20 Best Turkey Broadheads 2022 (2022 Updated)

This broadhead shoots the same as my field points and is as good as any and better than most when it comes to taking game. I have not lost any game when using this broad head. I used to shoot the NAP Spitfire but lost a few deer on sharp angling shots.

Only one blade opened and the arrow deflected. The design of the Trocar HBX will not do this. I shot this 8 at 61 yds. with my Ten Point Crossbow he only went 20 yds before folding up like a cheap card table.

I recently have switch to a crossbow due to shoulder injury. I have always used a fixed broadhead. Reluctantly, I felt I needed to look for a mechanical that would work well with my new Ravin. I decided to try the hybrid, Muzzy Trocar HBX Hybrid Crossbow Broadhead.

My first deer was shot at 45 yards. The doe dropped where she was standing. At first, I was confused and somewhat disappointed, as the arrow was still projecting from her side. While I really did not know how these new broadhead would perform, I was expecting a pass thru.

Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the bolt broke. The broadhead continued thru the deer and exited. I found the broken end of the bolt and broadhead close by. The broadhead was in perfect condition.

I was delighted with the performance of this broadhead. I have not had an opportunity to use it again, however, I am looking forward to this early season hunt with confidence that this broadhead will more than do the job.

Oh…I practice out at 50 yards and they fly true!!!.

I have yet to shoot a deer with these broadheads. I ended up removing the mechanical blades for sighting them in and they are extremely accurate. I hit the bullseye every shot from 10 yards out to 50 with my Excalibur over crossbow.

Without the expandables in they have great penetration. If I remember I’ll update this after I shoot a deer with them. The one thing I don’t like about them is there isn’t a Target broadhead made for these.

It’d be need if the next design they put a set screw through the mechanicals to lock them so you can practice with them.

I bought these because I liked the idea of the 3″ wing span, but they will not work with my crossbow. No where does it say they are not crossbow compatible. They are to wide and would hit on the foot pedal if I was to shoot it.

Going to a 22″ bolt is still too short and doesn’t fix my issue. Compound bow they look like they would do some damage. I wish it mentioned they don’t work with crossbows and I would have moved on.

I bought these about a month ago just to change up what I was used to. I have shot NAP and Rage since I started bow hunting and each of those has had at least one failure to deploy. Fast forward to 2021 and I now have a bad shoulder so I have to drop my poundage from 70 to around 58 so I was looking for a broadhead that could give me a massive wound and deploy quickly, alone with 3 blades for a little added assurance.

Doe came into 20 yards, put this broadhead right behind her shoulder and watched her cut a front flip less than 30 yards away as she was dead in less than 10 seconds. Wound was massive, internal damage was lethal and precise with a complete pass through.

Only issue I’d see where people would want to know about is that this was not a massive deer, and the ribs still bent a blade. Probably a 2. 5-3. 5 year older doe, so the rib cage is not like that of a mature buck.

Only one blade was damaged, and I honestly could care less. I don’t bow hunt enough, cause I’ll turn to guns as soon as season opens, to really want/need to keep broadheads in peak condition use after use.

You can’t reuse a bullet or she’ll after you shoot it. I wasn’t mad when I found some buckshot or a mushroomed. 270 in the deer I shot last year cause I couldn’t reuse them. So why would I be mad that a lethal shot resulted in a non-usable blade? If you’re an avid bow hunter know, the blades are thin, sharp as a scalpel, and are more than likely going to bend if you hit any bone.

If you’re like me and you take one deer a year with your bow, and you’re looking for an unbelievable cut… put the other stuff down, and pick up this broadhead.

I haven’t bow hunted in a few years and had the opportunity to get out again this year. I went to the local shop and trusted their recommendations, which included Megameat broad heads. With a little practice off to the woods we go.

God was good to me and sent a shooter buck my way. I made an accurate shot at 35 yards. I was amazed when I got to the blood trail. In 25 years of deer hunting, I have never seen such a massive blood trail.

He only went 60 yards. I would have seen him go down except for the thick brush. MASSIVE ENTRY AND EXIT HOLES! I am totally impressed. Yes one of the blades bent, either on a bone or something in the ground, after a complete pass through.

So what. These will be on every arrow I throw at a deer. Thanks for the help. Clean quick kill.

