20 Best Tvs For Elderly (2022 Updated)

I purchased this TV with the intent to play Nintendo Switch games and stream shows and movies using the built in apps. So far it works well, and I haven’t had any issues with the image quality, aside from “HDR 10+” sometimes causing peoples’ skin to turn bright red or orange in certain spots, which I noticed while watching 4K HDR content through Prime Video.

This is not my main media machine, so it functions well when I just want to play games or watch media on a big screen. DISPLAY: I’m guessing the TV is true 4K, as all the streaming apps that have 4k available automatically stream at that resolution.

It’s pretty good for when I want to see Richard Hammond crash again and again in 4k on a big screen. Like I previously mentioned, the HDR is somewhat “meh”, causing some minor coloring issues, and there is no option to disable it.

If great HDR is what you’re looking for in a TV, this isn’t it. If you don’t care for HDR content, this TV is good enough. The default color accuracy isn’t that great, and you will need to adjust the colors yourself.

The TV comes with an expert color tuning mode that I didn’t use, since the basic settings were enough to get the colors I wanted. GAMING: I’ve only used my Nintendo Switch with this TV, but I’ve had no issues using it.

Just note that the TV uses some kind of upscaling to match the Switch’s 1080p output to the 4k display. Interestingly, I think switch games look better on this 55″ 4k-upscaled output compared to my 24″ 1080p gaming monitor.

INPUT LAG: If you plan on playing any fast-paced or fighting games, like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, MAKE SURE THE PICTURE IS SET TO GAME MODE. The input lag is unbearable on anything other than game mode, but once game mode was active, the input lag was almost identical to my gaming monitors.

STREAMING: The OS is fairly decent, with the downside of lagging with certain apps I’ve tried, such as Crunchyroll and Prime Video. There’s a second or two delay when navigating the menu in Prime Video, and in Crunchyroll, the app is just short of freezing when you try to exit out of playback.

Other apps, such as Apple TV and YouTube work very smoothly. I have not tried other streaming apps, but I can attest to the performance or lack thereof of these four apps. I would recommend using a game console or a dedicated streaming stick over using the built in Google TV OS.

One negative side to using Google TV on this TCL is that TCL forces you to sign in or create a TCL account in order to access Google TV. That’s another account you have to create and another company you have to entrust information to.

That’s about the only big gripe I have with this TV. OVERALL: Pretty decent TV for when I want to watch stuff or play games on a big 4k screen. Google TV can be a little sluggish, but you can always get a dedicated streaming device and plug it into the TV.

The HDR isn’t that great.

So far so good. There are so many choices out there at so many price points and so many options that I circled for quite a while. I finally decided to purchase this TV and I’m very happy with it. It’s got a beautiful picture, it set up nice and easy, The remote is not too big for my hand which may sound funny but for some of us it’s a consideration lol.

I like the versatility of what’s available on it and what you can do with it I haven’t had much opportunity to explore a lot of it but if I’m not complaining up front it can’t be that bad. The only negative so far that I may have come across which is only negative based upon the mount that I already have from my previous TV.

The mounting holes on the back of the TV are very low to the bottom. A wall mount I have uses two separate rails attached one on each side of the mounting holes. I mounted it as far down the bottom of the rail as I could but the TV still ended up 6 in higher on the wall and the previous TV of the same size because it’s mounting holes or towards the top.

And the scheme of things it’s not terrible except I don’t have much wall left to raise the picture that its now blocking. So just be aware of how you want to mount and hang your TV even if you don’t get this one We look to see if the holes are spaced appropriately for what we want to do but I didn’t really pay much attention to where they were located on the TV set.

As for the size as a man I wanted the 75 inch TV It said my blood but it was obscene It was so big for the wall as with the 65-in have been. The 55 was really the best for the room size even given the upgrades from the 4k And that combined with the lower price made this an even more appealing choice.

finally, as the cherry on top it was delivered right into my office where it hangs now within 2 days and for free. Can’t beat that!.

Bought this but I’m debating what actually it does better over the $125 cheaper recent Android TV model I was planning on returning (or a similarly priced TCL Roku TV). My major motivation was integration with Google Home but also upgrading from 1080p.

