20 Best Toys For Schnauzers (2022 Updated)

What a wonderful cozy, soft and cuddly fun big dog came into my house one day for my 9 pound Havapoo Pepper. It really didn’t look like anything special online, even in the box as I was opening it up.

But WOW, when you take Buddy (that’s what I named him) out of the box, that first feel of him is magic. All you want to do is hug him and never let go. The you see there is a heart you can insert into Buddy and he starts being human.

The heart starts beating and he becomes real. And then, you can make him warm with a small packet and he comes to life. You hold him for a while and you suddenly forget all your problems and guess what? You fall asleep, and Pepper never gets to play with Buddy.

So, Buddy is a wonderful addition to Pepper’s toy box, if it ever gets into the toy box. But seriously, Snuggle Puppy is definitely a wonderful behavioral aid toy. I found that my hyperactive dog Pepper loved Snuggle Puppy from the minute he came into the house, well from the minute I let Pepper have him.

I saw a change in Pepper’s behavior soon after. Snuggle Puppy began to calm her down, especially at night. When you look at the price you might think it is a bit expensive but believe me it is worth every penny.

It is a great purchase.

We bought one of these just before we drove for several hours to pick up a two month old White German Shepherd Dog. She slept with it all the way home, and every night since, plus often during the day.

She is now a few days short of her 6 month birthday and this snuggle puppy is with her every night, most evenings and a lot of days. She began sleeping through the night earlier than she should have and we are convinced this snuggle puppy is the reason.

She can go through a bully stick in less than an hour or so regardless of how thick it is and this snuggle puppy looks almost brand new!!! When the batteries for the little heart start to get weak, she will bring it to us to perform a little “heart surgery”!! We leave it set on a continuous heart beat and the batteries last a couple of weeks.

Be forewarned that if it is really quiet, hearing that little heart beat is a little unnerving at first!!! LOL. This is absolutely the most wonderful gift you could give a young puppy!.

I actually bought two Snuggle Puppies – one for upstairs, and one for downstairs, before I brought home my 3 month old Yorkshire Terrier. The honest truth is that I’m not sure the heat or the beating heart made all that much difference.

It didn’t bother her, but I learned that this toy was a super favorite whether it was turned on or not. I think it has something to do with the size and comfortable plushness of the toy. The first picture I have of Charlotte was of her piled on top of one of her two litter mates.

She does the same thing with SP. She is now 7 1/2 months old and still hauls SP around with her. the other night I felt her get on top of me in the middle of the night. I groaned, but thought ok. Then there was a PLOP!, and I realized she hauled Snuggle Puppy up there with her.

I grabbed SP and put him beside me, then PLOP! he was back on top. It took about 8 tries for me to convince Charlotte she was welcome, but SP could sleep beside us. I would absolutely recommend the Snuggle Puppy to anyone coming home with a new puppy.

I’ve noticed our husky/Kelpie mix intensely watch us do things like put stuff in drawers, open & close things, so I figured I’d try one of these puzzles. Right now she’s 6 mos old and getting into everything so I felt like she’d guess the Level 1 puzzle pretty quickly so I bought the Level 2-3 one.

I didn’t fill all of the pockets at first, just the “bones” to see if she would be smart enough to move them. She only used her nose and teeth to move them, and it took her some encouragement from us but she found all 4 but she also wanted to run off and chew the bones.

I didn’t think she’d open the flip lids so I left the bones out and put treats under them. She sniffed and pushed them around, of course trying to chew on it too. But now with her third time, I filled all 20 spots (used Blue Buffalo Bites Salmon flavor – really fishy smell!) – she “solved” it in under 3 minutes.

Filled it again, solved it in about a minute. (So much for keeping her occupied for 10-15 minutes!) I really didn’t think this would work but I’m so surprised at how much it allows her to focus her otherwise crazy attention to doing this even if it’s for a brief time.

I’m probably going to have to graduate her up to the Level 4 expert level by the end of summer. I’m sure other dogs may just plop themselves down and take their time sniffing out the treats. Watch them and encourage them to find it (they will get frustrated and try to chew it & the lids do pop off so this is NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN LEAVE THEM UNSUPERVISED with – it’s a chance for you to praise them and encourage them to find the treats to keep them focused on the task).

