20 Best Trucks For Hotshot (2022 Updated)

I actually picked this up as an alternative Christmas Eve build for me and my brother as I was unable to get the home alone set and I was not disappointed. It’s a fantastic build with many different techniques used and a multi season display piece 💚.

I am very glad I picked it up and will not be getting rid of it anytime.

My brother and I are both avid LEGO fans, and he picked this set up to build while I built the Amelia Earhart plane. The main build is fairly large, and I love how the knees were designed, even without articulation.

The arms allow for a wide range of poses, and I currently have it on my shelf holding the little alien. It has some fun techniques and instructions, and was a blast to put together.

I had a Tamiya hotshot, one of my favorite vintage cars. The car would run great, even with a high power motor and battery. The car has some good upgrades you can find online, I would recommend getting some different tires if you want to drive on-road.

All in all, I would highly recommend this over Tamiyas others. Great fun. Great buy!.

Tamiya rereleased the 1985 Hotshot, it was their first 4×4 buggy. The rereleased version has been upgraded using modern drive shafts & the chassis now has a hatch to access electronics. Really all you need to buy is a Hotshot Ball Bearing set, before building the buggy.

Brilliant service, arrived next day. Surprised my dad with this model he has wanted since the 80’s. Have bought from wonderland before and wouldn’t hesitate in buying from them in the future

I bought this Hoss 4×4 VXL last weekend. Since then, I’ve used it about 5 times, mostly at home with my boy and once at an RC dirt track. Below are all the issues I’ve had with it. I’m not very happy with the durability of the truck at all.

It’s fun to drive, but has been a headache! 1. During the 2nd time using it, the front drive shaft broke. I replaced it. 2. During the 5th time using it, the other front drive shaft broke. I replaced it.

See pictures of both failed components. 3. All other drive shafts show deformation, both in the slip joint between components (torqueing) and at the pin connection in the u-joints. There is NO WAY that these drive shafts are designed to handle the amount of torque from this stock motor.

4. After taking this truck to a dirt track one time, it was muddy. I rinsed the truck off with water and let it dry overnight. The next morning, virtually every fastener on the truck has surface corrosion.

5. The front differential is leaking oil/grease. I first noticed this when replacing the first drive shaft. 6. The battery retainer arm falls out all the time when running this on a track. The battery must have became dislodged 10 times while running on that track.

7. I’ve had to repair the tire glue at least 3 times now, multiple tires each time. Fun truck, but I would not recommend LiPO with any VXL Traxxas stuff without investing in A LOT of upgraded components.

Ok. so I broke a front A-arm within my FIRST BATTERY after unboxing. My fault entirely. Next issue was a broken driveshaft. DO NOT USE THE SLEF RIGHTING FEATURE UNLESS YOU LIKE BUYING DRIVETRAIN PARTS.

PERIOD. Just go pick it up yourself. Other than being down waiting. on parts. this thing is pretty sick. Wicked fast. wheelies on demand. first RC I’ve had that RIPS though snow. fluff or slop. she eats it up.

Tire ballooning popped a few beads. a reglue was in order. Awesome truck. Can’t wait to get her fixed and rippin again. But honestly, Traxxas. it could be a bit cheaper. especially when you KNOW that 3s power absolutely DEMANDS metal gears.

The plastic one it came with will be burnt soon. then I get to spend more money on top of the 600 I spent to get it here and the 120 I have to spend to get her going again. We know the hobby. Things break.

But with plastic gears. garbage same ol’ shocks and plastic driveshafts. Your price point is 70 bucks high. to say the least. RC Superstore is awesome. and so is the Hoss. just plan on upgrading.

Straight off, if you purchase the Traxxas Hoss expect to have to upgrade both front and rear CVs to metal because the plastic ones will break, quick. On top of that the only metal CV’s that I’ve found that will last more than 20 minutes are the Traxxas brand, which WILL COST YOU around A THIRD OF THE TOTAL RC RETAIL PRICE.

