20 Best Torch For Cooking (2022 Updated)

This kitchen torch deserves its high ratings. I was a little worried about ease of holding given the torch is attached directly to the butane canister, but it is very comfortable to work with. Once on, it stays lit without needing to keep the ignition trigger pressed, and the diameter of the butane container is easy for me, as a 5’5” woman, to hold.

The flame is easily adjustable for any strength flame. The “full-blast” flame is direct and strong – great for creme brle. A softer flame is just right for meringues. The torch top stays attached to the butane canister until the canister is empty.

I haven’t used one up yet but one canister supposedly last for an hour or more (per the manufacturer). The torch comes with a plastic oval base for the butane canister, and I find that useful. This is perfect for the serious home cook.

You don’t need a bigger torch head, and the smaller refillable one I had never had a flame half as powerful as this, plus, it was a hassle to refill. I use the same brand butane canisters as the torch, Iwatani.

Great butane torch, useful for many kitchen applications! the build quality is solid, and the adjustment knobs allow for fine tuning what flame you want. I was recommended this by chef J Kenji Lopez-Alt and it is a great pick!.

As expected. An alternative version is available with much better packaging but at a non effective price point. Both are great for professional use and or home. Personally, i like the trigger function but do not care for the stand.

However, this particular version is sensitive to water.

Great quality, easy to use once you figure it out. Safety makes it a little harder to get use to, probably a good thing. Takes quite a large amount of Butane, not sure how long before more is needed.

Would buy again, great for Baked Alaska. I am amazed at all the things you can make with this kitchen gadget.

It was so hard to hold the button to on at all times. I wish I had known that it turned off the second you lifted your finger from the on button. I thought you could turn it on, brulee my dessert, then turn it off.

My hand ached afterwards and I never completely finished the bruleeing because it was so hard to squeeze it on and keep that pressure on it with brute force. I do not recommend this one for that reason.

The torch fire size and intensity was very good, as long as you could hold it to the on position.

Very good quality. I’ve gone through several torches lately and this is the first one that has a serviceable handle component (visible/accessible screws). The handle is some sort of metal, not cheap plastic.

I enjoy the use and feel of the torch. I hope it lasts a long time because I really like it!.

To be fair, I haven’t used this product, as it was a gift. But, as as fan of a refined aesthetic, the look and feel of it made me feel like I could torch the sun. That’s right, literally torch the sun.

Unassuming as it is, its chrome barrel of fire rays and laser-accurate heat vaporization provided me an instant connection to that flaming ball of dangerous gases in the sky. How? Beats me, but if you just buy this thing, you’d understand.

You either own a Rosle Kitchen Torch, or you don’t. I’m now a physicist, and all I came here to do was write a review.

Great kitchen tool. Well-made and probably the best on the market. Unfortunately, I was a little intimidated by the gas fuel process so didn’t use it. I returned it because I was afraid I might do it wrong and cause a fire.

But it’s just me!! I’m sure anyone else would be perfectly safe. If I had someone to help me I would be OK. I loved the size, feel, and durability of it and regret not able to keep it because of my insecurities with devices/technology.

Excellent cooking torch that supports standard butane canisters avoiding the pesky (and pricy) re-fill canisters needed by self-contained torches. This torch ranges from a low pilot to a screaming jet of heat, and the adjust-ability is great between these extremes! The only complaint I have so far is the control knob is inverted from what I expect! I often turn the torch up when trying to turn it off.

I LOVE THIS TORCH! I’ve never seen a torch with an adjustable air intake, which is a great little feature on this baby. The locking mechanism for the butane bottle works perfectly and the ignition spark always lights on the first try.

This butane torch sears salmon sashimi like the sushi restaurants. Easy to use and more impressive than the tiny torches with expensive refills. The gas regulator was acting up on my 3rd usage but maybe my butane fuel was low or I didn’t shake it prior to use.

Will need to test this out further.

Was super excited to use it the only thing I found difficult at first was finding butane that was compatible. I thought I was going to be smart and get my butane from sams club and be set for awhile but found it isn?t compatible with the sterno brand butane fuel carriages they current sell at sams club, but funny enough I went to Home Depot and got the bernzomatic butane carriage and it worked perfectly.

Made creme brûlée the other night and will definitely have fun with more desserts to use with this lovely torch!.

I gave this to my husband for Christmas. It wasn’t a surprise though. When he opened it he said, excellent now we can have dessert! Creme brûlée is one dessert that I can have occasionally. I avoid all gluten and grains.

You do need to buy the butane separately. We also used it for New Years Eve.

