20 Best Tuner For Plex (2022 Updated)

After getting help from Support, I got the Flex Dup working with my external USB drive. I love being able to record all kinds of shows. Works great.

Dish Hopper OTA Works on my hopper, not the Joey. Bought a muffin fan to keep cool. After scanned for OTA signals, the hopper automatically puts all channels into guide. Signals that are received but not quite strong enough into a seperate menu so u can adjust the antenna position, using a signal strength bar graph.

This adapter has nothing that isn’t included. Works perfert and as it should. 12/27/2017. Dave.

Exactly as advertised. Plug it in, connect your antenna, tune in to your Over-The-Air (OTA) and …presto!…you are good to go. Highly recommended.

The only negative thing I will say has to do with programming guide entries on the DISH Guide function. For my locals where I am located, only the PBS affiliate channels are showing the programming entries for programs.

All the other channels are showing just an untitled 24 hours of programming. This makes it necessary to do manual recording entries for shows that you want to record instead of the normal ability to select directly from your programming guide like you do for DISH channels.

Exceeded expectations, I wasn’t looking for more MPG but I’m surprised and certainly good with the improvement. Haven’t ran it put on hwy as of yet but mpg jumped 4. 6 on daily intown driving with a 15 mile commute.

Added response in the throttle and turbo has been worth every dime.

Deliver to my house an got stolen off the porch before I got home. Tried to get them to help me but the wouldn’t. If they would have a better support system I would have gave better rating.

It’s nice to have all your gauges in one spot when it works but the programmer freezes a lot and you have to unplug and replug it to get it to do anything and sometimes it drives fine then other times it makes the truck surge when driving even after updating it would not buy again.

The initial cablecard I obtained from Charter was defective. If the second indicator light from the left does not come on when you plug the cablecard into the HDHRP you need to take the card back to your cable provider and get a replacement.

If you plan on retaining one of your cable boxes and want to access on demand services with those boxes, make sure they don’t change your account to “cablecard only. ” Have had to reboot the boxes and the tuning adapters a couple of times to correct cable provider issues.

This is actually an improvement over the Charter DVR which required frequent reboots. WMC will not be available with Windows 10. Windows 7 extended support continues until Jan 14, 2020. Windows 8 extended support continues until Jan 10, 2023.

If your current operating system is Windows 7 or Windows 8 Pro (WMC only available with Windows 8 Pro) your best bet is to utilize WMC until you need a new computer that comes with Windows 10. Silicon Dust is working on DVR software that will replace WMC and be the only option if you want to view and record DRM protected content on a Windows 10 computer.

The DVR software is currently being Beta tested and is not quite ready for prime time. Your best bet right now is to stick with Windows 7 or 8 utilizing WMC until the bugs have been worked out of the Silicon Dust DVR software.

With WMC recorded DRM protected content can only be played back on the computer on which it was recorded. Content that is not DRM protected can be streamed to and viewed on any Windows device that is connected to your network.

The new Silicon Dust DVR software is supposed to fix this and allow the steaming of protected content to other Windows devices on your network. The HDHRP is also capable of streaming content to non Windows devices on your network.

I am not familiar with this aspect of the product but a little research will get you up to speed on the topic.

Hopefully this info is helpful: In your diagnostic front page, make sure that it shows. Card Authentication success Card OOB Lock success Card Validation success The info the cable company will need, is the CableCARD ID, Host ID, & Data #’s.

Take note, AFTER the card gets validated, your data number will probably change, stay on the line with the tech till the new data number matches on their end as well. Once you get the go ahead, then scan for channels and they should all be there.

I have this setup for 5 computers and 1 android. I had DRM issues on one PC, On the other I had to reinstall the HDHomerun software to get it working in WMC. The DRM issue PC was my HTPC/Gaming computer that’s connected to the big screen.

Got that issue resolved and dang, it sure is nice getting rid of the cable box. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard/touchpad and a WMC remote connected to that setup. Android SD channels all tune just fine, HD channels stutter every once in a while (Galaxy S5).

Also, for those having the dreaded DIGITAL CABLE ADVISOR failure, try this. Check your MONITOR driver. On 2 of the PC’s I configured, the DCA failed on the video card, after updating drivers and what have you, I still had the issue, so I’m flipping though driver info for the displays, and I notice that TEAM VIEWER was set as the driver provider.

All I did was ROLL BACK the driver, this allowed me to keep using Team Viewer and pass DCA using a Microsoft provided driver till I downloaded updated ones from the manufacturer. It does take some skill to configure this unit and I wanna say each of the individual problems I encountered were solved with just a bit of research.

I would hope that others who purchase this unit and have problems with it, don’t hate it right off the bat. research the problem, get it setup right, it works fantastic!!.

