20 Best Toddler Playground Set (2022 Updated)

When assembled the product didn’t sit flat. The slide and steps tocuh the ground bit the middle sections doesn’t. I also feel like the slide is too steep, though one of my one year olds have no issue going down it.

My one year olds also try to climb the ball drop shelves and end up pulling the unit over onto themselves. Do not assemble in a room you don’t plan on keeping it in. It dosen’t fit through doors with the water table attached.

Lastly, my one year olds pull out the water table plug quite easily and won’t leave it alone.

Bright colors, lots of balls (what child doesn’t like balls?) but assembly can be slightly challenging. The very first step is connecting the support strut to the two side pieces and it soon becomes obvious that no amount of hammering is going to do anything but break the plastic.

A call to customer service and a conversation with a very friendly and HIGHLY knowledgeable rep gave me the solution. Use soapy water or vegetable oil (I used oil)and have a second person steady the pieces as you hammer.

I ended up doing it myself and the pieces quickly went into place. Since instructions are primarily pics (very few worded help) it may not be clear that a small block of wood is best to use rather than hammering the plastic directly.

You will also need to use the oil/soapy water on the rubber plug in the ball receptacle to make it go all the way through as shown in the pics. No info is given on the purpose of this piece — I assume it’s so a child can fill the tub with water?If you are assembling this to go into a different space from where you are working, you likely will not get it through a door (unless you have sliding patio doors) and will need to attach the ball receptacle in the place where it will be used.

I question if it’s really necessary to actually attach the ball receptacle, making it easier to move from room to room or from inside to out. To transport by vehicle you will likely have to wait to actually attach the steps and slide.

When using the black plastic plugs, no need to hammer as shown in the pics. They can easily be pushed through the holes by hand. Really looks great and I have no doubt our grandson will love this.

I rate this product a 3 because it is a good item, my son enjoyed playing with it but the reviews did mention about the construction of it and most said if you’re single mother it wouldn’t work out. I always like to defeat the odds but it was a little difficult, requires a hammer, a screw,which I read on the review, so I went to go buy my own electric screwdriver.

but it also requires some type of block, now I’m not too sure what that was. You cannot return the product to the store, so you would have to wait to contact their customer support for help but I’m Pacific Standard time and I believe they were Eastern & i didn’t want to wait So my mother helped.

They really aren’t any holes where the screwdrivers is supposed to go and I am so glad that I bought the electric screwdriver because it came in handy. It is overall fun product but the building to it can be little stressful if you aren’t use to putting things togethers.

The first 2 steps to this product was the hardest. Fyi.

I have purchased Step2 products in the past for my grandchildren. Now I am purchasing them for my great-grandchildren. However, the quality of the product is not as durable as they used to be. I don’t know if it is due to NOT being made in and by USA only, parts are from other countries which do not have the same high quality standards as the USA in producing children’s products.

We are missing parts, screw, nuts, for the product, Naturally Playful Woodland Climber II, which we purchased for our 2 year old great-granddaughter. I am waiting for the missing parts to finish putting the item together.

It appears very unstable, even though it has all the screw, except 2, in the climber/slide. When we obtain the missing parts and it is still unstable, bottom does not stay together when bumped or moved, we will have to figure out how to make it stable so that it doesn’t collapse when in use.

If it can’t be fixable, then it will be a waste of money and time. Step 2 needs to step up to the plate and make their products like they used to or they will lose business.

We bought this climber for our 1 year old who loves to climb and loves slides. We bought it to keep it outside. There were a few things that were a bit challenging in putting it together. At first, we thought there were defects in some of the pieces because in the interlocking knob at the base of the 2 side walls, one side is straight and one side is crooked.

We believe it is supposed to be that way. We also greased the wheel with olive oil before sliding it on to ensure it’ll spin well. It’s still a bit of a tight fit, and doesn’t spin more than about half a circle with one spin, but better than when we didn’t grease it.

It was really confusing on how to get the slide on at first. My husband had to look up a video to figure it out. Basically you angle the slide and slide it in. There is a notch on each side that it’s supposed to snap under to lock in place.

