Helen Keller…my daughter learned about this in school this past year and knew everything up and down about Helen Keller. She immediately was inspired to grow as a person and I was just so impressed how playing with a toy took a different turn.

She commented that the Braille is for the blind or people that have sight disabilities and just loved the book accessory and the beautiful doll is a show stopper. So much emotion and positive energy from this doll.

I love this doll. She has a sweet expression on her face. Her smile is subtle, yet warm. I especially love the box. I love the fact that Mattel used Braille on the box. We are buying more in our Amazon cart of these insipiring woman figure dolls.

I was so impressed by this Helen Keller Barbie from the doll itself to the packaging. When I first opened the package the doll came in I noticed the packaging was heavier and that it had braille on the front and back of the package.

That was really impressive because I have never seen that before on any packaging. My daughter also really enjoyed the braille as I read what the packaging said she followed along with her fingers. She has never seen braille writing before.

The doll was also great quality and very detailed. I would recommend this to a collector or any child that likes to explore history.

Honestly a lot lower quality than a regular funko pop which is dissapointing. Mine came with bumps and general discoloration in some spots. Along with that, its not really made with DIY in mind. Its practically impossible to paint the area between the arm and the side of the torso.

You cant remove body parts to make things easier and its just generally dissapointing.

Love this Funko Pop! It was very easy to transform into the character I was imagining. The modeling clay that I used easily stuck to the figure. I liked the fact that the head even turns. I was not expecting that so it was a pleasant surprise.

This vinyl figure is NOT a bobblehead. The head does not move (or “bobble”). I ordered one expecting a bobblehead, thought they sent me the wrong product, returned mine, received another, and it was the same thing! The vinyl figure is very nice.

But just know that it is NOT a bobblehead.

She is very nice with her sword and shield. Nice colors and as always well made. My Granddaughter knew who she was. That makes me very happy.

At first i didn’t now the size of the box, which literally so big! Hahaha! And the teddy bottle is so so cuteeee! Great deal as it comes with the cute travel edt, shower gel and lotion too! It smells soooo good and has light musky scent in it so its so perfect for a sweet tooth like me❤️ really, a good purchase and my sister is jealous of me! Haha.

Absolutely stunning present. Went down so well with the wife for Christmas. The smell is beautiful and last for ages. This 2 bottle gift pack was the right choice also as my daughter has permanently borrowed the smaller bottle.

Im currently using this scent. And i find that this whole set is actually cheaper. I love the lotion and bath gel. Makes the scent on me last longer. It also gives out a stronger scent.

As a toy it’s very basic. Hollow, white with orange paint. It doesn’t DO anything. The trigger doesn’t even move BUT, I bought it to paint! I made a few cosmetic alterations and now it’s a fairly accurate representation of a Star Wars E11 stormtrooper blaster.

The sculpting work is fairly accurate. As a toy you need a LOT of imagination to enjoy it but as a potential Star Wars fan prop it’s great! It’s worth all depends on what you want it for.

It’s a great looking prop for a stormtrooper costume. Being a decent size and the amount of detail makes it wildly popular for modifying it to look more like what you see in the movies. If you are looking for something with some weight or that has electronics, then this isn’t for you.

I am reviewing this as a model maker not as a normal consumer. This is the best blaster for the money. Needs a nice paint job and a few kit bash pieces to bring it to life but this is the best replica of this rifle I’ve ever seen.

Non functional but most of my replica weapons are. Anyone who enjoys conversion projects will like this piece.

My daughter has recently fallen in love with a TV show that chronicles historical figures and their impact on the contemporary world. Finding books to continue engaging her interest was easy, but finding toys that would be integrated was a little trickier.

She was over the MOON when we got this doll. She didn’t know who Susan B. Anthony was (that came later) but she knew from the outfit and the look that this was “someone historical. ” It made me realize that there is a gap in the market for historical fashion dolls.

We have monsters and superheroes and now cave people, why not more historical dolls? The Susan B. Anthony doll itself is very well made, a step above even the typical Barbie brand craftsmanship. The outfit, the hair (gray!), and facial features and expression mark with this doll as different.

The design work is evodent. This is not just a leftover Barbie they threw a black dress on. The doll comes in lovely packaging, featuring some details about Anthony and showing images of Suffragettes.

Would it be too much to hope for a whole suffragette’s series, with Alice Paul and the Pankhursts? While I know they can’t be huge money makers, I so appreciate that Barbie has this line and provides play options that are educational and outside the realm of the typical.