(1) Fast on functionality doesn’t appear to include wifi and ethernet connection so nothing but a fast on attached roku or other dongle can turn it on by voice. Wasn’t fixed over Android TV. (2) Google Home streams Apple Music with subscription but sending it to this TV and my non-Atmos/DTS+ sound bar is horribly choppy.

(3) Google Assistant on the TV and it’s integration with Google Home system has been working poorly, has been unresponsive and I can’t figure out why. It’s worse than previous generation Chromecast with showing connected services like camera footage.

Nice that it adds Dolby Digital Plus and eArc should those be of value (not with my soundbar!), certainly an upgrade over 1080p in terms of video quality. Appreciate that it does do digital audio pass through.

If it doesn’t work better with Google Home, really seems that overall package is less than a TCL Roku TV plus an Chromecast or the older Android TV (or maybe even smart 4K TV) with a 4K Roku box. Definitely consider if relevant, some of these things may get worked out but clock is ticking.

What an upgrade from my Samsung UN55J6300 55” 1080p TV from about 7 years ago to this 75” 4K top tier beast. By far one of the best non-OLED 4k premium TVs on the market in 2022. The initial set-up was quick and easy for a large TV with pop-out foam cushions to install the stand while the TV is standing.

Once the TV was situated in place the Slim One Connect box sits behind hidden on the back of the stand which made it a breeze to connect my devices and keep the cables hidden. Once powered on the setup was very quick and easy with no technical experience required even my 11-year-old understood the steps.

The remote is super slim, rechargeable via a solar panel on the back or type C charger. Probably one of the brightest out of the box TVs I have known to date compared with my others 2 TV’s. This is largely due to Samsung’s Quantum HDR 32x technology and Certified HDR10+ included in this panel giving the TV an ultra-bright display.

The picture clarity was perfect with some slight glow/halo but expected being a non-individually lit pixel OLED panel, but the Quantum Matrix with Mini LED technology sets apart far beyond a regular LED TV.

The color and contrast are exceptional and at the right viewing distance you almost feel you in the picture – my wife’s words! The overall look at feel of the TV is premium, ultra slim due to the one-connect box and what Samsung calls the Infinity One Design.

It really stands out as sleek compared to other comparable size displays. Navigating through Samsung’s new updated UI was smooth and snappy due to the premium hardware such as the Neural Quantum Processor and fast 120Hz/144Hz display which is available on all 4 HDMI ports too.

I am yet to test the 144Hz in gaming mode, but I have experienced this on my sons 55” 4k/120Hz Bedroom TV and so I know this will only up the experience further on a larger much faster display. The sound quality is crisp and something new to me is the TV comes with built in woofers giving those subtle mids and lows typically not heard from a TV combined with the TVs built in Dolby Atmos and 3D sound, it is like having a built-in sound bar, making the movie experience phenomenal.

I later setup my existing Dolby Atmos sound bar which the TV detected by brand effortlessly via eARC and it just blew me away. Overall, seeing this TV in action you will appreciate why its far more premium then a 75” TV at half its price, you will not look back and its worth every penny.

This 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV is PERFECT ! Out of the box it is super easy to assemble and setup. It took us only 5 minutes to get everything done and the TV quickly recognizes all connected devices and does the rest.

There are soo many options to enhance and improve an already AWESOME TV. The TV is soo thin and looks very good, the picture is actually Theatre quality all in this Samsung TV. I can easily navigate thru the channels and the TV options (Sound/Picture/Smart Options/Contrast/App Casting/Multi view) just to name a few.

The multi-view option is by far my favorite out of all the extras, I can watch multiple content on the TV and easily switch between the 2 and this is definitely a game changer. The design of this TV is superb, super thin, black glossy frame and very sturdy pedestal to hold the TV.

The Clarity is so crystal clear, I can actually see every aspect of what’s being played on the TV and there is NO blurring or un-matched coloring. I like having all the streaming content readily available on the home screen, which is laid out and designed perfectly.

The suggestions of content to watch and all the different content will keep me occupied and thoroughly entertained. As far as the color content of the TV, words can’t express how crystal clear, vibrant and clean it is when watching the content.

