20 Best Truck For Camping (2022 Updated)

Recently purchased dual fuel 15000 watt portable. There was a loose connection on the hot side of the battery, but this is something that a proper pre-start checkout should find. So no problem. Generator started the first time and runs well.

Electric starter is strong and the battery has good capacity. We did a main service back-feed connection that complies with local code for the house. We use a 50 amp pigtail from straight blade (generator outlet) to 4 wire Hubbell twist lock on the back-feed connection.

So far, I consider this purchase to be a great value. It is not as quiet as my old Honda, but at 15000 watts, it can do the whole house (minus range/oven). The large fuel tank and propane option is handy for here in South Florida.

It is early, but this was a great choice for us.

This machine is a beast, seems well built and arrived in great condition, no problems. Added oil and connected battery and it started right up. I have only run for about 10 minutes on propane (in order to avoid leaving gas to get old in the tank) but everything seems fine.

The only difficulty is inevitable with a machine of this capacity. Its HEAVY. Looking forward to not needing the unit due to power failures, but current energy policies leave me fearful that reliability is suffering.

I only wish that there was a cover available for this large unit.

Purchased the generator to upgrade from my 7500w unit. Wanted a little more power to keep things running during the winter Ice and snow storms that the Poconos are known for. Ordered and delivered 13 days later.

Box was in great shape ,no damage! After some minor assembly , wheels, battery connections oil, I was ready to fire it up. Connected a 40lb Lpg tank checking for any leaks, I turned the key ,and it fired up on the first try.

A powerful generator, a little pricey but well worth the comfort and security during a long power outage!.

I own numerous Yeti products, but this is my first hard cooler. I purchased this model in the blue color at the Chicago Yeti store. It was extremely helpful to be able to compare different cooler sizes in person, and the sales crew there was very knowledgeable.

I like this size as it fits perfectly in multiple configurations behind the 3rd row in my SUV and allows for additional luggage. It is also the maximum weight (when filled) that I’m comfortable routinely lifting – though it is heavy when it’s full.

The handle and wheels are a great addition to this cooler! The wheels roll smoothly. The lid and latches are standard Yeti – great build and quality. For a fun experiment, I purchased 2 bags of “sacrificial ice” and put them in the cooler I week prior to a trip.

The cooler was in my kitchen with a constant 72deg external temperature. I started the stopwatch on my wrist to see what would happen. Nothing terribly scientific, but each day I checked the ice a few times.

1-week in, I still had about 1/3 of my ice remaining. So, I emptied the water, put some Yeti-Ice in the bottom, kept the remaining 1/3 of my “sacrificial ice” instead of putting in new ice, and packed the cooler with food and beverages for my weekend trip.

None of the items I put in the cooler for my trip were pre-chilled. The cooler got good use on the trip – the kids could easily open the cooler during our drive and used it like a car refrigerator during the 3-day weekend trip.

When I got home, I emptied the remaining food and beverage cans, but there was still ice remaining. I decided to wait to see how long it would last. It turns out, 1 day shy of 2 weeks! Not only was there ice during this entire time, but the internal temperature of the cooler remained at or below safe refrigerator temperatures.

This is far more of a buffer of temperature stability and food safety than I had anticipated and is amazing with respect to ice preservation. While this was not a scientific experiment, it was a practical one for me.

Like some, I had read about the legendary Yeti ice retention with these products. But this cooler far exceeded my expectations!.

Yeti, years after releasing the tundra haul still hasn’t released a basket or divider for their cooler because they cut corners and used an old mold for the interior. We spent hundreds of dollars on the newest release wheeled collar and here we are years later and they still won’t support accessories for a cooler that contains no disclaimer about the accessories.

Because this cooler is on wheels and designed to be at an angle when rolling it absolutely needs a divider, everything shifts when it tips. Then because they don’t sell a basket you can’t keep your delicate produce, or eggs, or anything for that matter out of the ice and water.

I was a loyal stanch supporter of Yeti till now. Bad on them. It takes absolutely nothing. NOTHING, to design a basket and divider for this cooler that even has a groove for a divider. Shame on you YETI, you’ve lost a customer, supporter, and advocate for your brand.

DO NOT BUY THIS COOLER.

