20 Best Tub Transfer Bench (2022 Updated)

Instructions were a little wonky but was able to get it together. It was completely apart.

This bench was bought for my 86 year old handicapped mother to replace different version of a transfer bench. The problem with the other was that it had a removable piece enabling access to private body areas held into the full seat with open mortises and tenons.

Unfortunately, the tenons started to break and my mother’s rear end kept getting pinched. She refused to use the bench without the piece. So I was looking for a bench with a one piece seat. This seemed to fit the bill.

This bench was easy to put together and is easily moved around and extremely stable. The holder for the handheld shower head is a plus as is the handle for helping boost the user up when getting out of the shower.

However, that handle can only go in one place depending on how you assemble the bench and it is not helpful if it ends up on the weak side of the user. Notwithstanding, my mother hates this bench. That coupled with 2 flaws is the reason for the 3-star rating.

First, the seat is designed to allow the user to slide into the shower from right to left or left to right depending how it is assembled. Regardless of how it is put together, this leaves 2 small holes open at the outer edge.

The maker should provide plugs for these holes. The bigger problem is that the wide leg that extends outside the shower makes it difficult to keep water inside the shower and not on the floor. I am pretty crafty but could not figure out how to adapt the shower curtain successfully.

The older bench had 2 legs outside the shower and it was easy to cut the shower curtain to go between the legs and into the shower base keeping most of the water inside. My mother is nowhere near as crafty as I and has had to resort to using an extra towel in addition to the bath mat to contain the water.

I don’t see this as a huge deal because the extra towel dries out over night but it is monumental to her. Hence, the downgrade from what would have been 4-stars to 3 because of the grief I have taken from her.

I purchased this item Moen Nonslip Adjustable Transfer Bench DN7105 for my disabled husband. It works perfectly, I put it together by myself in approximately 25 minutes. I had a bit of trouble getting it adjusted to my shower.

However, I finally got it accomplished and we are very happy with this purchase. My husband had fallen getting out of the shower and this is a great assistant in providing safety for him. Well worth the price, it is about $30 more elsewhere on the internet.

Great deal and I believe it has gone down even more since my purchase. Do not hesitate to buy if you need this for yourself or a loved one.

Really praying I can obtain this for my father. He served 23 years in the Air Force. Is now hospital bed and wheelchair confined. He does not want to go to a nursing home as he does not want to leave my mom, they have been married over 36 years.

We cannot afford a home aid, they only come out 1 time a week to check his oxygen and catheter but will not bath him and me and my mother struggle horribly trying to get him in the tub with the regular shower bench.

He can only lift his own legs about 2 inches off ground and weighs 241LBS. Praying!!.

The chair I received is not the one in the picture, they have updated it and the underseat mechanism is plastic and the chair feels extremely flimsy. I weigh 190 lbs and I am afraid it will collapse at a bad time.

I have the older version of this chair and it lasted five years, I only replaced it because the seat started cracking, I will try to repair that one and continue using it. This one will go in the basement and just be used as an emergency backup.

Very disappointed.

I used to have the Snap and Save that was out before this so called new and improved one (model # 37762) and it was the best but I had it for about 8-10 year and it was just time to get a new one. This one here is not as strong or sturdy as the older model.

The older one had handles on the side of the chair to help you balance while positioning yourself onto the seat or preparing yourself to get up from the seat. That red latch in the middle of the seat that you press down to release yourself to swivel is very uncomfortable if you have thick thighs as I do.

It’s hard to even it on one side with the other side so I had to try and build it up to make it even and I still feel as if I’m leaning to one side. It says it holds up to 350? This is the biggest joke of the whole product description.

I would love to see a person who weighs even 200 pounds try to shower on this seat. I can’t even sit comfortably on that seat and it does not feel as if it’s strong enough to hold me up and I only weigh 160.

The only way I can be slid and locked into safety so I can get up, is if someone holds the seat belt in a upward position and sweep it across the lock button in a quick action. This is not a good buy and I will try my best to see if I can get the old model or my money back.

