20 Best Toddler Hiking Boots (2022 Updated)

I bought these boots because women’s shoes and boots do not accommodate doctor prescribed, fitted arch and heel orthotics. The heels are deep enough and tall enough to use them. I also bought them because they are the proper height for women with week ankles.

The one thing to remember is, that when you order a boys or men’s boot, you must get a smaller size than you wear. I wear a 6 1/2 in women’s, so I ordered a 5 in boys. That leave plenty room for socks and inserts.

We we’re constantly looking for work boots for my kids since we’re on 7 acres and constantly doing something outside. Shoes fall apart pretty quickly with my boys. These are comfortable, super durable, water proof, and my boys love them.

I bought these boots for my grandsons. Their daddy is a police officer and they needed these boots to complete their police outfits to look like dad. They are perfect! The boys will also be wearing them to help dad clean up the yard from remnants of Ida.

Nice sole for safety walking!.

My son loves these shoes as his go anywhere, do anything option. They’re sturdy, fit well, manage the muck and are reasonably easy to get on by himself. My only issue is the draw-cord. It’s pretty long and, I don’t know about your kids, buy mine reef on those things when they put their shoes on.

It’s stretched out even more, so instead of just reaching the toe, it goes beyond and needs a trim. They could probably halve the length and be just fine without that hassle. Otherwise, no issues!.

My son wears day hikers to school in the fall and spring. These hikers are waterproof, whereas his Merrell’s were not. They are comfortable and easy to put on. They do not have toggles, so I bought toggles.

It makes tightening them a lot easier. The only thing I have to figure out it what to do with the longer laces. I could cut them and singe them. It’s worth it though as they are sturdy and comfortable.

I bought these in the next size up for my son, he has wide feet. I’m glad I went a size up as they are snug in the width and not as easy to get on as other kids’ styles from Columbia. They fit good after they are on.

The elastic adjuster works well to tighten the shoe but when he outgrows these I may purchase the velcro style like my daughter has because you can open that style up more to get on easier, we’ll see how these break in as they are getting easier to get on with wear time.

Other than the snug issue putting the shoes on they are a great product. My son has way better traction from the omni grip sole and he can stomp through puddles without getting his socks soaked. He can move on the trails a lot easier and he’s not slipping all over anymore.

I notice he’s moving a lot easier on rugged ground with these shoes. I do like the elastic adjusters so the only thing I would change about these shoes is maybe be able to open them more or be able to pull the tongue down more so they are easier to put on.

This is definitely not a deal breaker because my son loves them. They are overall great shoe if you take your kids hiking and trail walking with you.

Riddle: What Mount Albert, Gros Morne, L’Acropole des Draveurs or Table Lands all have in common? Answer: MEN’S MT. MADDSEN WATERPROOF HIKING BOOTS (black) At the end of all these hikes, they were in a way better shape than I was, but I would be in an almost catastrophic situation without them.

Boy, I wish I could have these during my military service! They are life savers. Correction: they are feet, knees and back savers. But sorry, you still have to do the walking, they don’t do it for you.

I have weak ankles and bad knees, and I still managed to do all these hikes with the help of these boots. The medium ankle support (leather) is good enough for an average-difficult hike and holds you tight enough to avoid blisters or toes pain due to excessive foot play inside (especially downhill).

But the strength of these boots is the multiple layers sole. The inner one is comfortable yet stiff enough to support your foot well (after wearing them 14 hours my feet were not sore yet) and to attenuate the walking and jumping impacts: it did not kill my knees going downhill (low vibrations and stress to the ankles, knees, legs and toes).

Note: I wore these pair of shoes without breaking them in with no problems!!! The outer layer is strong and durable enough to match the mountain trails hardness while it has a safe grip on rocks (wet and dry) or dusty trails, uphill and downhill.

And all of these at a fraction of the price of a “specialized” pair of boots. Disclaimer: I did not use them in winter/slash conditions or marsh, only summer/vacation time.

Edit 7/29/2022I’m finally starting to wear down the tread on the boots after extensive use in hiking, music festivals, and working construction because they’re more comfortable than my work boots. But the boots themselves have kept together perfectly.

Gotten plenty of use for the 100 bucks and kept me comfortable every step. Bought these because I love to hike, but never invested in boots for it, but also because I was going t attend a music festival in the WV mountains in some rough terrain.

I wore these on two water filled hikes to break them in and after that period they were beyond comfortable. Especially on the soles of my feet. I thought anti fatigue was a marketing term, but boy was I wrong.

Didn’t take the boots off at the festival except to sleep, and wore them during all my flights to and from the festival. I’ve only had these less than a month but I’ve put them through some real tests on hills, rock, water, and regular walking.

I’m going to continue to buy these for as long as they’re around 100 bucks!.