I have watched other videos where people bought the Hoss, and they also had to replace the CV’s within just a couple drives. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM so I don’t think its acceptable for the manufacturer to supply parts that are known to break when you use a feature they designed.

I have broken 6 CV’s so far and 4 of them broke when I used self righting mode(the others broke when I gave it full throttle up hill). Besides this the car is virtually indestructible which is why I still gave it 2 stars (although it does like to roll over).

Bottom line is you are going to have to spend another hundred-fifty in order to have it be a reliable RC.

We purchased these Big Wheels for our Grandson, to go with the HotWheels truck. They exceeded our expectations, they are very solid and will last for a long time. All the random designs on the trucks are nice too.

The Hot Shot may be an older design and it’s not as fast or capable as some of the more modern cars, which in my opinion simply does not matter. My first car was a Tamiya Super Champ (a few years ago.

okay, maybe slightly more than a “few”) which I sold in 1989. My intent was sell my Super Champ (which I loved) and to buy a Hot Shot but ended up using the money on a real car. I have a specific need for a low profile 4WD buggy that I can attach a WiFi cam and use it as an inspection vehicle under my house.

It works very well for this purpose. When it’s not crawling around under my house, it’s screaming on the dirt parking lot accross the street. I’m running it with a sensored brushless 13. 5 turn motor.

It’s amazingly fast and the “Super” Hot Shot enhancements gets lots of attention. The car is strong, reliable (when maintained) and very capable. There have been very few cars that look more awesome in design that perform as well as the Super Hot Shot.

My first Tamiya build since the early 2000’s or so. Excellent Tamiya quality both in terms of materials and build as well as documentation. As was always the case, always found myself wishing they’d put in an extra tube of grease, but as long as you’re not too liberal with it, there’s enough to get through the build without too much worrying.

A couple of small niggles: If you’re an obsessive like me, the ESC that comes with it is slightly annoying in the layout of the cabling as it means I have to contort the cabling slightly to get it out of the box optimally.

Also seems like there is a bit of rubbing on the inside of the front left wheel, but these are adjustable, suspect just need to spend some time adjusting. Fun build, had one of my kids helping me and took us about 12 hours over a few build sessions to do the car not including painting body etc.

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve built one though so an experienced and confident builder I’m sure would do it quicker. Car itself is a great runner, all the family have played with it, couple of crashes so far no damage so seems robust.

This is a blast from the past, but with a few things updated to last much longer. Really fun to build and can be completed by a novice. This car is as much fun to build as it is to drive. Complaints about durability are from a few that are abusing this one.

It will break just like any other car if running into curbs, fenceposts, etc are your thing. Otherwise, running in good open areas or an offroad track will deliver many hours of fun.

Bought this toy car through Amazon last year for my son’s Christmas present. It’s great toy car for a toddler. It run good and battery last for more than two days until last week Friday April 22 when I was trying to park the car using the remote control and it just started accelerated in reverse and the back tires are just keep spinning.

Had to turn it off on the car power button cause it won’t stop using the remote control. Right after it happened I immediately contact Best Choice Product costumer service in their website. Talked to Jade their costumer service awesome and helpful guy.

He walked me through to trouble shoot the toy car. But trouble shooting the car didn’t help so he ask their manager if they can still send us a replacement toy car because the car is out of warranty and we didn’t paid for any warranty.

Waited for a little bit to find out that day if we get a new replacement and YES they’re sending us a replacement for a new toy car and We don’t have to return the defective toy which was awesome cause we ain’t paying for that to return.

Lol 😂 Anyways we got the new toy car replacement today one week after I talked to their costumer service. Definitely buying more stuff from BCP!.

So my overall experience with this company has its ups and downs. First off I want to say we loved it so much that this is the SECOND one We have purchased! First one was red and now we got black. You will not be disappointed with this investment! The first one we got a year ago but the remote didn’t work So no parent control but our kid was still old enough to not need it anyways.

We contact the company many times but they never got back to us. so I wanted to give it another chances The second one which is this black one. Works like a dream, the remote works. But hold left or right to long (10-15 sec) and the Jeep just straighten out which I find weird.

