20 Best Tracfone Flip Phones (2022 Updated)

Being somewhat challenged where technology is concerned I had an ‘Orange Rio’ for a long time before it gave up! Unable to replace it I was persuaded to ‘upgrade’ and had a touchscreen phone that was supposed to be idiot-proof and simple to use.

The battery life was dreadful as it had so many apps that were never used but had to be there etc. I had dreadful trouble working the ‘swipe this way’ ‘swipe that way’ instructions that it was more trouble than it was worth.

I needed a basic phone to call, text and with a camera for use in emergencies – I don’t want or need one that cooks the supper and tells me the weather in Honolulu! This phone is perfect – straightforward to use – does what I want it to do with no frills!.

This is a nifty little feature phone. It was clean and unmarked when it arrived; I just inserted the BT SIM card and was able to start using it. The only down side is that the Nokia web sites for updates and software has long gone, so I can only use it ex-factory.

Bu tit suits my purpose, which is to make and answer phone calls without butt-dialling out – the clamshell configuration closes over the keyboard when not in use. It’s a great little phone.

Just bought the phone, been using it for a few days. There’s no real issues I personally have, but understand that you MUST go into buying gimmicks knowing that you MUST make concessions. This phone will not have the best screen, or be the strongest processor or durability wise, and its camera is years behind the quality of cameras on phones nowadays.

But what you’re getting is something different than just a regular phone. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability.

I own a professional camera, so I don’t care that this phone camera is the equivalent of something top of the line in 2018. I take good care of my phones, plus never (accidentally) drop them, so the fact that the hinge can theoretically be snapped in half is less of an issue for me.

The downsides FOR ME, are unimportant, so I prefer to use something fun compared to the “old reliable”. Products like the flip and fold phones show me that big corporations can actually create new and interesting tech instead of regurgitating the same product over and over again.

Even though Samsung is guilty with this as well, they have always been ahead of the competition when it comes to making interesting gimmicky side projects like the note line of phones, and edge line.

They eventually took X gimmick or idea, iterated on it, and released a better, more refined version. Case in point, the flip 4 is the first phone in this line that is really competitive with the competition.

For me, the product is around an 80 to 90/100 and I can’t ask for anything better for the price point and the tech out at the moment (thank you guys who used the flip 1 to 3 for beta testing the design), but for some people, the gimmick isn’t useful or fun enough for the price asked, and they might give it more of a 3 star review.

If you have the expectation that this phone should be better than the tried and true flat phones out there that has been done for more than a decade now, please don’t do that. Be pleasantly surprised for a quirky, slightly flawed product that comes so close to the current best phones on the market.

But remember, those phones don’t flip. This review is coming from a guy who bought the lavender color, 128 gb model, and I’ve been using the Samsung S 10 before this, the S 7 edge before that, the Note 4 before that, the IPhone 4S before that (cough cough), and a flip phone before that.

I’ve come full circle.

I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) phone to a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 5G. The principal reason was to be able to make phone calls when on 4G only sites, for which VoLTE support is required. Having 5G was also wanted for future proofing.

So far VoLTE and 5G are showing up on the Skinny (Spark) network, and I will have to wait for Skinny/Spark to enable VoWiFi for the Flip 4 before I can try that – it should work. It was a major requirement for me that the phone still fit in my pocket in a way that did not interfere with push biking, and the Flip 4 was pretty much the only choice that I could find that is for sale in NZ and was not a parallel import.

It works well for that, but I am having to get used to flipping it open to use it, which is a little less convenient than with the A3. So far, I have rooted it successfully with Magisk and copied all my data and apps over using Smart Switch.

The only thing that I have found so far that does not work while rooted is Google Wallet, and with a little more work it is possible that I may be able to get that working too, but I am not worried about that as I never used it (as Google Pay) on my old phone.

I also had a problem where most of my contacts had been moved out of their specified groups to “Not assigned”. I had to spend some time going through them all and putting them back in the appropriate group, which was annoying.

I suspect a bug in Smart Switch was responsible for that. The hinge location can be visible in the middle of the main screen and when you do notice it, it is a little annoying. But mostly I do not notice it.

The Flip 4 is very fast compared to the A3 and I am greatly enjoying that. One annoying thing is that on certain apps, such as Clock, the fonts used are too large and there are unnecessary gaps between the alarm clock entries, resulting fewer showing at once compared to the A3, despite a much taller screen.

I am hoping to find a fix for that. Once rooted, the DHCPv6 app works well, and I get DHCPv6 assigned IPv6 addresses when on my home WiFi, making it much easier to manage my network – I can assign it a DNS name on my home DNS servers.

Overall I am very pleased so far, but it is only a week or so since I got it rooted and I have many more things to try out yet.

All these top-tier phones do all the same things quite excellently and this phone is no exception except for the lack of a telephoto lens, which may be a good thing if it helps not make the otherwise streamlined phone look like it growing several barnacles sticking out like the iPhone.

This phone of course adds the flip feature which appears to be perfectly implemented. The funny thing is, now that phones can do so many different things, Samsung completely dropped the ball with the most basic service, which is the Phone and Voicemail apps.

My previous two phones had the phone and voicemail integrated, transcribed my emails, and had many other features that are lacking in this phone. One would think that the new phone would be better, but no.

The phone and voicemail apps are two totally separate apps, so you can’t for instance, block a number after checking a voicemail without remembering the number and manually searching for that number in the other app.

