20 Best Truck For Snow (2022 Updated)

I got to test these out in a snow storm. I put these on my 2wd Ford F350 and hooked up my horse trailer and pulled it up and down steep hills and fully tested the limits of their strength. They worked great.

Easy to install. This is a good product. The chain links are slightly smaller than regular chain links which is good for when you hit dry pavement but not as great if you are going through REALLY deep snow.

I’ve never used “regular” chains. Years ago, I used cables on my small car. Then I used Quick-fit chains (from Les Schwab tire stores). I’ve always heard that cables are easier to put on than chains and those were even easier to put on than cables! These Autotrac are even easier to put on than the LS Quick-fit chains AND half the price AND I didn’t have to drive 20 or 30 feet and get out to retighten.

If they are a hassle to put on, you’re less likely to use them and more likely to regret it. I think the instructions could have been better, especially for those that aren’t used to putting on chains or cables.

The basic design (except the auto-tighteners) are very similar to the LS Quick-fit chains so it was easier to me. Three tips: 1)hold up the chains and look for where the chain is kinked, bunched up, or looped around the cable–it’s easier to fix in your hands than on the ground; 2) place the chains on the ground with the hook ends and the print on the auto-tightener facing down (so they’ll be facing away from the tire after installation); and 3) the outer cable is in plastic sleeves; slide the red sleeve behind the tire because the other end will gather snow and slow you down clearing it (you’ll understand it you buy these).

Finally, the auto-tightener mechanisms look sturdy, but I suggest making sure you don’t run over then when you are taking the chains off.

The Peerless tire chains have self-tightening ratchets. Chain installation is quick since you don’t have to roll the tires over the chains. Once hooked up, the self-tightening ratchets allow you to just drive off – no need to stop and re-tighten, a feature that you appreciate when it’s cold and blowing snow.

Taking them off is a bit harder since you do have to roll the tires to get the chain from under the tire. The self-tightening ratchets are plastic so longevity comes into question. I called the company and asked about that, and the rep told me he knew of some that were still working fine after 3 or 4 years.

I was hoping to hear something like 10-12 years. The chains themselves are not very beefy (but that allows the cost to be considerably lower) so again we’ll have to wait and see if and for how long they hold up.

The rep recommended using them only on snow-covered roads.

We’ve owned many Traxxas and non-Traxxas RC trucks over the years. This truck is certainly loads of fun and has some nice features but the big knock is the durability. Just yard racing (no big jumps or bashing) and we’ve broken multiple parts already.

The Ultra Shocks, A-arms, and hub carriers are notoriously fragile in stock Traxxas trucks. This was not really a surprise but I thought perhaps they had moved to better polymers with this new model, especially given that it is so heavy and is 4×4.

No such luck. Still, I would recommend this truck to anyone that understands they will need to buy spare or upgraded parts immediately. I wish they would at least use RPM-equivalent plastic parts from the outset.

00 this is a bit pricey for the truck you get but with upgrades it becomes an amazing 4×4 stadium truck. Just don’t expect it to be something it is not out-of-the-box.

The truck has great power and looks outstanding, after several hours of running I noticed the front wasn’t turning with power, so closer inspecting the front diff wouldn’t engage looked at the diff its self and looked great , the bearings showed sign of rubbing and diff ring gear wasn’t even touching the pinion gear with too much side to side play(no shims).

Ordered up a set of alum. front and rear diffs should take care of the side play and look awsome.

This is an incredible rc. I highly recommend this product for any rc enthusiast. It is very durable and a lot of fun to drive. It does not need any modifications to be fast. It has plenty of speed with just a 2s battery.

Awesome truck , I have lots of rc trucks. This one is by far the coolest. Made very well, not like other ones that came out before this one by other brands if your into rc trucks then this is a must have.

I liked it so much I ordered the garve digger too.

Is this truck perfect? No. Is it better than the Losi at half the price? You bet! A few upgrades and this thing becomes what God intended it to be; a near perfect scale Monster Jammin beast!

Really good rig, very scale. Not A fast vehicle out of the box. (not meant for speed). Easy to work on and maintain. Pros: everything Cons: battery connector not the easiest to get too. (Not A big deal).

Great truck right out of the box! Most scale RC monster truck there is- axial has done very well with this updated version and you cant beat the price.

