20 Best Time Lapse Slider (2022 Updated)

I purchased this on sale hoping to use it with my Sony A7Siii on professional shoots. 1. The nut doesn’t spin so getting the camera tight and positioned correctly, something that should be simple, was difficult.

2. The control does not allow you to change the direction of the camera. That must be done by adjusting the roll bar. Again, you can to physically mess with the unit, after it’s all setup, to make a simple change.

3. There is no stop on the motor. It just keeps running against the edge, making a loud noise. You can fix this if you manually set the stop points, but there is no max point. You just get it close enough.

4. The motor is not quiet. On most shoots, this will too loud and will be picked up by any shotgun mic. 5. Once you get everything setup, the loop function only works when it wants to. You never really know if you’re going to have a loop or if it will stop at the stop point.

Nice toy. Not for pros.

I bought this slider after I was convinced that it will be way smoother than my SliderPLUS Pro Long and it will be great for macro photography. That may be true, but only for light cameras. As with every other edelkrone product before, it’s not smooth when I put my RED on it.

I only buy the „Pro“ products, because they are made for heavy setups. But it seems they are just not good enough. There is always jittering in my footage. There must be a reason that other manufacturers charge more for their heavyweight setups.

I really hoped this time I would be satisfied with edelkrone, but they are just not made for heavy cameras. Too bad.

So around 20% and 80% through, mine has a little hiccup, so I’ll have to put a SmoothCam effect on there so you don’t see the little bump. Not very pleased with that. The length I feel is fine, you only use a couple seconds of a slide anyway.

The speed is to be desired however, it’s a hair too slow. Now, I think if you’re going to do Tim-lapses, this would be the way to go, but for a straight video slide, I’ld go with something else.

I found that for video recording the motor steps are not smooth and made noise and also shook the camera some. All but one of the video tools I used to deshake the video surprisingly made it even worse.

I had it powered with a wall wart and had the battery installed as well in case there was a power outage. To my surprise, the battery disconnects the external power, so it ran out of battery power in the middle of the video and stopped working even though external power was available.

The display on the handheld controller uses a pale yellow vs white on the lettering to show selection which makes it hard to see what was selected. I like the rails and how you can adjust the turn of the camera.

I am going to build my own circuit to control this thing properly.

This slider works as intended. It’s perfect for adding a little production quality to your videos. That said, there seems to be a bit of play between the rail and the wheels causing the footage to look wobbly sometimes.

Other times it’s just fine. Not really sure how to make that any better. It’s convenient because it’s only 2 pieces, the whole slider, and the remote. Sometimes even at full charge the remote says it’s only half charged, but it still lasts as long as a full charge.

When mounting this on a couple tripods I noticed the clearance for a quick plate is close. There’s a possibility some quick plates won’t fit on the left or right side, because of how close the holes are cut to the frame.

Camera weight is sufficient for my needs (8 lbs) but I don’t believe it could hold much more without some shaking or jerking. The motor start and end points have to be set every time it is powered on.

There’s no memory at all. The time lapse function seems overly complicated but that’s probably just me to be honest. This is a product that technically does what it says it does. It’s a motor on a rail that goes in a direction.

It does it’s job in varying degrees of precision. Do I recommend it? Probably not. Spend a little extra money and get one with two rails, pan, and a sturdier frame.

I purchased this slider for a project I was working on, and I’m really happy with it. I don’t use a slider enough to justify the price of a more expensive slider, so this GVM slider did the trick. Just keep in mind, if you want the panning effect that the Carbon Fiber slider does, the aluminum version doesn’t do that.

The slider is super silent, even on the highest setting, and the carrying case is really nice. I find that being 23, I can easily fit this slider on one single tripod instead of spreading it between two like I would have to do with a longer slider.

I am a youtuber and was looking to expand my b-roll shots and add dimension to my talking head videos. I did a lot of research before arriving at GVM slider. It seemed to be the best bang for the buck.

I have used it now for around 2 years with no issues, but now my shots started getting a bit more complex (doing tracking shots) and noticed the head was a little loose. Being 2 years old I knew it wasn’t under warranty but I reached out to their customer service and offered to buy the part.

