20 Best Tires For Hybrid (2022 Updated)

I am not a type of person that changed many tires. This is my first tire charge from my MEC hybrid Midtown bike. I’ve put on approx 2700-3000km on my Kenda K198 (which came with the bike) and was time to replace the rear.

It was hard to compare because I’ve put on many km On my original tire. I know these continentals are low end tire but what more cane you ask for? I want a tire with minimum foot print on the road as possible, so these fit my requirements.

Other commuter tires seem to have a flat spot with a bigger foot print which cause more resistance. This tire is the best bang for your buck for me. Also I picked this rider from others because the tread had a mixture between road and turning compared to others.

I was looking for a pair of non-expensive tires to replace the OEM tires which had given me two flats in the 24 hours. I saw the OEM tires were torn, and the size was 700-38C. The internal rim width is 19mm.

I ended up purchasing a pair of 700-35(37) C tires. The clerk explained that the 35 is the internal width of the tire and the 37 is external. Those two new Continental tires fit perfectly with the rims and look much narrower than the original 38C.

I like narrow tires since I mostly ride on the pavement. The most important is the tires have anti-puncture belts and I have no more flat tires since then.

I have an old touring bike and decided to do the (sadly cancelled) Eroica. I have upgraded the bike in several ways using pre 87 parts but the tyres had seen better days. I wanted to try to approach a gravel bike capability and these tyres looked to fit the bill – I didn’t want to change the wheels – my budget is quite tight (actually I’m quite tight).

My order was dispatched promptly and I had no difficulty in fitting the tyres, they look good. I have tried them out, on the road, they give a fast, smooth ride. On gravel paths they have noticably improved grip.

I even rode along a stoney (mostly) dried up stream – the grip was better than I expected and I always felt in full control. Obviously they are not mountain bike tyres, nor are they as wide as gravel bike tyres but they do allow you to be more adventurous with confidence – I’d avoid deep mud, they just don’t have the contact surface area.

Continental is an established and respected name and the tyres have puncture protection – so I was surprised they were available at this price! I’m very impressed with them. Even though I’ve only had them for a short while, Continental has such a good reoutation, I have no hesitation in reccomending them.

After reading lots of reviews I could not believe the difference these tyres have made to my cycling experience. My tyres needed replacing these were original tyres that came with my claude butler hybrid bike.

My thinking was there’d be no difference in the effort needed to get from a to b. I was so wrong the difference is unbelievable so much easier to peddle around now. These tyres have astounded me whish I’d have changed tyres sooner.

Feel so much more confident now going on longer journeys wow you need to try them. Can’t believe claude butler came with such crappy tyres. Also got great saving from Halford for two tyres.

Pros: very puncture resistant and tight fit. Cons: heavier tire and hard to mount (use the warm sunlight to help expand them before placing on the rimalso get the opposite wire bead into the trough of the rim to help the other size pop onto the rim).

This is the type of tire that’s a set it and forget itother than maintaining a proper tire pressure. I’ve trusted this brand make and model of tire for years. Great for urban street riding where there’s glass and sharp objects rolled over on every ride.

Works okay on a classic Westwood style or lipless / hookless rim at the lower tire pressure of 55 psi or 4 bar.

If you’re transitioning from a hybrid bike with thicker tires to your first road bike, then these tires might be ideal. Super tough with a deep tread, you’ll get a similar feel to a hybrid. But be warned, these things are so thick that they are an absolute beast to get on the rims.

After an hour of literal blood and sweat and tears in my attempts to get these on I did some web searching and found the answer: zip ties. you’ll need 2-3 to hold the tire in place on the rim. Then pray that your plastic tire iron doesn’t snap in half for the final push.

Hope to never get a flat out in the wild with these, but they are so thick it may never happen.

was hard to put on but i persevered and really loving this tire! My bicycle is a roadtech road bike 700c with 32c tires the larger 38c tires and larger hybrid tubes are great! Don’t feel all the jaring bumps and the rolling resistance is actually not the issue i thought it might be if anything it’s a faster bicycle.

