20 Best Tote For Travel (2022 Updated)

This purse was not designed well. Especially the back open pocket. It is so narrow that it can’t fit anything, like a phone! I have a MINI iPhone and the back slip pocket is too small for that. In comparison, the even smaller normal jet set bag (which I own in 2 different colors), had an open back pocket that is twice the size and CAN fit a phone.

There’s not no point to that back slip pocket. It’s also restricted by the straps that are glued to it so you really have to fan-dangle anything in or out of the slip pocket. If someone had to fiddle with a slip pocket, it wasn’t designed well.

Also, this is the 2nd time that a Michael Kors purse was shipped to me in a poly mailer. I just don’t understand why a luxury purse company wouldn’t ship its purses in boxes for better protection! This purse arrived dented, like the one before.

I would like to switch to a new company because this is just irritating. Also, the zipper should cover the entire contents of the purse if it is to be a true “travel bag”, but his purse has openings around the zipper for the contents to spill out, nullifying the zipper! Overall it’s just not designed for practical, easy use.

This is their Med Size Tote, I believe. The popular mini and extra small MK Totes are WAY too tiny to be of any use, imho. Yet, I wanted a size smaller than their larger totes, for everyday carry. I got the vanilla/acorn color for Daytime, Spring and Summer.

Beautiful purse, high-quality straps and hardware. Been using it everyday since I bought it a few weeks ago and it really holds up! Love the light colors and the clean, sophisticated sillhouette of this bag.

This bag is very nice, perfect size for a weekend away. Sturdy & well made. I just wish I brought the bag directly from MK. Dillards did not ship this bag well at all. Literally just tossed it in the dust bag & threw it in an oversized box with a couple pieces of bubble wrap (bag wasn’t actually wrapped in bubble wrap, a few pieces were just laying at the bottom of the box).

The bag & box were crushed because there wasn’t enough filler inside to give it any support during shipping. None of the hardware on the bag was wrapped/protected. Paid extra for gift wrapping–bag didn’t arrive gift wrapped.

I’ll NEVER order luxury products from Dillards again, sadly they don’t take pride in the pieces leaving their warehouse.

The bag is cute and functional. I do like the separation in the interior for organizing and the minimal design. However, I wanted a medium tote, and this is a very large tote. The dimensions in the description cannot be for this bag.

I recommend this bag if you want a large tote.

This is an everyday tote. It’s simply beautiful. I am obsessed. The pockets are perfectly designed. I can’t find a single flaw. Love this bag. Was a gift from my husband and he did GREAT!

With all the options on the Vera Bradley website, it can be a bit daunting to find just the item one is looking for. But after some time looking at different items. I decided to buy this one, and it is exactly what I wanted.

For me this bag is perfect — I love the zip top option (great for air travel, with the bag possibly tipping over), the variety of pockets (internal and external, zipped and unzipped), the length of the straps, the size (big enough to hold a journal, books, etc.

, yet still quite small). My only fear is that the straps will wear through quickly. This is why I always need a new Vera Bradley bag — it’s when the cloth straps simply wear out and develop holes. These straps seem ever-so-slightly less robust than in previous versions.

Hoping they are strong enough to last a goodly amount of time. Overall, however, this bag is a winner!.

I realized on my trip to Hawaii that my Baggallini tote from 10 years before was not big enough to carry all my pouches and iPad/laptop. It came just in time for an unexpected over the weekend trip to San Francisco.

Instead of putting my iPad in the front pocket of my carry on after security, I was able to put it back in the padded laptop compartment. I prefer carrying the tote on my shoulder as I navigate the aisle on the plane, but do use the trolley sleeve to place the tote on top of my suitcase as I walk through the airport.

I like that I can readily find the house keys attached on the leash rather than having to dig through the large confines of the tote bag. On the exterior slip pockets, I was able to put my Tervis hot/cold stainless steel commuter beverage container, my eyeglasses case, wipes, and the snack that I didn’t eat on the plane.

Zip closure for main compartment ensures that everything stays within and does not fall out. Interior pockets give rise to more organization. I used them to put my travel pill case, a small notebook and pen, and a jewelry case.