Mix up treat flavors so they can focus on the ones they really like to smell & eat. I wouldn’t recommend putting peanut butter in it because the puzzle is not meant to be chewed on. Definitely put the puzzle out of the dogs reach when done.

This is our first puzzle toy, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have an 8 month old cavalier king charles spaniel who was recently spayed. Our trainer suggested some enrichment activities to keep her out of trouble.

Here’s what I think. PROS: * It’s fairly sturdy, though my pup isn’t rough with it. Common sense dictates that if your dog is more destructive, you should closely supervise and take it away once all the treats are found.

* Though it doesn’t state so on the box, this can be set for 3 levels of difficulty. First, you can hide treats in the holes and slide the fins over to cover them. To add a layer of difficulty, slide the pegs to lock the fins in place.

This will require the dog to slide the peg before they move the fin. Finally, add some treats to the bonus holes in the pegs. Those can only be found after the dog slides the peg away from the fin, then moves the fin, and finally slides the peg back and forth over the hole to drop and reveal the hidden treasure.

Whew! Got that? CON: * This is a level 2 puzzle. I didn’t start with a level 1 because they seemed too easy. Nonetheless, my pup quickly figured this out, even at the highest level of difficulty. She likes it, and it’s still fun for her, but I was hoping to keep her engaged for more than a few minutes.

Just received a box from Chewie today and my dog knew right away that there was some good stuff inside of it. There were treats in there but I also had the puzzles in there so she was very interested in opening the box.

Once we took the puzzle out and started filling it with kibble, she was super interested and it kept her attention while we filled it for about a full seven minutes which is how long it took her to get all of the treats out.

Then she was still interested in it for a while to make sure that she actually did get all of them. Several times she picked it up and dropped it on the ground so the treats would fall out. I was hoping that the puzzle pieces would snap in a little more sturdily into the base so that if she did pick it up she couldn’t knock the treats out.

I was very pleased at how well it held her attention. I think whenever we do it again, she might resort to just dropping it on the floor again. I’ll repost if that happens. But she’s almost 10 years old and has been pretty lethargic/bored lately.

This activity perked her right up which was very nice to see!.

My pups both love to bring something to the door when we come home and when they are excited. We struggle to keep toys for very long because both of my pups lab and shepherd mix are aggressive chewers.

This toy is perfect. It’s relatively light weight so if they drop it on my foot (which happens nearly everyday) it doesn’t hurt. The color is bright so if they leave it outside I can easily find it AND they haven’t destroyed it.

Normally toys last 20 minutes. We’ve happily had this for a few weeks so it is safe to say, it’s here to stay for a while!.

My English springer spaniel is getting into her later years. She loved to chew on and devour Nylabones. A recent vet visit told me to get something softer for her to chew on over concerns for her aging teeth.

I saw the Hurley’s, read the description, and thought I would give it a try as an alternative to the Nylabone. I bought one. Curious to know what she thought, she took one sniff of it and looked at me as if to say “what’s this thing?” After two weeks, the Hurley’s has been sitting on the floor untouched.

This toy is about as indestructible as they come. I have a 10 month old German Shepard and she destroys every toy I give her. Well she’s had this and one other of their toys for tough chewers for about a month now and neither of the toys show any sign of wear.

She goes to town on thanksgiving here toys for a few hours everyday. And nothing, no tearing, not scratches, nothing. They both look like they did the day I got them in the mail. 10/10 would recommend for any strong chewers.

I liked that this chew toy was durable and had some weight to it, but my dog doesn’t play with the toy at all. I believe this is the toy he could not “destroy” and didn’t want anything to do with it.

It did have a rubbery smell, so he might have been turned off by that, but it was a waste of money for me. I would recommend this chew stick to anyone with larger dogs that have a big bite, because I’m sure it definitely let’s them enjoy themselves more.

This chew toy is probably good for moderate chewers, but not for heavy chewers. My 60 lb. dog had teeth marks all over this toy in a matter of minutes, and it looks very unstable as if it will completely tear apart with one good tug.

I was disappointed given how expensive it is, and that I thought it had a good warranty. But if you go to the website for the return that is guaranteed, you will find that you have to pay shipping to return it, and give the company a check for $7.

