20 Best Tires For Traction (2022 Updated)

Worst tire i’ve ever purchased, the only good thing i could say about this tire is it was great for dry pavement and was quite. Now as for rain and snow your better off with bald tires than these. Tread wear was laughable!! I was going to rotate them every other oil change but wasn’t worth it, as they had only half inch of tread left.

As for the snow you can expect slipping and sliding in about an inch of snow. These tires came standard with my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4, i think Dodge should rethink there options for standard tires, cause these goodyear sra’s are absolute garbage!! Do not buy if you live in a rainy/snowy area, or if you don’t like buying tires every year!! They should call em GoodForOneYear!!! Never going to purchase goodyear again!.

I can’t speak forb this set of tires as I just bought them. However, I just replaced this same brand and make with these and they lasted 65k miles, probably could have gotten another 5k out of them, but a belt broke in one.

The delivery from Priority tire was fast and arrived as expected. They offer a 15% military discount, but it requires sending a picture of your military ID which is against DOD regulation, they should use a site like govx.

com or id. me to verify your military status.

Had 4 new Goodyear Wrangler SR -A put on my 2018 Silverado. We then took a 4800 mile trip with it. The tires ran smooth and quiet as they should have. What impressed me most was recently I picked up a bolt in the tire and by the time I could safely pull over to change the tire , it had ruined the sidewall.

I bought the tires at Walmart and had purchased the road hazard warranty. John at the Cody, Wyoming Walmart made the replacement procedure very easy and fast.

Do not bye any tires from BBWHEELS. THEY SENT ME 3 TIRES OUT OF 4. I’VE BEEN CALLING BBWHEELS AND THEY DON’T CARE, I SPENT $1900 ON THESE TIRES. I TOLD THEM I WANT A REFUND. THEY TOLD ME FINE BUT I HAVE TO PAY FROM MY POCKET SHIPPING AND HANDLING TO SHIP THE TIRES BACK TO THEM, THEN THEY HAVE TO INSPECT THE TIRES AND IF EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD THEN I WOULD GET MY REFUND AND THE PROCESS COULD TAKE MONTHS.

PLZ LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE OVOID THE HEADACHE DO NOT SHOP WITH BBWHEELS. 4 WEEKS AND IM STILL TRYING TO FIND MY 4TH TIRE. BEWARE.

Awesome tires all around, snow ice mud street etc anywhere u go they’re amazing. Very low noise, no lug shake, and didn’t let me down at all. Sold the truck I had them on but lasted me 40k KM and still had tons of life in them, could have easily got 70,000km or more from them before they got under legal tread limits.

I drove through 4 foot high freshly fallen snow, trails and mud holes up to 3ft deep of actual mud and the they pulled me through great.

These tires are great!!! I have them on a Ram 1500 Laramie. This is my everyday driver. The tires work great on the highway on are surprisingly quiet. Now to the real stuff! I know these are mud terrains but I live out in the desert in Mesa Arizona.

These tires are awesome in the sand and Rocky River beds of the Salt River these tires also grab and climb very well and of course they do awsome in the mud when I can find some. I have not had a chance to try them on wet road conditions yet but from past experience with mud terrains I do not think they’ll do very well but this particular tire has surprised me and a couple of other areas.

Oh yeah the price of 193 per tire was also a plus. Firestone could not even come close to the price match of the room Tire the lowest I could go is 300 per tire. In the end they probably saved 500 bucks.

Those who say they are not good in the snow, I have no idea what they are talking about. I was in the mountains here in Colorado in 2 feet of snow on a steep back road. There were 4x4s stuck everywhere, I crused right on by and never spun a tire.

On another occasion I was going over a mountain pass in the middle of the night, there was a foot of snow on the road. I never locked in the 4×4 and went right on over in 2wd. never ever slipped a tire not once.

As with everything you get what you pay for.

Honestly I was a little worried about these tires before I made the purchase. I didn’t know if they would fit properly or how they would look once mounted but to my surprise they turned out great! I couldn’t be happier with them.

They gave me exactly the look I was wanting plus the grip they give me on the road and off road is amazing. I’ll be back for more in the future.

Purchased these tires with some Fuel Vapor 20” rims and love the combination together. However, the free “mount and balance” of the tires did not happen. The tires had the wheel weights stuck on the rubber tire.

Had to pay an additional $80 at the shop to get them rebalanced.