If you want transcribed messages, Samsung has a weird workaround where you can have voicemails sent to the messaging app. So now we are involving three different apps in what used to be done in one. And to add insult to injury, I downloaded the Google app from the play store that does all these things well only to find that the voicemail feature is disabled when installed on a Samsung phone.

I guess just to force users to use Samsung’s convoluted apps whether they want to or not. This poor software implementation is almost a dealbreaker and part of me wants to send this phone back despite the fact that it is wonderful in every other way.

First things first, the main reason I got this phone was because it flipped open. It’s still really cool after having it for a couple of months (The dent in the middle of the main screen is going to be obvious when the light is hitting it a certain way, but when you’re holding it you’re not going to see it and if you do it’s not really noticeable but if you’re picky about stuff like that then this probably isn’t the best phone for you).

It also have face ID, fingerprint ID, and a password/pin/pattern option so the security is nice. And as someone who switched from an iPhone, this phone was relatively easy to set up and customize it to exactly what I wanted.

I do still believe that the outer screen is very purposeful, seeing as I usually open my phone to take pictures or to change a song, but if you’re someone who goes on their phone a lot- turning it on and off a lot- then this phone might get a tad bit annoying.

Also it’s difficult to open it with just one hand (it’s not impossible, just more difficultly than a phone should require) it will require two hands and it can get a little annoying. I also really love the fact that it can sit up while folded up, it’s most useful when I’m watching a video, using the calculator, or on a video call.

Now as for the things I didn’t like about it: 1. The battery life- it is god awful. Luckily I’m already someone who carries a portable charger and a laptop with them most of the time outside of my house so I’m able to plug it and I’m fine but at certain times- like going out for the night or going to work for a few hours- this phone will most likely die, or at the very best less than 20%, before you even get back home ESPECIALLY if you use your phone often.

2. Every filter on Tik Tok and some filters on other social media (Snapchat, Instagram, etc. ) don’t work at all so if you’re someone who likes to hop on trends that require the use of a filter this phone isn’t for you.

3. I’m not sure if this is just me but there are apps that won’t send me notifications. It’s a bit annoying because I have to remember to check the app myself to see if I’ve received any messages but again I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s just my phone.

I’ve tried installing and uninstalling the apps, restarting my phone etc. but I thought I’d still put it here in case anyone else had the same problem. 4. Like I stated in the first paragraph, it’s a real hassle to open up the phone with one hand and it might sound like I’m being nit-picky but it’s just something I’ve grown tired of on this phone.

5. This phone is beyond FRAGILE. I’m not someone that drops their phone and I even dedicated a little baggie to it that I regularly clean since it doesn’t have dust-resistance (so your pockets aren’t the best place to have this phone).

The main screen of the phone is made of plastic (which gives it more ease to fold without cracking in the middle) and because of this soft plastic it dents at the smallest amount of pressure. So if you’re someone with nails this isn’t the best phone for you and if you’re someone who likes having their phone in their pocket (or just anywhere that can have dust, crumbs, etc) then the little pieces of dust, rocks, etc.

will end up also leaving dents in the screen. Of course they’re not noticeable but when the phone is turned off you can see every little dent. I’m nit-picky about it because I like to have a clean phone.

All in all, I was very excited to hear Samsung had updated some of the features on the Z Flip and this flip phone concept is super awesome but they just have a few more kinks to work out and then this phone will be perfect!.

Foldables have captured my attention ever since their introduction in 2019. I was eagerly waiting for the day that they were actually viable for everyday use. Enter the Flip3. The price dropped, it’s more durable, waterproof, and has a better cover screen.

I knew I had to have it. I was currently enjoying my S21 coming from an iPhone, and the transition to Android was flawless, so I decided to get the Flip. Let’s start with cosmetics. It looks amazing.

Samsung really improved the looks from the previous Flip, which looked like a boring monolith. The cover screen is a lot better too, and I find myself using it a lot more than I thought I would. It feels great in the hand, and the display doesn’t feel much different from my S21.

Obviously, since the phone folds, it now fits in a lot more places, like shirt pockets, holsters, and smaller pockets in general. There is also the cool factor. When people see you bend and unbend what looks like a small wallet into a smartphone, you get some questions.

Overall, it’s a great looking phone. But looks aren’t everything, so let’s talk about this phone’s performance. There’s a lot to cover, so I’ll do a pros/cons section here. Pros: Chip, main and cover displays, speakers The golden parts of the performance start with the chip.

This phone has a Snapdragon 888, same as the S21 series. This means that this phone is packing an awesome chip. The main and cover displays are also a strong area of the phone, and also a great improvement over the last Flip.

You can actually do stuff on the cover screen now (crazy, I know!), and the main display is now almost the same as the S21 display, with the only difference being its size, aspect ratio, and having 1200 nits peak brightness instead of 1300 nits.

Lastly, the speakers are good too. They get loud and sound great, again, a huge improvement over the mono speaker of the previous Flip. Neutrals: Camera, durability, charging Next, the things that aren’t good, but aren’t bad either.

The cameras are alright. There’s nothing wrong with them at all, they take good photos. They are just old. They are similar to the cameras on the original Flip, which uses the cameras of the S10e, so these cameras aren’t new, but they take good photos, so I won’t complain too much about them.

