20 Best Tow Behind Dethatcher (2022 Updated)

The bolts, etc weren’t in the blister pack (or whatever you call that) as described in the instructions so I called in to give them a piece of my (frustrated) mind. But actual assembly was easy enough once I identified everything.

Couple bags of play sand that I had kicking around were good to give it enough weight to really rustle up all thatch. Yes, you do have to get off pretty often to clear out twigs, etc, but only if you haven’t gone to the effort to do so prior – if you think of it that way it’s probably less work overall.

I added a hitch and pull a sweeper behind it so it’s a true One Pass system. I mulch and apparently there’s a common misconception out there that mulching creates more thatch but actual grassland experts say No, that is not actually the case.

Regardless, lawns sure benefit from dethatching. I’m about to do my 1. 5 acres for fall – I think twice a year is good. And if you cost that out vs hiring in someone each time you soon see the beauty of owning your own machine and for the money this is the one to get.

I bought this product in order to stop renting dethatchers at $50 – $75 per day. The research I did beforehand led me to conclude that the Brinly tow-behind was a good product. I am very pleased with this product! The assembly process is straightforward, just take your time and do it right.

I hooked it up to my Toro Timecutter and dethatched my lawn with superb results. Afterwards I just mowed and bagged all the thatch. The quality is excellent and I plan to use it twice a year on my lawn.

I may even use it to scarify a couple of areas that I want to turn into natural meadow.

This unit is strictly for function, no bling or useless bells and whistles. It does exactly what it says it will do in a basic and elegantly simple design. The assembly instructions could have had larger graphics of the way parts went together, otherwise it was pretty simple, but having good dexterity with fingers helps lining up holes for bolts.

The first time I used it, I didn’t had the cement blocks and it still removed a lot of thatch. My front laws was attacked by army worms and much of it was dead. The dethatcher, weighted down with two cement blocks, did an awesome job pulling up dead grass and scarifying the hard soil so it would accept grass seed.

In no time at all, I had wheelbarrows full of thatch, ten in all. It was done in an hour and it would have taken me days by hand. The only drawback is a result of how well it works, the tines had to be cleared of thatch.

I suggest there be a easier way to remove the thatch by having the tines adjust higher. That’s why I didn’t mark “ease of use” excellent, just “good”. I just wish I’d gotten this years ago and saved myself a lot of hand raking.

We wanted to help our lawn get more air and water to the soil so we decided to try the Craftsman Tow Behind Dethatcher to get the job done. And wow it did it! it hooked up super easy to my John Deere riding lawnmower and easy to tow.

I put two cinder blocks on the top to help push the times down further. I did a couple passes and also went on different directions. It really broke up pine needles and dig up just a bunch of stuff. I went back over with the grass bag and it just sucked up all the undergrowth the dethatcher brought to the surface.

And I know there was a ton of junk because it filled my bag so much faster then usual. I prefer the Craftsman brand as they have a reputable name of putting out great products. It might not look like it does much, but you will be so surprised to find it really does! Well worth the purchase and highly recommend!!.

I was finally able to use this, and was very impressed with how well it worked. It hook up to my mower (non-craftsman brand), easily with no adjustments. I placed a cinder block on top and did my entire 2.

5 acres of grass. My yard is quite uneven so I was worried about the tines bending, but had no issues with that. Of course, I had to clean it out often, but was absolutely amazed at all the dead grass it brought up.

It also grabbed up quite a few clumps of crabgrass and other weeds. I think this will make a huge improvement of the quality of my lawn bow that it has been thinned out of all the yard waste that had been pressed down.

Assembly wasn’t too bad, I did need a hand putting it together but it was pretty straightforward and not too complex.

I am so amazed at what a difference this little thatcher makes! Snow in the Dakotas and me getting a full knee replacement I haven’t been able to use it until yesterday and I was so surprised. That’s even amazed at how nice it made the yard look and how much it dug up.