50 for them to ship the new toy to you. That’s about $15 for a $22 toy. I wanted to upgrade to the Maxx toy to see if it will last longer, but the hassle doesn’t seem worth it.

Love this. Left it a couple of months to see how it lasted, no sign of our chewer even putting a mark on it! It’s his favourite toy by far and the first thing he goes to in the morning. Thoroughly recommended!.

I had gotten this toy back in October for his 1st birthday. And he loves it! I was really apprehensive about getting it because of some of the reviews. My fur baby is a heavy chewer, we’ve lost a check book, a few pairs of shoes (amongst other items) because of it, hehe.

But he hasn’t destroyed this toy like his others. And don’t give his a squeaker toy, it’ll be shredded in 5 minutes. But he has NOT shredded this toy, just to eat the squeaker! He pushes this ball (toy) around the house as he grabs and eats his kibble as he goes.

(I cut 2 “nubs” out on each side, opposite of each other). Now the spoiled pup won’t eat his kibble on a regular basis, unless it’s filled into the toy first. But I will take the 5 minutes of solitude from my high energy fur baby, as a blessing.

When there is nothing left to fall out of the ball (toy), then and only then, will he go to his food bowl. LOL.

My dog, Otis, inhales his food, causing hiccups and indigestion. We started using this toy to slow down his meals and found that it also made mealtime more fun and exciting for him. He chases the ball around and wags his tail throughout his meal–a 5-star review from Otis! It holds a cup of kibble, so it’s big enough to contain Otis’ whole meal (he eats smaller kibble which fits through the holes).

I have a smart, food obsessed, moderate chewer. He figures out slow feeders eventually, and will literally inhale his food if it’s just in a bowl. This ball slows him down and provides him with some much needed mental stimulation.

My main problem is that it is so hard to fill. I’ve tried using the cut off top of a bottle like the manufacturer suggests, but despite trying different bottle sizes, it does not fit. I can’t find a funnel that is big enough for his kibble to go through.

So I’m stuck shoving kibble into the opening with my fingers, which is time consuming when you’re talking about an entire meal. This is the only thing that has continued to work for us, and I appreciate that it is made out of a soft material, but I wish it was easier to fill.

I’d recommend this if you’re using it occasionally or for small amounts of treats, but for twice daily use to max capacity, I need something easier to fill. It is vanilla scented and tends to collect hair and lint from the floors.

I can see this being very durable. But it was not soft enough to replace the old ball I got for her that had holes and we played tug and fetch with. The old ball was more like the play young rubber balls rubber but like 4-5ply.

When you squish it with your hands it gives way easily. This one does not. My German did not like it. It was uncomfortable in her jaws… she like the bit of the other one. She did not destroy her last one.

The sun cracked it up after years outside so I’m trying to find a new one she likes.

I’m writing this review two years later to let everyone know that this toy has held up and is seriously the only toy that keeps my girl occupied for long periods of time. Just find a good treat that fits inside it and toss it to your pooch and they’ll be busy! The dog treats we’ve found to work well inside it: dream bones and the Dingo raw hide balls.

My Stumpy Tail Australian Cattle (Blue Heeler) puppy loves this toy, and especially with his jerky treats inside! It’s durable enough for this surprisingly strong chewer, too. Great product at a great price, and with extremely fast shipping.

Mine is a deep, midnight blue, but my pup doesn’t seem to mind the color difference. Happy customer all around!.

We received this today so this is not a long term review. The catch flaps inside the holes are hard to cut out – they slice through easily enough but are difficult to catch completely with scissors so I had to fiddle with it a lot and still didn’t get the flap cut completely.

I had to cut our already small training “nibbles” in half because they got stuck inside the toy. They weren’t difficult to get in but they were difficult to get out again. My little Havanese liked rolling it around and carrying it but she was frustrated when she could smell the treats but not get to them.

She cannot toss it and have the treats rattle out, especially if they get stuck inside. Cutting them helped but it is a lot of cutting, not convenient for me at all. I wanted to try this because her treat ball keeps disappearing beneath and behind things and I thought this would be easier to keep track of.

