Samsung is getting a complex over pricing – trying to compete or beat Sony on their high prices. and not usually justified. Seeing as how this is on a big sale for Black Friday, it became an option for me.

I’m using the 43″ as a computer monitor, just using the TV options occasionally. From that perspective, it makes a good monitor and does run 4K @ 60 Hz and supports proper 4:4:4 chroma (so text is clear).

The smart features seem good and it has bluetooth built-in. I like the VA panel as it really shows black the way it should be done – I don’t miss having local dimming on this (my other TV is a Sony X900e with local dimming).

The VA panel makes a big difference in contrast and I won’t go back to IPS now. On the negative side, I don’t like the Tizen OS – every time you want to change picture settings, you have to go to the home menu, hit “left” 5 times just to get to the settings – and then go through all the options from there.

And there are plenty that aren’t explained very well – the manual just tells you where they are, not what they do. Luckily, I research this stuff and figured it out but it’s way over-complicated where it really doesn’t need to be.

I think I preferred the Roku TVs – and I did try a much cheaper Hisense VA panel Roku TV – and it was 98% as good as this one – many things were better in my opinion. The only issue was I couldn’t get it to run at 60 Hz as a computer monitor (only ran at 30 Hz) so I returned it.

If you don’t need that option, I think the Hisense Roku TVs are just as good – and I’m really picky! Hisense seems to be brighter than TCL generally. I really, really don’t like that you cannot change any of the video settings when using a computer input or some game consoles, etc.

You are limited to “normal” and “dynamic” modes where you can set brightness, contrast and sharpness. But nothing else. no color settings whatsoever. The default modes for a computer screen are very cold (probably around 9000K) and you can’t change it to a warm setting.

that makes no sense at all! I agree with the other review – there should be an analog output jack. I need to get an adapter now before I can plug it into my computer speakers. Overall, the blacks are good.

the greys are not so good – not very uniform. There is a big of a screen door effect when you are up close. The HDR doesn’t really exist on any of these mid-range TVs. The brightness levels do not change AT ALL going into HDR mode.

some of them are even darker and worse so don’t buy it for HDR – you won’t be satisfied. The Sony X800 and Q60T might be very slightly noticeably better in HDR but you need to double your spend to get anything with reasonable HDR.

If you’re looking for an okay 4K TV with lots of smart features, then this one is okay – if you get it on sale.

I’ve had the Samsung TU8000 (43″) for almost two months now and the initial signs are positive. The delivery was on time & the couriers handled the television with care. The packaging was undamaged and everything in the box was in good condition.

Setting up the TU8000 was fairly straightforward & although it took me a little while to get used to the gulf in size from my last TV to this one (I previously had a 22″), I noticed a huge difference in quality.

If the source is 4K, the TV will showcase the crisp & rich details of the video. Even material which is 1080p is upscaled very well for a TV around this price point. There are so many applications which you can download and that’s one of many factors which were appealing to me.

This is a good television for gaming despite the fact that it doesn’t support HDMI 2. 1 but games run smoothly at 60fps nonetheless. I’d recommend using gaming mode (but not gaming mode plus) otherwise the response time is lackluster.

I was rather surprised at the sound quality which was much better than I expected. Although it’s not perfect, the quality is very good considering the price of the set. It comes with two remotes and although it can be quite clunky at times to navigate through the menus, they are responsive and easy to use.

Connecting the TV to an aerial is simple and I like the gallery function which tends to be reserved for the more expensive Samsung TVs. A few problems I have with this model is the excessive backlight on the top right hand corner of the screen.

I noticed it for the first time when watching Disney+ and Netflix content in a dark room and I haven’t been able to solve this problem yet. Another issue I had was a chiming sound from the television which is apparent when you’re close to the screen.

I solved this by disconnecting the PS4 cable when the console is not in use. I searched for months before buying a new television and I’m happy with the decision I made. Despite a few flaws, the exceptional image quality, good sound, responsive controls and the versatility of this model make the Samsung TU8000 a great purchase.

First 4k (after trying series 7 but I wanted 3 HDMI inputs). Not much in 4k to play but many blu-rays, DVD’s, over-the-air 1080i or 720 broadcasts to watch. When using TV audio, it can pop real loud as I adjust level (like an electric shock sound).

When viewing many (Sony S3700 player) blu-ray programs and DVD’s, video can jitter (like drop framing appears during some syndicated programs on MeTV or TV Land) – not smooth motion / regular drop frame like action about every 10 seconds or so (from the video processing of this unit?).

Push a menu on exterior box (cable or Tivo box) and the menu is distorted across the screen a few seconds (like I startled it and made it jump on the screen). Also, audio disappears when scenes change (or black between programs and commercials).