At the bottom of the tote bag, I packed a cube with a long-sleeve shirt and a casual shirt, and my pajamas. On top, I was able to put several pouches: a large planner pouch, the Vera Bradley Floating Garden cord organizer, the Vera Bradley Floating Garden cross body convertible to waist pack, and the Vera Bradley Floating Garden pencil case which can be used for unworn and worn face masks.

Bags do tend to get dirt on them with use and it is great that I can throw the tote into the cold wash with the face masks. I also like that there is a floral pattern in white such that the tote is not solid black.

I absolutely love this most recent purchase. My sister was admiring the bag as were my nieces which prompted them to go online to look for items for themselves.

I bought this for a long weekend trip to use as my carryon. It worked great. Love all the pockets. I didn’t use the backpack straps as I didn’t find those very comfortable, but the cross-shoulder strap works well.

I would have liked the zip pouch to be slightly bigger so my passport would fit easily. I was able to get it in there but it was a tight fit and not easy to get in and out quickly.

My husband and I own our own business and travel too much. Our carbon footprint is obviously not good. These bags are a staple for us and we use them as a small contribution to “keeping it green. ” If we purchase snacks/bottled drinks or sundries at the airport, I gather all my purchases into this bag.

Already have 2 carry-ons? Leave the bag unzipped during boarding so the agent can see your purchases. You can also have receipts handy but I’ve found that simply saying, “I’m using this bag instead of disposables for my airport purchases” is all that is needed.

I’ve never been refused. I use the bag a lot for laundry on longer trips. I pack coins and dryer sheets in the small pouch. I’ve used them to gather any cans/bottles so I can dispose of them at the airport if my hotel does not have recycle bins.

On international trips I will either put soft gifts in these bags (handy for using at VAT tax time ) or once again, store my dirty things in them. If you are traveling with another couple these bags are a terrific bon voyage gift.

Some people have mentioned the need for longer or adjustable handles. I see their point but for me these durable bags work great as they are.

First off the price point is not for everyone. If you are like me, traveling on airplanes for business trips this is a MUST bag for you. Make sure you watch the short video on the item page as you will be able to see all the wonderful and organized compartments.

I can fit in my work laptop, charger, all purse essentials and still have room. It is beautifully made and lightweight. The classy gold hardware makes it perfect to bring to your business mtg and then perfect to bring as a purse to your business dinner mtgs.

I would not use this as an everyday purse. I believe the look and purpose really is for that business traveler.

It’s just okay. Good size and quality, beautiful color. The main reason I bought it was for water bottle holder- because I’m sick of my bottle falling over and leaking in my old day to day tote. My main complaint is that it doesn’t hold it’s shape when the side pockets are in use.

The shoulder straps aren’t sewn into place all the way up to the edge, nor is the inner lining tacked to the outer wall aside from right at the top seam, so the top inch or so of the sides droop down and inward and look sloppy whenever you put anything in the inside pockets.

Small detail but should have been easily avoidable. Probably back to Kate Spade next time.

I bought this to replace my older bag of this style because the inside of my older one is coming apart at the seams (which shouldn’t happen, but it’s been my summer bag for years). Like so many things, the older version is much better.

The two big differences: 1) capacity and 2) the strap. 1) Despite having the same external dimensions, the older version is more spacious and holds more stuff — the main compartment holds more and it has two (two!) big pockets inside instead of the one that this version has.

2) The way the strap is attached to the new bag I received, it’s not possible to wear it without either the strap being twisted or the buckle facing (and pressing into) my body, and both of these options are very uncomfortable and annoying.

And I constantly have to fuss with the strap to minimize these issues. In contrast, the strap on the older version attaches to the bag with carabiner-type clips, so it can always lie flat against your body, with the buckle facing out, no matter which side of the bag you wear facing out, and you can always smooth out the strap in an instant if it ever gets a twist.

And bonus: you can remove the strap and stash it inside for easy packing or storage. I wish I had a new bag like the old one (or that its stitching had held up), and I would not buy this again with its current design.

I have had two of these (one black, one tan) for several years. I bought the tan one for travel, except I used it all the time. So I bought a black one for travel. Now I use them both all the time. The bag is just the right size for me, not too big, not too small.

