20 Best Transmission Cooler 4L60E (2022 Updated)

2016 f150 with the 2. 7 motor. Intercooler is junk. Truck from factory ran a 1/2 inch hose. This cooler seems to run a 3/8 hose size. Not only are you downsizing the hose. It’s only a 2 row intercooler.

Supposed to be made for performance/heavy duty. If you plan on doing alot of towing and or drive with lead foot. Stay away from this and invest in something like bandm or tru cool intercoolers. All other products I’ve had from mishimoto were great.

Very Happy with this purchase! Great porduct. Easy installation, very versital on mounting anywhere on vehicle. This transmission cooler has decreased my trans temp in tow dramatically! I will purchase again for my second truck.

This heavy duty fan works perfect as expected! I put a stage 2 cam in my 02 Automatic (with the stock stall for now) and it has created more heat than the stock cam did. The car was keeping cool but the auto transmission was running hotter than normal, so I got this external cooler and it’s just what it needed!! Well worth it with the fan!!.

1st. Before purchase I called BM Direct and ask some basic information. I placed the Order and before delivery I needed a few other questions answered and got different answers again. However when I got the Transmission cooler and the Gauge Kit I what I was told and what the instructions was again different.

But having many years of Automotive experience behind me I was able to install correctly. The one main issue is that the fitting supplied for the Gauge fot the Temperature sensor is sized for US tubing diameters.

My vehicle is a import and alos has a flared end. So I installed the Supplied fitting by using steel brake line and then installing hose to each end. But the fitting under normal instructions would form a ground to the steel line coming from the transmission.

So with my installation no ground to body of the T Fitting. Which in turn mean the gauge will not work. I determined this and the instructions do not mention this. I grounded the brass fitting to the body of the vehicle and the gauge works.

BM need to have better instructions and staff answer the phone. transmission are a huge expense to rebuild and replace and it would seem they would have better trained staff and instructions. (Also the length of hose supplied or the wire for the gauge is not long enough) Product Excellent/Staff & Instruction Poor.

I installed this two weeks ago on my 1998 4Runner 4×4 Limited with rear differential locker in preparation for a move from El Paso to Louisville. We towed Uhaul’s 6×12′ dual axle trailer and never had any issues with the transmission i.

e. shifting or overheating. It comes with a bunch of hardware that I personally didn’t use or need but maybe a different vehicle application would end up making use of them. B&M states that if your going to mount it vertically then to put the transmission hose that is coming from the transmission on the bottom port to eliminate air bubbles from being trapped.

I did this and haven’t had an issue to date. You’ll need more transmission hose and for my 4Runner you’ll use 3/8″ and just cinch the clamps down tight on the cooler’s ports since they’re 5/16″. No leaks to report to date! Make sure you get a Derale Remote transmission filter too if you’re a true man.

I have a ’68 Camaro with a 400hp small block. My transmission temps were getting up to 220 degrees as I only had the lines running to the radiator. I ran the lines through the radiator and this cooler.

With this cooler, I haven’t seen it over 180 and most of the time runs below 170. This product was very easy to install. Just went on to the front of my aluminum radiator. All of the hardware was included which made it that much easier.

I highly recommend this product and am very pleased with it.

Very affordable and comes with everything needed for a quick and easy install. Took a total of 10 minutes to install and doesn’t leak a drop. I would consider this more “medium duty” being its a bit small but overall no issues whatsoever.

The Acura Tl 2000 has the most problematic transmission from Honda, some had issue with overheating, slip, Torque converter issues, shudder and many more; the small warmer that comes from factory is not capable to cool the transmission in Texas you can easy reach the 100 F ambient temperature in summer! the Compressor Works Transmission Cooler 911677 (Hayden 677) I have been driving my car for one year the transmission reach 200.

Well made product. I purchased to use in my 6. 2 Denali. I tow both an RV and boat with the SUV and wanted the temps of the transmission to run cooler than had been. Temperatures are averaging 10 to 20 degrees cooler on average than with just the stock cooler.

I have not yet put the cooler under the strain of high elevation pulling but suspect as the load increases the performance of the cooler will as well.

Installed in front of the radiator and condenser on a Ford Truck w/ C4 trans that was running at temps ~210 F. After installation temperature dropped to ~180 F. I was using an infrared temp gun to measure the temperature.

Installation took an hour or so. The kit didn’t have an adapter fitting that fit my radiator correctly but it is a universal cooler so that is to be expected. Overall quite happy with the product. It has only been installed for a month so I can’t speak to the longevity at this time.

I purchased this for my 2000 Cherokee right hand drive mail jeep that ran really hot. it helped but also ended up installing two vents in the hood & that seemed to fix the pronlem I had with the heat soak rough running & sputtering.

I also had fhe dealer move rhe injectors as suggested in a bulletin but that did nothing.