Being a computer nerd since age 9, I’ve always had a few extra computers lying around. I took three of those computers (w/ Windows 7 and Windows Media Center) and this unit and ditched the HD DVR and 2 HD set top boxes I was renting from Comcast.

My bill went from $110/mo to $65/mo enabling me to save enough money to pay for this unit very quickly. Long story short, I have a fully functional DVR and two “set top” machines that I can use to watch live TV and watch the recorded TV stored on the DVR.

I highly recommend having a gigabit network if you try something similar to me as this unit can throw around enough data to max out out a 100mbps network easily. If you have Comcast or another CableCard television service and a little tech knowledge, I highly recommend purchasing this unit.

It will pay for itself and save you money in the long run. I personally have loved having complete control over my television equipment. I no longer need to have a Comcast van visit me or run to a Comcast service center to swap out equipment.

If there’s a problem, I get to fix it and it almost always takes less time to fix than it would if I had Comcast do it. Owning your own television equipment and modem/eMTA and receiving Comcast service through them is a great, and somewhat comforting feeling.

Plus it saves lots of $$ over the years–what’s better than having a lean monthly bill without sacrificing service? If Silicon Dust products aren’t your cup of tea, I would imagine you could achieve this same result with the Hauppage or Ceton network connected tuner counterparts.

Since dumping cable TV and going the Netflix / Blu-Ray route, I’ve been missing NFL games. Finally broke down and got an antenna installed for OTA viewing. I have two TVs, but one did not have an integrated ATSC tuner.

That one did have an Xbox 360 attached, so if I could get the signal to my Win7 box, I could use Media Center both as a DVR and a way to watch live TV via the 360. I waffled between an integrated PCI card and these, and finally chose the HDHomeRun as an external solution that would be easier to replace / upgrade as needed.

It is working GREAT in this capacity. Connect the two antenna cables, connect to my network switch, plug in power, then install and run the software on the PC. After that run Windows Media Center setup to find the tuners.

Takes a bit for the channel scans in each software, but works like a champ. The Xbox 360 was already set up as a Media Center Extender, so just when to Media Center on the 360 and started watching. Nice and easy!.

For the price point that you are paying, you definitely do get what you pay for. So do not expect a beautiful menu display or anything like that. It does the job and gets the shows I want to see recorded, I was able to cut myself from cable.

Just remember folks, you are not buying a nice uber customized menu DVR / PVR that worked seamlessly with your cable provider, such as a Motorola variety. but the Term does the job, and it is much smaller than expected, so a good space saver too!.

Found my local stations. Had no issue with it working with my Seagate 2TB drive. Unit can be balky when trying to view channel information. Occasionally the audio and video go out of synch – fixed with a reboot.

Good value. Records and plays back fine otherwise.

The tune altered my f350’s shifting, even when it wasn’t part of the tune. Resulted in harsh slamming through the gears. Notified the product manufacturer TWICE, but got no response to remedy the problem.

I REALLY wanted a mild, working tune that provided the use of a higher octane fuel and remove the speed limiter, but SCT BDX wouldn’t give me the time of day. I wouldn’t recommend this product to my worse enemy!.

IšverstiShow in original languageI was looking for something to reprogram my speedometer for bigger larger tires on my truck. This programmer does that! You just have to know what the tire height is (exactly) and it does the rest.

As a side benefit (for me) it also has preprogrammed tunes for your truck, ranging from economy (which I used), to power, towing, and performance. The only drawback is that is only works with 1 vehicle at a time and you would have to reset your truck back to factory settings, in order to program something else (it is VIN Locked).

The price is reasonable for the preset tunes and tires, you can also program shift points for your auto trans, if you wish. Myself, I used the Economy tune and it has changed the shift points for me.

I can still use “Tow/Haul” mode on my shift selector, without effecting anything. Overall, my fuel economy is slightly better, on my 2500HD Silverado, driveability seems better and the speedometer is correct again!.

I let my car run at idle for 10 mins noticed right away the idle was much more constant no drop off when the engine warmed up and smooth. My exhaust for sure sounded louder and more rumble to it ! So went to drive it on the road and wow the throttle response, was there and the power on a performance tune no lag got up to speed much faster and shifted quicker.

Pros: Good price for it Noticed the increased power/torque Lightweight Cons : You can only use this on one car or you will need to go back to your stock tune or to use the scan feature on a other car/truck.

Weird it says just performance tune not one for 91 or 93 but it does say just use both gas grades.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ve had the tuner for a couple days now and it definitely woke my 02 gt up. Just got the car and it was bone stock auto convertible just for driving back and forth to work every day.

Don’t really ever plan on trying to make big hp with this car since I’ve already got other cars for that. I have the sctx4 in my 08 3v and I’d say it’s definitely better especially having the capabilities of having custom tunes sent to it.