I liked it personally as Im working on a project that requires authentic 19th century details. The Barbie has a great hair do, cute spectacles and is slightly more natural and human looking than your average sex pot Barbie.

The hands are very nicely molded. The dress is OK. they couldnt have made it any cheaper looking, but I can upgrade it, not a problem. Id say if you can get the doll for a low enough price its a good deal.

But she isnt worth 100 dollars. And she doesn’t particularly resemble Susan B Anthony.

I gave my daughter the Susan B. Anthony Barbie Inspiring Women Doll. She has many Barbies to begin with, so I was not sure how she would respond to another doll. She opened this doll and looked at it with amazement and awe, like it was the most precious one she has ever received.

She handled it to gently and thought she looked “fancy”. As a mother, I love seeing little girls exposed to these types of dolls. A doll that shows a courageous woman that is willing to stand up for what she believes in.

I love her! I don’t usually remove collectibles from their boxes, but I had to with this one. She’s my new accountability partner. First things first, her natural hair is so soft. It’s actually pulled back into a curly Afro puff with a rubber band around it and it looks like it can be restyled but I haven’t tried that yet.

She has beautiful eyes, full lips, and a curvy body with defined calf muscles. I love her attire. Her top is very detailed as is her hair care product. The lid is removable and I’m sure it’s for ages 6 and up because of those two small parts.

What a beautiful doll! I love these Inspiring Women Dolls. The colors of Walker’s blouse and skirt where vibrant with lots of detail. The reason why this review has only 4 stars is because this doll did not resemble Madame C.

Thank you Target and Barbie for this detailed and good quality doll of Rosa Parks!!!!! Target has done an excellent job including African American merchandise in their stores. For example, the black Santa Christmas bowls and plates; the black Santa wrapping paper, the ladder climbing with music black Santas in the small and large versions as well as the Black History month merchandise.

My daughter and I love this and we will continue to shop at Target.

I’m a current nursing student and my first set of textbooks included a book about Florence Nightingale. I have learned so much about how she went above and beyond in caring for patients and her journey to become a nurse.

It’s an honor to look up to her as I journey to become an RN. I support woman like her. I hope more dolls are created for other women who beat the odds.

I bought this very special barbie for my daughter! She is a nurse and I always called her my Florence Nightingale ever since she was in nursing school. Couldn’t find this doll until now and gave it to her for nurses week! She cried and hug the doll that represents all nurses everywhere and the fact her mom always told her the story and called her Florence Nightingale.

A absolutely must by for any nurse!.

This is the latest in Mattel’s Inspiring Women Line. I liked the choice of Ida B Wells, who is a very inspiring women of historical greatness. Her clothing was quite appropriate, with a high-necked black gown and white lace collar that was typical of the late Victorian era.

The box interior picture and newspaper detail are very appealing for collectors. The one thing I disliked about the doll, and it was enough to make me not like it, was the inclusion of drawn-on “baby hair.

” Baby hair is a modern trend that is popular in the Black community. I usually like it when Mattel gives their dolls of color baby hairs. But it’s not appropriate for Ida B Wells, because it is ahistorical.

I also disliked the placement of shadows on her face, which were drawn on to replicate the lighting in the photograph. They did not look very life-like. I hope the next historical woman of color in the Inspiring Women line will have historically accurate hair, and be drawn with the features of a living person, rather than a photograph.

This would be a nice gift for an older child who is interested in history. Especially Black history. Or even an adult!.

I really love this series that Mattel is releasing about inspiring women. First I want to comment on the box, I love how the box is as much of a treat as the doll. It has this lovely orange color with a transparent white design on the side.

The back tells the story of the featured person, in this case Ida B Wells and showcases her achievements. The scene behind the doll is room from her time period with a copy of the Memphis Free Speech framed on the wall, which is a nice touch.

I like how the doll has a barbie touch but it has a unique feel onto itself to make it distinct. The doll appears to have a more normal body frame than a standard barbie. I really love the lace detail on the dress around the collar, down the front, and around the bodice.

I do think the newspaper accessory is a nice touch as well. I think the doll is a great showcase doll. This doll was a great conversational prompt with my girls. From seeing the doll they instantly wanted to know more about her history and it spurred them to research more about Ida.

I think it would be nice if there was a QR code that would like to additional information about Ida because I think the doll is a great starting point to learn more. I this doll is a great part of an inspiring line.

The doll looks even better out of the box! There are so many small details on her dress that are easy to miss. The fabric is heavy with a black striped weave and there is lace at her hem. I love the black boots underneath her dress, but wish the doll was wearing tights or other undergarments that were period appropriate.