Next, durability. For the first time in Z Flip history, the durability is neutral instead of terrible! Hooray Samsung! This phone is waterproof, but it’s not rated against dust, which is a huge step forward.

Previous Flips shouldn’t go anywhere near water. The display and main body is also much more resilient, leading to these breaking less than the previous Flip. Lastly, the charging is, well, fine. 15W isn’t fast, but at least it’s not 5W or 10W.

15W is totally tolerable in 2022. Cons: Battery, aspect ratio The worst part about this phone is the battery. It’s not bad, it can get you through a full day, but it’s just mediocre for a 6. 7″ $1000 phone.

You’d think that if a 6. 2″ compact phone can have 4000 MAH, then a 6. 7″ can have at least that as well. They did have to make the phone thinner though, as well as accommodating the hinge, but even 3500 MAh would have made the phone so much better.

Next, the aspect ratio. Why is the phone so darn tall?! This makes apps very strange sometimes. Most apps are fine on this phone, but many aren’t. You have to go into display settings to force it to use full screen, which should just happen automatically.

Actually, it shouldn’t happen at all, the phone should just be shorter! Now, I’d like to talk about the biggest benefit of having a Flip style smartphone. First of all, especially if you have a Galaxy watch paired with it, you slowly learn how to use the phone less.

With a regular phone, that beautiful Full HD 120HZ LTPO OLED display is staring at you, and if it’s not, the triple camera setup is. You can practically hear the phone telling you to spend 2 hours scrolling.

This doesn’t happen on the Flip. Opening the phone is now a more conscious decision, so it doesn’t just happen anymore. This means you can now look at your notifications, or think about the task you were going to do, and judge if it really needs attention.

This leads to not being absorbed into your phone as much, and I found myself being much less attached to it, and more connected to reality. This, in my opinion, is the best part of having a Flip.

Would have given this phone six stars if that were an option. The last time I’d bought a premium phone was 15 years ago – a Moto Razr. After the iPhone was introduced – the death knell sounded for smart flip-phones in the US.

Over that period, had replaced the post-Razr LG flip-phone once (NOS from eBay), and the battery three times. It wasn’t that the battery had failed – just that it wasn’t holding a charge as long. Further, the back just slid off, to access the battery slot – no glue that needed to be melted.

In any case, was skeptical of the Z flip/fold screens from the outset – and put off by the high price. But became a believer in the foldable-screen technology, after playing with the BB display models during several visits – though I’d have been OK with two half-screens at half the $.

This week, my carrier and BB dropped the price significantly, so I bought one. The features I really like: > I don’t need a case, and it fits in my pocket – just like the Razr or LG phones > (the sixth star) Prop it up in flex mode on the desktop, and it’s like a mini-laptop.

Aside from the awkward form factor of flat-phones, never could thumb the way 99% of folks seem able to naturally do. On the desktop, though, using two index fingers, can type almost as fast as when on a full-size keyboard using all fingers/thumbs, because of the small reach.

And the flex angle is – well – completely flexible. Not just one open position > I can still use my favorite (wired) headset, using a pigtail with USB-C and 3. 5 mm connections. There’s a small delay compared to direct analog, but nowhere near as long as a typical Bluetooth delay To net, probably paying a ~$300 premium for being able to fold an S21 (my smarter half upgrades their Galaxy, every third generation – now a S21).

Finally, a shout-out to the consistently knowledgeable/ helpful BB staff, across all sales and service roles.

Well, I have only had this phone for about a day, and I only bought it because I have had one of those LG320G cell phones for quite a while, in the SafeLink program, and they sent me an e-mail telling me that the LG441G was on sale at Walmart, for less than 5 dollars, so I bought one, and then transferred my number to the new phone from the old one, using the TracPhone website without human help.

It is kind of early to write a review, but I am writing this one because of people saying things like, that the phone’s ringer wasn’t very loud, plus that the battery pack had died within about a month or so, and also that they tried to get help in removing the Balance and Service Date announcements from the display, etc.

Well, it is too early to talk about how long the battery lasts, but I can address the other issues. First of all, the ringer is very loud, and I only use a volume setting of 3 or 4, and is controllable with the buttons on the Left side of the phone, but of course, if you change the volume level, I think in order to keep that volume, you need to press the OK button to save the setting, otherwise it will revert to the old one I think.

I went through the ring tones and chose the number 12 option, the one that says something like, “Vintage Phone,” and it is very loud, but of course, if you are carrying the phone, and do not want to have it ring while in an office for example, like waiting for an appointment, you can of course place it in the Vibrate mode.

As far as the number of minutes and days left goes, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want that, as that’s one thing I like about the phone, unless you know that you will never use the minutes up, and/or unless you have an auto-pay plan , and don’t need to worry about those sorts of things.

I had a phone by “Virgin Mobile,” and that was one thing I hated about the phone, no balance or date display, and in order to get that info, I would have to call a number, using minutes to see how many I had left, so I used the phone through one month and stopped using it.

However, and this is the main reason why I am writing this review, and that is to tell you what to do, to get rid of the balance and Service End Date from the display. However, I do not know whether the person who wrote that review will see this or not, but I hope that the person will see it, but this is what you can do.

