20 Best Turkey Box Call (2022 Updated)

After watching the video on Primos web site about the LIL Hook Up. They say it it just a smaller version of the full size, they show a little about how to use it including using the gobble band. The LIL Hook Up does not come with a gobble band, nor can you purchase it separately.

So their video is misleading. If you want the gobble band you will have to purchase the full size.

This box has a very silky paddle with very mellow tones resonating from the main body. The roll over in the two note yelp is perfect. Would have given it five stars but it lacks volume I’m working on trying to get more volume out of it but haven’t found it yet.

I’ve been tricking them with the Foolproofs since the 1980’s. Back then the local Walmart stocked up on the Lynch’s. I would wait until turkey seasons ended and grab up the Fool Proof’s for $3 or $4 each.

I have 2 still. One I have hunted with for 35 years. I’ve sat on it and broke it multiple times and everytime I glue it back together it sounds a bit more raspy and realistic. Can’t go wrong with the Fool Proof.

This season will be my 39th spring in the turkey woods. For nearly four decades I’ve both hunted and guided turkey hunts in the southeast. The first Lynch’s fool proof I owned was given to me by a friend of mine in 1978 and it would prove itself to be the end of all other turkey calls that I owned or would ever buy again! This call is one of the last remaining hold outs from days long gone ,when craftmanship and skill mattered and marketing was done soley by word of mouth alone and confirmed with field testing in the real world.

There is no other box call on the market that can match it,in the way of tone quality,versatility, range of notes, volume control and realism, in the hands of someone who can play this instrument. This is not simply a turkey call.

but a musical instrument that has played a dirge for countless numbers of turkeys in it’s time. Once I mastered my first lynch’s fool proof, over thirty years ago, I never looked at another. That call was my partner for 18 of those years until I finally just wore it out and laid it to rest on a cypress stump and you could literally wallpaper a house with the fans and beards it collected.

Today I own five. One is over twelve years old and the others various ages inbetween. Like all well crafted wooden instruments,guitar or violin,these calls mature with age and use and each one developes it’s own unique voice and no one is the same.

Yet each and everyone is matchless in performance. When I hunt or guide I carry two at a time and switch them up during the day and always when I’m working a bird and with the incredible range they have and the variations in each ones independant voice.

a gobbler never hears the same note twice and each one he hears is as identical to the real thing as you can get. I have some good old friends and highly accomplished turkey hunters at my side every year and when we hunt together they never pick their own calls up! The one tip I have for anybody who wants to hunt a lynch’s fool proof is.

it does not take long to become adequate enough to call a turkey on this call. but to truly master one you need to approach it as if you are trying to learn an instrument,but once you understand what they can really do, I highly doubt you will ever pick another call up.

These are turkey calls for turkey hunters designed by turkey hunters and there is no other call like it!.

The call is very intuitive to use making it effective with very little practice. That being said, make sure you Google how to use it. As well as what a real turkey sounds like.

I have this box call and got another for my son. I have used mine to harvest many turkeys and he asked if I could get him one. I hope he has success with the new one.

This is all new to me but I think I have it figured out. It came with some instructions and different calls I don’t have them mastered yet but I think I got it right

i am new to turkey hunting and ordered this call with a box call and a crow call also. this call is not as powerful as a box call but the ease of use to make hen sounds is nice. i watched some youtube videos of box calls and learned the different sounds hens make and was easily able to replicate them with this call.

the other thing i like is that i can lay on the ground and balance my shotgun on my back pack in front of me to take the shot and still use this call in my off hand under my guillie poncho. you can use this with one hand as opposed to having to use two hands with a box call.

it really is water proof too! my only gripe with this call is that the spring squeaks a little, but i cant gripe that much because i used this to bring in a tom real close to the decoys and it gobbled back at it more than enough times en route.

i would recommend this call coupled with a box call to have a deadly set of tools to use when turkey hunting.

Used this call since it first come out 30 to 40 years ago.Very user friendly. You can tune the call. Small light weight and concealable one hand operation.

The “spring”, or whatever its called, popped out rather easily. I figured out how to fix it. I’m new to turkey hunting, so I don’t know if my appraisal is accurate. It seems to be somewhat fragile, and probably not something that would last for many seasons.

I own several Cass creek calls, including turkey and varmint calls, so i was already sold on their products. I have not had a chance to put the boar call to use in the field yet, but based on the sounds it produces I would fully expect it to work as effectively as the others.

Volume is a bit low for long range calling, although I would call it adequate. However, the call comes with a speaker jack and I intend to use it with the Cass Creek speaker I already own, which has proven highly effective on turkeys.

I’ve shot these out of my handi rifle for deer and the results were great! Dropped one on a 40 yard shot and one ran maybe 40 yards on an 80 yard shot. They tend to be on the cheaper side of 44mag ammo also.

This is great because my rifle shoots them well. I will have to dust the 44 off as the past few years I’ve been hunting wide open areas and need a caliber with more range.

When I took this Yelper out of its package, I had to put the thing back together which is not a good sign! It has a thin wire which acts as its “spring. ” I had trouble with the part that makes the yelping sound staying in place.

I am not impressed with the structure of this device. As for sound, it does sound turkey-like. I haven’t taken it afield in large part because I’m afraid the thing will need 2 hands to operate which defeats the purpose.

Easy to use. Bought this fir my grandson who was having a bit of trouble using a mouth call. This easy to use yelper is giving him confidence about getting in to the woods for his first turkey season

It is easy to use and makes a good sound. at first. I believe it is critical to keep this box chalked and dry to ensure it sounds good. It got a little most through my coat in the rain and was done for.

I will place it in a baggy next time.
