20 Best Tops For Nursing (2022 Updated)

I’ve purchased nursing tanks from several different stores and this brand from Nordstrom’s is my far and away favorite. The fabric is soft, thick (not sheer, even in light colors), and has good stretch.

The chest fit is supportive without being tight, which can be bad for your supply and body when you’re nursing. The straps are sturdy and adjustable. The clasp is easy to use one-handed. My only “complaint” is that they sewed the tag to the back of the shirt.

(There isn’t a side seam, so they couldn’t attach it there. ) This wouldn’t be an issue (it’s a soft tag) except that the tag is like 4” long, so it sticks out the back. I just cut it off. Super small “complaint” and well worth it for the best nursing tank I’ve found.

I was looking for camis for nursing purposes. I purchased two camis: black and white. I love the texture of it. It is very soft and stretchy. I’m tiny (height 5. 1 ft & weight 115 ib postpartum stage – 4 mths).

I usually fit in XS or S. However, when I measured my body, over bust size was 33 inch and bottom bust size was 34 inch; hence, I chose M instead of S. (I also purchased Bravado bras with size M when I was pregnant).

And, it fits me perfectly. It is very tight on breast and tummy side that helps to hold nursing pads and my post-mama’s belly so that I don’t have to worry about leakage. The length of this cami is quite longer than I expected but, I just tuck the bottom part underneath the pants or dress.

I would definitely recommend this cami!.

Good support. Material wicks moisture well. Can be worn under a shirt or on its own The seam at the back does put pressure against the skin, which causes some strain on that area of the back. When one cup is pulled down, it does spring back up a bit unless you purposefully push it out of the baby’s way, so it may possibly interfere with nursing.

Also, the edges of the inner band under the cup have started to fray less than a month into use. Worried that this might continue to unravel unless there is intervention. How does one prevent further unraveling of the strap?.

This shirt has such poor design and quality of fabric, I want to scream. The fabric bunches up around the neck immediately, which means I’m pulling on it constantly to get it to lay flat. Forget “flattering” – the best outcome I can get with this shirt if I keep adjusting it is “not sloppy.

” Also, it’s POLYESTER. Because of the price and the t-shirt type style, I was expecting cotton. Nope. This is the least airy, most stuffy and sweat-inducing shirt I’ve ever worn. Who wants to wear a sweaty shirt clinging to them while breastfeeding?? It would be impossible to successfully wear this all day, and nor do I want to.

I wish I could give it ZERO STARS. Only kept it because I had to since it was on sale. Also, don’t make the same mistake I made. You should thoroughly read up on their return policy BEFORE ordering. I made two orders with multiple items each in the same week, and disliked the quality/fit of nearly everything I ordered.

For each parcel they deducted $10 from my return amount for the “labels. ” Before shipping them back I had even called (useless) customer relations to ask if I could just use one label and combine the return items in one box with two packing slips so I could save $10.

No dice. They also require returns within 30 days of ORDER date which is outrageous to me considering A) it took over 2 weeks for my orders to get to me with their standard shipping, and B) I was buying nursing clothes because I had just given birth.

All moms know that doing things like printing $10 return labels and getting yourself together to go to FedEx to return items within a short turnaround time is super challenging when your baby is just a couple weeks old and you’re still recovering.

Maybe Motherhood knows this and banks on the fact that the constraints of their return policy on postpartum moms means extra money in their pocket. If so, this is beyond greedy and corrupt. A good business is mindful of the needs of their client base and helps to accommodate them.

Returns should be flexible and free for moms who are in the challenging phase of pregnancy/postpartum, when you especially don’t know what size you are anymore and should feel welcome to order multiple sizes to see what works and then return the rest within a reasonable amount of time for a full refund.

Can I get an amen? I will NEVER buy from Motherhood ever again, despite the fact that I plan on having a few more children and will need more maternity/nursing items in the future. Their clothing quality is laughably poor for the price, and the business practices are shady, not to mention costly to the customer.

Great quality in fabric and craftmanship. Super cute and comfy. Bought for my daughter and she loves it. This is the 2nd tee this still, different color. Fit is spot on. Pre-pregnancy size is L and we bought size L.

Can’t beat the price. I have purchased various items from Motherhood Maternity and every piece of clothing is quality, stylish and affordable. We returned one dress because my daughter was not in love with the style, just wasn’t ‘her’, but she thought it was cute for someone else.

=) Orders ship quickly. You can’t go wrong.