First off the tires showed up next day so hats off to Priority Tires for lightning fast shipping. Now onto the tires. I’ve only got a few miles on them so far, but at this point I am impressed. They balanced up well and have no wobbles at any speed.

And while there is a slight hum at lower speeds, overall they are actually very quiet for how aggressive the tread pattern is. They also look great and there doesn’t seem to be anymore roll at least in comparison to the Faulkens of the same size I was running before.

Can’t comment on wear as I haven’t been running them long but at this point but I am overall very impressed!.

I ordered these because of price and reviews. I ordered 4 new tires , 3 showed up in 24hrs and the 4th took 5 days to arrive. The date code on tires for manufacturing date was 19 months old. If tires are not stored properly they begin to break down and the consumer gets less longevity from the tires.

It is never good to buy new tires that are 18+ months old. Not happy about date code , (4920) is the 49th week of 2020. I bought these 7/18/22. shipping and date code is why I give it 2 stars. When you spend $700 you expect a new product.

I just put these on my wife’s suburban. I had them siped and studded. I mounted them myself on my factory wheels without balancing and have no vibration at all. The traction on snow and ice is amazing with the siping and studs.

I only have about 10 miles on them so I have no clue how they will ware but I can tell you they are awesome for winter traction after the additions.

While on my F-150’s, I’ve owned these tires and the Silent Armor line for decades. When I was stationed overseas, these tires had no problem running on the German Autobahn with my cruse at 100mph. I crossed the snow-covered roads here in the states and in Europe.

I had no issues towing other vehicles from the New Mexico sands. My personal experience with these tires – not to mention I just got 59,000 miles out of a set, mean I only buy these – I don’t bother looking around anymore.

Second time buying from priority, because of good customer service and prices. They came quickly via FedEx. I checked the DOT DATE CODES and the two tires were 4 years and 6 months old. Other two were almost a month older.

Tires should not be in service after 6 years, so essentially I had a year and a half left on these tires. I refused the tires and called customer service. They were very nice and agreed to the refund.

They did tell me they only guarantee tires to be under 3 years old. This was a shock and unfortunately I will no longer buy my tires from them. Very disappointing turn of events.

I had a set of 35×12. 50R20 put on my 15’ GMC Sierra crew cab 4×4 1/2 ton from the dealership. These tires have lasted me 82,000 miles. I know others have claimed unreasonable tread wear, I believe that is mainly due to running max or near max air psi, too narrow of a wheel or improper rotation.

I would normally rotate a tire like these every 3000 miles but with the newer vehicles lasting 10,000miles between oil change, thats when I decided to rotate my tires and it worked great. I would recommend more often on the heavier vehicles.

I also run 30psi all the way around. I have pulled loaded car haulers and my boat with no issues. If your going to be pulling 5000lb plus loads I would recommend 40+ but we’re talking about a sub 8000lb vehicle on 10ply tires, there is absolutely no need to run 50+psi in these tires unless pulling very heavy loads.

Also contributing to a long life span I run a 12” wide wheel allowing the tire to set “flat” instead of having it pinched up on a 9” wheel causing the center tread to wear unevenly. With this combination they wore very evenly with no signs of chopping.

It also allows for a very smooth and quiet ride. At this psi the tires handle very well in rain, mud, snow and even icy conditions given the driver is knowledgeable and cautious of these conditions. Everyone already knows they are great looking tires, and I am blown away by there performance.

The only negative is they are unfortunately heavy and effect fuel economy, but if you are looking for fuel economy you wouldnt be driving a 4wd vehicle with MT. Definitely worth the loss in mpg for the longevity and performance.

Also it would be nice if they had a 44-49” option in a 16”+ wide for the more modified off road trucks. There would be a substantial market in those ranges for the offroad guys and gals. Great job Toyo!.

I purchased the Toyo M/T’s back in 2014 (33×12. 5×20). I am almost at 80K on them and there is still tread and life. They are one of the best looking aggressive tread designed tires (for a 4X4) on the market with the standard & quality to back it up.

Most of my driving is on the street, but with kids that surf & snowboard I have experienced their superb handling in sand & snow. In fact, I have rarely had to rely on the 4 wheel drive because the Toyo MT’s “grab and throw” so well.

I do rotate every 5K-7K; & I’ll definitely purchase again! My only debacle: Will I try the new ATIII’s this go around?? Thank you Toyo!.