Radio blasting, Bluetooth!! LED lights on front and braking lights! Wish the top lights worked or at less two. Overall, the quality and work that when into this is amazing. It looks amazing and operates better than the Walmart or target ones we tried out.

Purchased the 12V Ride-On Truck SKY2856 Black approx. 5 years ago from Toys-R-Us for our grandson. The battery does not hold a charge now. I called customer service today 03/14/22 and was told that bcp does not sell any replacement batteries for this toy.

This truck is in very good shape and we wanted to continue to use it for our other 2 grandkids. But now we are stuck with a useless piece of plastic since your company does not stand behind it’s products.

Your website lists this truck as one of your best sellers. My advice to anyone looking to purchase this product is find a different manufacturer who supports their products. What a joke!.

This is a fantastic truck that is a total blast to drive. TSM makes you feel like a pro driver. Always in control without taking the drifting and donuts away. Be aware. This is not a big slash or stampede that can take ridiculous amounts of abuse and slough it off.

If you jump this truck like an E Revo or Slash, it will break. Thats not to say its not durable either. I have driven this truck hard for a month now and have had no issues at all. Heres a couple tips for new buyers of the Desert Racer.

The body is paper thin so reinforcing it will extend its life dramatically. Gorilla tape or shoe goo and drywall tape on the inside are a must. Secondly, grease the front and rear diffs well. Third, fill all the voids in the rear trailing arms with JB Weld to strengthen them or the will fold like a noodle.

Take care of this truck and drive it like the scale trophy truck it is and you will be very happy. I am.

This thing is absolutely awesome. Traxxas nailed the scale look, and it’s a blast to drive. The TSM system works great, makes it easier to drive fast. And it’s definitely fast. Using the traxxas link module and app, I clocked 32mph through grass with the 4S battery.

I recommend 1 4s battery as opposed th the dual 2s or 3s batteries. Yes, you can get 50mph with the dual 3s setup, but 30mph is plenty fast for this thing in scale. 50mph is a little crazy, like strapping 5000hp on the real truck.

You’ll have more fun blasting around and not wrecking it. Get used to driving it like a real truck, you can’t just cut the wheel at full throttle, it’ll roll over in a heartbeat. It’s great to learn real throttle and steering control.

And that full tube chassis looks so cool. Great truck.

I I received the car from you guys. But when I went to use it I tried turning the lights on and they do not work. I even took it to the local hobby shop and they are saying they don’t why. I’m really bummed on that.

Watch some YouTube videos first- that’s my first recommendation. I’d done that, put it up once that season and then tried to use the instructions included the next season (because I’d forgotten how to assemble it from the year before.

yes, my brain is getting older) and I was so frustrated I just about threw in the towel. I remembered that I had such an easier time putting it together on the ground and then putting it in the box and strapping it down.

I won’t make that mistake twice. Seriously, there are better ways to install it rather than the instructions given- do yourself a favour and spend a few minutes exploring some alternative installs. This tent is very roomy and well vented.

I’m short but a very tall person would be able to stand up in it comfortably. There are a lot of neat features and overall, it does what I need it to do- shelter me and keep me up off of the ground. I haven’t used this in the rain yet, so I have yet to experience the performance in less than stellar weather but it was really windy the one night I had it up and it was fine.

I used a fold-up step stool to get in and out of the truck I am unable to use the step features on my bumper and it works well. All the zippers work fine so far but they seem flimsy- I’m expecting that they won’t last.

I’m pretty happy with my tent. The set up is a sore point, so it loses some merit on the scoring but as I said and many before me, watch how some other clever humans figured out a solution, so follow their lead.

The quality is okay, as I mentioned the zippers seem flimsy but I just go gentle with them. It is pretty cool to back up to lakeside and wake up to that view in the morning though. That makes it worth it.

This is the best tent purchase have Ever made. I bought the original blue one back in 2004. Used is every year in the summer and fall for camping. 12 times a year probably. No issues at all but as with anything over time things do wear out.