Very nice road tires tech will try other bells tire products. This does the job however other problems from within bike might still pop the inner tubing. When it does the ride is still soft but again this is meant for the roads and not side-walks or off-road.

I am happy with purchase so far. So far NO SLIPS, NO ungripping, NO discoloration so far.

Cheap low budget tire. Slightly smaller than most 26” 2-125. Ok for the money I guess. Personally I’m going to eat this purchase and get some better riding beefier tire. It’s do-able but just not the right fit for my personal performance requirements.

Perhaps a Duro.

These tires are quiet smooth rollers and not sure about longevity yet because I’ve only put on about 100 miles or so, but I have ridden them in the rain and obviously on dry ground as well. This includes concrete, asphalt, and the dirt.

I love the compound of the rubber it’s a softer type with excellent grip. I’ve ridden the cousin of this k193 kwest tire which is the bigger k183 I believe, same compound and style this is just smaller due to being manufactured for hybrid bikes.

I highly recommend this tire you won’t be sorry. And on my bike the trek zektor 3 which they claim can only accept as large as a 700x 32 I installed a 700×38 and I wish I would of ordered a 700x 40 maybe even 45.

If you like them a little larger use your caliper and be your own technician. But measure carefully at the seat and chain stays as well as the forks. Happy cycling.

I liked my previous one and later ordered another when needed. The second was a little different and I was suspicious of bootleg. Both tires are fine, but one has a white ‘Kenda’ on it, while both have Kenda and size molded in.

Reviews sho that some have a white ‘kendatires. com’ printed on them. So they are obviously different batches, try to order two at a time if you care.

I installed these tires on my wife’s bike as part of a conversion from light touring/racing style bike to local tourer. These tires will make for a more comfortable ride and she feels they’ll be a bit safer on the smooth trails we typically ride now.

One word of caution: These wider tires are a bit tricky to install on narrow road bike rims. That’s not a fault of the tire, just a factor to consider when pushing the limit of the rim/tire combination.

Overall, I recommend these tires for quality and value.

I replaced the original knobby tires on my Specialized Hardrock with a set of these. Bike rides more smoothly, steers easily. It’s very much a hybrid now: tire is still on the fat side (1. 95) but it feels more like a road bike.

Nice smooth ride. Probably not the best for real mountain bikers but definitely nice on the street. Installed easily, no problems so far. Delivered as promised.

I bought this mostly for the tread. Its nice to be able to get a modern, hybrid style tread on a classic rim size. They mounted up nicely and I had no trouble seating the tires, which has been a problem in the past with several other Kendas Ive bought.

Its a shame the same tread option isnt available for Schwinn S-5/S-6 rims.

Easy to fit. Smooth comfortable ride. Trusted brand name. Appears to give good grip on the wet. Excellent price and quick delivery. Couple with Michelin Air Stop tubes and you will not regret the purchase.

Mainly use gravel bike on road. Changed gravel tyres for these Michelin Protek, even though they seem to be heavier tyres, they roll easier and grip well. Only done about 180 miles on them but seem fine.

Would’ve preferred tyres not to have been folded in a box for delivery, as they do not regain shape until filled with air. Just Would’ve made fitting easier. Other than that,great tyres!.

I was quoted £40 a tyre for puncture-proof tyres after seven punctures in a month. I can to Tredz and on reading the reviews for these tyres for them instead. Fantastic grip and quality and superb in any weather conditions.

Wet, dry, icy, these tyres are tied to the road. Easy to for and look great too 10/10.

Only a few days into ownership but these tyres arrived folded up, are lightweight, were easy to fit and look good on the bike. A first brief ride off road inspired confidence for more, and they rolled well on the three-mile road trip to school.

Can’t fault them so far.

I installed them on Isla bikes beinn 26 to replace its original tyres and all fits well and compliments the bikes original features

Husband took bike for a spin after putting on new tyres, he said tyres makes the bike more comfortable to cycle. He’s happy as he uses the bike every day to and from work.