Easy to assemble. A must have for people with limited mobility. Glides easily. All the person has to do is lift their legs while sitting, they can lean on the backrest, the seat slides and they are in and out of the tub.

Such a great help for the caretaker, too, who helps the person with their shower.

Quality product that makes bathing easier for the disabled. No anxiety about a slippery wet floor and fear of falling. The secure seat movement and easy assembly are big pluses for this great product! Thank you!.

Just so you know I had to take shower doors off to use. With no doors it works great. It was worth every cent. Parent had knee replacement.

The item works as intended. The reason for the 2 stars is the bench had been opened and returned. The box was in really bad shape. Apparently the bench may have even been used before it was returned as it had been assembled and it looked to have soap stains on it.

If I didn’t need it so much I would have returned it but as it was I disinfected it thoroughly and washed it vigorously to make sure it was clean. I would suggest the when an item is returned and the package has obviously been opened that Walmart personnel carefully inspect the item before reselling to someone else.

All that being said I would recommend the bench though in the future I would go to the store to buy it so I could see what I was getting before I got it.

l love this light-weight, easy to clean Transfer Bench. This bench is designed to allow on who is immobile to transfer from their bed to the bench. I use it as a bedside table next to my Queen-sized Intex Air Mattress purchased from Walmart.

This bench is adjustable for height meaning it is the perfect height for my air mattress. I can now place my small Lenovo laptop on the bench and also place my meals beside my laptop so I can eat and watch my shows on my laptop at the same time.

It’s just perfect for this. Much better than a traditional bedside table. It appears to be strong enough that it will last a lifetime. What I don’t like is the bottom part of the legs do not attach to the top part of the legs so whenever I move the bench I either have to slide it while holding the bottom of the legs or just pick up the bench and the bottom part of the legs detach from the top part of the legs.

There may be a way to secure the legs together but I haven’t found it. Having the legs fall out would be good if I wanted to put the bench in the trunk of a car or when moving the bench to the tub or something like that.

But for my purposes, I would like to be able to move the bench and the legs not fall out. That’s OK. It’s more important to me to be able to use my laptop and have my meals beside my bed. This Intex Air Mattress is designed to last for years.

Therefore, I am expecting both the mattress and this bench to last probably for my remaining lifetime. And, if I ever need to use the transfer bench to transfer myself, I already have own the bench. This Bench makes a huge difference in the quality of my life.

I might purchase another one to go in the bathroom. I could put my weight scale on the floor underneath it and put my reading material and a few towels on top of it. Perfect price. Perfect functionality.

I recently had the privilege of testing the Amazing Transfer Bench. The experience was incredible. To go from a little seat to a 3 panel seat with a backrest and arm rest was heaven. I’ve had falls in the tub that left knots and cuts on my head.

Thus, I stressed and worried due to falling without warning. My husband helped me in and out of the tub and stayed to watch me. However, things started to change when the Transfer Bench came in to play.

It gave me safety, security and courage. My husband is no longer needed when I bathe. It’s so easy to slide in and out of the tub without help. The Transfer Bench is a fantastic and fabulous product.

It has given me confidence, independence and assurance. It has enhanced my baths. I Love My Transfer Bench! I encourage all individuals with a disability or a 65+ senior to get a Transfer Bench. It definitely will change their lives for the better, the positive and the good.

I have been through a couple of different shower chairs. Having Cerebral Palsy my balance isn’t always the best and over the years I’ve lost quite a bit of mobility, so a shower chair is the way to go.

I like this chair because it has a back, the color is nice, the surface of the chair itself is less slippery than other chairs I’ve had, it has a handle, the suction cups make it more secure in the tub and they work very well and it has mold prevention; which in my experience with similar chairs, works very well.

