20 Best Tracfone Smartphone 2019 (2022 Updated)

For weeks Tesco stores had increased the price of the A13’s to 179 following a labeling problem. As we wanted to upgrade 2 x A20e phones this priced them out of our market, so when we spotted the same phone on the Tesco eBay site at 139 we jumped at them.

I ordered 2 on Friday, they arrived Tuesday (not Monday as promised) Slightly bigger & a little heavier than our old A20e’s. Most Samsung Galaxy’s work in the same way – so things like ring tone, camera etc work like my old phone.

It was a (fairly) simple process – even for a 61-year old – to move existing numbers & smart switch from old phone to new. As we are already Tesco Mobile customers, & having existing Samsung phones (& chargers – none came with new phones – enviro-friendly, apparently), we simply saved our numbers to the micro sim, & using the lead provided, we followed the Smart Switch app to transfer our photos messages & (most of) apps onto the new phone.

Some more “personal” apps (ie: banking etc) do not transfer using Smart Switch (tip – dont wipe your old phone until you’ve checked/compared) The whole set-up on 2 x phones was completed by me within a couple of hours.

This a nice phone for your basic needs. Its runs the lastest Andriod 12 uodate along Samsungs latest One UI 4. 1 update. It has a extra upgrades from the 5G version. The biggest upgrade is the display.

Its 10x better than the display on the Galaxy A13 5G and the Galaxy A32 5G. It’s a 1080p screen with grear colors. The phone has dual sim abd both sim slots actually work. Now here are the downgrades.

The storage is limited to 32GB, the total ram is limited to 3GB. The phone isnt slow by any means. Ive already received one updatr from Samsung that address performance issues. Now the phone runs much better than it did out the box.

Ive added a 128GB, the updated software also features Samsung’s Ram plus feature that lets boost your total ram. So that helps with performance. The battery life is amazing, I average 8-10 screen on hours daily.

It does feature quick charge (no charger in the box, only the cable) but I have an 18w fast charger already. The cameras are great. Better than the a13 5g. This phone has a wide angle camera, unlike the A13 5G.

Overall it’s a decent price phone for the price. It has many perks. So im happy with it.

I read the lengthy review from the man who was die hard & had a bunch of motos before writing this. I too, have always been Moto. I had the first Razor in ’09 and ONLY replaced it in 2019 because I was told they finally ran out of refurbished ones to send me under my warranty.

I was so disappointed, I may have actually cried. I was so happy with everything about that Razr and nothing has been the same since. Had the Moto Z Play or something (?), for a couple of years and ran into issues withy Verizon service.

I let someone give me an “upgrade” I didn’t want or need which I don’t do simultaneously as getting a replacement phone because when there’s a problem, you never know which one caused it. My service tanked with the service change and the replacement phone, so Verizon kept sending me more phones and messing with my SIM card, etc.

They checked towers, sent me a booster, and finally I broke down and bought a new phone, which was the GARBAGE Pixel 6. When that didn’t fix the issues, I sent the Pixel back and left Verizon because they couldn’t find the service issue and fix it.

Since no company would take the MEI for whatever version of the existing Moto Z I had, I opted for the Moto G 5 stylus, specifically for the stylus and the camera. I have NO EFF’s to give regarding technology.

I want to take pictures, send/rec texts, make phone calls, and read gossip. I don’t care about the latest anything, but because I take a lot of notes and was constantly buying tiny note pads to carry with me, I bought the stylus.

I loved it – for about two months. After TWO MONTHS, the stylus doesn’t even work and the screen is completely non-responsive to other styluses, as well, and I use it to take notes from clients FOR EVERYTHING.

I almost started screaming today while trying to jot down what the client wanted because I couldn’t get this thing to take notes or any legible notes. I’m so disgusted because this phone specializes in taking notes, yet was built to not withstand taking notes.

The screen and the stylus are subpar. Which just reminded me – Never have I EVER purchased a case or so much as a screen protector for a single phone I have ever owned, and I’ve never broken a screen or had even cracked glass.

I had this phone for three days and dropped it on the floor, while bending down, from a height of about 18″ and the entire screen shattered so badly, I had to put packing tape over the screen while waiting for a repair so I didn’t slice my finger on the shards! THREE DAYS? That’s absurd, especially when improvements in glass have been available for a very long time now.

I wasn’t going to put a claim through insurance only to receive a refurbished phone to replace a three day-old new phone I haven’t even paid for, yet, so I had to pay to fix this one and I was miffed.

(Bought a case). I have the same sluggishness others complained about but I thought it was due to carrier issues. I have Spectrum now, which is our cable company and they run over Verizon towers, one of which is across the street from my house, and I have the same issues when using wifi so it’s not the carrier; it’s just that this phone that was supposed to be so awesome, actually just sucks.

My screen can say 5G and apps won’t respond, texts fail to send, and don’t even get me started on the finite, repetitive process I must follow just to get this thing to attach a photo to a text! Holy hell, I thought it was just me.

I figured it was because I’m not tech savvy, but now I realize my new phone sucks, and that’s so disappointing.

I’ve really liked my previous Moto phones, ESPECIALLY the Moto g7 Power with it’s incredible battery life! They’ve been great “budget” phones (around $200-ish) that don’t feel cheap like many “budget” phones.

Always good, solid function with everything I need in a phone, and without the frills I don’t care about. I buy my (unlocked) phones outright/cash directly from the Motorola website. I bought this Moto g Stylus (2020) instead of replacing the charging port on my Moto g7 Power which was a couple years old.

I took a deep dive into the specs and chose the 2020 version instead of the 2021 because it had all the specs I wanted most. I assumed getting a newer phone—with great specs on paper—would be an upgrade of sorts.

Boy was I wrong. The performance of the g Stylus is TERRIBLE. It’s incredibly slow, lags & freezes a TON, and is SUPER glitchy. And I’m not talking about internet speeds, though that’s slow, laggy & glitchy too.

Even when on gig speed internet. It’s so laggy in fact, that it’s taken me 25+ minutes to write a 3 minute review because the phone freezes mid-sentence and takes a loooooong time to unfreeze. if it unfreezes at all.

