20 Best Tires For Trikes (2022 Updated)

Just put these on my 2019GSA Tires feel very good in the turns BUT the rain grooves and tar snakes and inconsistencies in the road surface play havoc on the straight line stability. They feel more like they are want to fall off center very easy which is great for winding roads.

They front tire is typical TKC 70. You can definitely hear it. Have not taken them off road yet and probably will not due to the fact that I am going to change them out for something else. Just do not like all the surprise movements on the road.

Anakee adventures, Heidenau K60 Scouts and Dunlop Trailmax Missions all performed well on this bike. This issue of darting around and squirmy feel only appeared once these tires were installed. 20,000 miles on other tires and they all went straight without this issue.

Gonna go back to what works. JMO.

I ride a Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere, a full size Adventure bike. My riding style is about 80/20 street/dirt. The TKC70 is replacing a Michelin Anakee Adventure front tire which while new, was a good tire, however as it wore, it became high crowned and unpredictable.

That said, the TKC70 has a deeper block pattern and so far has performed just as well in the twisties, and works remarkable well on gravel fire and Forest Service roads. Since I don’t ride single track or sandy conditions, I cannot judge the tires in those conditions but I’m sure an accomplished rider would find them fine.

Bottom line: if you ride mostly tarmac and occasionally ride in the dirt, this is a great tire.

I typically use TKC 80 on the front and TKC 80 or now the TKC 70 Rocks on the rear. I have use the TKC 70 standard rear as well. The TKC 80 rear achieved 6500 km on about 60% asphalt and 40% gravel at a cost of $239 or 3.

7 cents per km The TKC 70 Rocks rear, so far has achieved 7600 km, and I suspect it will reach about 9000+ km in total. Again about the same split 60/40 asphalt and gravel. The tire cost $271 or 3. 0 cents per km.

The TKC 80 at 3. 7 cents per km would have an operational cost of $333 or $62 dollars more (plus a tire change). That was over 4 months of riding so 15 bucks a month, less than a tank of fuel. I change my own tires at home or on the road if required so no cost there but it could add up for others.

Thus, I am very happy with the results. I would definitely use a TKC 70 Rocks for a longer trip (Calgary to Tuk) but maybe the 80’s if I stay closer to home and keep the % gravel up. I have a new TKC 80 in my garage ready to install once I do the next 1400 km BUT may very well order a TKC 70 rocks anyway.

The front TKC 80 has lasted 14,200 km so far and I suspect it has another 1000 left. The Dunlop TrailMax front looks like a possibility at $177 with the TKC 80 at $196 but I am likely to stick with the 80.

I have been very pleased with the tire in all conditions.

I bought these tires for my gravel bike because it was inexpensive and I like the mocha colored sidewall. The tires are sticky, quiet and fast on pavement and grippy on light off-road trails. However, if you are concerned about weight then this is not for you.

Overall, these are great tires for everyday use.

It’s not an MTB tire, but it’s a great in between for my adventure bike. The mocha brown matches nearly every brown leather accessory I’ve found. Lighter than advertised, one weighed 500g. the other 506g.

It does pick up a little grit, but a set of compact fenders would probably make that a non issue. Comfortable at 50-60psi. performs well when wet, not as fast as a 23mm tire, but not as harsh a ride, and it doesn’t cut through everything softer than hard tarmac.

So far, I’m pleased with it. Would be a great choice for a hybrid around town too! That old Nimbus tread pattern has been around for decades. Proven, still a great tire.

I like these Kenda 830 700x38c tires because they give me adequate protection against goat-head thorns here in Arizona. The tread provides a good grip, wears well, and rolls easily. The mocha sidewall is flexible and adds to ride comfort.

The price is very reasonable.

I love that these 90/10 tires are nearly silent. There is almost zero tread noise. They stick in corners like the very best road tires and have a bit of extra rubber to resist punctures in the dirt. My rear corded at about 7K miles.

lots of high speed interstate at near 100F on a BMW GSA fully loaded. brutal! Going from Chicago to Denver in summer is just brutal on rear tires. I’d buy them again. They are terrific. I had to replace the rear on the road.

They were not available at the nearest dealer. I got a Continental 50/50 tire instead. It look beefy, appears to be wearing very well and is also pretty quiet with surprisingly good handling.

Excellent Tires on the the road and responsive handling with outstanding grip. I used 2 set so far on my bike for twisties and long stretches of highways. I find these tires to be well suited for my 2016 BMW R1200GSA.

