20 Best Tub Shower Doors (2022 Updated)

Basco is a good product at a reasonable price. This is actually my second set of Basco shower doors. I had replaced my old glass doors with new Basco doors. The new doors looked so good, I ordered & installed another set for my second bathroom.

Problem free installation, well constructed and sturdy unit. Frame allows for some adjustment to accommodate walls out of plumb. Arrived well packaged with good installation guide.

The shower doors are great quality, installation was easy(follow the instructions). The doors slide easily and are good heavy doors.

Just finished my install. Couple things: The measurement for the top bar seems a bit short. Mine could easily be 2-3mm longer and would still fit properly. Caulk forgives a multitude of sins. Like a dummy, I forgot to trim the bottom bar equally on both sides, and ended up with the lower guide block not matching the mounting hole position.

No problem, I took a page from another reviewer and just glued it down with silicon, making sure to fill in those holes with caulk as well. The guide block still hides them anyway, it’s just offset by about an inch.

I’m disappointed at how short the frame is. I’m 5’10” and standing in my tub, the top of my head is even with the top of the frame. I’m worried that water will bounce off my head when hair washing and end up on the floor.

Similarly, the top of the glass doors isn’t contained within the top frame; there’s about a 1/2″ gap between the top of the glass and the bottom of the frame, and water could get through there as well.

We’ll see tomorrow morning. Be careful when you get to the step for mounting the rollers on the glass doors. There’s a contradiction between the pictures. You don’t want to start mounting the doors and find out the rollers are mounted backwards.

Since the doors are only coated with the water repellency treatment on one side, it takes some thought to get everything right. I put tape on the glass showing which side faced in, and which door was supposed to be closest to the faucet.

Once you do that, look at the top bar that the rollers will mount into. It’s fairly easy to figure out the way the rollers have to mount, once you have everything marked like that. The hardware bags are a bit mixed up.

there aren’t enough screws in the bag listed as the one for mounting the left and right side pieces, but there’s another bag that’s labeled “Extra hardware” and between them, there are actually more than you need.

The top bar actually doesn’t mount to anything; it just lays on top of the left and right side pieces. The considerable weight of the doors pulls it down, obviously, so there’s no danger, but just be aware of that.

I’d never seen a design like that. The bottom track doesn’t use any hardware either. You just glue it to the top of your tub with silicon. That’s handy, since you’re not drilling into the top of your tub.

Make SURE your side piece go all the way down to the surface of the tub, though, because that’s what keeps the bottom track from moving, if the silicon doesn’t hold. My neighbor loaned me one of those suction cup tools glass installers use, which made putting the doors on the upper track much easier, a one-man job, actually.

Without it, two people are the way to go, as the glass is too wide to horse around easily.

The door is great! Once we got it hung properly. The Dreamline customer service is fantastic and they bent over backwards to help us get it installed properly! They sent us new rollers first, then a “skirt” for the inside of the door to keep water from splashing outside the track.

The one thing we would recommend, so that people like us can install these doors without so many calls to customer service, would be a better explanation and some pictures in the installation guide of how the rollers work and what to do when the doors don’t slide smoothly (or at all!).

So, the set screws had come apart inside the rollers, from our unscrewing them too far, and then once that happened, we could adjust all we wanted to but nothing happened. Once my husband took apart one of the rollers, he figured this out.

The thing that helped us the most was when the customer service guy told us to lift the doors a bit and put a shim underneath while we were adjusting the doors, to keep the full weight from hanging on them while adjusting.

Things like that ought to be part of the installation guide.

Purchased this shower door to go with our upgraded walk in shower. I got the Encore Semi-Frameless door with satin black hardware. It took me a while to order doors because I was unsure and was trying to stay within a budget.

I did splurge a little and although a less warranty with the satin black hardware, I am so glad I chose Dreamline Shower Doors. Makes such nice difference in our bathroom and everythings seem biger, even inside of the shower.

I would definitely recommend Dreamline Shower Doors.

Beautiful shower door once installed. Directions are hard to follow, they have no words (odd, right?) luckily my contractor is a genius and was able to figure it out. The seal is not 100% because the door is quite heavy and sags enough in the center for it not to remain flush to the wall, there’s a tiny gap on one side.

Aesthetic is exactly what I was looking for, just hope it holds up with daily use.