Sometimes the only thing I can do is restart my phone and start over from scratch. which is incredibly frustrating as I lose any work or online activity I was engaged in when it froze. Other minor issues: the stylus pops out at the slightest bump of the phone.

And that baby can fly out quickly and fairly far. I’ve had a few search parties for it. The screen sensitivity to the stylus is also not good. Often times the screen won’t pick up the marks made with the stylus, rendering it useless.

(Yes, I have adjusted the screen sensitivity on settings. ) I also don’t like that the 6. 4″ screen is just longer & skinnier than the g7 Power’s 6. 1″ screen. The two phones are about the same size overall, but the g Stylus screen is just skinnier by eliminating some of the “dead space” that the g7 Power screen had.

It just doesn’t have the feel or function of a truly bigger phone/screen. The biggest issue is the lag & freeze. The other issues are minor, but the terrible slow performance is something I’d definitely consider as a “deal breaker.

” Now I just need to figure out if I want to take a chance on buying a different Moto phone, repair my older g7 Power, or go with another brand altogether. This is the first Moto phone that I would *not* recommend.

Overall I am happy with the phone, the biggest drawbacks are slow and lagging speeds, the camera does not work as well as expected or claimed, same I’m having issues with charging the phone. My software is updated and my apps are as well.

All security updates are in place. Loading apps can be very frustrating and take a lot of time. Sometimes the app will hang and I have to force stop and then restart them. Photos taken on the camera do not look as good as they did on my previous phone.

They appear to have some blur to them and just very low quality / resolution. I am using the default camera app that comes with the phone, I have tried a few third-party camera apps but they don’t seem like they can use the cameras properly on the phone.

Maybe there’s something I’m missing in the app. Charging the phone has just become a concern. When I would plug it in it would show me that I’m turbo charging, same as my previous phone, but this last week it only shows “charging” or “charging rapidly”.

I have even tried my previous turbo charger will the same results. My previous phone was a Motorola Z3, never an issue charging it nor any of my other Motorola turbo charging phones. I really enjoy the upgraded Android software, it has many features that I like.

I really like the stylus, it is a little bit slow, but works very well. The fingerprint reader on the back is much better than I thought it would be, it’s very responsive. I got a Motorola branded case for it which I believe is much better than the aftermarket cases.

The battery does last longer than it did on my Z3. You have much more control over the sound on this phone as well.

My trusty old not a Samsung phone finally gave up the ghost so, between the reviews on this site and Consumer Reports magazine saying for the money this is a great middle of the road phone. Not so. I set the phone up, had my widgets placed where I want them, icons in the order and place I want them and almost daily I have to re arrange them again as they disappear or are mysteriously moved elsewhere on this junk phone.

The volume is not loud enough, ringers aren’t loud enough either and now, Samsung did some sort of “update” and none of my notification tones for text, messaging alerts etc will sound. I looked up this issue and Samsung says it’s all about battery life and I’ll need to go into each app and turn off battery saver if I want the tones to sound again.

I mean Really ? On my old phone, if I needed the flashlight feature, all I needed to do was shake the phone from side to side to turn it on and off. This Samsung phone you’ll need to drop everything you’re carrying like groceries etc and get into the phone, pull the menu down and tap the flashlight icon to turn it on or off.

Due to writing guidelines here, I can’t say the name of my old phone, which BTW, the latest models available got poor ratings. I sure wish I had ignored the ratings and just got the newest version of my old phone.

This one doesn’t even compare.

I’m usually annoyed when people complain about their phone, but now I’m the one complaining. This has been the worst phone I’ve had in 10 years. I’ve had it for about 9 months and the problems just continue.

My hot spot has never worked, Bluetooth is hit or miss, it is all around glitchy, and the keyboard is a joke (I’m endlessly erasing and fixing words that it thinks I “meant” to say that make absolutely zero sense.

) The camera is not great, the finger print sensor isn’t worth using. The only thing I really like it the options to customize/personalize. I do like all the shortcuts and different setting you can change.

The battery life is good as well, I still make it through the day without having to plug it in and if I forget to charge it I can make it the next day about halfway through the day before charging. The bad definitely outweighs thr good.

When I reached out to Samsung they said they would replace it if I had a copy of my receipt, so I went back to the store I purchased it from and had them print me another receipt. When I contacted Samsung support after having the receipt they just told me to factory reset it instead.

I was so aggravated. I also have issues not getting voice-mail people leave for me, and have heard other people with this same phone complain of the same problem. Wouldn’t recommend this phone to anyone.

Bought samsung a42 to replace my galaxy s8 that I had nothing but problems with since day 1. The samsung a42 seemed like a nice upgrade. Very long battery life, descent camera, kinda slow but to be expected from a not top of the line phone.

Everything was fine for a couple months until one day at 3:30 in the morning when my phone started smoking on the charger. Something was shorting inside and it was heating up and seemed like it was gonna catch fire.

I was then forced samsung’s excuse of a warranty service. I had to take my phone into a certified samsung repair center where they kept it for 2 days to determine there was no water or physical damage and that they couldn’t fix it.

I had to then send it into samsung directly and wait another 5 days so that they could diagnose it because I guess they don’t trust the word of their repair centers. They later decided it did have water damage and that I have to pay for all repairs and that it will take another week to fix.

The phone has never been wet or even been in a steamy room. It seems weird to me that it charged fine for several hours and then all of the sudden, prior water damage caused it to smoke. But I am just supposed to take there word for it and pay for whatever.

Had charging issues on my S8 too and they flat out told me that since it was hardware, that it had to be damaged by me and that warranty wouldn’t cover it. Pretty clear that samsung won’t stand by their products and I am done gambling with phones.

Samsung phones used to be superior but are no longer. Will be switching to apple.

Needed a new phone. Upgraded from a Galaxy note 8 and an iPhone 6s. Decent size, both in my hand and in storage size. Fast, reliable speed for a mobile device. Great display. Wonderful connectivity (Straight Talk phone on Straight Talk service) and the battery absolutely slaps.