Well, the second notch that you have to push hard to snap it under, the slide dents in inward! My husband thought he broke the piece! We were able to pop it back out, but we weren’t very thrilled with that being the way to do it.

Then we had to do the same thing with the ladder. Overall, the climber is sturdy, and has withstood some strong winds we’ve had recently. It’s big enough for 2 small kids to play on top. I do wish the wheels spun better, though.

I like that Step 2 products are a strong, durable plastic, that provide some give so the plastic won’t crack. The slide is high enough that it’s fun but she won’t outgrow it too fast.

Package arrived in good condition. Opened everything and discovered all 6 of the 3 inch bolts were missing. The Package was sealed so it’s not that they fell out or were lost, they weren’t there. For the price of this item I expected to have all pieces.

I had to open all three boxes to be sure they weren’t in a separate package. Now that everything is out, I was unable to put it together due to the missing pieces. Very disappointing!.

I was very impressed with this product. Assembly was very easy and the materials are excellent. No metal to rust. No small parts to lose. very clever system of plastic nuts and bolts! it would be so easy to disassemble if needed to relocate later.

I have this in my living room and my girl loves it.

I think it’s nice, but the instructions are not clear. Letters are small too. A bit pricey and I have not really assembled it. ( till next month)

The toddlers enjoy the playset.

Bought this for my granddaughters first birthday and she loves it. The four year old loves it too. Easy to assemble. I put it together myself because my husband was out of town and I couldn’t wait for her to play on it.

I had it assembled in just under an hour. Seems durable. I was hesitant about purchasing because of some of the reviews about the size but it is perfect for her. Glad I made the purchase.

Rather simple to put together for one person. And is wonderful for our son! Only thing that would make it better, is for the “step stones” on the climber portion to be just a little deeper.

Bought this for my 1& 1/2 year old. Swing is so low to ground and he couldnt fit in straps. Slide is very small. Ended up giving to younger cousin whose almost 1. Product says ages 1-3. No way. Its for smaller 1 and under age.

The playset is good. Only disappointment is that the product came missing pieces – mirrors and screws for the periscope were not included. Had to contact company to get them. Our nearly one yr. old granddaughter is having fun climbing up the ladder and sliding down the slide!.

My 2 year old LOVES this!!!! I was able to put it together in 15 minutes. (The parascope took a little longer) It’s not too big, so I was able to put it her playroom. Now she can slide even if it’s raining.

Our 11 month old grandson loves this. Beat pandemic purchase ever. Sits in the middle of our living room now

Took me about 6 hours total to put it together. I’m happy with the quality of the wood – especially after reading all the reviews mentioning soft/split pieces. I think exactly one small edge was split and was easy to sand down.

I’m pretty handy but I’m small and had no trouble building this by myself. A socket wrench is an absolute must! Do not try to build it without a socket wrench. It will end in frustration and a trip to Lowes.

And you’ll want the Allen wrench attachment for your impact driver. It comes with the attachment you need for the regular screws. I made some customizations (put the slide off a different side of the hexagon) and had to cut the railings to match.

All in all pretty straight forward. My kiddo LOVES it. We play on it like every day. And the little hammock/trampoline is a great place to read stories or dry off after a swim. Neighbors have already complimented it and asked where to buy their own.

Once finished it looks exactly like the pictures and our kid loves it. We would buy it again but a few negativesthings to consider-The instructions are clear and it is easy enough to put together, but incredibly tedious, not a single bolt or wood was pre-assembled and that made this a very long assembly process.

If you can hire someone to assemble this definitely do that. We did this ourselves and it was a long process. Again, instructions are clear and easy to follow and it is doable but it will take a couple of days.

-A few of the wood plaques did crack, we were really careful not to over drill, but even then they cracked and I am not sure if we could have done anything to prevent it. Luckily the cracked wooden parts were not essential to the structure.

- If an adult even just sits on the swings, the whole structure started twistingturningand creaking. This is definitely only for young kids and the weight limits have to be followed or it will easily break.

This swing set is absolutely fantastic and more than I could have imagined. My kids love the large eagle’s nest at the top. I love that I don’t have to worry about anyone falling off because it’s large enough for both kids plus me or my hubby.