I am very surprised at how massive the TV is, yet it enhances my viewing greatly and compliments my living room décor, viewing the TV at any angle or place in my living room is no problem at all. I really like the enhanced Solar Powered remote which has replaced all the remotes I needed previously to control all my connected devices to my old TV.

Not only is the TV Smart, so is the remote, it is sleek, not cluttered with buttons and I like that it can be charged either just by the plug in cord or own it’s own by sunlight. My excitement about this TV can’t be contained, I’ve never had a Smart TV and owning this Samsung has reminded me how great the brand is and what I have been missing in a Samsung Smart TV.

I will definitely remain a Samsung customer and can’t wait to show it off to family/friends and tell co-workers. Overall, the 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV gets a 10 OUT OF 10 from me and again my excitement is extreme and I will definitely enjoy this TV for many years.

I’ve been using my new Samsung 75” QLED 4K TV for about a month now and it just absolutely blows my previous 4K TV out of the water in every way possible. I’ve been using it with a variety of content from movies and TV shows to gaming and have been very impressed.

The 4K is extremely crisp and clear even in very high motion scenes. The Smart Calibration seems to do a very good job deciding what I am watching and adjusting accordingly, I haven’t felt the need to go into the settings and adjust anything like I had with my previous TVs.

The black levels and color contrast of this TV are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The black parts of the scene look like that part of the TV is completely turned off while the colors are still extremely vibrant and clear even during high motion scenes.

The auto volume is also a very handy feature, whenever my wife is vacuuming it raises the volume so I can still hear it and lowers it back down when she is done without me ever touching the remote. While the built in speakers are very impressive for small TV speakers, I do still prefer a nice surround sound soundbar to go with it.

One major improvement in regards to that from my previous TV is that the eARC is instantaneous and doesn’t lag when changing volume or audio sources like my old. I do wish I had some more fine tuning of the audio options when I am using eARC but my sound bar has then built in so it’s not the end of the world.

One thing I would like to see improved is the home menu. It starts autoplay with audio from Samsung’s Free TV option, which might I add is actually a very neat feature and I have used it a lot, but I don’t want it to autoplay on my home screen! I’m sure that’s something they can fix in a future software update, I just really hope they do.

On that note of the home screen, I am very impressed with the responsiveness of the built-in smart TV and included apps. Virtually no lag and apps just work as expected, with no issues at all. The initial setup was very painless and I was able to do it all right on my phone using the SmartThings apps.

I also have a Samsung fridge linked to the SmartThings app and now that I added the TV I get notifications right on my TV if I forgot to close the fridge door, a super handy feature! Overall, I am extremely impressed with this Samsung TV and happy with my purchase.

I will absolutely be buying another in the future for my bedroom. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

Meh, everytime I turn the tv on it takes a couple minutes to load the home screen. I watch streaming channels more than cable and this TV doesn’t have some of the streaming channels my old roku tv had.

I guess it’s because LG’s WebOS isn’t licensed to run some streaming channels. Which I wish I knew beforehand but live and learn. The remote is way too small for the number of buttons they have on it so if you have fingers bigger than a stylus tip it can get really frustrating for example when you accidentally hit “home” over and over while trying to hit the up arrow button.

I’m going to buy another roku tv I think. I will keep this and put it in a guest room but I really do not like this tv at all. But for less than $300 it is what it is.

I’ll stick with Sony or Visio from now on. The on screen set-up is confusing at best. I figured that it would detect my cable box (xfinity) and scan the stations just like my Sony Bravia did. Nope, scanned and said no channels detected even though the HDMI cable was hooked up.

After about a day and half I found the setting to connect the cable box and the xfinity guide came up. The set-up keeps giving me directions for the “magic” remote even though I only received a standard remote.

Don’t get me wrong, the picture and sound are great but the user interface leaves much to be desired. I’ve owned several smart tv’s and this is the first one that I haven’t found the set-up to be intuitive.

Crisp 4K resolution and nice sound quality. Samsung also boasts one of the most user-friendly interfaces and the apps have nearly every streaming service available. I’ve owned nearly every brand of 4K Tv’s and Samsung and LG are the best.