Especially coming from a 6s and Note 8 (comparable to the Note 8, maybe even more battery life) and the features of iOS far outshine Android in non-homebrew apps. (kept my Note 8 for NFC read/write capabilities.

I make custom Amiibo) but NFC aside, Apple Pay still works and I love it, the security and stability of iOS has my heart from an IT perspective. The memory(RAM) optimization is far more than any Android I’ve ever had.

Camera is beautiful and clear, utilization is in point. Would recommend. EDIT 1: I neglected to mention the top speaker, in the past reserved for phone call audio, acts as a secondary speaker with comparable decibel quality to the bottom speaker when the bottom is blocked or otherwise inconceivable.

Even when it isn’t, it only compliments the main speaker. Extremely nice sound quality on this phone.

So with the launch of the new iPhone 12 Mini, I was intrigued to remember what a smaller iPhone was like again, so I bought an SE. It still had the original battery, so I needed to get a new one (15 from Amazon, plus a very anxious night getting the old battery off the sticky tape) and now it seems as good as new.

I’m genuinely shocked at how easy it is to hold – the sides are flat so it’s not the slippery bar of soap that the iPhone 6 onwards were, and I can reach right to the top of the screen with one hand.

It’s running iOS14, so it does pretty much everything my iPhone X does – take photos, ApplePay, internet, mail, etc. I bought the 128Gb model, because my old iPhone was 256Gb, but actually it’s nowhere near full.

Really, it’s everything I need. So much so that although I bought it as a curiosity, I’ve actually switched from my iPhone X. Sure, that phone feels amazing, has an amazing screen, and seems a little bit faster, but it’s so large! And the iPhone SE isn’t exactly slow.

The main difference between the two is between TouchID on the SE, and FaceID on the X. I thought I’d find it hard to go back to TouchID, but actually it’s no bother at all. The phone unlocks quickly.

and double-clicking to switch between apps feels like second nature after a day or two. And it unlocks perfectly when you’re wearing a mask something I really didn’t think about until the first time I did it.

Nice. So would I recommend the iPhone SE, even over a ‘modern’ iPhone like the X? Absolutely! This is possibly the last year it’ll get a full OS update, but even so it’ll still work for at least a few more years.

And although my original purchase was to get a feel for what the iPhone 12 Mini might be like size-wise, I’m not sure whether I want FaceID again. I might just stick with the SE until next year.

I’d say overall it’s a great phone, if you don’t want the super expensive newer phones but need an upgrade this phone is definitely it. $450 for 128 gb with almost the same specs as the iPhone 11, you can’t ask for better tbh.

I’ve had this phone for 2 years! (Survived a quick 3 minute dunk in the ocean)Still works, just has these minor eh moments. (When I’m on a phone call the screen will go black then to normal. Not a huge issue just a little annoying when ur trying to get someone on speaker lol [sometimes it glitches out of games and has to restart but it isn’t often]).

You get some pretty good pictures, though the front facing camera like usual is just meh. If your a selfie addicted don’t get this phone for pictures only. The rear facing camera is amazing, I like to take pictures of animals and some close ups, takes some patience but the end results are really good.

(Certain retail places offer all of that) So far this phone is meeting all of my expectations, I had originally ordered the Galaxy A71, but was sent this one instead.

Of course I was a bit disappointed angry. But after checking out the differences, there really aren’t many. This one isn’t as big as the Galaxy A71 but it is big enough for me. There is some storage RAM size differences.

Bur I love the camera’s the bright screen. It is very clear the battery is wayyyy better than the iPhone that I had before it. I have always been a Samsung girl but decided to try the iPhone but tbh I HATED IT!! It never held a charge the keyboards are ridiculous.

But this Galaxy A51 remembers passwords uses the fingerprint to open apps that are locked. I love the security aspect to it. So from going from a Galaxy S9+ to a iPhone then back to this Galaxy A51 I am VERY happy about being able to come back to Samsung.

I will ALWAYS be a Samsung Galaxy girl!!.

If you need a solid phone and can find it , do yourself a favor and purshase the Samsung A51 4G cell phone! I thought it was not a good idea to purchase on the verge of 5G coming out , but I was wrong, no drawbacks to not having 5G ! It has 4G of ram,128gb of space,5 cameras the front facing is higher resolution than most external ones are ,everything all the way up to 48mp.

It comes with OS 10 but immediately updated to OS 11 and 3 months later to OS 12 ! (something Samsung use to not do). Sound for 1 speaker is very good, fingerprint scan is flawless and downloads and updates are super quick.

I purchased it a little over a year ago and added no screen protectors and it has one tiny 1/4″ scratch (my fault) screen is well made , it has a 3. 5mm audio jack,uses c style charger , battery lasts all day with constant use (8 hours) and longer with “standard” use , charges fast and interfaces with Microsoft 12 effortlessly! I purchase it @Black Friday event for $199 bucks and originally it was $459 but has mostly been offered at $249 a steal ! I can do anything with this phone you can do with your $1200 S20 or I12 ! I don’t know about refurbished sellers but if you can get it through Walmart and the Straight Talk version it comes with a standard 1 year warranty regardless and you can purchase extended plans.

So much positive to say , I’m sure i’m leaving things out. the screen is 6. 2″ with edge to edge viewing,its very clear and bright , it automatically adjusts to lighting conditions or can be adjusted of has filters for blue light.

It adjusts itself to your schedule, it knows when you normally stop use and comes to life at your normal wake-up time. All apps including “wearables” operate flawlessly as well. Just buy it if you can find it , you will not be disappointed !.

Been using it for a couple of weeks now and I really like it over the features of my former LG phone. The screen resolution and pics are super clear. Comes with a Samsung Package of organization and useful apps, but not overloaded with crap apps like the bigger carriers.

ONE THING. Buy a good rubberized case such as an Otterbox Defender or Commuter. The phone itself is super thin, very slippery and easy to accidently activate screen items just by holding or picking up the phone.

