12 Best Titanium Aquarium Heater (2022 Updated)

The heater went out shortly after buying. bulk reef got me into contact with finnex and they had me send in the heater so they could look at it with me paying shipping. They said that water caused it to short out and would not warranty product.

So not only out for poor product out for shipping to finnex just to be told that they would not do any thing.

I like the titanium vs glass so I don’t worry as much about cracking. I have two 300w set up for my 90 gal DT in the sump. The first/primary is hooked up directly to my Apex. The second/backup is set up through an Ink Bird controller then to Apex on a separate EB832 Power Strip.

The first is four years old and still going; it keeps the water temp between 77. 5 and 78. 0 degrees with no problem. The second heater is less than a year old and has had little use as a back up. It’s set to a lower temperature through the Inkbird controller.

Apex Fusion is set to alert me if te backup turns on so I know the primary is failing or has failed.

This is my first attempt with a good aquarium heater. The new tank is setup proper with Apex and other goodies so Im trying to do it right. The Heater seems to be well made and it heats the water quickly.

My only gripe is the cord being way too short. I cut the end off and soldered on an extension as I didnt want to use an extension cord to keep things neat and I noticed the Hot wire had some tarnish on the copper whereas the neutral was clean and bright.

This makes me wonder if there is a nick in the wire somewhere. But time will tell at this point.

I’ve had the 200 Watt (Dual Element) Helio PTC Smart Heater for about a month now on a 20 gallon IM AIO and I have to say, I’m kind of impressed. Both of the elements have LEDs in the cord end so you can see when each is actually on which helped when they were deep down in the bottom of the filtration area.

The controller display is simple and easy to use and comes with sticky velcro strips for mounting, and hold well. It has a cheesy retro 3D effect, but in a good way. The temperature probe also looks like it is titanium which is kind of a nice touch.

I’ve had it set to 78 the entire time and I just now pulled out the NIST validated temp probe and it read exactly 78 in several spots in the tank. I hope the longevity lives up to the hype and I would definitely recommend these heaters.

The only thing I would change is the low temp alarm when setting up the tank. I wish they would add some logic that if the controller was just powered on, don’t alarm for low temp unless a certain amount of time goes by without the heat rising a certain amount.

I purchased this Helio PTC 1000w through Marine Depot back in March but didnt set it up until about a month ago in my 242 tank. This is an awesome heater and very well built. Instructions are easy to follow.

It has both low and high temp alarms which function correctly as I played around with them on my apex. I set this up with an EB4 due to amperage requirements. I also had some questions that were not included in the manual.

I called innovative marine and they got back with me pretty quickly. So if you have the same question as Myself here it is; the two 500w heater elements were longer then the outboards of my tideline 48 sump so were both side of the magnets submersible? They are so attached on my baffles.

If you purchase this which I recommend you will not be disappointed.

Quality, size and looks what made this heating element perfect. Except I have the double 200 Watt making it 400 Watt for my 85G Reeftank with 50 Gallon sump. 1 of the 2 heating elements keeps turning off since I installed it 3-4 days ago.

I unplug it and plug it in again on the display/control and it works for about 12-24hours. And it turns itself off again. No green light and no error code. 3 major temp swings from 76 -79 in 3 days. Not good and nothing I can find on this either.

I had a 200w Aqueon Pro heater that used to work. But after setting up my 55 gallon tank again after being down for over a year, it wouldn’t even keep the tank above 74 degrees. Even before that, the actual temp of the water was 4-5 degrees off from what I set the heater to.

So I was forced to go buy another one and Petco only had 100w or 300w in stock at the store so I upgraded to a 300w. I like these heaters because they are all black and not made out of glass. It matches the black background of my tank very well.

This one actually seems to work perfect. The temperature I set it to is very close to what the water temp actually is. Hopefully it holds up for a long time. Make sure you follow the instructions and submerse it and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour before plugging it in.

And then don’t change the dial for 24 hours and just let it run.

I see so many bad reviews because the number on the dial and the actual temp of the water dont match. There are contributing factors to this. Like what is the temp of the room your tank is in, what size is your tank, is your tank fully covered.

among other things. I have my breeding tanks in my basement. 10 gallon apisto tanks. each with their own 50w PRO. The heaters are turned past the 82deg mark because Im in a basement with temps in the upper 50s – lower 60s.

They keep my tanks hovered where they are supposed to be with a degree of accuracy. I dont have a lot of water movement with just sponge filters running so to keep the other side of the tank at the desired temp, the area near the heater must be subjected to warmer temps.

My fish find their sweet spot and breed in the cave where they choose. Thanks for making a dependable heater, Ive been using these for as long as I an remember.

