20 Best Turkey Pot Call (2022 Updated)

My girlfriend bought me this call (crystal) for valentine’s day and well I owe her a lot now! This call sounds great, feels great in the hand, and looks perfect. As soon as I got it out of the package and was using it I sounded like a competitive caller.

Very realistic and versatile. Anything from keep kee’s and loud yelps for windy days to soft purrs, clucks, and yelps. This call may look expensive to you but I assure you that it is worth every cent and more.

I’ve used WoodHaven calls since they started making them. The Vision Crystal and aluminum are must haves. However, this new Mahogany crystal has one of the best sounds ever!! Has great brake, good high and low sound especially with the new Deluxe striker that comes with call.

I have used another brand of mouth call for over 30 years. It was the only call that had the sound I was looking for until I tried the Ninja Hammer. I knew this was the exact tone I wanted. Its my new go to call when I trying to bring in that nervous gobbler.

I would highly recommend this call.

Used this call 1st day of this season called in and killed a 20lb 10 1/2 beard 1. 25 spurs , went out again 5/5 called in another turkey and killed 18lber. This call in one word is awesome. It is high quality.

It has a very nice raspy sound to it. Been hunting turkeys for 43 years, this by far is the best sounding call I have used. If you want to kill turkeys this call for you. Highly recommend.

I just received this call. Ive always bought cheap calls and right away I could tell a huge different. The fabric on the outside is very comfortable and fits your mouth and forms to your mouth when you put it in so you do not have to fight the csll to stay in place when your calling.

Has great sound and its a great call. I highly recommend and thanks to THP or I would know nothing about these calls.

I tried this in the store with a cheap hardwood striker. It sounded great and was as easy as any of them to use. It was cheap at $12 so I bought it. Brought it home and tried it right out of the box.

No SOUND resulted from purrs, yelps or clucks at all. So I used the included scotch brite pad and sanded evenly in one direction. Tried again and no sound at all. So I roughed up the striker with 150 grit sand paper.

Still no sound. I saw another review that said they could get no sound. I think I was unlucky enough to get a bad one. Returning today and getting a different slate call. This time I am opening it in the store and trying it out.

I would expect any slate call to work with no conditioning like other materials typically require. This left a bad taste in my mouth for Primos brand. That is unacceptable quality. 0 out of 5 stars because I have to drive back to Bass Pro again and find a better call that actually works.

Ol’Betsy is my Go-To slate call. Very nice quality, and I’ve been using it for years. Primarily I use the striker that comes with it, but different sounds can be produced with different strikers as well.

Real nice call for distance, and great for close up calling, including a sweet purr. This is my favorite cutting call, and it’s gets the birds riled up!. Has a very realistic sound. This is a true keeper.

Purchased this for our 8 yr old neighbor to help him learn turkey calling skills. Good price on a starter kit. recommend this for ones just starting out

I got turkeys to respond to the slate and mouth calls this spring. I did not use the box call. I was out calling for 16 days and by the end of the season the mouth call was starting to become delaminated, but still functioned properly.

I’m sure there is higher quality equipment available, but for a beginner on a budget, this kit perfect.

I have never hunted turkeys before so wanted something inexpensive to sample the different calling methods. This little set does the trick. As an added bonus my kids love to practice on them and it annoys the heck out of my wife.

Worth every dime. I am pretty confident it will bring in a nice long beard this Spring!.

The cherry box is going to produce a higher pitched call than the walnut Real Hen. I really like that the Real Hen features a one piece cherry trough style box with a matched Brazilian cherry lid. This call sends out the most realistic two tone raspy yelps.

You will find that it is great for clucks, cutts, and cackles. Even my kids are able to pick this call up and produce remarkable sounds on their first attempt. This call will cost more but you are buying a truly custom call that is not like the other mass produced, foreign made, products on the market.

This call will last you for years to come.

Don’t purchase this call until you have compared it to other calls. This call does produce realistic sounds but so do lots of other calls that have been proven in the field. Each turkey sounds a little different from the next so just because this call is named the “real hen” doesn’t mean it’s any more ”real” sounding than some other calls.

I own two of these calls simply because I found them on sale. I would encourage you to look at some Primos and Lynch calls that Cabela’s carry’s and if the WoodHaven call is what you settle on then you will know for yourself that you have gone through an elimination process and should be completely satisfied with your purchase.

I picked up a demo and thought it was one of the most consistent and best sounding calls I had used. If that ever happens to you then buy THAT call. The one I ordered is a good call but the demo was an outstanding call.

Tipical throughout the industry. I am not rating the value or quality, just the consistency, or lack of. There are a lot of calls for half the price or less with the same consistency and a good one would sound as good or better than mine.