Love the quality of the glass, metal slides. Really beautiful in my new bathroom. Hated the shipping company. They said one time so we waited around all day. Meanwhile, they didn’t show up until an hour after our window time of 4 hours.

And, they seemed confused that it was glass and fragile.

It was delivered today, We didn’t open the packaging yet. I will leave additional review when we install this shower door. . Shipping took a little longer, but it didn’t postpone my project.

Clients very pleased with the new door. Very good quality components & stainless steel. Installation pretty straight forward — definitely a 2-person job due to need for dry fitting. One note: instructions did not call out or highlight need to reverse direction of the door stop (must be flipped to be on top) on structural rail if the fixed panel goes on left side + did not describe how to do it.

Whereas instruction called for door guide, panel clips to be screwed into curb or tub base, I loath making holes in those surfaces. Used a high-strength, quick set epoxy for tub top instead. Build / Ferguson very prompt with shipping (via R&L freight).

I think the finished product is an amazing show piece. I installed this myself w the help of a friend. I saved over 1/2 the price of what I was quoted locally. The pieces are heavy and big so take your time, be patient and careful.

You need to plan it out, cut the rail and drill the holes accurately but it’s doable for a moderately experience DIYer who has common sense. Be warned, the instructions aren’t great but there is a little bit of information online (Al’s Quality Glass Youtube) to help.

The plastic anchors look sketchy but they should work if you have a sufficiently thick wall when you consider your backerboard, thinset layer, and tile (I would feel confident with 1″ of material thickness).

Drilling a 1/4″ hole into the tile is a bit small and 5/16″ is too big. The anchors are most likely designed for a 7mm drilled hole (so I went with a 1/4″) bc you want the anchor to fill the drilled hole completely to resist the shearing force (on the structural rail).

Removing the caps on the roller wheels were tricky to figure out. Don’t be fooled; there are no set screws in the tiny side holes of the rollers. To remove the caps on the rollers you need to wedge a flat screw driver between the soft gaskets (ie.

where the glass would be pinched) and then use your fingers to unscrew the cap (while resisting the roller from spinning with the wedged screw driver). This will reveal a hidden allen head screw behind it.

When you remove that allen head screw, that will allow you to take the roller apart and mount it in the glass door’s mounting hole. Good luck!.

This is a very nice glass shower door with clean lines which does not detract from the bathroom, but is very complimentary. Makes the bathroom look more open and airy. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was the contractor had some difficulty installing the door and informed me that the directions were vague on where to mount along the tub which he had to redo and repair the area where he first mounted the door.

I really love this shower door. We have not installed it yet, but we opened all the packaging to make sure everything was in good shape, and it was. It was all packaged very well and the finishes are stunning.

I will update once we install.

Nice finish to the metal fixtures, the glass is thick and the sliding functions without any problems. The glass has a very slight bluish tint which may be more evident on lighter background tiles. Professionally installed for me, no comment on difficulty.

It’s a well-made door and it looks really nice. My problem is that I paid about $80 extra for aquaglide xp coating, and it turns out only one side of it is coated (which I think is pretty cheap on the manufacturer’s part).

We only realized this after our installers put it in, and because of the way my bathroom is laid out, they installed the doors facing the other way for the handles to be in the right spot. Because of the way the track is made, we can only flip them around and not switch their positions.

So that extra cost was kind of a waste. But overall I’m happy with the look, the quality, and the function.

If your looking for a nice looking shower door this is the one for you. However, if you want to keep the water in the shower then run from this one. I waited to do a review to make sure I could give it a fair and honest review.

The contractor said the install wasn’t that bad, but took a while. Make sure the doors go on in the correct direction (doors have a coating on one side). When taking a shower the water does go outside on the floor every time.

The lip on the bottom should have been a little higher. Hopefully they will modify the bottom track and over lap the doors a little more to keep the water inside and not allow it to go out on the floor.

Granted it is not a lot of water, but the shower doors should keep the water inside. If I could I would ship them back for a full refund, but the holes have already been drilled. Maybe Home Essentials Direct or Dreamline will give a partial refund as the product is defected.

Why would they make a shower door that leaks water outside??.

Relatively easy to install. Parts laid out nicely in sealed pack. A few minor complaints. The aluminum door hangers had to be cleaned up a bit with a file prior to installation to remove metal burrs that were left behind from the factory.

Also, the rubber stoppers for the side rails are a little soft. When you install them , be sure to carefully tighten the side rail screws to avoid breaking through the rubber stoppers center hole making it pretty much useless.