Press the Menu button, Press OK on the PrePaid option, go to the number 5 choice, where it shows Airtime Display pressing either 5 or on OK after scrolling down to the number 5 choice, then choose the number 1 choice where it shows Balance, by pressing Select, then choose Off, and save that by pressing Select, then choose the number 2 option, by clicking on the number 2, or by pressing Select after moving down to choice number 2, where it shows Due Date – Off, then press Select, then you can do what you want after that, like choosing the Back button or key, or by pressing the End button, you’ll get back to the display, where you should no longer see those two things.

Hope that helps someone and have a great day. The only thing that I am thinking about doing is maybe putting some music on it but that’s not important to me. Anyway, I like it overall so far, as it has a bigger display than the old LG320G that I had been using and that was not a flip phone either.

I also have a LG420G, flip phone, but the display was still small on it, and so far I really like the new LG441G that I picked up yesterday. Again have a great day, Bernie.

I was looking for a cheap trac phone. I was downsizing from my Samsung S4 because I got tired of ads, notifications, updating, doing security checks, swiping, battery draining, and the screen just kept touching apps when I had it in my pocket.

I just need a phone for I am in college and I use it to call or for emergencies. 75. 00 from T-mobile 1 isn’t bad. I just can’t afford it right now due to other bills and trying to save up to get my own place.

Spending ridiculous amounts of money for a touch screen phone is nuts. I have lost interest in touch screen phones trying to memorize passwords and worry about hackers and trying to steal wi-fi. I am going back retro and this is an awesome phone to have to buy minutes when I need them and text when I need to.

I don’t need to waste unnecessary money on computerized technology when I have a tablet and a computer for college. Thank you. I do recommend other people to buy from you. You keep your word, honest, and prices are good.

Great little phone. Screen is very bright and readable. The camera is more than adequate and the menu selections easy and logical. The double minutes will get me more time than I can use. I bought this phone to replace my LG Ultimate 2 smart phone.

I like the flip phone and don’t need all the time wasting stuff that the smart phone brings. Easy transfer of phone number and service from Tracfone to the new phone. I don’t need to be careful about having a pocket full of change or keys as the flip phone screen is always protected.

No butt dialing ever. And getting a year of service for $99. 00 and more minutes than I can use from tracfone. That’s about $8. 30 a month for cell phone service. Can’t beat that.

It is not a bad flip phone for the price. Just takes awhile to figure out how to use it. The size is larger than some of the other ones, but if you want a flip phone & have patience this could be the one for you.

Tracfone, however is another story. I spent hours & hours on the phone with their customer service reps trying to solve the issue with transferring an existing # to this phone.

This flip phone is great for the low, low price. I’m appreciating its light weight and small size. It’s handy for voice calls and usable for occasional texting. Of course, you don’t want to compare it to a smart phone, but, if you’re like me and conduct your life mainly on a desktop or laptop, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with it.

Sound quality is OK. Camera is OK. Calls drop occasionally but not regularly. Don’t expect it to do much more than call and text, but if that’s all you need it for then it’s fine. One annoying thing is you have to pay to receive a text message before you know who the message is from.

I don’t know if that’s for all Tracfones or just this style with how messages are displayed. After 1. 5 years of using the phone a couple times a day, the battery doesn’t hold a charge for longer than a day.

At first, the battery was great and I could go 5-6 days without charging it. Now I have to charge it once a day. After an hour on the phone with 3 different customer service reps, I was informed that they do not offer any sort of battery replacement for the phone.

Overall, it is a solid “OK” which is basically what I would expect for a $20 phone.

This is the perfect phone for those who just want to make & receive calls, as well as retrieve voicemail. This is all we actually wanted in a cell phone because it’s simple & easy to use. It does have other features, but we do not use or need them.

Tried a “smart” phone for more than a year & found it too complicated when all I wanted are a few basic features. The size is nice as well. Had zero difficulty entering contacts, choosing ring tone & volume, etc.

I recommend this phone for anyone who just needs a phone for what they were intended to do in the first place.

I’ve had this phone for a year and haven’t had any issues with it. The coverage is great. I’ve never had a dropped call with this phone. Tracfone uses AT&T towers for this model. Voice clarity and sharpness is great, especially if you turn on the senior mode and earphone mode! Loudness is excellent.

The speakerphone is wonderful. I’m really sorry to read that some people are having problems with this phone.

Only inexpensive Android flip smartphone available. No butt calls. Bigger than your average flip phone but not as big as the smart candy bar type. Remember to charge it at night and you’ll have no problem with battery life.

4GB internal memory limits the number and size of the apps you can have on it. A micro memory card, which it accommodates, doesn’t take apps. Good call quality. Ring tone can be set to quite loud. Would be difficult to use if you have big fingers because of the small screen.

I tried a stylus but couldn’t get it to work. Also, poor reading eyesight would make it difficult to use. Tracfone minutes, texts and date are cumulative and the refill costs are cheap. I used to have 2 phones, smart and feature.

Now I need only one.

Love it! Does everything I want it to do. Easy to call out. Easy to program. Battery last a long time. Touch screen is nice. Keypad, or touch screen are interchangeable for accessing information. Folds up nicely, and that protects the screen as well.

Turns on quickly, and shuts off quickly as well. Great phone.

i am still in the learning mode. This is my first experience with a smart phone. I like the idea of having a flip-phone and smart phone combination. The soft case allows for issues such as beeps or sounds with movement such as walking, sitting or bending.

In order to prevent the sounds, I have to turn the volume down to vibrate. When I tied my shoe, it dialed my house phone until I entered the locking code. I have looked for a case for this phone, but there is none available and I do not want to wear it on my belt.