They processed the whole thing and simply sent me out a new one under warranty WOW. In this day and age where companies go out of their way to avoid warranty coverage, this company was exactly the opposite.

It was refreshing and reassuring that I made the right choice. Well done GVM. Great product, even better service.

This item had so many sketchy reviews, I almost didn’t buy it, but I’m glad I did. First of all, this slider is extremely quiet. I used it in a recording studio last night to record a jazz quartet and even the sensitive condenser mics didn’t pick up any noise from the unit.

Also it’s built like a tank and I recommend mounting it on two strong light stands for trouble free, rigid operation. Mounting it in the center with a typical tripod doesn’t make sense because tripods are designed to support weight along their central axis, not two feet away.

The torque created by weight of your camera two feet away from the center of the slider will cause it to sag. This is not a shortcoming of the slider, it’s basic physics. People also complained about the fact that the remote’s memory is volatile, meaning that every time it is powered off, it loses any changes you may have made to it.

This sounds far worse than it is. In my experience, most of the time I turn the slider on, adjust the speed with the up/down buttons and use the right/left buttons to move the slider, without the need for setting any stop points.

When I do set up the stop points, it takes about two minutes. Then I can set it up for timelapses or to slowly go back and forth, which can be great movement for a second camera. I was even pleasantly surprised that the slider came with two batteries.

I guess I didn’t notice that when I initially looked at the description. While I appreciate the inclusion of the batteries, I would have preferred perhaps just one battery along with a power adapter so I can plug up when I have access to AC.

I’ll be ordering a power adapter soon. This slider is a game changer. I’d give it six stars if I could.

I purchased the HeadONE with the Edelkrone’s SliderONE v2. First, the headONE is too jump to use with manual inputs with the app, so you have to pre-program a pose and glide to and from the different poses.

Unfortunately, my poses never are remembered correctly. Maybe 1 out of 5 attempts will the poses be correct. It used to work more often but now is pretty worthless since I have to use it manually and it unusable with manual inputs.

The slider is great since that still works with manual inputs but I wish the app would let you control the speed sensitivity when adjusting it manually. Firmware updates take 18 minutes, and it does struggle a bit with heavier gear.

By heavy gear, I’m talking a Nikon Z6 with a Z 50mm (not that heavy). It might be the last firmware update that has made mine almost unusable, but overall this is not a good or reliable product.

I teach animation and visual effects at the University and I’m amazed by the HeadONE–so much so that I bought another, along with the tilt pan bracket as well! The build quality is perfect, and I’ve used it for visual effects shots already–the frame-accurate repeatable motion of Edelkrone products.

I’ve been waiting for years for someone to come up with an affordable motion-control system for visual effects, and all of our tests thus far have been outstanding. Good job building a quality, reliable product! I look forward to many more experiments :).

Extremely high-quality and I love the app that powers it. It is very well thought out and built system. BUT, I needed it as a variable display rotation, as described in sales description and purchased the turntables for it, as I need to photograph motion video of product for web sales.

The videos I saw and the printed instructions don’t give me what I need. I was able to use the app button and set my tripod a video camera on record and control it that way, but I needed to rack focus and zoom and do not possess enough hands to accomplish that.

It seems the system has the ability to handle focus on several separate points but it’s not easily clear what I need to purchase, what level are models my cameras need to be, how to make it all work.

The team that designed and created this I am certain Kan come up with this information, but I was tempted to return it but I needed to record some things immediately.

At first there were a couple hiccups but Cinetics backed their product 100% with outstanding customer support and ironed out the issues with little to no delay. Not many companies out there will go the distance like Cinetics did.

This is not only is a slider with a 3rd axis. It also moves vertical within the weight limits which lifts most good lenses and mirrorless/dslr cameras on the market. I have had some slight shakes in the downward motion, but the footage was easily fixed in post with a stabilaztion filter.

Other than that it is butter smooth. It has variable speed settings, but the faster it moves the noisier it gets. It is near silent while moving slowly. Underneath it has multiple 3/8 female screw holes for an array of mounting options and comes with extension rails that will get you to 48 inches long.