Little background for this tires are – Motorrad Test Result In Germany was Rated-“Excellent” for Trail Attack 3. You can ready this info on Continental Motorcycle Website. I trust this tires and Very satisfied with them.

I have Used Michelin Road 5 trail as once as a set in the past. Other than slightly better grip on the wet or heavy rain for Michelin in my experience, I would still keep using Conti Trail Attack 3’s overall.

Highly Recommend if you do mostly on road riding and minimal off-road. Longevity of these are great in my opinion for the value. Excellent Tires!!.

The sweet: My new YT Jeffsy came with Minion DHR II’s front and back. The DHR II, even on the rear wheel, provided significantly better tread wear compared to the similarly priced XC tire that I had become accustomed to previously.

Pros: Gobs of grip, long tread wear, not too expensive Bitter: The front tire started seeping sealant from the a single spot on the sidewall shortly after I converted to tubeless. I submitted a warranty claim to MAXXIS and they sent me a replacement tire.

I am waiting to either install the replacement tire on the front or convert the rear to tubeless to see if this is a commonly occurring issue. However, in the warranty process I realized that MAXXIS relies on a date code which is stamped on the inside of the casing.

Therefore, it is possible for a uninstalled tire to go out of warranty while sitting of your shelf at home. Cons: Might seep sealant thru the sidewall, don’t purchase too far in advance.

This tire came stock F & R on my 2022 Santa Cruz 5010. I switched to something faster rolling. Maxxis description and recommended installation of this tire is spot on. Grip, cornering, and braking is outstanding.

Rolling speed not so much. I had MaxxGrip front and it made me giggle in the corners because it was just glued to the ground and was confidence inspiring. Too much tire for my needs in the Midwest, especially front and rear.

If you’re pedaling a lot, I would run this rear only and get something faster rolling in the front. This is a burly rear tire. Depending on your conditions you may be better off with the faster rolling Aggressor, SS, or Dissector.

These tires were very nice at first inspection. They are thick and heavy feeling and I would expect them to hold up well against punctures. I expect they would have a very long tread life simply because they are so thick.

What I didn’t like was the rolling resistance. I found it quite annoying how slow the bike felt with these tires. I went over the wheel bearings and bottom bracket thinking that was the issue but they were not bad.

I would recommend these to someone who does not want to go fast or far, but wants the classic gumwall look with a tough tread.

Kenda is the near-bottom end of mass manufactured bicycle tires, but the price is excellent, and it’s reliable for average usecommuting and leisure rides but not for off-road and racing. I use an old steel-frame 26″ bike and have swapped out tires many times, finally settling on another “upper-end” manufacturer’s steel-beaded tiresthe rear one lasted 3,251 miles (not bad for bicycle use).

I expect this Kenda tire to last 1,976 miles, but I’m near the end of my use with the old steel bicycle, so the Kenda is a decent investment.

As a tire it is good. But as advertised it is bad! It is described as 27×1 3/8! It is exactly the same size as 27×1 1/4!! Not what I wanted or ordered! I wish the vendors who we trust as EXPERTS would check the products they buy! They really do us trusting consumers an injustice!.

I received a slightly malformed tire, 90/90-21 size. One sidewall varies in height slightly around its circumference causing the front of the bike to porpoise/hop up and down slightly at certain speeds.

Continental have not been good to deal with as I installed the tire myself, claiming I didn’t use bead lube (I did) and that the tube was pinched in the bead (it’s not, I’ve verified). If continental comes through on this I will update this review based on that outcome, but as of now, I recommend not buying continental tires based on the quality of the tire I received, and the defensive/dismissive response from continental on my warranty claim.

This tire worked extremely well in muddy conditions, it’s designed for dry terrain. These tires gave me the confidence to lean the bike way over and drift both tires around the corner. Although it has light sidewalls, I have had great luck not puncturing them while going over many rocky trails.

Running lower pressure made light work of mud and rocks. The one area where these tires become useless going over tree roots on even the slightest uphill, especially when damp. Be careful with this terrain.

I hurt myself pretty bad when they slid on a rood while I was standing while pedaling. Hitting roots on straights or downhill becomes harry as well. I still give it 5 stars because it does not claim to be for wet weather and these scary moments are on wet or damp roots.

The Saguaro line does MUCH better in this terrain. OUCH!.

aggressive for a drop bar gravel rig but i go through grass and fields and muck pretty routinely. love how well they take me through it all. 700×2. 1 had rubber hairs rub the fork so they likely need to go but only if i can find the 27.