About four months ago, I bought this phone for my mother, and switched her to Tracfone’s SVC-their senior plan. This move, surprisingly enough, had nothing to do with financial motives! She could probably afford an iphone and an expensive plan to go with it, without breaking too much of a sweat.

Well, to cut a long story slightly shorter, my mother(just 67 yrs old) drives me crazy when it comes to cell phones. She will buy one, use it for a couple of weeks (sometimes even just 1 week) and then have a handful of issues about the phone; it’s text is too small, it’s charging her incorrectly, she has to buy too many minutes, the buttons aren’t in the same place and don’t make sense.

any number of excuses to go out and change it. And each time it becomes my problem too! When I say she has a drawer with about 6 phones in it, I’m not exaggerating! So when I heard about this phone and plan, and it’s utter simplicity and user-friendly interface, I decided that this time, I choose.

I can’t tell you too much about any of the features, but what I can say, is for the first time in years, she hasn’t asked to change phones or service providers. And she’s stuck with it for almost 4 months now.

a new record! 🙂 Her being happy with the package means more to me than any single feature. The only things I know about the phone is the large on screen text, and the menu seems to be easy to follow.

I also know it’s a pleasure not having to deal with any bills, and with the small amount she uses her phone, she can pick small minute bundles. There are no more complaints about dropped calls, and best of all, I’m starting to remember her phone number! Tracfone has my vote for making my mother, and thereby me, content.

This is the phone also known for being Tracfone’s Senior Value Cellphone. As more seniors are discovering the convenience of cellphones, and specifically prepaid options, so providers are starting to cater to their specific needs.

One of my mom’s friends have this SVC, and so my mom decided she should have one too! She asked me to look into it, and it seemed perfect for her needs, so I purchased it for her. She’s been using it for 2-3 months now, and I’m amazed at how quickly she’s got the hang of it.

I’ve checked it out and I can understand why. The font is large, the screen bright and the sound clarity good. It’s quite a compact flip phone, so she can easily keep it on her. There are light up icons on the outside of the phone to let you know when you’ve got a message or missed call, which I think is nice for practical purposes, though I think she just likes it for the gizmo effect!;) It has 911 location assist, but what probably sets it apart for seniors, is the easy navigation menu- couldn’t be simpler.

Of course the other benefit is that it’s a Tracfone, so rates are as low as $7 (though with her growing confidence with the phone, I don’t see it staying that low). No contract is needed and there is no bill to deal with.

I can also easily keep tabs on how many minutes she has left, as it is displayed onscreen. This has been a valuable choice and I would recommend it to others looking for a simple, reliable and budget friendly option.

So I finally conceded to our children that it might be a very good thing to get a cell phone. Seeing that they were the ones trying to do the convincing, I thought it right that they get the phone for us as well.

Seeing that I don’t really harbor any interest in the things anyway. So they got us this phone that is apparently designed for the elderly. I suspect this is because of the big buttons, the voice enhancement, and the easy menu.

Pretty simple and basic. We’ve used the phone for a couple of months now, and it seems to be doing it’s job just fine. The biggest issue I have with it is recharging the batteries. Not because the battery life is short, it’s actually very long as far as I’m concerned.

But because I tend to forget about it. That’s just me though. And saying that the phone needs to stay in the glove compartment for emergencies, doesn’t work for me in this instant. Because yes, I forget about it, and when the emergency may arise, the phone is as dead as a door nail.

My initial worry was not so much about the phone, but more about the tracfone aspect of it. I have a friend who says he’s had endless amount of troubles from the company. Everything from buying airtime, to getting a phone that was by default not working.

Personally the whole recharging thing intimidated me a bit. But now, a couple of months later, after not having had any problems, or hiccups, I can say that I’m very relieved. In fact, it’s been very good.

After seeing the first few renditions of this model i was always super intrigued as i have always loved samsung and the idea of having an all in one phone and essentially mini-tablet all in one workstation that now after using i also know you can use as a portable COMPUTER as long as you have a smart tv to connect to or a hdmi adapter for your phone.

I switched from a iPhone 12 Pro Max after using it for about 2 years and this phone is a night and day difference once you get it set up. Extremely intuitive, customizable, and overall a very smooth experience.

The multitasking feature is incredible, and although i also know that the task bar is simply a OS update and will come to the previous 3 as well, the multiple other revisions made this the no brainer to take the leap.

I also got the s pen case with pen, and for me this isna must-have. I have done everything from writing personal notes, to doodling/sketching, to literally being able to edit photos due to the larger intuitive folding display.

Not to mention the features like when youre fullscreen on youtube and half-fold th3 phone it turns it into a splitscreen youtube experience keeping the videos always at the top while you can scroll recommended.

Potential cons are compared to competitors i am a power user and grt battery anxiety as i am used to charging cases. That being said, with the right chargers, no matter where you are this phone will get to full leaps and bounds quicker than even my old iPhone managed.

Also appreciate the microsoft connectivity to windows which i missed since i made the worst decision of my life and got rid of my note 10+ for an iphone simply due to a little lag and battery life. At the end of the day, its fast charging is incredible, S pen feels great, crease is expected and hardly noticible, or an issue, folding screen feels well integrated, just as has been proven time and time again please be gentle with the inner display as the protector for the folding glass has a relatively poor scratch rating being that it needs to be able to fold.