I decided to hook up a (HDMI Switch 4K HDMI Splitter-Techole Aluminum Bi-Directional HDMI Switcher 2 Input 1 Output) splitter with high end HDMI cords as I wanted another HDMI connection with a Roku, and it doesn’t seem to change the behavior of the unit.

And now I have a 4k player (Sony X700) hooked up to this TV and notice especially 7. 1 audio playback can cause total silence for a second at times during playback, but when I rewind the disc to replay the scene, the audio is fine.

To me, either this is one screwed up TV or mine has some serious issues and needs replacement (purchased in Nov 2020 and all the problems were noticed one after another in the 6 months I’ve had it). We purchased a 40 inch Samsung Series 5 N5200 1080 HD TV a few months ago and don’t have any of these issues, and really hate this 50 inch 4k Samsung Series 8 TV.

I really wish I could get a standard 50 inch Samsung HD TV like we had before and I fear I’m stuck with this problem child. Samsung needs to clean up its act.

The optimism might be blown out of proportion because Im coming from a 15 year old plasma. The picture quality is great from its native apps (it included AppleTV, Netflix, etc) in which could be downloaded from google play.

As always, picture quality always depends from the source. Since my source is from within the hardware, it produced quality picture. Set up is easy. If youre already used to google/android configuration, this will be cake.

Sound is ok, but most buyers nowadays always opt for a sound system. I havent tried eARC yet since I dont have one. Do a search on that topic since a lot of people have issues with it. Outside of that, no complaints from me.

We were looking for a larger screen TV for our Media room (we were replacing a 10-year-old 45″ Sony Bravia which continues to work beautifully). The salesperson did a great job explaining the advantages of Sony’s 4K OLED screen and the Android OS.

WE have this tv paired up with a Denon 7. 1 channel sound system, so really not taking advantage of the TV speakers. The 77-inch screen is large but is a great fit for our room and creates a movie theatre experience.

We really appreciate the vibrant colour on this TV and specifically how well it handles the black portions of images, creating crisp black space when needed. The Android OS is remarkably user friendly to navigate, and the TV remote well thought out, making it easy to get to the most frequently used apps, such as NetFlix, Youtube and Disney+.

The number of apps available for this TV has surpassed our expectations. We have Rogers ignite services but prefer to watch these apps directly from the TV to take full advantage of the 4K resolution.

Making us reconsider if we really need the Rogers services for this room. 🙂 The only thing we did not consider when I purchased this TV was that with the latest HDCP standards the Denon receiver cannot feed the TV HDMI directly, since the older spec is is not compatible with the TV.

As a result, we are using the digital optical link from the TV to the receiver for sound. We will likely need to upgrade the receiver at some point if we want it to have multiple HDMI sources switched through the receiver.

Not a problem for now. All in all, we love this TV. Would have no problem recommending this to others.

Let me start by saying that I’m an OLED guy. I bought my first OLED 3 years back after my then 4 year old Samsung plasma TV had screen issues. After doing lot of online research and in-store comparisons, I just couldn’t go with the LED/QLED TVs.

So I went ahead and bought a 65″ LG C7 and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. After that we bought a house and I started to feel the need to have a TV in the bedroom. Also the living room was demanding a size increase.

I finally went ahead with this gorgeous Sony 77″ set after debating over the choice with LG CX. Couple of reasons I went ahead with Sony: 1. Image processing: seeing them in-store, I felt the Sony picture somewhat looked better than the LG given it’s better image processing.

2. Android TV: I loved the LG’s webOS and magic mouse initially but have grown out of it now. I almost don’t like to use that bulky remote anymore. The apps video quality is also not the same as I see from the Apple TV.

While all this would be irrelevant if I got another Apple TV but regardless I wanted to see what Sony had to offer. I’m pleased the experience has been really good so far. 3. Just wanted to try a new OLED brand.

Not to mention, I never owned a Sony TV that I have so admired as a TV brand since childhood. 4. I don’t game, like at all. So the lack of VRR and lag factor didn’t bother me. I wanted a TV that’s amazing for Movies.

5. The ability to use the TV speakers as center speakers is novel. I have a MartinLogan 4. 1 setup and I wanted to add the center but it’s a little tricky to find right placement with my stone wall above fireplace.

So even though this is last year’s model compared to LG’s, I pulled the trigger on this one and I couldn’t be happier. #sweepstake.

Knowing what I do now, I would not purchase this product at the full RRP. The positives include some nice AI features that clearly sharpen up both the graphics and sound quality, although i would argue the built in sound is still not as clear as other products available on the market.

The AI sound does a good job to adapt output based on content, but I would still recommend a good sound system. The gaming optimization also boasted some great features, to adjust TV output for FPS and VRR to maximise gameplay.