So happy with this torch. Going to use it tonight to finish sous vide filet mignon. Glad I read up and didnt buy a toy Creme brle one. This is high powered and Im loving it. But it can be used for finishing creme brle and so many other things.

I live in an apartment and don’t own a grill. I can set this on a small table on my tiny patio so that I don’t set off any smoke alarms inside. Would work on a balcony too. I’ve grilled fish, pork belly, and chicken so far.

The fish stuck to the mesh, but the meats were great. Even got a bit of char on them like a full grill.

This lil torch is awesome! Very simple to use; it attaches to a butane canister by spinning and clicking into place. Once on, you turn the back dial to adjust the strength/feed of the gas, and the button on-top activates a spark in the nozzle which lights the gas.

Small, feels very nice in hand. I’ve deducted a star because, after only light use (probably less than 30 times), the lighting mechanism is not as responsive/strong as it used to be. Sometimes I have to get the gas lit with a bbq stick lighter.

We bought this cooking butane torch to toast marshmallows for our ice cream topping. It has a nob that must be turned before butane comes out and a button to press so the flame comes out, which is great for added safety.

The only downsize is having to buy a separate item for butane, it’s just used as the device that creates the flame. However, I’ve also used the other torches and in comparison, this one has a much stronger flame but can make you easily burn yourself since it comes out faster and stronger.

This is the BEST Butane Torch out there!!! I was always afraid to use the torches that attach directly to the butane can cause knowing me, the can would explode in my hand. So I’ve been using the other style torches, the kind you fill & you can’t light a match with let alone caramelize the sugar for the creme brulee, ya those.

Well, I put my fears aside & purchased one of these. Simple to use, just attach to the butane can, turn the knob, hit the button & voila, a flame that can actually put a hole in something & doesn’t explode.

So if you want some serious flame, look no further. I’m just sorry I wasted my money on these other 4 or 5 useless torches.

Completely baffled at the review before mine, some people just never learned basic shapes and how things fit together. This is a gorgeous torch, well engineered, love the air inlet control ring in addition to the fuel control ring, and the outer locking mechanism is a godsend for anyone that uses torches for baking in the kitchen on a regular basis.

Your thumbs will thank you for it! The flame runs smooth and blue and can burn from the tiniest little pocket lighter flame all the way up to a blistering 8 inch cone of hellfire. The body of the torch is wrapped in beautifully machine copper that holds its luster well with use, and even without any fuel in the canister there’s a pretty decent amount of weight on it to keep your investment upright and planted well on your working surface and far away from accidental drops, dings, or other mishaps.

This is definitely a kitchen tool I plan on keeping nicely kept and around for a long time for many more uses to come. Very satisfied with this purchase.

So I have been using this torch for about a month now and am very pleased with it. Having used a torch that screws onto a canister for years, I found the butane capacity was shockingly low at first. I frequently have to refill a couple times if I am charring veggies or steak, however, it will get me through caramelizing crème brûlée for my family (4) or meringues.

For most home cooks this is absolutely adequate and looks fantastic. I have to admit, it was my love of copper that attracted me to this torch initially and that is why I still use it. As another reviewer pointed out, the packaging and appearance is superb.

It would absolutely make a lovely gift. I wish the butane reservoir was larger, but I won’t knock any stars for that since it was expected.

I got this from the last drop and so far I’ve been really impressed. The packaging was really nice and would make for a good gift. I’ve only had a few chances to test it so far toasting some merengue on a pie and finishing some nachos by torching them to get the cheese perfectly melted and almost charred.

I’ve also used it to light a few candles. I’m using Colibri premium butane in mine and so far it seems to work really well. I haven’t had a chance to test it yet but if this thing can sear a steak after I sous vide it then I will be 100% satisfied with my purchase, and at this point I’m pretty confident it will be able to do that just fine.

Very intuitive and well designed. Very easy to operate. Compared to similar torch from RONSON, this product deserves the FIVE STAR RATING, I highly recommend this torch over the RONSON.

I had a kitchen torch years ago but stopped using it. Lately, I found I needed one again so I purchased this one. It was easy to fill with Butane and it works really well. My only complaint was the package was opened and it looked like it was returned as there were no instructions and the plastic that held it in the box was broken like it was opened.

When I biy a NEW product, that is what it should be- NEW.

This is an absolutely great torch. Lights instantly, easily fits in your hand, light weight! What more could you want? Bought a different brand in Walmart and it was a disaster. no light. hard to hold.

had childproof (adultproof) lock. A mess, so returned. That one makes this one shine!.

Works great! Bought to replace a very old one that lasted years. Easy to use. We use to light our Fireplace, Grill, etc too…not just for food 🙂

After a search for butane, which Walmart did not stock in the store, I attempted to fill and use the torch. I followed the pictured directions and nothing happened. The child protecting button turned back on as soon as I pressed the light button.