She is also fully jointed, which one would hope for the price point, and comes with a small newspaper that I am leaving in its plastic cover since it is pretty delicate. Her hairstyle looks realistic and matches photos of Ida B.

Well’s hairstyle almost exactly. My preschool age daughter was excited to play with her and immediately decided she was a teacher. Ida has since been instructing all her other dolls. While my daughter is still a bit young to fully understand that this doll was made to look like a real person who lived some time ago, l appreciate that this doll, like others in the series, can help teach my daughter about all the amazing women in history, especially women of color.

My 7 year old daughter loves Barbie so I was excited about this line of historical dolls for her to get to know through play. I learned a lot as a child playing with historical American Girl Dolls so I really connect with this concept.

When I showed her the options in this Barbie Inspiring Women Series her favorite by far was Ella Fitzgerald because she loved her dress and that she was a singer. When the doll arrived she was very excited to play with her.

Her dress really is beautiful and well made and an extra step above a normal Barbie outfit. She loves her makeup and manicure. I played her Ella Fitzgerald singing as she played and told her a little bit about this famous singer.

I thought the idea of this series was great and now I can say for sure it’s a wonderful way to bring historical women to life for children. My daughter loves that she comes with a mic stand but the stand is not as sturdy as she would like which is disappointing.

It would be a great addition to this line if they included a small insert about the woman to explain her history and girls could then learn more about these women. When opening consider leaving on the clear plastic straps around her shoes as they are backless they will not stay on well on their own.

This is a beautiful doll for a collector but I also think the price makes it a doll that can be taken out and played with.

I brought this doll for my adult daughter who is a doll collector and who absolutely loves the Barbie Signature line. The first doll I purchased for her from this line was Rosa Parks, and now Ella Fitzgerald.

Thanks to Target I was also lucky enough to purchase Katherine Johnson. All dolls have been Valentine’s presents to my daughter. Rosa in 2020 and Ella and Katherine in 2021. My daughters loves them all.

She said she wishes the next Signature dolls can be the legendary actress Cicely Tyson and poet/writers Zora Neale Hurston and Maya Angelou and I agree I would love to see them added to this line and even the legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson.

As an ardent Ella fan, I was worried whether if Mattel would do justice to her face and body. Ella was a curvy woman, more so as she was older, and I didn’t know if Mattel would reflect such. I’m glad to see a thick body type was used for Ella that does look as she did as a young woman.

The hairstyle on the doll NAILS Ella’s hair, and the face is a good likeness with a Barbie-fied touch. My only criticism of the face is that every image I’ve seen of Ella was with a MUCH bigger smile on her face and slightly fuller lips.

Otherwise, the nose, cheekbones, and rounded eyebrows are quite reminiscent of the real Ella Fitzgerald. The sparkly gown is just lovely and looks quite appropriate for a classy jazz stage, and the tall, vintage mic is a perfect touch! Such a dynamite job on this doll, and it’s so important that this iconic doll is available at a reasonable price point for young girls, while also retaining enough quality and detail to easily be displayed in or out of the box for pickier collectors.

Mattel really nailed the balance on this doll!.

When I was a little girl my mom bought me the holiday Barbie every year. We never opened we just collected them and compared the changes from year to year. My daughter has seen my “special Barbies that are still in the box and asked when she was about 3 if she could have a special Barbie in the box.

I told her we would see. Fast forward to to Mattel’s Inspiring Women Series and the first special Barbie she received was Katherine Johnson. Now we add Ida B Wells to this collection. This doll is beautiful the attention to detail with the hair texture and facial features is amazing.

The outfit is very well done as is the newspaper accessory. Love this so much. Thank you for adding a new tradition for my family.

this doll is beautifully detailed from her flowing floral dress to elegant hat. Behind her the additional feature of the American flag reminds us not only is she a beautiful barbie but also representative of an intelligent woman that served her country as first lady.

It is really a collectors doll but I’m sure young girls and boys can learn valuable lessons from her as a playmate.

I know Legos are traditionally for kids, but my daughter really wanted this set for her 21st birthday because she interned this summer at the International Women’s Air and Space Museum in Cleveland, OH.

She learned so much about these ladies and was excited to find this set available. Now they’re proudly on display! Plus, assembling this kit gave her a much-needed study break.

Sure, I have a daughter and wanted to shower her with Lego since she was just a fetus. These sets (like Research Institute before it) are whatever from a diversity perspective, but let it be known that this set is fun to build and very cool.