I bought this cart as I am an older person, and needed something strong enough to carry trash that needed to be taken out to the dumpster in front of my building. This car looked great when it arrived and for a year, it worked great.

I had a hard time getting it up and down the few concrete steps in front of my building, but this wasn’t too difficult to do, and didn’t seem to damage or compromise the cart in any way. Due to a recent illness, I didn’t use the cart in over a month.

There was some debris that had been sitting in it, but nothing too heavy. The reason I purchased the cart was that the description said it could hold 225 pounds. What I put in the cart never- ever- even came near 225 pounds.

This morning, I went to take out the load of debris, as I was feeling better. As I started to pull the cart into the hall, I noticed it was acting oddly. I had to wrestle it to get it to move even a foot.

By “wrestle” I mean it was not turning, and only seemed able to move back and forth reluctantly. I soon saw why. The wheels are at the bottom of an upright, vertical piece of metal. As I looked at my cart, I could see that the wheels were tilted sideways, and I couldn’t move the cart at all when they did this- which was constantly.

The upright columns of black metal- like a tube- in the photos are attached at the bottom near the wheel itself, and then attached at the top, under the corner of the liner. Except that these upright pieces of metal had warped, and were no longer upright, or attached to anything at the top, where the end of the upright thing is covered by a corner of the liner.

So- the cart is now useless. I removed the liner, and tried bending the uprights back to where they should go, but I was unable to do so. It was as if the cart had been overloaded at one point with heavy stuff and sat for a long time and warped.

Except that- that didn’t happen. For some unknown reason, the cart will not go into its original configuration in the photos. I’m at a complete loss as to why this happened. As I said, I didn’t overload the cart and leave it sitting, which would probably cause it to warp, and I didn’t lend it to anyone who abused it and caused it to “wilt” and for the wheels to bend sideways.

And- a sideways wheel will not turn. This is such a disappointment, because as an older person on a fixed income, I’m going to have to wait until I can save up to buy a new (different model) cart. And I can’t lift and carry my garbage bags to the dumpster, so I will have to now pay someone to do this.

So the sudden failure of this cart is a huge inconvenience. I cannot in good faith recommend this cart, and would urge you to purchase one with a different structure. Before it started collapsing in on itself, this cart worked well- hence the two stars.

But its sudden failure for no reason is a huge red flag, and I would buy something else.

I bought this wagon a couple of years ago but never wrote a review until today. The wagon is one of those things that you don’t always need but when you need it, you NEED it. It has come in handy over the last couple of years, but yesterday it was just wonderful.

I went to one of those huge outdoor markets yesterday (Green Dragon in Lancaster PA). This place is massive. It has a flea market, fresh Amish produce stands and hundreds of sellers. You can spend hours there.

I had to park my car in a gravel parking lot far away. With the wagon, I was able to purchase things I would not otherwise have been able to purchase. I bought a massive summer planter for our porch along with two hanging plants, a watermelon and dozens of other things (large and small) that I would not have been able to carry.

(The planter alone weighs about 30 pounds. ) Even with the crowds, a full wagon and a gravel parking lot, I had no problem getting everything safely into my car. This wagon is a fantastic product – well made, with a great design.

This is my all time best purchase for college!!!! MUST BUY! It saved sooo many trips going back and forth and I honestly used it all year. This was perfect for college move in and it made everything so effortless.

I am a heavy packer so this was a necessity for me! All my roommates ended up borrowing it to move in and we used it at the end of our last semester to move things out. We also used it throughout the whole year to bring our groceries up to our apartment! THIS IS A MUST BUY FOR SURE!!!! Our wagon also made trips back home for holidays easier and less time consuming.

This wagon folds up perfectly and fits easily in a dorm or apartment/house or even in the back of your car. Before moving to college I questioned buying this but I decided to order it a few days before move in and it was the best decision I could have made!! NO REGRETS! I might seriously buy another for my move in this year.

The long and the short of it is although this generator is on the heavy side, it is one the best inverter generatos on the market. Direct competition to the Honda 3000i, this iQ3500 is quieter, has more features, looks better and is half the price.