This toy is good for the price but not so great as a treat dispenser. It is very hard for even the tiniest treats to escape – my pup worked so hard with no reward & unfortunately all that happened was treats got mushy from saliva and stuck inside.

I then tried a small size biscuit just hanging out the end it broke off and the other half got stuck inside – it was extremely difficult for me to remove it. This aside the toy has great bounce and my dog can still have some fun with it.

I will not continue to try it as a treat dispenser.

I have a 6 year old daughter. When said daughter was 5, we rescued a trio of sick turkey poults. They were so rough that one didn’t even make it home, and the other passed that night. The sole surviving turkey was my 6 year old’s, who she had promptly named Busy Bee.

Busy Bee grew fast. He grew as tall as my daughter, and the were inseparable– she’d squat in the backyard, arm over his back like a human friend, and just jabber away to him. While we have chickens, the neighbors were not excited about Busy Bee singing the song of his particular people.

So we found a farm sanctuary, and we get occasional updates about him, happily living his life there. But my 6 year old, she has been devastated. So when she saw this weird turkey toy, her eyes welled up, and she informed me that she would like it.

Couldn’t say no obviously, so we brought it home. This dang turkey goes in the bath, to bed, in her backpack, EVERYWHERE, and a month in it’s still holding up. I would never have imagined myself being grateful to a toy company for making a flipping turkey, but here we are.

Parenthood is wild. But this turkey is legit. Super realistic, doesn’t make the neighbors mad, and comforts an odd 6 year old.

The details are subdued, with the tuberculate scales limited to the feet and face, and a first for any “raptor” is the presence of lips in keeping with the latest scientific research. The sculpted feathers are well done, especially on the primary-secondary wing feathers and the tail.

I do like the taloned fingers on the wings just visible under the wings. The pose can also be described as statuesque, evoking the virtues we bestow upon birds of prey. Power, speed, grace, even nobility.

The figure is frozen in step, head turned left, muzzle raised upward which I interpreted as testing the air for scent. The wings tucked tightly against the body. The tail is sculpted down providing support making the figure a classic tripod yet, it works in tandem as a whole.

Think of an actress’s long flowing gown on a red carpet event. Stately, and grateful. The colours again draws inspiration from modern raptors resembling a Hawk, chocolate and cinnamon browns with white markings.

Yellow for the face and feet and a crimson eye completes the pallet. Again, drawn from modern nature, spectacularly subdued. This figure boasts a look consistent with scientific research, and modern aesthetics.

Deinonychus is a prime figure for the dinosaur renaissance, beautifully sculpted, expertly painted, and highly collectible.

Safari Ltd adds Uintatherium to their prehistoric lineup for 2018. This early ungulate that lived during the Eocene was discovered in 1871 by O. C. Marsh in the Uinta Mountains in what is now Utah and may have been the largest mammal in the Americas during that time.

Although somewhat resembling a rhinoceros, Uintatherium anseps was not related to any rhino, being from the extinct order Dinocerata that flourished from the late Paleocene until the Miocene. The sculpt resembles classic paleoart.

The figure is represented without a fur covering opting for a wrinkled hide, from deep lines along the flanks to delicate ones on the face they crisscross the entire figure up to the tail which ends in a tuft of hair.

The details on the head include the distinctive horns, mandible flanges, and long recurved canine tusks. The pose is quite neutral, head high turned slightly to the right, mouth closed, with the left fore paw raised just ever so.

Not dramatic but natural, organic just as nature should be. The colours are consistent with modern large herbivores, pale grey with a light taupe markings. Slate grey hooves, and black for the tail tuft round out the limited hues.

Again, plausible for large grazers that persist to this day. Previous figures have been made in the 60’s and 70’s by Starlux and Ja-Ru but, forty years or so have passed since Uintatherium was released as a figure despite it being an iconic creature from the early Cenozoic and included in so many murals and classic paintings there are woefully few representations available to the collector.

Thankfully now, Uintatherium has been released by GeoWorld, Playvisions, CollectA, and now Safari Ltd. which is recommended for collectors and enthusiasts of prehistoric fauna.

Kong toys are supposed to be tough. I thought the package said it was dishwasher safe. It is not! Now the middle cups do not fit inside the ring. In addition, it would be better to have the dispensing hole adjustable.

