20 Best Tires For Klr650 (2022 Updated)

I have only been running them a couple of weeks on my KLX250s. On old worn down paved roads you may feel a little wiggle but that was expected because they have a harder compound. In loose sand they do as expected.

They are a little bit harder to Mount but the side walls are are thicker than most and stiff. Time will tell about the wear but on decent paved roads they feel fine. I?m only running the rear currently.

Exact fit for my 2004 DR200SE, and Revzilla had both the front and rear in stock. I’ve only used them on the road so far. Nice and smooth, no problem in corners. They look appropriate for the bike and for the 50/50 mission of a dual sport motorcycle.

They arrived with a very recent date code. The rubber feels soft and grippy and they were easy to mount just using a couple of tire irons.

Rear 270s are like iron: 6-8000km, but they slide on dry pavement to achieve this. This front 270 I killed in 3k but I was using ONLY front brake, and has a passenger. Cupping is NORMAL when used on asphalt.

Very excellent grip Everywhere, including deep water roads, any gravel, woody dirt, light mud, great on crushed rock roads that are nearly impassable.

Firstly I have this tire on the FRONT of my 2009 KLE650 Versys (running opposite rotation). I’ve had it on now for 2 years and it maybe has about 10% wear on it, and I’ve got 15,000km on it!! This tire is insane on the front.

I run my bike like I rented it and this tire has stood up to everything from off roading to extended 100mph+ speeds on asphalt with very aggressive cornering and has never faltered. I’ve run this tire in driving rain so hard that you couldn’t see the bike ahead and in deep ruts filled with water on a dangerous twisting highway and this tire pulled my butt out of the dangerous zone.

I’m a good rider but there comes a time when you also have to give a big nod to your equipment and this tire gets a HUGE NOD! It took a bit getting used to as it made the bike rather quickly in cornering but after an hour you get used to it and begin to really put some faith in its abilities.

I highly recommend this tire as far as my experience with it for a front tire is concerned. Lastly I do believe they now have a dedicated front position option in this size now from the manufacturer.

Love this tire on my Versus 300. I do lots of dirt and fire roads here in rural upstate NY and it works very wellin this application. Smooth ride on pavement, plenty of traction and good grip on wet roads.

Lasts a whole season for me riding around 6-7k miles per year. Overall very pleased.

I have had these on my 2002 KLR for the past 4800km. Had shinko 705, 244, D606 and Kenda 270 before. This K761 is the worst of the bunch off road. I also have had trouble containing the death wobble at highway speeds with these tires for some reason.

Upside is they look pretty good and wear evenly. perhaps it is not a fair comparison but compared to most of the other tires I tried these are downright scary offroad on anything rather than packed fire road.

Barely made it out of a grassy field. I’d rate this tire as 90% on road, 10% off road. Will stick to michelin T63 next, shinko 244 or D606 in future even for mostly road riding! Just not worth the compromise.

Ware: Front [Estimated life for me] 9000-10000kms; Rear [Confirmed] 5500kms -> to ware bars. Long story Short: I like them and they worked well. Heine sight, based on my riding conditions / locations the Road 5 or 6 series would have been a better choice for me.

Long story Long: I got a set of the tires during the beginning of this season. The rear tire lasted 5500kms of spirited highway and moderate twisty [or what counts of twistys around here]. Based on ware of the front I should be able to finish out the season and have some left in the rear once the front is done.

I really like the feel and the grip that they offer in the dry. [GSXR 750]. Wet weather performance felt ok, but I did have the front slip out and break traction under heavy braking in wet road/after rain condition.

[Didn’t go down but close] Other tires provide better performance in the wet and colder temps if you are trying to get the most out of your bike in the season. I wouldn’t recommend for colder weather like early in the season or late in the season as the road series tire would be a better choice and I will be getting Road 6s as their replacement at the end of the season.

I ride with a few friends often and my friend who rides a 636 has put on double the KMs on his road series tires compared to the pilot power. Unless you are hyper aggressive and need the softer compound you are better to spend the small amount more upfront then half to get a second new rear halfway through the season like me!.

These tires are the absolute best tire for the money. I daily my 04 GSXR 600 and I’ve not had a slip or slide in the rain. Its a really nice commuter tire. They just don’t last long enough. The centers wear a little fast, but these tires give me a little more confidence through the turns then any other I’ve tried.

