20 Best Two Blade Broadhead (2022 Updated)

I’ve been using slick trick magnums for years and they have been an awesome broadhead. I needed some more for the hunting season and I headed in to my local BPS to pick up some more. I was disappointed, but optimistic when I learned BPS no longer carried the original version with carbon steel ferrule and only the new “SS Pro” Version wit a ferrule made of stainless steel.

Yes the original carbon steel version could have some rust stains if left wet, but they were so durable. Also the new “Pro SS” versions cost a handful of dollars more a package and contain 3 instead 4 broadheads in the original version.

The broadheads shot true and I was very happy to give them a try. My impression after using them harvest a medium sized central Florida Doe is disappointed in the durabilty, even the performance on the animal was very good.

The shot flew true and made a very lethal wound to the animal that was easily recovered, but the new stainless steel ferrule was trashed. The arrow passed through and got hung up on the vanes and and light fell to the ground as the animal fled.

The arrows was not shoot into the ground and the hardest thing is hit was the rib of a 90lb doe. The stainless steel ferrule was totally bent. The original version could shot through many animals and never had and issue.

I feel the stainless steel ferrules is much softer than the original carbon steel versions. I would like to see BPS start carrying the original again, it would be appreciated to have both options; I would chose the original Carbon Steel Ferrule every time.

Holy crap. The past two weekends I shot a doe and a small buck. The buck was a perfect double lung shot and left a great trail for 80 yards. The doe however was different. I had her quartering away slightly and hit my release.

Right after the shot she took a step back and the broadhead ended up severing the neck and left another killer trail and ran 150. Totally recommend this head. Both shots were clean pass throughs and I only pull 60.

My son and I have been using slick trick broadheads for over 10 years. They get the job done. They fly true and the blood trails are awesome. I prefer fixed blade broadheads because I feel I get better penitration then mechanical broadheads.

I chose slick tricks because of there accuracy. They fly as good as field points. And are very durable. Can’t go wrong with this broadhead.

I have purchased a few of these broadheads and I have been very pleased. No they are not the same rage broadheads that you would purchase for $44 for a three pack at your local store. However, these broadheads fly great for me.

I will agree with most of the reviews that they are not as sharp as other broadheads, but you can sharpen them if you like. I personally do not bother, they fly great and they work just fine. I have shot 6 deer with these broadheads and have had complete pass throughs every time.

I even shot one deer at 65 yards and it blow through the shoulder and completely passed through. Overall, the construction on these broadheads are just fine. The o-ring system has worked just fine for me as well.

I will say this, given their price I typically dont reuse them. When I can get them for $6 a piece I havent found it necessary to. Again, these are not true rages, but I would buy three of these packs over one rage any day.

I’ve shot 12 whitetails in the last two years. Most were 50 to 70 yards with one shot at 100 yards. Every shot was a complete pass through except for the shot at 100 yards. That shot sliced through two ribs on the near side and didnt even touch the far side rib cage.

In every case the deer ran less than 50 yards with one doe dropping in her tracks. The blood trails were usually extensive but in a few instances I couldn’t find a drop of blood despite the fact that the deer had a gaping 4 inch long wound on both sides of its chest.

It was like it bled out so fast internally that it died before it had a chance to bleed externally. These broadheads fly just like field points and if the deer is within 80 yards and pauses broadside for a second is as good as in the freezer.

I’m shooting a centerpoint patriot which chronographs at 363 fps. I’ve also shot two turkeys and they dropped where they stood.

I have been using 100 gr Rage Crossbow broadheads for 3 years. Before using them I was skeptical of any mechanical broadhead. I decided to give them a try and I could not be more happy with them. I keep my shots close (less than 20 yards) so I have no experience with longer shots.

I have shot 12 deer with these and have recovered every one- usually within sight of my stand. I only needed 2 shots once and that was due to a poor first shot as the deer took a step as I pulled the trigger.

The blood trails have been very good and penetration is great as I have had mostly pass through shots. I have not hit a shoulder bone so I do not know how they would handle that situation. Good luck if you try them and keep your shots close!.

I have had these for a while, and never hunted with them due to lack of confidence in an expandable. They shoot very accurately, but so do my Magnus broadheads. I recently shot a buck at about 15 yds and wached him fall about 13 yds away.

The blood trail was ok, even though the shot was around mid body(double lung). The arrow broke and the broadhead end was never recovered, but there was a small exit hole, nothing spectacular only about a half inch.