Their quality is superior to other brands and their models and features cannot be beaten. I recommend Samsung they have models for every need without sacrificing features and quality. Their line also includes affordable models and high-end depending on your budget.

The picture on this is very clear and there is great color depth. I like the compatibility with Bluetooth and air play. I use this primarily for gaming and have had no issues. One thing I noticed, though, is that there is a lag with using the tv remote.

However, I would still highly recommend this as an affordable 4K tv. Definitely worth spending the extra guap and avoiding the super cheap 4Ks like Hisense and TCL. The difference is substantial.

Image on this television is very clear and crisp. The settings has multiple options to customize, few are locked, still have not figured out how to unlock. The streaming options have increased easy to navigate and switch from one to the other.

Cons: the remote is so small and buttons for volume, sliding up and down are tricky, they mute sometimes and is annoying. Pros on remote: Netflix, prime video and Samsung TV buttons on it. Another issue that I have encountered is that the cable box , yes I have one of those, keeps disappearing from menu.

This is my honest review. First, i have owned samsung tvs for decades. Ive tried lg, sony, philps, etc, none of them compare. Hell i have a samsung 65″ 4k in my bedroom that ive had almost 6 years, not a single issue.

These things built to last. Pretty much all my electronics are samsungs, my cellphone, my tablet, my watch etc. I am and have been a life long samsung user. (personally i cant wait till the flex g comes out, serously, check it out!) I got my qn800a yesterday.

Unpacking from the box is a bit of a hassel, but considering u want to make sure tv is ok, i get it. The box itself is very heavy, u will need minimum 3 people to move this thing, i got the 75″ btw. The thing i loved the most unpacking is that its set up on stryopome so u can easily attach the stand to it without laying it down and risking damage.

this to me was a brilliant idea. Setup for the tv was the usual straight forward, step by step instructions, it needed an update right out of the box which was fine with me. Now i dont use the speakers on the tv, so i cant attest to how they are, tho during the setup they were fine.

I have it connected to a 8k receiver which i use for sound. obv Video looks great, even on normal tv, colors are deep and bright. I tested the full 8k using youtube, disney+ and netflix. youtube and D+ looked AMAZING, netflix was ok but a bit lackluster, again that has to do with netflix throttling the bandwith.

I streamed a movie from my pc to the tv and WOW did it look amazing. The remote is stright forward, if u owned a samsung you know what to expect. But i agree with others, for this kind of money and quality of tv, i think a $3 cable and $2 usb wall box would have been nice to charge the remote.

They give them with thier phones, why not thier tvs that have recharable remotes. Other then that, people say this is a 8k starter tv, well idk about that but the picture is awsome, the sound streaming to reciver is great, i would deff recommand to people esp where u can get in for $3400 right now.

Btw, i upgraded this from the samsung 82″ 4k tv i got last november. i do love my toys.

Purchased this telly after seeing as a great upgrade and finally decided to embrace 8k. I trusted samsung as a brand hence took the plunge to spent money on this telly. Qn700 is an entry level 8k oled tv (best of both world-8k and oled at the same time).

But it didnt meet my expectations. Specs are not fully detailed on the website. ie it says hdmi earc but not really mentioned what version. It has 4 hdmi connections but only 1 is hdmi 2. 1 which the earc port.

This idnt really help in terms of using my latest gaming console and so as its only 60hz refresh rate. And also changing from one input to another takes quite awhile to load compared to my 2019 4k telly.

The quantum processor lite is a bite slow in terms of processing image to upscale to 8k but when it does the image is right up there and cant compare to anything else. clear, stunning and well balance image.

This processor has an effect on processing i think in high squence and fast moving images. though it has picture clarity settings wherein judder settings can be adjusted. I can still see images gets pixelated specially when picture settings is set to dynamic.

What dissapoint me as well is having a samsung dolby atmos soundbar and yet cant use the dolby atmos capability of my tv as the soundbar is 2016 model. Which i wouldve expect samsung wouldve told or specify on there websites.

At the end. i returned this model but as i mentioned before, i trust samsung so i bought the 75″ qn800 but after finding its full specification else where rather than in the samsung website. As a feedback, samsung should be more detailed on the tellys specifications on their website which would really help consumers in their purchase decision and avoid returns.