The swing set came with everything needed to assemble and everything was in great shape. The cedar smells wonderful as you are taking it out of the box. There were a lot of pieces and parts but nothing was heavy and it was easy to lay it all out and follow the directions.

The wood is definitely soft so a gentle touch is needed when hammering. But once it’s assembled, everything felt super sturdy. My husband and I have both played on it with our kids and feel incredibly safe!.

It is an amazing swing set for kids with so many creative and imaginative activities to do. A large group of kids can play at the same time and yet have so many things to do. It is really a great set to have In Your backyard and you can have your own personal playground right at your home.

If is really well made and kids never feel bored with so many activities all the one place. Kids of all the ages have some or the other thing to explore. The dual slides is so amazing and it is a nice size too which kids love a lot.

The monkey bars is such an amazing feature to have in at home swing set, it helps the older kids to enjoy. The underneath hammock is also a cool feature and kids can easily chill and relax in middle of their play.

I also liked the rock wall climber which makes it more exciting to climb and play in different ways. with some assistance It is easy to assemble and there is not much hassle. The wood is Also durable and very nice quality which would last long.

It looks very well made and kids really enjoy to play with so many added features and not only swing and slide. I absolutely loved this set and my kids and their friends enjoy so much and they say it’s the best place to be.

I really recommend it to all parents with kids with lots of fun outdoors.

The KidKraft Spacious Skies 5-in-1 Outdoor Swing Set/Playset has been a dream come true for my 6 year old! The structure seems very sturdy, is made out of stained cedar wood and, best of all: smooth, without running the risk of getting splinters! Our favorite feature – which we haven’t seen on other playscapes – is the hammock.

It’s made out of durable and weather resistant material and makes such a cozy hangout spot. The double slide is another feature we haven’t seen on other play structures other than at a public playground.

My children and their friends had a blast “racing” each other down the slides. And then there’s monkey bars,a climbing wall and 2 swings. Hours of fun for ages 3-10 guaranteed!!! This is a great playscape that checks off all our marks! Well done KidKraft!!!.

The playset looks great. The wood is so light weight and flimsy I’m not sure it will last 5 years. The screws and washers could easily be tighted right through the entire piece and the could have just used nuts and bolts along with screws instead of the system they went with.

The hammock ripped in the first hour with a 35lb child and 56 lbs child just sitting on it. The directions are not great but manageable. The pieces are all marked well and they do supply several extra pieces of hardware in most of the bags that a clearly labeled.

The build took 3 of us approximately 16 hours counting sorting the parts. We shall see how customer service handles the hammock issue.

Swing can be assembled separately and its perfect for 12 to 18 months old, slide can be connected later, for 18 and +.Perfect for indoor – outdoor.

We bought this swingset 5 years ago, for my son’s 2nd birthday. We have since had another little one and both of them (now 7 and 4# play on it almost every day. I’m glad I waited so long to write the review, because I can now attest to how well this holds up to the weather, elements and rough play.

It still looks brand new! At the age of 2, it was perfect #not too high or too big, like some of the wooden sets#, yet my boys still play on it now. I would say an 18 month old or so could even use it #especially with the small slide (little room to fall# and a baby swing.

It’s getting a little small for my 7 year old, but he can still easily swing on it and he likes to climb up onto the roof #yes, he’s a daredevil#. We are upgrading to a wooden set now that they are older, but this lasted us 5 years and we just sold this to a friend for $250, so it definitely holds it’s re-sale value too.

We had multiple offers when we finally put it up for sale – everyone wanted it #and here I thought we were asking too much#! :# There is plenty for them to do and my two boys were even able to swing together side by side without disturbing each other too much.

It hoses off easily and the only metal part of the set #the swing bar) doesn’t have a bit of rust on it, even after owning it for 5 years. We live in OH, so get lots of snow, rain AND sun. The quality of this can’t be beat.

Highly recommend as a great starter set. It was fairly easy for my husband to put together #a neighbor helped, simply because one needed to hold parts while the other screwed them in, etc. ). They built this in our driveway, then easily carried it to the backyard.