To be honest, I’m not familiar with any evidence-based reports that these kinds of sets inspired girls to go into sciences, but kids and Lego go together like two flat Lego pieces stacked on one another – don’t need any science-based findings to know that! My son actually likes this set too, so don’t be vulnerable to thinking that this set is ONLY for girls – it’s appropriate for anyone: adults and kids alike, boys girls transgender what have you.

If you see this set for sale (at a reasonable cost), get it NOW! Sure, getting a lot of gifts for little ones at the holidays might give them a heightened sense of entitlement; but consider doing what I do: get it now, and save it for any appropriate occasion.

This is a fantastic set that pays tribute to the women of NASA. It was a lot of fun to build this set with my daughter, who is into all things Space right now after attending NASA’s Space Camp this summer.

The figures, name plates and backgrounds are all nice, unique touches. The sets turned out to be a little bugger and more detailed than anticipated. I highly recommend this while you can still get it.

As an adult collector I usually prefer my dolls to be more fashionable than inspirational/educational, so the Inspiring Women line isn’t something I would normally purchase. However, every year I notice the line keeps improving with better quality, more details and broader representation.

Maya Angelou is quite a special release in this line as she is the first to receive a brand new, dedicated face sculpt in her likeness (which I think is quite good) as opposed to the others which use existing Barbie faces that are painted to somewhat resemble the women they represent.

Even without knowing who Dr Angelo is, the doll is beautiful and the whole concept very well executed. Her own miniature copy of her book ‘I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings’ is a lovely touch. Children and adults alike can enjoy this doll, although she is less of a glorified playline doll compared with the rest of the line so far.

I was impressed when I received Barbie’s Maya Angelou doll. It lived up to my expectations. When family and friends saw the doll they were amazed and asked I didn’t know it was a Maya Angelou doll available to the market.

Luckily, I received a email message and decided to by the pre-order doll. This was definitely one of my greatest purchases from the Barbie-Mattel inspiring women series collection. Hopefully in the near future, maybe a Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation 1814 Barbie doll or a limited edition doll of iconic actress Dorothy Dandridge who played the lead in the all black cast movie CARMEN JONES.

I only have one question. Why is the Maya Angelou doll cheaper than the star wars one? So y’all are basically telling me that these inspiring women are supposed to be les important than star wars and other movies.

The inspiring Women collection deserves more value than what has been given to it. And once again I’m just saying. Maybe there is an explaination to this. Maybe y’all have a reason. Or else I really like the collection.

I know many cat ladies but this particular trio of women are especially exceptional cat ladies. I sent each one an action figure. They had been involved in cat rescue for years and years, one 20, another 30 and one for 25 years.

I thought theyd probably all gotten many from other cat lovers over the years but each one was surprised and got a real kick out if it! I was pleased this was the first time each had gotten one!.

We have 5 cats – think that qualifies us as Cat Crazy. My granddaughter loves the set and plays with it regularly. All the cats have names. Well made and good fun!!!

I bought this for a friend’s birthday. It was perfect except for the green cat. Yes, the grey striped cat was a dark pea green. We decided that was the zombie alien kitty who was going to suck the brains out of the rest.

I’m lucky my friend has a sense of humor to go along with her cat addiction.

I was very excited to get this doll for my 4 year old daughter to teach her about a historical figure as well as astronauts/space travel. My kid is obsessed with all things girly and gravitates toward the mermaid and princess Barbies, so I wasn’t sure how well this one would be received.

To my surprise, my kid was very excited to open this doll and was so happy to see she has curly hair like us. I explained who Sally Ride was and explained how she made history. We spent some time to make a rocket for the doll and played astronaut for a while.

As a science nerd, I was pretty pumped, lol. It’s been a few weeks and Sally still makes trips into space as well as plays mermaid and tea party with the other dolls. The only negative I’ve found with this one is the fact the headset is sewn into her hair and the visor on the helmet was too easy to remove/lose.

Other than that, we’ve both enjoy this doll and I’ll definitely be looking at more of the dolls of historical figures.

This doll is full of imagination and excitement! I gave this Barbie to my 8 year daughter. Even though it is a collectors doll we opened the packaging so she can play with it. The packaging is fun and has some really neat details such as the Space Shuttle in the background.

She loves how Barbie is a Astronaut and wants to learn more about Sally Ride. It has given her interests about space and she just loves the space uniform. The doll and how it is presented is beautiful and I highly recommend more dolls to be made like this.
