20 Best Trailer For Hotshot (2022 Updated)

I purchased the running gear to make a hayrack to pull behind my collection of IH garden tractors. Shipping was fast and the 2 boxes were packed well. Assembly was easy; however, as others have mentioned a few extra holes in the tree would have been helpfull.

I ended up drilling a new hole for my application (easy to do). On the advise of others, I tightened up the steering during assembly, throwing out the undersized pins and replacing them with 3/8″ bolts and lock nuts (I had to drill the steering arm holes).

Once I put the deck on it (6. 5’x4′ from 2×6’s and 5/4 decking) it looked cute as a button. Neighborhood kids love riding on it. I look forward to lots of use out of it. Overall a very nice product, but could use a few little touches to make it great out of the box (tightened steering, extra holes, etc.

) I had no problems with these simple modifications, but others with less mechanical skills may. TIP: If adding a wooden deck, cross block the stringers so the deck is fairly stiff, but only attach the stringers to the back axle mounting ears.

This lets the gear flex over uneven terrain, but also keeps the deck strong.

good basic platform a lot can be done with it if you stay inside its capabilties ie weight capacities

First and foremost it is made in China. The only reason it got 4 stars, its not heavy duty but the design is good. Better then your standard craftsman dump cart. The wheels and tires are beefy and look like they will take the abuse.

It has good ground clearance. The dump latch seems ok. Time will tell.

Great quality trailer. Went right together and had all the necessary hardware. All holes lined up and bolted right together. The trick is not to tighten the bolts firmly until all the bolts are in. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately this item is really overrated and overpriced. Holes in the fabric after using it one time. No support in the floor. Just cheap vinyl fabric surrounding the whole thing. Definitely can’t handle the advertised 100lb limit because the fabric is so weak.

After 7 or 8 rides, the stitching is coming apart and there are 3 holes in the fabric in different places. It’s a cool design, rides smooth (don’t even realize it’s behind you) and easy to assemble/dissemble… but the hefty price tag for a “utility trailer” covered in cheap vinyl is a huge disappointment.

Especially when it’s advertised as a 100lb payload. They really need a solid floor panel and strong ballistic nylon similar to high quality luggage. Disappointing.

Love this trailer! It’s lightweight and easy to tow. Handling is great and it fits on tight trails. I have 2 dogs who were new to riding in a trailer and after the second ride, they were hooked! I added a soft bed to the bottom for additional cushion and padding.

Even without the added bulk of suspension, this trailer adds a smooth ride. Would buy again, and would buy from MEC due to their rock solid warranty. Fits 2 small-medium dogs (20-25lbs each).

Love this but we didn’t anticipate how large our puppy would get so we had to return for the Bark Ranger XL. She fit the weight range but we never considered her height. We love the look and how sturdy the Tail Wagon is.

If your dog is smaller (we have a standard goldendoodle) then I highly recommend this wagon. It attaches easily to the bike and is a dream to pull. I ride an electric bike and the Tail Wagon just glided along with me.

I bought this trailer after dumping my dog out of two wheel trailers a few times. My dog loves this trailer! I have a 45 pound Border collie. The trailer leans with your bike so any cornering speed the force is down not to the outside of the corner, my dog stands the whole time when I ride.

The only time he has been thrown from the trailer is when I crash and one time we were hit by a car ( the car was going slow ). This trailer is light and durable, I have been stopped in my tracks when I hit a rock the trailer frame got a nice ding in it, and my axle bent but the trailer held up fine.

This trailer handles the weight way better than a tag along as far as handling, but with my dog in the trailer on a technical downhill or going faster I have to stay seated to keep good control and or my legs squeezing the seat.

A beginner rider will not be able to throw 50 pounds in this and hit the trail without feeling it. The turning radius is reduced but that should be expected. Pros light weight, connects and disconnects in a second, well built, leans with the bike for pets cons I removed the kick stand, but that was due to me dragging this over rock sections on the trail, the shock is not much use as the spring rate is just too much for a 20 pound trailer and a near 50 pound dog.