I also loved it because it looked better in our yard than some of the traditional metal sets. Enjoy!.

This swing set is a very good bargain and looks good in the yard. Our son has fun swinging and climbing onto the steps to the slide. The slide is a bit rough and levels off sharply at the end, so he isn’t able to slide down very smoothly.

But we didn’t get this set for the slide, we got it for the swings. Since our son is 20 months, we also bought the little tikes baby seat with the front seat belts. Be warned though that that baby seat hangs very low on this set.

Our son’s shoes sometimes drag on the ground and his legs are short. So you may be better off buying the step2 baby seat, which hangs much higher. We wound up buying that swing too. My only criticism is that the instructions are bad, with only pictures and no text.

Some of the pictures are confusing or just plain wrong (like the picture that shows the tower the opposite way as it is on the box). Also be careful when tightening some of the bolts as they can easily be over tightened since there is a lot of give in the plastic and metal parts.

My parents gave our 1 & 2 year olds this swing set for their birthdays and I can’t imagine a better gift. I was shocked as how quickly my husband and nephews put it together. I was expecting hours and lots of frustration but instead it took maybe an hour and was really easy.

The only change we made was to swap the swings that come with it out for the toddler bucket type seats since I wasn’t comfortable with them being able to hold on with in the swing just yet. My 2 year old was all over the slide and was able to maneuver on the ropes or ladder just fine.

Since we just put it together I can’t speak to durability or weather resistance but so far we are very pleased. It is a smaller set which works well in our yard and doesn’t overwhelm the entire space.

I’m confident we will get may years of use out of it before my boys outgrow it.

This model seems to go on major sale as in nearly half the “listed” price often. I thought I got it at a great price but 2 weeks later it was even lower under two bens. The hardware is nicely packaged in sealed compartments.

The whole thing is not the sturdiest but it’s pretty good for use by 3-7 year olds. Not quite high enough for much older in my opinion but others seem to say it can be enjoyed by up to 9 year olds. I think they would be too tall for the swings.

I spent several weeks researching playsets before getting the Skyfort 2 with wave slide. I don’t know how this set has so many great reviews. The wood is very thin and many of the boards are warped. Some are also cracked.

This made it very difficult to assemble without breaking them. Some pilot holes were in the wrong place and some didn’t have any at all. We have a 40 lb 5 year old and 60 lb 7 year old. If only one of them are swinging or in the fort the whole playset just makes the loudest screeching and wood bending noises I have ever heard.

It sounds like it’s going to come crashing down. I stood under the fort floor and saw the floor boards bending as they walked on them. They are only 100 lbs together so this should not be happening. The slide was bending with their light weight so I had to call customer service and they said they would send a replacement but we aren’t letting them on this set.

It would need lots and lots of reinforcement and not sure if that would even help. When the kids are both on the glider the whole fort would sway even with anchors. This shows the wellness of the thing as a whole.

It took my boyfriend about 50 hours to assemble but we have considered taking it down and sending it back it was so expensive and not worth a tenth of what it cost. I’m so disappointed I could cry. I’d be surprised if this thing lasted 6 months.

I have several suggestions. 1) A list of what hardware you should have leftover with quantities would be extremely helpful. That way you can compare what you have left over with what you should have leftover and more easily determine where any mistakes may have been made.

2) Building off my previous suggestion, it would also be advantageous to be able to click on the parts in the parts list and have a menu pull up with a clickable list of steps in which that part is used.

3) A quick access ruler to measure hardware that came out of the identifying packaging would be very useful.

I just started putting this together yesterday and at about 3 hours in, I’m almost finished. The kit is great quality, all of my screw holes line up, everything is there, etc. The kit is lighter than expected, like my wife and I can move it around with no issues, but it does come with anchors to anchor it down.

It’s also a little smaller than expected, which is fine, I just didn’t study the measurements like I should have. Overall, its a great kit though, especially if you have a smaller yard.

We purchased this fabulous set for our little grandson and he absolutely loves it. Two swings (we paid extra for a bucket swing seat as well as the ordinary seat), a climbing wall, slide, covered fort on top with mesh sides for safety and complete with a blackboard too.