Design is georgous, youll feel and see luxury on it. The one connect box keeps everything nice and tidy, the idea of havingg it on the stand is perfect. The universal remote. works like a charm. So if you want to be in the 8k badnwagon and the entry level specs doesnt bother you.

then the qn700 is for you.

The good. this set looks outstanding! first time switching it on was one of those moments of wonder, the clarity, the colours all just make your pupils dilate and it makes you want to watch everything you ever loved over again.

The interface is snappy and fairly intuitive. Now the bad. 8K is not really worth the upgrade in my opinion. I’m sat 3m away from a 65inch screen which is doing its best to upscale 4k transmission but sadly it seems the processor isn’t up tot he job when it comes to panning shots.

Watching streamed content at first I thought it was a slow internet connection, but it wasn’t choppy like when you get buffering, more like a smooth ‘jumpyness’ to panning shots that once you see it would drive you up the wall.

This is where (for me at least) the bottom of the range 8K tv from Samsung fails. Unfortunately my set also had a white spot in the bottom left corner so I opened a ticket and eventually sent the TV back.

I’ve ordered the QN95A to replace it as that has the best mid range processor and my eyes won’t be able to tell the difference, plus the screen will be brighter and have less reflections, which the QN700A does suffer from being shiny.

Overall if you gave it more time and tried different sources this might be a good TV but for me it ultimately had to go back. If I didn’t have the white spot I probably would have kept it and tried to turn off the upscaling to see if it made a difference, but it didn’t get the chance sadly.

Beautiful looking TV with thin bezels and crisp picture but motion wasn’t quite there.

PROs: + Price for the picture is very good + Picture quality is good, with good viewing angles + Google TV is a nice OS (with caveats) + Good array of inputs + Thin bezel and good design makes it appealing + Ability to turn off “Smart TV” and set it up as a “dumb” TV should be a feature on all smart TVs CONs: – Black levels are poor, making it seem a bit flat – Audio from TV speakers demands an upgrade – Google TV is riddled with advertising which is extraordinarily annoying for a purchased product – Remote control is too thin and difficult to handle Purchased for my parents to upgrade their TV, and it is excellent for their needs.

Unfortunately, they are getting older and these new-fangled technologies are slowly driving them mad. Google TV is a very good OS, and they seemed to pick up on it quickly. However, I do think they preferred the Roku OS which is a cleaner and more intuitive interface.

The biggest annoyance I have with Google TV is the advertisements they drop in. For a purchased product, this feels intrusive and acts to trip up people who don’t realize they are clicking on an advertisement.

Seriously, Google, how much money do you need?? One quirk we had was when hooking up the Facebook Portal TV, it would cause the entire CEC system to fail. This isn’t a fault of the TV but of the Facebook Portal device, yet it was frustrating to learn that we couldn’t use CEC with the Facebook Portal TV installed.

A workaround was to get an adapter that blocks CEC from the Portal, but it makes it harder to use now. The thin remote is solidly built, but it is so thin and the buttons are so small and illogically placed, it makes it more difficult for my parents than the old and more simple Roku remote was.

Overall, a decent TV, but there are better TVs available now with better picture quality. I tried to stay all Sony for my parents’ entertainment setup, and I’m glad they all work well together. But I wish these devices from Sony were better at communicating with each other too.

It is frustrating have 3 different Sony remotes that won’t work with the others.

This TV definitely lives up to the Sony name. This is the first Sony TV I have bought, although I have owned Sony Shortwave radios and I am still using an old Sony DVD recorder with a ATSC tuner. I have always consider Sony to be top of the line with receivers.

This TV has an awesome picture and for a flat screen great sound. I had to tweak the sound and picture settings. Especially the sound settings, to get the best performance, the factory settings really did not produce very good sound.

I was also able to pair a Bluetooth headphone set to the TV. I primary bought this for the Next Gen tuner, although I have not been able test it yet, but I am sure I will. I primarily watch OTA (TV over the air) and live in a marginal area for TV reception, so I am more interested in it as a receiver.