This little guy to anyone easy to hook up nice to pull behind your riding lawn mower You don’t even know it’s back there and does a very good job.

Used it today in our 5 acre pasture. Good quality steel, tines hardware. The wheel assembly instructions are incorrect though. If you follow them, the wheels won’t turn/roll freely. Easy fix though. The weight tray has three distinct sections…unfortunately, only the two outside sections will fit concrete blocks…the middle section is too short.

Also, sides are not tall enough to keep the blocks from falling out-had to use bungee cords to hold them in. Overall, glad I purchased it. Transporting is easily done by simply attaching the unit tines up-nice feature.

I like the Brinly brand.

While the 480BH pull-behind dethatcher is not as effective as a power tine dethatcher, it works quite well, especially considering the price. Instructions for assembly are rather simple, though you may need to focus on the illustrations help to ensure correct orientation of some of the parts.

It took a few extra minutes to manually set the correct height of the implement after hooking it up to my 4-wheeler, but the instructions for this part were straight forward. Keep in mind this is not an on-the-fly adjustable unit, rather you manually adjust the height, then tighten all the bolts.

Since I only plan on using this piece of equipment on my lawn, I don’t anticipate needing to make adjustments in the future. Overall, for the price, this is a well built and stable implement that will likely last quite a few years.

It did remove a considerable amount of thatch from my 3/4 acre lawn. I recommend using a couple of rubber bungee cords to strap a couple concrete blocks on top of the unit to help keep the tines down into the lawn and avoid bouncing on rougher lawns.

The ensures this implement works even more effectively. Would definitely recommend it for someone on a budget that wants a decently effective dethatcher.

My dethatcher arrived within one week of ordering. It was surprisingly easy to assemble with clear instructions and illustrations. I found it easy to level with my garden tractor. My first project was prepping one-half acre of meadow for wildflower seeding.

It worked great. I used bungee cords to strap on some extra weight to increase dethatching and to slightly till soil. Tip for transporting the device to work site once leveled: I have a garden dump cart for pulling behind my garden tractor.

It is ideal for carrying the dethatcher. The tines cradle nicely over the sides of the cart, plus I can carry any additional tools I may need. I am very happy with this product and would purchase it again.

Follow instructions for installation. Be sure to use (2) carriage bolts & nuts when tightening hitch arm bracket to the axle bracket when instructed. Tines to be adjusted so front and rear tines slightly bend when touching the ground at the same time while attached to tow device.

Must be adjusted when attached to tow device on level surface. Pictures of large heavy concrete blocks are too much weight for a “slight bending of tines”. I found through phoning and talking with customer service that for this “slight bending of tines” when lowered to ground that one (1) each side of de-thatcher, two (2) total, works best with garden department type Patio Stones.

Approximately 2″ X 8″ X 16″. This amount of weight did a great job on our lawn without doing damage to lawn or de-thatcher. We ended up with getting a huge amount of thatch out of our lawn. I had previously bought concrete blocks which were much to heavy by looking at various photos on the web sites, even the 4″X8″X16″ were too heavy.

Stay with “garden department Patio Stones” of the 2″ X 8″ x 16″ size and tow at just a fast walk for forward speed and you too will find great results! I used large heavy duty cable ties to secure the 2’X8″X16″ Patio Stones to the tray.

My main purpose in purchasing this was to do ground preparation for seeding grass. The “lawn” consisted of an odd variety of grass and weeds and a lot of bare ground. With the ground slightly damp, I drug the dethatcher over the surface a few times in different directions.

This did a good job loosening the soil and creating rows. I used a spreader to apply the seed. Then, I hit the area again with the dethatcher to help “plant” the seeds. A little rain fell and I will follow with occasional watering if necessary and we will see if it worked.

But the dethatcher work well. Only complaint – the attachment of wheels is poorly designed. If you follow the instructions, the wheels won’t turn. When you loosen them (so they will rotate) they are skewed (but they do roll).