It was straightforward to erect, with clear and detailed instructions and is very solid. A great outdoor play set he’ll enjoy for years. Thank you.

It has some tipping issues because we weren’t sent the proper kit with it to put it together. Never heard from selker to fix it, itherwise its a really cute swing combo

The product itself is a high quality play set and my daughter loves it. The different sections keep her entertained. She loves the kitchen and we added a telescope to it. That being said, the product came with missing screws and damaged pieces.

Asked for a replacement piece (weeks later we still haven’t received it). Ended up going to hardware store to replace screws and sanded down the wood that arrived scratched up and/or splintered. Recommendation to Kidcraft: have a quality control team go through the items before shipment and have some layer in between the wood and the box so that layer can take the damage in shipping rather than the wood.

Given the length of time to receive the replacement piece, if it ever arrives, when it comes time to replace this set, I probably won’t buy a kid craft play set again.

I only gave this 4 stars simply because we were missing a part and one of the pieces was broken which was a inconvenience. I called kidcraft and they replaced the broken piece and sent the piece I was missing super fast.

Overall it was fairly easy putting it together. My mother in law did 90% by herself in a weekend. You will definitely need two people for the tube slide but it wasnt difficult just time consuming. My daughter absolutely loves it and I would definitely recommend.

VERY flimsy! The top swing screw doesn’t fit so the plastic cover won’t fit. It is up against a wall because it is so flimsy-wouldn’t last outside. 100% supervision needed with this. The poor quality is not what I expected from Little Tikes.

Definitely has downgraded their materials as well as their quality control over the years! I do NOT recommend this item!.

I purchased the Little Tikes Hide and Seek Climber & swing just over a week ago for my 1 year old granddaughter. It arrived today, I’m pleased to say all the parts were there, it was easy to put together & is very sturdy.

My granddaughter absolutely loves it, her face lit up when she saw it & has had a great time playing on it with a little help from her Mum & Dad. Thank you Target for suppling a truly wonderful product, it is just PERFECT.

I have a 4 year old and a 16 month old. This playset is wonderful for them. I would not say that they have hours of fun on it, but they do have a lot of fun on it. I see so many negative reviews on this product.

My opinion is in the contrary. If anyone was to hear your suggestions on how to fix a negative reviews, here are my suggestions. Follow all the instructions on how to properly set it up and take your time.

Make sure all the bolts are tightened before use or you may have a horror riffic accident. Never leave your children unattended. They can fall off of the perch after climbing the rocks to get to the slide.

The swing does move a little bit, but use common sense on how to stop it from moving. Put grippers underneath Each corner or under the desired areas to secure the bottom. Use a really long yoga mat underneath the playset.

It will slip on carpet and it will slip on hard floor unless you use non-skid non-slip protectors under each corner or wherever you wish to place them or a really long yoga mat to keep it in place. The swing is not as low as everyone says it is.

My four-year-old is in the 30th percentile height and he can still swing on it. No matter what anyone says this is a wonderful play set and I would highly recommend it 5 stars all across, but if the safety rules are not going to be followed or common sense is not going to be used I do not recommend this playset.

Our playset turned out great! Our son loves it. My husband and I put it together ourselves. I’d say it took approximately 12-15 hours total and that was over the span of 3 days. We did spend 8 hours straight on it the first day and got the bulk of the building parts put together.

My husband then finished the details and roof by himself over the next two days after work. The instructions were easy to follow but we did have a little issue starting off. We didn’t realize/notice the many different holes in each piece and didn’t have them all in the right directions at first.

We did end up having to take apart some of the main framing pieces to flip the boards around. It’s super cute, super sturdy, we all try to fit in the upper house part and it’s strong enough to hold us! Lol.

This is not the original swingset I had ordered. After several months I had to hound Backyard Discovery for the status of my order. They kept saying it was “in the warehouse preparing for shipment”…then weeks later they said it was out of stock, so I picked a new one…the Canyon Creek.

As with most products sold nowadays, this is made of extremely low quality wood, you have to assembly it yourself, and it is outrageously expensive. Ours did not make it through one season and we have split wood in several pieces.