A small washer in the kit may have solved this problem for others. As mentioned by another customer, the wheels tended to loosen up after installation even though a lock washer was used. I tightened them up as much as i dare and hopefully it doesn’t continue in the future.

I remodeled my main bathroom Art Deco and got these shower doors to go with the geometric squares that is so prevalent with Art Deco design. These are stunning – most friends/family who came to see finished project commented on the beauty of the shower doors & wanted to know where to get them.

They look so much more expensive than actual cost, and the inside of the glass (toward the bath) has a coating allowing the water to dissipate so you don’t have water marks. Just make sure you don’t use chemicals on inside glass as it will remove the coating per the instructions.

High quality and made in the USA. A Kohler company. Satin nickel matches my Delta and Kohler satin/brushed nickel faucets, knobs, & other accessories.

I purchased this door because of the door handle style. I had previously installed a dreamline door when I remodeled my master bath and was really impressed with the quality of engineering but they didn’t have quite the style I was looking for in another bathroom I was doing in my house.

I went with this Ashton model. Big mistake. There is no comparison in the quality of engineering. the Dreamline is much better quality. I wouldn’t know any better if I hadn’t installed the Dreamline first.

The Ashton needed 5 holes drilled in the tub for mounting purposes. Dreamline uses one. The quality of the materials and the way the upper rod mounts needs much improvement. This Ashton model also stated it was reversible, which should mean the it has the glass coating to help with spotting on both sides of both pieces of glass.

That was not the case when I unboxed it. When I called to inquire about that problem no one ever answered or returned my call. The mounting materials aren’t as high quality as the Dreamline I installed.

I can’t comment on the quality of other shower door companies, but I do know there are several others that are high quality also. I am just speaking from my experience. I would not recommend this product.

I would purchase another brand.

This door is so beautiful and is exactly what we wanted. It was packaged carefully and came to us in perfect condition. It took 2 people to install this door, it cannot be done by yourself. It is way too heavy, but very durable.

Definitely need some skill to put together and install. So if you’re not a handy person, make sure to get professional installers. Definitely recommend buying it!!!.

Arrived on time. Installation was straight forward and not hard if you study the instructions and understand them before starting. (Measure twice or three times, cut once. ) Glass panels weigh about 90 lbs, so another person is required to avoid wall or door damage during installation.

The heavy glass panels basically hang on the metal rod, so adequate wall support is critical. I removed a fiberglass shower and installed double 2×4 studs on each side before cement board and tile under the bar attach points.

This door allows the walls to be slightly out of plumb where other doors I researched did not. The sliding door comes with a clear sliding seal to install against the stationary pane, and a full length clear cushion seal for the sliding door against the wall.

We prefer as clean a look as possible, so we have yet to install either one and there is little to no leakage. The only seal we used is silicone sealer along the bottom of the stationary pane, and a metal drip edge that attaches to the curb under the sliding pane.

Our walls are within 1/16 of an inch true, so there is very little gap between the wall and the stationary pane or sliding pane. We priced similar doors locally, and the estimates were $2800+ installed.

My whole reason for getting this frameless shower door was because our bathroom is pretty small and having a bulky shower curtain made it even smaller. The curtain visually cut off needed space. Wow, our bathroom honestly looks so much bigger and better now! No more ugly in the way curtain.

Instead we now have this sleek modern looking glass door that adds so much more than functionality. I love it! At first I was a little worried. We have 1 bathroom in our house for 5 people, so I could not endure some lengthy impossible to install process.

Thanks to my handy neighbor and a very thorough installation video, it was a piece of cake! This honestly is worth it’s weight in gold (and it’s pretty heavy! Lol). I truly believe you will not be disappointed with this elegant addition to your bathroom.

I’ve always liked the look of frameless showers panels and this one is beautiful. It is very heavy but very simple to install. At least thats what my husband said. It gives my bathroom the moder look I was looking for.

This glass shower panel has totally opened up the space of the alrighty tight bathroom. Depending on how it’s install you don’t have to worry about water running all over the place, this was my only concern.

Overall I am very pleased with how sturdy this piece is. If you don’t feel comfortable installing a piece like this on your own I would recommend hiring someone to do it. Luckily this is the second shower panel my husband has installed.

Great for a small bathroom that will totally open up the place and make it feel extremely modern and open.