Importantly, you can get a 12-oz water bottle into the big pocket, so you can smuggle it into museums where they don’t want you bringing water. I have health conditions that make it imperative to drink a lot of water.

Another HUGE PLUS. I put these into lingerie bags and machine wash them on cold with other like-colored laundry, then hang them to dry. Any bag gets a little grimy over time, especially when you travel, so the ability to wash these has been AWESOME! Sometimes I need to spot treat stains, but so far, they have come out looking like new.

Also, the adjustable shoulder strap is much appreciated. You can set it to the length that is most comfortable for you. Lots of pockets help to organize things. When I travel, I keep my passport and other important documents in one of the zippered compartments so they are quickly accessible, but safely stored (I live in terror of misplacing things!).

I keep a zippered plastic bag in the large compartment with a bunch of small stuff in it, which makes changing purses much easier. Anyway, I LOVE THESE! Oh yeah! PS. in a pinch, I can smush the purse into my backpack when some airline thinks I have too many carry-ons.

I have had this bag a few weeks and use it almost daily. It is at least my 3rd purchase to get just the right daily bag. This one is almost perfect. A few small design elements keep if from being perfect.

The size of the water bottle elasticized pocket is way too small – I would suggest an open pocket a bit bigger than the phone/umbrella pocket that it on the other side. Another feature that is not at all great is the elasticized pen holders.

The location over the zipper pocket is not convenient – pens block the pocket. Also, the pens slip in the elastic holders and wind up hanging down or completely fall out. The good stuff – the interior is light in color.

The key clip loop is convenient and the wallet clip is on the opposite side. The multiple pockets give space for lots of stuff used on a regular basis home – not traveling. I have the larger version for travel.

This one does have a luggage sleeve – though not so important in my opinion. I would rather of have a back pocket that can’t open at the bottom. I use the back pocket but worry the bottom will become unzipped and things will slip out.

I would prefer a separate bottom zipper compartment or one of the hidden, phone side pockets. The red color is great. The straps adjust well.

We are a Tumi family having owned a myriad of items over the year. This tote is truly disappointing. The fabrication (Iron/Black) shows EVERYTHING. from raindrop water stains to the lightest smudge from the touch of a hand.

The inside does not have adequate pocket space compared to the Tumi bag this one replaced. For a bag of this fabrication, it is on the heavier side. I have tried to get assistance from customer service to exchange but, after multiple attempts, they have not been helpful at all.

Stay away from this bag in this color (Iron/Black), if not altogether.

Beautiful and functional. I’ve bought multiple pieces from the Tumi Voyageur line and have given the “just-in-case” totes as gifts. These totes fold into small rectangles and come packed in a separate carrying case that is multifunctional in its own right.

I always travel with an extra just-in-case tote — perfect for when you buy items while away that won’t fit into an already full suitcase. Great as a carry-on. While not inexpensive, these bags are durable and look fantastic.

When on a plane, this nice looking bag (dark blue with brown trim) fits nicely under the seat in front of you. The side zipper allows you to conveniently get articles out of your bag, even when it is under the seat.

This lightweight bag is easy to carry and appears to be very durable. It has a shoulder strap and a hand strap. In addition, the side part of the bag fits over the handle of your carry-on luggage. The inside of the bag has multiple storage areas and snaps.

As such, it will become my go to personal item that I carry-on a plane.

This bag is first class, premium quality. I love the roomy pockets, the slip-on opening to slide over my suitcase handle, the leather trim and carry handles, and shoulder strap. I fit so much into this tote bag and it slips easily under the seat.

Well made, good quality, nice design but overall don’t feel it was worth the price and I’m disappointed with purchase. Had the opportunity to use for recent trip and was surprised how little I could fit in the bag.

I had a checked in bag so was only using this one to carry toiletry bag and some items for plane like jacket, IPad,etc. It was stiff and bulky to carry around airport. Not what I was looking for, really wish I could return.

I found this product because I was looking for a vegan work tote that could hold my laptop, and this bag does that and so much more! I originally ordered it in taupe, but I thought the color looked more tan when it arrived.

I didn’t like the tan color, so I ordered another in black and gifted the taupe to a friend for her graduation. The only drawbacks to this bag are that the seam for the laptop sleeve unraveled after a short time and I had to repair it, and the water bottle pocket is a little weird.