Love this car. Stock battery lasts about an hour, charging takes a little less than the same. Ive already run into concrete at high speeds and its just fine. The body is more sturdy than I imagined. I would recommend buying a dust cover and an indoor charger to get you started.

The dust cover is needed and youll wish you had the AC charger after the first time you race it.

I suggest getting a brushless motor and new gearing. It is slooooooow. I already had a castle brushless set up and needed the stock stuff for my daughters slash so i bought the brushed version. It comes with a 10/54 gearing.

U need 17/54 and a brushless setup to have any fun. Overal solid product!!! I will recomend the product.

When I received it the controller did not work. Called Traxxis and they got a new one out to me quickly. Was able to play around with it today and I am extremely satisfied. The only thing, like others complained about, is the battery charger as its DC only.

Buy an AC adapter from Traxxis for around $20. This way you can charge at home or charge on the go in your car with the supplied battery charger.

In the first 3 mins of running this truck the shocks broke. In 2 battery cycles. slipper clutch bearing broke, both front and rear axles broke at the joint changed the axles and they broke again. The parts are to weak for the motor.

Blew out the tires as well. Tried to contact traxxas and they don’t back their trucks. Blew 400. 00 on a hunk of junk. Tried to tell the so called customer service person on how little I drove it before it broke was just in the house not even outside and he called me a liar and said that I must have wrecked it to do that.

So very unprofessional. Don’t Waste your money on this one!! No warranty and they don’t back their product. Oh and when I took it apart to change out the axle bearings in the back the screws were clearly different sizes and the bearings were already rusty and this truck didn’t even come in contact with any water.

Could not possibly be happier with this purchase!!! Truck comes very well built out of the box. Just charge the battery, and install 4 AA Batteries in the transmitter. This RC car was highly modified, and has both missing and broken parts. Also, one of the lipo batteries did not work. On a positive note, once I got it running and driving, it is incredibly fast! It still needs a lot of work to get it looking and driving better, but it is working now at least.

I got this on sale and was a bit hesitant but it is soo cute and good quality. It took me about a half hour to put it together and the baby was climbing in before I could get the stickers on. I love the flat foot insert so smaller babies can ride without falling out.

I havent used it outside yet just pushed it around the house but it seems to push nice and easy enough to steer. The handle is a little awkward for short people. I am 5 foot tall and have to lean and reach a little weird to hang onto the handle but its not too terrible.

We got this thinking it’d be easier for kiddos to push through the grass since it sits higher off the ground higher than the normal cozy coupe. Doesn’t make it easier to push, front wheels get sideways easily making it hard for littles to drive/push, and if it’s sitting on a hard surface – like concrete – it tips over way easier than the cozy coupe.

We do like it because it has cup holders and a little truck bed, so cups and toys have a lot of places to go when kiddos are “out on an adventureâ€.

I have two girls, one is 2 and a half and the other is 5 months old. This item was delivered this morning and my oldest was beyond excited. I spent the next two hours assembling it in 5 minute intervals because my 5 month old is very needy at the moment.

My oldest was beyond patient waiting for her new truck to ride around the mud in our back yard. I get to the end of the assembly and low and behold no steering wheel. Double checked the box, everywhere, no steering wheel to be found.

So now I have to tell me oldest who has been beyond patiently waiting for her new truck that she cant play with it. I’m not gonna make her play with an incomplete toy. So, if you are a parent you’ve probably had to do it too.

She took it well but I’m not. 1 star.

Plow looks sturdy but came with several scrapes on the face of the plow which I touched up with paint. The bolts for the mount did not match the nuts so I had to go out and purchased new nuts. The plow hooks up to the mount fairly easy and the winch lifts and lowers the plow with no problem.

Sometimes the wireless remote doesn’t seem to work or connect with the winch,hopefully it’s just a battery issue. It hasn’t snowed yet so I haven’t been able to see how it performs in the snow.

It took me 3 hours using hand tools, the instructions were pretty good but some areas need further explanation, I was also under the assumption that I needed a front receiver hitch that I ordered and can’t use.

The performance rating is really something I can’t comment on as I haven’t use the plow yet. The quality looks pretty good for a home use plow.

Easy to assemble, all parts mated perfectly including custom mount for my vehicle. All hardware installed, nuts and bolts made assembly a breeze. No sorting needed. The plow worked exceptionally well.