The Otterbox or another rubberized or grippy plastic case makes this phone so easy to carry and use one handed. It also stores great and protected in the pocket with a good case and doesn’t fall out.

I leave it on my charger at night beside the bed. The battery life will last all day until I get home, and I use it a lot. Even for Spotify on my bluetooth speaker at work and in my truck. I usually never have to charge it again until bedtime.

I am super satisfied and the switchover and transfer of all apps and info was easy.

What I wanted was a real Windows Phone, not the awful thing that Balmer had on the market, and I wanted it in the size of a 2014 Samsung Core Prime. Left with a choice between Google and Apple, I chose Google and the Android.

As for size, the newest thing I could find that was even remotely close to the Core Prime form factor was this refurbished 2016 S-7. So the specs aren’t very good, but it’s the best fit I could find.

Out of the box you really couldn’t tell that it wasn’t new. There were no scratches or other indications that it had ever been used. So maybe it an NOS job. Whatever, certainly the condition was better than advertised, which is a real plus.

The Android system software level was quite far behind, and it is on its 4th push update at the moment. As for pre-installed apps, between Verizon, Google, and Samsung, the push on apps is super in-your-face aggressive – especially with Yelp.

It’s going to take a while to get it cleaned out and have it settle down with only what I want on it, assuming that is achievable at all. So am I happy with it? Not really, but it is as close as I could come to what I wanted, which isn’t very close.

For what it is, it’s pretty good. I would give it a C+.

By far the worst phone in existence and should be recalled and destroyed. Why in the world do I have a VR app on my smartphone that even when disabled uses 36% of my battery if not more on avaerage after every charge? I have to diable and force stop the app everytime I turn the phone on and use it for awhile then check back to see what this random VR app is up to and oh hey 40% of my battery is used from a disabled app.

Oh and now my phone is 240 degrees and i could cook an egg on the screen. This phone has shut down more times from overheating then any electronic devices I have ever seen in my life. Pure trash. Not to mention if you set this phone anywhere but your pocket it will slide for no reason.

P. S. you can not uninstall this app. “Gear VR Service” only disable but it does not stop ever even after force stopping the app. and disabling.

I’ve had a Galaxy S7 since the year it came out, and I’m super impressed with how long it’s lasted. I use it pretty much all-day every day, and it’s still holding up extremely well (aside from some slowness and outdated software).

I’m amazed that it’s been able to last five years with all the stuff I’ve put it through, like the countless number of times I’ve dropped it, or how scuffed up the screen gets in my bag; it’s incredible how well-built and durable this phone is during everyday use.

And somehow I still haven’t cracked the screen or the back glass yet! Now my major issue with this phone is it’s lack of storage space. With only 32GB of internal storage, it can fill up pretty fast, but luckily this can easily be solved by buying a micro SD card, which most flagships don’t have the option to do that now.

I’d also like to mention how nice the camera is. For being a 2016 phone, the camera is surprisingly good, nowhere near S21 Ultra quality, but still impressive. The 5. 1″ screen is also very nice, despite that being considered “small” nowadays, I personally find it to be a perfect size; although granted I have small hands.

Overall, an amazing phone. Though I recommend buying a newer flagship.

Samsung A42 5G Tracfone first impressions. I just received it a couple days ago but my first impression is that it is thin, fast, light weight and the transfer from my old phone is easily set up with Samsung Smart Switch.

While I get used to using it while leaving my old J7 Tracfone activated. I am using wi-fi for now instead of activating the A42 5G immediately to be sure it works well and I adapt to the newer functions of the A42 5G before retiring my old phone.

The slot for a massive optional SD card and the bonus QVC Tracfone minutes are great. Beware when inserting an SD card as the SIM and SD card fall out of the fragile little SIM tray and were tricky to reinsert securely.

I’m very Disappointed that I did not receive the beautiful Silver color phone that I ordered and instead received what appears to be the Black phone (my least favorite phone color !!). I did not choose to return it and wait for the correct Silver replacement as my old phone is nearing death.

It is difficult to see where the tiny buttons are on the black as they blend completely with the screen turned off. It is even hard to tell which end is the top or bottom or front from back when nothing is easily distinguished when turned off.

Oddly the bundle included a car charger apparently for an old car cigarette/accessory socket while almost all newer vehicles have USB charging ports. Strange. The QVC bundle should ditch the mostly useless old car phone charger and include a spare wall charger and cord or an adequate protective case which would actually be useful.

I really hope I can find a spare OEM Samsung wall charger and cord as I like to carry one in my purse or backpack so I do not need to take the home charger and USB cord with me while out. QVC does not appear to sell the spare charger, extra charger cord or an adequate protective case which will add to the overall cost for the Galaxy A42 5G but no luck so far.

Over all it seems nice in the short time I’ve had it and the one-year Tracfone card with minutes, data and text are a bonus slightly offsetting the excessive $$557. 96 ($604. 27 QVC cost after tax) and a mostly useless car charger for this new phone.

Time will tell if QVC one year minutes and my current Tracfone minutes all transfer once activated.

I don’t do reviews, so this is new for me. I just had to help save one fellow-user from repeating my mistake. First, a bit about me. I’m a frequent consumer of Samsung products, I own TVs, tablets and too many phones to list.

I’ve always had great luck with Samsung, and their support has been AMAZING! I recently purchased an A42 5G from Ting for use on T-Mobile. This phone is trash, here are my gripes (after several months of suffering): – The unlock functions are REALLY MESSED-UP.

The fingerprint reader doesn’t work (yes, I’ve up’ed the sensitivity, I don’t have a screen protector, I’ve re-taught it my fingers multiple times). – Face unlock never works – The Smart Lock isn’t – meaning it ALWAYS requires a PIN to unlock, unless I’ve used it 1 minute ago.

Worthless feature. -It turns-on in my shirt pocket — I know it has anti-butt-dial feature, but I don’t keep it in a place where the sun doesn’t shine — I keep it in my shirt pocket. The battery is always low because the lock screen is lit up and it frequently starts talking to me (Google assistant) or starts playing my Sirius/XM app.