I have used G5 T3 broadheads for last 5 years now they are discontinued. Know how great the T3s where I gave the megameat a go. I shot my buck nice clean pass thru and nice holes too. After inspecting the arrow afterwards all the blades were bent and broken and the aluminum shaft that connects the point and the arrow bent.

So its a one time use broadhead.

Heavy deep six arrow + a 1. 5” cut is devastating. Holes like a mechanical with no failure issues. Penetrates like crazy. So glad they back in stock. My go to combo after 30 years of hunting. I’ve compared so many combos.

Here’s a 4mm deep six FMJ arrow with 125 Ramcat vs a 5mm FMJ with 100 grain mechanical – one example of many testings. Both arrows ended up weighing within 10 grains of eachother. Endless examples like this.

Thx for bringing it back in stock. Last buck I shot with it made it about 15 yards as usual with complete pass through as usual.

This broadhead is the best I’ve used in 15 yrs plus of hunting. Shot a mid 150 10 point at 37 yds and recovered him less than 35 yds of where I shot him. Not a perfect hit lungs/ liver and not having to lay and wonder will I find him in the morning.

They could charge 50 dollars for this and I’d still buy them.

I used these 2 times and both times very little penetration. These shots were in the vitals no hard bone. I’m very unsatisfied. I thought these would be great, boy was I wrong. And by the way I watched a video by rage before putting on shock collars.

I also shoot a pse 60 pound draw with fmjs, my arrows are heavy. I will stick with my swackers.

I bought this product around 2 weeks ago. I am new to archery. My favorite part of this broad head is the blades on the back. I’ve been practicing with them frequently and the blade on the back makes it easy to pull out of the target.

They also shoot great just like a field point. Hopefully I’ll be able to harvest a deer this season with them.

The Ravin aluminum crossbow broadheads work as advertised, they fly accurately, do not open/deploy when shot, create a pass through, and allow for a good blood trail to the downed deer. I teamed up the Ravin aluminum broadhead, with Ravin lighted bolts/arrows, and my Ravin R26 crossbow with excellent results.

Two deer were harvested during the Illinois archery season. The expanding broadheads were my first experience using an expandable broadhead and I was not disappointed with the results. Both deer harvested had the broadhead open upon target impact, pass through the deer and created a large wound that caused the deer to travel about 40 yards before expiring.

In both cases the recovered broadheads remained sharp, in excellent shape, and reset for additional use.

Shot 5 deer so far with these broadheads, one deer got away since I hit it too far back. All others went down quickly. All had complete pass through. Shoot close to field points out of my Ravin R29 crossbow.

I like that there are no bands, pins or washers to replace. Blades can be resharpened and used again. My only complaint is that one of them was without the tiny nut that holds the blades in when I took it out of the package.

What I like most about the Ravin broadhead is the lack of rubber bands to keep the retractable blades from flopping around. These broad heads are sleek and perfectly weighted.

I picked up the SIK SK2 broadheads right before turkey season and had tremendous success. I was blessed to shoot a tom and the hole that the SK2 left was massive. What SIK advertises from a technology and offset wound channel perspective fits the experience that I had using the broadhead.

After I got the turkey dressed and meat taken care of, I cleaned up my arrow and the broadhead. The blades remained very sharp and the mechanical nature of the broadhead continues to function as it had out of the package.

I’ve literally never done this before, but the broadhead is back in my quiver on my #1 arrow and ready for another tom. I’ve never used a mechanical broadhead a second time (except to practice). I can’t wait to use these broadheads for deer season.

I’m confident that the SK2 will perform as well as advertised and will help me knock down an Iowa buck. I definitely recommend these heads and am going to have my Dad hunt with them too.

After doing some research on the top expandable broad-heads on the market, I found that the SK2 was consistently ranked at the top. While this broad-head boasts many features, the most impressive in my opinion was the field tip accuracy.

Compared to other broad heads in my bow case, this broad-head was scary consistent with my field tips. In terms of opening up and entry/exit wound – I have had the ability to harvest 4 animals with these broad-heads, each having blood trails you could follow at a jogging pace.

I have been overly pleased with these.

Their pointyness is only overshadowed by their shinyness. Put them on the forward end of your selected arrow and you can humanely kill a plethora of outdoorsy types of animals. Trust me, I’ve done it.