I cannot get over the cost for such poor quality. You even have to build the slide.

I really enjoyed construction the canyon creek play set for our kids. It was a long process but it’s finally done. Did it myself with some instructional guidance from my wife and it probably took 25 hours over the course of 5 weeks.

Work, life, etc got in the way but the BILT app is so helpful and the steps are not very extensive. Not many tools are truly needed to get this done. I used my power screwdriver/drill the entire time it felt like.

3 swing system is great for young toddlers who struggle with sharing swing time.

This product is great- sturdy and the kiddo loves it. We bought the infant/toddler swings and attached them for now. Assembly was pretty easy- took about an hour to put up by myself. In reading reviews, I was expecting to spend the entire morning- These tips should help: 1.

“Read” the instructions and have a plan. There are no words, but laying out all of the parts and bolt assemblies helped a lot. 2. Toss the white plastic bits and bring out a wrench and socket set, both size 14.

This will reduce a lot of time. 3. Bring a rubber mallet. You DO NOT need to drill extra holes. The instructions ask you to hammer bolts through some of the smaller slots. Do this gently with a rubber mallet and you will be fine.

You’ll also use this to maneuver some of the plastic pieces into better alignment. Reduces more time. Oh, and the bolts holding the A-frame to the feet- the mallet saved me here to get the bolt through the slightly misaligned holes.

4. The pole for the swing extension- the side of the pole where the end is shorter after the last hole goes into the climber side. Double check this because if you mess this up, you will have to disassemble and reassemble.

Saves time. 5. The 3. 5” bolt issue- you do not need longer bolts on the cross bar of the climber. These are injection molded pieces so they aren’t always perfectly aligned. If you maneuver the cross bar with someone, you will get enough of the bolt through to start screwing.

Finish with your socket and you won’t have to go to the hardware store for longer bolts. Saves time. The fidgeting and maneuvering helps in most steps. 6. Anchor last, not first like the instructions say.

It will save you rework. Saves more time! All in all, love this product! Hopefully these steps help you assemble yours and saves you an hour or so!.

I was planning on building a smaller climber with slide and no swing set for my wife’s daycare, but I just haven’t had the time. This was reasonably priced so I went for it. My wife and I like that it’s a little on the smaller side, which is perfect for kids aged 2-5 in our daycare.

It’s a good step up from the tiny equipment we had previously, which is better for 1-2, maybe 3 year olds. I like that it has climbing parts on it, although I kind of wish the main climbing part was on the outside instead of the inside where kids are swinging.

I also think the deck could be a little higher to allow for more clearance in the play room, and this would also allow for the slide to be a little taller, but might require a redesign of the crossbar above that area to be arching or something.

It seems sturdy and well built, and the large bits were easy to put together. There is a small problem with the red cross bar over the playhouse side. You have to slot it in and thread through bolts with washers from the outside.

The problem? The bolts are too short. I was barely able to get it to catch if I took the washers off. So I did that, which compressed it down enough that I could get the other side on with washers. Then I took off the other side, put the washers on, and tightened it back on.

I think I had to do one other thing, but can’t recall. I then had to repeat on the other side. I get that they don’t want the bolts sticking out so that kids catch on them, but they either need to get the tolerances tighter so that piece fits together better, or they need to include longer bolts and simply have those bolt caps on them to prevent them from scratching kids.

At the end of the day, I’m very happy with the product, but I’m not sure if most regular people would have the strength to get it squeezed together enough, along with the knowledge of how to get it to work, for it to be a super easy build.

Maybe mine was an anomaly? Once it’s together, it’s a great set. #sweepstakes.

We got this for our 2 year old who is super active, and so far he loves it! It was a bit of a challenge for my husband to put in our yard – some pieces didn’t quite fit and he and my father had to make some adjustments.

Took them a full morning to put together, but in the end it was worth it and we love it. I bought a separate bucket swing from amazing since our two year old can’t quite do the regular swing yet, and Step2 didn’t have a good bucket swing to purchase separately.

But our son loves climbing in the bottom nook, doing the slide, and swinging! I can see how he may outgrow it in a few years, but so far we love it!.
