20 Best Torch For Soldering (2022 Updated)

Worked the very first time I assembled and test fired it and never worked again. It wouldn’t even light with a separate lighter. It was junk so I returned it.

Higher heat output unit. Great to have the output control knob to reduce heat for delicate jobs and saves gas. Instant start is fantastic

I purchased this torch to use my searsall attachment for searing my sous vide meats, works very well, as do many other options, for searing. It certainly has it’s time and place, I’d do it again if I needed.

Love these little guys; wore my old one out, hence buying a replacement. I don’t bother with the refillable tank; scripto or similarly shaped disposable lighters work fine. Just check them before buying; if one makes a flame 1.

Very Happy with the torch, but the the refillable cartridge will not hold butane. If butane is put in it the torch is usable for a short time only. The torch has a hotter, stronger flame when using the refillable cartridge.

Hoping that customer service will send a replacement cartridge. Still satisfied with the torch.

I would have given 5 stars but the “fuel cell” that had to come empty USPS reg. Had a leak so I went down and bought 3 cheap lighters for a buck and they work great. A Tip you have to adjust the flame control up or down till it’s right then it lights up fine.

Y’all remember that old Radio Shack version? This one’s just as good if not better! I keep two at all times, one with the soldering head, the other with the torch head so I never have to switch heads on the job.

This is an excellent torch. We use it to put together pewter figurines. It is used 8 to 12 hours aday, 8 days aweek.

This is my second J-500. My first lasted 4 1/2 years with one tip change, even though it was used several times a week servicing xray equipment in the field.

I have used this torch head for years and finally threw it in the truck one to many times. Finally broke it from abuse. Great Product…I bought 2 this time.

Great propane torch with the ability to adjust the flame and position of the flame 360 degrees.

I’ve owned 4 Bernzomatic soldering irons, and all 4 of them broke after a month or 2. This one is much better built, heavier, and comes with more accessories. I should have bought the dremel a long time ago.

Yes I recomend this dremel 2000. I forgot to mention the fuel tank is roughly double the size on this dremel also.

I use this primarily to solder my hand made jewelry. It is excellent when working with small parts. It heats fast and the temperature control is precise. The flame lock is ver handy. I can reach all the controls with one hand.

The gas canister is quite large an burn time is impressive. You get a lot for what you pay for. The metal case holds all adaptors firmly. I would highly recommend this Dremel tool.

I would have stayed with a red handle, Radio Shack torch with interchangeable tips. I’ve owned 4 of them in the last 17 years or so. But they are not easily available, so I picked up on the Dremel. I like their power tool.

It is a nice little piece. So far, the Dremel Torch is better than any torch I’ve ever used. Time will tell, but parts are available.

IšverstiShow in original languageOkay, I’m not going to sugar coat it. It takes some finesse to fill it with fuel, to light it, and to keep it lit. To fill, mate up the upside-down butane can, press using quick short bursts, you’ll get some spillage but that’s normal.

Before lighting, slide the adjustment to low, turn on, hear the gas flow, raise the sleeve to show the flame hole, then light. Continue holding the sleeve up, make flow adjustments until you see a nice blue flame, let it warm up for a couple of minutes, let go of the sleeve, and then turn the valve up to high.

You know it’s lit when the back end of the tip glows orange. I use a bic lighter to light it. Best to have a springy soldering iron holder to hold it while it’s lit until your ready to use it. Gas doesn’t last long and you can hear the gas flow start to diminish.

Probably not safe but I’ve refilled it while it’s lit. Heats up faster than an electric soldering iron and nice for heating shrink tubing also. Beats lugging an extension cord.

IšverstiShow in original languageI like the flexibility of this butane soldering iron. Not only is it a soldering iron, it is also a butane torch and has the ability to seal heat shrink tubing without burning it.

I had hoped that buying a Bernzomatic I would be getting a quality piece of equipment but it only managed to work for about 2 months before the igniter stopped working. I really enjoyed the freedom not having a bottle attached to the nozzle gave me.

It made working, especially in close quarters, quite a bit easier. The holster was a bit of a joke. The nozzle did not stay in there well at all and the bottle was very awkward when it was in the holster.

I just set the bottle close to where I was working and it worked out better. Hopefully others who purchase this unit get a bit more longevity out of it.

Torch worked well. when it worked. I had it for only two weeks and used it on two small projects with propane. On my third project, the torch stopped working. It sounds like something is wrong with the valve.

I can hear slight hissing, but not much pressure, and not enough to light the torch. Tried with the valve fully open and every position in between. I replace the torch with a similar item from Mag-Torch.

Way more reliable, but no auto off. Once the valve is open, the gas is always flowing. Only way to turn off gas is to screw down the valve. The Berzomatic shuts off the gas when the trigger is released.

Needed one with auto start (light) I have a T200, earlier model without auto lite that works great also, hope this one works good like the T200. The T200 wouldn’t work when held horizonally, had to start with a match or lighter.

Flame would go out if adjusted less than 4. you Tube has a video about these problems, Air trapped in Butane Tank, dirty nozzle and how to clean with compressed air, Works Great now but doesn’t have auto Start.

Like the T500 features better, Now I have two but only use one at a time.

Above I checked “YES” for good value but that may be a bit premature. Value is based on cost verses quality and longevity. Out of the package it’s of the highest quality, which I would expect from Benzomatic.

But the true value can only be determine by how long it last, my concern specifically is the igniter mechanism. But I will say that it looks like a fine tool I hope it will last a long time.