This could be self-inflicted because I have the sensitivity set high to try to fix the fingerprint issue – very annoying.

First I will start with saying Samsung is the only phone I will use. I have never used anything else because I have always had great experiences with their products. I have always had a midcost phone due to really not needing all that fancy jaz these high dollar phones have.

I just take a few pictures, watch a few videos and do some social media. The most important thing for me is to have a phone to text and make phone calls. With that being said. This phone takes amazing pictures.

Watching videos are clean and clear. The colors are vibrant. Very happy with those qualities. Now for the down falls. The sound is muffled because the speaker is on the bottom of the phone not the top.

The power button is on the same side as the volume key. Which makes it frustrating to turn the volume up or down because you’re always blacking your phone out from hitting the power button. Those are just little irritations.

The real problem is the talking on the phone. Everyone sounds muffled or like they are under water on my end. People are telling me that I sound far away and is having trouble hearing me. The texting works good.

But if your not connected to wifi good luck getting any service at all & We have a 5g tower a quarter of a mile down the road. I have never had any of these issues with any of my other phones. So with that being said.

This is the first Samsung phone I can honestly say I hate! The cost for this phone isn’t the cheapest either. As far as the battery life goes. I have all the power saving options turned on and my battery still doesn’t last the entire day.

I’m saddened to say I wish I never bought this phone. My husband says the same thing. He also purchased the same model. Unfortunately we will be stuck with these for the next 2 to 3 years. Will definitely do more research on next purchase.

Here are the reasons I bought it: 1) Smaller than most phones (which have been getting bigger) 2) Removable battery 3) Gorilla glass to resist cracks and scratches because I don’t put screen protectors on my phones.

Check out the drop videos on youtube – this phone is very crack resistant compared to some cheaper motorolla phones without gorilla glass 4) Buying a phone from Tracfone instead of bringing your own unlocked phone enables some add-ons which were previously not available to me such as 365 days for 49.

99. 5) Very low price – so I can justify replacing this phone sooner instead of having to wait a few years and missing out on new Android features and also spend more money on a tablet instead 6) It seems to be possible to uninstall or disable all of the extra Tracfone/Samsung apps so battery life is excellent in standby mode.

Some minuses: No led notification light to indicate charge status or missed call/text – but there are a couple of features in its place. No ambient light sensor for auto brightness when you get caught in bright sunlight, however this is an LCD (not AMOLED) so this feature is not as essential (unless your brightness is already set to lowest) and there are workarounds such as the placement of the adjustment slider at the bottom and also apps in the play store to set brightness with a button on home page when “blind”.

I wish it was compatible with carriers other than Verizon (DL suffix instead of VL suffix in model name) but I couldn’t find another phone from Tracfone at this price with previously mentioned features.

Phone came upgraded to Android 9. I bought a “black OtterBox Symmetry for J3 2018 3rd gen” for it and a 32GB storage expansion sd card. Conclusion: I am happy that I could purchase this phone (on sale) for such an amazing price.

This phone is very easy to use and has a very user-friendly format. It is the lowest priced phone that has a quality build. The cheaper phones such as ZTE, LG Alcatel, and flipphones are glitchy and don’t run some apps very well.

I have found that this phone has no glitching and doesn’t lag when running apps. The reception on this phone is really good and it is able to catch Wi-fi signals amazingly well. For example, my laptop is not able to consistently pick up the Wifi signal in my apartment while the phone has no problem doing that.

The texture and design of the phone are very attractive and enjoyable for the user. The dimensions of the phone are just right for viewing videos and opening webpages without being too large to not fit in the pocket.

The phone also charges incredibly fast. It only takes 20 minutes for it to charge to 90%, and another 10 minutes to charge to 100%. Overall, I’m greatly pleased with this phone and recommend it to anyone who want a low-cost and easy-to-use device.

I was very happy with my TCL A1X that I had for a year. I eventually, reluctantly traded it in for an iPhone, because I needed to be able to use wifi-calling in the place where I was moving. Apparently TCL A1X are capable of wifi-calling in some regions, but not in others.

Wifi calling didn’t end up being compatible with my TCL A1X, which was confusing and disappointing because of persistently incomplete I information received from the Tracfone sales department. For the year that I used the TCL A1X and did not need wifi-calling, however, it was just what I wanted: calling, texting, taking basic photos, using some basic apps like Zoom, Venmo, voice recording, Gmail, Google Calendar, Maps, etc.

I frequently turn off data to reduce usage, and that was very easily done. The screen worked great, the typing worked beautifully, and it’s lightweight. Extraordinary what you can have in your pocket for such an affordable price.

Bought this one for a silly problem on my previous Rebel 4, I had a stylus earphone plug get stuck in the earphone jack. tried removing it, but it was too badly lodged inside. Have also bought my Mother this same model, as her Rebel 2 lacked VoltE so it was no longer supported on Tracfone (really Verizon) our carrier.

that’s happened before (we had a Motorola 376 previously that we were forced to abandon as it was no longer supported on their network). Yes, we are laggards in terms of phones but they aren’t our primary ones, as we have regular VOIP phones at home, and aren’t mobile often.

If we get 5G eventually, it will probably be used mostly on our home devices. Having said that, this phone does what we want of it. Only issue I’ve had is hiccups with the automatic Android updates not being well tested, every time I turned on my phone there would be some process that would hang.

Don’t like the push model of updates, especially when they’re not well tested, but this seems to be epidemic these days, as Windows 10 unfortunately does the same (wish could stay with Windows 7, but support for it is basically in the past) but you don’t get to choose when they force updates that aren’t ready for prime time.

not a specific issue with this phone but with Android policy. It is a good basic phone, doesn’t have all the features, but don’t really need them, and low cost means when it inevitably has to be replaced it is inexpensive.

Have had broken screen, and aforementioned earphone jack problem (didn’t want to be forced to used Bluetooth to always answer phone, so got a replacement), but the phone is inexpensive, so I just get another one.

