20 Best Tuner For Lb7 (2022 Updated)

Remember buying a faster computer and not noticing much difference until going back to the old computer? Kind of like that. I love the data access and recording. A few days after install I climbed a 16 degree dirt hill 75 yards in 4×4 with derringer (forgotten) at 6 and going to engine idle at peak.

The engine instead stalled dead at peak as if electrical power was cut off. It hasn’t done that since, and I run it at 4 now anyway. Unfortunately, I didn’t have data logging on then to do an analysis of what had happened.

That incident left me with a concern, but unable to know the true cause. I’m considering a “big three” upgrade and maybe alternator upgrade too, just in case it was a general power drop. Worth the cost? Probably, but I’d probably need to dyno to know it.

A power increase is easy to take as normal a week later.

I am very pleased with the Banks products I purchased. The installation was very simple and and the added performance is great. The data monster is a very nice tool to have also. I love being able to monitor everything that is going on with my engine and transmission.

The only issue I have is that the data monster does not power up sometimes when I start the engine. I have tried removing the OBD II connector for a bit and have checked all connections. Other than that, I absolutely love my Banks products and look forward to maybe getting the pedal monster next.

Great inline Tuner. It’s my second one. I had one on my 2018 and now this one on the 2022. I would buy another one for my next truck and probably will. I dash is the best part. Highly recommend getting this installed in your vehicle like yesterday.

Super easy to install yourself. Matched with the pedal monster is the way to go for sure. Enjoy driving again.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI was very excited to install the Derringer on my 2021 Duramax to see some decent HP gains while maintaining the extended warranty I have for the truck. The pedal monster works just like it says and makes a very noticeable difference, so I thought the Derringer would be a great addition.

Now, before I start with the negatives, let me say that while the Derringer did work, it was pretty sweet. Night and day between level 6 on the Derringer and stock and it felt like it turned my long bed Z71 into a hot rod.

Ok then after about a month or two of no hiccups, no lights, codes or anything of the sort, I got a check parking brake light, traction control light, check engine light, and reduced my engine power putting me in limp mode.

this is all while On I-5 at rush hour headed home from work. So after an hour of waiting I towed the truck to a local dealership and told them what was going on. they had me unplug the Derringer, Pedal Monster, and Super Gauge so they could get the codes read I suppose, but none of the symptoms came back that I had explained.

dumbfounded I got my truck back and reinstalled the Derringer, only to have the same issue return several times after. After every instance of the service parking brake, engine power Reduced, warning lights I uninstalled the derringer.

Hopefully it’s just a fluke, but the Derringer seems to do nothing more than cause catastrophic failure of my vehicle.

I feel like the derringer is not as refined as I was hoping for, the first day i installed it when i accelerated hard i felt my transmission hanging gears.

My truck has never hung gears before, the 10 speed has been amazing and always shifts so flawlessly until the day i installed the derringer. Maybe it needs to relearn the shift points again? It even though a trans code and i had to reset it.

It has not come back yet but has me nervous to harmmer down on the skinny pedal again. I haven’t pulled a trailer with it yet so I’m hoping the power will come in handy when doing so. Not a bad product but after watching all the videos online i was really hoping for more.

It caused an issue that turned on the check engine after 3 weeks and Onstar notified that they detected an issue with my engine/transmission system.

I took my truck to a mechanic and he had it for a day and his scanner read it saying it saying it was triggered by the fuel railing pressure sensor. After it sitting for a day everything returned to normal and I ran it on stock for a month.

Then the idash had an issue and glitched one day where it was black and then my truck reduced engine power, while I was on the freeway…. Needless to say I completely took out the tuner and I will be taking my truck in to the dealership to get it checked out because I still have the check engine… Before second occurrence, Onstar also gave a notification that it couldn’t read any of my trucks information too.

I will try to return it to get a refund because this product isn’t worth messing up your truck for “+81hp” that you don’t really feel.

So I bought this product about 6 months ago. When I installed it, it was great. You could definitely notice a change in shifting patterns and more power. All was good until I installed a new Carven TR on my 2003 tahoe.

I have been running the “tow tune” on my tahoe since I purchased the superchips Dashpaq and when the muffler was installed, my car ran like a dying dog. It lost all low end power. I thought maybe it was the muffler, but when I took off the tune, it ran fine again.

I then tried the “extreme tune” and the “87 tune” and they all ran the same. They definitely should advertise this product for stock vehicles only. Because if something as small as a muffler change affects the way the vehicle drives on these tunes, imagine with bigger changes like an intake or a catback system.