If you are not very handy or do not have someone handy around the house, you will need to hire or get someone to install this. There is a link for a video on installation which helps. My husband was just able to go to the video and figure it out because he is pretty handy already, so the video helped.

The frameless glass gives it a beautiful seamless look. Looks clean and seamless without the track. The glass is fluted which is a great look. And the glass being frosted is nice as well. If you are like me with a house full of kids, us moms almost never get to take an uninterrupted shower without a kid coming in for some reason or other.

The frosted glass gives you a bit of privacy as it is not so transparent. It’s not completely private of course, but not as clear/see-through.

This review is for the DreamLine Duet 56-60 in. W x 72 in. H in Brushed Nickel. The door was easy to install and beautifully finished. All parts are labeled with an ID number and logically packaged into multiple plastic bags related to the install step.

Customer service is top-notch !! I broke an expensive part and called to purchase a replacement. They shipped me a new part free of charge to ensure I would be happy with my new door. This company knows how to treat customers !!!! Since they sell tons of these doors, customer service is typically busy.

don’t wait on the phone, leave your phone number and they typically call back within an hour. Some helpful hints from my install: 1. Read the entire installation manual before starting. 2. If your 3 wall width measurements (step #1) are nearly identical and wider than 56″, cut off an additional 1/8″ width from the top and bottom rails (not just the 2 1/4″ in step #2).

If your walls are nearly exact as mine are, you will have difficulty keeping the silicone on one wall profile (part #2) without the extra 1/8″. The 1/8″ is absorbed in step #7 (see below). 3. (Step #2) You only need to cut 1 end of the upper guide rail since there are no alignment holes to consider.

However, the top of the rail is rather thick and the rail is a few inches tall. If using a hacksaw to cut it, be sure to make your cut perfectly straight else you will see the crooked cut after the unit is installed.

I cut mine on a 10″ radial arm saw with a 60 tooth carbide tip blade for a perfectly straight cut, then polished the ends with a fine flat file. A chop saw with that blade will work fine too. 4. (Step #3) I would not attempt to install those screws with a hand-held screwdriver as you will likely strip the head before the screw is fully seated.

Use a screw gun and #2 philips bit, or better – take a trip to the hardware store and buy stainless steel hex head screws of the same size and install them with a 6 point socket. 5. (Step 6) If you built your shower new and have studs/wood behind the screw holes, don’t use the wall anchors.

Use stainless steel screws directly into the wood. Ensure the screws penetrate the wood at least 1/2″. Typically, a 1 1/2″ screw will accomplish this (pre-drill a smaller hole). 6. (step #7) Apply the silicone to the walls and shower base threshold, applying a thicker layer on the wall with the shower head.

Move the entire frame into the opening on an angle, shower wall in first, and 3/4″ to 1″ above the base threshold. After sliding the side opposite the shower head into place, push the entire assembly down on top of the shower base threshold, then check for vertical level and install screws.

Wipe off any excess silicone then wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. 7. (Step 9) This step should be accomplished with 2 people, especially when installing door B (the inside door).

Recently did a master bath remodel and installed the Duet doors. What a great product. Superior quality, awesome look and the smoothest doors know to man. Installation was easy enough on this non-professional.

Bought this Duet Dreamliner and was going to have a local bath & kitchen company install it. They were booking three (3) months out so I took a gamble, read the installation manual and decided to install it myself.

I did have a fear that I would cut the upper and lower rails wrong but I did exactly what the manual said and it came out perfect. Wow, did this really change to look of the shower bath. All of the parts were of quality and thicker than our old one and the glass was heavier and thicker.

Buying from Build. com was easy and the salesperson in technical support explained how to chose the size door from the rough opening measurements I gave her. We choose this model, the shipping was free and promptly delivered.

Some door handle parts were missing and one call to Dreamline’s technical support and our missing parts were on their way. The man we spoke to at Dreamliner located our purchase order, which was well over a month old, took the necessary information for shipping, and assured us there was no additional cost to us.

He was very helpful and polite.

This is gorgeous! I have not installed this yet, but from what I see, it looks to be very well-made. Everything was packed extremely well, the instructions are clear. Should be easy to install. I expect removing the old doors to be more of an issue.

Installing the Ovation Curve Tub Doors over the Ovation Tub was a game changer. The combination of the tub and the doors made the space feel significantly larger, open, and bright. Installation was a breeze even for experienced amateur.