Most companies make you pay extra for those. Although you may need to do some light sanding where the two sets of rails connect. It’s easy to set up and break down. It’s probably not best for long day run and gun situations.

Once mounted on a tripod and head, it gets pretty heavy. I do advise getting a robust tripod and head if you are just going to mount it directly on a single tripod along with Kessler Crane Kwik Release Receivers and plates to make it easier.

The menus in the control box are pretty straight forward, but I wish it came with some sort of instruction manual instead of a sheet saying go to this web site to show you how to put together. While doing time-lapses it is best when the camera is not in auto focus, as it won’t fire if it has to focus.

The slider and camera are only as smart as you program them to be, and their settings have to coincide with each other. It does take some practice. Some of the back and forth with Cinetics could of been avoided with proper instructions.

It also has a mobile app but isn’t the most user friendly. Sometimes the app takes some time to connect with the slider, but once it is connected it’s fine. It would be nice if the save programs you create on the box could transfer to the app and vise versa.

I believe you can only save 3 extra custom programs. It comes with 3 but I’m not sure if you can over write those. Overall the app works as a good second option, but can use some improves. Its good to have when its dark out especially on a larger screen than the controller box.

I had some issues with the head crashing into the slide motor because there is no fail safe if the home position isn’t set right in the program. If something changes in the program the head will not know where it’s position is on slider and go hay wire.

It’s best to just redo the program over from scratch if you want to change something. This is another thing where a written manual could help. I wish it had a slider cart locking mechanism when it is doesn’t have the belt and motors attached.

That would help if I wanted a simple slider for quick shots at an event. The tilt and pan head has and acra swiss plate and it’s own carrying case, but doesn’t fit in the case with the rest of the slider and motors.

The pan and tilt head can be used on it’s own as long as the controller box is connected. Over all I’m happy with this slider and will probably have it for some time. It is well built and seems like it can stand the tests of time.

When and if you do buy it, test it out throughly upon receiving it. Don’t expect it to work flawlessly the first time out of the box. It may take some time to set it up the way you want it. Once set, its great!.

This linear drive is compact and well designed. One cannot review this product alone, the apps is part of it. Without the apps, it does not work. The joystick to move the unit on the track works fine when the apps is not connected.

Wish it will work even when connected. The drive with the rope seems to work fine but I have not been able to find a way to make it run very smooth – there is a little jerking from time to time even with the track on solid ground, clean track/wheel etc.

I am still fighting the apps. Not sure if it’s my tablet or the apps itself but it tends to freeze and then unable to adjust any parameters. I have to close it and restart. Setting up a programmed movement is not too difficult unless you have the pan and the linear unit together.

Then it’s a different story because one setting may go against the other setting. Finding out that I cannot change a parameter on one unit because of the limitation of the other unit (speed). There is no warning – for sure new release will improve with time.

Still need to continue to learn how to use it to its best but got some nice recording done. This is not a toy for the technically challenge person, believe me.

This is a time lapse camera combining early 2000 camara phone tech with large storage capacity. Ultimately its not easy to set up the pictures are grainy and I have no idea how if you can take the time stamp off the bottom of the video but wish you could as it makes the footage look like its from a corner shop camera.

I love this camera. I’ve been learning as much as I can about time lapse photography. It’s a perfect way to keep busy while staying home. I’ve been very pleased with what I’ve recorded so far. I’m still trying to figure out how to capture some things that remain elusive.

But I’ve got the time to figure it out! It is very easy to set up, record, and upload the video. I’m hoping to capture the penumbra lunar eclipse on July 4th.

I HAVE OVER 100 VIDS FROM THIS CAMERA AND THE VIDS COME OUT SHARP AND CLEAR EVEN AT NIGHT. IT HAS SEVERAL SETTINGS. I USE THE TIMER OFTEN, I SET IT TO CATCH THE SUNSET EVERY EVENING AND IT WILL DO THIS CONTINUOUSLY AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY.

Quick shipping and international delivery from UPS. The SliderPLUS v5 Pro Compact is reassuringly sturdy with a well-considered design and fits easily into my tripod bag. It’s 11Kg on-tripod limit means it takes a hefty Sachtler slider adapter base and fluid head plus fully rigged camera, cine lens and monitor with ease giving a stable and very usable platform.