I assume the broad head broke (entry cut clean through ribs, exit was behind shoulder. Must have broke on ribs?) and that’s why the entire broadhead didn’t exit. I still have two more to use and believe they will get the job done, but I am much more confident in a fixed blade.

Perhaps the Levi Morgan Shwackers with thicker blades have solved the weak blade problems.

I have been using the Swhacker 125 grain two blade broad heads for about 8 years and 18+ kills now, have not had a deer run more than 50 yards unless I made a poor shot. The blood trails are usually very easy to follow as well.

I cannot recommend these enough, they are lethal and durable. I used to shoot muzzy three blade and they were very reliable and forgiving if you made poor shots on deer. Only issues I had with them were the blood trails were not always great and they didn’t always fly true.

Unless you made a perfect shots you were usually tracking a long ways. After loosing a few deer I decided to try expandable broadheads on advise from one of my hunting buddies and had mixed experiences with them, mostly bad.

I lost a lot of deer, (5 out of 8) and after trying several different brands (including Rage, Rocky Mountain, NAP, and Twisted) I got frustrated and went back to the Muzzy. By the way Rocky Mountain were the worst broadhead I have ever used lost 3 out of 3 deer with them they would not penetrate and after you shoot them through something they were done.

Junk! Worst I have ever used! Rage worked ok but they didn’t hold up, you have to buy new ones after one use. very expensive! I watch a lot of hunting shows and one afternoon I was watching Hank parkers outdoors and I saw the Swhacker and how they were all very excited about how it works and being able to take quartering shots with an expandable.

I decided to try them, this was probably one of the best choices I have made as far as hunting products go. I will not be looking to switch any time soon. These things work! Don’t let any one tell you differently! If your hunting set up does not generate enough kinetic energy you may have issues with these opening properly or getting pass through shots.

They recommend your bow set up has at least 60 foot pounds of kinetic energy. If your shooting light arrows and a single cam bow set up for max speed, you will probably have to change your set up to a heavier arrow and possibly a twin cam bow for a little more down range punch.

I use a Elite Answer bow set at 68 lbs draw at 29 inches with Victory Archery VAP V3 350 spine arrows cut at 26″ length. This has been a very durable and effective set up for me. 8 years ago I purchased 6 arrows from Cabela’s and 3 Swhacker broadheads and have only lost two in that time period.

The broadheads are very durable and reusable, As an example I have used one arrow and broadhead and I have killed at least 6 deer maybe more over the years since purchase. The blades have bent and I have bent them back and sharpened with the swhacker sharpener several times.

If you are trying to find the most durable and lethal broadhead out there, look no further!.

The best expandable broadhead available for crossbow bolts!! The 125 grain head allows for excellent flight out of a short arrow that hits with the same accuracy of field points. This is the only crossbow specific 2.

25 in cutting head that allows you to lock the blades in place so you can practice with the same head and arrow you will use in the field. I have used Swhacker for 5 years and have had a “pass through” shot on 100% of animals taken.

Bought this for the last weekend of turkey season. Flew great but did nothing else. I’ve never seen a broadhead BOUNCE off a turkey before until I used this on a tom, at 15 yards, quartering away even tho it hit what should have been a kill zone.

Upon collecting the arrow I could see very Cleary how much penetration I got. Almost a quarter of an inch. It was clear with the little flakes of skin and fat only on the tip of the broadhead. I am still In disbelief that this happened with a 70 pound bow.

If I could go into the negatives for a rating I would.

I have archery hunted for over 50 years, starting with Bear two blade broad heads. I have used most major brands of heads in this time, both fixed and mechanical and have harvested a good number of deer and elk.

My broad head choice is the Rage 125 grain 2 blade broad head which has proven to be both accurate and deadly. I used it on three deer and hit all three where I aimed, dropping all of them within 50 yards.

It causes a large entry and exit wound and extreme bleeding. I would highly recommend this head.

I have been shooting rage chisel tips for a few years now and they are truly devastating! I absolutely love them and will never change! The flight is absolutely 100% true to your field tips. I have dropped deer in their tracks with shoulder blade shots and have made recoveries no more than 40 yards.

I highly recommend this product! I tried hypodermics but found that they were flying high.

Probably the worst broadhead ever. We have had zero success with these broad heads 5 lost deer. The problem is your two cut theory. The broadhead jams closed and fails to fully open if at all. There is a minimal entry wound which does not help.

