20 Best Torrent For Ebooks (2022 Updated)

The aesthetics of this thing are great – no doubt. The materials are generally fine, except for a few locations where they could have used aluminum instead of plastic – especially given the price. The easy to remove panels and filters are fantastic – especially as you build your machine and continually have to test what works and what doesn’t.

Although it fits a very beefy video card (EVGA’s RTX 2080 FTW3) and CPU cooler (Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro), these larger components do start to limit room to maneuver cables as you get closer to finishing your build.

I also had to put in a larger PSU (1200W) than originally planned. This case fits my 850W PSU perfectly, with lots of room to spare for the bigger MB, PSU, and VGA cables. However, the PSU on my kid’s machine croaked and I ended up putting the 850 in that case, while I upgraded to a 1200W on my own build (due to a sale, not because I really needed it).

The room to connect the cables on this setup is VERY tight. It can be done, but it is not without difficulty. On that note, a lot of the cables have to be run behind the MB, as with most cases, but that space is exceedingly narrow.

Luckily there are cutouts on the panels for extra Velcro ties, but no extras are included with the case. It took a lot of finicky cable puzzling work to get everything to a point where the back glass panel wasn’t faced with a tonne of pressure.

I ended up having to secure that panel with a screw to make sure it wouldn’t pop out at some point. Speaking of needing extras – while the Nexus 9 fan controller actually does a really good job balancing noise and cooling, its placement in the case is.

terrible. It’s at the bottom-front of the case (close to the 180 mm fans), but needs to be connected to the CPU fan and PSU (top rear). I needed fan extension cables to connect my CPU fans to the Nexus 9, which – again – should have been included but weren’t.

It also requires additional power from the SATA connector on the PSU, which means, more cables in an already cramped space. All in all though, these are ultimately surmountable obstacles, and only act as minor detractors from an otherwise highly functional and effective case that keeps my components cool at minimal noise – and it’s not bad on the eyes either.

Hopefully, Fractal Design can continue to build on this design and add a few more quality of life changes to future iterations.

I’ve always been a fan of air-cooled cases and hardware because of its simplicity. This case puts all that first and then sorts out the rest. Too many air-cooled case designs are held back by permanent brackets that get in the way of larger fans, creating noise and restricting air-flow.

This case has zero obstructions in front of or behind the dual 180mm fans in front, not counting the necessary dust filter. In order to install smaller fans you have to add the brackets, a simple solution.

The lower part of the case is also covered by fans allowing for high positive pressure to reduce dust and force hot air out. No rear fan is required because the air flow is so abundant. I have all the fans running at about 48% speed, give or take, and it’s plenty of airflow while keeping the case almost completely silent.

The included fan-hub works great for this (just be sure it’s the new version, I think it says v1. 1 on the board). Inside the case is very roomy, plenty of space to do whatever you want and no worries about current or future GPUs not fitting.

Even the width of the case is roomy allowing easy install of the NH-D15 with headroom to spare. The back side where the cable management is well designed for routing, but it could use another centimeter of space or so.

Just take your time and get everything routed neatly and close up the side panel, hopefully it shouldn’t be a problem until you plan to change or upgrade something. Exterior of the case is intimidating, it looks like an old IBM server brought into a futuristic design.

I went with this full opaque case for the extra dark look. Overall I think Fractal has nearly hit the apex with this one, just need to clean up some minor issues and it’ll be an almost perfect design.

I only wish they had the White Solid case available, it doesn’t exist (yet?), but I’m fine with the Black Solid.

I am stunned by the aesthetics of this case. It has clean lines, a massive front grill, small details like the gray bezel surrounding the power button, a honey comb rear grill, a chamfered edge metal front logo plate and a ton of space.

This case is enormous! I was taken aback with the sheer size of it. For scale, I uploaded a photo of it sitting next to my old Dell XPS tower and it absolutely dwarfs it! I decided to forgo the glass panel as flashy RGB is not my style and I think it looks so aggressive without it.

This case has serious presence sitting on my desk. The front grill is plastic which is to be expected, along with the surrounding bezel. The paint however is a matte black which I love. Every seam is very tight, you can tell this is a premium case.

The Fractal packaging was delightfully thoughtful with a fun logo pattern adorning the inside of the box and good graphic design on the parts boxes & manual. It’s Apple-level of detail, very impressive.

I’m extremely happy with my purchase, looking forward to building my Intel Adler Lake machine in it this weekend. Feb 12th, 2022 Followup: Installed everything and this case just simply shines. Cable management is a breeze thanks to built-in velcro cable ties.

Love the PSU container, plenty of room for excess wiring that remains completely hidden. This case is really silent too. At idle it’s whisper-quiet. Construction is built to last, very heavy duty and satisfying to build in.

Highly recommended.

Overall, the love the elipsa pack. I think the price is a little steep, but I’ve had a great time reading epubs from the kobo store, importing my own epubs, and reading and marking up pdfs. The screen is nice and big, but it’s lightweight enough to hold with one hand.

The stylus works great and I’ve had no issues using the notebook feature. My one complaint is the cover. While it works as intended, i don’t love the powder blue color and i hate the faux leather look.

I carry my elipsa in my backpack a lot and two little portions of the blue faux leather have already come off. As of now, you cannot buy a replacement cover, either. The cover also does not fit snuggly around the e-reader.

There is a small gap on the left hand side that allows the e-reader to “float” up out of the cover. It’s never enough to cause an issue, just a little annoying for such an expensive item. In the photo you can see that in the top corner the device fits securely and is below the lip of the.

Further down on that side the device rises above that lip. Despite the issues with the cover, this is easily the best e-reader I’ve ever used and i recommend it regularly.

4. 5: this is a newer technology, so there are a few hiccups here and there, but it does as advertised and is very convenient. I have nearly daily migraines due to a brain injury and can’t use tablets, phones, or computers for long periods of time, so the screen on this is perfect to allow me to read again comfortably for the first time in years.