You need an axle for your specific bike (not too big of a deal, find the correct axle before purchasing the trailer, they provide a link ) It would be nice to have the off road tire as an option right off the bat.

Noisy empty when my dog is running. 4 stars due to the shock, I would love to have a $250 option of an air shock.

I got the trailer a week ago. Not for use with luggage, but to take my 11 week old Vizsla pup (Traildog in training) with me on some rides. Get him used to mountainbikes and trails. I put in a dog-pillow and a liner inside the trailer and attached some lines yo attach his harnas.

He sits and stands (on trails) in the back, waving his tail and enjoying our time outside. I can’t walk past the trailer without him trying to jump in. So I think he likes it after only three rides. Riding with the trailer takes some time to get used to it.

You have to keep in mind that tight turns are no longer possible, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it. The trailer rides comfortably behind your bike, there is no noticeable imbalance caused by the trailer, even on faster (fire road) descents.

Of course you’ll notice the extra weight and if you have a moving load (like a puppy dog) the trailer will be noticeable. But my dog also needed time to get used to the trailer. On trail sections he now stands up in the trailer and is “surfing” the trail.

The trailer is very mobile and wel suited for a narrow singletrack, but keep in mind you can’t manoeuvre tight bends. So why only 4 stars. Yes, the dog likes it, the handling is very good, and I love the time spent on the trails together with my little traildog….

We’ll, the concept of this trailer is great, it is a sturdy and well thought out design. But as stated in the other review there are some (minor) setbacks. Yes the trailer is noisy on the trail, the couplings are not really tight and make noise.

Probably a downside of the manoeuvrability, so that is something I can live with. But it’s concept, being easy to put together and take-apart, has a downside. The front and rear use quick releases and plastic bearings, probably a cost saving, so I’m wondering how it will hold up in the long run.

But for this price the trailer seems a good deal, but keep in mind, it is very good but not perfect!.

I’m happy enough with the design and function of the trailer. It’s great that I can do easily attach and detach it as needed, and I’m a fan of the kick stand. The shocks work really well so it feels better on dirt than even my surly.

While it has a high weight limit, I wouldn’t suggest trying to reach it as it gets a more noticable wobble as you get above 20 lbs. My biggest gripe tho was being mislead by the product description and videos that were available at the time when I purchased it, claiming that it would come with the necessary quick release axel.

It wasn’t until 3 days after I purchased that I was updated with an email that infact would not, and that it wouldn’t be in stock for several months. Supposably this saves on manufacture waste, but it not as if the price of the product dropped to reflect the missing part, and if it’s being packaged and shipped separately I don’t see how that’s actually doing much to lessen their carbon footprint.

If that is truly their motive, I would suggest adding an axel option at purchase, so that it will be in the box or to come up with a more universal solution. It’s bitter and petty, but I had to scramble to call every bike store in my city and managed to get lucky enough to find the last one in a store more than 50 miles away.

Not something I expected to have to do after already paying 450$ for it. I feel bad for those who won’t be able to locate that axel and will now have to deal with returning it. (And not to mention the wasted fuel and labeling to do so) I hope to grow to love this trailer on my tour, but I can’t see myself wanting to buy or recommend burley in the future.

For starters, this thing is HUGE. Much bigger than I had anticipated. I haven’t tried yet but I could probably fit a third of a cord of wood in it easy. That’s a good thing. Actually much more room in the bed than I’ll ever need.

Assembly took me a half hour tops. Very easy to put together. They thought this out when they designed it. Also, ground clearance is much better than the competing models. That is important for me since this is going to be used on trails and in the woods.

Large wheels are a real plus, too. Solidly built unit. This is a real workhorse of a cart and it only weighs about 125 pounds so it increases your towing capacity. No complaints yet and we have put it through the paces.

Highly recommended. Outperforms much more expensive models I have looked at. Couldn’t be happier.

I treat this wagon terrible and it really stands up to the abuse. I am cutting down trees and delimbing above a ravine and THROW the cut logs down 10 to 20 feet into the wagon. This IS one tough wagon.