Overall I wish they would provide more info on the product. Save your money and get a blackbear tune or any custom tune for that matter.

This tuner has completely changed the way I view my truck. It has the 4. 6 3v which is a huge dog from the factory, and admittedly after many bolt-on parts it still was. This tuner mostly changed that, in terms of keeping my motor revved up and allowing me to be in its prime power band more often, not necessarily making more power(maybe 5-10 peak hp gain on the 91 octane tune running 93 octane pump gas).

Where this tuner shines is its three separate transmission maps, that completely changes the way the trans feels and shifts. The shifts are extremely fast and aggressive without being Jerky and power delivery is phenomenal and extremely smooth.

If youre lookin for a way to change the way your truck feels and/or make it go a tad faster, this is 100% the way to go. Now my favorite thing about this unit is the sheer amount of live data that you can view at once.

I just wish there was an easier way to change the color as well as more temperatures for the different fluids. Either way, 100% recommend this tuner to anyone hoping for that little bit if extra customization after doing basic bolt-on mods.

Ordered the DashPaq Diesel for my 2015 F350 XLT 6. 7L Power-stroke Turbo Diesel with 153k miles on it. Was skeptical at first, but this made a huge difference! My truck is completely stock right now and the first thing I notice with the built in “Extreme” tune was the throttle response, very little hesitation which improved my 0-60 drastically.

Not only that, gear shifting was a lot smoother. I was hoping that I could erase the Ford MyKey 80mph limiter because I don’t have the master ignition key but I am still very excited with the performance.

A little expensive, not sure how much it would cost to get a custom tune from a shop, assuming it would cost much more though. Haven’t tried the fuel economy tune yet, don’t know if I want to seeing how the truck performs now! Note: I’ve seen videos with a truck being tuned while running.

For this application, ensure you start the tune with the ignition key in the “run” position (do not start engine), then follow the on screen instructions. I will definitely be upgrading my air intake soon for an even better experience.

I recently bought an ’11 2500HD from a friend who took immaculate care of it. 93k mi. All stock, dealer serviced. As much as I like the idea of deleting it, it has become such a PITA that I decided Not to mess with it.

My intentions are for this to be my last truck as I am highly against dropping $80k+ on a new truck ever! That being said I wanted a safe option that would add a little juice and better drive ability.

Banks seems to really do their research when developing products so I chose the AutoMind2 programmer. I didn’t care about power gains so much as drivability. I did get an error message upon initial tune attempt.

Banks tech support indicated that my OEM ECM files needed to be updated. I hit the stealership and they updated my ECM ($150). After that the tunes load quickly and easily. I changed tire size so MPG’s and ODO.

Are correct now. I started with the “Sport” tune. It was good and honestly great MPG’s (18-19highway), but after I thought about what I want my truck to do (daily drive/tow occasionally) I switched to the “Work/Tow” tune.

I was expecting it to be lame because the gains were so small. Honestly the “Work/Tow” tune is my favorite of the tunes. Drivability is great. It takes off better from a stop, reacts better to throttle input and MPG’s aren’t bad either (16MPG combined, most in town).

Best of all the tow tune allows full OEM towing capacity so I can just set it and forget it. No need to remember to switch tunes for towing. Only things I’ve done in addition are Exergy system saver and an AirDog lift pump.

I plugged this thing in expecting it do be a throttle booster claiming to “add horsepower”. Took about 15 minutes the first to around, (following instructions very closely), threw it on sport mode and fired my truck up.

Noticed a little throttle response and my truck sounded different at idle. Rolled my windows down and started down the road. Waited until I was going straight and hammered down. I usually hit around 35 doing this by the time I get to the park.

When I finally gathered myself and let off I was doing 65 at the park. It felt like my truck lifted off the ground. After about 30 seconds of shock and loud childlike giggles, I hit the stop sign, took a left, waited until I got straight and 3/4 hammered down.

The truck left and I stayed behind. It’s mildly terrifying to say the least. I’ve tried the economy tune (21. 5 mpg @ 75mph empty, 75 mile highway run 2016 Chevy 3500 Duramax), tow tune (11. 5 mpg 75 mile, 8k lb 27′ camp trailer), and of course sport (holy balls).

The claims Banks makes about power gains fell accurate. I’ve never felt anything like this before. Best $400 I’ve ever spent on my truck. Will be buying a pedal monster as soon as the boss (wife) allows it.

What a difference this has made to my truck! More power, better shifting, and better fuel economy! I know that every truck is different and results vary. I drive 32 miles one way to work 5 days a week and went fron averaging 15.