The only minor downsides that hopefully can be fine-tunes in software updates are as follows: 1. In the notebook feature, you can adjust the size of the stylus stroke and thickness, which is great, but when annotating books or PDFs, it’s still quite thick which makes it difficult to read after the fact unless you create MASSIVE margins in your PDF (not an option for your ebooks).

2. Uploading and dowoading personal docs through Dropbox is fine, but feels a little clunky when syncing. 3. Having the sync feature available within the personal docs instead of only the homescreen would be convenient, especially for longer documents.

4. When using the advanced notebook, editing something already converted to text from handwriting is difficult to figure out and doesn’t always happen. But that could be a me issue. That being said (and hopefully some of these, especially the stylus thickness, can be modified in future updates) the pros are the ability to go dark and light mode easily, the larger screen makes reading very comfortable, and the original interface (versus a tablet) is AMAZING for people with migraines or other vision issues that make tablet and phone screens difficult to use for longer stretches of time.

The cover and stylus stay out and protect the screen and battery life, it holds a charge for a long time. Now if I could convince my cat that while the cover feels nice, it’s not for her to sleep one, my day would be so much easier.

Sometimes it registered writing while the screen was frozen but most time it didn’t – Occasionally would go from fully charged to out of battery overnight despite being in sleep mode at bedtime (and auto sleep after 15 minutes enabled) – Kept loosing annotations and notes I wrote.

The last straw for me was when half a page of a meeting’s notes vanished before my eyes and I couldn’t find a way to bring them back. Some PDFs would loose annotations and they would eventually come back overlayed on top of the re-written annotations.

– No way to organize notes hierarchically or by tag, they are all flat in one folder. TLDR; I’ll be returning mine but future software updates may fix it.

4. 5 stars! When Emily Henry’s Beach Read is your favorite book ever, the book you consider perfect, it’s hard to read and review any of her other books without very high expectations. I think Beach Read was just lightning in a bottle for me, the perfect book at the perfect time.

So while I enjoyed Book Lovers thoroughly, laughing and crying at all the right places, it didn’t quite reach the Beach Read status for me. But I love that Emily Henry has created the anti-rom-com heroine in Nora, a love story for the character that is usually the one that gets left behind when the hero falls for the quirky, lovable bookish love interest.

HOWEVER, it’s the quirky, lovable bookish character that I most identify with, that steals my heart, so it’s those kinds of romances that I’m drawn to the most. But I can still appreciate the need for more stories like Book Lovers.

I adored the chemistry between our two main characters. The build-up was the best kind of torture. I loved that Charlie and Nora were so similar. Most romances are about opposites attracting, but their similarities had me rooting for them.

There were a few issues that kept this one from being a five-star read for me. It pains me to say this, but there were a few times I felt like I was being told something instead of shown. Nora is described as this “shark” of an agent in the publishing world, but I never really felt that about her.

I wish Henry would have given us a scene illustrating her cutthroat style. And I never understood or connected with the book that Nora and Charlie are working on together. It just sounded meh for a book that’s supposed to be a hit.

I also think it didn’t help that I’d recently read The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, another enemies-to-lovers rom-com set in the publishing world that I absolutely loved. But I did speed through Book Lovers, enjoying it more and more as I read, so it’s definitely a must-read for fans of Emily Henry!.

Absolutely adored this book. No exaggeration. I’m not sure how my life would be had I not ordered this, but I’m beyond glad I did. It came in perfect condition (thank you, Booktopia, for always keeping my babies safe😌) and the cover is just stunning😭 The book itself was just perfect.

It gave me ALL the feels, and made me cry like a baby towards the end. The characters are my life. This book has enemies-to-lovers, somewhat of a slow-burn, internal conflict aside from the romance, great character development, and loads and loads of banter.

The humor was so incredibly clever and FUNNY. It’s pretty much everything you could ever want in a rom-com, wrapped into one neat package. When will someone (who cares about his family, works in a bookstore, edits books, makes subtle comments about how he’s interested, sleeps in a race-car bed, is witty, has dark hair) piggy-back me to the cottage I’m staying at so my heels won’t get stuck in mud while it rains? 😭 Buy this book.

Meet Charlie Lastra and Nora Stephens, two of my favourite people of all time. You won’t regret it, especially if you have previously enjoyed Emily Henry’s books. And if you didn’t, pick it up anyway.

It’s worth it.

Oh my goodness. I absolutely adored this book. I laughed out loud so many times. I loved the banter with Nora & Charlie. Nora’s nightmare brain. I loved Libby a breath of fresh air. Their sisterhood.

Then there were happy tears and sad tears. The quirky small town and learning more about how a book becomes a book. I wish I could give this book a thousand stars.

Gifted this book to my sister, Diana, because she’s Stephen King’s greatest fan of all time and this is one of the only books of his she didn’t have on her shelf. I forgot to take a picture of it before wrapping it for her birthday, but she was thrilled with it when she opened it because it really is one of only 4 books she didn’t have of his.

Diana said Elevation is one of his newer highly interesting, if somewhat shorter stories. The book came in great condition and well within time for me to wrap it and have it in her birthday bag. A great book well worth the money and an excellent read!.

1 star is too many for this book! I’m very shocked that it has Stephen Kings name on it being as it’s such a let down compared to his older books. This was a very quick read, extremely predictable, and very very very boring.

I found it in the thriller section on Amazon and that’s definitely the wrong category for it to be in considering there wasn’t any suspense. Highly disappointing.

The awesomeness? Scott is living every metabolism challenged person’s dream; he’s consistently losing a steady amount of weight while eating whatever the heck he wants to. He can eat breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner/supper and round it all off with a double helping of dessert, and the scales still smile on him.