I bought this unit as a replacement for the factory installed unit on my 2006 Chevy Silverado Z71 LT 4WD with the 5. 3L V8 gas engine after the original one was damaged from a deer deciding to end his life by throwing himself in front of my truck as I was driving 60 mph down the highway.

Deer suicide in my area has gotten out of control so I was looking for an affordable solution to repair my vehicle (again) and this cooler seems to have done the trick! The install was about as easy as I could have hoped for: 1 – Disconnect the steel lines connecting to the original cooler 2 – Remove the bolts holding the existing cooler in place 3 – Install the new cooler per the included instructions – I mounted it vertically, centered under the hood latch with the tubing connections facing down 4 – I cut and flare the factory steel lines (small tubing cutter and flaring tool bought at O’Reilly’s) 5 – Cut the rubber hose included with the new cooler to length and clamp onto the steel lines Whole thing took less than an hour.

This cooler comes with everything you need to install it aside from the tubing cutter and flaring tool (if connecting to existing steel lines).

The supplied hose is too narrow to slip onto the transmission cooler lines on 2006 Ford Explorer XLT 4. 6L V8 and the “zip connectors” are not zip ties so they do not attach to anything and slide right through.

I have to figure out a way to make this work somehow. Frustrated.

I like it, my car runs faster because the automatic transmission fluid in my Nissan Altima does not overheat. And the transmission will last longer.

This is a great cooler. perfect fit behind the grill and in front of the other radiators! Easy hook up with the 90* Fragola -6 A/N fittings! No leaks, easy install,. could not have need easier!! I needed another 4 feet of hose to complete the job.

(Chevy van). make sure you use TRANSMISSION HOSE! Measure first, measure twice, cut once!! NO sharp turns in the hose! I used Protective Black Split Wire Loom around the hose at all sharp edges and at any wear spots!! Looks fantastic and very professional!!.

Used in my 2008 6. 4 CCSB powerstroke F250 on my built 5r110. Keeps rans nice and cool even when under full throttle on beefy race tunes. The brackets included are useful but i ended making my own to be able to mount in the location i wanted.

The build quality is amazing, and the included wiring harness is top notch, fused relayed and covered with the plastic wiring shroud top to bottom. I bought all Earls fitting and hose to plumb the cooler, but the included hose is really nice rubber thats 400psi cabable.

Great kit for the money, would higly recommend this to anyone needing good cooling on their diesel transmission.

I’m not sure how much it actually helped cool because I put it on the same time I put gauges, and a deeper trans pan on. But I’m sure glad I did because I would hate so see what they got to before I put the second cooler on.

Only thing I have a problem with is the plug in for the fan. I could not find the plug and set up for the fan to kick in on a thermostat. So I just manually wired it to a switch that I can turn on and off myself.

All in all it’s a good product but maybe a little expensive for what it is.

Great build quality. Very well packed. The fan pulls a lot of air and is not to loud. But there were no stickers or any information in the box just the cooler. The fan duse not have the bd sticker on it like the shown in the ad.

Besides that good so far. (And if you click the no lines it comes with nothing but cooler)The fittings are a -10an if anyone was trying to find out. Have not installed yet will update when Installed.

When I opened the box, I seen the oil cooler, tubing, some weird zip tie type of things to mount it, and my favorite part, it had these little foam squares with an adhesive side that way you can mount it wherever.

The fins were all in brand new shape when I got it, and summit bubble wrapped the heck out of it. Ill buy another one if I need to. Mounted it to my built 400ex to keep the oil cooler and it dropped the temps more than I ever expected.

It appears to be a well made item but the lack of installation items could be a hinderance for some. It would be helpful to include them or asd a reccomendation what can be used. There may be in the suggested parts section and i didnt notice.

Very nice product. Went with this for the AN connections. Did not need the cheesy hose clamp kits made by others at a higher price. Came in a nice card package that will hang nicely on the wall out of the way until install time.

This cooler would not keep my transmission cool. Before I bought it, I emailed Derale asking for what cooler to buy. I explained to them that I am going to install it on a 91 Chevy 3500 454 with a 4l80e and I will be towing a camper that weights around 8000lbs.

They recommended this cooler as a stand alone cooler. On the way back from my first trip when I got to some red lights the transmission temp maxed my gauge out at 250 Degrees. I checked and the fan was working on the unit.

The transmission was toped off with fluid. I reached out to tech support and they had me check the in and outlet temp on the cooler. The cooler was dropping the temp about 21 degrees. They said that that is all the cooler can do and if I wanted more I would need to buy another cooler.

Now I have a bunch of time and money in something that doesn’t keep up.

Not a complete kit, which it would be nice if you had the items related to the one being purchased so the buyer could easily get the correct AN fittings and oil adaptor kits. Not to mention more sales on your end.

Just seems logical to have items related to the product being purchased. I’m suggesting you add that to your website, would be better if you had kit building options.

Installed this in a couple hours. The kit came with everything I needed and more. I used my own AN fittings and lines for routing purposes but what a great unit. the little thermo switch worked perfectly and really kept the trans temps low even though I mounted it in a place with no regular air flow.