But if you don’t plan on ever getting a custom tune or just want an extra little bump in power this thing will do it and it’s over $100 cheaper than the sct. It’s very easy to use and id say the claims of 30hp and 40ft lbs of tq are pretty close with this thing.

I’m using the 91 performance tune and also adjusted my shift points up and the shift pressure up. The car went from running a 15. 2 @ 90mph to a 14. 6 @ 97mph. I did add a cheap eBay cold air intake along with the handheld but that was it.

Trying to get the car down in the 13’s that should be plenty for an every day work car. Plan on doing a j-mod and 4. 10’s next. Also have a 75mm tb, sve intake plenum, tb spacer, and intake plenum spacer doubt those mods help with much but they were cheap which is the whole concept of this little project.

But back to the handheld it’s definitely worth the money if your car is basically stock and you just want an extra little boost in power and never plan on going with a custom tune.

I’m pleased with the purchase, installation, and use of the HDHomeRun Connect Duo. Previously I had only one TV with a connection to my antenna, all the others were connected either to U-verse or my home network.

I canceled U-verse, and started watching OTA programs. Adding this device was a great upgrade to my home. I disconnected my TV from the antenna and connected the HDHomeRun instead. I plugged it directly into my home Network using the Ethernet cable.

Right away I was able to watch TV on any of my connected TVs and also on my computers, tablets, and smartphones. That is nice because everything is connected without the signal degradation typical of wiring an antenna to many receivers.

The “HD” app that Silicondust provides is basic an very usable. I really like the way it shows what’s on all the channels without having to surf through them all to see what’s on. I also use this with a Plex.

tv home media server that lets me see my media on all my TVs and devices. HDHomeRun integrated nicely with Plex, adding a “Watch Live TV / DVR” function to Plex. I also really like the TV guide and DVR functions that Plex provided for the HDHomeRun.

Overall I’m very satisfied. I can see what’s on, including future shows, and I can record current or future shows, pause and rewind live TV, and watch one show while I record another. The only downside is that my TVs that are connected with Roku over WiFi seem to have bandwidth issues from time to time and often have to “rebuffer.

” Oddly, this happens from time to time with my wired devices too, where I would not expect that to happen ever at all. For that reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars in the review. Installation and setup were a 5-star experience with no hitches, and “plug-n-play” experience.

I would buy this again, and recommend it to anyone with similar needs.

Easy to setup, all apps xbox one, android and fire tv, work seamless it would be nice to be able to watch outside the home, but not super important for me at least. DVR feature requires $35 subscription one thing that kinda bugs me, my xbox tuner allowed 30 min free.

I tried using it with plex it doesnt work as well as the dedicated app. so getting a $150 plex lifetime pass may be off the table, but then you would be Be to record to your network drive and that is a lifetime subscription as long as plex doesnt dissapear, it’s been around for a while, so $35 with a seemingly more stable app for DVR function or $150.

that’s 4 years I’ll have to decide if I really want the feature. Make sure your antenna is well positioned remember the box is used as the conduit to your network and the tuners whether it be 2,4 or 8.

So my best advice. I have tried so many antennas indoor sorry if you looking for outdoor. big, small, square buttons and multiple antennas that look like aliens are all the same I have not yealded any more channels on any.

some may have boosters with a plug USB or electric, there is a purpose for that but sometimes it makes it worse so scan your channels both ways and see what works. You might get frustrated finding the sweet spot in your home have patienceand you will be happy when it hits.

I like to keep my antenna loose so I can easily tweak it if a channel freezes. Even in the sweet spot it happens sometimes. So just get the cheaper antenna buy used from local sale there is no one antenna better than the other it’s just an antenna.

But definately buy the HDhomerun, they have multiple options to suit your needs whether it be OTR or Cable to Sat check out there site and enjoy.

I bought HDHomerun 3 months ago. It’s easy to install but not run smoothly. Device does not pick up all available local channels. I switched back to antenna and it worked fine then switched back to HDHomerun same thing, device didn’t pick up channels.

I tried to contact the support, they could not identify issue (took almost a week to get response from support). I had to fix problem myself. The support is useless. I currently has another issue with device, there is blank screen on TV when I use HDHomerun, again I switched to antenna, it works just fine.

I contacted the support, couple days ago, NO RESPONSE AT ALL. I’m tired of all these issues. I had bad experience with HDHomerun.

This tuner is ready to go straight out of the box. It comes with a battery but is equally happy using a pedalboard power supply. The battery compartment is underneath the pedal and has a simple clip arrangement, meaning it’s easy to access without any tools.

As soon as it’s powered up and you’re plugged in you can tune straight away. It starts off in bypass mode (totally quiet in my setup), and you click the footswitch to activate tuning mode. The pedal is angled towards you which probably aids visibility of the display a little, and the angled look is undoubtedly cool-looking.

