20 Best Torx Socket Set (2022 Updated)

Gearwench has done it again! At first I was a little skeptical about buying the set cause I was doing a lot of research and I found lots of different brands and most of them seem like they may be a better option just because of quality reasons.

However I found that the prices were quite a bit different. For instance snap-on had a set that was roughly 200 to 300 dollars. Mac and matco had a set that was a little cheaper but ultimately they were chrome sockets that looked like they weren’t going to hold up.

I can’t verify the quality since I never used their brands for this type of tool but I wasn’t paying that much money for sockets I would not need everyday. So after compiling my ideas and research of what I should do I decided that I would give the set a try since it was only $35.

I’ve probably used it a handful times since I bought it and honestly I’ve taken crank pulley bolts off with them I removed fasteners that were pretty tight with an impact and they do show signs of wear but they still work fine.

I would definitely recommend somebody buying this set I myself have bought two since a fellow co-worker of mine liked the set and wanted one. But ultimately I couldn’t be happier with my purchase because even though I can’t really warranty them on the truck I still feel as though they will hold up long enough that I’ll never ever need to really worry about it.

Many of my tools are Hazet or Stahwille because I believe in buying high quality tools. Having already purchased a bunch of new tools, I was looking to save a little money. I’ve used Gearwrench tools in the past and they’ve always been good quality so I tried this Torx set.

They don’t have the jewel-like finish of a Hazet set, but they also cost 1/4 as much. Given the cost savings, they are a great value. I haven’t put any major torque on them, but Gearwrench has already been reliable in the past so I trust these will do whatever I ask of them.

I like that this set includes so many sizes and that it includes the multi drive size socket rail so I can keep track of all of these with out buying 3 separate socket rails. Mostly I intend to use one size when doing work on my disk brakes but I have the rest in case I need to work on the lower control arms for the front suspension or other fasteners.

I intend to update this review after use. It might be the case that the E-Torx style socket with the more beveled end has a tighter fit to the fasteners that Dodge used at the Belvidere, Illinois factory to assemble my car I figured this style might allow more contact surface with the bottom edge of this type of bolt head which would give a better grip and result in less wear on the fastener.

Craftsman hand tools are always good to great quality. This is a great set to have. The only reason I rate all craftsman hand tool sets low is because of their carrying cases. The cheap plastic cases on all my craftsman tool sets do not hold the tool good at all.

I have picked up my tools off the floor one time to many. Better plan on a different method of carrying these tool around because the cases are not reliable. Craftsman tool are reliable.

This set isn’t the USA quality but its still great for the price vompared to buying these individual sets separately, great for general purpose maintenance, DIYERS & more. Unless you’re willing to buy MAC, Snap On or other tool truck brands, this set will do fine and Craftsman still beats Harbor Freight, Sears is cheaper then the other stores and they’ll still do everything to warranty any Craftsman item unlike other stores.

These are excellent kits. They have a combination of 1/4 and 3/8 drive bits. The ratchet included is probably the cheapest one craftsman makes, but it is still a craftsman. All lifetime guaranteed. A nice thing about having a kit like this is that you can just grab the box and take it to the thing you’re working on and you _know_ you’ll have what you need in there.

No return trips to the tool chest, etc. The internal and external Torx bits are key. I bought this kit when I got a BMW, since they (and other newer European cars) love to use Torx fasteners in many places – both internal and external.

Bought these to take off the external torx plus bolts on a 2021 Corvette and they worked fine. The Corvette uses low profile external torx plus bolts and the bevel on the side of these sockets were able to get a decent grip and take them off without any issues.

Use them on honda connecting rod bolts for the piston ring recall (R-series motors). Most of the guys in the shop were using standard external torx. stripped heads like no other, which were not the correct tool for the job, these grip perfect.

Like lisle products, always strong, always affordable, and just work.

These sockets seem sturdy, and should be able to survive daily use in the shop. I would buy these again, if they came up missing.

I bought this set because my 3/8″ drive E10 sockets wouldn’t fit into certain bolt holes on a Mercedes. These sockets worked well and I always like that Gearwrench sockets have the same lifetime warranty as the expensive tool truck brands.

Good product, I don’t use them everyday but they look like they are going to last.

Nice high quality finish, sturdy, tips don’t twist when wrenching on them. I like these better than some of the bluepoint sockets I have. Put the T30 to work right off the bat on a stuck bolt and was impressed at fitment and the tip didn’t twist which seems to happen more often than not with some other torx bits.