What a dream! The downside? No matter how much weight the scales say he’s lost Scott still looks exactly the same, protruding belly and all. All of that weight loss and you don’t even get to see the difference? No fair! The downright weird? ” ‘No one weighs the same naked as they do dressed.

It’s as much a given as gravity. ‘ ” This is a Stephen King novella; nothing is a given. Set in Castle Rock, ‘Elevation’ was a compulsive read for me. I loved the people I met. I loved the friendships.

I loved that the homophobia expressed by some of the townsfolk was challenged. I loved the reminder that one person can make a difference in other peoples’ lives and their community as a whole, even in the current political climate and even a town where a fairly considerable amount of bigots reside.

” ‘Sometimes I think this is the world’s greatest weight-loss program. ‘ ‘Yes,’ Ellis said, ‘but where does it end?’ ” I’ll tell you where it ends. In tears! I enjoyed ‘Gwendy’s Button Box’ but I loved ‘Elevation’.

I didn’t expect to feel so much for characters that I only knew for just over 130 pages but I smiled, I laughed and I wanted to have dinner with these people. Then I smiled some more while I ugly cried for the final 10% of the book.

I need an entire series of novellas set in Castle Rock. I need to meet more of these weird and wonderful people. I’d give this book 4. 5 stars but am rounding up.

The story itself was pretty entertaining. I was not a big fan of the pace, however. The chapters felt incredibly short for the most part, which made it really difficult for me to feel immersed. Nora felt like a very two-dimensional character, which made it kinda hard to connect with her and care about her like you’d want to with most protagonists.

Overall, I would say it’s a good casual read! The ending had a good message but it was predictable and I think I just wanted more out of it. I would have loved a flash forward to tie some loose ends but no biggie! It was a cool book concept without getting too existential and I would recommend it as a good, quick novel if you’re in a reading slump and need something to get you interested in doing it more!.

4. 5 rounded up. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig was my book club book for this month. I was so looking forward to reading it as Matt Haig is so so good at putting words to the human condition. His ability to reflect on his own experiences of mental health issues allows him to represent the doggedness of the darkest depression, and suicidal ideation.

This book does just that. It lays out Nora’s life and suicide attempt and then delves into the realm of parallel lives as Nora tries to find herself and the elusive happiness she has been missing. This was a quick book to read and I loved the premise of the midnight library itself, and Mrs Elm, Nora’s guide to help her explore her infinite lives.

Nora’s struggles felt real, they weren’t overinflated end of the world issues that pushed her to the edge, they were the small things that can break you down piece by piece. There were a coupls of times I felt the book slipped and became a bit mawkish and obvious in the message Nora was supposed to be learning in these lives, but overall it really hit the mark for me.

A poignant and empathetic novel that explores the beauty and pain in everyday life. ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌠 (4. 5/5).

I was intrigued by the interesting premise, and the great reviews. Wondering if other people read a different book to me. Every ‘story from the library’ fell short, the ‘deep thoughts’ felt forced and yes, as others have mentioned, very repetitive.

Repetitive but cut short, a strange combination. The main character felt very inauthentic to me – she’s so wildly talented in what felt like very ridiculous ways, and for me, so slow to learn very basic lessons which made for frustrating reading.

Again, interesting premise. For me it made it more sour when the writing failed to deliver results I was looking for, but maybe that will be different for you. 2 stars for being good at inspiring your imagination and discussing with friends what you would have done with Nora and the Midnight Library.

In this twisted and trying tale, an ambitious, college-bound girl, Tessa Young, has found herself entangled with a wild boy that she would have never have given the time of day. Her main goal was to focus on school, her too-good-to-be true boyfriend, Noah, and to start her career in English, but all of that changes after.

After she meets Hardin. He is a bad boy with a traumatic past he has completely captured Tessa’s attention. In the first book of the After series we find Tessa trying to find out how she fits into her new college life while also figuring out if she is falling for Hardin Scott.

My favorite trope is that of enemies to lovers and this book fulfills that fantasy!.

Let me first say I usually don’t write reviews about anything, but this deserves it. First off, it’s an easy read and understanding everything that is going on so you could get thru the series fairly quick, and that is the hard part because you want to finish it as soon as possible, but want it to continue.

Hardin and Tessa’s relationship is one of the hardest I have ever read, but it is raw and passionate love, and it is the worse kind of love, but that is what love is about, sometimes. I have never cried in my life as much as I have over a book, not even when Dobby dies in Harry Potter.

I even threw the books a few times, cursed at it, curled up under my husband’s arms because the emotions in their story is so raw. I hated Hardin, loved Hardin, hated Tessa, and loved her again. This book is not for people who take things series , as it does have a lot of emotional abuse in it.

At the end of everything no one should go through the process that this couple goes through, but again some people actually do. That is what makes series so great, it could actually happen. And to think it started with a One Direction.

I will honestly reread the whole series again, and I don’t do that.

I felt like I was reading something written by a primary school student, or like my brain was a typewriter. Horribly written. How it got its own movie I have no idea! I saw the movie and thought to give the books a go, but my brain hurts after a few chapters.

The book has good pacing, I really enjoyed how the story alternated between past and present. However the big ‘twist’ is easily predictable from a mile away, and it really ruined some of the characters for me! It was icky! However, in general this book is a cute romance to read (especially in the summer because of the lake vibes).

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! I read it in a 24hour period which is insane. I’ve never read a book so fast. It draws you on and makes you fall in love. I loved the back in forth them going from kids to adults. It was really well written!.

The Libra 2 is the best affordable e-reader currently on the market when considering battery life and features. It’s a great size, perfect for holding with one hand when sitting down or laying in bed.

The Overdrive library allows me to borrow books for free from my public library, I can easily find new books on the Kobo store, and I have also sideloaded my own ePUB files without problems. The book sideloading capability makes the Libra 2 a much better option than the Amazon Kindle series.