There are three tuning modes which simply serve to alter the pattern the numerous LEDs follow, and it’s very easy to select the mode you want (it remembers your selection the next time you switch it on too).

It’s chromatic, so you can tune any string to any note and it will give you an accurate tuning. You can also fine tune the frequency, which by default is set to the standard most other tuners are set to (440Mhz, I think).

The different LED colours, their arrangement and their movement mean tuning is quick and intuitive, whichever mode is selected. My pedal is finished in a smooth and glorious blue colour and it sits on a black base with a square rubbered foot at each corner, keeping it raised a coupleof millimetres off the ground.

1/4 inch input and output jack sockets are located on opposite sides of the pedal, and the top edge houses the mini-buttons for frequency, tuning mode; and also the socket for a 9V DC power adapter. An extra and really useful additional function is the DC out socket which will also provide 9V DC power for another pedal, as long as it’s not ridiculously power-hungry (200mA max).

I’ve owned it about a month and it functions perfectly, but it’s not been gigged yet, although it does look and feel roadworthy. Most of the top tuners have pretty much identical functionality, so I have mainly been swayed by the amazing price (31.

80 delivered!!); the big and bright display, which means it should work well outdoors in the sun, and indoors on a dark stage; and the bonus function of being able to power another pedal. Whatever your tuning requirements, this deserves your serious consideration, whatever the price.

Great tuner, very responsive, even on bass, and able to be calibrated. Bought for the very large display, which makes for great ease of use most of the time (easier than the Boss TU in difficult situations, though I couldn’t say if it is more accurate).

However, even this can struggle on stage when the lights/sun are in the wrong position. The mute function is a necessary feature for any tuner intended for use in a live situation.

Pedal display is easy to see when sitting or standing. I like the strobe settings as they help me get the best tuning. Tuner settles down quickly to show if I’m tuned high or low — many others tend to jump around a lot.

Pedal case and switch seem sturdy enough, and it’s easy to set the pitch calibration and display modes. I got this for the tuner, but also because it shuts off the signal to the amp when I turn on the tuner.

This is perfect for changing guitars or connections or clearing out the memory in my looper, so this pedal is the last thing before the amp. Only one complaints: it turns on and off by inserting or removing the input guitar cord.

I don’t like having to unhook things every time I’m done playing. The instructions say it shuts off by itself after 4 hours, so my only concern is how much that drains the battery, haven’t had it long enough to see if that’s an issue.

I wish it showed which OCTAVE a string is tuned to (like “E2” instead of just “E”), this would take some of the guesswork out of retuning after replacing a set of strings. I also wish it had an accuracy better than 1 cent (1 / 100 of a half-step or semi-tone).

That’s what most tuners claim, and a guitar still needs some fine-tuning by ear once most tuners say it’s correct. But this one, using its strobe display, seems just right.

IšverstiShow in original languageFord didn’t include regen info data on 2016 Lariat and higher models. I purchased derringer/data monster and now look around regen status, soot percent, and have ability for stationary regen but have not tried yet.

Ability to read and clear codes is huge to me. Derringer is set at level 3 with 30hp/120lb ft added. Turbo lag gone. Mileage same to slightly better. Truck is very smooth. Data guage has too many functions to list.

Tire size/speedo correction helpful. Gale Banks videos on various topics, particularly air density help show the value of the guage. Banks products work as promised and are safe. I will never trust my expensive engine to anyone but Banks.

IšverstiShow in original languageLove it! I even switched out my throttle controller for a pedal monster when I learned it’s controlled with the data gauge. I put on the Banks Derringer and tuner/gauge/pedal monster, cold air intake and rear differential cover and I am so impressed with this company.

I did it all in stages and so I was able to feel the difference that the tuner and pedal monster made, then the CAI. Let me tell you, I’ve put on numerous CAI’s before (first Banks one though) and it is the first time I could actually feel a marked difference in performance.

All the others were like “maybe I feel something. ” Plus I love that it doesn’t increase noise at all in the cab. Great job Banks! I’m sold 100%!.

IšverstiShow in original languageBest truck performance part i have purchased for my truck. Firstly the Derringer Tuner itself. There’s a big difference when you run stock vs. any level on the Derringer.

Their seemed to be a bit of a lag stock. Not anymore. If I press the gas pedal she’ll scoot pretty good for an otherwise stock truck. Now the DataMonster. I already cheated because I have had purchased a SuperGauge prior to this.

So I already had a good idea on how to use it. At first silt can be a bit much with all that you can monitor. But because I was able to Monitor so many parameters at the same time. I was able to catch my alternator going out in my pick up before it even became an issue.

It’s great pulling up so much info on my truck. This gives me a better idea on where my truck is getting robbed of power. Great product over all.