The doors slide open and closed nicely and the stainless/brushed accents go nicely with the remainder of the bathroom accessories. I highly recommend these doors and the Ovation set!.

The Ovation curved tub doors allow an extra few inches of room between the wall and door for a very roomy feeling. The anti-slam feature is great, and the doors glide smoothly for ease of access. The brushed nickel finish is very attractive and easy to keep clean.

Added to the Ovation curved tub and surround walls, this a great combo to upgrade any bathroom quickly and easily at a good price.

Product was packed tightly and neatly, no damage when opened. I would recommend professional help with installation as this was a heavy piece, my husband struggled and almost hit the corners. Perfect for a person not looking for a complete remodel but just an easy update.

This is an excellent product and I am extremely happy with my purchase, however I do have a few recommendations. When the door is closed against the wall, it tends to roll back a little bit until the seal on the door is not making contact with the wall or wall seal (purchased separately).

Adjusting the rollers does not seem to help. However, if there were an o-ring installed on the rail, it could be adjusted by rolling it up against the roller in the closed position so that it would provide some resistance for the roller to have to go over before the door opened.

I was able to wrap some tape around the rail to perform this same function, however it does not look very good and it is too much of a hastle to remove the rail again in order to install an o-ring. One other thing I didn’t know is that muriatic acid causes stainless steel to rust.

I used muriatic acid to initially clean my tile floor and the fumes caused all of the stainless on the door to rust. I’m sure other customers have experienced the same, since these doors are commonly used on showers with tile floors.

It would have been a helpful tip if this were mentioned in the installation instructions/manual. The door seals provided were also not the greatest. The flapper pieces on the overlapping door edges are not long enough to extend to the other glass and this is the source of the leak to put a puddle on the floor after I shower.

This is a beautiful, solid, and well-made door. As other reviews state, best to get a professional install it though. Two teeny-tiny criticisms. First is the strip on the threshold to keep water out is square rather than a half moon.

The man who installed it for me recommended I get a rounded threshold step as the square hurts if accidentally stepped on. I am glad he knew what he was doing and recommended that. I got a nice acrylic one on amazon for $20.

Second is that it might be nice to have a full handle on both sides of the door (rather than handle on outside, tab on inside). Other than those two minor issues, I love the door! The installer was very impressed with the quality and even stated that he thought it was close to or even superior in quality to the the custom doors he usually installs for 3-4 times the price.

Gorgeous looking… many compliments. Not water proof. water gets out when u shower from under rear panel. Great for guest bathroom but problem with every day use … design flaw

I’m not expecting longevity. The door handles stick onto the glass–peel off the backing (like a bandaid) and just stick one on each side of the door. I can’t imagine those will stay put forever. There’s a plastic gasket for the door to stop against and a plastic sweep on the bottom; we’re not using either one.

We are omitting the threshold except for the part under the fixed glass and floor pivot and placing the glass close enough to the floor and jamb that the threshold and door sweep are not required. We installed in a zero threshold, roll-in shower.

In addition to the aforementioned alterations, we also had to shim the shower side of the threshold under the fixed piece of glass and pivot because our shower slants downward from the front to back of the shower.

It’s not fully assembled yet but we expect it’ll work just fine. There are more plastic parts than I’d like and the quality is far inferior, but I think this shower door will do the job and look nice too because we are omitting the parts that do not look nice and seem likely to fall apart.

It will also cost about $3350 less than the fancy custom glass in our primary bedroom bath, hence four stars.

If I had known installation was going to be this bad I would have returned it. Here is a list of the problems I faced: – There two screws at the top of the shower that hold the bar in place are self tapping and the aluminum door jamb is not tapped! It was very difficult to install those two screws.

Why is this not already tapped by the factory?? Why make the customer do it? – The door jamb is held onto the wall by 6 screws. You better make sure your drill holes for the wall anchors are precise to within the millimeter, otherwise you won’t be able to screw the it into the wall.

The holes for the screws have absolutely zero tolerance for error. – The instruction manual is generally very unclear. – The bottom aluminum strip is held in place with just silicone. This is not suitable, a real fastening mechanism should have been used.

– The door stopper is a rubber strip that adheres to the wall with just a sticky pad along its length. This part is cheap and will come off. Again, a proper fastener should have been used for this part.

Overall it is clear that quality was sacrificed in order to offer a cheap product.