Only reason having to purchase a new one today (2/25/22) is because my dog tied to jump into the tent while doors were zipped shut. dog trashed the tent. On cold nights used the propane Buddy Heater in the tent.

it’s really a perfect setup. Being off the ground makes a huge difference. Sure hope the tents are still as good as my 2004 model I have Sportz Truck Tent II. Love this tent!.

Great truck camper for my F150 shortbed (5. 5ft). Definitely has a learning curve if you have a tonneau cover (mine has an interior frame that took a few minutes to figure out how to drape the tent around it – I will probably use those foam pipe insulators or pool noodles to attach to the frame so I don’t cause any damage to my tent next time).

I am 5’8” and can stand up straight in the center of the tent. There is plenty of ventilation and windows. Zippers slide very smoothly and the awning is awesome (one of the main reasons I bought the Napier brand).

I did not need the rain fly this time so I can’t comment on that. I’d recommend assembling with two people your first time at least. Next time I can probably do it on my own. Oh, and invest in a good air mattress for the bed(s).

You don’t want to skimp on that like I did.

It is perfect as a ready to race RTR car. If you are just getting into hobby RC and don’t know your way around building your own this car (RTR) is for you. It has plenty of traxxas upgrades and a plethora of after market parts and upgrades due to its popularity.

the drive shafts are prone to failure but they are cheap to replace. I have upgraded to steel drive shafts only to find a pin falls out and it spits the drive shaft. The plastic hub carriers break if you hit something hard enough but only cost $4 to replace, I recommend an ally upgrade.

One of the best things is you can customise it and make it your own, the setup can be changed with high ride height for jumping and bashing low stiff for track etc. springs can be changed different rated oils in the shocks etc.

The control module allows for different speed settings including %50 reduction, this is great as you learn how to drive the car. I recommend fitting a cooling fan to the control module. although it can take 3 cell lipo I would use 2 cell and it should last longer ( I have never replaced a motor in 3 years of using every weekend).

the traxxas Stability management (TSM) is brilliant and really does work very well. And finally who can argue with 500 hp bursting through the sound system haha magic.

Good quality RC Truck. One negitive comment is the finish in the body is below quality expectations. The decal on the hood was placed incorrectly, it was laid straight across the hood and not into the contours.

Result is dust collects under the decal and looks terrible for a vehicle that is new. I will ripe it off and replace it but should not have to.

I have this kit w/my Slash model. I like the sound so much I bought this kit for another shell. I only used the speaker assembly. The speaker mounts needed to be modified to fit the other shell. That was no big deal.

I cut the plastic mounts to the length I needed, drilled small holes, and mounted the speakers against the shell material w/screws and nuts. The sound of a 900 hp engine and the look my models have is very impressive.

I like that I can adjust the volume and even turn the system off if I wanted to do so. I can’t imagine I’d want to turn it off though. The only issue I had w/this system was the wire that connects to the sound unit is too short to conveniently change the battery unless you unplug the wire.

I extended the wire so the body shell isn’t in the way of changing a battery.

My son and daughter were both excited to play with this toy. The truck is a lot smaller than I had expected it to be. But my children enjoy hours of fun playing with the truck regardless of the size.

Makes noises. They enjoy loading the small four wheeler in and out of the back bed of the pickup truck. Plastic isn’t very thick but is still a durable toy. Provides hours of entertainment.

My nephew loves this truck, we can’t get it back! It’s great to have so many qualities in one toy. The opening doors and hood are fun, and he loves extending the ramps to roll the 4-wheeler up and into the bed.

It’s got a great, loud, obnoxious sound, haha! He loves it and I appreciate it as much as all of the other noisy toys 😉 Good toy choice here, and it holds up to his rough play and hits.

My boys love this little truck and all of the lifelike features. It is very durable and has survived many throws. This is one of their new favorite toys. The colors are bright and it rolls well on their tracks.

I will be buying more.

I own the original stampede from 1994. I have beat the heck out of that truck and never broke a single thing on it. I got this truck and running the 2nd battery pack it bent the shock shaft. I noticed the shafts on the shocks are thinner than my original stampede.