Plus it has replaceable battery, which seems to be a rarity, and with earphone jack supports FM radio reception, which expensive phones (without earphone jack) lack. since the earphone cord is the FM antenna.

Yes, it could have more storage, faster processor, better camera, etc, that come with more expensive phones, but for me the biggest luxury is not having to worry about a replacement. Don’t give a whit about what other people think of my phone, and it does what I need.

My Mother is able to make use of it too, even though the changing screens does confuse her (as would any smartphone, considered getting her a flip phone for simplicity as my departed Father had, but some of the features of smartphone are nice for daily life.

I’ve had this new phone for a few weeks now and I LOVE IT!!! I had an older LG model and wanted to stay with LG so as not to have to re-learn a new phone. I needed a new phone for more memory for various reason.

This phone is super fast, has plenty of memory for apps, games, etc. The only issue I have with it is it won’t auto populate my contacts into the system in my truck via Bluetooth like my old LG phone did, but perhaps that is an issue with my truck’s system and not the phone.

It links to all my other Bluetooth devices with no problem. There were no issue like others had reported not receiving data upon activation. I didn’t pay that much attention at the time, but I think it took just a couple hours and like magic it was up and running-no problem at all.

I downloaded a transfer wizard app and moved everything that wasn’t on my sd card from my old phone-no problem at all. The reception coming and going is great so far. I’ve been a customer of tracfone for approximately 10 years and they have always been very helpful on the rare occasions that I have had to call them.

Their website is WAY better, simpler, etc. than another cell phone company-who shall remain nameless-I had to deal with helping my 85 year old mom. the other company’s website was honestly the worst website I’ve ever used-if/when you can actually log on to it! Long story short, my mom switched to TracFone bringing her phone # from the other carrier and the TracFone customer service worked really hard to make that # transfer happen.

they were courteous, extremely patient and helpful. Now my mom is also a happy TracFone customer and not over-paying for too much cell phone. So, all in all this is a great phone at a great price, it’s WAY more of an improvement over my old phone than I expected, the minute/txt/data plans are as inexpensive as you need them to be, and customer service is good too.

What more can you ask for? I’m a happy customer.

Three stars because its 2020 and devices should have more standard storage. Also, I’d like 1 additional gig of ram. Both those upgrades aren’t a lot $/unit, but have big impact on performance and enjoyment.

Likes: -High-quality screen. Not huge, but not 4. 7inch diagonal you get with even the iphone 7(not 7 pro). – Speedy enough to not trash the user experience for most tasks and light multitasking. – Camera is just ok.

With just 8mp, it had better than I expected picture quality. Dislikes: – Walmart plans w/data run from $25/month-$35/month(unlimited 15gb data). There is no reaaaly cheap plan with unlimited voice calling,texts, and 5gb monthly data for $6/month total, like other phone plan services offer.

AND, you cant just sign up for those services either since the phone is “locked” to Walmart Fam Mobile service for at least 1 year(of paid service). – 16gb of built-in storage for apps is usable, but not if you plan to frequently record audio/video clips.

FYI, Google offers unlimited storage of pictures if you have an account and the Google Photos app installed. To take advantage of this, just make sure the location/directory you use to store pictures is being automatically backed up by the Photos app(see the app settings to change).

You can expand the built-in storage with a micro sd card(up to 32gb), which can be around $15 bucks.

I bought this device twice actually. The first one I out through the ringer and finally it took fully submerged in water for up to 3-5 mins unnoticed before it finally gave up and quit. Very durable for a generic android device.

However the settings are not great but even still it has some basic functions a lot of devices do not come equipped with. Only really lacks in biometric tech. Comes stock with a custom ROM the latest security update Android 10/11 and built in Mac address randomization.

a Which is a must these days if you use wifi a lot which most of us do. I’ve seen high end devices lacking in this setting. So overall if you are looking for a cheap device that can handle most any task and don’t mind not having the fancy biometric sensory and what not.

This device will suffice I can assure you. Actually if it had more ram I’d continue to use it as my personal phone. Its hard to beat the price and the simplicity overall a great purchase for basic Android use.

Perhaps for your child even or someone that will most likely just use it for the necessary everyday use or is hard on their phone, this is a great buy. I don’t have really anything bad to say about it.

Let me start with how I went from an iPhone to the Blu View 2. I was super short on money, I didn’t know what to do, so I sold my iPhone and went to Walmart. I was looking for the cheapest option possible and saw this magical device for 29.

99! I nearly cried, I was so thankful. I went home and simply inserted my previous SIM card (which was also a tracfone SIM card) and boom turned the baby right up. Everything was super easy to set up, except for the wifi.

I had some issues with finding the network, but if that happens for you, just simply click on “mixed” addresses and make sure to click private. My network then popped up. Sure, it sometimes takes a little longer to load things, but other than that I have absolutely no complaints.

Obviously you can’t compare a 29. 99 phone vs a $1000 phone. This is absolutely insane for the price!! I am so glad and I will never ever fall into the trap of having to have a “flag ship” phone again.

Purchased 2, one for my wife and 1 for me. They work for about 3 weeks and then went south. Called Tracfone and was on my home phone about 2 hours, twice. Phones are HOT to the touch when charging. I followed all of their instructions.

They worked for a day and died again. They are Nokia 2760 Flip and are totally useless. I am sorry that I ever bought them. Nothing but a piece of crap. And of course my 30 day return is beyond returning.

Works great and super easy to use! We got this as a phone to leave home with our kids and they were able to learn how to use it quickly and easily! We’ve been super impressed with how crystal clear the audio is when they call us.

The only thing we wish is that it didn’t have a data option and was solely a phone for calling and texting.

I’m an old codger of seventy and although I love my iPad Pro I only wanted an ‘ordinary’ simple to use phone on which to phone people. My ‘new’ New Condition Nokia 2760 flip phone is brilliant! It arrived well packed ( who needs a fancy box) complete with Brand New battery and mains charger, it was unmarked, no scratches or dents, complete with screen protectors properly fitted and a bargain.