If by some miracle the blade open there is no pass through absolute poor performance.

I have been using the 261 since it’s arrival in 2019. Like other Swhacker expandables I can expect them to hit behind the pin the same as my summer field points. Every whitetail taken with a swhacker has been a 100% pass through shot leaving blood trails almost unnecessary as deer fell within sight.

The 261 has blade lock technology that allows you to practice with the exact head you will hunt with. Hands down the only broadhead I will use.

The negative of these practice tips is that you cannot get replacements for the wings that are inserted in the practice head. You can take the wings out but I have not found where you can get any replacement wings.

I would give it 5 stars if I could get replacement wings. The price you have to pay for the practice tips there should be replacement wings. They have it for the 100grain practice tips but not for the 125grain.

I was not overly impressed with this new rage broadhead. It is bulky and difficult to fit in the Ravin quiver. The blades also touched the roller on the crossbow. I used this broadhead for a second shot at a mule at 80 yards.

It flew to the left and resulted in a shot to the hip. I attributed this to the blades touching the bolt roller rest. It was a complete pass through and I recovered the bolt with little damage to the broadhead.

Another negative is the high cost and only a 2 pack, with no practice point. They might work better on my Barnette.

I have been very skeptical about using expandable heads after reading all the horror stories about deflection. However, looking at this head I thought I’d give them a try. I finally got a shot at a real nice buck at 30yds.

He was going to check a scrape. I was shooting arrows with lighted nocks and I saw the arrow hit him, I couldn’t see the arrow laying on the ground, and I could not see it while he was running full bore across the field.

I knew that the nock had to be inside of him. Blood trail was a little hard to follow across the field about 150yds. I found the arrow laying on the ground as he exited the field. That is when the blood was everywhere.

He was laying dead about 20yds on a road going through the woods. We found that on the entry the head completely broke two ribs a cracked through a rib on the way out. I estimated that the the deer was down within 10 seconds from the time I shot.

The hole this head made was unbelievable. The head was in real good shape showing no bend in the blades and I think I can touch them up for another go around. I only had one of these heads as I gave one to my hunting buddy as a retirement gift.

I am heading to Cabala’s tomorrow for another pack.

Baseball sized entry wounds and huge blood loss. have yet to have a deer go more than 40 yards. Shoot exactly the same spot as a field point at 25 yards. I have had nothing but success with rage heads, 21 deer in the last 3 seasons.

To be fair and honest; I have only launched one of either variety of Rage broadheads that I own (Extreme Chisel or Hypodermic) at live game. Unfortunately, I shot low, shaved chest hair off a decent buck, but never drew blood.

The problem is; I keep finding my broadheads pre-deployed–in the quiver, that has a head cover. I have rubber o-rings on some, and shock collars on others, and same result. [And, yes, I followed installation instructions carefully.

] I’ve also noticed the blades will pre-deploy if I bump them–even lightly–against brush, tall grass, or a limb. I don’t feel like I can trust these enough to use them on a regular basis. I guess the only real positive I can say, is that the Chisel Tip practice heads (I didn’t get Hypodermic practice heads) do fly almost like field points.

I’ll probably sell them all and buy fixed-blade or Swhackers.

I have killed numerous turkeys and deer with the hypodermics. They are IMO the best broadheads for body shots on turkeys. I have not lost a bird with a rage yet. My only reason for the half star was a nice 3×3 mule deer I lost a few years ago.

The shot was a hair over 60 yards. At no fault of the broadhead I put it too far forward and hit him square in the shoulder bone. It sounded like I smacked a tree. I recovered the arrow and the broadhead snapped about a quarter inch above the arrow.

Maybe an inch of penetration. I’m certain I hit the heavy bone and know they aren’t designed to make it through that. The next day I shot a small buck at 45 yards quartered away and the head did what was expected.

I’ve taken 3 deer with rages and they perform very well with well placed shots. As long as you don’t expect these to through the tough stuff and you hit your game where you are supposed to, they have yet to fail on me.

They are one shot done due to warping. Good luck out there.

Figured shelf life was high and future prices even higher. Basically single use items even if you do find what blew through a whitetail at 400+ fps. So very effective that I smile in firing up the grill and remembering the shot.

– But why/how are these hunting heads about half priced? It seems that packaging plastic has relaxed allowing items to move a bit. I tend to toss out the packing anyway. Perfectly accurate and so effective.