One star because the dog loved it while it lasted. Otherwise, don’t waste your money.

Good quality, but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I couldn’t unscrew the lids of the chambers, so just shook a few treats in through the holes they are supposed to come out of, then she couldn’t get the ‘flip’ action to work.

Sorry! Next time I’m in a pet shop I’ll donate it to their charity box.

Our dog loves this toy. We put dog food in the toy and she’d rather get the food out of the toy than from her food bowl. It holds about 1/2 cup. My dog loves to chew and has not been able to chew this bowl yet.

This is our third soda pup chew bone that we’ve bought. They’re great for power chewers like Bella. These are the best chew bones that I’ve found. I feel confident that I’m giving Bella something safe for her to chew on.

I do supervise her and limit her time with it. Otherwise she’d chew it 24/7.

My dog isn’t very interested in this chew toy. It looked like it would need some encouragement like peanut butter in the grooves so we tried that. She licked off the peanut butter then left it. She hasn’t used it since.

The beige color matches our floors so is easy to step on. Now it’s up on a shelf, useless.

First of all- I tried to add photos and couldn’t anyway- the squeaky lasted almost an hour (that might be a squeaky toy record in our house) Even though at just under $20- it’s pricey for an hour… why did I give this amazing toy 5 stars… let me tell you- First off once the squeaky broke it took him another hour before I realized he popped the squeaky piece out- you know that horrifying feeling of- where is the piece did he eat it? Is he going to choke?- NO – it is made to fall inside the ball- he can not choke on it!!! Major win!!! Now, we have had this ball for almost 2 weeks- it’s still his favorite toy- he plays with it everyday- maybe the smell?? Maybe the fact he can chew and squeeze it but it doesn’t tear? Either way- he LOVES it! If I could give more then 5 stars I would!.

My dog Blu typically loves these balls. The red ones are his favorite so we got the red ones. When we received them in the mail he was so excited. But then I went to bounce the 3 balls to him right after removing them from their package.

It was disappointing because these 3 don’t bounce like the ones I’ve bought from the store and they’re the same price at the store. They only bounce a foot or two off the ground. Disappointing because he really loves these balls typically and we usually really like the product.

Before this, it’s been the best ball we’ve found for him. Trust me, we’ve tried a lot of different balls for him. Lol. If it wasn’t for them not bouncing then I would’ve given 5 stars.

A few months ago we adopted a then-fourteen month old GSD-Cattle Dog mix who has turned out to be an incredibly strong chewer. fortunately, she only chews doggie items (toys, chew sticks, etc), but she will destroy a toy within hours or finish off a chew item in minutes.

This ball is the ONLY thing she has yet to destroy. Although I do limit her time with it, she chews on it for about an hour every day while I play ball with my other puppy (she refuses to play ball, just wants to chew).

As of this writing, we have had two of these balls for close to a month and I remain very impressed with the ball’s durability. It also bounces well, too, which entertains the younger pup!.

The tree with ornaments that squeak is the BEST. Well made, crinkling sound and just plain fun! Wish we had started playing with it in November. Our two dogs along with two humans greatly enjoyed the quality, vivid.

I got this toy for my dog because it said it has a giggle stick. He’s never had a toy with that feature before so I thought it’d be nice surprise. As many others have noted, this toy does not have a giggle stick.

It’s a squeaker. Maybe the company doesn’t know what a giggle stick is? It’s still a nice toy and he loves it anyway, which is what matters. But if you’re thinking of getting it for the noise feature, skip it and get something else.

Have the dimensions on these toys changed significantly? I ordered two of these balls earlier this year and my pittie mix destroyed the smaller one in days, so we were more careful with the larger one, and it is only recently that she’s taken this one apart.

I ordered a new one — large. My bad for not drilling down into more of the description, because “large” is about the size of a softball. Worthless. I’ll be sending it back. What I was replacing was about the size of a smallish pumpkin.

Dimensions, photos with relevant dog sizes would be super helpful. That said, I also ordered a holee roller extreme, which is about the same size as this pseudo-large, but much thicker in construction.

This might keep her occupied for a while.

4-6 weeks ago I became a woman on a mission: find my girls soft toys that are durable enough for them to play with together. I came on Chewy and purchased somewhere between 10-15 different toys to put them to the test, and this fluffy fuzz ball was one of them.