The chair can also be built to face the direction that is needed with removable caps that pop off easily. The legs, handle and back can be assembled where and how they are needed as well. Multiple notches in the legs allow you to make the chair level inside the tub so there is no slant or to change the height if you’d like.

My last chair had the handle outside of the tub and I am trying it now with the handle inside the tub. With it on the outside of the tub it is in the way when you are getting in but with it inside the tub it seems to take up a lot of space that is needed to be fully under the water.

This is also the case for the suction cup feet. They are great and really keep the chair secure but they take up a lot of room in the tub so that less of the chair is under the water. I need to play with the height of the chair and I might also try the suction cups outside the tub as they make work on my tile floors and provide stability so that I could have the smaller feet inside the tub.

I am glad I have these options. I did also have to assemble the chair twice to get the direction of the seat correct but it wasn’t too difficult.

Don’t buy!!!!! The steel/aluminum pipes don’t line up!!! So I couldn even assemble it successfully. Online it says they don’t return this item, So I just walked into the store and returned it because it wasn’t even made properly to line the steel pipes together, They sure as heck better return it if it is made incorrectly and seat and leg pipes don’t slip in to each other.

If you can’t assemble it, it obviously can’t be used, and they better return it. They should check their products before mailing it out for medical use. I ordered a different brand because I don’t want a faulty product again.

First, the negative: The larger suction cups don’t seem to have a way to permanently attach to the legs that will be inside the tub. They usually stick to the tub surface and I have to remove them by hand when taking out the bench.

Also, it would be nice to have one more notch for raising the outside-the-tub legs and one more for lowering the inside legs. But our tub is an odd design, so that may not be everyone’s experience. The good news is that it does assemble without tools and wasn’t too hard to figure out.

I needed to use a YouTube video for some of the steps, but it got put together without too much hassle. Also the back rest it reversible, so that’s great because that’s the reason I got this model. For some reason, the ones a little cheaper only work if your faucet in on the left side of the tub.

Used it twice. Seems pretty sturdy & stable and will be helpful for both myself and my wife.

I love the fact that the seat is not rough but very smooth. It says the safety belt must be used but that is not necessary. I stay on it just fine. I love the sliding feature only I wish the seat would slide out just a little further.

It stops too soon leaving a gap between the chair and my scooter. It would also be nice if there were arms on the seat itself. I had polio, and lost the use of my legs. I still have one strong arm and one weak arm.

The arms would be nice to push myself up. Perhaps when I use it more I can figure out how to get over to my scooter better. I recommend this product – just be cognizant of what you need and don’t need.

I need to return this because it didnt work for me – because my legs are stiff and knees dont bend much I had to set up the chair with enough distance to bring my leg over the edge of the tub. This made me sit too far from the faucet to turn on or adjust the faucet.

The company demands a restocking fee of 20% – between that and shipping fee of $75 Im out $125. To charge a restocking of 20% on an expensive item is robbery.

First thing is to make sure the grove in the sliding clamp is lined up with release button. Then I found when in the tub the seat would not slide. I had a bad time trying to get out. Had to call my wife in for help.

I went back to my old chair.

For the most part I am happy with the bench. We have a bench in my parents home. I bought this for use at my home as It is much safer for my elderly parent. I discovered with this purchase, that the bench does not fit vertically in my tub, and the positioning was a bit different.

This was not an issue with the bench itself, but due to the interior shape/molding of my tub. The bench functions and works as it should. We are pleased!.

This bench for my tall (6 foot+) husband. It’s was pretty easy to assemble although I had some trouble with inserting the armrest and needed a friend’s help. But after that, it fit our needs perfectly.

It was easy to adjust to the different heights of the tub and bathroom floor. It’s light and easy for me to lift and move in and out of the bathroom.

I ordered a transfer bench from this company the product that I received had been opened and tampered with. I notified the company and they replaced the bench for me at no cost. I was allowed to keep the original bench so I plan to donate it to the Salvation army.

This is a great company and the bench is wonderful.