Then, one wheel fell off during use So, while not a fatal flaw, some sort of axle or at least a properly angled frame would make this a five-star review.

I’ve put together a lot of products over the past 76 years and the best use for most of the assembly instructions is to help light my wood stove. Usually I think they’re written by some guy in the sales department who doesn’t know a screw driver from a wrench and tells me to use the “pre-drilled” hole.

(And I always wonder what the difference is between a pre-drilled hole and a regular hole. ) Let’s face it, putting this thing together isn’t rocket science. But with this de-thatcher, I felt the Agri-Fab guy who wrote the manual had actually built one, following the steps in his book to see if he got it right.

Nice job! And it reads like it was written by someone who passed high school English. (Sometimes you need an interpreter to straighten out the sentences. ) The drawings are top notch. Clear. Well noted.

Nicely labeled. Almost museum quality art. I can’t rate the second half of the manual. It’s been way too many years since I tried to habla my may through HS Spanish. I’m sure my teacher, Senior Carlson, thought the Army did the smart thing, sending me to Germany, where I didn’t have to know Espanol.

I did get creative and switch up your Instruction 13. I put the rear springs on first so the front springs didn’t get in the way when I “tapped” the tabs down with a hammer. One firm tap made bending them with a screw driver much easier.

After completing the assembly and showing off my handy work to my wife, I loaded on a few old bricks from the barn and pulled your machine around the yard. Work fine. Made quite a mess with some twenty years of dead grass to pull up.

Sucked that up into the catcher and the lawn looked pretty good. I’ll do it some more, and with a little fertilizer, a little water and a prayer, my place will be looking like a state park.

I bought this as the foundation for the construction of an affordable 3 pt hitch dethatcher. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was easy to add a 2 in receiver style hitch and it now mounts on my sub-compact tractor with my three point 2 in receiver attachment.

The price was right (especially on sale). If you looking for a dethatcher to do light residential work this feels like a good fit. If you have a very large property or trying to maintain multiple properties you might want to consider something built heavier.

4th year and this de-thatcher remains excellent. Clears dead grass well, so much so, picking it up with a bagger was more work than the de-thatching. But the results are terrific. Seed takes well without additional prep.

Love the SmartLink platform, and this tool is the best of the bunch.

First time using a tine thatcher on my yard. I had no idea what to expect. My yard is a mix of fescue and bermuda. It didn’t rake up much but it did tear up the long runs of bermuda. Time will tell if it helps the overall health of my lawn.

This is an excellent Dethatcher! Surprisingly very effective for its size. I was going back and forth about buying or renting a unit but renting one has it’s Pros and Cons and finally decided to make the investment into buying one and I’m so glad I did.

It’s so easy to put together. All you need is a screw driver to tighten the lower handle bar and everything else is hand tightened. This unit comes with an extra set of tines should one or more ever need to be replaced and the instruction booklet shows step by step how that’s done.

Now I’ve lived at my home for 30 years and never dethatched my lawn. This year I had an infestation of grubs that the eliminator I put down for them every season did not penetrate through to keep them at bay and ravaged my lawn badly.

This was the motivating factor for me to finally take the plunge and purchase this unit. It does the job with such power and ease and leaves a thick trail of thatch behind with every pass. NEVER pull it backwards!!! Always go with the forward motion so you don’t damage the unit or your lawn.

Make sure you clear any twigs, branches, rocks, and cut your lawn before you start the process to get best results. ALWAYS USE THE CORRECT EXTENSION CORD FOR OUTDOOR USE!! Took me about 30 minutes to dethatch, collect the thatch and clean up my front lawn.

I still have my back yard to do but the weather hasn’t been cooperating and will have to wait until the Spring to do it WHICH is fine by me knowing I have this unit and able to pull it out and use it when the time is right.