I only wish that I could sideload audiobooks as well. I appreciate the USB-C charging port over the old micro-USB standard in my Kobo Clara HD, and my unit charges quickly. Battery life is superb. In one instance, I didn’t use or plug in my e-reader for over 2 months, and when I opened the Sleep Cover it still had over 30% battery left! I have not tested the unit in water but I am pleased that waterproofing is a standard feature.

The actual display is beautifully crisp for reading books and displays images in grayscale well. Backlight distribution is perfect, no inconsistencies there. Color temperature adjustment works great too.

I also like the integrated Pocket service where I can read articles from various news sources on my e-reader. The user interface is friendly and I absolutely love the integrated dictionary feature and the ability to highlight important text.

The SleepCover is perfect for this unit too, and feels great to the touch. I highly recommend this product.

It’s a great product, except that there are several glaring design and usability problems that have somehow been carried over across multiple Kobo models. The worst is probably the rendering of unaltered epub files.

Kobo has its own version of the format that is somehow slightly different, you see, so Kobo epubs are rendered with a different engine from normal epubs. Which would be okay if the two matched up! But they do not.

Compare the text on the two pages attached. The unaltered epub has text SEVERAL TIMES larger than the kobo epub. This is pretty consistent across books, it’s been an issue at least since my first Kobo in 2015 and it’s *bizarre* that it still does this.

Calibre fixes it in conversion. But this absolutely glaring mismatch in default font settings means it’s maddening to ever try to use epubs (even free ones off the Kobo site!) if you also ever read kobo epubs.

You need to remember to convert every time. Weird! Why does the device not just convert them itself? Another longstanding design problem is the brightness control, which seems to be on a linear scale.

That means that 2% is TWICE as bright as 1% (which is already a bit too bright for my night-time reading preferences), 3% is 50% again as bright, but 91% is 1. 1% brighter than 90%. I literally cannot conceive of a situation where I would care even slightly about the difference between 90% and 91%.

The difference between 1% and 2% is the difference between slightly too bright and WAY too bright (although not quite as glaring on the Libra as it was on the H2O). About a millimetre further and I’m on 5%, shocking in the dark! Another REALLY important design flaw has persisted through at least four or five different Kobo models: the brightness control is not available on every page.

If you’re on the home page or even if you’ve accidentally selected a word in a book, the brightness controls don’t work. This is dire, because it’s vital to be able to change the brightness without looking at the screen! If the screen-light is off and you’re in pitch blackness, you’re screwed until you can find another light source.

If the screen-light is BRIGHT and you’re in the dark, it’s AWFUL. This could (and should) be fixed by ensuring that the interface for changing brightness works on every screen, not just in the main reader-view.

This would have literally no down-sides from an end-user perspective. Another design flaw is relatively recently introduced, but it’s shared with the Elipsa: the switch to toggle Dark Mode is only available in Settings, and on the second page of them on Libra.

There should be a switch attached to the brightness setting slider; there’s plenty of space for one. Dark Mode is a massively welcome and overdue addition though; it finally allows me to make my screen dim enough to read comfortably in the dark.

I REALLY like the design of this reader. It’s a tiny bit larger than the Clara, but in some respects that’s an advantage — it has good sturdiness — a big plus for me since I take it on my long backpacking trips for my evening reading; fits in the backpack easily, weighs about the same or less than a single paperback, and provides its own lighting.

Navigation is excellent — I like the navigation buttons; they augment the screen controls very nicely. The internal guidance and icons are both straightforward and useful. If I had a nit, it would be the understandable but annoying focus on the Kobo store as the library.

I acquire books from a variety of sources, add them to my Calibre Library, and then transfer the backpacking readings to the Libra 2 (and did so previously with my Clara). Hence, when I go to “My Books”, I would prefer it was just presented as my book library, period — not differentiation between Kobo native books and my Calibre imports.

I know, Kobo is a bookseller, too. But, I chose the Kobo Readers BECAUSE I did not want a Kindle, BECAUSE I didn’t want to be bound to the Amazon ecosystem or any book ecosystem. I’ll acquire books from Kobo where it makes sense (price is competitve which means within 5% or so of other vendor), but sometimes Kobo doesn’t have a book.

Happens. So, I suppose I’d just like the Libra 2 to be a little more agnostic with respect to book source differentiation — kind of like my physical library: without looking at a physical book’s interior, I cannot know it’s publisher and in any case I do know know the vendor.

Where did I buy my copies of _A Theory of Justice_? I now have no idea — from a bookstore, and that’s about all I can say. My Libra 2 library ought to mimic that at least to some extent. Enough vent on a minor point.

This is just an extraordinary reader in every other respect, and especially for taking out in the back country. Given a choice between Libra 2 and its competitors, this is the far superior reader.

I came across this book by accident whilst search online for books on extended travel experiences which I am embarking on myself. Whilst not intending to do exactly what Rold did, his insights and suggestions put more thoughts in my head.

Dwelling a while in places as you travel so that a fuller, more rich enjoyment of the days travelling was a key message and whilst the sort of ‘earn as you go’ is not for me as I am already retired its a message well received.

The sort of ‘Europe in 14 days’, because I earned the money to pay for it was never for me or Rolf, and so imbibing and aligninging with his approach was a great personal joy as the pages flipped over slowly.

It’s a book I will take with me to read and reread as I travel The Far East, South America and the Pacific Islands in the next three years.

A superb book! I cant recommend this enough. So many subjects & angles are covered, its worthwhile on many levels for anyone who would like to simplify their chaotic life & break away from the madness of life.

Bought this instore at local Walmart. At first glance, it looks to be a nice device. But after using it for a couple of days, I find the device lacking in several areas given the technological improvements over the past couple of years in the ebook hardware area.