The Aqueon pro heater has been a great addition to my fish tank. I like that it is made out of thermal shatterproof plastic and includes an auto shut off safety feature. My last heater was glass you could see through and rubber and over time it became cloudy and algae would cling to it.

I think with this new heater it was stay cleaner looking. I love that the heater is fully submersible too. It keeps my fish tank at my desired temperature. The suction cups makes it easy to install right to the side of the tank and they don’t slip or fall off.

So far this heater has been a great new addition to my tank and helps consistently and evenly heat my tank. I would definitely recommend any Aqueon aquarium heater for your tank. I received cash back on my purchase participating in a cash back program on Influenster.

I bought this heater yesterday well because it is the only 100 watt they had in stock. I read the instructions and went by them step by step. Plugged it in, Nothing. Took it out and tried again, Nothing.

Instructions say the knob on top glows red when heating. Long story short, the knob does not “glow red”, It is very faint and dim and can only be seen with all the room lights off. I don’t like that.

I like to glance over and see the light on and I know it is heating. I’ll keep it and see how well it works.

I have four of these currently in my tank. The room they are in runs a bit cold, and it’s a large rimless tank without a cover so these heaters are running quite a bit. Having said that, I keep them all submerged and keep an eye on the “minimum water line” and all that, make sure I am using them correctly.

I have already returned two of these for leaking voltage (measured it with a voltmeter) and just now discovered there is still leaking voltage in the tank tonight. So I will be returning more of these heaters tomorrow and exchanging them AGAIN for heaters that hopefully hold up until I can find a better heater that doesn’t leak voltage into my tank.

Thankful that Petco will accept a damaged product for store credit, but annoyed with the hassle. Try to find a better brand if you can, I’m currently on the search.

Horrible quality control. As mentioned the suction cups barely work and always reattaching them. The worst however is the terrible temperature consistency. Right out of the box I had to set it to 76 degrees to get a 72 degree water temp.

Yesterday found my shark dead and the water at 68. Jacked the indicator up to 78 and the light indicator shut off at 72 degrees (which is great) went to bed and work up to a 78 degree temp. Lowered it back to about 77 and we are down to 71 in the tank.

The heater arrived very quickly. My fish tank had been at about 68 degrees for a few days. When I received the Penn Plax heater, I put it in my fish tank right away. Within 12 hours, the tank’s temperature was up to 75 degrees.

Although the temperature can be manually adjusted, I did not try to adjust it. I let the heater go to the temperature that it was preset to. I like that it does have the option to change your heater temperature, if you need to do so.

My old heater didn’t have that option. This heater works great. I’m very happy with my purchase.

I have kept fish tanks for 20 plus years. For majority of those years i have used Eheim products. I have always been completely satisfied with their products. This heater is no exception as It maintains my Discus tank at 82 degrees with no top on the tank.

I have found their products to be reliable and consistent. I recommend this heater to anyone that needs dependable temp control. The dial is a nice touch, no need to guess at what temp you are setting.

It feels well made when you hold it, as well as LOOKS well made. The cord is of a nice length too, which doesn’t sound like a big deal till you get a piece of equipment with a 2 ft cord that wont reach the out no matter how you place it on/in aquarium.

Over all a quality product at a very reasonable price.

This is keeping my 200 gal. outdoor freshwater pond nice & cozy at 72* now that the winter nights are dipping below freezing. The TOTALLY submersable design is nice & safe and now has automatic shutoff for accidental overheating.

I’ve heard from many Aquarium experts over the years that EHIEM JAGER products are high quality. The several heaters I’ve used have proved them right. Steve Ivy.

This is a heater that in my opinion is durable and accurate, I’ve used these heaters for several years without any failures. Unlike the other brands of aquarium heaters that fail with the thermostat on resulting in huge lost of fish.

In other words these heaters are the best at this price point. Get these heaters you won’t be disappointed.

Very satisfied with this heater, using in rear compartment of AIO 20 gallon rimless cube. Holding temp steady as per setting. Suction cups work well, added an extra on the cord to ensure unit does not touch bottom of tank.

After reading multiple reviews on this unit, decided to purchase based on positive feedback. Especially liking the auto shut off feature, in case water recedes in tank.

I bought the 75W unit to use on a 20-gallon tank. The dial is marked only at 68, 72, 75, 79, 82, 86, and 90, and the numbers appear only in a little window, so it takes some trial and error to get the temperature set right where you want it.

2 of a degree. This makes a stable environment for the fish. I like the red and green LED system telling you when it’s on and in standby. Quality wire and adjustment knob. Long lead too. I am very happy.