5×2. 2s first. not noticing the higher rolling resistance on pavement b/c i am too busy looking for places to jump onto dirt. set up required LBS to pop them onto rims to set as my little pump could not seat them.

once seated they filled nicely an easily though they still leak through side wall prolly b/c they’re the race version. but they air up before rides and keep topped off through rides just fine. am refilling with air every 3 days and have also added a bit more sealant which seemed to help.

these have transformed how and where i can ride. i am in love, but know they’re still a bit long in the tooth for the fork. still, they look brilliant and ride extremely well. may be seeking more Vittoria out for my bikes especially since Panaracer tires seem to have lost their stick over the years.

I normally run the excellent Vittoria Mezcals for XC racing. a super quick tyre thats fast rolling, progressive in grip and excellent in dry conditions. But I needed something that could cope better with damp conditions and slippery off camber sections that seem to becoming the norm in British XC racing these days, so tried the Barzo.

It looks more agressive and has deeper side tread, spaced out slightly taller knobs but still retains a fast rolling off set centre tread. Quite honestly it doesn’t feel any slower than the Mezcal in a mixture of conditions – even on the road, but off road, its definitely more grippy and can be leaned on loads more – turns in much better etc.

Perhaps slightly heavier due to the extra tread so I went for 2. 25 versus 2. 35 that i ran on the Mezcals to compensate. They set up easy tubeless and they also look super cool with the grey side walls.

(if the looks are important to you). Not cheap but you pay for what you get. So a great all rounder and highly recommended.

The biggest improvement in my riding since moving to carbon. These tires are pretty sick. I used to run low resistance tires (Minion SS) because I wanted to go fast everywhere and learned how to lean into turns differently than if I had big knobby’s.

These tires ramp up to speed super quick and I can lean them into anything and they just don’t let go. Better yet, I don’t feel as though I’ve sacrificed anything in pedaling. Would highly recommend them to anyone with a speed itch.

I bought these tires on advise from a friend, was getting slip climbing punchy rooty trails. my other tires were’t even close to worn out, just didn’t like tread on rear, The trail casing wasn’t available, I rolled the dice.

Love these tires, I have over a hundred miles on them and they are notedly better than any tire ive used. They truly are better and I didnt notice a weight penality with the enduro casing, it actually preformed way better on downhill grip.

I’ve been riding this tire for a few months now and I am super happy with it. Yes, it does resemble another well known tire on the market, I can live with that. Overall, this tire rolls decently well for a large lugged tire.

Cornering traction is excellent in all conditions I have encountered (hard pack, loose over hard, dust, gravel) and there is plenty of braking traction too. This tire is great as a front tire and would also work well as a rear for more aggressive riders.

I wouldn’t recommend this tire for an XC riding but it is perfect for trail and enduro style riding. The weight is inline with tires that have a similar construction. The trail casing is stiff and allows you to run low pressures without worrying about sidewall squirm while cornering.

I find I run between 17-20 PSI depending on the trail conditions. If you dare to try new this is an excellent alternative to other more common tires on the market.

Inexpensive, off paved road tires, I purchased these for gravely, sandy, unimproved road use. On a paved road above 30 mph steering gets froggy on my scooter. Great for intended purpose!

With very limited choices for replacement tires for my Yamaha Chappy I went with the Shinko 421 because they didn’t have a white wall. They seem like decent tires but for as my use is mostly road use they vibrate a bit and the tread pattern was a bit unsettling the leaning into turns.

I wish they were more road oriented, but still think they are the best of what’s presently available for 4 -8. 00 tires.

I put these on both my kids Honda Crf50’s increased the seat height and are perfect for off-road or street riding the knobbies don’t wear away on cement nearly as fast as a dirt tire. Get them great tire don’t forget the 3.

0 tubes with them.

I run this on my DRZ and have been very satisfied with it on the rear. On dry rocky dirt this tire just grips. It’s hard to spin the rear tire with this much grip! In corners it’s stable, and when it starts to lose grip it’s predictable.

Haven’t tried it in mud. On pavement it corners well but wears out quickly. After 1500-2000 miles the tread is at 45% or so. I also noticed that the center knobs have started to crack and partially tear off after a good amount of aggressive rocky off road riding.

The tire seated well with some soapy water and 30-40psi of pressure. If you do a lot of pavement time, this tire won’t last long. I do 50/50 street/dirt and it’s acceptable, but will be going for a tire that wears more slowly after this MT43 wears out.