The handle on this can be folded down for easy storage. I kept the box it came in and will be storing it away that way. Keep it clean and neat. This is such a great quality unit that it’s worth the investment.

Watch out for your neighbors who want to take turns borrowing it!!!!.

This little tool is amazing. Prior to purchasing this I rented a scarifier from a hardware store because my lawn (almost an acre) was more thatch and moss than lawn. It did okay, but it was incredibly heavy and loud! I was able to purchase the dethatcher for the price of that rental and it was so much easier to use and removed the same (if not more) than the professional gas powered one.

I hesitate to use the word “fun” but seeing how much thatch this was able to remove from my lawn while being 10% of the weight and 5X the maneuverability was fun. My only issue is that I have not figured out a way to effectively use a cord as long as I need (100′) without getting bunched up, but that has nothing to do with the machine itself.

I highly recommend it, and if you have a smaller yard this will be the only tool you need to dethatch and you’ll be amazed at how much you are able to remove.

Never dethatched my lawn before and it definitely needed it. I could see all the dried dead grass blocking the soil. Raking by hand never seemed to get it up. This dethatcher was the answer. Started at the lowest setting and quickly realized I needed to go the lowest depth.

Made a couple passes while raking a pile of dead grass in between each one. Had a few piles each time. Grass looked much cleaner right after. I fertilized right after and a couple weeks later, lawn looks much better.

The extension cord is kind of a pain to deal with but manageable. Took a while to rake the yard after each pass. Next time, I may just use my lawnmower with the bag on the pick up the thatch. Overall, this is a great buy.

I’ve only used this a couple of times on my small yard but I do see an improvement. We have a lot of dry spots and weeds, most of our yard is shaded so grass hasn’t ever grown super well but I’m happy to see a small improvement so far.

I read it’s best to use a dethatcher in the fall so I plan to go at it more then. I feel like the dethatcher is made pretty well, even if it’s plastic and light weight. It is easy to push and was really simple to put together, it was packaged very well.

I’ve never owned an electric yard tool so getting used to the cord takes some getting used to, kind of feels like I’m vacuuming my yard, haha. The collection bag is pretty small and has to be emptied a lot, it might be easier to take the bag off and use a leaf blower after.

Overall, I’m happy with my new yard toy and I look forward to making my yard look amazing, maybe we’ll win yard of the month finally!.

I was expecting this machine to do an ok job, but I was very impressed by how well this removed the thatch, and there was a lot. It ran very well through even the thick areas. I also tried the scarifier attachment and it was fantastic as well.

Made fast work of the prep for reseeding. We have a. 25 acre back yard and the machine was fantastic. Even the neighbor was impressed and wants to buy one. It’s light weight and easy to use. The catcher bag is way too small, but I used it anyway and the air vent at the front requires frequent cleaning, but those are the only nuisances, apart from the very long extension cord I used.

The Sun Joe Electric Lawn Dethatcher is just what our yard needed this year. The machine game with a 13. 2-gallon collection bag for the clippings. The machine was easy to set up, and a breeze to run.

The height can be adjusted, and I was able to get it to just the right height to maximize the thatch depth. I highly recommend if someone has been renting dethatcher machines. The bagger can be taken off if you prefer to just rake the clippings, and dry grass.

I like that it is electric, with nothing to refill or change. We can keep the machine in our garage without a lawn smell. I will be using it again in a few weeks, just to get the lawn ready for full growing season.

I received this dethatcher about a week ago. Was able to put it together by myself in about 45 minutes and with a socket wrench. The pin to attach to my Cub Cadet mower was included and attachment was easy.

I used it once to pull up some matted down leaves from last fall and mulched cuttings on the lawn using the tallest setting possible and no weight. It pulled up a good deal and worked as I had hoped.

With a weight and setting the tines further down relative to the wheels I feel I should likely approximate the outcomes I had when using an electric plug in dethatcher, but this will go a lot quicker.