It can haul more rock than my ATV will pull up hill in 4 Low. The only thing that hurts it is backing up into something or catching a wheel on a tree. No nerf bars so watch out for that. And it rides absolutely terrible so don’t haul anything back there that can talk.

Weighs next to nothing empty so easing it around to hook up is a cinch. Make sure you get a trailer hitch for it. Assembly is easy.

I bike AND run daily even in 5 months of snow, and have had three Thule products: the Urban Glide 2 stroller, the Cougar chariot and now this. I sold the Urban Glide and the Cougar for this beauty! It’s incredibly easy to transition from bike to stroller mode, more so than the Cougar, it pushes almost as smoothly as the Urban Glide and has FANTASTIC ventilation.

Two things I would change are the brake since this one can only be done by reaching between the wheel, and for suspension. The hammock seat is as sturdy as a bench seat, but it doesn’t absorb the shock very well for gravel or running on cracks.

I’m almost always on pavement though and the kids haven’t complained. If you need a fixed jogging wheel or go off road often, it might be worth doubling your budget for the Lite, but if you’re a flat surface roller like me, it’s a fantastic lightweight trailer.

Maybe buy some WD-40 for the knob to fold it- they’re a little snug.

Purchased couple years ago and very lightly used. Safety straps looked very badly designed and not secure at all day 1. To make things worse one of the latches stopped working. Stacked. And to make it even worse, I do not think it can be replaced.

Thule does not list it as a replacement part anyway. Brake system was rarely used considering we live in flat area. Even that misfunctioned when one screw get lost and brake could not be disengaged. I fixed it but again, design is poor, that screw keeps getting lose.

Another problem is that trailer has a lot of room for stuff at the back but not enough in front for kids legs. Again, bad design. I am not saying trailer is so bad but it is not worth the money. I think it is better to purchase cheep alternative and not to be surprised with issues.

We have been using the Coaster XT for almost a year and have had nothing but good experiences. Our little guy (now almost 2 yrs old) loves it, and we utilize the secondary seat for extra clothing, stuffed animals, snacks, etc.

It is perfect for our bike rides to the Farmer’s Market, where we can quickly convert to a stroller to walk around, and pack our market goods in the back storage. It feels very sturdy, and while there isn’t anything remarkable about the shocks, it seems to be quite comfortable whether we’re on the road or an easy trail.

I also like the ability to use the screen or the wind/rain cover, depending on the weather. The only other feature that would be great to have would be some sort of shade cover. We debated getting this since we already have the Urban Glide 2 jogger, but have found both to be equally used and enjoyed.

Wry nice sturdy trailer. Build quality is very nice, the powder coating is nice and durable. I like how the wires are ran inside the boxes frame. The dove tail is really nice for loading low ground clearance equipment.

I bought this to assist a move from Nevada to Montana and then to haul outsized loads once living there. It just plain works. There were issues with runs in the paint and rust where the tie down transport chains to Tractor Supply from the production facility chipped the paint to bare metal.

I angle ground the rust to bare metal and repainted, added a spare tire carrier with tire, welded on a swing away footed tongue jack and this trailer rocks! It pulled totally stable heavily (not over) loaded at freeway speeds across two states.

It takes piles of waste to the dump just like you would expect it to. I should have gotten one of these years ago. Carry On does a credible job building an inexpensive, affordable utility trailer, just what I needed.

I deducted one star only because of the cosmetic rework I needed to perform. My recommendation: if you have a need for a small utility trailer, buy this one. Carry On earns their motto “A trailer in every driveway.

It’s a trailer. Does what it’s supposed to do. A little disappointed when I plugged in the trailer, the back right taillight was extremely dim and could not be seen in sun. The salesman tried to say it was something with my truck but I know otherwise.

Oh pulled trailers of all sizes for decades but he insisted. When I got it home I hooked it up to my other vehicle and guess what, same issue! At least the trailer is small enough that your vehicle lights show.

It would be a hassle for me to bring back. Wish they had more experience with knowledge of trailers.