I use the latter to carry my sunglasses case instead. I had emailed The Vegan Warehouse about my issue of the seam unraveling after only having the tote for about 3-4 months, and even though it was outside of my order window, they still went above and beyond to do what they could to make sure I was happy with my order and gave me store credit either to get a replacement or to find something else through the site.

Overall I ended up happy with both my order and the customer service, and I got to try some other amazing products that I’ve reviewed as well!.

I loved my Taupe Paloma so much, I ordered another one in Black. I just used it for a short trip where I needed to keep paperwork and several medications with me. The organization is perfect! Some bags have so many pockets and sections, that you can’t remember what you put where.

This bag has just the right amount of organization. There’s even a special soft-lined, insulated water bottle pocket! But, my favorite part of the bag is the zipped “trolley” strap on the back. You just unzip the bottom and it slides over your luggage.

Otherwise, you keep it zipped and it’s a great outside pocket!! Just a beautiful bag!.

I bought this tote in the cute taupe color and I have been using it for only a week but I know it’s going to be the one bag I use over and over again. I’m a big bag gal so I love the size for my day to day but for others, it may be a little too much for every day.

BUT you also have the option to bring it with you on vacation. It has so many pockets and convenient little features like the key chain that holds small things, the waterbottle slot and the big pocket on the back that you can use for luggage.

Wanted to add my 2 cents about this bag, just a couple of days into owning it. Loved that this is a veteran owned company and that this is made in the USA! Super well made, nice layout/design, and very functional.

;;Couples things I’m not a fan about – the handles. narrow, no padding, and stiff. Maybe the seat-belt style would be better, with a snap closure so you can keep them together? I’m seriously debating just cutting them off since they are so bad, and just using a shoulder strap.

not sure I want to do that yet so I’m looking for something to make that’ll help the handles be better first. ;;The trolley pass through is tight when the bag is packed. I’m struggling to get it over the handle of my rolling suitcase – which is carry on size so the handle is not that large.

We bought two of these (in colors matching our Market Totes, Air Boss, and other bags) to take on our last cruise. The bag was great for use on the plane going to the ship – I could carry my laptop, iPad, Kindle, headphones, and even my lunch.

I also used it on the island tours – had pockets for the stuff I carry and room for the camera – and even for a beach towel! So it did meet the needs and had more organization than using the Market Tote.

;;;;But – some improvements would help:;;;;1. We both thought it was a bit too heavy – even without the Long Hauler strap. Not sure what would make it lighter, however. ;;;;2. I’d really like some smaller pockets built into the outside pocket – for things like a passport or room card, cash, or camera batteries.

This bag is made to last FOREVER. In fact they you tell you that in the accompanying info. It is heavier than others but will never rip, break, tear or let you down. I use it as a daily work bag to carry papers/computer/etc.

The color wasn’t exactly as shown on the website. I only wish the colors offered weren’t so vibrant. I just don’t want to stand out in the airport. Otherwise, I am happy, really happy.

This is a much larger bag than I assumed after ordering it on clearance price – I didn’t read the description carefully. It looks well-made, the straps are strongly sewn. It’s too big for a day tote but would be just right for gym or a weekend away.

The lining has a nasty odor but a few days airing will dissipate that.

Beautiful teal color bag that’s larger than I expected. Will work as a work bag as well since the depth isn’t too wide as in most travel bags. Nylon material will be easy to clean. Recipient loved it! I would buy again at the sale price.

I am in love with this bag!!!! I was a little skeptical because the description does not give too much detail on strap drop but I ordered anyway. It is big, but I love big bags. You can use it as an every day bag, overnight or weekend bag.

I love love love my new bag!! It is quality durable leather with a beautiful shine and gorgeous hardware. This is my new favorite bag. It is not too big, but can still fit a lot inside. Also, I customized the strap and the response from Magda was super quick.

I received it a lot earlier than anticipated.

I liked my case! It protects my phone well. The only thing that I didn’t love was that the dark brown leather piece part of the case looked lighter in the pictures shown. The actual one I received is much darker.

I loved the extra large tote bag that I bought previously but it was a little too big to fit comfortably under the seat on the airplane so I bought the traveler tote which I love as well. The only thing I wish the traveler tote has was the pick up handle that the extra large tote had.