Here are my pros and cons of the device: Pros: 1) light weight, and easy to hold, especially if you have a cover for the device. 2) text is nice, sharp and easy to read, in the light or dark. 3) adjustable fonts.

you can change the font style or increase or decrease the font size. 4) purchase ebooks directly on the device from the Kobo store over a wifi network Cons 1) touch screen is problematic. I might have to tap the Home Icon several times to get it to respond.

2) wifi disconnects quickly. when viewing a reading descriptions of ebook titles on the Kobo store I found the wifi disconnected quickly and would not load the next store page and I would have to start over from the home page.

3) Slow connection over wifi. It takes a few seconds for the wifi to connect and load up the pages from the Kobo store. Many times it would not even load the title covers. In conclusion, for basic reading, the device is good, I had no problem reading and changing pages.

As a basic entry level device, this ok. I would suggest browsing and purchasing titles on your phone, tablet or computer then downloading them to your eReader.

This is a small device that sits in your hand very comfortably. It is lightweight and packed with features. I particularly like the easy, instant response of the touch screen turning pages and the screen does not draw my eyes as other e-Readers have.

Syncing options abound although I have not used them except to initially set up the device. Books opened are displayed in thumbnails on the front giving instant recognition of where you are up to and even the percentage of reading is shown.

When powered off (I giggle at this) a copy of the current book’s front cover is displayed, as if there is a book sitting on the table! Although this is in “power down” mode, I thought it would reduce the life of the battery but does not seem to do so.

I am so glad I purchased the Kobo Aura 2nd Edition, for it suits my needs in everyway. When considering, keep in mind it is a 6 inch screen, so if this is not your bag. I thought it too small when opening the box, but no, it is so efficient I do not even think of a larger device any more.

Malfunctioning after a few months of use and the customer service was a disaster. Now I couldn’t write or erase on the tablet randomly. It’s not the problem of the stylus since even a new one fails on the tablet.

The customer service just repeatly asked me to factory reset, update firmware (newst version already) and test my tablet following their instructions. Every time after a trial, I have to take photos/videos to show the problem still exists.

I couldn’t believe after > 4 months of back-and-forth, they just won’t take the tablet back and fix it! Worst purchase experience ever. Already bought Remarkable 2 and works like a charm. Avoid Boox at all cost!.

I have been waiting for an e-reader like this for 10 years now. Its size makes it possible to read most documents and books in a 1:1 format, contrary to most e-readers on the market which are significantly smaller.

Graphics will be displayed fast, but do keep in mind that it is a greyscale only screen. It’s handwriting features might not be as polished as that of the “Remarkable” but the difference is tiny. I was surprised that it would more often than not recognize my (horrible) handwriting without too many errors.

One major feature of this device is that it is a full Android tablet with an e-ink screen. Compared to other e-readers that means that there are many, many more apps available. Onyx sadly does not yet offer a cover that fits this model perfectly.

The cover for the Max 3 fill fit somewhat, but not perfectly. I listed the “manual activation of Google Play needed” both as pro and con since it will be a bonus for those conscious of privacy, but a malus to those wanting the newest features and integration with other apps.

The Boox Max Lumi is an excellent product. I use it every day. The fact that it is not a computer tablet is exactly why I bought it. It has completely replaced my notebooks and planners because they are all on my Lumi.

It has a front light which is great when you’re in a low-lit room. It’s a steep learning curve, but there are many YouTube videos and Facebook groups where you learn about the device. If you need customer service for technical issues, I would advise to contact Boox company.

I purchased this to annotate technical papers and store my reference text books for work. Having figures in color and the ability to highlight in difference colors, annotate, and write and sketch notes is invaluable.

My eyes get tired staring at a computer for so many hours a day, and this little book is a lifesaver for both space (goodbye, giant binders and texbooks!) and computer headaches. I have to provide annotated versions of documents to renew several of my credentials, and this is a great tool for making those electronic annotated documents without being trapped at my desk for even longer hours.

The portability is wonderful, I love having the option to read in the park. The stylus connects firmly (tip down only). I already dropped this from lap height into hardwood floor- the screen did not break.

What I love: The colors are quite nice (YSK: the color palette is overall muted- no saturated or vibrant color options). The search feature, page turn speed, zoom, moving around the page, organization,and notebooks are EXCELLENT and intuitive.

Customization of tools- which ones appear in what order and where- is a very nice feature. It’s very fast and easy to add or remove papers and texts by WiFi. It is legible outside on a sunny day (at least in the northeast), and the battery life is fantastic – lasts me days.

I would change: I wish the screen were a little larger, and that there was a way to flip between a notepad and a PDF to take notes in a notepad (one can always write/highlight directly to the PDF, or flip between two PDF documents, but not a notebook and a PDF).

The pen cap doesn’t hook into the back of the stylus; I’ve already lost it. When the unit gets hot, greyish specs appear in the background of the book and there is some ghosting effect, but these disappear when the unit cools down and restarts.

Overall, a great little device. I highly recommend it for technical experts who spend a lot of time reading and annotating documents.

There are plenty of long reviews of this device so I will keep to a few specifics. Firstly it is worth saying this is not a normal colour tablet, it is not a normal eInk ereader. It is slower than a tablet and it does not have a screen that comes anywhere near to the colour display of a tablet or the contrast of a normal ereader but it does have a screen that allows reading material when in sunlight with colour making it almost unique.

I bought this looking for a device to read books, emails, and the newspaper outside because I hate trying to do that on conventional devices with the light turned up to max. This ereader/Tablet is much faster than an older Boox device that I had.

It allows me to see the screen in the sun, it has a good battery life compared with a tablet but less good when compared with a Kindle. I am very happy with it. BUT it is not the best device to use as a simple ereader for books.

There are a few reasons quoted but the most important is is because the screen is very dark unless there is a lot of ambient light so the front light has to be used when inside (but I use a normal tablet inside !).

So in summary the device allows me to do something I could not do before which is read in the sun ! The colour means that instead of shades of grey in a normal einkdisplay there are colour contrasts making it much easier to read magazines, newspapers, web based material it does nothing to help reading a book !!!!.