I purchesed my iQ3500 to power our 30A Springdale 5th wheel camper and I couldn’t be more pleased. I wanted a generator that would power the RV properly, but even higher on the priority list was the sound – I wanted a very quiet generator.

This generator is deffinietly quieter than all 3 of the Honda inverter generator’s in the groups we’ve camped with so far. I spent weeks reading and watching reviews on a plethora of different generators and these Generac’s were consistently in the top.

The only complaints with them was weight and some reporting poor quality control, however, I guess I got a good one. The fit and finish is exactly what you’d expect from an American made product. I love the looks of this thing, the fuel gauge, output readings, estimated remaining run time, electric start, very strong Econo Mode and the 30A plug.

This unit runs the entire RV in Econo Mode with no problem at all. It kicks the A/C on without issue (no soft-start installed) – just a slight dimming of the RV lights when it kicks in as you’d expect.

With a little over 200hrs on ours so far, here’s what we’ve found: -Super super quite for a gas powered machine. -Rated at 14hrs run time at 25% capacity – we are easily able to achive this with the RV if we’re not using the A/C.

-Rated at 9hrs run time at 50% load, we usually still see 12hrs with lots of A/C use. -I only run premium fuel in it and it starts perfectly every time, it’s even easy to start with the pull-rope. -It is also very easy to maintain.

I highly recommend this Generator.

The iQ3500 Generac generator is awesome. It provides superior power while maintaining the low noise output of the 2000-2500 Watt generators. I slept like a baby with the generator 2 feet from my truck camper.

It had no problem handling the load of my internal/external lighting, refrigerator, water pump, coffee maker and air-conditioner all at the same time. It ran for 12. 5 hours straight on a full tank of gas.

The only con is the weight of the unit. It can be handled by one person, but you can’t carry it to far. Also if you are small, you may need a cart to get it where you need it. Considering the versatility, power output, and low noise profile (impressive), I would buy again it is well worth the money.

This is our 4th Generac product (and counting). Having installed a 22kW Generac Guardian as our whole-home backup generator, we no longer needed our Generac XG6500, which we donated to the in-laws. We did, however need a mid-sized generator to power our hunting camp and to handle remote farm work.

The iQ3500 filled that need perfectly. Unbelievably quiet for the hunting cabin and transfers easily into the bed of a side-by-side for off-grid power tool use. The 3500 ran a circular saw and hammer drill with no lag or audible burden.

Sensitive enough to charge devices via USB. Only downside (as mentioned in other reviews) is the spark arrestor being misaligned with the plastic grate, which may become deformed over time but doesn’t seem to impact performance.

I recently purchased the compact truck tent. So far I have used it once for a two night trip. Tent works well, seems pretty reliable. After I ordered I read some of the 1 & 2 star reviews. So before I actually went camping I set the tent up twice.

First time I just put in the 2 main poles (slowly) and let the tent sit for a couple hours. A few days later I slowly assembled and put on my truck and let it sit for a few hours. Not sure if taking these steps eliminated any issues but it gave me peace of mind.

Why I gave this 4 & not 5 stars. I had a small amount of trouble setting it up by myself and I would like a small vent at the top of the tent and not rely on windows or door for that.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have several smaller Jackeries, and was hesitant to pull the trigger on the 1500 due to the price. However, I was able to get a good enough deal on it, and this is big enough to run my home furnace off of so I got it as temps dropped.

A review on this could get really into the weeds, it seems like most folks are facing these tradeoffs vs. other brands of a similar size: (1) This standard lithium type battery vs. newer LiFe batties.

I did look at newer LiFe battery units in other models, and they do have some advantages. However, they are just a bit more expensive, and a LOT heavier. The Jackery 1500 weighs about 35 pounds, the LiFe ones I was looking at were slightly larger and almost double the weight.

I wanted grab and go, where my wife and kids could also lug it around. If I was looking for a dedicated unit that was going to stay in camper, or needed more power and wanted to stack/link units, I might have gone with others.

For more casual / camper / mobile use, I feel comfortable this unit was the better one for me and have already appreciated its weight. (2) Only 3 USB plugs. I agree that more would have been nice, but this ended up not being a deal breaker for me.