Would absolutely trust these sockets to get the job done.

Use these daily for working on CNC machines. These machines always have some torx screws and I never have to hunt for the right size since they are in a handy holder. The sides of the tools do not wear out quickly like a lot of “the competitiors” tend to do since they are made out of cheap metal.

I like this set! It has a smooth finish on the base. The Torx bit has a solid bite and doesn’t slip. I like the the fact the socket has a smooth polished finish. This allows me to rotate the socket wrench with my palm, with my index finger and thumb on the socket.

Its a great set for the money so far.

Very well made. Made in the USA! Removed and re torqued cam bearing caps and more without breaking.

These Torx bits are well made and come in a nice holder to keep them organized. Works perfect for any Jeep project or other application were Torx Bits are needed.

Awesome sauce, this is an American made torx bit set that is a great value.

Good set of bits; but did not work for my application. Needed a long T45 bit to remove the Specialized brand carbon crank from my bike. I went with the full set and agree with other reviewers that these are not Snap-On, MAC level quality; but definitely a step up from low end brands.

Unfortunately the devil is in the details. The T45 and smaller bits have a beefy hex shank that is tapered at the tip for the Torx geometry. In most situations this would be viewed as a plus. For the Specialized crank application, this little bit of extra material prevents access to the crankbolt inside the bottom bracket.

Argh! I may try to grind it down to make it fit. The length to grind is over an inch. Although it’s possible to do with a bench grinder; the results will not be the greatest aesthetically. Just a heads up to those looking to buy for the same purpose.

Otherwise a good set of bits.

In case there is any question, these are branded Gearwrench. Sometimes they are labeled KD Tools. Both companies are a part of the Apex Tool Group, and sometimes I think maybe in the transition of companies, the same products might have been dually labeled or just mislabeled.

I don’t know. Anyway don’t expect most of these tools to be made in America, if that’s what you are thinking. The tools are still maed cheaply, but much better than really cheap tools. So as far as this set of torx sockets fo, I really like them.

The socket ends look and feel very nice. The polish looks like a more expensive tool. The torx ends are obviously of lower quality. They aren’t the same hardened steel that you see in SnapOn and MAC torx sockets, but for the price I wouldn’t expect that.

I feel that the ends will twist with over use/torque. They are lifetime warranty though. And the cool thing is you can warranty them through any Gearwrench dealer. Sears, SnapOn, MAC, Matco all sell Gearwrench so that’s a huge plus.

I would recommend these to anyone. I use them on a semi-regular basis at work for BMWs mostly. I haven’t had one break yet, or twist even, but I imagine eventually it will happen. The only thing I wish is that this set had a molded plastic case instead of the clip rail.

The rail holds them very snug but I guess I got spoiled to MAC’s plastic cases for the torx and specialty sockets. No biggie though. Still nice tool for the price.

Held up to 125 ft lbs in securing the rear track bar on a ’94 YJ. Also, there’s some misinformation going around when you research these online. EVERY single bit is made of S2 steel alloy. Some people are wrongly claiming that sizes above T27 are not.

I know because I called GearWrench and they were very courteous & helpful in confirming this. This is a high quality set at a very reasonable price. It is also rare to find the full range from T7 through T60 (except T47) in a single set.

If all you need is a good tamper proof torx set, this is hard if not impossible to beat. And compare it to some of the Tool Truck offerings. Some of them look identical.

I used the 10mm bit to loosen a differential bolt. The bit fits tightly, without wiggle room. I like that fitness because I am sure the bit won’t strip the bolt. I used the torque wrench to tighten the bolt to 50 Lbs.

When you own a German car, you expect to spend money on stupid tools. This is one of them. I’ve made it 35yrs without the need for a socket like this as a DIY guy for automotive, home stuff, etc. but the second I roll a German car in the garage and want to do a brake job, I find myself headed to harbor freight.

As a DIY garage guy, I don’t want or need to spend stupid money on professional tools for this job, so these were budget friendly, and stout enough to handle the job. The quality in size was great (ie, it didn’t wobble all over the bolt when applying torque) without the need to shave down the end for a tighter fit, plus they come in a pretty cool little organizer tray and fits in any of my toolbox drawers! If you need E-Torx, this is a great set.

I bought a set of these and the 3/8drive set and haven’t come across the need for any sizes beyond.

I have no problem with the sockets, the quality is pretty good, the price was great, and they do exactly what I need them to do. The plastic organizer tray they come in LOOKS nice, but it is made a bit too cheaply, and constantly just pops open and drops the sockets everywhere.