I’m very happy with this product. It is compact and light, works well, and the battery lasts very well. Getting the play store to work to a little time waiting for the confirmation to come through, but once done there are so many great apps that can be installed.

I use this to read books I have with boox but also with three other ebook stores I used over the years. The screen is clear and colourful, I find I need to leave the front light active at a low level, but even with this the battery performance is great.

The included poem works well for note taking or sketching, and the results can by sent to various cloud storage providers as pdf. Very happy overall, would buy again.

I had high hopes for this Kindle for reading books and other documents. After having HD screens on my smartphones and tablets, I couldn’t get used to black and white book covers and other graphics. I really wanted to like this device, because the size and aspect ratio was just right.

Unfortunately, I had an extensive collection of Google Play Books that are DRM protected, and there was just no way to read those books on the Kindle. Although I could convert the books to EPUB so they could work on the Kindle, the conversion did not address the DRM protection.

When I first started reading ebooks on Android tablets, the tablets were 7 to 8 inches in size with a 4:3 aspect ratio, just right for ebooks. Now they are so big for watching movies, that they are unwieldly for books.

So I really wanted to like the Kindle Oasis because it was the size of the first Android tablet that I owned. I just couldn’t see buying all the ebooks over again that I already owned just so they could be on the Kindle.

Another thing that was weird is that if you have a number of Word and PDF documents, you have to send the documents one at a time to the Kindle’s special email address. You cannot plug the Kindle to your computer and batch download your files to it.

They won’t show up to be read that way. So I ended up returning the Kindle.

I purchased this device out of curiosity. I purchased my first Kindle in 2008 and over the years have upgraded. My next one was the Kindle Keyboard and after that was the Kindle Paperwhite. I actually had 2 different versions of the Paperwhite.

The most recent Paperwhite I purchased last November for Black Friday. I like the idea of a bigger screen, so I decided to purchase this. I picked this up over Black Friday at a reduce price. Set up was easy.

Started reading on it. About 20 – 30 minutes later, my fingers started to get cold. I like holding the device and not using a cover, so that aluminum got cold quick. I ended up purchasing a light case that doesn’t seem to add much weight to it.

Have extra reading real estate is great. I think I read somewhere that having a 7″ screen, adds 33 more words to the screen. But I guess that would depend on the font size. I liked to be able to turn the page with the buttons, that is one of the reason why I loved the first Kindle and the Kindle Keyboard.

The Kindle Keyboard would be perfect, if it had a back light. I don’t know if its the ergonomics of the devise, but my fingers felt like they were cramped, after about an hour of reading. It’s a different feel or hold when you hold the Paperwhite and hold the Oasis.

I feel like I have to grip the Oasis when I hold it and the Paperwhite, my hands rest on the device. The battery life is good. When I set it up, It was about 78% charged. I charged it up to 100% and have been reading on the same charge since.

I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep it. I really like having the extra real estate to read more words and the page turning buttons. Except for the coldness of the aluminum, I don’t have anything bad to say about this device.

I do wish Amazon would think about making a 7. 8″ device for reading, otherwise I guess this one will have to do. Purchasing this at a reduce price, is the best way to do it.

I have had a Kindle for years i upgraded whenever i could. I got my whole family hooked and even went to kindles for online use. My Mama loved hers until the day she died. I love to read and with kindle unlimited I have gotten to read and love a variety of books I never would have known.

The newest has come a long way from my first one. It is light great to read from and text can be enlarged which helps my eyes as i have grown up as well and need a little extra help. It turns great and in its cover really feels like a book.

I can’t imagine life without it. The benefit is I already have so many books because it is so hard for me to let them go and I have ran out of room. My kindle holds so many books i have gotten and with unlimited it is a fabulous adventure into many types of literature.

You want be disappointed with this purchase, worth every penny.

It is a wonderful product for the one, who just want the most basic yet upgraded e-reader. – It identifies the majority of languages, which was important for me (Russian for example), as well as all the well-known formats.

– The best part is that you can use it both during the day with ink display and during dark periods, as it also has a front light. – You can use dropbox to transfer books, so no more cables needed – such a relief! – Not sure about the battery, as I bought it quite recently but I never had to charge it so far – awesome! – And it already has quite a collection of many well-known books in various languages installed.

– It sits also very nicely in the hand and nice to touch. To sum up, I am more than happy with what I have gotten and would recommend it to anyone looking for just a very good e-book to have.

A very nice eBook reader, front light is awesome. Battery has long life and with Pocketbook Cloud/Dropbox sync is is easy to use!

Is there anyone more creative and creepy? Stephen King is both fascinating and scary at the same time. Yet his talent is truly incredible, as I’ve read most of his books. The Institute is among his newer ones, and he has not lost his touch one bit.

This one is a horror story, that even with telepathy and telekinesis, could be plausible. There’s a lot our government and others do, that if we knew, we probably would lose our collective minds. This isn’t so much a horror story that makes you jump, but it is rather scary, when you are one of the characters in here.

King is able to get you to do this, and this book involves kids at a top secret facility. As a New Englander also, King delivers narcissistic and brain washes characters, whom really could exist with a sadistic streak.

The descriptions in here clearly paint a picture. This is a greatly underrated book, as it has exceptional character development, along with a genuine emotional connection. That’s a rare combination, but he does it with this one, that does make you consider the impossible.

Maybe it’s not.

I just finished this book, and I really enjoyed it. Some of it was almost painful to read, especially the parts that graphically detail torturing children. This reminds me of “Firestarter” with the whole supernatural powers and bad guys trying to use them vibe.