The WebOS system is intuitive and easy to navigate, which is something i have come to expect from LG. I went for the 4k option because the cost of technologies to support 8k content across most streaming platforms is still too expensive and consumer demand hasn’t quite caught onto the 8k market.

The same is true with next generation consoles that are enabled for 8k delivery but due to cost, 8k content is still not available. As such, it felt a bit superfluous to product test an 8k TV for The Insiders campaign, when you cannot do represenative testing of the product with the lack of content that is available.

The negatives really ‘darkened’ the moment, in the literal sense. With all this next generation technology around true black colours, it felt like LGs nano dot technology tried too hard to over compensate for the darker scenes leading to blurred images, which occasionally felt like I had tunnel vision when watching sci-fi movies with a naturally dark backgrounds.

The dimming function at the ‘off’ position, allowed for three distinct back lights to show at the bottom of the TV screen. Although you can change the dimming setting to medium or high, which corrects the issue, you’re then compounded with the cloudy black colours as mentioned by a few product testers here.

I genuinely feel that LG have let themselves down from their usual reputation and I feel they should be looking to fix these fundermental issues in Beta testing before they ever hit the market. At the very least be transparent with consumers by outlining the potential issues and provide advise on how correct them.

In summary, this product has some really innovative tech features that takes some positive steps in the right direction of next generation LCD TVs, but is let down by attention to detail in how their own technology works.

We’ve been testing out the 75″ LG QNED91 for two weeks now and can only say we’ve had a great experience! TV comes with a stand, remote, safety cables and booklet. It does look a bit overwhelming to set it up at first but the instructions give you a guide as to how to unpack things (even using parts of the box/packaging) which makes this an easier job.

It would be helpful to have an extra person to give you a hand with the setup as it’s a hefty unit to pick up and shift around. The TV once put on the stand feels safe and sturdy. Setup is simple and steps easy to follow, like to decide whether you’ll want to scan for channels, connect to WiFi and so on.

One thing we noticed during the setup was how quick the operating system felt compared to our older now 3 year old LG TV. Everything was responsive, like the typing function, pointing and clicking using the cursor and magic remote.

During the setup you are given the option to turn on some AI enhancing functionality which detects faces/objects to bring out a clearer image and/or some similar functionality to improve the sound quality, we turned both of these on as there was a clear improvement! The remote has shortcut buttons for streaming services, including a new Disney+ button which our little ones quickly recognised.

The redesigned home screen is easy to use and navigate and installing apps was a breeze. I will say though that it did seem a little ad-heavy – it would be great to have the option to turn off content appearing on this screen for services we don’t use like Binge or Stan.

Picture quality definitely benefits from Dolby Vision as well as Dolby Atmos, both really help to enhance what you’re seeing and hearing to a degree where we are second guessing whether we actually need to get a dedicated sound system.

One thing worth a mention is LG’s partnership with Xbox to deliver enhancements for gaming through the Game Optimiser functionality. This can automatically adjust your settings when it detects you’re playing a game with a next-gen Xbox console.

We tried this out with an Xbox Series X and found gameplay was responsive and we didn’t need to fiddle with our picture modes like we used to with our older TV – amazing! Further to this we found we could also take advantage of the 120fps frame rate for a really fluid picture.

Overall we have had a really positive experience with this TV and are yet to find any faults! A definite must-buy.

Yeah this is nothing short of an amazing tv! I’ve been an LG fan for a good period of time now and still they are yet to let me down. I’ve upgraded now from a 49″ to this 75″ and the change is pretty big! Though amazingly this tv doesn’t weigh that much more than the old one which was quite a surprise.

I’ve got mine wall mounted in the living room and it simply looks fabulous. The viewing angles are superb and there are very little reflections on the screen as well which is a massive bonus for me considering we have windows at both ends of the living space that we have this installed.

Wall mounting was easy enough, the fittings on the rear of the tv are a standard VESA sizing (400×400) and getting a bracket for this size is really quite easy. The only real issue was lifting it up to the wall mount since I’m not the tallest or the strongest, but we managed 🙂 Screen quality here is nothing but amazing.

I really like the different picture modes and have found them really quite well set, I have made a few adjustments to the brightness to really get the benefit of the minLED’s but that’s more of a personal thing really I think.

Especially pleased with the FILMMAKER mode, the tv detects when I’m watching a film and automatically offers to switch into this mode, allowing us to enjoy our movies the way they were intended to be seen by the director.

I didn’t think it would make much difference but it really shows up, especially in big action scenes, the motions and movements and colours, it all looks so good! Not forgetting the Dolby Vision here, this is a definitive bonus and seems to really enhance the experience.