Love these shirts. Soft, functional, look pretty nice. All one color, not 2-toned like some of the pictures of the olive and gray. I have 3. Really easy to discreetly nurse and quickly cover up again.

Wash well. I’d say the shoulders are narrow. Many Motherhood maternity brand things are too big in the S (nightgown especially), but the small in these is great for me.

I LOVE bamboobies because of the amazing material and the ease of use for nursing. So far I have 6 bras, 3 easy access tanks, 4 seamless tanks, 2 nightgowns, 1 chic nursing shawl and 2 open front nursing shawls.

I have had no issues with any clothes until this last order which is unfortunate. I don’t even inspect my items for flaws so immediately to the washer went my grey easy access tank and my shibori open front nursing shawl.

Couldn’t wait to wear the new colors of items I already have and love but there were issues with BOTH items. Unlike the black open front shawl, this one had a tag rather then lettering right on the material.

The tag was partly tearing off the shawl leaving a noticable hole where the stitching ripped. I was so sad. Then I went to put on my grey tank only to find the stitching was very messy. So messy that the material bunches up at the seam on the sides which none of my other tanks did.

It also looks like it’s inside out even though it’s not because of the poor quality of the sewing. I wanna say this to is just a defective one because my other two are good quality. I hate to leave a negative review but I only do this so they know the potentially newer items could be flawed.

I washed my items which is why I didn’t attempt to return them. All said and done I still 100% recommend bamboobies products to anyone and everyone, just be sure to inspect your items. The bras are amazing, they’re the only ones I wear and everything else is amazing and soft and feels so luxurious.

Clothing washes well, no fading or pilling.

Love that these are very comfortable and light. Nice for around the house right now. But I foresee them being awesome for “out and about” convenience & comfort when the weather starts to warm up in my area & we’re doing more activities outside with my other kiddos.

I do think these seem to run a tad on the bigger side, so depending on body style & of course personal preference (fitted VS comfy/loose style) I’d consider maybe sizing down if you like the more fitted look, but prob close to TTS if you like the more loose feel.

I have two of every color and thinking of ordering more black. Since I’ve been home with baby I’m only wearing these and the BAM nursing gowns. SO COMFORTABLE, easy access, very flattering. Even when I was 195lbs 9months pregnant (5’7) it fit perfectly and now I’m down to 170 and dropping and medium is still the perfect fit.

GET THIS NOW!! You will not regret it! I just need them to add more colors. I will be wearing these for a long time to come! True to size chart, their stuff does run big but it’s all explained in the size chart! And let’s not forget the price point for the quality.

Okay but nothing exceptional. Comfy enough, but already fading and getting misshapen after a couple of washes and this is a highly laundered item. Other bras have a nicer more comfortable and durable material.

I do like to use it in additional to a nursing sports bra for running to help contain my breasts from bouncing too much which is handy, just worried I am going to wear it out really quickly.

Comfortable but its kind of bigger around the stomach area making my belly look bigger than it is. Other than that the material is nice and good quality

Fits smaller than expected and more of a grey black than true black. Also has weird ruching in the front but overall serves it’s purpose.

Bought this as I’m having a summer baby in the DMV and it’s regularly 90-100F outside until late September. If you need a nursing top for warm summer weather this isn’t it. The material is heavy and double layered completely around, and is most definitely not lightweight and breathable as advertised (I tried it on in AC and was sweating immediately).

And the nursing access was…weird. It didn’t feel all that accessible without whipping out half your chest in public/twisting around awkwardly. I’d rather wear a single layer lightweight T-shirt with easy access and less sweating than this.

This is one of many kindred bravely products I have purchased for pregnancy and postpartum. I purchased this particular tank in white and it’s comfy, but it’s stains soooo easily. I have stains from my 2 month old’s spit up all around the collar.

I try to keep it on the burp cloth, but frequently I end up with breast milk all over myself. So for the price , I simply wouldn’t recommend. It’s something I can wear around the house but really can’t wear out in public because of the staining.

The moment I put on this top I loved how it fit and felt and was planning to keep it. Luckily I kept the tags on and tried to figure out how I would nurse in it and that was the deal breaker. It was too annoying to pull up the top layer and then the pull the bottom layer over – then I had a lot of material I was holding up and couldn’t get to my bra clips easily.

Also the bottom layer is really short and lifts up showing my midriff and backside some which defeats it being a discreet nursing in public top. If I needed a solid black tank top in my everyday wardrobe I might have kept it but I have lots of clothes and need nursing stuff atm.