A little nicer tray to store them in would have been fabulous. Put them on a socket rail, or in your own organizer, and you’re all set.

These sockets have an extra long reach which helps when working on GM starters. The fit & finish is great, as I would expect from the premium set. (5 stars) I don’t like the half pound of extravagant packaging.

I doesn’t fit in my toolbox, so it just gets thrown away. How about a useful package that keeps them together and doesn’t take up 10 times the space to actually store the sockets (-3 stars). I would have liked to compare these to the other, lower priced set, but there seems to be a stocking issue and they aren’t available for the next few months.

The adapter has a little retaining clip that presses a tiny ball bearing into a recess of the bit to hold it into place. Think of a reversed socked/socket wrench retention setup. Anyway. God forbid you drop this overpriced piece of poo because that little ball will go flying and never be found again.

First off the representative at autozone was straight up. Instead of spending money on the parts I didn’t need. He found a more compact version and highly recommended from personal experience. After seeing the item I was sold and was able to get more items on my savings.

Awesome! I used it for the motor mounts on my 2019 Mini Cooper jcw, removing the seat belts ! It did the job I needed it to do and at half the price of other sets

For less than what you would pay at Harbor Tools, this Craftsman set is a good deal. Far better quality in my opinion.

Did not realize my car had etorx bolts on the starter. So was in a pinch to get the proper sockets. Good mix of sizes.

This is Torx PLUS…a different head design than Torx. NOT compatible. Be certain this is the design the fastener uses

The socket set seems like a good quality and it should last, something anyone wanting to keep their tool set up to date for newer vehicle repairs must have !

So ,any modern cars use the Torx system, and being an “older” motorist, I hadn’t much experience with them. I had a male set of Torx keys, (a bit like the Allen keys you can buy), but no sockets. Finally I had to buy a socket to undo some Torx-headed bolts in the engine compartment of a Mercedes-Benz SLK to replace them with stainless steel ones.

This little socket set was absolutely ideal, being not expensive for something that will only be used rarely. No point in spending lots of money on stuff that’ll last 50 years when you’re 74 ! Having said that, my Son-in-Law may want to use them.

Good quality for a very reasonable price. I only needed the E18 size socket as I had all the others, which is typical. So, I didn’t want to spend too much for the sake of one socket, but buying a single socket was almost as expensive as buying the set! The sockets arrived in super speedy time even using the standard free delivery, and are well made and robust enough for all but the person who will be using them 20 times a day.

A good buy, and good product, a good price.

e-sockets for the fixings on more recently manufactured vehicles!( kinda a fancy torx socket) these were good value as only cost a little more than the single one i needed for the job i was doing, so made sense to buy the set!, they seem reasonably well made and strong but only time will tell if they last and are up to the job initial impressions are good!.

I liked the structure of parts. Easy to use and grabs great! I just got to say that 8pc kit is pretty pricey. But I had to get them to be able to remove the seats off the GMC Sierra Truck!

The set contained the size that I needed to remove seats from a 06 Chevy Silverado.

I bought This Duralast Torx driver set to replace my old set of Lisle drivers. Most of my old set had rounded off because the bits are weak. After removing a very stubborn rusted Torx bolt I could tell the steel in the Duralast set is of much higher quality and stronger.

I have always been impressed with the quality of Duralast tools. And with their Lifetime Guarantee they are my first choice when replacing my old Craftsman tools. Marcus in Arizona.

I Needed the # 25 and just ordered the set. It worked out perfect for me and I like the quality as well. I couldn’t believe how fast the shipping was, it came about 8 days earlier than advertised. I am very satisfied all around.

Used the t50 one time and it broke clean. The material used for these is brittle. For them to be listed as impact grade is misleading. I used a hand ratchet and broke one of the largest ones. Get what you pay for I guess.

This was a very good buy! If you need a set I highly recommend buying these! Can’t go wrong for the price! I’m going to check out their other stuff.

Never could have taken off the rear brake caliper bolts on my Mini Countryman without the correct size Torx Socket. These bolts have “locktite” on them. if I didn’t have the precise socket needed, I would have stripped the heads.

Worked great!.

My son and myself where trying to remove the starter on his BMW 325i. We were unable to use the sockets that we already had, due to the limited work space and would not hold onto the reverse 8-trox bolt securely.

After purchasing this set, we were able to break the bolts with not problem.

This product worked without issue on my wheel bearing. I used another generic sett. They didn’t work