My only criticism, hence knocking 1 star off, is a slight change in resistance when sliding over the lower cartridge regardless of load (even unloaded) which is a shame but knowing its there is manageable and the SteadyModule helps to some degree.

I use the long pro slider, with the head one and my camera. The sliding is smooth, but on a tripod the slider bends after 4 inches out from the tripod head, giving all of my footage a bend to it. Was very disappointed to find this to be the case as the slider should be able to hold 10lb, and my camera and head one is only 4.

8. If your using the slider on a table it’s great with all 4 legs, but for travelling work (the reason I bought it) it’s much less functional in my opinion. Unless I happened to get a defunct model.

I had a slider from another manufacturer. This is, hands down, a far nicer unit, on a scale of magnitude. The build quality, manufacturing quality and user friendly design and functionality are great.

I’m totally enamored with Edelkrone and plan to add additional Edelkrone projects to fill out my motion photography/videography platform.

The product idea is great. Unfortunately mine kinks (stops and jerks) when turning left to right, ruining the video footage. And in ice cold temperatures it just stops when using it at a 90 degree angle (up and down).

This is with a light GoPro Hero Session (cube) camera attached. Looks like I need to upgrade and give this one to my kids for TikToks.

I only do YouTube so all my sound comes from a console. The smoothness is wonderful for such an inexpensive gadget! Love it, great buy and useful to my arsenal!

Whilst it is possible to create time-lapse videos using a digital camera or smartphone you will need the right additional software and a lot of patience. This camera is a plug and play solution to all that fuss.

You literally put the batteries and supplied SD card in, switch it on and point it at what you want to record. Then, when youve recorded the event, switch off, put the card in a reader and view a complete time-lapse video ready made for you! You can go into the menu on the camera to select frame rate, number of shots etc, with a handy guide in the instructions booklet to optimise the settings depending on what event you want to record and how long you want your video to be, but its simple to follow and the results look good.

An advanced menu allows you to vary things like white balance and focus for a truly personalised video, but the defaults are fine for most situations. Overall this is, for the price, the best solution for creating your own time-lapse record of projects etc.

Great for the small business looking to create professional-looking videos of their work. Why pay a video-making company to do what you can do yourself? I received quotes for creating a time-lapse video of a house-build which were 3 or 4 times the price of this camera! For us it was a no-brainer.

Its a really good product, it is helping me record the Million dollar construction project. Every detail is accurate and the important point to note is that the battery seems to last longer than other time lapse camera.

I love the the functionality of this camera. After my last one was stolen from my house (dodgy roofers that didn’t like to footage I took of their dodgy work!) I really missed it and bought another one.

This time I got the clamp attachment and I think it was worth it as it really gives you the flexibility for secure attachment to a range of posts/poles.

5 stars for the function, it all worked right away. You have to deal a little with the registrations and group formations of the Apps but after 30 min everything went. The device itself makes a finished impression and has a light indicator for the wireless connection.

the description was accurate, the units work flawlessly out of the box, only thing you have to remember is there is a little unmarked on-off switch in the transmitter. Remember to turn on the transmitter and the receivers.

Transmitter does not need batteries, so less batteries to carry, however I have not checked transmitter distance. Spec says 30m, which should be plenty for most shoots. Only thing better would be a flashguns with built in slave and master, but I had old flashes and it works perfectly with them.

I am to old and decrepit to video outdoors now So i am trying table top filming ,up to now its working fine ,makes my films more interesting just need more practice.

Definitely not high definition. Standard at best and the colors not good. Otherwise it sort of works. It will be ok for situation not requiring good definition and decent color composition, it is inexpensive and can be used to let you know about what you really want in an time delay camera.

Easy to set up. Good clear images. Does pretty much what it says it does. It does require you to have a card-reader (not included) connected (USB) to your PC ( or other device) to view the video. Videos are very good.

We set up for one image per minute. A three day time -lapse then produces a video of a few minutes. Very practical. Amateur and happy user.

Nice simple camera to use for beginners. Image quality could be better, but guess helps keep file sizes down for longer projects

We have purchased this product a few months ago and it have had some great use out of it. The build quality is amazing, and it works really well. It has definitely boosted our production value and it is worth purchasing.

