existing freezer packs in the carry bags, and the food stays fresh.

Basically, this thing is exactly as advertised- if it looks perfect for your needs, don’t hesitate- you’ll love it.

I had heard amazing things about these for years from friends in my area, but the price always deterred me. Finally, this year with 30% off, I gave in and ordered two of these for my two youngest (ages 6 and 2) as well a different version for my (12 yo).

I never thought to check the dimensions specifically—every lunch box insert or bento box (and we’ve tried quite a few) we’ve ever had has fit into a standard reusable lunch cooler bag. Upon receiving the boxes the sturdiness was impressive, but I was annoyed to find that they were awkwardly long and did not fit into the standard lunch bag.

The first day with the planetbox, I sent my kids to school with the box in their hands (without an ice pack). My son was very disappointed he couldn’t us his newly purchased Sonic lunch bag, and both of my kids came home saying that some of their food had gone bad without an ice pack.

My son even said that a boy in his class had called him disgusting because of his lunch. I still wanted to love them, and asked friends what they used for bags. That’s when I learned you either have to use PlanetBox bags or scour the internet for an uncommonly large lunch bag.

Not only did I have to spend $40+ (on sale?!) on a bento box, I needed to spend another $25 (on sale?!) on a bag? For the incredibly steep price, I am more than a little disappointed. And now I have to figure out whether I’m going to spend over $75 on new bags, or consider it a sunk cost and figure out something else.

I like that these are stamped stainless, so they don’t have weld seams in the food area to collect debris. I like that they’re fully stainless. I don’t like that the little cups and such don’t fit “anywhere” — because of the way the lid closes, and the 2 medium rectangles in the tray aren’t the same sizes as eachother, some of the containers only fit in the bins farther from the hinges.

I don’t like that the lid doesn’t fully or even close to seal. I’d be totally happy if there were a silicon gasket or seal to keep stuff at least a bit more contained. The other day my kid didn’t eat the pink part of her burrito because the moisture from o condensation on a cold item leaked into the dried strawberries and then turned everything pink.

I don’t like that the kid is permanently attached. If they did 2 clasps instead of hinge+clasp, then it would be better. Or a lid with hinges that are removable once opened. As it is, the tray takes up a lot of space on the lunch table.

And more than once has dragged the tray off the side of the table. Small nitpick but we have multiple sets of the labeling magnets. And we let the kid mix and match them. But they didn’t standardize on which of the shapes the kid’s name gets written on (sometimes it’s on the small rectangle sometimes on the medium rectangle etc).

So depending on which she picks, her name may not be on the box (or may be there twice).

I love everything about it, I just wish that the small removable divider that comes in the main compartment had some sort of tight seal to separate foods a little better. Now I can bring hot and cold elements to work and heat what needs to be heated separately and conveniently – which is exactly what I was looking for! Also for anyone who is worried about spillage, I pack this lunch box on its side in my backpack most days and haven’t had any leaks.

The lid has quite a good seal and the strap is very secure.

Seriously this lunchbox is a game changer! It allows me to bring my lunch instead of buying it and the snap strap ensures nothing spills. It fits perfectly in my bag and allows me to bring both lunch and dessert with its many compartments.

You need this lunch box- 100% recommend!!.

I love this container. It is perfect for a big salad and a slice of quiche and even some snacks. I work 12 hours shifts and with this I only have to take one container for my food for the day. I will definitely be ordering more!.

Love the overall look of the lunch box because of the red color and simple style. My son didn’t want a character type, he’s growing up. Very disappointed in the size of the box. Great style, but needs to be at least 2 inches deeper to fit a food container and cooler pack.

Bought this for my six year old son’s lunch. Zipper on his last one didn’t make it through the school year but this one seems made better. It fits perfectly in his backpack and is his favorite orange color.

First love the print! And I really needed a everyday lunch box so I love the adjustable strap and the sturdy top handle. At first when I opened it up I thought it maybe quite small but the top off the lid has extra space for drinks and snacks so it’s nice for if you wanna bring a sandwich but you dont want to crush it you can keep your soft food separate from your heavy containers.

Over all I really enjoy the layout of this lunch bag very convenient to use.

What an awesome little bag. 10 YO loves it! Thick and durable. Insulated. Passed the cutesy type lunch boxes. This one worked out perfect for 5th grader. Fits perfectly in his backpack. Lunchbox ahas room for two kids thermos’, bag chips, ice pack, caprisuns and snack.

Purchased for my 3rd grader!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT. He loves that Theres so much space and allows him to not have to Sacrifice any of his favorite snacks or drinks because of size restrictions, like Other character lunch bags.

I bought Baldwin Boxer lunchboxes for my two adult daughters. They are so cute! They look like little purses. I filled them with goodies and gave them to them as “Easter baskets. ” My daughters were delighted.

The only downside is that the lunchboxes are not very deep, so, although they can hold quite a bit, you might have to buy some new containers to fit inside. I bought cream lunchboxes, because the dimensions in the description online were larger than the other colors, but the cream ones I got were just the same size as the other colors.

Overall, though, I was very pleased with the purchase.

This is such a well designed roomy lunchbox. I have been trying to bring my lunch to work and this lunchbox is so “fancy” that it makes whatever I have feel more elegant. If presentation matters to you where food is concerned this makes the most boring leftovers or brown bag lunch feel special.

You lunch is a treat to open up. Super happy with this purchase. This bag makes me want to pack and bring a lunch! The outside pocket is great for my breakfast or snack bar. The inner pocket keeps my small items from being crushed by my larger items.

This lunchbox has kept my lunch cool even with a small ice pack. It holds a variety of sized items and is easy to load and unload. Makes packing and clean up easy. Other lunch sacks seem to be a dark hole when trying to clean or to tiny to use for most lunches I want to pack.

I have the blue alligator pattern, that has held up well in the past few weeks I have owned it. The waterborne strap is awesome! Helps me stay hydrated, but not having to juggle a ton of stuff. I have an extra large bottle that hangs over the edges a little, but not in a way that makes the bag difficult to carry, nor crushed my lunch.

Although this lunch bag is nice to look at, the quality, ability to maintain a cool temperature, and durability of the material are all poor. We considered returning it, only to learn the company only accepts returns in new and unused condition.

How are you suppose to know how a product functions before even taking it out of the package? Have several other low cost big box store bags that kept lunch much much cooler and had more room. Even purchased their branded ice pack, so can’t say I’m using something that’s inferior ice wise.

I’ll pass on anymore of their products and would not recommend.

It is ok – the lid doesn’t sit on firmly as it solely relies on the giant ‘rubber band’ that doesn’t really fit well either. Also, a sandwich or wrap with a few fillings is too high to sit under the top tray.

Great idea to add variety to your snacks and lunch at work as well as save money by not having to buy each day. Love the separate compartments.

Love this product. Good quality and my lunch fits in perfectly. The cutlery is very handy too.