I did have a few issues with the book. The entire time I was reading I couldn’t help but think that I would have fought back much harder, had I been kidnapped and taken to the Institute. I realize they are children and are being psychologically as well as physically traumatized, but I would have raaaaaaged against all of these people.

my other issue was that after opening with Tim and detailing his relocation to DuPray, he is then entirely forgotten about and ignored until the end of the book. His role was extremely predictable, as well, although I did enjoy his character.

Would almost have liked to read an entire novel on just him. Altogether, this was an enjoyable read, and I would recommend it to any King fans or readers looking for a dark, intense, good vs bad supernatural story.

King is a great storyteller, no doubt, and the book held my attention for the most part. Luke Ellis is one of possibly hundreds, maybe even thousands of children who has been kidnapped because of his telekinetic ability.

He is taken to The Institute, where experiments that can only be called torturous are carried out, supposedly for the greater good in preventing worldwide catastrophes. The experiments carried out in the Institute are reminiscent of the experiments done on human guinea pigs in German Concentration camps and even in the United States on the mentally disabled.

The descriptions of what the children experience in the Institute is disturbing. King once again reminds us of the inhumanity humans often perpetrate on other humans, especially those who are the most powerless to defend themselves.

The main problem with the novel is that, having read most of King’s other works, I can’t help but compare this work to his others, and The Institute just doesn’t live up to The Stand, The Shining, 11/22/63, just to name a few.

This product is very glitchy and aggravating. I keep running into an issue where my wifi is disconnecting, and when I enter the password (which I am positive is the correct password) it will not allow me to reconnect.

I called the company for help and they were pretty useless, telling me, “Yeeeeaaaahhh this has been a common problem we are trying to fix, we’ll report it. ” But could do nothing to actually help me or fix anything.

I mean, I paid over $100 for this product, I expect it to work. I actually purchased a second one, thinking maybe that would solve the problem, no such luck. I have also lived at two different addresses in two different towns so it has nothing to do with my location.

The wifi issue has been the most aggravating but this thing also freezes on a pretty regular basis and just generally has a mind of it’s own. Hiliting random passages and clipping random pages, when I unclip them they just clip themselves back.

Like, no. I was skeptical of purchasing an ereader and this thing proved me right. Do yourself a favor and do NOT purchase this product. I’m sure there are alternatives out there that actually work when you expect them to and aren’t just an enormous pain.

My rating is really more like 3 1/2 stars. It’s relatively easy to read the books, but the sorting is wacky, and the Kobo app is completely useless. The app: I don’t use the store or the library-borrowing option on the device; I get all my books off my computer, and the app can’t handle that.

It never showed me having anything at all in my library. I ended up deleting the app and using Calibre instead. The sorting: I can’t for the life of me figure out how this thing sorts; it’s inconsistent at best.

It puts all my books my books under something different (some in Firstname, Lastname; some in Lastname, Firstname; some in just First or just Last, and a few by just the book’s title. In one case, it put the book under a completely different, unrelated name), and this is after editing the metadata on every file to make them match, an extremely time-consuming activity.

The sorting is useless enough that I have to find the books by Searching, rather than scrolling through each author individually; that’s made rather difficult when the author’s books are scattered over four or five different folders.

It’s annoying. All that said, I do actually use the thing. I bought it to read in bed at night, and I do. So that’s a positive.

It’s a modestly better quality version of a base kindle e-ink reader without the Amazon lock-in. If you’re just looking to read books and want the convenience of e-books but don’t need the full features of a tablet then buy an e-ink reader.

They have better battery life, are cheaper, lighter, better on your eyes and just a much better reading experience overall. I’m terms of choices atm the two big brands are Kindle and Kobo. Buy a Kindle if you’re invested; or want to be invested in the Amazon ecosystem.

Buy a kobo if you’re not and instead want to borrow books (for free!) from the library instead or buy independently / via the kobo store. This mid range hardware is pretty bullet proof. It’s durable without being fully waterproof.

Well built and has a decent but optional backlight. The text is ledgable and adjustable enough for most users. The touch screen on it is basic but is perfectly fine for turning pages or navigating your library or store.

The only thing I really miss from using a Kindle are the hardware buttons for turning pages but that might just be user preference anyway. Happy reading.

This book is way too overhyped. Overall it’s good if you’re twelve or an immature 13/14 year old. America is a terrible character and the love triangle lasts way too long and is so unnecessary. It’s three books long and it feels as if the same thing happens in every book.

America is so unrealistic in that she is the only one who questions the sloppily put together dystopian system. There is talk of “rebels” in the later books, but that problem is resolved way too quickly and it feels like the whole idea was introduced just to make it seem like the whole isn’t centered around America and her stupid decisions (it is).

America is so stupid and stubborn to the point where she is just downright annoying. Don’t read this book unless you want to cringe every time America opens her mouth. I think most people read this book for Maxon (one of America’s love interests) and that’s understandable as he is a pretty well written character (one of the only ones in the entire series), but throughout the whole series he is mistreated by America and you just have no choice but to feel bad for him and wonder why he continues to fight for America’s affection.

This book is NOT worth reading three mediocre books just to reach the one famous quote by Maxon in the third book “Break my heart, break it a thousand times” or however it goes. I can hardly remember it.

It basically sums up the entire series, as it is entirely about watching America break Maxon’s heart over and over. She is hands down one of the worst characters I have ever read about. It’s like Keira Cass tried to stuff every basic character trait of dystopian girls into this one girl who radiates “I’m not like other girls” energy.

I could write a whole other review about how much America singer sucks, but I’m not going to. I’ll keep it short and simple: don’t waste your money on this book unless you are not a very advanced reader and you’re easily entertained.

This book is sloppy and meaningless.

The Selection was such a surprise to me, and a great book to read! I’m not quite sure what I expected, but as soon as I flipped through the first page, I couldn’t stop. (I sucked these books in, in a matter of hours.

Whoops. ) To set the scene, the country has become a “seemingly organized” (yet unorganized) place where the people revolve around a caste system. The system ranks people and families from one to eight–one being very rich (the royal family) and eight being very poor (usually having jobs as house cleaners, etc.