I went through one front and two rears in roughly 10k miles.

I’ve been using these tires for a while now, I’ve worn out at least 6 sets of them. I like them in the wet and dry, they’re very predictable, no surprises from them, they’re sticky enough to go lots faster than legal and don’t wear out to fast.

I’d buy them again obviously, (seeing as I’ve already done so several times) yes there are stickier tires out there but they cost more and need replacing sooner, more touring oriented tires (eg. pilot roads) will last longer but not give as much grip, these are a pretty good trade off.

Tire preference is very subjective. I can say the R 90S handles much better with the 3. 25 and 4. 00 size tires. Prior to there were oversized Lazertecs on the bike and steering/front end was heavy. These are not cheap but are OEM size.

One would assume rubber compounds have improved since the mid 70s? Did a 200 mile ride with 32psi in both tires, that’s a few psi over original recommendations. I found the bike handled just fine riding moderately aggressively in medium/hard corners.

Remembering the bike was build in 1975 and what it’s capable of, these tires do the job just fine and I prefer the style to other alternative that may have better manners and design for more aggressive riding.

Both front and rear tire combo fit my 79 HD-FXE Superglide like a glove; highly recommended to keep the stock OEM appearance, while riding into the future.

At first I thought the tires were alright. I’m very comfortable to open it up on the gravel and they felt alright on the highway. They only thing I was not so happy about was the tire life. I’ve gone far less than 2,000 miles on the rear tire and all of the tread down the middle of the tire is gone.

Never rode in the wet so not sure how it would perform.

I am about to fit my 4th rear tire this year with 24, 700 on my 2014 DL1000 V-Strom. So far I have bought 3 rear and 2 front Battlewings from Rocky Mountain because their price can’t be beat. 1st rear tire lasted 8403 miles, 2nd was changed after 7,760 miles only because I was at my sons house in Portland Oregon which was halfway through a 13,500 mile road trip.

I would have only got another 6 – 700 miles out of the tire which would have met changing it out on the road. Much easier to do it at my son’s house. The 3rd rear tire now has over 8600 miles on it and will be replaced next week.

I have driven 6,000 miles from Texas to Oregon through 110F heat in Needles Ca with 105 lbs of luggage for an overall weight (including me) of 900 lbs. Cruising speeds where cops were sparse were 85-90mph in 95F heat so 7760 miles was pretty good.

I road on gravel for approx. 200 miles with no problems and managed to ride up a steep rough section that had been washed out the day before by heavy rain. Being fully loaded was worrying but the V-Strom motor and Battlewing tires worked perfectly together.

I was very impressed,,,,and relieved. In New Mexico I was cruising at 85mph on good asphalt that suddenly disappeared as I crested a rise to find only a gravel road ahead. With NO warning! A heart-stopping experience for sure but the bike never even wiggled front or rear.

I have not had one “moment” with these tires even on leaf covered roads in torrential rain on the east coast last fall. These tires have covered the Tail of the Dragon in N. Carolina, Twisted Sisters in the Texas Hill Country, Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, Lolo Pass in Idaho-Montana, The Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park, the Canadian Rockies, Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Pass in Montana – Wyoming and 5 National Parks in Utah without missing a beat.

As for the front tire I have had no cupping whatsoever and look to get 10,000+ miles out of the current tire. These tires might not have the rugged knobbly off road look some Dual Sport riders crave as they are more road biased but lets be honest guys how many of you really take your 1000++ cc bikes that weigh over 500lb with NO luggage off road other than on relatively easy gravel roads which most cars or SUV’s could travel on? -m-2014 SUZUKI DL1000 V-Strom Adventure–.

Previously I was using Hidenau K60 Scouts on my Super Tenere. This is my second Adventure bike. I very briefly had a BMW R1150GS but could not set it up for GP style shifting so I got the Tenere. I am not an experience adventure biker or off-road rider.

I came from the knee dragging side, so take my comments appropriately. The Battlewings are not as aggressive as he K60’s in the dirt. I ride once or twice a week on fire roads and trails on the California Central Coast, usually in the evenings after work.

The rest of the time I commute 35 miles one way on highway (US 101). The Battlewings are by far much better on the road, delivering a smooth ride, quick and predictable turn in, excellent cornering grip and they are quiet.