For me I’m sticking to clip down camis bc zippers and panels are just too much at least for where I’m at in my BF journey. Constantly feeding newborns require quick and easy access.

I bought a few of these tees after I gave birth and they were one of the best purchases I have ever made! The design on the side of the tee makes it so easy to nurse wherever you are whether that is in public or in the privacy of your own home.

The tee is also highly absorbent so if I leaked or while I was breastfeeding some remained, it quickly dissolved into the shirt and dried in seconds. This tee is awesome, especially for busy moms who have to breastfeed on the go!.

Love this t-shirt! Extremely soft material and it drapes nicely and fits great. A good basic to have and I’m sure the nursing feature will come in handy. This is not at all sheer, which is great to find for a white top.

Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because it is hand-wash/lay flat to dry, which is kind of a pain, and it’s a little pricey. Despite those cons, it is so comfortable that I would have ordered another in a second color, but Nordstrom was completely sold out when I went back to check.

I’m a 2/4 and like tops to have a loose, but still tailored fit and the small was perfect.

I like how soft this is and how you can’t really tell it’s a nursing top at first glance. However the light gray color, double front layers, and tighter fit made it not as flattering in the waist as I hoped.

Also when you lift up the outer layer to nurse, the placement of the slits on the under layer that allow for nursing access aren’t ideal. They are too low and all the way on the side seam. This requires you to sort of lift and move the under layer to nurse, revealing part of your belly.

I returned it.

True to sizing and fits well. Fabric is of good thickness and quality and is not see through. Very comfortable and makes breastfeeding in public so easy! Just lift the front of the top, slide the underneath left or right depending on which side you are feeding your little one and then pull the top down when done.

No stomach exposure and is very modest. Thank you for a quality made and easy to use product. Would definitely recommend this product.

This is the exact shirt I needed! I had 1 similar double layer nursing shirt (from H&M) when I was nursing my first son that I wore CONSTANTLY. Other moms would always ask me about it since I was able to nurse discreetly while still wearing a semi-normal t-shirt.

This shirt is so much better. The quality of the fabric is wonderful, it falls nicely, but isn’t too heavy or to light to be see through. I love how the outside layer is longer than the inside, so no one but you would ever know you’re wearing a nursing shirt.

I’m 5’6” and currently weight about 135 (2 weeks pp) and I ordered a small and it fits great – not tight, but I’m not swimming in it.

The free bra was nice, but not very good for someone with bigger breasts, they are not supportive and the added padding gets bunched up every time you nurse. I like the quality and feel of the fabric of the shirts and tanks that I bought.

I wish I had of known before ordering that one was hand wash only, but I really enjoy wearing it and it looks really nice on. The way that the nursing area is disguised and accessed I think is clever in all of the shirts and tanks that I ordered.

Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase and I think the prices are fair.

I love Torrid’s nursing camis!! I am a new breast feeding momma, and I live in these. I bought two black and two white, and I wear them under everything. I have large breasts (38 DD) and these give me enough support with the built in bra, that I do not need to wear another bra underneath.

It was such a relief to find flattering, well fitting nursing items as a plus size mom. Anything I have tried anywhere else has not worked for me (when I can find it in my size) so I am so so grateful to have these.

I can nurse without having my belly exposed! Also, I go back to work soon, and these will cover my belly while I am pumping in the mother’s room! I only wish they made more colors and styles. Great product Torrid! There is not alot of flattering plus size maternity and nursing clothes out there, but these hit the mark!.

I like these nursing camis a lot. I wish the bra wasn’t so tight. It’s almost difficult to pull down over my breast, which are already full and bigger as is. These camis wouldn’t be good to wear without a bra to go out in, unless you’re comfy doing that.

I would be comfy under a sweatshirt but not under a shirt. They are SUPER long! I don’t mind this, especially when I’m just wearing them at home over leggings anyways. These do fit true to size, except for the unusually tight bra.

If you use portable pumps the tightness holds them in place really well! Always a positive to every negative!.

I bought a couple of these for my post partum breastfeeding times. They are nice, stretchy, and long. The shelf bra will be enough for hanging around the house and maybe for quick errands. The extra fabric is a little lumpy over the breast area but it is comfortable, and may just take some getting used to with some adjustments.

These tanks are going to be nice for underneath a sweater, sweatshirt, or really any kind of shirt post partum and they are way more affordable than some other nursing tops. I’m glad there is this option for us plus size nursing parents.