The smaller handle is easier to use to lift the tote on and off my suitcase and grab while traveling. Hope that its added to the next design of the tote.

This is a very nice tote. It has plenty of space for carrying many things and is almost like a small suitcase. Even so, it still fits nicely beneath the seat in front of you on the airplane. Great bag.

This bag seems built to last. I’ve been using it frequently over the past month or so. The pockets are roomy and easy to shove things in and out of. It cleans up beautifully. Overall, I’m very happy with it.

I travel almost every weekend. I was going to wait for a couple more weeks before I left a review but as of right now I am very pleased with this purchase. This bag retails for close to $70, so the price is more than fair.

The quality is nice too. I packed it up full this weekend and the straps held the weight just fine. Hopefully it stays that way.

The bag is not exactly of same color as photo says. its darker color . If you want exactly the same color then this item is not for you.

This is my first Salvatore Ferragamo bag, and I must say. it’s not the superior quality I anticipated. It’s a beautiful reddish color, and the leather is a nice pebbled texture. It’s stylish with a nice island vibe (color).

However, the interior gives me pause. It’s an odd fabric that looks and feels cheap. It appears it will rapidly fill with lint balls, what you would expect at a bargain store. With the reward cards, gift card and markdown, I paid less than half out of pocket, so I decided to keep it.

It compliments (exterior) my vacation attire well. Otherwise, I would have returned it!.

I’ve been a fan of Ferragamo bags, shoes, scarves and apparel for years, and was thrilled to see a practical bag in such a pretty color. It’s a great shade of turquoise, and they’ve made a few styles of shoes to match, which I still love to do sometimes.

There’s even a cardigan and matching short-sleeved top in a turquoise print. I love this bag for not just its beauty, but also for its usable size and features. Not too big, but big enough that I can stash my mail or other papers, and my necessities.

It’s going to be a favorite!.

I ordered two Ferragamo totes recently, including this one. The features that I like about this tote are the clean design and that it is more supple than some leather totes. The features that aren’t as great, and hence four stars, are that the interior isn’t dark and that the zipper is awkwardly designed.

The zipper just takes a little practice and I will keep pens in the zippered pouch that is included. I think this tote would be great for everyday use , but wouldn’t be secure enough for travel. It will be a nice addition to my collection.

The nice rectangular shape makes this an easy fit inside a carryon piece of luggage, even in a teardrop shaped conventional day pack since the thin nylon readily conforms to the available space. The upgrade to 20L is neat, but the tote can quickly get heavy so it’s not designed for multiple metal water bottles or camera gear (Osprey 13L much better for heavier tasks).

Where this excels is for bulkier but lighter stuff like warm layers at colder destinations (or flip flops at a beach), and as an ultralight place to dump stuff in flight. Well also for shopping for clothes locally.

I will often pack this with inflight items, do my ground transits with it stowed in my carryon, then pull it out at the gate for use at my seat. Restore after landing for the security transit. The space it takes up, empty, and it’s weight, are each so negligible there’s no penalty for bringing it along.

It also makes a great packing cube, and unlike a single purpose packing cube, doubles as a tote on arrival. Quality is much better than 15 years ago when REI’s “stuff” line wasn’t as sturdy or as well detailed.

Now the stuff travel tote and stuff duffel are top of their class. If you need a crossbody strap, grab the outgoing design before it sells out.

Was at my local REI shopping for holiday gifts and spotted this bad boy on a 50% off end cap display. I have a soft spot for things that stuff into their own pockets, so naturally I had to have it. It was inexpensive enough that if I only used it for groceries or running errands I was happy.

But turns out that it’s REALLY well constructed, durable, functional, and cute! (blue/orange pattern) It’s literally perfect for the day’s odds and ends: extra layer, dog leashes, snacks, small items like lip balm and phone are handy in the inner zip pocket (that it turns itself into), and slip front pocket tall enough for skinny long water bottles, or 2 because the pocket stretches! And I can chuck it anywhere in the car because the main compartment zips closed! So many cute and/or packable totes don’t do this.