Again, i did my research and know my risks and where to look out for it. All in all, i think this is a great phone and intend to use it for years. I also believe the hardware is beefy enough to stand the test of time.

That being said depending how crazy samsung gets with improvements in the following versions i might bite the bullet and upgrade to a newer fold rwhen the time is right. Ill likely have paid it off by then, though.

I love this phone and would ABSOLUTELY recommend it to those who just feel like their phones done give them enough. If the deal is there. Also if they ever made the phone more tablet shaped in terms of compatibility with certain gains.

Though im sure by the time they did i assume developers will begin integrating better support for these devices because although theyre not a new thing, they are definitely an emerging option in the phone space.

I took a gamble and ended up getting a Galaxy Z Fold 3 because essentially at the time of upgrade there was no new Note to purchase. It (s22 ultra) was 2 months away, but there was no guarantee if it would launch or what it would look like and I didn’t want a Google Pixel phone, iPhone, s21 or old Note 20 (It also didn’t help that I was intrigued by it since it launched last summer).

So essentially Samsung’s trick of trying to get Note users to be adopters of Fold, worked on me. The Fold has quite a few things to like: if you enjoy gaming and the game is optimised for use on the Fold, it can be an enjoyable, immersive experience.

It’s great for multitasking e. g. watching a video or reading and taking notes. It still has a wow factor as people aren’t used to seeing phones that can open up to a larger screen, plus it’s a stylish looking phone.

Notwithstanding, battery life is poor, which I’m kind of used to, as I own the standard Note 10, but with a phone that’s marketed as being for power users, I was hoping for slightly better performance (I have to have power saving mode on most days to get to the end without a charge).

Having owned the standard Note 10, I was hoping for a better camera selection, but I would say that images are only marginally better than what my old phone could do. The main killer for me is the size/weight, it’s heavy, really heavy, my wrists have started to hurt and I fear I’m getting repetitive strain injury from carrying the load.

It”s an awkward shape and not easy to put in pockets, plus the outside screen makes texting a challenge, even if swiping one handed, and when using the inside screen for texting, I find it too large to text comfortably unless using it like a laptop, (lay flat on the table).

Also right now I’m mainly at home, so I dread to think how comfortable it would be to use if I was actually out and about all day. If I was going to go out for the night I’d probably have to take a different phone as this would take too much space, and definitely wouldn’t fit in a small hand bag (The Flip would though).

If I was doing long train commutes for work, I think I would find this phone more handy than a standard candy bar phone, but I’m yet to test that use case. It didn’t come with the separate S pen, but I was able to claim it along with the case and 25w charger, which in my opinion should have come as standard anyway, based on how high the RRP is.

The S pen experience isn’t a match to what it is on a Note. It’s great that’s there’s more screen space to work with, but I actually find the pen a bit of an uncomfortable size, sometimes it feels too long and of course the main bug bear is that it’s not housed in the phone, and add in that it can’t be used on the front screen (there is a bit of a hack to write on the front screen, but you still can’t use the pen to do it) and it doesn’t include all the air actions.

Re the battery, it’s seems to take a longer while to charge than my old Note. Probably because it only has a 4300 mAh battery, which is rather small considering what it has to power, but having a bigger battery would also make the phone heavier, which I wouldn’t welcome.

In regards to customisation, the case selection for this phone is poor, there aren’t many options, it’s sister phone – z flip has way more, but probably because it is closer to the standard candy bar form factor.

I’ve tried a few cases and they either add additional bulk, or do not offer enough protection, i. e the hinge is exposed. Lots of people bad mouthed S pen case, and by no means is it perfect, but in the end I’ve found it more useful as it gives me something more to grip on to when the phone is open, especially if I have the pen holder on it still.

It could do with some magnets to keep the flap down, and it’s a bit annoying that there’s extra material when it’s open, but it’s not too bad. One of the other big drawbacks is having to constantly worry about the inner display and the responsibility of maintaining it.

The phone is water resistant, but not dust and it is rather prone to finger smudges, and lint build up around the screen protector on the inner display, which once again is disappointing. The crease sometimes gets in the way, but most of the time I don’t notice it.

It’s more noticeable on the Flip because it’s horizontal and you’re more likely to have to move your hand over it when tapping on the certain areas of the screen. One thing is that having the big screen can be a drawback, because it highlights how grainy certain images are or games that look fab on a normal phone, might not look as polished on the Fold because you can see more details and it’s clear that the image isnt a good as you thought (e.

g on PES the football players have less definition on the Fold). Re specs – it’s 5g, 120hz (which I rarely get to experience because it’s always in power saving mode), 888 Snapdragon, updated to Android 12, it’s 271g (which by now, you know I hate), and it should be water resistant for up to 30 mins.

I really really want to love this phone, but right now, the best I could say is that I like its potential and hate it’s ergonomics. I kind of somewhat feel like a tester, and that I’m not getting the full end user experience.

It’s like it’s in the UAT or pre production stage. It’s enjoyable testing new features, but not when I have to pay such a hefty cost to do so, and I just want it to enhance my life not make it more difficult.

I’m torn because I do like a lot of things about the phone, for instance I’m not sure I can go back to a small screen, but ultimately it would be cheaper and easier to have a good flagship phone, i. e.

S22 and a seperate tablet (as I don’t currently have one). I’ve only had it for a month, so I’m going to persevere and hope that the wrist pain settles instead of deteriorating, so that I can make the most out of what the phone has to offer and it’s concept.