This is supporting a 4l80E, behind a mild 6. 0 LS, with a 2800 stall converter, 50″ ag tires and Rockwell axles. Was really please that the cooling fan was not running all the time. Great unit!.

I researched a lot of trans coolers and found this model by Derale one of the best. It’s a quality made unit and includes everything needed to install it in my 2002 Avalanche. Heat is the main killer of automatic transmissions, and even tho my pickup had the cooler in the radiator and oem optional towing package which included a small trans cooler in front of the radiator; the transmission still ran much too hot when pulling my car trailer.

I’ve since rebuilt the transmission, added the deep 4×4 trans oil pan and filter, this Derale oil cooler, and a transmission oil temp gauge. Now I can monitor the temperature while towing, however since adding this oil cooler the temps are always quite low.

Bought this due to the black finish, size, and the stronger fin and plate design. Trans Cooler is great size to fit into tight places. The temperature drop in my setup was considerable. You can feel the differance between the incoming fluid and cooled out going fluid on the cooler.

Being Aluminum it is easy to fabricate a mount for it as well as it is not very heavy. Only negative is the included fitting adapter seemed a little flimsy for offroad use so I used an existing fitting.

Great cooler! At least twice the size of the factory unit. Only issue was the installation of the hoses. They were extremely tight to get on the cooler barbs and the lines from the truck.

Our transmission temperature light was coming on. We installed this trans cooler and the problem was eliminated immediately. We couldn’t be happier with how this worked out. The employee that helped us always goes above and beyond to make customers satisfied.

High quality Hayden Heat hustler has found a happy home on my GS1100 Suzuki where it houses high temp. engine oil while it lowers it’s heat level.

Product comes with everything I needed for the job. I did buy some extra hose and clamps just in case. Used this to replace the “cooler” hard line on my Malibu’s power steering as it had corroded and was leaking.

Excellent cost to effectiveness ratio over replacing the actual line. Plus installation was a breeze.

This is a quality built piece for the money. I haven’t towed a load with the truck since installation, but it seems to cool well. I bought it because of the mounting tabs, which worked much nicer than zip ties through another heat exchanger.

The instructions could have been a little more detailed. Derale’s tech support was very helpful, though, and after a few questions the installation went great.

I bought this to use as an after cooler for my 80gal 5hp ingersolrand air compressor. It’s connected between the compressor and the tank with stainless lines with an air filter with automatic drain before it goes into the tank.

Works great for cooling the hot compressed air and collecting the water before it goes into the tank. Been about a year since it’s been installed now.

I purchased this cooler as a transmission cooler for my 2004 Silverado. Installation was easy and everything was included. I did make some special brackets for my installation. The cooler does reduce the temperature of the transmission when I am pulling my travel trailer.

Universal kit, easy to install. You just need to research a little too find out which line is going to the radiator, not back to the transmission. I cut that line apporopriately and inserted this cooler in front of the radiator.

I do recommend using an electric auxiliary fan with this. And don’t bypass the radiator trans cooler if you can avoid it. Towing used to create a hot floorboard in my truck. Not so anymore.

Must have for 700r4. I used this to in a 1984 K10 lifted with 37 tires to help adapt to Overdrive had to buy two extra adapter fittings to connect the rubber hose from the cooler to the braided line fittings.

Works excellent is a must-have recommend installing Downstream of radiator cooler. Cheap way to double the lifespan of the 700 R4 Transmission.

Used to add cooling to hydro boost for brakes and power steering. Light weight. Hose was easy to slide on cooler. Hose clamps were good quality compared to most. Would like if had better mounting options then the plastic pull through ties they send you but otherwise good product.

I was skeptical about the condition having read prior reviews but it arrived in perfect condition, no bent fins and with complete parts. To make the install appear cleaner I purchased some tubing and ran a new hard line to the cooler with a small piece of hose to connect but this was just for aesthetics.

Overall very pleased.

Product works satisfactorily, application wasn’t a match for my car even though it was listed. Made it work and it functions well. Fins along both edges of the cooler were very bent upon opening the original packaging.

This is not a direct bolt in on this truck you will need a grinder to cut the bracket on the front of the truck so it will fit in the right spot. I also bought the Fleece tranny lines and the fitting on the driver side kept leaking until I put teflon tape on it.

Just wish it would have fit right in like they said without the extra work. It looks better then stock but it’s still running at the same temp on my truck.

Mounted in front of radiator. Looks trick and gets plenty of air. Was very easy to plumb trans lines in that position.

I put this cooler on my 98 4Runner and the install went perfect. The kit had everything I needed to install the cooler, including additional mounting options not used. Very well made product, would definitely use again, and refer to friends.

Dropped the temperature in the radiator 5 degrees in the 34 Ford. As you all know anytime you can lower temp from 200 to 195 is a good thing.