I have done a few “spirited” rides through twisty backroads to get to the trails and I am consistently dragging the pegs of the Tenere. The Battlewings excel here, for what they are. They are not knee dragging tires, but for a big bike like the Tenere, they handle better than expected.

In the dirt, they do not grip like the K60’s. I notice much more sliding of the rear and the front. I nearly dropped my Tenere on a graded, gravely road, but I chock tha.

I’m like most Adventure Tour bike drivers and spend 98% of the time on asphalt. For 6 months a year I commute to work on my Wee-Strom. I wanted a set of tires that performed well and were quite on the road.

Ended up researching the forums and online web pages (lots of “opinions” to sort through). Also talked to a local Motor Cycle rental shop here in Vancouver. They use the Bridgestone BW 501 & 502 tires and have had a positive experience.

The tires handle well, last a long time & are quite when driving. There are some good YouTube video comparisons available. Very happy with both tires. The only glitch I ran into is the front tire BW 501 is tubeless and the rear BW 502 is tubed ($25 for a tube).

No worries having a mixed set (confirmed with a couple of tire shops). FortNine has great prices as well. It was awesome to be able to buy in Canada cheaper than in the States!.

I’ve been running Shinko tires for years on several bikes. Started with the 244’s on my KLR650, Ravens on my Concours14, Verge and 777’s on my K1200LT and the 777’s on my Heritage and several sets of 705s on my Vstroms.

I’ve never had a single issue with any of them and I have at least 50K miles total on all these tires, at least 50K. Shinko’s are very good tires, the only *possible* downside is that they are 6000 mile rear tires.

I change and balance my own tires and these are always easy to balance with the Red dot on them. I know there are better tires out there, Michelin’s are better quality, I suspect, but I’ve never had a single Shinko delaminate, feel sketchy in the wet or cold, had any that tracked weird.

Like all tires inflation is key and I had some 705’s that cup, but that’s because I was running 5000+ miles on an overloaded bike (DL650) on a long trip and the tire was under inflated, so my fault. There are reviews out there that would make you think Shinko’s are bad tires, but in my 10+ years of running them I have nothing bad to say, quite the opposite.

I’ll keep buying them!.

80% dirt roads for my trips. Gone through 1 a season. 7000km. Tried a sinko once. Never again. That difference in tread pattern caused the talked about knob wear issue. The Kenda does not do that. Have tried more$$$ tires but never a difference.

Was hesitant to purchase this tire because of some reviews stating poor traction in mud and loose terrain however just went on a long ride over every kind of terrain you could throw at it and it gripped the trail superbly.

Melting frost mud, snow, ice, loose powdered soil, pine needles, loose gravel, greasy cedar swamp muck no problem! Great on highway as well! Rear 270 is a traction monster! Why buy anything else?.

I got these to replace the stock tires on my crf250l. They grip much better on muddy and loose surfaces than the stock tires, the back tire doesn’t feel like it is jumping around on me very much at all.

I have ran a set of 760 trackmaster 2 before on my old bike and I prefer these as they last much longer but grip nearly as well as the 760s.

Bought these after running Contis 90/10’s and like these far better. I run these on my NC700x mostly for commuting and occasional logging trails and fields. I’ve only had the chance to put 3-400 miles on them so far but the traction on and off road has been great and they scrubbed in pretty fast.

My only gripe for on-road is some low speed vibration which is to be expected with a tire having this aggressive a lug. Off road, no issues at all and the grip is far better than the Contis they replaced.

Especially for the price, I’d recommend these every day!.

I love these tires. They might not have the grip of the Dunlop’s or the Michelin Scorchers, but I’m not swapping out tires every 10,000 miles or more often. By no means is the performance something to balk at.

They handle extremely well, but the wear life and grip is a give and take relationship, and on a touring bike you need longevity. Revzilla has the absolute best price, and believe me I spent plenty of time looking around.

On top of that I ordered them Saturday evening and they were on my doorstep Tuesday when I got home from work. $350 for front and back tires. I did all the wrenching getting f my wheels off, and brought them to my Harley shop to swap out the tired.

They charged me $100 for the tire install for a grand total of $450 for awesome tires on my bike. Last time I had a shop do all the work and the charges me $800 for the install. That was some great savings as far as I’m concerned and it all started with Revzillas unmatched price and a little wrenching on my own.

Just got this to replace the rear on my 15 fxdwg. Its a stock replacement. There is just over 12k on the odometer and the original was done. Hardly any tread across the flat of the tire, wont reach washingtons head on a quarter.