The build is sturdy. One feature which would be nice would be to somehow raise the tines when transporting from say the garage to the lawn, as the tines scrape along the way. Not a big deal, especially given I’ll probably use to start the spring and to overseed in the fall, but some way to lift the setup would be helpful.

Otherwise, I view this as a great value and it’s exactly what I was looking for at a solid price. Would highly recommend Brinly Hardy name (this is my first purchase of anything from them), and the dethatcher.

I use the thatcher to “rake” my seashell driveway. It is a rather long and curved driveway. My big issue is the growing of weeds. Keeping them at bay is always difficult. The Thatcher allows me to rake the drive to pull out those deadly weeds.

Then I use a chain link fence to smooth the surface. My current 10 year old thatcher was falling apart due to the SW Florida weather. My replacement I have primed and painted it for prevention of the Florida weather.

We will see how it lasts. Don’t miss my point, the thatcher is great. Did not hesitate to purchase a replacement. If anything I wish it had more rust pretection.

Went together easy. Using it behind a zero turn with a bagger. Needed to cut the lowering handle in half. It interfered with the bagger frame which would require tools to remove. I think the design is to be able to lower the tines from the tractor seat, which I wasnt going to be able to do any way with my motor behind me.

No big deal. Lower the tines, get on the tractor, and go. Works great. Two blocks was the perfect weight for our soil conditions. I think it does a better job than the gas dethatcher that I used to rent.

Did a 1 acre lawn around a lot of trees and gardens in about 20 minutes. Lawn looks great about 2 weeks later.

I have just under an acre and use a John Deere rider and an Ariens zero turn to maintain the property. I wanted a quick way of thatching the yard and chose this product. what a mistake! First off the instructions are ridiculous and lacked the detail to properly assemble it.

Second, it’s a two-man job to hold the parts and pieces or you will struggle miserably with it. Next the parts don’t line up properly as they don’t match the instructions so two of us that are in our mid-50s one with an engineering background could not figure out how this thing goes together properly so that it would function correctly! The tines rubs the wheels and it doesn’t allow the device to even touch the grass.

The worst part is that I wasted 2 1/2 hours of my life with the assembly of a poorly designed product. The best part is that it was promptly returned to the store and I will spend my money on some thing more worthy.

I wouldn’t give it any stars except the system forces you to at least offer one, good luck!.

It is a bit flimsy but it does what its supposed to do. Will require a bit of weight to keep good ground contact, but not much. I have two cinder block halves tied down, any more and it seems like the tines would become compromised.

*Kit was missing two essential bolts for assembly so I had to use what I had lying around, required me to drill out the holes a tad bigger. * If youre looking for something to help with thatch and do not want to break the bank, this may be a good item to start with.

Wouldnt expect real long term use though.

I was not sure about this product at first, as it looked like it was a cheaper version from some others. I was wrong, this works great & i highly recommend! The one thing I hated, was the instructions for assembling this! Read, look at images, then read again.

otherwise you’ll be backing up & re-doing steps like i had to do. Once assembled, I’m very satisfied!.

It was a great pleasure to just pic k the box up at Lowes, Dar thing was heavy, gave me convadence, it would be strong. It is, Very imprest with construction and ease of assembly. It preformed very well and did a great job.

While it thatches okay, it needs some additional weight and parts bend if too much weight is used. It is not a heavy piece of equipment. It was easy to assemble. Remember you need to rake after it.

I ordered this through Home Depot and although it arrived with a bent corner, I did not think it would impact its use, so I straightened with some pliers. My wife read instructions while I turned the wrenches for assembly.

I would say 45 minutes and it was together. I checked the height of the tines by attaching to my ride on mower and no adjustments were required – probably because we put it together on cement floor which allowed the tines to be in contact on a level solid surface.

I ran around the yard without weights, and it pulled out a bunch of random Bermuda and a ton of thatch as well as the old gumballs that had become embedded in the soil. I am concerned about how long it will last as the metallurgy seems a bit thin, but for the first pass – excellent results.