Sp gar, been out fir a couple of rides. these have replaced mountain bike tyres that were cracked and sucky. The were like riding on an octopus, so great for climbing walls, etc. These tyres give me confidence.

They are a little harder than normal to het fitted, and i would say go with a metal, rather than plastic spoons to fit them. I doubt ill get apuncyure anytime soon, these are closer to solid tyres, so great for the mechanically challenged who hates fixing punctures.

(Except the fitting part as above). Fit and forget. Haven’t tried other terrains other than roads yet, so cant comment on mud. All the best.

I bought these tyres because I couldn’t resist the price. I use a mountain bike for commuting to and from work. And if I’m lucky and if she will let me I go up the woods for a bit of exercise. I’ve found these tyres very comfortable on the road, they handle really well and are for more responsive to steering than my off road tyres.

But I also took my bike into the woods on these tyres and it was perfect on the gravel and tarmac paths. But also capible on the grassy muddy bits. Now if I was heading into dealer mud then I’d recommend a full off road tyre.

But I fully recommend these if you just want something more comfortable and with a bit of ability off road.

Arrived quickly, easily fitted. Tried it in the wet, and gripped well. Really good price. Only four stars as longevity is yet to be seen. I would buy again

These replaced a pair of freedom commuter (groove) tyre’s that started to split along the rim walls and had been in use for about 10 months. Maybe could’ve got another 2-3 months out of them but they weren’t ideal for the wet.

I use marathon plus on my main commuter and have not had any issues so I bought these for my backup bike. There’s a noticible difference when cornering with these over the freedom, the extra grip and reduced vertigo at 20+mph was a nice surprise Only down side is a slight speed loss but this is to be expected with the green guard over tyres with very little to no puncture protection.

Just completed a 1001-mile ride from Florida/Alabama boarder all the way down to mile marker ZERO in Key West Florida on these tires and they “ROCKED”. Only had one flat and it was because the tube failed.

Ran over a lot of debris on this trip and these tires handled it without any issues. Outstanding tire at a great price, with fast shipping. The reflective stripes were an added bonus since we started off each day’s ride @ 4:30 am.

I would buy them again.

I fitted a pair of 700x25c. In keeping with an assistants remarks they were challenging to fit. The involvement of friction is the main issue; and that was further compounded by the beading of the tyres being a snug fit within the space on offer within the rims section.

Care has to be taken that the valve is seated correctly. The root of the valve must rest above the tyres beads. If the valve root is sandwiched between rim and the tyres bead a bulge will result. At key moments during fitting an extra pair of hands helps.

The ‘helper’ can ‘fold’ the tyre away from ‘fitter’ and his/her use of the levers while the fitter works that final magic. The obstinacy caused by the force of friction can be defeated with use of some ‘non-greasy lubricant’.

When applied to the tyres beading (on the one side facing the fitter) that reduced the effort required considerably. I kid you not. ‘Non greasy lubricant’, AKA ‘intimate massage gel’, may often be found on sale in proximity to the condoms.

These tyres seem to be a robust and quality product that instill confidence. I have yet to ride out.

Strikes a balance between low cost, durability with blackwalls, comfort and shock absorbing with tires wider than a road bike, sensible with a general street tread for utility riding. This isn’t really a race tire, or an off-road tire, or a high pressure high performance tire.

It’s for hitting some pavement with generous ruts and pavement transitions. This is a basic hybrid tire.

Seems to be a decent tire, especially for the price. Good grip. Seems to ride about the same as the worn out Bontragers I replaced but the liner under the tread is not as substantial on these. I wonder if punctures will be an issue.

From the mailbox to mounted on my bike and out on a ride in about 20 minutes. Brand new with lots of nubbies. I am not a competitive biker, I just do 20 mile loops for exercise about 3 times a week. I have about 100 miles on them with no issues what so ever.

For the money they are hard to beat.

These bicycle tires were a great bargain plus the ride is smooth yet grips surface well. Install was simple and overall I would recommend these tires 10 out of 10! See pics. New rear wheel on its way to install new tire again as current wheel is bent.