This ( Hooks line of calls ) are the best primos has put out in ages! Ive an avid turkey hunter. I have every call made , from Woodhavens, to David Hollarans. To sweet apple, to Houndstooth and All the southerns Best that all have won calling championships.

I have both of these box calls. Magnetic type is a awesome idea. You can lift lift higher than normal box call. Also i have some very expensive boxes too but guess what? This Lil Hook and the regulsr length hook box has the sweetest yelp and whines and kee kees out there.

I shot a bird opening day with the hook series mouth call blue ghost cut) and aso with the Hook box! Only complaint like all boxes. On still mornings if you dont already have it out of your vest or like me belt pouch , it will when you pull it out and scrape to make noise.

But get a rubber band or primos box call lid holder to keep it tight n quiet. To the 1 star reviewer up there. You do know that you have to put the chalk on it very good to get the call to work correctly? Mine out of the box had no chalk on it , i still made yelps with it.

But now its all ready to rock n roll. Its so small to fit anywhere for that quick harvest / kill. But please dont knock it till you try it. Also a turkey call dont sound the same when you run it ( use it) inside.

Works both ways. Most calls that sound perfect inside, usually sound horrible outside and vise versa! Good luck in the spring woods. I highly recommend this call. It sounds great and the magnetic aspect of it is spectacular as well. My uncle, which has been after turkey for many years, was hunting probably 500 yards away and he texted me that morning and said “Is that you yelping over there and if so what are you using!?!? It sounds GREAT!!” I pointed him in the right direction.

I have the mini hook up box call. I have not used the full size version.

This box call broke before its first venture into the Turkey woods. It has quite a nice Yelp, but that all changed when the magnet fell out after a short practicing session. I glued it back in, but the sound is not the same, as the paddle doesn’t line up precisely as it should.

Save your money and buy a traditional box call.

Wasn’t like the old Lynch calls! I was very disappointed in the sound the workmanship and awkwardness of the square striker. Wasted money in my opinion.

Best little slate pocket call to keep in your Arsenal. Along with the Lynch Fool Proof & the Lynch World Champion! They make them OL Toms talk to you and come a lookin for you! Been using Lynch for over 30 years.

Purchase the 3-pack diaphragm mouth calls for upcoming turkey season. I have used the red wasp and the copperhead in the past. First time I’ve used the copperhead to absolutely pleased with it could not have been a better purchase should make for an excellent turkey season.

Purchase the Woodhaven triple pack for upcoming turkey season. Have used the red wasp and Copperhead in the past. This pack included the copperhead to excellent diaphragm call good raspy sound very pleased with my purchase.

I got the 3 pc set about a month ago. The Red Wasp is the best of the 3 in the set. Very raspy and true to life sound. Like a mature hen. The Copperhead II is my 2nd favorite. It has a higher pitch. And the orange Copperhead comes in 3rd with a even higher pitch.

The yelps and clucks are not that hard to achieve with practice. I’ve been doing some preseason practice on live birds in my area with great results. I called in 2 toms and a jake within 40 yards standing in the open in about 15 minutes time from my back yard.

I live in a heavily wooded area of the Pine Barrens.

This is suppose to be a high quality call that will last and have a consistent and unique tone, or be a show piece, it fails at both these. The surface is not glass but plastic. The cut out in the wood for the plastic surface is chipped, the edge of the plastic is chipped, you can see the glue holding the plastic piece in, the center piece with the words “line 1” is not in the center, it is tight to one side and has a bad revel.

Super disappointed, I feel like I got ripped off, hustled, and bought a good story but a cheap call.

I’ve used the slate call several times in dense forest cover. It attracted birds EVERY time. mostly just curious hens, but also landed a 24lb gobbler last spring. The diaphragm call isn’t great- at least for me.

The slate call works perfectly, even in the rain. Using the slate I was able to kill my first two turkeys here in vermont. First year seriously turkey hunting. The mouth call I need to practice more, but it works.

These were my first calls. I was able to call in my first Tom with these. It’s my go to set each year. My wife isn’t a fan of how much I use it in March but that’s beside the point

I cant belive this call was less than $30 and it belts out dozens of realistic wildlife sounds. Loudly. Must be amazing with a small set of speakers attached. Really cool device with excellent LED display of the sound.

Hand held size and runs on a couple AAA batteries. Very realistic tones of toms and hens. Also locator calls of yotes and hawks and crows. Scares the heck out of my housecats. Worth it just for that.

Check local state regs if this is approved for hunting purposes FYI.

Gobblers responded great to this call in the tree and on ground. I hunt in Florida panhandle, eastern strain of turkey. Gobble sounds great too. Called up two gobblers my third time out hunting with this call.

This call is great, plenty loud with an adjustable volume, and very easy to use. Only critique is that the buttons are small so it could be an issue using with gloves. I was driving the neighbors turkeys crazy with it so come hunting season I know itll work.