). The Selection is an event where the Prince gets to choose his future bride. Women all over the country submit their applications and 35 are chosen (Yes, it is basically The Bachelor, rewritten). America Singer, our heroine of the story, is a five in the caste system.

She’s smart, witty, feisty and most importantly, wants nothing to do with The Selection. She’s found true love, she has a talent and provides support to her family, and she sees no reason for anything to change.

Her mother begs her to enter her name, as entering and winning would not only mean a status change for America, but for her family as well. Any girls in The Selection also receive checks sent to their families to help out while they are away.

America, however, would rather be with her true love, Aspen (who is a six in the caste system). Forbidden to be together, they have kept their relationship a secret from family and friends. However, Aspen wants more for her and wills her to give The Selection a try, to submit her application as a “what if”.

SURPRISE. America gets chosen to be one of the thirty-five girls selection for The Selection. (Didn’t see that coming did you?) She has to adjust to new lifestyles, new friends (and enemies), and to what her heart is trying to tell her to do.

Of course, being her feisty self, her and the Prince, Maxon, don’t always hit it off in the best of ways, but where would be the fun if they did? AMERICA : I loved America. I felt like she was a very strong-willed heroine.

She’s also kind and unselfish, wanting to stay in The Selection as long as possible to help provide for her family and get some distance from Aspen, who’s back in her home town. Her feelings and emotions felt real and connected and she seemed so strong, yet she was struggling with things I felt like I’d be struggling with too if I was in her shoes.

MAXON : Prince Maxon is a heartthrob, of course. He seems genuinely nice, well-rounded and just as confused from the whole event as the rest of the girls are. With hidden secrets of his own, he’s a character I’m sure we will see growing as the series carries on.

I found myself routing for America to just fall in love with him already, since his feelings towards her are quite clear from the beginning. Why couldn’t this book just be three rolled into one! It left me needing to know more as the competition narrowed down to six girls.

I thought this was a great read and I’d recommend it to anyone trying to find something new.

This is a (nearly) perfect tale of what just about every girl would wish for, with the added drama of a love triangle. America Singer is getting the chance of a lifetime to compete with thirty-five other girls in hopes of becoming Prince Maxon’s wife.

The only problem? She’s in love another man, and her love is considered beneath her because she’s a five, and he’s six. In this new world, society gives you a number based on what your ancestors did or how they helped during the Third World War.

One being the highest i. e. royalty and eight being the lowest of the low. When the letter for the Selection comes in the mail, America’s entire family encourages her to sign up, with her mother trying to guilt trip her every step of the way.

Of course, America and Aspen are in a secret relationship and she would never dream of leaving her true love to participate in a stupid selection for a chance to marry a man she despises (even though she’s never actually meet him).

However, after some pushing from everyone in her life, Aspen included, America decides to suck up and at least enter, thinking she’s below average, there’s no way she’d be picked. Naturally, she’s chosen, because this book, and the rest of series wouldn’t exist if she didn’t.

From there, it’s the story of America coming to terms of where she’s at, meeting some new friends, and yes kids, the love triangle continues because just as America is feeling like she could love Maxon, someone pops up.

This is a great Amazon alternative. It’s relatively inexpensive, yet runs a modern verison of Android allowing you to side-load virtually any app from the Google Play Store. In addition to reading e-books with the built-in e-reader software (which is legitimately great, by the way), I can also read articles from Flipboard, Instapaper, browse news websites via Chrome, Edge, Brave, or any other mobile Android browser.

I was even able to install Microsoft Word and use a Bluetooth keyboard to relieve my eye strain during marathon writing sessions. The speed is not the fastest in the world, nor is the screen the sharpest.

And at only 16GB (with the system and Android OS files taking up roughly half of that), space is at a premium. However, all of its shortcomings are balanced by its affordability. There are definitely bigger, better e-ink tablets out there, but for the price, this is an excellent starting point.

I’ve bought this to replace a Kindle Paperwhite 2. For beginners, a Kindle or a Kobo is great. It allows you to read and that’s it. But I nitpick a lot about the capabilities of an e-reader. I love to tinker, to customise everything.

The Poke 3 is Android, so highly customisable. You can install your favourite e-reader app, have bluetooth capabilities for audio or input (keyboard, external hard disk), email, calendar, and a lot of possibilities that the current most known e-readers simply close off.

This comes at a cost: the battery lasts certainly a bit less than on those other devices, and you may accidentally install things that are detrimental. You can also install the Kindle or Kobo apps to access the books that you had on your other devices.

So it’s all the advantages, without their limitations. Plus, it is extremely fast. Yesterday I picked up my Kindle to check for new firmware and it’s incredibly slow in comparison to the Poke 3. The only thing I think would be an improvement on this device would be to make it water resistant.

Other than that, it’s an excellent product and my favourite e-reader so far.

Good e-reader for what it is, a reader. Not made for browsing the internet etc, for all that you have other options. Well made, thin and light. Nice to have the option for white or yellow backlight. Really nice to have the option to install any reader app you want to use.

I purchased this pack for my spring fishing opener Minnesota BWCA trip. I loved the fact that it had external gear loops which are very well engineered. I utilized them with an additional storage bag.

This bag at 50l is perfect for an experienced lite weight campers set up. The pack is comfortable and very adjustable and most importantly durable! I have just returned from my 5 day trip and I’m very impressed that this pack can handle the abuse of constantly being thrown in and out of the canoe, sat on rocks and caught up on trees.

It still looks brand new and I beat this pack up intentionally. Overall I am so happy I chose this pack! Good job Exped!.

Amazing pack! I have been camping in Hawaii where there has been nothing but down pour and flash floods warnings! I haven’t worried once about my gear in this pack! 100% dry and I am a happy camper!