Nice fit on the rim and a stiff sidewall installs as it should with a higher PSI. Reflecting sidewall is sharp. Grip is good for rural roads.

I love this tire- I wish it didnt have the reflective stripe. I pulled the stripe off and it left a groove in the outer casing rubber. I had to cover it with shoe polish to make it look black.

Excellent tires for street use. These tires are very durable and resist flats. If your going to ride on the streets with a lot of potholes and debris then you want these tires with deep groves. If your on a bike trail then you want a smoother tire for easier riding.

For the money you cannot beat these tires. I am very happy with this purchase.

Tire matches the front one perfectly even though the name is different. That was important to me. Using it on a commuter bike and works great!

I have about 6 rides on a set of these tires and I like them very much. I did set them up tubeless (but only because I thought I had the right tubes but only had one on hand). I have never had a tire as easy to “hook” onto the rim.

First try. Super easy. Smooth rolling, seemingly pretty low resistance (I don’t have a lab to test these things – all subjective. I love the way these handle (I have only been on pavement, wet and dry, and very hard pack dirt and a little sand over pavement.

All good.

Installed these for a loaded tour. They have a great overall feel when the bike is loaded or not. Smooth, quiet, good grip on pavement in wet or dry, and roll easy.

Great tire, Schwabe makes great stuff. I only have 100 miles on them so the jury is still out. I set them up ghetto tubeless on a mavic sport rim. Gorilla tape and stans. Worked great once I got the width right.

Schwalbe tle is great and truly makes it easy.

I was taking a risk with the big price tag, but I must say these tyres are very very fast indeed! Been using them for the past 2 and a half years now and Ive only had a few punctures (way less than I was expecting).

Theyre more suited to suburbs / countryside roads. Not really suited for off road as grip levels drastically drop. They do ok on city roads but you must be on the look out for broken glass as sometimes they can penetrate the tyres.

Very happy with the supplier as they dispatched the tyres very quickly and replaced my missing tyre that was lost in the post without hesitation. Im most likely going to buy another 1. 6 x 26 from them again :).

I just love my Schwalbe Marathon supreme tire. Light, low rolling resistance, confortable and cheap at that price.

Swapped out some super light continental gps4000s for these because I wanted to tour and needed the puncture protection. They roll nearly as fast but are a million times more comfortable. No punctures yet but early days.

They look good with reflex strip and no intrusive decals. At this price they’re a complete steal.

I bought two of these for my specialized sirrus hybrid, the original front skinny wheel was shod with all terrain skinny and almost slick tyres on a skinny Alex Rim, but this rim was worn through by the previous owner and me being a mountain biker, wanted to fit a tyre with more grip, so I bought a new front trekking wheel and put these Schwalbes on.

Unfortunately the rear Schwalbe doesn’t fit in the bike so I’ve put the old tyre back on the original rim. I may purchase a new rear wheel soon and hopefully the Schwalbe will then fit. However, with just the Schwalbe on the front, the bike is just as fast as before – actually seems faster cos the rim is now not in danger of imminent disintegration and juddering on braking! Plus, the larger volume than the original now makes the ride so much smoother, it’s just like having suspension! And the grip is superb in all conditions – I’ve ridden throughout this winter!.

Solid cx tire for the price. I’m running the 38c on my surly cross check and probably could have gone a little bigger if needed. Has been holding up good on roads and and light trail riding so far. Good traction plowing through everything except soft sand.

It’s hard to find smaller CX tires that actually provide real traction but these deliver. They seem to be an upgrade from the old Sammy Slicks. Cambria is a great company to buy from. I am a longtime customer and always have a good experience with them.

This is my first Trek bike a Verve 2 with these tires and have had many flats and rear tire is totally consumed after having rode the bike the first 1,000 miles. Like mentioned previously this tire will make you become an expert at changing tires.

Also like to note that while changing the tire I turned the tire inside out looking for something that might have penetrated the tire and realized how flimsy the tire really is. Wouldn’t recommend them.