Now to rake all that deadfall.

The Dethatcher works like it should. Really pulled up the dead grass my yard. Not that difficult to assemble the instructions are not the best to understand. Some of the bolts were hard to install because some of the tines were in the way( engineering could be better).

With blocks added for more weight it is impossible to raise and lower the unit from the seat of the mower. The handle is made out of to light of material ( it bends to easy). Having to get on and off the mower to raise and lower the unit adds a lot of time to the job.

I purchased the Scarifier/Dethatcher based on YouTube videos though I was a bit skeptical it would work on my matted lawn. It was very easy to assemble, all the screw holes lined up perfectly, no extra re-drilling or special tools required! My lawn is overly thick and lumpy though I hand thatched last year.

I thought the Sun Joe would bog down quickly so I set it at medium depth to save the motor. After a few rows I lowered it down and ripped up a ton of thatch with the motor humming along nicely! As online reviews stated the grass catcher is pretty useless, plus if it did work I would have had to empty it a couple hundred times.

I decided to prop the back door open a little with a stick to see if the machine wouldn’t require me unclogging it by hand periodically. Not a good idea. it caught a little rock and nailed me in the shin! So I can attest the motor is plenty powerful! I didn’t wear safety glasses but in the future I will.

Its pretty fun and easy to use, I am going to make a second pass next week after the moss killer does its job.

Bought this to help aide in scarifying and de-thatching our lawn in the Pacific Northwest. We get a fair amount of moss growth over the winter (around 40%) and I bought this tool to upgrade from my current manual thatching rake.

This dethatcher is easy to unbox and assemble (less than 15 minutes) and use pretty much immediately. The amount of thatch in a lawn can vary significantly, so what I will say is that for our specific lawn (about 1/4 acre) – we had about 40% moss and thatch covering our lawn.

Set on the lowest thatching setting, this tool works like a dream and the sound level is bearable. One pass and a significant amount of thatch is dislodged. A second pass will reveal much more. Using this tool is addictive because it produces immediate results that you can see.

A few things though for your consideration: make sure you have the right gauge of outdoor extension cord – I had to purchase a longer and heavier gauge cord, the supplied catch bag is tiny and relatively useless unless you have a very very small yard and very little thatch – after one brief pass of about 10 feet, my bag would be full, so instead I just use the machine without the bag and collect all the thatch manually using a wide leaf rake.

It’s still easier than using a manual thatch rake by far! Keep in mind that you need to plan to mow your grass very low BEFORE using this scarifier. Also, it is helpful to water the lawn the day prior, and keep an eye on that power cord and be careful not to run over it!.

This is my favourite lawn care tool. I bought this and used it a few times (twice in the spring and once in the fall) and I couldn’t believe how much thatch this machine pulled out of my yard. The yard could grow so much easier and lots of moisture could get down to the roots.

This fall as I was about to overseed, I pulled out the machine, did one pass on the lawn, and then it didn’t seem to be pulling any thatch out. I wondered if the setting was too high for the lot, but still nothing.

My husband had a look and noticed that the gears were stripped. A phone call to the service dept and another unit was being sent free of charge. I highly recommend this company. They provide great phone support, and they stand by their word.

I can’t believe that all these years of raking, raking and raking my yard to no end with little results of getting that old dead brown stuff out of my grass. I fell in love with my thatcher. I wouldn’t be able to live without it now.

You won’t be sorry at all if you buy this little machine. Though the cord can be quite annoying, I think I will go for the cordless when and if I need to ever replace this one. However, for the eazy fast results, I can learn to appreciate the cord.

And, assembly was a breeze.

received dethacher today, ten minutes to assemble knobs did front yard in less than 30 minutes. the amount of leftover grass it picked up was fantastic! the rear bagging system is great, it’s helpful you can see when it’s full.

also loosened soil as it dethached. all I have to do now is seed ground, thanks.