This project was unexpectedly fun to assemble and use.

I am so glad I purchased this truck. It has been loads of fun so far and I have yet to break anything in about 2 weeks. Runs strong on 7 cell NiMh battery but have not tried Lipo yet. This thing will ride a wheelie for long distances or take the wheelie bar off and it clears big jumps and is fairly easy to handle in the air with a little practice.

Parts are easily found at local hobby shop or on eBay. Also it helps to join a forum or Facebook group dedicated to the traxxas stampede. You will gain tons of valuable information by doing so.

I was back and forth between an electric and nitro rc truck so I decided to get the 2wd stampede vxl and so far I haven’t regretted it. I’ve wrecked it a few times and it’s still working well. The only problem I’ve had so far is the half shaft came loose on my back wheel once but we popped it back in place and haven’t had any trouble since.

The battery lasts about 30-40 minutes depending on how hard I run it but it recharges in 30 minutes. I’d recommend buying an ac adapter so it can be charged at home. My husband has a nitro revo and sometimes I wish I would’ve gotten a nitro but I don’t know how many times we’ve taken our trucks out and I’ve gotten to play with mine and he hasn’t because it wouldn’t run.

I’d recommend the stampede.

Best rc so far. Very responsive. Incredibly fast! Especially on 3s battery! Best value money can get you for power and speed.

Great for children 5 and up. My 5 year old grandson loved putting this together. The problem I had was receiving this in the mail. This Lego was for a gift and when I received it from Toys R Us, the box was ripped and creased.

I was not impressed.

For the price tag this set is more value for your money than other sets that cost around the same or more. Easy to follow instructions and solid great quality construction. Highly recommend.

I recently installed a set of 37×12. 50R17 Toyo Open Country R/T on my 2016 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. After installation I began my overland trip through Colorado into New Mexico to Arizona and back to Colorado where the tires saw a wide range of surfaces including highways, snow covered trails, rough dirt roads, deep water crossings, and sharp sand covered rocks.

My initial impression was that these tires did not have the road noise on the highway like previous tires I have ran on this truck. I also noted that the tires made the truck feel much more planted when highway driving and the truck would hug the corners which I contribute to a strong sidewall of the tire.

Those sidewalls were put to the test when off-roading in the Arizona desert. I tested the sidewall strength by deflating the tires and using the sidewall of the tires to climb up rock walls and over obstacles on the trail and the sidewall did not falter nor did they show signs of fatigue or wear.

The traction of the tires was where I was impressed the most. To my surprise the truck did not break the traction of the tires in even under aggressive acceleration when climbing or going through water crossings the tires would just claw through the elements on the trails.

When in the deep snow-covered trails in Colorado the tires stayed planted and provided ample traction providing me with the confidence to explore deeper down the snow-covered trails then I normally would alone.

In the first week I put 3,000 plus miles on these tires and I would say that I am overly impressed with the performance of the Toyo Open Country R/T. I am looking forward to seeing how these tires hold up to the abuse and miles that I put my Ram Power Wagon through over time.

I would like to say thank you to Toyo for building a rugged tire like the Toyo Open Country R/T. It is confidence building to have a tire that can provided such a premium ride and excellent off-road traction for our adventure rig.

I have had the Toyo R/T’s for about 10k miles. The tread has held up alright, I felt like they were wearing down faster than most off-road or all terrain tires. But what makes this tire actually a bad tire is that they hardly have any traction at all when the road is wet.

I have had countless times spinning the tires even under the lightest acceleration. They’re wonderful tires for driving on dry roads and they didn’t do too bad in the snow either. But, then again I’ve seen Michelin’s run through snow like it’s nothing.

I actually ended up totaling my f-250 with these tires. I was driving down the highway at 60 mph with no load, going up a slight incline. Out of nowhere the back tires broke loose and my rear end swung out to the side.

I tried to regain traction by letting off the gas and the brakes but I just kept sliding across the road like a 5 year old on a downhill backyard water slide. So then I decided the use the brakes once I slid off the road.

I slid into some trees and totaled the truck. It was a light rain too. Hardly had to use the windshield wipers. Just driving a calm 60mph in a 70mph zone. No downshift. I was in overdrive the whole time until I lost traction.