Once the battery was fitted along with my sim ( the phone is unlocked) and charged up it was ready to use. It’s small ( fits in the pocket) is very easy to use ( it’s a Nokia). The buying process with eBay is easy to complete so if you want an easy to use, well engineered simple phone buy one of these.

Oh! One more thing if you want to do more than talk to someone it has a usable camera and it turns off when you close it. Just the ticket!.

I chose this to replace a five year old phone no longer receiving security updates. I use a banking app so to get these updates seems advisable. Samsung will apparently offer 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates for this phone.

This phone has a macro camera, compass, runs the latest version of Android and has more features than my previous phone including sharper screeen, 5G and dual band WIFI. I like having the macro camera to photograph plants and insects but this only works within 3 to 5cm of the subject.

Some reviews criticise response time but I have found it fine to use and there seems to be no problem making calls even when coverage is poor. The battery is about 50% after 23 hours typical use and takes 1 hour to fully charge on a normal charger.

I do not make a lot of calls though I use apps like Whatsapp and Slack a lot. I use Nova Launcher as the home application not the Samsung One UI Home as Nova has more configuration options and may be faster than the default, though on-screen notifications require the paid-for version which is £3.

99. It is annoying that Samsung load the phone with their apps which the user cannot uninstall. With the trade in offer, this is a good value but maybe suits light users.

I’ve always had flagship phones in the past. I had a good think about what I need from a phone and decided that the A53 would do everything I want. I’m in my 50s and so enjoy a bit of gaming but if I want to play Call of Duty or other graphics card taxing titles, I’ll use the PC.

So the A53 is fine for the type of mobile games I play. I watched and read a lot of reviews and quite a few reckon it is laggy. I have to say after just over a week of use, I’ve not noticed any lag at all.

The battery life is immense, and the speakers are really good. I don’t use earphones so the lack of a jack does not bother me. Having SD card support is really useful too. Camera is really good. Videos are a little jittery and that’s an area where a flagship would probably excel.

As with the majority of Samsung phones, the display is just beautiful. The A53 is just short of being flagship slick but it really doesn’t bother me. Before you spend ridiculous money on an S series or equivalent, just have a think what you need from a phone.

I reckon the A53 will have you covered.

I am very pleased with my new phone. My old phone was old (Samsung Galaxy S7) so this one is obviously a huge improvement on that. Faster processor and a much better battery life are the prime examples.

I initially considered an Samsung Galaxy S22, but the price was above what I was prepared to pay. I also wanted a phone that had extendable storage on an SD card, which the S22 does not have. I read various comparison reviews between the two phones and the overall the A53 came out top in terms of bang for your buck.

I don’t use my phone for music, movies or games, so some of the claims and benefits punted by manufacturers are irrelevant to me. I use it for Internet, calls, texts, photos and useful and practical apps and the A53 provides me with all that I need from a phone when I’m on the go.

A good price from John Lewis and the £100 cashback (even although it takes a while to come through) made it very affordable. I ordered on the Saturday night and delivery was Monday. Very pleased with my purchase.

Size: palm perfect. Form: thoughtfully tailored. Function: continually impressive. Experience: top notch. I chose to switch to iOS after 10+ years of other & selected my iPhone 12 Mini for the transition.

Having done pretty extensive research prior, I expected everything to be adequate enough to achieve & maintain my happiness with these choices. However, turns out that I now find myself challenged to express exactly how overjoyed I am with this device after ~3mo of ownership.

The most common complaint I’ve seen (and I’m sure you have, too) about this device is the battery life. Unfortunately, that’s only true when it’s considered that the overwhelming majority of people who are in possession of smartphones use them for what they should rather be utilizing desktop/laptop computers for and not constantly their mobile device.

I easily & consistently get 48-60hrs device on-time from 100%-0% battery; I can increase that time to 72+hrs if I tried. Full disclosure: I have extremely limited social media presence relative to what’s typical these days.

If that does not sound like you: consider getting a different device equipped with a larger battery that’s designed to better handle excessive demand. If you’d like my opinions/advice for increasing the already great battery life of your iPhone 12 Mini: 1) turn OFF 5G (Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Options>Voice & Data) and only use when actually needed (if it’s even available in your area) to transmit very large amounts of data over cellular service very quickly; 2) alter motion settings (Settings>Accessibility>Motion) like Reduce Motion: ON & Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions: OFF if suitable for you; 3) turn OFF background app refresh (Settings>General>Background App Refresh) for ALL apps you don’t require to have their data refreshed frequently when they aren’t open and being actively used 4) alter iCloud backup settings (Settings>*box with your name at very top of page*>iCloud) to backup only what you actually need backed up 5) alter display & brightness settings (Settings>Display & Brightness) for “Dark” appearance, Night Shift: Sunrise to Sunset, & Auto-Lock: 30sec if suitable for you.

Also, consider spending less time on your smart device to actually live life to the fullest and use your phone as mostly just a phone when needed. Other complaints I’ve heard: Touchscreen issues: I haven’t experienced any touchscreen issues (could be attributed to moisture on screen/improper screen protector install/icons on screen set too small by user which can be adjusted in Settings>Display & Brightness) Poor sound volume/quality: I find volume for both calls & media can be exceptionally loud (possibly wrong volume seeing attempting to be adjusted by user to fix because can adjust call speaker volume as well as media volume individually) Messages not received/sending; I use native iOS messaging and experience no such problems (maybe poor cellular or WiFi connection and possibly even the messaging app used itself by user) To sum my review up, my iPhone 12 Mini is the best mobile device I’ve ever owned.

I was so excited when this phone launched last year, I’ve been waiting so long for a newer flagship iPhone to be more on the compact size! Unfortunately I didn’t have the ability to get a new phone until a few months ago, But I am very pleased with the device! I upgraded from an iPhone XR and am so happy with the size difference, as someone with hands on the smaller side it was really hard to effortlessly use my old phone with one hand without dropping it or constantly adjusting my grip.

This phone is just the opposite! I can use it easily with on hand to scroll quick or type a quick couple word reply, also texting on this phone is of ease as well. Now a lot of people would complain about the battery life, but for me there’s no issue.