We have enough dongles (and smaller Jackeries) that it would not be too much work to charge a bunch of smaller USB devices at once. This is a BIGGER unit, you can charge a furnace off of it in the winter, or a regular fridge off of it in the summer if the power goes out.

That is its niche. I have a ton of ways I can charge my cell phones in an emergency, and the three USB ports will likely be enough for me 95% of the time. You will always face many trade-offs with different units, brands, battery types, etc.

There is not a perfect one for all situations. If you are looking for a fairly portable (for 1500 w hour units) battery that can handle just about any camping scenario, and a good deal of home emergency use (furnace, fridge, microwave, sump pump, etc.

) this will do you just fine. If on the other hand you are hard core off the grid and looking for something you are going to be using weekly, with frequent complete discharges, you may want to look at an approriately sized LiFe Bluetti.

Be prepared for a much heavier unit. One bonus for Jackery is they have some of the best solar panels out there, and if you don’t have any solar panels yet, you can’t go wrong with the Jackery ones. With that said, you do need to get adapters if you have other solar panels already that you want to use with the Jackery.

They use proprietary connections 🙁 I would suggest that if you are new to all this, or are looking for simple, Jackery is a great way to go. If you are more advanced you’ll want to compare to your unique use/need.

The Jackery may still come of better for you (as it did for me), but I am not a Jackery zealot and it can pay to do your research. Nothing worse than shelling out this amount of money and have it not fit your needs.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis will run my natural gas instant hot water heater for the house long enough to get all of the family ready for the day. My tankless water heater is gas but still needs about 60 watts to run while it is heating water, this equals more than 4 hours of constant hot water.

It will also keep our cellphones charged up, 4 phones equal to about 29 hours per device in this, obviously if you use a gaming laptop or some work laptops it’s only about 2-3 hours of battery for that device.

As you can start to see your use case makes this an awesome device. I wouldn’t bother trying to keep my fridge on with this, mine is really efficient and only uses about 120W to keep it at temp (it pops up when you open the door, and it has to cool the inside back down) that equates to a little over 2 hours.

Not worth it to me. But what this guy is absolutely perfect for is a little bit of camping or even staying at someone’s house that is so old that there is only one outlet in the guest room. It will easily run a travel CPAP charge a phone and charge a watch through the night.

Pretty much this is an outlet that I can put wherever for small things. Another use case for this was running the sound system an outdoor wedding reception. It was a small sound system (2 larger speakers, mixer box, and two wireless mics).

I ran the system for about 5 hours and used about 50% of the battery. 290Whr is nice but one thing to keep in mind is the inverter. This has a 200W continuous output and a 400W instantaneous output. This is important to keep in mind.

I have a 300W travel water heater that won’t work with this since it can only handle 200W on a constant basis. Pretty much having this size one just makes me want a larger one. One that could handle my projector, smoker, and other stuff that I would like to use where an outlet isn’t always convenient.

The solar part of this is a bonus, no it doesn’t charge it up like you get when you plug it into the wall, but the fact that it can charge up when your out of power and you don’t have to go anywhere (say to get gas) is rather convenient.

I love solar but I’m not sold on the cost effectiveness of it completely, I am sold on the advantages of a “battery generator” like this versus a gas generator with the ease of use (my 3-year-old has figured out how to plug the tablet into it and charge it), quietness, and overall package.

But just like with a gas generator, you need to figure out your power needs before you buy one. I love readout that shows the instantaneous watts being used. This one has kind of helped me figure out which size I would actually need if I wanted to use it with my smoker which uses about 200w continuously so at a 4-hour smoke I need an 800Whr battery generator at the minimum.

Overall, I love the handle on top that makes it easy to grab, the instantaneous power readout, the individual on buttons for the type of power output you want, and the solar option. I also love that it comes with a cord to charge it from the car and house.

There are two cons to this device, the 200w continuous output, I wish it was higher; and I wish it had a 30W or more USB C output.

IšverstiShow in original languageWhile I got this primarily as a back-up power source for my CPAP machine in case of a power outage I can see using this a lot around the house and outdoors. I’m also an amateur radio operator and will be bringing this along to power radios on field days.

Our family likes to play Pokemon Go (yes, still) and we meet up with friends at the park on event days. I can definitely see this massive power bank being really popular with everyone. Jackery says a typical phone can be recharged 25 times.