Going forward if some of the gripes mentioned above are dealt with, I’d have a better user experience, hopefully by the time I’m due for a next upgrade, all my requirements will be met.

Excellent build, crystal clear audio, fantastic keys and multi-day battery life! Ordered and was delivered as stated (like new, but without original box or accessories). Still saved a good $60 off retail MSRP.

I was able to install a few. apk (apps) such as Telegram, Google Maps, and MyRadar and that was all I needed, and desired. It covers the basics well, but I do miss the touch screen and speech to text capabilities my Sunbeam F1 had, but this is built so much better and I have no doubts itll last for many many years.

Speaker phone and earpiece loudness are unbelievable compared to a modern iPhone as well. And so far after charging it Friday, its Sunday and still going no problem. Id expect about 3 days easily with light to moderate use.

Camera is there, but its not winning any awards. Enough to capture your surroundings or send something in a message. Not for capturing your entire vacation, but itll do in a pinch. If you want to detox digitally, or just need a VoLTE flip phone to replace an aging 3G one, this is the one to get on Verizon, or even unlocked on other networks.

Had to purchase this because they wouldn’t let me connect a replacement convoy after losing. This is two ounces heavier and feels like a brick. Laugh if you want but the Convoy 3 was the best phone on the market for me, even 5 years ago.

This one doesn’t have a front screen or ability control the media player from the front. The speakers are on the inside not the outside. Overall the same functions are there, so why do they have to make the phone so big? Oh well, hopefully they’ll make it smaller in the future because it really is so, so heavy and big; I need a flip phone when laying tile and my screens crack with smartphones.

I don’t understand why Samsung doesn’t make another Convoy. Not happy with Verizon but have been with the company before it was Verizon back 30 years ago in the Bell Atlantic days. *Why can’t they change the music on hold is another story for a different day.

This phone was purchased to replace a 6 year old LG Revere flip phone for work. This phone is slightly larger and thicker than the Revere but the buttons and function screens are almost completely the same.

My real hang up with the phone has nothing to do with the ergonomics but with the operating system itself. My #1 pet peeve is the search function for contacts. One would think that searching for a contact would be the same as paging thru a phone book.

You would start with the first letter in the persons last name. In the case of a business, the first letter of the business name. This OS searches for the entered letter throughout the entire listing so the more information you place in the contact form, the more likely it will pop up.

This makes the process cumbersome and unnecessarily wastes time. My 2nd pet peeve is the running dialog of text messages. I can understand why some would like this but it would have been nice to be able to turn this function off.

My 3rd pet peeve is the fact that there are outer buttons on the phone that can operate functions on the phone as you grab it from the holster or pocket and while the lid is closed. My final pet peeve is that when you are finished with the phone and close the lid, the phone doesn’t reset to the start page but upon reopening you find yourself back where you left off.

While some would find this handy, the need to backtrack back out of a previous and now unwanted function is just another waste of time. To make matters worse, if your not paying attention to what your doing, you wind up sending something to the wrong person or dialing the wrong number.

Anyone reading this may think I hate this phone and I don’t. My first replacement was a Sonim XP5S, a phone I really liked for it’s size and heft but with a more complicated and disruptive OS.

First Samsung Rugby 3 lasted over 5 years of constant daily use. Very durable, EZ to use. Charge battery each night. First phone finally started to have minor connection issues between screen and keypad, so bought this replacement, same exact phone, came new in box with all accessories.

EZ to add different ring tones, can record your own ring tones. No complicated process to answer phone, just flip open and start talking. Pulled Sim card out of old phone, inserted in new phone, then transfered photos, messages, and ring tones to new phone.

Added memory stick to new phone to store more photos and other info. Would highly recommend this phone. Wife says this phone is tough, friendly to use, a great basic flip phone, Highly recommends and gives 2 thumbs UP.

Need to charge the battery several times between lite use to obtain full battery charge, after that no problems with battery charge or life.

This phone was to replace a previous Rugby 3 that spent a week under water soaking in the front pocket of muddy jeans and then went through the washing machine for a full cycle. I removed the battery and the memory and SIM cards and let it dry for 10 days; re-assembled it.

Believe it or not the phone powered up and was mostly fully functional although there is water on the screen display that won’t dry. I was able to retrieve 70+ numbers from my address book; all of this after spending 7 days under water and a full washing machine cycle.

Prior to the water incident it survived a drop of 12 feet to a concrete floor and that did not phase it. Can you say and spell TOUGH ?.

For the “dumb” phone users out there that just adamently will NOT turn to the dark side — otherwise known as purchasing a “smart” phone, this is the phone for you. This thing packs a whollop. I have never encountered a dumb phone (I’ll start calling it “feature phone” from now on, since that’s the technical term for this type of non-querty-key-board phone) that does so much.

The most important thing for me was speaker phone, and this one seems pretty good in that regard. The buttons are easy to rapidly press as I fire off texts, even with my long nails. Yes it looks like crap (my boyfriend saw it as I pulled it out of the box and his first words were, “I hope you didn’t pay a lot for that hunk of junk”) but that’s because the one I got was a little beat up (even though it promised to be in “excellent” condition).

But don’t judge a book by it’s cover, as it works perfectly, has long battery life, and so far has had no glitches. CONS: The little “jingle” that dings in when a text arrives SUCKS bigtime. You can not change this jingle.