I have been watching OTA for over 12 years with a Roku box added in. As far as the receiver, it works as good and marginally better then other TV’s I am using on the same antenna system. In the help menu it has a signal diagnostic feature which gives signal strength and the all important Signal to Noise Ratio.

It also lets you add digital channels, so you can turn the antenna and add channels, without having to do a full channel scan. Features I like about Google TV. Sony allows you to install a full feature web browser.

Google TV, also allows to add channels from Pluto and Xumo (and actually pick which channels you want to add) to your TV tuner app, allowing you to surf streaming channels with your over the air channels.

So far I have nothing negative to say. I would recommend this TV to my friends.

Owned 6 months now. Picture superior, colors are realistic the shades of them not overdone. Streaming, mostly YouTube vids flawless. No buffering ever. Purchased the needed adapter for my 10-year-old DVD and VCR players.

Most all of my older discs and tapes appeared upscaled as well as were most older TV shows except for ones that probably were recorded at a different speed, as Sony upscaling starts at 480p. 4K is the big plus.

I feel like being immersed within the Picture with the larger 50″ screen. Preferred 55″+ but my home area is small. 2 calls to Sony Customer services were very positive. From other reviews I read about certain issues I felt that some of these were addressed within my tv from the start up.

Example: when turning on it will always go to the google start page and from there I hit TV button and it will always go the last channel I watched. I like the remote it has it all on one platform including operating my Sony dvd player and Sony sound bar.

I also found the screen on mine can be seen clearly from almost up to an 180 degree angle. I even see it clearly from my kitchen which is about 15 feet away. At 180 angle the pic loses some of the color.

The “night” views of say Las Vegas vids and others are super clear, the lighting is so bright and enhanced it is like your there. I had a Sony Vega Trinitron 32″ for 12 years and finally decided it was time to upgrade.

Two great choices.

I have purchased a few smaller TV’s over the years and recently another brand that I just wasn’t happy with. It now sits in my basement. Anyway I had an older LG 24″ that did go on the blink after 4 years and I remember I loved the picture so decided to look into buying another.

When I saw this model online at Best Buy and seeing that it had the built in ethernet which is something I definitely needed, I figured I would give it a try. WOW! I thought my old LG TV was great? This one blows every small TV I’ve owned out of the water with it’s fantastic picture quality, it’s TV tuner which pulls in so many more stations than we’ve ever been able to get with others (I am on an antenna) and the cool silver color around the border instead of the stark white.

The only thing that I added was a small soundbar to give it the extra boost needed. An inexpensive fix, especially for such a quality TV. If you are looking for a 24″ TV this particular LG model is a must have! I have had virtually no problems, setup was a breeze and like I said the picture is vivid, bright and a pleasure to watch! The sale price was another factor! Such a deal! It’s sits in my kitchen and I absolutely love it!.

Well, I have no idea how to judge this product since I can’t get it to work. The usually-helpful/upbeat floor staff encouraged me that I merely needed to plug it in and follow instructions. I’ve tried a dozen times, with full wifi on and sometimes officially “connected”, and only get a No Signal notice on the screen.

Googling te product itself yielded references to an “antenna”, which did not come with it. I’m hoping my geek nephew, who will be visiting in three weeks, can decipher the process. Normally I love Best Buy, and I had a good recent experience adding a Roku to an older dumb TV and it works fine, but I’m tempted to return this one for a dumb TV and a Roku.

Instructions need to be clearer for non-geeks: the minimal printed instructions are not BestBuy’s fault, but floor staff should be prepared to provide obviously-befuddled first-time older purchasers with more details.

Couldn’t rate your Quality points below because I’ve never seen a picture on this TV, but you insist on a rating so I gave 1 star on each.

I was gifted this television for Christmas during Black Friday sales. I was very set on getting a smaller screen than most contemporary TVs have as I don’t have too much room for one in my bedroom. This worked perfectly! It’s also very cute and kind of retro futuristic as the white frame is a simple but beautiful detail.

My only issue is that I was hoping I would be able to connect my bluetooth headphones to this device, but that is not an available feature on this model. My bad for not seeing that this was not an option, but finding that information was incredibly hard, so I assumed it had it when it wasn’t readily available that this model does not have bluetooth.