Otherwise it’s a very good truck!.

Kit was a great time to build. Only had to back up a few times to fix items that I installed incorrectly. Good instructions. Once the car was built it is a blast. Lot of parts but all fit great.

I bought this for my son and I to build. The truck went together perfectly, and the quality of the kit is great. The included electronics are a great match, and the truck has plenty of power for off road, and plenty of speed.

The suspension works very nice. Very plush, and the truck handles great. I am considering buying another kit for myself now.

You get a nice variety of different lubricants for the price, especially with the different viscosity levels in the bundle. I mainly bought these for Rubik’s cubes and they work great to help keep my puzzles smooth/fast feeling.

A note for those interested though. The 2 bottles of the higher viscosity lubricants are only about half full, unlike the 200 & 350CST which are nearly full to the top of the bottle.

I used to race with a Slash 4×4. This truck is a whole different beast compared to durability and control on the track! Definitely recommend. This was also my first RC I fully built and that was another cool thing about it.

Simple assembly too make you feel like a pro.

If you’ve never built a race kit before, it’s hard to appreciate just how good this Tekno kit really is. Every part of this truck makes sense and is built twice is tough as the competition. Right out of the box, the truck is dialed in and ready to go.

I absolutely could not recommend it more.

The lights did not work since day one. Put new batteries in and everything. After putting water in it the siren stopped working. The little plug to hold the water in was tricky for me to keep closed.

After a few months of owning it the fire engine does not squirt any water. It is a cute and affordable fire engine if you want to use it only for pretend play;but otherwise nothing works on it. Doors open and close.

Ladder extends easily. The ladder does not go into laying position easy.

This is the 2nd truck that we bought from this company. The vehicles are HUGE! in a great way. They are amazing quality with so many great details. The price is amazing for what it is. Would definitely recommend this brand.

My 4 year old son pick out the construction truck for his birthday. Then we bougth this Fire truck for our friend’s 2nd birthday. Neither of them want to stop playing with it!.

Everything about the truck is great except the doors. Instead of a simple snap on hinge they tried to build a fancy self-closing system with rubber bands etc. It is total garbage and really poorly engineered.

If the components get seperated because the kids are playing rough, it is nearly impossible to reattach it properly. I reached out to their consumer advocacy department but they were useless. Everything else on the truck is great.

But some really bad door desging.

Hey all hope you are safe and well out there. Added a second Slash to the team while putting my 2 Rustlers up on ebay. In my opinion you have to go 4×4 and the Slash brushless is the perfect starting point.

They are fast, durable, versatile, and responsive. We do more off than on-road so adding the Proline 117012 trencher tires is our first upgrade along with LIPO batteries. If you plan on bashing even a little bit be sure to have spare TRA6852X and TRA6851X driveshafts on hand (6451 and 6452 steel versions if you really go hard with jumps).

Pick up a couple of Traxxas 5119 Ball Bearings since you may lose them when you lose the driveshafts. In summary – get out there safely – have some fun and make some memories with one of the best RC 1/10 4X4s available today.

This item had everything bundled and saved me a lot of time hunting around for steering links and bellcranks. The only thing I had to add was bearings because the stock unit has plastic bushings that will wear and create slop.

Word of advice wear eye protection if swapping the bushings for bearings. Once you pop the top bushing on the spring side the collar will shoot off because the bushing presses some prongs outward to hold it in place.

Otherwise this is a great buy if upgrading your slash to an LCG version with updated steering. In my case I was converting a Stampede and that’s why I wanted the all in one setup.

I purchased a Traxxas car, battery, & charger for my son for his 7th birthday. I called a representative at RCSuperstore prior to making the purchase just to make sure I was ordering the right things since this was new for me.

He was VERY helpful! Order received quickly and we love the products!!!!.

As much as my son enjoys R/C cars, he doesn’t always get to play with them when he wants because we get some extreme temperatures that make it difficult to stand around outside for too long, so this is perfect because it’s clearly designed to be enjoyed indoors.