I do a great deal of heat shrink electrical connections, and this tool is perfect. An easy size to work with and does not produce too large a flame. The fuel capacity is large enough to complete a full days work.

I have a Blazer mini Butane torch. I ran over it with my tractor so I bought this one. Turns out that Blazer torch STILL works! But this one came and I was very pleased with the accessories that came with it.

I wanted a torch that was similar in design and build to the Blazer, which has lasted me a long time and has been used a lot. This torch is very similar, not exactly the same, but similar features, with an adjustable flame, which is a plus.

The torch must be manually turned off with a slide type plastic switch. I do like the Blazer rotary knob better for this function. But this kit has a very nice heat shrink tubing attachment and torch head adapter (lengthens the path of the flame so it is not too hot) and it also comes with what appears to be a very nice soldering head, which I have not tried yet.

Overall I gave this item a four star rating because the features were not quite what I like on the Blazer.

I messed up my old micro torch, which was an Inter Forte torch and I didn’t really like it anyway. When I got this torch, I liked all of the accessories, but I was more impressed with the ease of use.

My old torch didn’t hold the flame with the flame lock. This one works perfectly. It is easy to start, easy to control the flame, and easy to keep the flame on.

Best little mini torch ever for electronics, heat shrink, and wiring applications. Easy to start, fills nicely with standard butane refills, and adjustable. Comes with everything you need except fuel.

The carrying case is nice to keep everything together.

My primary purpose for buying this was for minor electrical work, specifically heat-shrink installation in places where my electric heater can’t be used due to lack of mains power and inaccessible spots in tight corners.

The presentation is good, but while the carrying case is very neat, it could benefit from a robust hinged lid and stout catch to stop the contents spilling out. That’s a minor point and a big rubber band will sort this.

I am unlikely to use some of the accessories, and had originally thought i would use it in open-flame mode, which requires the catalyst to be removed. However, the hot air tip turned out to be absolutely ideal for heat-shrink, being flameless and small, so easily directed, and the deflector works very well too in this situation.

The solder tip is easily interchanged with the hot air tip, so it is simple to solder wires, swap the tip for the hot air one, and heat-shrink the joint, all without removing the catalyst. The knife will be useful for cutting/sealing terylene cord and a few other tasks.

All in all I expect this tool to be a very useful addition to my toolkit. I have only given 3 stars for reliability as I have only had it for a few days, but it’s simplicity and design lead me to believe it will prove to be reliable in the long term.

You will need lighter fuel for this. Easy to get, easy to fill. Comes with a range of tips. Instructions could be more detailed, but there’s plenty online. Marked one star down for not including pyrography tips.

The box blurb says it’s suitable for this, but bits not included. Soldering tip heats really quickly. Safe to put down to cool. Range of other tips in the metal box it comes in. Being gas there is no need for trailing leads.

Refilling also doesn’t need electric power – so good in the field.

Looks good at first, nice packaging , variety of tips, etc. but : Ive been using it for couple of weeks, few days ago I noticed it doesnt turn on, and while being off the gas kept leaking for few seconds.

Now its constantly leaking!! so if you have a fire close to it, even when its off itll catch fire! The bottom line: a main feature of all these type of products is a proper and safe design of the gas valve which in case of this product failed to operate safely after couple of weeks! I dont recommend this product because I dont think the its safe to use.

If the gas valve is faulty then pretty much the whole product will be unsafe and hence useless.

The inferno propane torch kit. Rightfully named. As soon as I ignited this bad boy, the neighbors called the fire department. I just wanted to burn some firewood for the ‘gram but apparantly its illegal to burn firewood attached to a house.

10/10 would purchase again after they lift my probation conditions.

I ordered this product online (not available in store) for use in clearing weeds from my chipped rock driveways. I have previously used a friend’s much heavier industrial grade unit for the same purpose, and decided to obtain my own because it worked so well.

Also, some jurisdictions no longer allow sale of these units, so I wanted to obtain one while I still can purchase one. After only one use, I must say how pleased I am with this product. I thought the price was very reasonable, and for a small charge, the product was delivered to my door within a very short time.

It arrived well packaged (blister packed display package within a sturdy shipping carton), complete with detailed and easy to read instructions and operating recommendations. This unit is well constructed, lighter and easier to use than the other unit.

It produces a hot flame at a reduced valve opening (less fuel used), and has an effective safety valve/lever that instantly cuts off the gas when released. Well designed, well thought out, and a pleasure to own and use.

Highly recommended.

I recently brought the gb2001 cause I was sick of my other jet lighters breaking or just becoming useless. So I thought I’d splash out and buy an expensive one. Within less then a week the lighter has lost basically all of its power and It even blows out from the slightest breeze.

Tried multiple premium gases to. Done a lot of research and believe they are good lighters i must have just got a dud. Tried asking for return or preferably replacement and got told to get hold of Blazzer about it have had no contact back at all very disappointing photo is of it maxed out.

Solidly built (metal and screws, and minimal plastic). Comfortable to hold with textured rubberized body. Nice flame management with both gas, and air, knobs; with all controls (gas, air, and starter) smartly located.

Starts right away. Keeps a steady flame in all orientations.

I am using this for metal Clay jewelry. It seems to be much better made than the Bernzomatic micro torch that I previously purchased on Amazon. The Bernzomatic stopped working after a month of use. Was shipped quickly and price was better than elsewhere.

Would recommend and would purchase from JB Tools again.
