20 Best Trailers For Spinnerbaits (2022 Updated)

If you are going to fish with spinner baits and jigs, remember that if the fish aren’t totally aggressive, they may strike short. By adding a trailer hook on your rig, this gives you the extra edge to catch that fish.

Sometimes Bass are after shiny objects, and sometimes they may strike the red hook because it looks like wounded prey to them. So I carry trailer hooks in both finishes in my tackle box. These particular trailer hooks are good because the eye is large enough to slide over the spinner bait/Jigs hook without damaging the barb.

However, instead of using the tubing that comes with the hooks, I use a small circle of soft plastic. After putting the trailer hook on my rig, I get a small circle of plastic and push it on over the rig’s hook and that holds the tailer hook in place.

If you don’t have any pieces of thin sheet plastic laying around, get a sandwich bag or a freezer bag and use a hole puncher to punch out a bunch of small circles of plastic. If you have different colored plastic, like red or yellow, you might try something different that may make the fish strike! Don’t forget to sharpen your hooks before you go fishing.

For the price, you’re getting a good hook, sharp, and resists rusting. The eye on the hook is just big enough to slide over the eye of even the biggest spinnerbait hooks. instead of using the tubing, I usually slide the hook over the spinnerbait hook then put on a small piece of plastic so it swings freely.

The best way to do this is to use a paper punch on a coffee can lid to make the small plastic circles to push over the hook. Cheap to do, and easy to replace.

I have been using these hooks on my spinner baits (But not in a heavily weeded area. ) and buzz baits for at least 5 years. They are a much better price per hook than the competition. They stay on solidly in position.

The rubber tubing works fine. I have yet to lose a fish that has been hooked on the trailer. I no longer even bother looking at other brands.

Wish I would have used these sooner! After a few trips of simply catching more bass using these trailers teamed up with both a chatterbait and a spinnerbait just works! Impressed how it hangs on without constant adjustments.

This is by far the best trailer bait I’ve used in a long time . Zman did it right with these lures . They are buoyant underwater so they give a great presentation . Pickerel can’t even shred them !

Bought these to replace my stock. I use chartuse and these white ones for trailers.

Great action. Use them on a 3/8 or 1/2 oz z-man chatterbait. Caught 5 fish with it last week and the trailer was still in great condition. One of the many quality Zoom products out on the market. Put it on a white or white/chartruse chatterbait and you’ll catch some nice bass.

I bought a pkg of these because they were on sale and when they came in I had to try them out. The plastic is very soft and flexible, but extremely tough. After a couple dozen bass the one I used still looks new.

although I still consider this as a good trailer, i have not fully seen it in action since i purchased it during winter. it is, however, at a great price. hoping to see some bites in the spring. the action on this trailer is average.

it does not create so much noise in the water.

Perfect Jig trailer for the New England fresh water bodies. From large mouth to small mouth and everything in between. Well made product and lasts quite a while before you need to switch it out for a new one.

I purchased this to run as a trailer on a jig and I was pretty pleased with the result. As you can tell from the picture, the streamers are wavy and create some good fluttering motion as they fall because of it.

Moreover, they are a good length and hang out past the skirt of my jig the right amount. The only concern I have with these is that the chunk you stick the hook through is relatively small (short). As a result, there is a lot of room on the hook shank for these to slide up and down on during use.

This isn’t that critical on a jig seeing that all that goes on underneath the skirt anyway, but something to keep in mind.

I have been having issues with getting the bass to bite lately from top water to bottom fishing. It seems they have seen everything this year! In asking other fisherman around the lake how they were doing, the answer was the same.

I’ve been using Zoom products for several years now and use the swimmin chunk as a trailer on a 1/4 ounce jig and also a 3/8 ounce jig. i usually dip the legs in a chartreuse garlic dye, and most of my jigs are a shade of green ( usually a green crawfish) not sure if the bass see this as a bluegill or crawfish; only that it catches fish!! i fish an extremely clear, fairly deep lake so detail is very important.

Began using these 10 years ago on all my finesse casting jigs. The swimming chunk is very effective on the Chimpers round head jigs! I use these especially on highly pressured fisheries!

I have used these for my main jig trailer for the last 10 years. The price is unbeatable. Wide variety of color combinations to add an accent to your jig or blend in with the skirt pattern. Action on the arms is incredible.

On a finesse/ball head jig this is a big fish machine. Allows the bait to fall with control and will trigger fish on the way down. Also works great on the back of a swim jig. Can’t have too many of these.

One of the packages came factory sealed with a bonus human hair. I contacted American Baitworks directly for a replacement, and they pretty much told me to pound sand. Sorry guys, but I’m not going to do a bunch of leg work to return a poorly made product.

So, first and last purchase of this brand. Too many other alternatives to deal w/ shoddy build quality confounded w/ bad customer service.