The material is very light and packable, but sturdy and has strong webbing straps. It’s the perfect size, not too big, not too small. I literally take this tote with me everywhere, either using it or stuffed in a bigger bag for shopping or incidentals.

Have also used it for work holding a small binder and tablet. Favorite usage (don’t tell): sneaking all items I like to have handy for travel onto the plane – snacks (clearly very important), sanitizer, lip balm, hand lotion, scarf, wallet, phone, tablet, cords, water bottle, extra napkins for the hubby.

Attendants would try to shake me down as I board for carry on rules if I had a small backpack AND a small tote/purse for those items, even though they both got under the seat fine. Now I just use a food bag for the items and the tote (they don’t fuss bc they think it’s food you bought after security), then transfer all items to the tote and zip securely once on the plane.

Clever design and great quality. Perfect size to use as a small daypack as a backback alternative – easily fits a 32 oz. Nalgene bottle, small blanket/towel, snacks and miscellany. Interior zippered pocket is great for wallet/phone and key clip is a nice touch.

Outside pocket is also handy, though I might attach a snap or velcro strip on the top edge of it for more security. I like the fact that I can carry this as a tote or cross body. Carry straps are a little narrow but serviceable.

And although I am not smallish (5’10″/190), I found the strap long enough to wear the bag cross-body without having to replace it. Very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this bag for a trip I’m planning to Greece this summer. I wanted something multi-functional. I can use this as my carryon bag, for trips down to the beach and for any day trips. The color is really nice and almost reflective in person.

I used it for a quick weekend trip and had plenty of room for my laptop and personal effects. There are a few inner pockets to keep things organized, but I also just threw in other zippered pouches to hold onto stuff like my makeup.

I also purchased the belt bag in the blush color and that fit neatly inside, which I can then use when I’m out and about and don’t need the big bag. I love the luggage sleeve for in the airport. My only complaint is that the strap is somewhat slippery, especially if you’re wearing a puffer jacket as I was this weekend.

So I’m considering purchasing an extra strap (although hate to add any unnecessary weight.

I had been looking for quite some time for a travel bag I didn’t have to “fight with” when trying to find something in it. I couldn’t be happier with this bag! Plenty of pockets to store all travel essentials, and this bag holds a lot! Fits under the airplane seat perfectly.

Anything I want to grab out of it quickly, I put in the outside zipper pocket, earbuds…hand sanitizer, phone. love that it is pliable. The padded pocket for my iPad is so nice. Some reviewers wished it had a water bottle pocket but that I did not find problematic as I just place it upright inside on either end of the bag.

I always have enough in the bag to hold the bottle upright. The luggage strap on the outside is perfect for setting on top of a carryon roller bag , very secure. More often than not while traveling I put my MW transport shoulder crossbody inside.

I got the pale pink color but it’s more like a washed out salmon — a lot more blah than the pictures online. The bag itself is a nice size. I like the zippers and pockets. But due to the satiny texture, the bag doesn’t “sit” well.

It lacks structure. It needed to have some sort of bottom for it to be a good bag. As it is, when I put things in it, it flops on its side and falls over. I have to hang it from the straps in order to keep it upright.

Additionally, the idea of shorter and longer straps is a good one. On execution though, it’s not so great. The shorter handles sort of stick out when you’re using the longer handles; when you’re using the shorter handles, the longer handles hang loosely and unattractively.

I bought this bag on sale and it’s not-returnable, but I’d return it if I could.

Perfect as Denver is charging 10 cents for bags. To help stop the plastic waste.

I bought one of these in the bright red “fire” color at our local Orvis for fishing and sailing. The Labor Day Sale was going on—so I went back the next day, and bought several in different color-schemes.

and now my Christmas shopping is about done. Why? Because these totes are so attractive, roomy, and superior to all others that anyone—family, friends, co-workers, you name it—needs one or more of them too!.

This bag is really nice, I hesitated to purchase, as I was concerned it may not fit under an airplane seat. After a phone call to an Orvis store, I was reassured. I just made my trip, and there was no problem whatsoever fitting it under the seat, even on the small plane.

In addition, on the back of the bag, there is a sleeve which slips over your suitcase handle. The bad just sits on top , and doesn’t wobble around, which makes it very easy to maneuver through the airport.

Im very pleased with my purchase.