Easy to use, adjust and store. Very light which makes it easy to move. Overall great quality! We are using it for someone with Alzheimer’s with restricted mobility and shower time is now a positive experience for the patient and caregiver! We highly recommend this product.

Service from Target was excellent. Arrived as promised. Overall this item is much better than having my mother climb over and into the tub. It definitely helps with the bathing experience for the elderly and their caregivers.

It was easy to assemble and the leg height is adjustable and the legs fold so that it can be stored easily. My one main complaint is the location of latch to slide her into the tub. It may be a convenient location if the patient is right handed and can maneuver the sliding seat by themselves, BUT if you are trying to slide the person over, it is located in a very awkward location (toward the inside of the tub under the seat).

I had to literally get into the tub, reach down and slide her over. This could be something that DRIVE MEDICAL considers for future designs. I would still recommend this bench for the cost, convenience, works very well and is well constructed.

(Sturdy and able to support a grown person). Compared to more costly items, it is a good buy.

This sliding transfer bench is a good product. Easy to assemble. Light weight enough for me to handle or lift. Easy for my mother to use. For someone with upper body weakness or any diminished strength it is nicer than a standard transfer bench where they would have to use their arms to lift up and scoot along the bench into the tub area.

The seat unlocks and easily slides along a track into the tub/shower and then catches in the lock position securing the seat. Just for consideration- Her tub floor height is just enough above her bathroom floor height that we had to put the bathroom side leg adjustments above the last locking hole and the rubber ring on the leg.

It is secure this way and does not move. Both legs can be adjusted up and down but you should consider your tub floor height vs your bathroom floor.

Great for person who needs shower chair. Easy for person to sit down then slide over bench into tub. Much safer than just a chair bench that sits within the tub with danger of slipping stepping into tub.

Made well. Very easy to put together and adjust the height. The side grab bar can be on left or right side and the seat back also allows for placing on either side as well as center. Arrived 2 days.

Love this bench seat! I am lucky to have a nice big shower enclosure (approx 4×4 ft), but with the arthritis in my knees wanted a replacement for my old shower chair that broke. This bench seat is sturdy enough for my 230 lbs, wide enough to be easy to sit down safely even with soap in my eyes, and the one arm is enough to give me that extra boost up when my knees are hurting (the suction cup feet hold very securely to the bottom of the shower).

My grandma is a recent amputee and we needed something to help her gain some of her independence back. And showering on your own is a major part of that. So she wanted a bath seat that was wide enough that she could sit and scoot over with the least chance of her falling down.

I researched this one and it’s working great! The suction cups are really good (almost too strong since we have to remove it after her shower so everyone else can shower). But overall we’re pleased with this chair and would recommend it.

This is a sturdy, well made piece of equipment that went together easily. However, the bench has holes on the side that hangs over the floor. This makes it difficult to keep water off the floor which can create a slip hazard.

We cut the shower curtain to accommodate the bench, but it didn’t work to keep the floor dry. My mom hated the color also. She would have preferred white so it blends in more with the tub. It is effective in helping to get someone in the tub, but it’s effectiveness stops there because of the water on the floor issue.

seat larger than i anticipated. i have yet to figure out how to get the shower curtain lined up to not get water on the floor. had to remove the left hand hold bar as this bar held me somewhat on the outside edge of the tub structure, further complicating the shower curtain location.

otherwise the chair seems very sturdy, very adjustable and once i ‘learn’ the chair, it will serve my needs. the back of the chair is the most unstable feature, the back cannot be used as support getting up and down.

I really haven’t been able to use it yet as I have to change the glass doors to a shower curtain, so it is easier to use. The doors get in the way and the back of the chair gets hung up so that needs to be changed.

My sister-in-law tried it and said that was the coolest thing she ever saw and how much easier it will be to get dad in the shower.

The stool is made of great quality material, very sturdy, and easy on the eyes. The stool arrived on time, but upon assembly the parts were incorrect. I worked for a durable medical equipment company for years and the stool is very simple to put together when the appropriate parts are sent.