The action of these craws is equaled only by Rage Craws, at twice the price, and the Rage craws are less durable. The incredible action of these come from the big pinchers/small arms, THEREFORE you will have tear offs.

I’ve tried different brands that are more durable, but the action is compromised. I’ve yet to find a color that doesn’t catch fish.

works great depending on time of year (Bass Fishing Only) and debt/clarity of water. I Use In -Line spinners close to river banks and creeks in Alabama-e. g. Rooster Tail; Mepps, -but easy to get hung up if do not know how to fish.

Mustad makes weedless treble hooks -use 4 not 4/0.

I’ve used this lure for nine years now, and the results and the thrill of the catch is as powerful now as it was back then. I was taken by surprise to learn that this item will be discontinued, as to me and I’m sure thousands of others we would hope that it is not discontinued.

It has always been a sure winner pulling in the bass, and this buzzzbait attracts large fish, always a nice fish Ive fished with many a friend, family member, etc and they all have seen for themselves how productive this lure is.

I picked this up with summer in mind. I’m from the PNW and thought a louder bait would attract them more. The double bladed chatter did not do that. It makes for it a high pitch chatter sence it has 2 small blades.

The single bladed chatter baits have worked better in the PNW for me cause it has more of a thumping noice.

I have been using these for years. I have caught a lot of fish with these. A good trail hook comes on them and they usually perform good out of the pack. But this year I have had two break off just behind the head.

One of them I hadn’t thrown but a couple of times and the other I had fished for an hour or so. They are a litlle pricey but I usually use these when I want a quieter approach and use a small size. I haven’t missed many fish on these.

But of course there will always be fish that hit behind the bait and you will miss em.

I fish spinnerbaits usually as a search bait. On a recent trip to Canada this past September on a lake I have fished often and found that spinnerbaits with gold blades produce well. I tied on one of these and immediately started catching fish, mostly smallmouth bass and pike.

I did catch fish on other baits, too, but I kept coming back to this one spinnerbait until I had to give it a new skirt. After getting back to Ohio, I used this same spinnerbait for locating schools of baitfish near the shore and nearby drop offs.

Continued catching fish on my “home” lake (mostly largemouth bass) with it until a embarrassing knot failure caused it to fall off. I thought that this spinnerbait was extremely durable. I have had others that needed adjusting of the wire after a big fish, but this one seldom needed any tweaking.

I did continue with a similar Terminator tandem but with the Colorado and willow leaf combo. Also produced and worked well, but I really liked the double willow leaf in gold. That’s why I am going to make sure I have backups for this one.

One more thing. The hooks on these are super sharp with what seems a slightly longer shank that translated into solid hookups and a high ratio of hookups to strikes. Plus I never used a trailer with these and they were catching fish like crazy.

I also like the way the cup is designed on their willow leaf blades, and the highly reflective polished surface.

The Good: 1. These things catch fish for sure. 2. Great trailer holder assures your trailer stays put. 3. Runs true and comes through the junk great. Also, the line rarely gets tangled in the blades.

4. For the price, you can afford to buy twice as many. 5. Great hook. The Bad: 1. They have a very thin wire, which probably helps to create more vibration, attracting more bites. Unfortunately, this makes them a bit fragile for throwing them in really heavy cover.

Having said that, I can accept this fragility because of the price, and the way they fish. I will definitely be buying more.

These have great vibration like the past titanium models but the steel wire used does not hold up. 3 of the 7 I’ve bought broke at either the wire eye or where the wire meets the head. 2 after moderate use with medium tackle, one brand new one on a big smallmouth but just 14 lb line and medium casting tackle.

Unfortunately I can’t trust using them anymore and I contacted Rapala to request a change to stronger wire I hope they will consider.

The zinger is the best fall time lure especially with wind blown pockets on main creek beds on your local river. The sunrise craw is the best color and the next best is the white zinger. Sends great vibrations through the water column and also imitates a school of baitfish.

So far my favorite spinnerbait in the bass lure industry. Best on 15lb googan flourocarbon.

Ok, but I miss Uncle Josh Pork frog baits. These new rubber frogs tear up after a short use time while the pork frogs lasted all season. I use these for jig and pig baits. After a half dozen fish or so these new rubber baits have a tendency to pull through the hook, sometimes resulting in loosing them all together, while the Uncle Josh Pork Frog baits could last all season.

The largest trailer they make for the jig. The bass go after this trailer because of its shape and darker color. Only negative side is the cost. Five for 3. 49. With the Strike King Pro Rattling Jig it is.

70 plus 3. 49. Expensive combination, but will still pay it because of the results.

This an excellent bait. The bad part is basspro bossier city has a tiny section for zoom jig trailers and normally it is nearly empty. Customer service is getting bad. I have been a long time customer but it’s about time to shop somewhere else!.