The tires are super soft and the car itself is very light. I do wish the tires were made of something more durable, however. I was expecting something similar to membrane foam but it is more of a polystyrene (like Styrofoam).

I can see this getting a lot of chunks taken out of it in the future. I’m also slightly disappointed that the car doesn’t immediately jump on command like I expected. You have plan your jumps several seconds in advance so the car has time to prepare.

Aside from those two quibbles, however, it’s a fun car with simple controls and my kids enjoy it.

This hands down is by far the best truck GPS I’ve used. There’s so many great features on it. First of all it has a great suction cup great quality and very sturdy. It’s been on my truck windshield and it hasn’t moved even after all those crazy bumps I go through on the road.

The screen size is perfect with a bigger screen you get more map details and you can add your side information without compromising your map. Custom truck routing you just enter your truck profile and the GPS will find truck prefer routes best suited for your rig and load.

This GPS provide a view of popular truck routes this by far is one of the best features and one of the reasons why I switched from the Rand McNally to this OTR 1000. Driving in unfamilitary territorry? See popular truck routes used by other truckers to increase your situation awareness.

This has driver alerts driver alerts warn you about coming sharp curve speed changes railroad crossing and more. It also lets you know when there’s a weigh station coming up. Another great feature that I like is the Live traffic feature very useful.

This will show you construction zones, congested areas. If you run this and compare it with Google maps you’ll be able to save yourself sometime by avoiding nasty traffic by rerouting. This has saved me delays numerous times.

I really like how you can connect this GPS to your hotspot and it will get automatic updates. And to top it off when you link your phone to Garmin drive app to run with this GPS it will provide information on your GPS screen like text messages or calls.

I don’t know what other GPS can do this but this is a great feature this will actually read your messages and show them on the side of the GPS display. Don’t think about it just get it!.

The image is crystal clear. When connected to phone it updates traffic and maps automatically( may require software update for this feature) I have 3 truck profiles loaded on it along with the Car option.

Accounts for all types of loads and hazards. Intuitive. The windshield mount is very sturdy and allows for quick easy removal of GPS while leaving the mount on the windshield so you don’t get 500 circles on the windshield.

Just took a 2000 mile trip with no issues There was a detour that put me on a restricted road. and it let me know. boy did it let me know. big flashing red warning.

The Garmin 1010 is a great GPS unit. They did a good job on the production. The display is large and bright so you can read it easily, even in the sunshine. (It has excellent resolution. ) The voice recognition is a big improvement on the previous models.

Reception of the weather and traffic through the cell data plan is excellent, but I chose not to use my cell phone so I ordered an HD traffic mount for $139 and receive the traffic that way instead. We are enjoying unit.

I wish Garmin would offer the traffic receiver incorporated into the unit so we wouldn’t have to buy a separate mount for traffic.

These monster trucks are great toys for toddlers. Out 2 year old loves playing monster truck and crushing the cars. Ive noticed the cars have changed after buying these over the past year and the rubber cars are the best.

HERES THE BEST THING ABOUT THEM, Hotwheels has teams up with BIGFOOT 4x4x4 and they are releasing all different kinds of Bigfoot trucks and just recently two Snakebites. I collect these for my own set but also buy my son one every time we find something new he likes.

I think we almost have the entire BIGFOOT fleet. For my it brings back nostalgia and BIGFOOT home is in Pacific Missouri. So its the best of both worlds.

i really enjoy having all the Hot Wheels monster truck choices available. My child is much more into Monster Jam, but it seems hard to come by those lately. Hot Wheels having the huge line that they do is wonderful.

quality is just as great, you just aren’t getting the names on tv with the brand on tv is the only difference. also, some come with “crush cars” which my kiddo absolutely loves !.

Bought 3 of these for my 6 year old son to gift his friends. They were an instant hit and just the right size for him and his friends to clutch in their hand as a comfort toy or race together while playing indoors or outside at the park.

The trucks are holding up very well, for the rough play over 4 weeks now.