And it sounds like the end of a Vagisil commercial. It’s very grandma and dorky. Okay, this is a man’s phone, a masculine phone — made for military dudes to drop in the water and have it still work, looks like a walkie talkie — and I’m letting off a douching commercial everytime someone texts me? Is this a cruel joke that samsung is trying to play on all the army guys buying this phone???? If someone knows how to change this jingle to something else PLEASE TELL ME as my cool factor and street cred plummets lower and lower every time I get a text in public! Another con: The ringtones are so bad, but so bad, oh my gosh, not even one is acceptable.

Not-a-one. So I tried to “download” new ones via the phone. Not possible. Hunh?? HELP! If anyone knows how to get acceptable ring tones to this phone please tell me! For those of you in my same boat, who are not okay with “AT&T Stargazer” or “At&T Firefly” , here is a semi-solution: hold the phone up to your stereo when it’s playing a song you like, and record it on your phone as an audio clip.

Then you can set that as a ring tone. Yeah, it sounds like crap, but at least it retains the cool factor. In short, this phone is an overall win. It is a huge step up from my last phone which was an Alcatel Go Phone.

Now that thing sucked.

My wife couldnt make the transition from an old flip phone to a smart phone when we switched carriers. They never had flip phones in stock. The guy at the phone store suggested going to eBay to find on that was compatible with the new carrier.

We found this Alcatel phone to be perfect. No more arguments about the smartphone.

Alcatel needs to get out of the cell phone business! This is the poorest flip cell phone I have ever owned! I use a flip phone as my fall-back cell in case I break or loose my smartphone. Older LG or Motorola flip phones run circles around this POS! I used nothing but simpler cell phones prior to 2019; they were all used and were either one of the previous brands mentioned.

The features on this cell were mostly non-existent, I would classify it as a bottom-of-the-barrel 2018 cell that had some of the features of a year 2000 cell. Buy a higher-rated used cell.

Works well with T Mobile. (Also the only flip they offer but price was lower here). For me the down side is it has too many functions being 4G. I wanted something less “smart” My old 2G phone was easier to navigate when just calling and texting.

With the additional functions, I need to complete additional steps to get what I want. The biggest down side is you cannot read the text outdoors. Even shading the screen helps very little. Had to go 4G because T Mobile does not support 2G any more and old phone did mot work well after they upgraded towers.

this was the first phone i got and i loved it. real shame they had to phase out 3g. this phone does everything a phone should do, has good speakers and is easy and simple to understand how to use. i do not enjoy using smartphones, as they are just too distracting and i liked having something simple.

very tough too. now have to look for another like this.

This is a very nice phone. That being said this product is already obsolete even though it is a 4G phone. Verizon WILL NOT activate this phone. In fact, they advised that anyone with this phone already activated will be unable to use their phone after December of this year.

I can’t help but think the seller already knew this as it is stated on his page that he will not take the phone back if Verizon will not activate.

I was thrilled when the Convoy 4 came out! I have had a Convoy 2 or 3 for several years, so I immediately purchased it even before it was available in the stores. What could be better than an updated version of the phone that I already love? Well the convoy 4 is HUGE.

Quit a big larger and heavier than the convoy 3 (same size battery though). I was pretty surprised – I thought smaller and lighter was what newer technology provides – what we have grown to expect. I carried the phone around for 5 days.

It was a BRICK! Heavier than a lot of smart phones even. Ok, so the screen looks to be the exact same size as the convoy 3, Battery is the same size, etc etc. Only noticeable difference (that I care about) is it has a better flashlight.

The better flashlight was the only reason I considered keeping it for more than 10 seconds. Back to Convoy 3 – and hoping that a newer flip-phone will come out someday that doesn’t feel like it’s from the year 2000.

You can do better Samsung! I hope. -my first review ever! :).

I am 83 years old. I have an Alcatel that is simple enough for an elderly tech challenged senior to use. The new Alcatel that that I just bought, I sent to my brother to set up for me. I hope it will be similar to the one I am using.

I have used tracfone phones for the last 25 years and find them better than most for elderly users.

With this Alcatel model I have no information right on the information when you open the phone and see the different options for telling me what my data/airtime and the usage amount left along with how many days service like the other older models.

I have to access settings to see the phone number and then need to sign into the Tracfone website to see my active phones and the usage amount left. That is the con side of the list but the pro side is that it powers down faster and you know it is off, the battery charges very quickly once plugged in.

The question for the future is how long with the 4G option work with Tracfone and how long will the phone work before the flip portion goes bad and you lose the phone.

It programs differently from the one I had before, but I’ve learned to deal with the differences. I am happy to have found it on eBay as you can NOT find any in stores right now. I need a phone I can count on as my husband and I have many (too many) doctor appointments and they use my cell to contact us.

I purchased this phone for my dad. Its very durable. When he calls people, they can here him nice and clear now. This is a great phone for him. He is very happy with it. Im very happy with my purchase.

I highly recommend this phone. Especially for someone older. Its very simple to use.

It’s everything you’ve come to expect from the Convoy line. The battery life excellent, camera mediocre, plenty of features, but now it’s tough as nails. How about a 16ft drop onto concrete? It gets damp all the time.

and still works perfectly. My only complaint has been since new the phone thinks I’ve ejected the SD card on occasion (1-2 times per month) however this is a minor problem fixed by re-seating the card.