Bought these 1 day ago and I could not be more disappointed. Serious vibrations and tread has manufacturing defect according to installer. Tread looks like it has been shaved and the amount of weight needed to balances these is out of control.

I watched the installer balance it as i went back today to complain and could see the tread go left to right as it spun the the balancer. Maybe i got a bad lot. But unfortunately now im stuck with them as the installer claims not their issue.

Hopefully Michelin figures out what is wrong with the production of these based upon the other reviews.

This is an update to an earlier review. They said the system would not allow one, and I would have to submit an additional one. After a 2nd trip to work, experiencing a similar “floating feeling” on the freeway, I took a closer look at the front tires that were OEM Coopers.

Even though I had 29,544 miles, the tread was not where I thought it should be. I did the penny test in several places, and saw enough of Abe’s head in several spots, that I decided to go ahead an replace those two as well.

I didn’t like the look of 2 different sets, and I didn’t want to end up with two sets of tires, with 10-15k mileage difference. After a couple of trips on the freeway with 4 matching Agilis CrossClimates, the ride was much better.

I didn’t notice the same “floating” feeling, and despite the large, chunky looking treads, the ride was actually pretty smooth, and just as quiet as the OEMs. I like the idea of the sidewall protection pads, even if they look a bit weird.

Purchased these tires for my 2016 3500 mega cab as I was going to do a considerable amount of winter driving as well as fifth wheel hauling in the summer and wanted a durable tire to accommodate both aspects.

After two years I am looking for a new set of tires as the tread will only last me maybe one more season. Purchased these tires with little or no reviews or tread guarantee a trusted Michelin. Paid in excess of double the price of a comparable brand so i am very reluctant to purchase another set at that price.

Drove a maximum of 35,000 km so I do not think I can recommend these tires because of that reason.

Held off on writing a review until we’d had them a bit. 500 miles so far in rain, dry, gravel roads, some mud. tl;dr: Good tires. A slight hum on highway, collects pebbles on gravel. Decent traction in mud, excellent in rain and dry.

We live down a gravel road near a major highway, and travel both regularly. We needed something more than the usual all-season offerings in a 215/75r15 (’03 Chevy Tracker 4×4) to handle the road, especially when it gets wet or icy.

Was looking at the General Grabber AT, but opted for the Lexani for the price point. Good looking tread, plenty of siping that I hope will help in snow and ice. Decent voids for mud and gravel. I knew it was going to pick up small rocks and toss them, but that’s a given with everything but a mud tire.

* Dry gravel and pavement is great. There’s a slight hum on the highway that we didn’t get with the Cooper Trendsetter SE’s we replaced, but those were useless in snow and mud, so a little hum is an easy compromise.

Picks up rocks as I said, but gets rid of them easily once you hit pavement. * Wet pavement is fine, no squirreliness, slipping, or shifting either at stoplights or on highway curves (rained buckets last night, good test!) No hydroplaning either.

* Mud traction is okay, expect some slipping with anything but a pure MT. Not bad, and don’t get packed up, which is nice as our mud is mostly clay. I wouldn’t bog with it, but for fields or trails it should be fine.

* Snow and ice, don’t know yet. If it’ll let me and if I remember I’ll come back next winter and edit an add-on about it. Given the look of the tread, I’m optimistic. So, all told: Pros: Good traction, good price.

Decent looking tread. Cons: A little noise on highway, collects some rocks on gravel.

1k miles driven as of today (11/25/2020). GMC Canyon, 2. 9l 5-speed manual. Stock tire size is 225/75r15. Installed 255/70r15. These tires are the best bang for your buck. The price scared me at first.

90ish bucks for tires is really cheap, but they ballanced with no issue. If you’re reading reviews, go ahead and pick some up. There is a bit of road noise, expected from an A/T tire. The ride is smooth I dont have an awsome “truck” but I have taken these tires threw wet sand, mud, grass, rocks with no issues at all.

The sand did have me spinning, but my little 4banger with these tires got me out with no puckering of my chocolate starfish. I’m sure installed on a regular sized truck they would be even more impressive.

Braking ability is better than before, acceleration on all surfaces in all weather has been exceptional. With a tread wear ratting of 600, I cant report anything other than good news. Pick up a set.