I don’t do a lot of heavy phone usage most days, just messaging, emails, social media and occasionally playing Pokemon go. I can easily get thru a whole day without any issues, and if I do have high usage days usually I’m at home and have a charger nearby, with my fast charging block my phone charges in less than a hour! SO I would defiantly recommend this ( or the 13 Mini if you’d like the newest) To anyone upgrading from an original 6,7 or 8 or SE and don’t want to have to get a gigantic phone! Also the green color is just so kawaii and the design is very modern and I’m just a sucker for the squared edges, it reminds me of the 5s.

I started with iPhone 3. I upgraded from iPhone 7 to iPhone 12 mini and I miss the 7. No glitches, no heating issues, no battery drain, and no screen issues. I had to have my iPhone 12 mini replaced within the first 6 months because the screen kept getting stuck, phone overheating and other quirky things would happen.

At the price difference between the 2 models and the amount of time apple has had to perfect their tech you would think a newer model would be better. Instead of apple trying to add all these features I wish they would just focus on perfecting the current features it has so they work without issues.

Also it angers me to no end that they don’t do enough recalls for theirs issues. I miss the new every 2 program. Phones are way too expensive to keep buying every year to 2 years. Overall I would not recommend this model.

The image quality is terrible as well. I’m an avid apple user with my my entire family using iPhones, iPads and MacBook pros, but this model has actually made me ask myself if I should try out Samsung instead.

That’s how bad this phone is.

I wish I reviewed phones more often because all the great ones I had didn’t get my review. This phone is so awful that it needs to be said. If you’re okay with a below average battery, a horribly inaccurate autocorrect keyboard and a fingerprint reader that works about 20% of the time (with no protector) then you’ll be satisfied with this phone.

Those are the biggest misses. Smaller are things like a slow processor, a slightly confusing OS, a rear camera that takes 2 minutes to focus etc. I didn’t pick this phone. It was a “comparable replacement” for my Moto G Power.

Not even close. I hear Samsung’s flagship high end phones are worth it but this is a piece of junk. Moto fan but really not a Samsung hater. Had a Samsung Galaxy S10 for a work phone and it was amazing.

I’m just not into dropping a ton of cash on something that’ll be outdated so quickly. Moto is the way to go for mid priced quality phones.

I bought this phone on August 2019, and from the beginning, the fingerprint scanner wasn’t working properly. The camera was quite decent, but more megapixels won’t make a better camera if it is nor properly optimized.

After usage, the front camera started deteriorating A LOT and the pictures worsen over time. After three years, the battery duration is awful. If I unplug my phone, on 100% charge and not touch it at all, the battery drains at least 20% in less than an hour.

It is impossible to properly connect to a PC to move photos or music archives. The outside paint started peeling off after a year of good care, and you can see the plastic underneath. Too expensive for its worth.

Terrible phone so I don’t know where to begin. So many bugs. The smart lock rarely works and the lock screen glitches all the time. Sometimes it takes me several minutes to unlock my phone. It turns off on me for no reason, camera is delayed often, the texting literally has a mind of its own and copies words by itself or autocorrects a properly spelled word into either a word that doesn’t exist or a misspelled word.

Camera delay even in good lighting. Apps fail all the time. I’ve had this phone not 4 months and it had been a problem since day one. NOT WORTH 250. This is the second A model I’ve had and my last cheaper one was better than this A50.

That one had similar issues. Even now it’s giving me problems writing this review. I want to destroy this phone.

The moto z3 play (cheaper than this), I got for free through my phone plan, was leaps and bounds ahead of this thing. I never thought I’d be the type to have an opinion on a phone, but the experience I’ve had with this phone over the past month has left a somewhat sour taste.

From issues with a less responsive touch screen to not being able to set multiple timers, this phone has me cursing at it all day long. I’m in my early thirties, I’m not an octogenarian, but this phone sure makes me feel like one with my constant issues attempting to do basic things.

Maybe I’m spoiled and got used to the seemingly basic ammenities the Moto Z3 play offered, but having actually paid for this one (opposed to receiving it as a free upgrade valued at about half the price of this phone) I was expecting more out of it.

Other than a few oversights and difficulties navigating the device it operates as intended. I gave it three stars because, to be fair, I’m sure some of the difficulties I’m having with using this phone this is my fault, but small design issues (such as having an annoyingly small space bar during browser navigation thats taken up by a useless “.

com” button) leave me missing my cheap moto z3 play; which would let me set multiple timers from the stock app, wouldn’t bombard me with junk on the weather app, had a variety of useful gesture controls, and other basic customizations that are lacking on the Galaxy a42.

The nicest thing about this is the fresh battery that I don’t have to charge for two or three days (with my low level of usage). But, I’m sure that would be the case for most new phones that haven’t had their batteries abused yet.

Was looking for something basic, but maybe not this basic. Oh, well. Will do more research next time.

This phone is really disappointing if you want a dual sim phone. On the bestbuy website, it is one out of two phones that are listed as dual SIM ones. If you open the SIM slot, the phone actually has two SIM docks (called SIM1 and SIM2 or microSD, note that the second SIM will block the microSD slot).

Likewise, the description on the back of the box says “This device hardware can support SIM + microSD or dual SIM, however dual SIM functionality will not be available at launch. A software upgrade will be required for dual SIM functionality”.

This is highly misleading. I’ve put two working SIM cards into the phone, but the phone only recognizes one sim card at a time (the one which is in the slot SIM1). This situation doesn’t change even if you install the latest updates.

I’ve spent several hours on the Samsung hotline to solve the problem. They finally sent me to an authorized service center, where the phone’s software was flashed to the international version. None of this helped.

It seems that the phone has a single-SIM motherboard and the information shown on the website, on the SIM card slot and on the package are simply wrong. In conclusion, don’t buy this phone if you want to use its pretended dual SIM technology.

If you just want to insert one SIM, it works fine (but there are clearly cheaper phones that work equally well with just one SIM).