Now that it has butane in it, I don’t think I can return this.

We bought one from John Lewis and it worked for a few hours, and then wouldn’t produce any flame. We returned it to the store and they agreed it was a poorly built product and gave us another one. This broke down even quicker and never made a spark, let alone a flame.

A complete waste of money and we would never buy anything from this manufacturer again. We have friends with perfectly good kitchen blowtorches, and far cheaper than this overpriced shoddy rubbish.

I bought this as a stocking filler for my wife – she’s a great cook and was missing a blow torch from her armoury! It’s good quality and a good price. I also bought her main Xmas gift of blue tooth headphones from John Lewis – excellent service and price for both items.

Die unterschiedlichen Möglichkeiten, die Flamme einzustellen, finde ich gut. So kann der Flambierer optimal an das jeweilige Gericht/Essen angepasst werden. Meine bisherigen Ergebnisse haben mich optisch und geschmacklich überzeugt.

Mit dem Flambiere werde ich daher noch weitere Gerichte testen.

Leider Fehlanzeige. Auf der Rückseite im Kleingedruckten habe dann ‘Gas-Füllinhalt: 64 ml / Butangas’ gefunden. Zuhause habe ich dann festgestellt, dass KEIN Gas enthalten ist. Auf der Unterseite der Packung habe ich dann auch den entsprechenden Hinweis gefunden.

Andere Hersteller machen so etwas besser, wenn z. B. deutlich lesbar auf der Frontseite steht ‘keine Batterien enthalten’. Ich musste also noch einmal los. Ergebnis: 30 Minuten + 1,3 kg CO2-Ausstoß.

Der Betätigungsknopf muss man mit gutem Druck bedienen was gut ist wenn es mal ein Kleinkind in die Hand bekommt.

Die Flamme lässt sich präzise durch einen Regler einstellen. Es ist massiv verarbeitet und macht einen langlebigen Eindruck. Der kleine Gastank ist leicht zu wechseln und es gibt sogar einen passenden Aufsteller für das Produkt, sodass man das der Flammbierer darin immer aufrecht verstaut werden kann.

Great torch for starting fires and anything else you’d want a torch for. The gas regulator allows it to produce anything from a small candle flame to a flame thrower. The bigger the flame the quicker it burns through gas and the louder it gets; at full throttle it can sound like a jet engine.

The folding handle works well for storage and a safety lock keeps it securely locked in the open or closed position. This unit is very effective at getting fires started quickly and is a must have if working with damp or inferior wood.

Pros: – Easy to use and effective for starting fires. – Regulator provides good range between a small flame to huge flame. – Comfortable wood handle with hanging hook. – Folding design for easy storage and has included storage bag.

Cons: – Noisy – Doesn’t have a built in ignitor, so you must have an additional lighter. – the flame can be inconsistent with changes to canister pressure, movement, or turning the canister upside down.

You could be using this on half power and moving it around your log pile and the flame intensity will increase or decrease. – The unit is relatively short and requires being extra close proximity to the fire you’re starting.

Improvements: – Add an ignitor. – Improve the regulator to avoid the impact of pressure changes if the fuel canister shakes or is turned upside down. Pro Tips: – Start with a small flame and let the unit heat up for a moment.

This seems to help with the performance and consistency of the flame; especially in colder temps. – Move slowly when using to avoid pressure change and sudden changes to flame intensity. – Be patient; not all wood starts instantly.

Sometimes inferior wood takes longer to get going then you think and you might prematurely stop using the torch before the fire is ready to sustain its burn. – Use this at half power otherwise you’ll waste fuel; the fire is still going to get lit.

– Can be used to start charcoal but you’ll burn up so much fuel doing so; start charcoal in a chimney and use some flammable tinder. – Don’t unscrew the canister when near the fire; gas leaks out during this process and will result in a fire ball; been there done that! You’d think this is obvious, but just giving the warning; I’m sure the instructions say the same thing.

When car camping, I use it on cold mornings that you want a fire quickly. I also bring it on shoulder season bikepacking trips. To save space and weight, the handle is easily removed for those trips, and you hold onto the canister instead of the handle.

On my last bikepacking trip, it was the difference between having a warm fire or not. The only flaw in the design of the torch is the difficult to press toggle that allows you to collapse the handle.

You’ve really gotta get your fingernail in the to depress it. Otherwise, this thing is perfect. If you live in Canada, expect to get wrecked at the border with duty. I paid almost the price of the torch in duty to import into Canada.

Really wish Snow Peak had decent Canadian distribution, the gear is amazing.