When I finally had the time to look it up online (it was not mentioned in the manual that came with the TV), I got information for other TVs first that were compatible. This was very frustrating.

Ok, So the box is massive, so no chance of this fitting in a car that is for sure. It is absolutely vital that the pictorial instructions are read and understood before undertaking the construction of this beast Though the pictorial walkthrough is fairly straightforward I was left with a missing screw (cable from TV to box) not stated as present either in fittings.

and it wasn’t. and somer plastic fillets with no particular place to put them ? I found that laying the TV on the box it arrived in was the best way to attach the stand which needed to be a depth of circa 4″ lower than the screen so couldn’t lay the screen flat on the floor.

The unit with the processor just rests on the stand loose when erected and is stable (not sure how this works if it is wall mounted though ? The cabling was straightforward but the casing to hide them was not really any good as it doesn’t securely attach the the unit other than with a couple of gromits, which comes away very easily.

When the TV is turned on it offers a “Quick” setup or manual, I choose the “quick” which to be honest was quite quick. Though it asked for your location for terrestrial Freeview TV and has an ariel input, I have since learnt after a substantial length of time fussing to find it, that Samsung have not included FReeview option on their TVs since 2016 ? ‘This has grated on me as there are stations available on freeview which do not appear on either Sky or that questionable Samsung TV (don’t get me going on that one !).

So to the viewing. I was a little disappointed with this as the stations I was interested in broadcast in quite low grade clarity so the 8K ability is extremely limited and enhanced viewing can of course only be appreciated when broadcast in that quality.

The 2 remotes also confuse me. why 2 ? One appears similar to the one I have from a TV in the 80s and the other one a state of the art sleek slimline equivalent. Though they both have differing functions to a degree I can’t really see the point in 2 of them ? Navigating the features on the TV seems reasonably easy however with the lack of terrestrial TV this is very disappointing especially as there is an input for it ? I am still to get to grips with the many enhancement features of this TV and it is currently hardwired to the hub and working fine I do intend to wall mount the TV soon and the cable required to do this is also included in the box.

As to.

This 65” Class QN800B Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV is just spectacular. The TV itself is super slim, so it can be mounted to a wall with minimal protrusion or, attached to a free standing base which is what I chose to do.

For connection, a One Connect box that is about the same size as a small laptop is included and contains four HDMI ports. You have the option of mounting the One Connect to the back of the base or leaving it free standing.

I chose to mount it to the back of the base so it is concealed. All of the connection wires go into the control box, and then just one wire goes to the TV, which adds to the clean look of the One Connect.

For those who dislike a bunch of messy wires, this feature is definitely for you. The unboxing to powering up is pretty simple and doesn’t take more than 15 minutes or so, but I suggest having another person handy because it’s somewhat heavy and needs to be laid face down to attach the base.

The TV itself and the free standing base is very well made overall. Set up is easy, and if you have a Samsung phone, even easier. Gone are the days that fingers would be crossed when it comes time to actually power up after connecting; the whole successful process took about 10 minutes, if that.

The picture quality is amazing, there is no doubt about that. The QLED, combined with mini LED back lights and adaptive picture provides really rich blacks and vibrant colors across the spectrum. The quality is consistent, too, whether the room is sunlit or lamp lit, with the picture being equally as crisp and clear in both settings.

The sound quality is above par as well. I have a 65” 4K QLED which I had to add a sound bar to in order for optimal sound. I was pleasantly surprised that this model has small speakers inlaid on the back of the unit, which provides really good audio, and also, the surround sound works great.

Some of the “fun” features of this TV include a solar remote and different modes such as Filmaker. Additionally, the ambient mode is ready to make the TV into a work of art when you aren’t watching TV or gaming.

I definitely think this TV is something that is a worthwhile must have for those who really enjoy watching TV and or gaming as it does not disappoint in either picture or sound quality. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

Unpacking: Keeping the box upright, remove the box strapping. Cut the tape at the top of the box, open it up and remove the quick start guide and any loose items. Next slide the box upwards from over the polystyrene panel padding.