I really liked these boots initially. They were the most comfortable hiking boots I’d ever had, with very little break-in required. I found that the waterproof claim also held up for me. My socks never got wet despite hiking in heavy rain, or stepping in streams and puddles.

That being said, I wouldn’t mistake them for rubber boots. The biggest downside is the sole. It looks like a Vibram sole, but it isn’t. After five or six hikes the boots didn’t have much traction because the sole was almost worn smooth at the ball of the foot.

I ended up replacing them with another, more durable brand after just 3 months of use. If you’re looking for an inexpensive boot to use on just an occasional hike, then these would be fine. If you want something longer lasting I’d suggest you look further.

Review from my daughter is that they are easy to put on, very comfortable and keep her feet dry. Perfect for us who live on the rainy west coast. Quality seems very good. We found they fit a bit wide.

These boots are great. They are warm and waterproof and easy to slip on. My son loves them and its his second pair.

Waterproof, comfortable and stylish…what more can you ask for. Bought the black ones, really like the black and white laces.

They are the right size, look good, but it wasn’t till I had walked around the block in them that I realised the right shoe feels as if it has a bar under the ball of my foot. Not my best purchase, and Merrell are usually so reliable too! I can usually buy size 40 and rely on a comfortable fit.

I wouldn’t recommend them. They are not very comfortable and hence not good value even though they look good. And they certainly won’t make a good long dog walk without causing a limp by the end. Bought online through Athlete’s Foot as they are waterproof.

The shoe supports young feet on or off the trail extremely well, what every parent wants. They have a great rock guard on the front of the shoe that protects little toes and keeps the hikes fun and happy.

The body of the shoe breathes like an expensive adult shoe so you don’t need extra socks to keep feet healthy on the trail. They are well sewn and made of durable ingredients. Even the sols grip and last.

Wow! We buy a lot of shoes, 9 kids, and they all love the outdoors because shoes like this keep it fun and painless. Smiles are priceless and the shoes are affordable. A bargain at twice the price.

We love these shoes! They have become the everyday favorite for my 2. 5 (almost 3) year old. She wears them to daycare, and they are perfect for all-day wear in the fall/winter months. They have good traction for walking & hiking on dirt trails, and the slightly higher ankle keeps out the dust and rocks.

These do seem pretty wide and large for the size. This may be intentional since the barefoot style allows for flexibility and for the toes to spread out. I love this, especially for shoes she wears all day at school.

They are lightweight, very easy on/off and the retro styling is adorable. These are absolutely worth the investment! We will likely get a full year of wear out of them.

These shoes were awesome for our trip hiking the Red Rocks in Sedona. I appreciated that they came in little girl and big girl sizes so my girls could match outfits and provided more substantial ankle support.

They do run wider than regular M sized Merrells but this worked out well with our thicker Smartwool hiking socks so the footwear was super comfortable. I even bought the next size up for each for the future.

The bottoms do not grip as well as other Merrell Trail Ridge Jr sneakers we bought with deeper grooves on the bottom, so I would just watch your kids a little more closely on slippery rocks and in icy conditions.

In any case, these make great everyday shoes. My kids loved them too and preferred them over their other Merrell Trail Ridge Jr. sneakers.

This is the second year I’ve bought these and I will keep buying each year. They are the only shoes that work for his wide feet. The sole is sturdy and flexible – perfect for climbing and exploring. The only downside is the Velcro.

It stopped working after less than 3 months of wear but I filled out the form and Merrell sent us a new pair! With a company that stands by their product like that, I am a loyal customer. I do think it’s important to note that this shoe protects his feet from getting wet while walking briefly in the rain but is not actually waterproof.

Stepping in a puddle will yield a wet foot.

These boots are made for walking as the song goes, but they’re also great for running, climbing, and jumping. Rugged, sturdy, and well designed, Carter’s combines the ease of Velcro and the practicality of solid traction.

These boots are attractive, well made and I expect them to go the distance! Another win from Carters.

Bought these for a Christmas present for my son and we went out for a mile and a half walk to break them in. Because they are boots and not the sneakers he’s used to, there was a little learning curve to get used to the weight (he clomped a bit the first part of the walk), but they fit great, he didn’t trip, and he didn’t complain about any issues after we finished our long walk.

The zips make it really easy to get on and off and he loves that these are his first pair of lace-up footwear.

My grandson loves his new boots! Great fit, sturdy construction, but most importantly, a zipper fir easy on/easy off just like Papa’s boots! According to KY grandson, they run really fast, and you can do chores in them!.

These were fine for my 11-12 yr olds 2-3 day backcountry trips with me in terms of rugged soles and decent uppers on dry terrain but he got total soakers on stream crossings where the water level exceeded the lower part of tongue.