These are a great option for nursing, as they keep your tummy covered if lifting up a shirt to feed. There is an elasticated support under the bust. Clips are very easy to do up/undo. Medium is quite generous.

I was a 8/10 before pregnancy, but with still having a bit of a tummy and bigger breasts now, I prefer medium over small. These are comfortably enough to wear at night too.

Easy to clip on and off with one hand, easy to breastfeed in. Straps are length-adjustable for shorter people. I was unsure whether my new larger cup size would fit in an xs – which I wanted because I’m keen to not have too much loose fabric around my stomach.

XS in this top has significantly more boob-space than other xs tops from h&m. Fabric has washed well (only washed three times for now).

I am a mom to 3 kids and I ordered the small, which I normally purchase but missed that there was a built in bra in this tank. The bra is very small, and doesn’t stretch much. If I had known, I would have purchased the medium as the tank feels stretchy enough, the medium would have felt fine in size and the bra inside wouldn’t feel so small.

I feel like this is perfect for a young girl or who is small chested (or maybe someone who hasn’t nursed 3 babies). The straps are adjustable so that’s a plus! Cute, nice and soft, but I am going to size up to a medium.

I originally ordered this tank in Black in a size medium. Medium prior to baby 5’7 160ibs currently. The fit is tight however it does offer some support because of it. Works well so then purchased in the white size Large.

Fit is more comfortable but it is RIGHT see through. Looks ridiculous with the pad will be returning. Going to try the beige instead and will report back folks !.

I absolutely love these tank tops!!! I’m a DD chested girl and these tank tops have a built in bra and adjustable straps that actually make me feel supported enough to go braless! That’s RARE for us big Chester girls! The material is so comfy and it’s NOT CROPPED which is also rare now for American Eagle it seems.

Not too thick not too thin. Just overall perfect. Bought one and loved it and instantly ordered 4 more!!!.

Ensuite ces saletés d’étiquettes !!! Pourquoi coudre sur le coté une étiquette en peau de hérisson ? C’est horrible j’ai la peau blessée à cause de cette monstruosité ! J’ai du ouvrir les coutures de mes 4 débardeurs pour enlever les étiquettes et refaire une couture à la machine à coudre.

Les femmes enceintes ont la peau du ventre sensible, ne le savez-vous donc pas ?.

Honest review. It’s convenient… the only part I like is the zipper and the black on top. I feel like the other colours wouldn’t hide the postpartum sweat. I don’t like the white especially with a newborn.

It’s also very boxy and has no shape. I’m a pear shape 135 and 5’5. I got the large so it would be a little long but it just makes me look heavier and zero waist. Not flattering at all. The material was surprisingly good quality.

My sister-in-law was gifted one of these nursing shirts shortly after giving birth. Since then I have given them as gifts to every pregnant woman I know and EVERYONE loves them. So thoughtfully engineered and practical.

Omggg I want all of these! This is incredibly soft, comfortable and flattering! Pregnant and I imagine not pregnant as well. The charcoal grey is a tiny bit lighter than the photo, but so versatile. Nursing will be so easy in this and even help cover baby up for a few months! 5’3” 200 lbs and very pregnant and medium fit me perfectly (I’m all belly) but it seems like it’ll drape super nice postpartum.

I always wear a medium in maternity but a large not pregnant so it’s true to size for maternity but runs large for normal women’s wear. Its thinner than it appears in photos, which I’m very happy with.

I run hot 24/7 now, but it still keeps me warm since it’s winter. It’s my new favorite shirt! I want to come back for another but missed a free shipping on any amount day, I’ve already spent so much this pregnancy (and prior) on Pink Blush! Their quality and style is unmatched.

Oh. my. goodness. let me tell you about this sweater wrap. It’s easily the best clothing purchase I have made in my third trimester and perhaps all pregnancy. Even if I had no plans to get pregnant, I would still rock this because it’s so nice looking! I initially bought this to put in my hospital bag as a nursing sweater in case it gets chilly, but loved it so much I decided to get two more.

Can be dressed up or down. I literally live in these things and baby isn’t even here yet lol. Highly recommend. I wore the charcoal one to my most recent baby shower, it’s slightly lighter in color than pictured online which I love! For size reference I am 38 weeks, 207 pounds (178 post pregnancy) and the M fits me great, even slightly big.

I just received this item last night, and I knew I had to come write a review because I’m so happy with my purchase! The item is just as pictured but even better than expected because it fits me so well – the sleeve length and overall length of the top is perfect.