No driver error. My buddy in the passenger can vouch. So overall, I personally would never buy these tires again. I don’t know if it’s the compound or the tread that makes them perform terribly on wet pavement, but I definitely DO NOT recommend to anyone!.

There isnt much on the internet about these tires so hopefully I can help. I’ve had them on a 2017 diesel super duty for 8000 miles, mixed driving. They currently have 14/32 tread. These tires will last over 50k miles under this heavy truck.

The Michelin tires were sucking up nails twice a week (I work construction) and these tires have not gotten a single nail in the few months I’ve had them. PROS: Long life. Look great. Tough tire. Great traction, in all conditions.

Balance well. Quieter than a mud tire. CONS: Wrecked fuel mileage (2-3 MPG decrease, both highway and city). Ride like they are wooden tires. Very heavy (definitely do not recommend for a half ton or lighter truck).

Noise level is similar to noisy ATs, but not as loud as MTs. In summary, if you value durability over all else, I recommend this tire. If you drive the family around as much as you work in your truck and value comfort and/or fuel efficiency, shop for a regular all terrain like everyone else does.

My previous AT tires were AT3 XLTs and they were significantly more comfortable and efficient, and I will probably go back to them, if these tires ever wear out.

With the transfer case, drive shafts, leaf springs and frame. They also put amazing detail in designing the body of this truck. Just look at the drop bed the dash board and front and rear head light detail.

This is truly and amazing Truck!.

It was well crafted and we’ll protected on the packaging. My only complaint would be that the radio didn’t work. Not a big issue for me considering I was going to use a different radio anyway. However a really fun truck to drive, with it’s own challenges.

I am a vintage toyota fan and fully built a 1980 hilux with all the bells and whistles. Life happened and I had to sell it. This little crawler has been amazing to tinker with and way more affordable than the real thing.

The scale realism blows minds and gets the kids and I out hiking more.

Very good and qualitative models, BB particular Toyota Tundra? realistic model, beautiful, very similar to the current, three-speed approach, both on road and on a flat surface, and with additional audio oborudovoniem machine becomes even more like the present only in a small scale.

Very challenging even for an advanced modelers. Very good quality,although there could be some design improvements. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

I like everything about it so far. I have not used it yet and frankly hope it never snows 🙂 It was shipped, packaged, and delivered. I couldn’t ask for better. The ONLY problem I had was the wheels you have to set up correctly were a BIG pain to get off after taking the cotter pin out.

It seems the painted or powered coated the whole thing with the wheels in the neutral position. You couldn’t take the wheels off with without call 911. Need to correct that. I had a regular Meyer plow several years ago for the farm and they make a good product.

I got the Home plow because finances wouldn’t allow for a commercial one, so we will see how this Home Plow does I have 3900 feet of driveway to do on my farm. Wish me luck (or you can come help :).

The plow took no time to install–it was the receiver that took 2+ hours. The holes did not exactly line up so it took some work to get it mounted and bolted in place. The receiver assembly is a snug fit onto the truck but that is probably a good thing–no play at all when I drive with the plow attached.

Now I need some snow so I can play! I gave all 5 stars because it is solid, looks great and seems like it should do the job well–looking forward to proving that out with some snow.

It’s got to be best home plow on market. Works great and is quality made. Can’t believe how easy it is to take off my vehicle. Jeep Wrangler. And put back on. Less than 5 minutes. Only thing or feature I would improve on is remote fob for blade operation.

These tires are excellent! I just had to use them yesterday during the snowstorm with roads that were icy and snowy. Of course I had to be careful but my car maintained control at all times; I was able to break and turn without issues.

Bought these for my Toyota Tacoma. I commute 140 kms round trip every day from a small town in Ontario to a larger city in the GTA. Everyday I felt confident that no-matter-what the elements would throw at me these tires would do the job and get me through.

Installed, with tire pressure sensors, steelies, these were not cheap – but then how much do you value your safety? I have a friend who has put two words together and came up with Gription. These tires have it.

Great winter tire, good traction and little road noise. Keep in mind that you are starting with 10/32” tread where most others are 12/32” to 13/32” (265/65/R17). These tires will wear more quickly. Also, make sure your wheel alignment is within specifications before putting these tires on your vehicle.

My alignment was off slightly and I only got 20,000 Kms out of them.