I know people who use broadheads that rhyme with “cage” that lose deer. I’ve never once had a deer go more than 20 yards with one of these here Muzzy shiny/pointy sharpies buried in their ribcage. ’nuff said.

I’ve found THE broadhead I’ll be shooting from now on, the Muzzy Trocar. It’s the best blend of durability, accuracy, and lethality. Just the other day I shot a big mature 9pt buck here in NJ and blew through one shoulder and through the opposite one as well.

The arrow (what was left of the Easton FMJ) was recovered along with the broadhead, and it was still 100% in tact and still sharp! Any broadhead that stays in one piece, doesn’t warp, and is still sharp after going through two shoulders is the one for me.

Buy and you will not be disappointed!.

The Muzzy Trocar is awesome! It is one of, if not the toughest broad heads out there. I saved one head that I use to practice shooting with and to make sure they are still tuned with my setup and let me tell you the toughness and sharpness of the blades are phenomenal.

I have shot the head I reserve for practice for 3 years now and if it wasn’t for blowing through my targets the blades would still be sharp, the trocar tip and the furule look like they just came out of the package.

If you have trouble getting these heads to hit with your field points, don’t get discouraged. I could guarantee you that your bow is out of tune,or your using improperly spined arrows for your set up, or that you are doing something to influence the poor results.

I have shot these heads with my setup at 70 yards and they hit exactly with my field points. I did have to do some tuning but very little. I have been blessed to take two awesome bucks with these heads and the results have been nothing short of spectacular.

The first was a 147inch 11 point that I hit in the shoulder, but the muzzy trocar blew through both shoulders and through the center of the heart and he piled up in 30 yards. The second was a nice 8 point taken november of 2016.

The shot was right behind the shoulder, double lung, and he made it about 65 yards, blood trail was awesome! Get you some muzzy trocars and quit worrying about if your broad head will perform! Accurate, tough, dependable, and Bad To The Bone!.

I have shot these broadheads on and off for years. I shoot a lot of hogs here in Texas, and penetration on the really big hogs are always a problem. With these broadheads, I always got maximum penetration and in most cases the arrow blew right through and landed somewhere on the other side.

On occasion, I would experiment with expandable broadheads to get a larger wound channel. In all but the smaller hogs, the arrow would make a large hole on entry but fail to go all the way through. This left the arrow inside the hog, which promptly snapped the arrow on the first bush that he came to.

After I had to transfer to a crossbow after several shoulder surgeries, these became my go-to broadheads for everything. They fly every bit as accurately as the expandables and remain intact after major contact with rib bones, etc.

Every expandable that I have shot, I threw away after one shot due to severe damage. I have found broadheads that were cheaper, but I have never found any that performed or held up better. You can’t go wrong with these.

I have been shooting Shuttle T broadheads for a good while. This year I lost one hog and javelina both arrows were complete pass throughs. I decided to try something new this year I am a big believer on fixed broadheads.

These broadheads were brutal, I shot two Javelinas and the first javelina went a few yards. The broad head was stuck on the side of the shoulder, I had to carve it out. The second shot the broadhead made a hellacious gash it walked a few yards, and just bled out.

I am very impressed with the cutting diameter I shoot the 1 inch broadhead. I even bought the sharpener cant wait to go back in the field and see what is does to hogs.

TOA 100 grain solids are straight flying to 50 yards and beyond. They retain a sharp edge after a couple hours of practicing. Thought the cutting diameter was a little small but the extra blade makes up the difference.

These broadheads are well made and well worth the money. The sharpening stone works fast. It”a the only way to sharpen them quickly. Only took a couple passes to get the edge back. Will be sending a picture of a hog kill soon.

I received the 125g 1” solid heads in good time considering I live in Canada. My initial impression is that the head flys true but requires a light touch up on the edges. The from the package edge was “toothy” and not quite as refined as I would have hoped.

But overall this is a quality product. I would like to see TOTA come out with a three piece design for those of us without the special sharpener.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have never wrote a review but this one needed it. I was a big fan of the original Rage 3 blade and has been my favorite broadhead for several yrs. Was disappointed that Rage discontinued them.

Once i learned they combined the original Rage 3 blade and the chisel tip in 2017 i wanted to give it a try. I am glad i did! The practice tip was hitting consistent, only about 2-3 inches low at 40, which i adjusted my rest a hair and hit right where it needed to be.