Maybe have 1k left? The sides still have maybe 2-3k left in them. The front tire is still great wear wise, ill probably replace soon due to age. I corner fast and hard and the sides of the tire have held up really well.

The tire holds up just fine in the water. Ive never had any loss of traction. Most of my riding is on the highway going 80mph+ even in the rain. I personally think the tires have great traction. Onto the order.

Got here in 3 days. Date code on the side of the tire is for Sept of 18. Tire was shipped in no packaging at all. Inspected the tire for damage and there is none visible. All in all, i am very pleased with the order.

The absolute best. I could feel the difference in my bike around the parking lot immediately after leaving the shop. My first replacement set on the bike was the Commander II. After installation, the Commander II felt sloppy and disconnected in corners or straight line.

Then a severe wobble developed from 60-100 km/h. Bike was almost new (11,000 km) and two dealers tried to pinpoint the problem but no fault found with the bike! They all pointed to the tires! A claim was made through Michelin for a replacement set Commanders but I ended up paying the difference to get the Scorcher 31.

Best thing I ever did! I may have given up a little in ride comfort and wear but glad to give that up for a firm (but comfortable) ride, nimble handling and great overall feel. Bike is completely transformed.

Walk right past the Commanders and pay a little more for the Scorcher 31! You won’t regret it!.

Have traditionally run Metzler Marathons on all my baggers over the years, stock wheels up to 21’s. Thought I would try something new, as the last few Metzler fronts I went through created some heavy/sharp feel during turns, when they were close to worn.

Bought the Perelli, good price, came in a couple days. Perfect. Threw it on, did a trip to BC, dry/ wet/ some gravel, the night dragon performed very well in all conditions, It sticks to dry pavement awesome so you can rip some twisty canyon roads with confidence.

The physical feel of the tire is nice and tacky, which I like, I don’t care if I don’t get a million miles out of it, because, for as cheap as it is, the performance is reliable. Cheers.

On my third set now. With my riding style (spirited) I have them installed on my VROD MUSCLE. They are a great tire for the price. Even better for grip and traction. Longevity and mileage are not its strong point.

Ive rode about 10,000 with them and needed to change them. This is not a touring\long distance tire. Great grip and handling.

I just finished putting 5000 km on this tire and it performed exceptionally well through high speed rain and showed little wear so far. I bought it to match the rear tire I bought last summer. Don’t know why I waited.

I had the Road 5’s on my ‘09 BMW R1200GS Adventure. The road five was without a doubt the best motorcycle tire I have ever had on any motorcycle on the street ever in 45 years of license riding on the road.

On the dry pavement you could just keep turning until the soul of my boot under the shifter was rubbing on the ground and there was still no hint that the tire was going to let go of traction. On wet pavement it is the same.

I didn’t push it quite as hard as on the dry but I can pretty much ride as hard and fast in the rain as he can in the dry with the Road 5 and the Road 6 now I find out. The road 6 is just as grippy on the dry although I have found it a tad on the twitchy side when you’re up over 190 km an hour.

The Road 5 gave me almost 12,000 KM’s! (11696 km to be exact) Apparently they’re Michelin Road 6 is supposed to be a little bit better on total mileage. I know my mileage in my service book when I swap tires so I’ll have an exact number of kilometre set the Road 6 gets when I wear it out.

I have over 3,000 km on them now and I am thrilled with the performance. I highly recommend them.

Im not impressed. The Michelin commander does not ride good at all, multiple tire adjustments from 44 all the way down to 36psi, still does not produce the ride of a dunlop American Elite. It tends to break traction easily when pushed.

Wet weather is scarey with this rear tire. Ive ran American Elite front and rear for 75000 km. This Michelin is off after just 3000k.

The Shenko 244s were easy to mount on my 2017 KLR 650. They are smooth on the road and hook up well on gravel roads and provide good breaking on gravel. These are the third set of tires I?ve tried. First were Shinko 704/705 which are excellent on road and adequate on gravel.

Second set were tusk dsport (3,000 miles from them). Good on trails, adequate on gravel and road. The 244s are my favorite so far for all around.

I’m converting my WR250F to be street legal but will be offroad more than on so I wanted something that could cover both. So far I’m super impressed. I’ve been hitting trails without even airing down and only noticing in fast or slick corners.