Remove the following parts: One Connect box and port cover, Bag containing manuals, 2 remotes, batteries and connecting cables, 2 metal stand parts and attached screws. The panel has protective strips down the left and right sides to prevent crimping the edges of the panel.

There is also a film cover to remove from the screen. Follow the guide for assembly instructions. Once assembled the TV is comparatively heavier than many of the cheaper models. Build quality is good and the perforated metal strip surrounding the bezel looks good.

The rear cover is of a type of thin fibreboard and flexes quite easily but this doesn’t seem to be an issue. Configuration: My usual viewing is via a Sky Q STB which I connected to HDMI1. Configuration was completed using the SmartThings app on my iPhone 13 including network connectivity and linking HDMI to Sky.

The native TV OS is simple to navigate and streaming apps eg. Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime, itv Hub are activated easily. One thing I noticed with the ‘out of box’ settings is that the picture is bright and colourful, the blacks particularly black and definition on HD and above is impressive.

Sound quality is good and clear on the default settings. It’s easy to calibrate the screen in SmartThings with a compatible mobile handset. You have the option of a basic or advanced calibration process which is a case of setting your phone on a tripod, or similar, pointing the camera close to the screen (within 5cm) and then following the onscreen prompts.

The resulting settings can be saved to selected or all inputs. Overall, the settings provide an impressive picture. I tried both basic and later, advanced which I’ve stuck with.

Our last TV (also an LG) had the image fade out after many years of use, so we recently purchased this one. We opted to acquire another one from LG because we were happy with our last one. This model includes various projection possibilities, but we don’t see much of a difference between many of them, while some may.

For games, I use the game setting, and it looks fantastic. It has a fantastic sound. I was thinking about getting a soundbar for the previous TV, but now I’m more certain I’ll get one because the sound quality on this model is so fantastic.

The instructions for setting up the television set should be updated.

This TV has been everything i could have hoped for. I bought this TV 3rd party off of OfferUp. I did a lot of research and i needed a tv that could handle 4K gaming and streaming. I have to say i am always impressed with LG and the price point they fall under.

This TV has been nothing short of amazing and i would highly recommend all LG TVs. I have noticed a lot of issues other people seem to be having with connectivity, i have to say i havent had a single issue.

Stream all apps seamlessly. GREAT PICTURE, ALMOST BEZELLESS, LOVE MAGIC REMOTE.

I suspect that well-documented design flaw with the wifi also screws up other things. I have several persistent glitches, including wifi reception, wired connection drops, dropped and laggy reception of the remote control signal, app errors, image loss, unexpected shut offs, sound unsyncing on all sources including wired cable.

I’ve never had a such a buggy piece of. technology. And it’s all due to design flaws and bad construction. Online there’s handy support advice like “pull it off the wall, remove the back panel, & fiddle with wires.

” Seriously. Once a day, I find myself saying “I hate this tv”. After 3+ years, I’m determined to never buy ANYTHING from LG ever again. If I could afford to replace it, I’d have done so years ago. Do yourself a favor and buy any other brand.

Bought this 65 inch at Costco. Got it all hooked up using hdmi arc to sound bar worked great for a day then it lost hdmi arc connection. Called got a tech to come out and replace the motherboard the arc worked for a day again and is currently still not working.

The sound bar and hdmi cable work perfectly on two other different brand tvs without issue. It is clearly a software issue on LGs side. The smart portion of the TV is also very slow to react. If you want to use the hdmi arc connection look else where and you will ultimately probably have to buy a Roku or similar device from super slow webos software.

Upside is the picture is nice for the price. Buy a Roku 4k tv instead or any other brand for that matter.

Bought my TV 2 weeks ago. Since then Magic Remote is not compatible with my cable box (will not turn off cable box), screen interference when watching sports and movies, when turning on tv, with cable remote or magic remote, the screen opens to the LG Home Screen and I then have to use the magic remote to close this screen and get to my cable channels.

I know all this because I have been in your chat room for what seems like hours with very little success. I find this frustrating that I just cannot have a verbal conversation with someone and get these bugs worked out.

I really like LG tv’s and plan on keeping this product for a few more weeks while wondering “what’s next”, but if I cannot get these problems resolved I will return this tv and try someone else’s product.