These tops are super soft and very comfortable even during late pregnancy when your belly gets itchy, so I’m getting a lot of use out of them. But the front panel is very flowy and loose, so when you’re lying in bed there’s some unexpected peekaboo action.

I think I prefer the older style with the separate top panel that lifts up. Also the lighter colours are very see-through.

This material is so incredibly soft and comfy. I have 3 of these now and wear them as everyday nursing shirts because I haven’t found anything else I like as much as these! I have 1 in a large that’s a little bigger since having baby and losing pregnancy weight, and 2 in medium.

I prefer the way the mediums fit, but the large is ultra comfy!.

I like this top because it’s so soft and easy to set up to nurse. I wear it out and since it’s so easy to use and with the extra material I don’t use my cover any more ( I have gotten better now that my son is 3 months old).

My only negative is that the extra fabric on the front is a little heavy so I have to pull it up on my shoulders every now and then but it may just be me since I have small rounded shoulders.

I bought this twice. The one is with long sleeves but on the second i shortened the sleeves and now i wear during summer, short sleeved. Its amazing and i love it. One of my favourite tops. You dont have to be pregnant to buy it.

I bought this recently to have a smarter, plain top I could fit into with my growing bump and hopefully post partum, for nursing. The length is great, it covers the bump and goes down to the hips, nice wrap front for an elegant cut and to make nursing easier (when I get to that).

Not too tight, so space for a growing bump. I like it. I am usually an 8-10 / S. The 10 was too big for me. I kept the 8, which fits nicely but not too clingy, so I would say stick to your usual size / smaller of the two if you fit into a range, like me.

This is probably my cutest nursing top. The neckline is a plunging V and it’s very flattering. There isn’t a strip of fabric on the neckline to provide more modesty, but I think it looks better that way.

I really love this top, so comfy, really soft fabric, great fit. I was nervous of the nursing top section and whether it would open when I was walking around, but it’s all good. Not a lot of overlap, but stays closed.

Nice long top, great for pregnancy, I feel like it will be a great nursing top too. I bought another one on the same style after this.

I’m always so in two minds about ripe maternity products. On the one hand the quality always disappoints me but on the other it is a lot cheaper than most other products out there which are crazy overpriced.

This top is fine. It probably won’t last very long and there were lots of loose threads to trim off but it does the job and for under $150.

Really liked the quality and the comfort however just a couple of things I thought could be improved: 1. As a relatively short woman, I have a pet peeve that most nursing tshirts, dresses etc are designed to cater for pregnant women and are therefore very long in the torso.

I appreciate the pieces are designed for longevity however I will be nursing longer than I’ll have a bump! 2. Again, not sure if this to do with my size, but i had to make the decision whether to sit the bottom part above my boobs so there was an obvious line under the ‘top’ flap as it didn’t come up very high OR pull the bottom section down so it sat below my boobs and bunched a little?.

I get compliments on this shirt. I especially love the green color. The material is so nice and thick enough that it makes me feel comfortable that every bump and groove is not showing. The only thing is that, because of the interior shelf, the chest area is not totally smooth and a little frumpy.

I love this shirt! Very comfortable and It doesn’t look like other nursing shirts in that there’s no fabric bunching up at the midline- which is a good thing. I love it so much that want to buy it in multiple colors.

Soft fabric, functional for nursing. Fits narrow in the shoulders and loose at the waist – even for my pear body shape, I’d prefer the shoulders to be a little looser and the waist to be more narrow.

I really wanted to love this shirt. Especially since I felt I couldn’t really wear t-shirts since I’m nursing. This top made me realize how much easier it would be to simply wear my regular slightly loose t shirts than trying to make a this particular nursing shirt work.

The design seems smart until you think through all that motions you need to go through in order for you to nurse your baby. Move the front drape to adjust the center hole for access to one side or the other, unhinged nursing bras should you choose to wear one, adjust yourself through the hole and then finally nurse your while managing to keep all of these pieces of fabric in place.

I tried this in two different sizes, (the shoulders are quite narrow) but overall the design is it too complicated to actually work in real life. Will be returning.

I love this top! Super soft fabric and relaxed cut make this easy to wear. The slit in the center works well for nursing. Just note that the white is more of an off-white/undyed cotton color than it appears in the photo.

Perfect nursing friendly tee. I bought the black one and now want to get another in white. It’s totally discreet and doesn’t look like a nursing tee (even when the wind blows you can’t accidentally see the slits).

I found this one more flattering on my postpartum body.