Hands down, THIS was their immediate go-to out of ALL of the toys I purchased. That should have been a sign. they were seeking out the weakest link, like a family of lions choosing their prey from the herd.

It didn’t even last a full hour before a small hole developed in a seam, and it was downhill from there, as my girls proceeded to disembowel the toy and scatter the poly-fil throughout my house. I let them have their fun for a short time, and threw it away while they were outside.

I wouldn’t be able to handle their heartbroken stares and depression-induced sulking from watching me put it in the trash. They really did love it though. Maybe you guys can come if with a fluffy fuzz ball that has a more durable interior?.

These dog toys are indestructible. I am on my fourth purchase only because my Golden has slobbered on them so much, even though I do wash them in the washing machine, I don’t like to touch them. The fur gets matted and I have to brush them like I brush him.

He has never destuffed them. Their tough!!! He has two right now that he plays with. When I gave him the new one, I gave him a choice, (old or new). He took the new LOL. Now he picks the first one he sees.

I would recommend the large size for any big dog. If more than one size is offered, they would be great for any dog that likes to chew or play keep away. By the way, they are also great to throw because they are soft, and if you are not a great aim, they are soft enough and may minimize damage.

I picked up both the ring and the ball in large for my two labradoodle rescue mixes. These guys tear into toys and when they saw these, the fun was on! They are super durable and the hair is short and tight, which is good for dogs that pull at hairy toys with their teeth.

This is an interactive toy for my guys, because left alone, they would eventually find a way to destroy it. This one (ball) is deep and plush and the squeaker is hard for them to get at, but they don’t really care as they love chasing it.

The Ring is just as large and has multiple squeakers inside that they loved and again, chasing it was their most enjoyable part. Only one downside and this applies to all toys: Still can’t understand why manufacturers haven’t figured out that by putting multiple tags and plastic ties into toys for dogs, or even cats, is just a waste, as the owners only have to spend time cutting all those out and off so the pet doesn’t choke on them.

Maybe some day they will figure out this is not designer clothing they are making!.

What great toys! I have 2 destructive dogs, and these toys are really doing the trick! My older dog likes to tease the puppy with them, so they begin to play tug-of-war! The toys have held up and what a great price!.

One of my dogs loves squeaky toys; 2 of them love crinkles. Wish there were more crinkle only toys. These are definitely durable, unless the big Husky gets them!

I have three dogs and they love them! One is a 60 lb Bully that is a chewer and these have lasted a few weeks so far! He generally has toys demolished in days. Great buy!

2 weeks and he’s still playing with it regularly. He will sometimes pick it up with his mouth and shake it to get the toys out. Other times he will turn it upside down and do a kind of digging motion on it.

Even with how rough he plays, after 2 weeks it has help up magnificently! We are very happy with this toy. Definitely worth a try!.

I needed a few more dollars to get free shipping so I added this toy in my cart without much thought or reading reviews. It is adorable! Ginger liked it immediately. The chicken legs come out very easily which is a plus.

If Ginger has to yank and tug it out, she won’t. She likes all aspect of the toy, the squeaky chicken legs are fun on their own and she enjoyed digging out her breakfast kibble when placed in the waffle.

First off, this is such a clever toy. This favorite brunch item will now be served for breakfast, lunch and dinner for my pups. Now, I have these pieces of chicken for them to go crazy for while I keep my brunch Sunday’s still going strong despite staying home. There are 3 chicken wings and each one has a squeaker. The best part is that since they’re a darker color, they won’t look as dirty as they will soon be from being slobbered on.

I have the black version of this Schnauzer. I got him from the farm world advent calendar 2020, (almost a year ago), and I love him! His name is Charkie, and he is one of the leader of team doggo, is my sister and my game.

I bought this Schleich Miniature Schnauzer for my grandson, which looks just like his real one. My grandson is going to love it, and I know it will last through a lifetime of play, along with the Schleich horses and stable that he and his sister already have.

Super cute. Good quality. It has a little weight to it which makes it feel solid. Highly recommend this toy as an Iso Puppy substitute. Our 4 year old takes this little guy everywhere. He loves when he finds a real dog just like it.