I like these baits always seem to get bites when other spinner baits fail. that being said ive had several wire breaks on decent fish including losing a nice kicker fish in a recent bass tourney. worst part is this one was brand new and that was the first fish on the bait.

very disappointing since it cost me in the tourney and I paid almost 12. 00 for the bait. I use a lot of booyah baits but they need to step up the wire on these baits or reduce the price.

Great spinner baits, maybe the best I’ve ever used in over 40 years of bass fishing and I fish spinner baits year round. Sharp hook and runs true.

This is a very high quality spinnerbait. I fished two versions all spring and I don’t know what it is about these but they get bit when others were not. Hooks and blades are high quality and the wire seems very durable.

These are competitive with other brands, and has been in stock more reliably. The action I got on Bladed jigs and spinnerbaits was good. The actual material on a scale of soft to firm is somewhat in the middle but favoring soft.

They won’t fall part or get destroyed easily, but are still soft enough to provide great fluttering on the trailing ends.

I tried the big salty chunk for the first time this spring. I made myself switch from the pork frogs that I have used for years when bass fishing with hair and plastic jigs. One reason I changed was the cost of the pork frogs and the fact they are hard to remove once on a jig.

I use Jacks garlic juice and my favorite 1/2 oz football head deer hair jig and the Zoom chunk and catch as many if not more than with the higher cost pork frog. The ZOOM chunks hold up very well to fish and are very eazy to put on and take off a jig hook.

The zoom chunks have replace the pork. I fish at night for bass and a black jig with a black or balck blue Zoom chunks is my favorite bass bait for the night bite. Good luck fishing.

I bought this to use for stocked pond trout, each color works in different conditions; primarily gold/copper tones when it’s cloudy and silver tones when it’s sunny. These are the first spinners I throw when I show up, and I rarely have to switch out for something different.

The fish always bite.

I discovered Panther Martins a few years back and swear by them now. The blade design is ideal for all speeds of retrieving, this blade will even turn as the lure drops. Color patterns all good though my most productive are yellow on black and red on yellow.

Wwter clarity and cloud cover will have big affect on selection. Trout, bass, pike the list goes on, I’ve caught them all with these.

I once pinched down the barbs on a 1/4 oz. gold spoon, black body, yellow spots PM, fishing in the Sierra Nevadas. Conditions were perfect, so I wanted to see how many trout I could catch in about a 1 1/2 mile stretch of stream.

The fish just hammered it. About 5 hours later I had caught 143 trout. mostly native. rainbows, Browns and some Brooke’s. It’s the only lure I use when trout fishing. 1/8 oz. when the water gets low.

This spinnerbait put spinnerbaits into my tackle box. I had bought a couple of cheap bargain bin spinnerbaits to learn on, and never caught any fish on them, and was becoming turned off the entire thing.

Later I bought this KVD spinnerbait in sexy shad on a whim to try something else with a spinning blade, because I was catching bass on inline spinners, but found that I couldn’t throw it around weeds or sticks or else I would ultimately end up losing lures.

At that point I began catching fish on spinnerbaits. This sexy shad spinnerbait has colours more in line with local bluegills, albeit brighter, and a great big shad dot to complete the illusion. Good spinnerbaits produce a good amount of vibration and don’t keel over when they run, and this is a good spinnerbait.

The blades spin freely, and it’s easy to get them started. The skirt has a nice flare to it and moves easily in the water. Bass jump right on it. Tandem blades are the do anything spinenrbait blade setups, and it is also easier to feel the vibration than a double willow.

Out of the package it comes with a trailer hook which ultimately ends up being what most fish get hooked on. Hooks are sharp and solid. Swivels are robust. Bait has stood up to multiple fish, some 3lbs, hoping to at least triple it’s life time at this point, so it remains to be seen, but it is my current go-to.

Love the colors and painted blades, but the length and angle of the wire impedes the primary hook by running above it. Don’t take off the trailer hook if you use these. Personally I prefer running a large trailer for more vibration which gets caught in a trailer hook, so this design isn’t right for me.

This bait excels. The trailer skirt is more realistic than most trailers I have added on other spinnerbaits. It has a nice wiggle action to it. I have caught several 5lb+ fish with this bait, including a 6lb kicker fish that allowed me to place top 10 in a 170 boat tourney.

Don’t worry about it snagging in grass because of the trailer hook. it rarely snags anything. The only problems i have had is the trailer hook would occasionally get snagged on the blade. I just had to bend the wire very slightly to overcome that.

Also, the wire has weakened after catching 30+ fish on the SAME spinnerbait! (They seem to love the white color) Other than that, this spinnerbait is one of the best I have used. I will be adding more to my tackle box.