Ive put over 1500 miles on these so far. I bought new Schwalbes but may never put them on. The H2 Ultimates are sooo reliable. I ride through glass, rocks and nasty pot holed mine field city streets along with some gravel trails and even in the woods foot paths on my ebike.

These tires have taken everything Ive thrown at them. I did get a nasty lil cut but that was 1000 miles ago-never a flat. I tried to hate them but they just keep going and going and going. They seem heavy and hard but idk 802grams isnt bad for this level of protection.

They are slippery slick so caution is advised in gravel and rain.

Just bought my first Trek. FX2. Had about 2 months, riding on road. Flats on the front, then yesterday flat on the rear. Both were extremely small pieces of glass that couldn’t cut my hand. Love the bike, fear taking it out too far.

Will need to get good at changing flats. Kind of annoyed to say the least.

I bought this Tire(700C x 38mm) as a replacement for the stock tires(700C x 32mm) in my 2020 Trek FX3. I ride 70% on Tarmac and 30% on Gravel/crushed limestone trails. Very minimal difference in speed between the two tires, nothing significant.

But a huge difference in the ride quality compared to the stock tires. The 38mm feels more comfortable especially on broken parts/cracks on the roads and feel more confident on light trails. I am extremely happy with the product and will definitely recommend it.

I do a lot of cycling on park pavements that aren’t very well kept and thus the Mavic tires that came stock on my road bike suffered a series of flats within the first few months of ownership. I decided to look into upgrading the tires and the sales rep recommended these and i am more than please.

These things are pretty much indestructible compared to the Mavics and i can now ride on these horrible roads without worry of getting a flat.

Purchased x2 tyre @ 120+ BPS – They are flimsy, the thickness between the inner tyre and outside is so thin it’s not puncture resistant. Fitted one to the front wheel to test out, it punctured within the first ride and the sealant couldn’t cope (I thought maybe the tyre was built late on a Friday afternoon!) and changed it back to another well known brand.

I put the other new tyre on the rear wheel in readiness for a sportive. All pumped up and latex filled, I set off, sadly, the tyre started to deflate after 23 miles I had to finish on a semi flat, which affected my finishing time.

The tyre is definitely not up to our roads. It was a costly mistake purchasing these tyres and recommend you steer clear of them – S Works a top name shame it wasn’t lived up to with these tyres! Think again about purchasing them – On an underwear rating rating scale (1 – 10) they are, minus -1 and pants!! An angry out of pocket 40+ years cyclist (riding 2bless tyre for the last 3 years)! this might be one of the worse tubeless tires out there. literally has ZERO durability. Was using the GP5000s for quite sometime and never had any issues or even a puncture. Once the tread ran through i decided to try something new.

Plus wanted to go with 26MM vs the 25MM (GP5000s). Not even 100 miles in and i suffer my first puncture on these. Crazy thing is the hole is tiny and the sealant wont work. I lose basically all the air in the tire.

Not only that but i look over the puncture area and i see a section of the tread missing. It literally was ripped off. Ive rode for years and have never seen a tire do this. I guess im not surprised because when you feel the tire the rubber seems very soft so i wouldnt expect much protection.

In terms of performance. from what i was able to experience in the first 50 miles. definitely a fast tire once you are 20 MPH+ it kicks in more. Handles very nicely on the corners. Even with all the + its still a POS tire cuz it wont last u very long.

Bought a front and rear around the start of May – done ~3900km on them since and the rear is nearly done. Similar to some other reviews, starting to see casing in spots, even though the wear indicators suggest there is still some life left in the tyre.

These were very easy to setup tubeless, pop onto the bead around 80psi for me. I didn’t have any issues with air leakage etc, they sealed up first time and I had around 2 months trouble free riding. I recently had a puncture front and rear, sealed on the ride but wasn’t reliable in the long term so patched with a radial patch internally, no issues there.

They roll very well as you’d expect, comfortable and give a lot of confidence due to how they seem to conform to the road on turn in. I know they’re race tyres, but I’d hoped for a few more miles from them, considering I had my V Corsa’s for around a year, well over double that mileage, and they still look OK(ish).