I know all boots leak a little through the tongue gusset but these performed exceptionally poorly. One stream crossing early on and he had to deal with sopping socks for the next 8 hours. We kept switching out back and forth with his one extra pair of socks while we tried to dry the other pair outside my pack but the boot liners I guess hold too much water and kept on re-soaking the switched socks.

You’ll need to stick to the dry if these are going to work out for you. Also the lacing bungee wear out very quickly at the top eyelets.

My son has to wear orthotics and these shoes are super great for that. They are flexible for hiking, wide enough for the orthotics, and strong enough for a Boy Scout going hiking, cycling, and camping on the regular.

However, they are not as waterproof as they claim to be. I will be waterproofing them ASAP. It is a good thing the Boy Scouts are taught to bring extra socks, and to wear thick wool socks. They are water repellent, but not waterproof.

Oh and my son loves the no-tie-quick laces.

My son never liked Keen shoes in the past, but we wanted to try it again. We wanted to buy his next size up so we had the shoe in our possession, however his typical brand is no where to be found. So we tried this specific shoe (I love Keen shoes myself).

To my surprise, he said he loved it. He liked how comfy it is and how there is air flow into the shoe from the top of the shoe. It does run big, which he wanted for next year, but he will grow into it.

If he is happy, then I am happy and Keen is always a brand that I would trust.

I bought these for my two year old absolutely love them! Kids especially toddlers are rough on their shoes so I didn’t want the traditional and found these on the website instead. They are made so durable and the rubber around the toe prevents scratches and nicks in the fabric love love love.

I highly recommend for toddlers teens or even adults who are rough on shoes!.

Truly the best sandals I have ever owned. No straps to fall down the ankle. Comfortable and sturdy, with a great grip; particularly if out in damp weather; beautiful color; dress them down with your favorite cuts offs or dress them up with a gorgeous strapless black dress on a summer night.

My only problem. I have worn mine out. I’d do anything for another pair. Please make this exact sandal again!!.

Bought this boot for my teenage daughter, who happens to be very picky. She loved them. The color and fit is great.

My 2 year old is always excited to wear these shoes. They look like his dad’s hiking boots, but with an added bonus for toddler shoes: there are no laces to tie! They are super easy to slip his feet into and secure with the velcro strap.

I bought these for my toddler and he loves them. They are durable, they don’t get banged up or damaged easily. They keep his feet nice and warm and as an added bonus they are completely adorable.

Got these shoes for my toddler last year. They were great, he loved them and igot alot of compliments on them. Looking to by another pair for this year aswell.

Have had these for just under a year now and have very few complaints. We walk every weekend so they get plenty of wear and have yet to show signs of that aside from getting dirty! Very comfortable to walk in over any surface whether grass or rocky crags as the grip is quite good as well.

They’re not waterproof; water reistant to the rain and we’ve walked through streams without too much issue but the tongue isn’t waterproof at all and after a certain amount the mesh will also not stop anymore water.

Other than that they’re still my go-to pair for hiking because of their comfort. No need to size up or down as they fit quite well in my normal size (6).

The shoes fit perfectly and are incredibly comfortable. However, I have walk approximately 20-25 miles in them and the soles are wearing through. When you consider that these are specifically “walking” shoes, you would hope that they had more integrity.

Nice looking boot, comfortable haven’t rubbed,l and have kept feet dry,true that size. One negative though, as previous reviews have said ,you can feel the ground beneath you, stones ,rocks, sole really does need to be thicker for a walking boot.

I would still recommend though as I can bypass that, but yes would prefer a thicker sole.

We needed up returning these, but only because we found something better suited to our needs. They do run big, so I recommend sizing down. My son said they were comfortable though when trying them in and they seemed to be good quality.

Very cute but make sure your guy wears higher cut socks or he may get a blister on his ankle like ours did. We have no trouble when he wears his long socks.

I purchased these to replace an old pair of Regatta walking shoes that were worn out. As I was very happy with the fit and quality of Regatta, and being unable to get to shoe shops due to lockdown, I decided to stick with the same make.

I am not disappointed. Sometimes a size 5 can be a little tight depending upon make and style. These fit me perfect as expected in size 5. They are very well padded and appear to be up to the usual very good quality.

I am delighted with the colour, not black but dark navy blue so enough to hide all the muck and scuffs they will get on them. Excellent price and service from Charlies too.

These boots are so comfortable from the first time of putting them on. I wear them for walking the dog and my feet have remained completely dry even walking through wet grass. Plus the heel has a good grip for winter time.

Definitely recommend these boots.

Bought these to wear for dog walks as my walking boots are too heavy for the summer months. I take a 5-6 so ordered the 6 just to be on the safe side that they’d fit ok. They did! Very comfortable and can’t feel stones under them when walking on wild land.

A good purchase all round.