It’s a great dirt tire though. Can’t go wrong with it if you do 50% or more dirt!.

The Pirelli MT43 Tyres are absolutely amazing. They look great. They also grip well onto all terrain including the road. I have used these tyres countless times during road riding and have had no issues.

If you ride your machine with care and don’t push hard in corners or in the wet, you’ll d fine. They don’t have a knobbly feeling on the road which aids confidence. They are specified in some enduro events as they provide the necessary grip without doing excessive damage to the terrain.

They are great in all terrain except really deep mud. They are a bargain too! well under 100 for a set if you look around for a deal.

Solid tire. REALLY grippy on road, and a good deal for the cash. However my CL is a chopper, and in about 3K, I cooked a rear right down. Solid off road in the dry stuff and on hills. Lame in the muck.

Want tread life for less grip? Get a TKC80 Want more grip in the sloppy stuff? Get a D606/T63 Dollars to donuts; can’t be beat if you want a solid trials tire!.

Thoroughly impressed with this tyre. I replaced my maxxis DHF and found this to be grippier on loose terrain, even at 2. 4 (compared to the 3. 5 I was running). Confidence inspiring and felt solid under very rocky descents.

Note: Super hard to get on my rim compared to Maxxis but I got there eventually, worth the effort!.

10/10 for an aggressive trail tyre, not quite the enduro tyre the Michelin is but still a well constructed tyre. 500ks on mixture of surfaces and wear rate is looking to hold up very well. A quality tyre that could be a touch more aggressive.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the effectiveness of the Scorpion Tyre. Having ridden Maxxis for some time, I wanted a tougher tyre that had plenty of grip.

Ive tried a few fatbike tyres for a ebike. On these Ive done near 200 miles between 20-30mph usually, I have abused them, often taking them through routes that have torn most of my old tyres off. They seem very strong and provide good grip in all conditions, from -0 temperatures to wet muddy almost unridable terrain.

They roll well with very little resistance. For the price youll have a hard time beating these.

Man these tyre are awesome just use bit washing liquid and they will pop straight on.

Great mix terrain tires. Relatively low rolling resistance on tarmac and surprisingly grippy on (dry) gravel and forest roads. I use these tires on a road bike (Canyon Endurace CF SL) for rides on mixed terrain.

When mounted on 22mm internal diameter rims the tires measure exactly 32mm wide. I run them tubeless, however setting them up tubeless was quite a hassle. Even with an air compressor the tire beads did not pop onto the rim.

What worked for me was leaving the tires sit overnight with tubes in them inflated to max pressure. When taking the tubes out, I left one side of the tires untouched leaving the bead in sit in the rim.

When remounted, I managed to “pop” the other bead on the rim with a track pump (valve cores removed from the tubeless valves).

I previously ran 35mm Schwalbe G-One Speeds, wanting something a little wider, with more tread and hopefully better puncture protection, I checked out the beautiful tan wall Panracer GravelKing Semi-Slick Plus.

Fitting them was not easy. Whereas the Schwalbe’s I was able to mount tubeless with just a normal track pump, for the Panaracers I huffed and puffed with no luck. To mount them I had to insert tubes, seat the tyre, then take out tube whilst keeping one side seated.

Luckily my Airshot arrived and it was easy from there with a little help of compressed air. Once mounted, they felt a little more slugish than the G-Ones but that’s to be expected. They ride well on tarmac as well as dry gravel, and *touch wood* I’m yet to get a puncture.

All in all, I’m pleased with my first foray into Panaracer tyres, but be warned, fitting them was an absolute nightmare on Hunt 4season gravel disc rims.

My wifes hybrid bike came with pseudo road tires that are iffy when it comes to taking mildly sharp turns on concrete or asphalt. After reading many reviews, I settled on the 700x35c Gravelking SKs. Installation was relatively easy and painless.

The GK SKs are fairly light and weigh 150 grams less than the original mounted tires. Even though the tires are tubeless-ready, I decided to mount them in a tubed configuration. Maximum air pressure in a tubed setup is 75psi, but I chose to inflate the tires to just 65psi, hoping this would be a benefit to ride comfort and improved traction.

One item of note: After mounting the tires to the rims and inflating, the tires calipered at just over 37. 5mm, which is 2. 5mm wider than Panaracers stated specs, so be sure to check your clearances before deciding which size to purchase.

With the new tires installed, my wife immediately felt a difference in the way her bike handled when cornering. She said the tires never slipped and quote it was like someone put sticky glue on the tires.