My son was thaching with a hand thacher. It looked hard and back braking so I went online and purchased the Earthwise dethatcher. Received it in two days. He loves his new toy. He and I are so happy for this purchase.

After this summer’s drought in the Midwest, my lawn was looking pretty bad. After watching several YouTube videos of others promoting the benefits of dethatching I decided to give it a try. Just finished on our two year old lawn (sod on poor quality builders soil) and I couldn’t believe how much brown dead grass came up.

In most places it didn’t get all the way down to black dirt, but it did get down to the sod base peat or whatever it came on. The lawn already looks greener, just from removing the brown grasses. It didn’t take much green grass at all, which surprised me.

The toughest part was minding the extension cord, which was manageable with the help of my Wife keeping the cord out of the way, and then picking up the piles of dead grass. As many have mentioned, use your mower with a bagger! Went over the lawn a couple of times to remove dead grass and then watered.

Looks better already and and I have aeration set up in a few days and will overseed. I can see the grass seed and water can now get down in the lawn where it can germinate. Great value for the price, but if you can afford it – the battery powered version would be much faster.

My TW picked this up for me for Christmas! It’s been bitterly cold here and so had to wait for the right day to test it out. We back into a pond that hasn’t been cleared all season. Here’s my take on the unit so far: 1) assembly was easy and overall I’m impressed with the instruction manual, fit and finish and operating instructions.

Unit was well packaged and completely pristine. 2) feature I couldn’t seem to find on the CT website but it DOES have: electric start! But it starts with a single pull each time too. 3) feature it doesn’t have and you might not have picked up on it, but you can probably figure out how to add one later: light kit.

4) this is a 6hp unit and it chewed through everything I threw at it! The snow was hard on top, smooth heavy pellets and sort of a weird hard pack base layer. And, the kids had ran across it a bunch too so they packed it down as well.

It. Cleared. It. All. I was out for about 2 hours, and as you can see the rink is a decent size. Also cleared a path out to it. Took about a tank of gas. Maybe a little less. I might lower the feet a bit to get a bit closer to the ice, next time.

Looking forward to the next snowfall.

Bought it last Thursday during sale in the store, brought it home in the back of a Honda CV-R. Started on the first pull, nice and smooth. Sat a week in garage until todays snowfall. Chewed through 15cm of rapidly turning wet snow with nary a hesitation.

Threw for 20′ easily. Did 5 driveways and 3 long pathways on about a tank and a half of gas. At the very end of today’s run i snag a hidden rock. Two shear pins broke, just as designed, auger completely undamaged save for a small scratch where the rock hit.

Took 20 seconds to install new pins. All in all VERY satisfied for a harsh first day. A+.

We purchased a Certified last year from Canadian Tire, and it was nothing but trouble from the minute we got it home. It took 45 minutes to warm up. It couldn’t handle heavier snow at all, and blew belts every other time we used it.

Locating belts for it at Canadian Tire alone was a pain in the rump as well. So we purchased this Husqvarna as replacement as the price point was decent for a Husqvarna, and it operates a million times better.

NEVER buy a cheap snow blower. Lesson learned.

HERE’S MY HONEST REVIEW. Built/Works well. I was not expecting to do my own fabricating to make it work for the amount of money spent even though it was to fit the specific mower. The instructions for fabricating were found in a package with bolts however not in the description when purchased.

Cutting and drilling required hardened drill bits and cut-off saw due to the heavy metal. Fastening plates were too short and had to be modified a bit to work on the frame. Due to the design of the mount the front mower cover plate needed modification to fit due to the way the mount attaches.

Contacted manufacturer about owner fabrication that I felt should have been done before shipping and was told that was the way it comes. I then sent pictures of poor fitment and the alterations needed however no response or there was a lack of concern.

I do understand how engineering never likes outside input to help with design to address concerns. I guess it is what it is!.