This tire was to replace identical one from set purchased less than a year ago. Under 8000 highway miles and cords separated or broke internally. Ride is decent on these but no warranty. Not angry. I went cheap and this time it bit me.

I have multiple vehicles so I was not without vehicle waiting on replacement tire. If I had to depend solely on a car or truck for work and everything else I would suggest another tire.

I’ve rotated my tires properly at every oil change (5000 miles on my ‘16 ram 2500 & 7000miles on my 2020 ram 2500). As far as drivability they do great no road noise comfortable ride and seem to do decent when get off the black top.

But in all my years of driving I’ve never had so many random flats. Two on the 2020 in under 10,000 miles both from gravel in the road and three on the ‘16 with that I never found the cause of. Granted the rocks were sharp but on the same notion I’ve never had this issue with toyos.

And the 16 although they wear perfectly even no cupping or anything of that sort I am still yet to get more than 20,000 miles out of a set before they are in the wear bars and ready to be replaced. Not good In my opinion.

And the constant flats from random things? Well all I can conclude is thin rubber even if they are load range E. So in my opinion they are not a good tire. Back to the toyos as soon as possible for me.

400,000+ miles on 15 sets of factory Firestone Transforce HT (highway) RAM take offs. 3+ nails, 1sidewall pipe, only 1 defect. Avg 27-33 mpgs on freeways. 2015 Ram Cummins diesel truck 4×4 4door camper shell 10,000lbs average cost per tire as take offs $50.

I’m now taking a risk going wide semi off road tires, 51lbs to 68lbs 285mm &12. 50inch wide for the Beach sand and winter.

I went to these tires because I was tired of the mud terrains I had. I wanted something I could drive on the highway on without having to have my radio blasting at near full volume. These play that part very well.

These are wonderful highway tires. That is where the tires shine. Once it gets anywhere off the dry paved road, things change. They do still soak up the bumps rather well, but they can’t pull themselves out of a rut.

Granted, I am in a 7,000lb 2500HD, but these LT tires are made for that. On any kind of wet ground, I have to fight for traction. At the moment, I have about 10k on them. During the latest ice storm, they got me home, but I had no confidence in them at all.

In my friend’s gravel driveway, a driveway that a Chevy Cavelier drives on regularly, if I stop I have to put the truck in 4wd in order to get out. Otherwise the tires just spin. I have two other trucks, both with different tires and neither of them have this problem in that same driveway.

I wanted to like these. They look good and ride smooth and are quiet enough, but I need something that’s going to work in less than perfect conditions.

Bought for an AWD 2014 Nissan Rogue for Fraser Valley, BC winters. We live off of a hill. Fantastic traction in almost any snow condition. Likely a combination of the AWD and the tires. We are very happy with the performance.

No issues with excess noise and after 4. 5 winters (typically mid-October to April use), there is no major tread wear – average mileage drivers. Vehicle was recently in an accident (not at-fault), so will buy the same tires to replace the existing damaged tires.

I really like the traction these provide in the snow. I usually get them studded, but am going to try this set without them. The LT sizes are getting hard to find around here, so I went on-line and found them several places.

Surprisingly Wal-Mart was the least expensive. The only dissapointment was with Fed-Ex. They just left them on my sidewalk about 4 feet from the portch! I was surprised they didn’t get stolen!!!!.

I had these tires on my ’95 Cougar and they were awesome I loved driving that rear wheel drive care in the snow. I just bought this set for my wife’s RWD Crown Vic. Hankook discontinued the exact size 225 60 R 16 for that car so I bought the next size up 225 70 R 16.

When changing tire sizes you have to do all 4 due to ABS / Traction control so you cannot upsize just the rears like I used to do decades ago. But Walmart wouldn’t mount them for me because they didn’t match the size listed on the door.

I checked clearances prior to ordering and knew there would be no issues. Soooo I had to take the car home put it on jack stands pull all the wheels off and truck them down to walmart where they mounted and balanced them as carry outs then I put them back on the car.

Kind of a hassle but these tires are worth it in the snow, although I run them all year long as we don’t put that many miles on that car. BTW no clearance, traction control or ABS issues were encountered.

But the speedometer is slow by about 2. 5%.

Time will only tell if tread wear would be comparable to Tires that cost almost twice as much from the big name Brands. These feel good on the road and grip well, but are a little louder than the Kumhos All Seasons I just took off.