I’m seeing this come up on all kinds especially the native apps on the webOS homescreen. Different streaming apps allow for the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and they’re a wonderful part of this tv. That nicely brings me onto the sound! I’ve always been a bit sceptic of this AI Sound thing and always thought it was a bit of selling jargon.

its not, its very apparent that this function works and is quite possibly at the best standard it has been to date! I ran the AI Sound setup, took a few seconds whilst it made a few odd noises, and that was it, DONE! The sounds from every source now fill the room really well and really bring out the depth of sound rather then just basic direct speakers.

I’m really interested now in the LG Sounbar systems and think having one of those combined with this new tv tech could be a real game changer!.

I’ve had this TV less than a week, but I am confident enough to say it is utterly fantastic. The OLED screen is so crisp and sharp. I had a Samsung 4K LED TV prior to this, but the Philips is in a different league altogether.

You read reviews with phrases like ‘deep blacks’, but it’s not until you see it for yourself do you realise the difference between a backlit TV and this. There is no colour leakage, no white patches round the edges of the screen.

The processor is quick and menus, etc. can be navigated quickly and efficiently. I can’t comment on sound or gaming, as I use a separate AV Amp and don’t game. That said, the sound through the amp from the ARC/TV Out is a ten-fold improvement on the Samsung, with the surround sound speakers working to their full effect.

To summarise, it is an expensive set, yes, but with most things, you get what you pay for. I’d definitely recommend it.

I have had the 55OLED706 for several months and still marvel at the picture quality. The sound is also excellent plus I have an optical connection from the TV to a PM7000N amp but only occasionally use this for films such as Blade Runner for a more immersive viewing experience.

This is my first experience of ambilight and I am now a big fan. I can’t comment on the WiFi as have a direct Ethernet connection to my router and tend to use apps on the connected Sky Q box. The TV represents great value and I particularly like the design with minimal bezel and low profile stand.

I bought this TV to replace an existing 60” LED screen that had started to show its age and dark spots on the screen. The moment this was mounted and powered up we could see a clear difference between what was thought to be a good picture and this OLED output which is amazing.

Clarity is awesome, Ambilight is absolutely brilliant, especially when paired to other Hue products in the viewing area. It was simple to set up, looks great and the performance is such a huge improvement.

I purchased the 65OLED706 as my budget would not extend the the later 806 or above model but I am not disappointed in anyway. In fact I am very pleased with what I decided on.

This is the TV I have been dreaming of! After moving into a much larger space, I wanted to upgrade to something that would fill the room appropriately. This TV is the perfect size for the room, and it gives you that sense of a true home theater.

The picture is crisp, clean, and bright (after adjusting some of the default settings). It was a breeze to set up, although it did request that you download an app to assist in the process (but was not required).

The native sound was pretty decent at filling the space, but we did opt to attach a Samsung soundbar with Bluetooth, which was also quite easy. The UI is quick and responsive, and the remote is a very familiar format to previous Samsung TV owners.

The addition of ambient mode is a novel feature, but works quite well and has been used half a dozen times since owning the TV, just for something different and eye catching. It matched the color of the paint on our walls almost exactly.

Not sure if this was coincidence or the TV was actually able to discern this somehow? We don’t use any of the native smart apps, as we transferred an existing Firestick 4k over to this TV. Everything still functions just as well, and the picture has been solid in all of the various apps that we stream from.

It connected easily to wifi, although I don’t really need it to be connected unless I opt to use the smart remote to query Alexa (or Google Assistant if that’s your choice at setup). The only downside that we had with this TV is the sheer magnitude made it incredibly challenging to mount with just two adults.

The size makes it awkward to lift, and it weighs 109 lbs without the stand. Adding in the fragility that comes with flat screen TVs and it made for a very high stress situation. I would highly recommend paying for someone to install the mount and TV for you.

The peace of mind alone would be worth it. Note: I added LED backlighting to the TV to reduce eye strain during nighttime viewing. The TV is not backlit out of the box.

Tons of apps to download in order to personalize your viewing and even the ability to transform your TV into a piece of artwork, while not being actively watched, is ingenious.

The wide array of helpful tips and user guides that are built in help you truly get to know your device and how to maximize its potential. Features like wifi and Bluetooth seem so common-place these days, but to have a device that seamlessly integrates everything and is ever-interconnected to what you are attempting to utilize without add-ons and added cost is revolutionary! A must have!.

so disappointed with this tv. i was actually happy with it until suddenly a power cycling issue began. it now continuously turns itself on and off every 3 seconds. i have only had the product for 17 months.

after reading the community threads, it seems that this is a known issue with samsung tv’s which they refuse to correct. and because i didn’t buy an extended warranty, i now have a useless electronic brick hanging on the wall that will cost a few hundred dollars to fix.

almost every electronic device i own is from samsung including several phones, tablets, tv’s, buds, and watches. sadly, after this experience, i will probably never buy another samsung product. i thought i was buying quality but i was seriously mistaken.