I’ve used this several times so far, the last time conditions were damp. This was able to ignite & dry out enough little stuff to start a fire for drying out larger pieces. It does use a lot of fuel, but that’s apparent when you see (and hear) the flame.

It sounds like a genuine blow torch. But even with regular cooking over a couple nights, a large MSR tank lasted with gas to spare. My only gripe is that once in a while, when pointing it down, the flame will go out.

It wouldn’t be a problem if they hadn’t over-promised by saying it works upsidedown. Also, an ignition click would be cool. I bought this with an ulterior motive of heating up my uhh, “essential oil burner” I take on the trail.

Unfortunately, the flame is not so controllable or concentrated for that (I found my stove works great for that). Fortunately, it’s the best firestarter for when it’s wet, or you’re in a hurry to get a fire going.

I’d have to say this is my favorite thing I’ve splurged on in my pack RN.

This is a very good torch for jewelry making, Silver soldiering. You can melt your silver scraps down and use to pour cast,but takes some time to do so. You can soldier your Silver wire/plate. Be careful with the stock nozzle, 3/4 inch.

I keep mine turned no higher than about 3 turns on the propane valve and about a half turn to maybe one whole turn on the torch head valve. I’ve done 20 GA. Silver plate soldering,two plates on top each other and I’ve soldiered 10 ga.

Square wire. 10ga. X up to 6. 0 mm wide. That’s a pretty large piece for me. My. Butane torch would not do it. This torch? If I’m not careful this torch would definitely melt the Silver. The bad things I would say,.

The knob on the valve at the propane tank striped out after 4 or 5 uses. I fixed it myself, it was not completely tightened from the factory and let it pull out enough to make it start striping out so I’d check it just to be sure.

Also it Need a smaller nozzle than 3/4 inch. Even 5/8 inch would be a lot better. Also the hose is not like the one pictured it’s orange and mine is black an rigid, stiff not very flexible. It can be a hassle at times,I have to stop and straighten it out.

It could be a little longer to. For those reasons I took one star off of the review. Otherwise it would have been five star.

A very nice set, that comes with two very nice unadvertised bonuses. It comes with a nice carrying case, which if you remove the foam rubber, is large enough to hold everything needed to use it, except the gas cylinder.

It also comes with a base to hold the cylinder. The hose is too short to use if you’re standing and you want to leave the gas cylinder on the floor, and the base doesn’t weigh enough to keep the cylinder in one place while operating the torch with its stiff hose.

These main inconveniences are likely to come with any set up of its kind so they were not unexpected. The torch worked flawlessly, and even though it probably is not recommended, I used it with MAP gas when I wanted a hotter flame.

Needed to solder 3/4 inch copper pipes for a new hot water heater. This kit has both a powerful torch, as well as two other fittings, one which fits around 1/2 inch copper pipes (Might do a 3/4 tube but seemed to bind on mine) to give a great heat source to solder the joint.

The long gas tube allowed moving the torch relatively more freely. Only problem was the propane tubing is somewhat stiff. meaning not only is it somewhat difficult to pinpoint the flame around the circle of the copper pipe, but the bottle of propane at the end can fall over or add resistance to movement of the torch.

In my application I used only the torch to sweat the 3/4 inch copper pipes.

Brought this for my reme Brulee that i brought at Audi’s tried one of the Creme Brulees didn’t have the Creme Brulee torch getting ready to try it out. First one I did without the torch tasted like I remembered from my 8th grade all girl’s French class.

I use it for Dental torch applications, heating plastic forms and molds. The range of the flame adjustments are excellent. Flame locking function is a great idea. Will try it for food preparation in our Snack Bar next door.

best torch ever. 3rd one i’ve bought and i’ll buy one again.

The first one was defective, bad filler valve. The ignition safety was broken on the second one but I made it usable. Cheaply made but for under 15 dollars we’ll see how long it works. I would personally suggest a different product.

This torch has multiple uses and we give it 5 stars. It does not come with butane in it so you need to have butane on hand for use when you receive it. It produces a great flame that has different temperature points for different cooking techniques.

It is very easy to use. We used it for putting a sear on our steaks before cooking. Not everyone has a BBQ that gets a perfect sear but with this torch we get it every time. I also liked it for quickly melting cheese and heating/crisping the pre-cooked bacon we buy! Smores anyone?.

The directions on how to use need to be rewritten. No directions on how to fill. No recommendations on the type of butane fuel to use (needs pressurized butane). A major fire hazard was created because of me purchasing the wrong canister of butane and trying to put fuel into canister.

The directions say easy to fill. BS. The only reason I didn’t send it back was some torch owners went on YouTube to explain how to use it.