What is even better is the team behind Edelkrone, Gokcen and the support team have been amazing. Very prompt in their responses and keen to resolve the issues that we had presented. Great company which we would definitely purchase from again.

Y’all impressed me with this one. Very happy with how it handles the weight of my camera and two headones, even on an incline. In the future, I’d like to see the slide module be capable of operating at an angle greater than just 22.

5 degrees. You say the module gives some tasty inclines. I’m wanting some delicious inclines.

Taking this out of the box, it was larger than I anticipated. Nonetheless, it worked really well. Pairing with the edelkrone app (on Android) was straightforward and I was up and running in no time. My only complaint would be that when set to move at maximum speed, the whir of the motor becomes very obvious.

Not really a deal-breaker if using doing audio in post-production, but it’s worth noting. Bottmom line, I like my edelkrone products (I bought the SliderPLUS Long with this).

You know the feeling when you’ve researched competing products for weeks and you end up in a daze not feeling confident about which one to choose? This was me researching sliders. I finally pulled the trigger on Syrp, which surprisingly doesn’t get as much coverage as other products on YT.

The Magic Carpet slider, even without the motorized components, is beautiful, weighty, smooth and I can buy extensions later as the need arises. I have the 3-axis motorized modules but most of the time I’m using the slider manually with a fluid head and flywheel activated (the flywheel being hidden underneath is an example of the sleek design).

There’s no sag when the slider is on tripod legs and I slide a fully rigged camera from end-to-end. Great weight capacity for my needs. Showing up to a shoot with this slider, you feel like a million Hollywood bucks.

This slider is soooo impressively smooth! Perfect price point, great bang for your buck. I’ve been using a 3′ Glidetrack slider for many years, honestly with great results. But, I recently purchased the Genie II Linear and wanted a slider that would more easily integrate with this rope motorized tracking system.

Well, this slider/carriage combo works great with the Genie II Linear but I’ve also just been blown away with how smooth and easy this has been for doing freehand moves (SO much smoother than any other slider I’ve ever used – My decent sized payloads feel like they’re floating on air!).

I’m very stoked on this length as well – 3. 3′ is short enough that I can easily set this up with 1 sturdy tripod (with a decent payload), yet long enough that I’m getting ample linear motion (just may take some simple finessing with your position relative to your foreground subject).

I highly recommend this product.

I do a lot of product photography and video presentations. This slider and motor control combo is solid, convenient and silky smooth. If you’re making on-camera audio recordings you will pick up some motor noise, particularly if it’s panning fast.

Off camera audio is highly recommended when using this rig. The slider itself is top drawer and solid, although I almost never use the straight run side, the curve allows me to make the product appear to be rotating instead of the camera sliding.

It’s a perfect match and the controller bracket keeps it at the perfect angle. Improvements? I wish they offered a solid tripod support system for easily adjustable height and firm enough that there is no movement as the rig reaches the extreme ends.

I currently use two light stands, one at each end in order to support with zero movements. I definitely recommend it, OH! diagonal is only good to about a 15% incline without slipping, the motor seems to have the power, just not the traction.

Every piece of this slider is engineered to a reliable and effective design. The CNC machined aluminum is made to last! The knobs for the legs are a comfortable rubber that is easy to grip and adjust.

There are bubble levels on each side of the slider to make sure you’ve got it balanced and there is even a pair on the carriage, so you’ll easily know that it’s properly mounted. Everything about this slider says quality! Operation is slick and smooth! The build quality and versatility of having a bonus curved track on this slider make it an all-around winner! One thing to note; consider the radius of the curved track when deciding which size you want for this slider.

The 48 slider has a 60-inch radius, meaning that the curved track will revolve on whatever is 60-inches from the track. This heavily effects my choice in focal length so that I can frame my subject as I wish and keep the revolving effect.

If you are working with small objects, limited to a small space, or want to frame your subjects with a wide-angle lens, then consider the 24 version or perhaps somewhere in-between. You’ll lose track length on the straight side, but it’s really a matter of the scale that you’re working with.