Took them out on the first hunt of the yr and shot a Ks bruiser that i had been after last day in Sept. I hit him a little high and forward, right on the edge of the scapula where there is a lot of muscle tissue and fat.

The arrow broke off after about 22 inches of penetration. He only ran 50 yds and piled up. Great blood trail and ive never seen so much blood next to a dead deer. The thing i was impressed is that i only had an entrance hole.

The buck was quartering to and i passed through his core vitals and the broadhead stuck in a back side rib. If i hit him where i was supposed to, a little farther back, and got a pass through i couldnt imagine what the blood trail would look.

After pulling the head out of the stuck rib there was very minimal damage to it. A few nicks on it, no blades were bent and the tip looked the same, cleaned it off and put it back in the quiver. The kicker to this is that the buck was a bruiser pushing 300 lbs and still did that much damage with a marginal shot.

To say im impressed is an under statement, cant wait to test it out some more.

Used this for spring black bear hunt with my crossbow. (rated 405 fps, 125 grain) Bear was at 12 yards, pass thru. bear didn’t know what hit him. Blood trail was good on impact and got less and less after that.

Shot was from a tree stand and had lots of angle to it (low exit wound) Thought it would have left a better blood trail. Camp rules were for fixed blades, will hunt the next bear with my Rage mechanicals.

Bear was recovered next morning.

I recently switched from mechanicals because I often get bored in the stand and shoot squirrels. Not a good habit for bagging bucks but really fun. Mechanical replacement blades were getting expensive.

The Montec CS hit dead on with my broadheads. I was amazed how well they flew. As for the edge, I bought 2 packs. First was dull. Second pack quite sharp. After considerable time with whet stone they were even less sharp.

I bought the G5 flat diamond and got busy with similar results. Finally I read the directions and realized I was using too much pressure after getting the edge set. Armed with that knowledge I got six heads shaving in short order.

My experience with these heads is not good. I find they are super accurate and fly very well. They penetrate better than average with their cut on contact design. However, they leave dismal blood trails even when the perfect shot is placed.

Its very disappointing to take the time to make a perfect shot and then not being able to locate any blood and losing deer.

Recently switched from a compound to a crossbow. Went with Deadmeat broadheads and have been pleased with them. They are simple to operate, easy to replace blades and they do their job well. I did take a doe with one, so far.

Definitely worked! One small thing worth mentioning is that my quiver grabs the arrow (bolt) shaft in 2 places, so I was able to remove the foam in the quiver head. I think the foam can be a little problematic for unseating the blades.

For that reason, and mostly the high price, I gave them 4 stars. Would have liked to go 4. 5 stars. They are good and I plan to continue to use them as long as I can buy them.

Classic, simple, tried and proven over the years. Strong point, won’t bend on bone. Needs some work to get blades really super sharp, but well worth the effort. Reasonable cost. Shoots right where my 125 gn field points do at 20 yards.

I’ve been using these heads for many years. You can also buy them as screw-on heads. They’re a bit heavier which is great for penetration. I’ve used them with traditional archery and they now tip my crossbow bolts.

They are easy to sharpen after taking an animal and the same head can be reused for many years. These are the only heads I shoot.

I have been bow hunting for 47 years and have used many different broad heads. I started using the 85 grain spitfire about 15 years ago and love them. I use them in both my compound and my cross bow.

Now the 85s are getting harder and harder to find. Like most things that work good after a short while they stop selling them. Excellent product!.

I went back to these broadheads after shooting another brand in my Barnett Crossbow. I had trouble with the brand X heads bending after they hit bone. I shot several hogs with them and it was costing me about $15.

00 a shot. I changed to the Spitfire 125s and have no more problem. I shoot the 100 grain Spitfires in my compound. Great results from both bows. Very tough product and easy to use. I will not go back to the other brand I was using.

Gained much confidence after using practice broadhead. Good product. Screw on a nap spitfire broadhead and go hunting knowing accuracy is achieved. Match point weights.

Ramcat makes some of the best broadheads on the market when they stay together. Love how straight these fly and pack a major punch which leads to a great blood trail. One of the issues I have found with these is where the blades connect into the broadhead is weak.

Keep a few spare blades on hand because they will break off pretty easy due to a weak point. Also, the blades don’t come as sharp as I would like out of the box. But the benefit is that changing the blades is very simple.