The Kumhos had a totally different tread design so running them for almost 4 years you get used to their sound. So it might be unfair to say a more beefier tire should sound similar. I painted the raised lettering white and they look impressive.

So Far they very good in the rain. It hasn’t snowed yet but a good look at these I do not see an issue with bad weather. They are new so they feel great now. If you are on a budget they are worth the money.

If your tire shopping don’t hesitate, these are NICE.

Tires shake my truck terribly. I had the balance checked and it’s spot on. Truck did not shake prior to mounting these tires. Also the site said returns available til sept 14 but when I try it says returns not available.

Tires looked great! Will know more once mounted on vehicle! Delivery was awesome!!

This is more so a review for bb wheels in general. Ordered 4 tires and had balancing issues from day one. Had road balanced per their request and found multiple tires out of round. Started a warranty claim and nothing but issues.

Each email assured me they spoke with the manufacturer and then gave me a list of things requested. This went on for multiple emails. The proceeded to tell me the manufacturer denied my claim because of inner shoulder wear(tires had 17/32 remaining out of 18/32 with less than 600 miles on them and no way you could see the inner shoulder of the tire from the pic.

) called about it and was told that it was straight from the manufacturer. Called the manufacturer myself which i had already been in contact with because emails from bb wheels didn’t seem to line up.

Manufacturer assured me that they had no communication whatsoever or pictures from bb wheels. Called bb wheels back and they changed it to they sent then info to another company they deal with and they sent it.

Called the manufacturer back myself and writhing 10 minutes i had brand new tires being shipped and 100% covered under warranty. Don’t waste your money and time with bb wheels. They have zero desire to stand by products they sell and flat out lie and change stories when called out.

these atturos are good. road noise is minimal. make sure you rotate them as the rubber compound is not the strongest. i burn them up too fast with my lead foot. & if not rotated they will start to cause shimmying on your front axle.

they are a little hard to seat on wider wheels but much better than cheaper 10 ply out there like venoms. also deeper tread than venoms. overall a good smooth riding tire which handles offroad conditions just as you’d want.

Absolutely Garbage! Iv kept my vehicle very well maintained. Supposed to be a mid grade tire. Was told from several other places there actually an economy type of tire. Suppose to be good for 45, 000 miles.

Got 20 to 25, 000 out of them & also not good for high speed. Going over 70 makes your vehicle shake & becomes a rough ride. Before writing this review i had my suspension inspected to make sure everything was good & it was! And of course Auttro will not honor there brand & i wasted 1,200 & now have to spend another 2,000 for a company that will.

I wanted something pretty aggressive for offroading as well as the look for on road. What I really didnt expect was just how well these tires actually do on the streets. Not too loud, dont pull real bad, and have had great traction in snow and rain in NH.

Offroad these tires really shine. Excellent grip in rocks, mud and trails. Easily cleaning their tread by spinning up. I will be buying another set when i wear these out.

I had the NITTO trail grapplers in a 35×12. 5r20. they looked great lots of compliments. These yokohamas though, what an upgrade so far. I got 62k miles out of my nittos and rotated them once. I got these Yokohama tires at a price of about $600-$1000 less.

the real savings is in who you have install them. That’s another $500. Buying these tires and doing the route i decided, i saved around $1400 from my original qoute of full install. I saved over a thousand dollars, my gas milage has gone up, my tires are quiter, adn my gas mileage has raised 3 miles.

Awsome tires! I have been running BFG T/A for 20 years and have been missing out. Excelent ride quality and the wet traction is incredible. Road noise is no greater than worn T/A s. Would highly recommend these tires for daily driver and off road.

Tires date codes are all close to 27th month of 2020, installed in August on daily driven 2500 ram truck. Found deep cracking at base or tread lugs in three of the four tires. I drive alot of highway and felt the cracking rubber on tires was a safety issue so I removed tires and had to buy 4 new tires.

Went through warranty claim process with detailed pictures sent to nitto and was told to ship tires in for evaluation. After shipping in tires it took 2. 5 months before I could get an answer back after multiple phone calls, then the warranty was denied! I do not get my tires back and no reimbursement at all for $1300 with of tires I drove on for about 10 months.

Only good thing I can say is the tires did ride good and balanced good on install. But will never deal with Nitto again after losing this money and my tires through their warranty process. Could not post pictures.