Or, in this case, 25 people can charge up throughout the day. In the mean time it can be used to power up a small min-fridge (the kind that run on 12 volts and can be used in a car) or a radio for most of the day.

While I’m not a camper, this seems like it would be amazing for running some LED lighting to see at night. I expected it to be much heavier than it actually is. With that much battery capacity and given its size it looks like it would weigh a lot, but it’s actually not bad at all.

I can see taking this outdoors and walking with it without too much effort. Mine came about 65% charged (in case you would need it in a pinch immediately, but no guarantees on how it would look after sitting on a shelf for a while at the store) and charged up fully over the course of 2-3 hours using the included charger.

The generator comes with a nice zipper pouch that holds the AC charger and a DC car charger to charge it in a car. According to the manual they will both fully charge the pack in 5-5 1/2 hours. The front includes a coaxial charging port for the above mentioned chargers or from a solar panel should you choose to purchase one.

This would be an excellent decision if you live in an area with sketchy electricity or to prepare for storm season. Also on front are two USB ports for charging and a 12 Volt cigarette lighter type jack.

Also on front is a normal AC adaptor. As I said earlier, this is primarily a back-up source for my CPAP and will likely live next to my nightstand on standby for any power outages. According to the manual it’ll last 6-21 hours on a CPAP, likely depending on if you use the humidifier or not.

Even if you can’t think of an immediate use, having something like this handy for emergencies or family trips is really a must. If you’re setting up an emergency kit or a bugout bag in a hurricane or earthquake prone area the Jackery Explorer should definitely be part of your inventory!.

I like the aspect of putting a tent in the back of my truck, up off the ground. Only thing that sucks is I have a 6 inch lift and tall tires so I gotta have a sawed log or a tailgate ladder. I first set this tent up at midnight, in the woods, w/ a little light, and was half tuned.

Took me about 25 minutes from outta the bag to tightening all the straps. Haven’t done a 2nd time yet. The pole going from front to back inside the tent is a sucker to get in/out; noticed stitching for one of the holds is either loose or the stitching holes in the tent material stretched.

Need to take a closer look. Bought the AirBedz heavy duty truck mattress along with this tent; they’re a sweet pair. Tent overall = good and looks great. Solid. Plenty of pouches inside and like the gear hanger at the peak.

Color coding for poles and pole sleeve makes setup a breeze, to heck with the directions! Wished I had the sliding back window in my truck.

Camped in it for 5 nights and it was enjoyable. Lots of room, airy, easy to setup and take down. I watched the setup video on Youtube and it helped immensely with making the setup easier. Poles are color coded to the sleeves on the tent allowing for quick setup.

Initial setup took about 45 minutes. Setups afterwards only took about 15-20 minutes. Received lots of compliments and inquiries from other campers interested in it. We camped in perfect weather therefore I cannot comment on its ability to sustain itself during rainy and windy weather.

Great product and value.

My wife an I got this because sleeping in our truck was not like it was when we was younger. The wife don’t sleep to well when we do sleep in our truck. She started doing research an reading reviews an we got this one for many reasons.

1- The inside floor if it rains an water gets in the bed we’ll be dry. an for the front cover. WE REALLY ENJOYED IT! But the post needs to match the directions colors. It didn’t bother us you can tell where they go.

Cant wait to use it more.

I love this truck I got the one with led lights upgraded the shocks added bearings to wheels , wheelie bar, motor fan and Esc fan also I added a 5800 mah lipo battery. Truck does 30 mph stock now it does 42 mph.

Before the upgrades it is still a great truck everyone likes it. I would recommend very durable. And parts are cheap.

Not having a lot of RC knowledge I relied on RC Planet specs and descriptions from their website. The two Traxxas brand trucks we bought for my grandsons were everything as described. The trucks showed up in record time and were ready out of the box to go Christmas morning.

Too bad Santa gets all the credit because they were a huge hit with the boys.

Love Traxxas Vehicles ! This Runs fast through all kinds of terrain. If you decide on a vehicle like this. Go the extra mile and take out the wheel Bushings and replace with wheel bearings. You will be Happy with it.