I am sending the stool back, not sure if I will order this same stool or not.

This bench is fantastic! It is heavy duty but still light enough for me to move in and out of the tub with a bad back. The assembly was super easy and the instructions are clear. If you pay attention to the illustrations you will find this super easy to assemble.

What makes it even easier is that the pieces fit together easily and don’t have to be forced. The pop-up pegs make for easy adjustments to the height. My husband loves this bench and the holes in the seat allow the water to drain so it doesn’t pool on the seat.

The shower head clip on the side bar might seam like a small thing but it has actually proven to be a huge benefit for someone with limited range of arm motion for reaching. I am thankful now that I decided to spend an extra $30 over the first bench I considered.

This is a great transfer bench. Really easy to assemble. (I had a stroke, so I am basically using one side and still no problem putting this together; just took a little longer. ) More space and much more stable than my last bench.

The suction feet on this REALLY work. Great buy.

My dad is 96 y/o and both my bathrooms had tub/shower combos and he couldn’t step over the tub to take a shower, this chair eliminated the risk of him falling and the ease of him sitting and getting his legs over the tub.

The twisting feature of the seat works great, he sits down facing outward and then we turn him towards shower and he puts his legs over as we slide the seat into place in the tub/shower. He is able to stand if he so chooses as it has armrests and non-sliding surfaces.

If I fear him falling and don’t want him to stand, there is a strap that serves as a seatbelt. The seat is padded so reduces the risk of compression sores, as well as no rug-burns from sliding as he doesn’t have to slide because the seat does the sliding.

I have a narrow tub and the chair fits perfectly over the tub with adjustable height(s), there are extension(s) available for purchase if extra length or height is needed. This product came in box needing assembly and this was the easiest assembly I have ever undertaken and honestly I didn’t even read the included instructions.

Purchased for my mother with Parkinsons. Excellent swivel and slide transfer tub bench. Made mine and my mothers life 100% easier and pleasurable for bathing. Highly recommended and I am an Occupational Therapist.

This product was purchased for an 87 year old individual and it’s the best thing ever. It function absolutely flawless. However I would like to add a tip. If you smear Vaseline on the sliding bar and locking button you don’t need a grab bar.

The motion becomes frictionless and works like magic getting in and out of the tub. I am a younger person and I am keeping this product for future use. Congratulations to the company who created the product.

I ordered this sliding transfer bench for my mother after talking her out of a 10K shower remodel. She is thrilled with this purchase! It meets her needs at a fraction of the cost. The assembly is super easy; the legs and backrest can be snapped on in just a couple of minutes.

I worked as an in home Caregiver for 6 years and this is the best transfer bench I have ever seen. I highly recommend it!.

My 94 year old mother loves this bench. She says it makes her feel more secure, is sturdy and lets her dry off while sitting down. Seat is not slippery and arms are a big help to get up and down. Easily slides back and forth, just push down on lever to swivel and push in knob to slide along.

She has arthritis but can work the knobs.

I ordered this bench thinking is was the same size as mine, but the legs on this one stick out more and so it would not fit in my tub. If you order this, make sure of the sizing. I checked for measurements but it didnt have any so in the end I had to return it.

This is a well built and designed piece of equipment that has made showering safe and comfortable. Worth every penny!

The best chair ever. Very durable, comfortable, sturdy, adjustable safe and stable. Its a little wide but my tub is older and it fit perfect. I showed it to my sister and she ordered one also. I use it to do pedicures to let my feet soak in the tub, wash my hair and shower due to arthritis.

Robust, elegant, simple design. A fabulous bath seat. Comes fully assembled except you can slip the back bars into their under tye seat slots if you want to use it. Fully height adjustable. I raised mine to the top then had to lower it so my feet couod reach the floor.

Yes, this dies fit ijti tye bath tub. Turn it sideways if you need more space. Very very sturdy.