I took the opportunity to ride her bike as well, and I was very impressed with the way the side treads grabbed at the road surface. Handling provided a real sense of confidence and rolling resistance was just as good as the tires that came with her bike.

The more my wife rides on her new tires, the more she likes them. Now, shes actually looking forward to the time when we will start going out and doing some gravel/hard-pack riding at our local state parks.

Panaracers Gravelking SKs are a quality tire at an affordable price. My wife and I highly recommend them!!.

I am completely satisfied with FortNine. The tire on the other hand no so much. This is the second one I have purchase because after about 15000-20000kms the first one wore out. I purchased the second to match the front.

Once this one wears out I will be switching brands.

Worst tire in terms of longevity that I have ever tried in over 40 years of riding. I Bought the front and rear wide whitewalls for my 2010 Soft-tail Deluxe at the beginning of the 2018 riding season.

Used them for about 4 months (the length of our season here in Cape Breton). About 3 weeks into the 2019 season I noticed the rear was pretty well done. I got about 6,500 KM from the rear tire, and I do not ride aggressively at all.

The front tire still looks OK, good for maybe 2,000 km more. I can’t complain about handling, comfort or noise from the tires, but the tread life is pathetic. The Shinko’s were lower priced than the Metzler or Dunlop.

I guess the old saying holds with this Shinko tire – you get what you pay for.

Bought a set of 777 whitewalls. They were at my door in 3 days and were substantially cheaper than the other options. As well as in stock. I Just did a 2000km trip with them. Once they are a little worn in they feel fantastic.

No regrets.

i am amazed how these tyres perform. Usually price is not a factor if it’s something I like i’ll get it. I went to the chaparrals store and viewed all of these types of tyres. Cross bred tyre sorta new for me SO… [Mitas(DakarE-10),my ultimate pick] [Motoz(rallz-adventure)for rear and Bridgestone battlax AX41 looks like best choice of the top 2 dogs listed abouve.

However for my needs i tread lightly on desert floor mixed with sand and small rockies hills or moutian ridges and do little highway travel i went with Shinko 805 massive tyres 170/60-17 rear and 140-17 for my KTM 690 smc (super moto) carry lightest weight for high flotation yet cornering and no loud hum on highways really perform to my needs.

love to try Mitas when i’m serious about Dakar tyres maybe next due to compound best handling in high desert sandy races, for traction but hard to install due to very hard sidewalls try MotoZ but seems so hard on clutch with adventure moto bikes weight and hard rides all thru out.

stay simple lightest weight for a whole day(s) of desert ride in Yucca Valley rode 50 miles a day for 4 days and have very little wear on these 805’s. but am easy on rocky spots love the sand but can be wicked in mud if your putting around high speed feel a little wiggle but just keep it coming Hammer Town U.

I live in California, where it never rains. I ride mostly on asphalt bike lines. Little asphalt pebbles stick to these like glue. It’s quite funny to see a bunch of little pebbles hanging on while the tires rotates, can’t be good for it.

I often find myself picking little pebbles off the tire while waiting at stop lights. These did take nail without a flat, though I did do ride with Tannus Armour inserts. My bike orginally came with Pathfinder reflects, but those got shredded by the usual bike lane debris.

I bought a pair of these plus the Airlock Presta Valve Tube for my hybrid bike and had them installed by a bike tech. They worked well for about 3 or 4 rides and then I got a flat. I don’t know if this was due to the quality of the tires or me running over something but I did find a teeny-tiny puncture hold in my tube.

I think my only issue with these tires and tubes is that they’re lauded as being highly armoured. The tubes’ Airlock sealant supposedly “coats the tube for permanent protection against punctures. Not only this, but the sealant is designed to work continuously in order to prevent slow leaks from occurring.

” – hmm, that’s not what happened in my case.

I’ve been using Nimbus 26×1. 5 tires for years on my city bike (an old mountain bike). These tires may lack the high-performance characteristics of racing tires-they’re heavy, stiff, and grip poorly-but the flat resistance is unmatched and they resist damage as well as any tire I’ve seen.

I once ran over a metal car part that put a 2 cm gash in the tire. I replaced the shredded tube and the casing on the Nimbus was so stiff that I didn’t even boot it before limping home. Pro tip: pair these with Airlock tubes for maximum flat resistance.

Sure, you’ll find the ride quality and grip second rate, but for riding to work and the store, where you don’t want to deal with tubes and tires, you can’t beat the Nimbus.