Bought these for my wife cause lugz are the only boots that I wear and she wanted a pair. They are very comfortable and come with the memory foam inside for that extra comfort. We both love this color of the boot and its like a sweade type finish.

These are her first pair of lugz and she’s very happy with them and will be for a long time. My past experience with lugz these boots last forever. They’ve lasted longer than any other brand of shoe/boot that either her or I have worn.

Acc they aren’t that expensive either compared to how long they last. For around $70 for a pair that’s cheap when they last for years And years. Would definitely recommend these to any woman and reccomend lugz period to anyone looking for a comfortable boot that’ll last year’s.

Knew which shoes I wanted to purchase, style. color. and size. Delivery was free, and I didn’t need it to be Amazon-quick. that’s ridiculous. Overall, very happy with the new shoes purchase. Was able to get shoes that were not at any of the following: Dick’s Sporting Goods, Working Gear, Kohl’s, Target, Men’s Warehouse, and a couple other places.

I should have let my fingers do the walking and found the Shoebacca option sooner, woulda saved time and effort. I replaced both Lugz simultaneously. The lugz Drifter Lo LX dark tan pair I previously had lasted me 8 years.

The golden wheat pair lasted me even more. The dark tan will last a bit longer and will take a tinted cream conditioner, but the golden wheat will take only a waterproofed. If you take care of them, these will last.

The heal will eventually break down and the shoe will lose its rigidity, but considering this price point, it will owe you nothing at that point.

I’m going to use these Lugz for hiking and outdoors in my yard and maybe because they just look cool and I like them! There is plenty of room in the toe area width. I wear a thick sock and add my arch supports as well.

It’s not a heavy boot. I usually wear a size 8 but I had to exchange for a half size smaller (7 1/2) and I still have plenty of room at the end for my toes. Lugz is a great brand and well made shoe and made with leather ! I got a great price on them and very pleased.

I am a mail carrier and I only wear Timberland hikers. I bought these because the style I normally wear was sold out. They are light which is a necessity when you walk up to 15 miles a day. But they were not comfortable.

The first day I wore them, I had blisters which has never happened with my Timberlands in the past. They are also NOT waterproof. The first time it rained, my feet got soaked. I have been wearing them for 6 months now and they are finally comfortable but it’s time for a new pair.

Unfortunately, it will not be the Euro hike.

I have never owned, or even tried on a pair of Timberland boots. I always thought they were too heavy and Everbodyyyyy has them. So when i saw these in an online review, i decided to give the brand a try.

First off, they are incredibly light. Like a sneaker. Super comfortable. Like an expensive house slipper. One of my favorite aspects of the shoe is the 2 shoe lace hooks. I can tie my shoes in the dark.

Laces just seem to find the hooks with ease. The first time I wore them, I walked all afternoon in Manhattan. With most new shoes, a break-in process is usually needed. But not these “Tim’s” Plus, nobody has them.

Yet !!.

I absolutely love these shoes! Great fit, great quality, reasonable price, shipment was fast, and this product looks exactly like the picture. Highly recommended!

Overall these boots seem like a good value. I actually bought two pair for two kids. They fit well, are comfortable and seem to have good traction and support. My kids are very happy with them. Unfortunately, on one pair (the size 3) one of the lace loops pulled out when we were lacing them up at the trailhead on their first use.

We made due just and had to continue with the hike. Of course LL Bean was great and very quickly and easily replaced them. That was good but the same thing happened again with the replacement. I couldn’t be bothered again so we just kept them and just tie the laces around the back of the boot.

It’s nit a huge deal just annoying and the quality of that piece of the manufacturing process does not seem very good. Otherwise they have been great. The size 5 pair has had no issues and they seem to work well on the trails.

Kids hiking boot options are limited and these still fell like a good choice.

In addition to summer hiking, we like to use these boots as spring or fall footwear for general outdoor playing. My 4 year old twins cannot tie shoes, so this means A LOT of shoe tying for mom every time they are in and out of the house! Other than that, we love the boots.

The kids have found them comfortable for hiking, riding bikes, playing at the park. I bought a size up in fall and they wore thick socks. Now in spring they are wearing medium weight socks and they still fit.

Their feet measure 17 cm and they are currently happy in size 12.

It’s rare that I buy something for my kids and then buy the exact same product again as they grow, but these boots area that good. I have two active little boys, and despite two solid years of use, both boys’ boots still look nearly as good as new.

Little brother is about to move into big brother’s boots, and I will definitely buy big brother another pair. They are durable (tough enough to withstand many cold Montana hikes), comfortable, and the sole seems indestructible.

This shoe is a repeat purchase for me. I bought the same shoe about 15 years ago. It is great in snow & rain. It has excellent traction as well while you out in the elements. Very comfortable as well.