8 to 18. 6! Now, with that being said, I usually set my cruise at 68mph going and coming. I don’t hotrod it every time I leave my drive way, parking lot or red light. I could, but I just don’t see the need for it! Highly recommend it!.

Overall the installation was easy to do. Couple of minor issues. The instructions are a bit outdated. In section 9 they state to refer to the Banks iQ software and installed kit, owners manual for software installation and operation instruction before beginning section 9 / Automatic Transmission Learning.

No such instructions came with the unit. Called tech support and they said the truck just needs to be driven in each power level before putting a heavy load on it so the transmission will learn when to shift.

No software installation is necessary. Seems the instructions are outdated and need to be revised. Next issue was feeding the cable through the existing harness grommet as per the instructions. The existing harness is very tight going through the feed through.

I was worried that I would rip the Banks cable connectors off the wires while trying to pull the through. Also it’s very hard to get to from the inside of the cab. I opted to drill a hole in the firewall in a more convenient location and add my own grommet.

This worked very well and was much easier. Last issue is the mounting velcro for the tuner. The glue on the back of the pads would not stay secure and just kept peeling off. I put additional glue on the pads.

So far so good. The superguage is great, easy to set up and install. Overall I’m very satisfied. Gave it 4 stars since Banks needs to update their instructions and provide better mounting for the tuner.

I can feel it on settings 4, 5, and 6 at full throttle. The only time I have ever really used full throttle is to test this device. I pull a 46ft fifth wheel toy hauler loaded to 18k lbs and there is no noticeable difference on setting #3 when pulling it.

The truck pulled the camper fine stock, and only had 25k miles on it. I don’t get in a hurry when pulling that much weight. One problem though. About every 10th time or so I start the truck the derringer fails to power on.

I have found that I have to shut down the truck, open the door, unplug the derringer from the obd plug, plug it back in, and then restart before it will function. An expensive piece of tech to have such a glitch.

Installed the Ram Air 1st, in stick configuration, all OK! Friday installed the peddle monster, i-dash and the derringer. I pulled the MAP sensor – it was cooked up 76k miles. I powered up and instantly got limp home message and MAF sensor P0102.

Looked at MAF, looked OK, but cleaned with sensor cleaner, dried it and reinstalled. I cleared the code by the Idaho. Powered up and still had code + service engine light, set up an appointment with dealer 4 Monday.

Left the peddle monster and idash, removed the ram air and derringer Saturday. Late Sat evening, the MAF code and idiot light were gone (stock configuration). Ran PU 70+ miles today, no codes, ran great, canceled dealer appointment.

I will install the derringer 1st and see if there is any code repeate, then install the ram air and check again. I did some resurch, Saturday evening on the forums, there were guys that had warranty problems at local dealers, running the same setup.

Also, speculation that the freer flowing ram air could confuse the ECU and throw a MAF code. Funny, no code on the plugged MAP sensor. Anyway, that is the plan for Monday, hope all works as planned, want to see how the PU likes the derringer and ram air.

Easy Install. Works great on my 2013 GMC 2500 Duramax Denali. **Issue when first downloading. Chose “Tow” as power level. Tuner froze on step 9 @ 11%. Had to unplug the tuner. Returned truck back to stock and performed download again.

DPF system was still installed on the truck. ** Ran install download again, but this time chose “Street” as the power level (Thought this was best option since DPF system was still on the truck). Download completed.

After this is when I removed the DPF from the truck. Ran install download again, but chose DPF system removed. Chose “Tow” as power level. Download completed. Running Great.

Only complaint I would have is that the instructions do not detail the the steps of the on screen prompts that are going to come up once you apply power to the unit. I had deleted the equipment prior to installing the programmer (waiting on mini maxx to arrive) and was worried about turning on the key prior to having the programmer downloaded.

I talked to a few people and confirmed it would be okay before I applied power. I didnt have any problems at all but I wasted a lot of time making sure it would be okay just because it wasnt stated in the instructions.

Note that H&S is no longer in business so they do not have anyone you can contact for information on this product. Once I applied power, the screen asks a series of questions about how my truck was set up.

Very easy. Ive only had this for a week, but no issues so far.

It also boosted my mpg by 2 in town. Very good product. Well worth the money.

Greatly increases the towing ability of my truck. All I have is a Fass 95 fuel system, and a BHAF, and this module has improved the trucks torque and overall power IMMENSELY! I wish I had bought it sooner.

This is a great way to control when I need some extra juice for towing or driving normal. Sad to say I wont use 4-5 settings. I dont need to, I dont want to put my engine or drivetrain through that, plus its my personal work and towing truck.