Have 6 of these heads and have shot 3 deer with them. Two of those three the tips folded over and the third had a chip out of the blade. They are easy to sharpen and fly great with a little nock tuning.

They supposedly have a lifetime warranty but have not looked into it yet.

I went into 3 Rivers for Helix broadheads but they didnt have the exact one I wanted, after talking to the very helpful desk salesman he directed me to the Dirt Nap Broadheads. I was nervous because I was going on a hunt the next week.

I took them home and tried them on my target at 30 yards and shooting 60 pounds it blow thru the target and the plastic chair it was sitting one. I shot a doe at 15 yards the next week using the same broadhead and it was a complete pass thru the twisted thru the deer opening a hole 3 fingers across and ripping the heart and lung apart as it went thru.

I’ve been bow hunting for 40 plus years, as I stated earlier these are the best two bladed broadheads I’ve ever hunted with. They fly perfect out of my Black Widow recurve and the same out of my crossbow.

I’ve taken three does with them and the farthest run was approx. 30-35 yards and dead when they dropped.

Used a 4 blade Stinger 125 grain to take a doe. Full pass through and 6 inches into the ground. Doe went 35 yards and piled up. Unfortunately the broadhead hit a root and bent. Sent an email to Magnus and 11minutes later I received a reply from the CEO apologizing and asking for a picture of the bent broadhead.

A week later I received a new Stinger in the mail. Amazing broadheads and even more amazing customer service! Thanks Magnus!.

I started using fixed heads after my mechanicals weren’t flying right. I watched a ton of Ranch Fairy videos on Youtube and learned about building arrows, FOC, fixed heads and other countless broadhead test videos.

I decided to gamble on these. I dialed in my bow with basic field tips, then put these Magnus Stingers on, and I only had to make minor adjustments. The very next day, I shot an 8 Point buck at 53 yards thru the heart.

These things fly like field points, it’s insane. They are very sharp and every deer I’ve killed has been a full pass thru. You have the option to sharpen them after each kill, but I’d buy a new pack if you need new ones.

Keep your old ones as a testament to how many deer you kill. I buy a couple new packs each season!.

Early archery hunt 2022. Took down a bull elk. 39 yards. This broadhead was solid and true to design. Highly recommended. Just remember to align with your vanes. Draw weight was @69 lbs. a minor bent on small blade but one heck of a kill shot.

125 grains.

I have been hunting in NJ since the early 70s. Used compounds and when crossbows became legal in NJ I began using one. It was a Parker tornado, now using Tornado F4. I found myself not being as proficient with the compound and the crossbow kept me in the field, I love it.

I have used G5, slick trick expandable and others all with decent results but not without problems. Blades would not open, becoming unlocked and open and hard to close in the field being a constant worry.

This Rage collarless hypo is balls on accurate and is scary devastating. Shot a few good bucks pushing 50 yds with them and Oh Boy, the brown went down. Clean, quick kill that was easy tracking and fast recovery.

Put a lighted knock on the arrow or bolt and you have a deadly combination every time.

I have been using Rage Hypodermic broadheads with shock collars, and the blades deployed prematurely by bumping them upon removal from my quiver. I switched to this broadhead design this year, and I arrowed a great 8-point buck at 30 yards.

I hit him in the shoulder, and the broadhead continued penetrating into the body after piercing the shoulder. The buck fell twice after impact and ended up only 50 yards beyond the initial hit! What a broadhead!!!! I plan on using these Rage broadheads every season from now on!!.

45-yard shot with crossbow. POI was same as field point. Doe ran 75-yards and the blood trail was profound. Big slice going through entry and exit of hide. Ribs completely sliced through (both sides), lungs toast, and bolt imbedded in dirt.

Very Impressed. Dont know why some of the reviewers think you can use the same broadhead to shoot multiple times on game, hit dirt & trees, and never get bent or broken ? This Rage is a winner.

Shooting a crossbow with a 325 pound draw weight, I found that most mechanical broadheads either open on launch or they are strapped down so tight that they are still closed on entry. These broadheads require no bands and fly as well or better than my field points.

After numerous shots into a firm Blob target, the blades are all still intact and the broadheads is ready for more action. If you are shooting a high speed bow with plenty of power, these heads will provide entry and exit holes while still flying well.

Groups with my field points off Xbow at 372fps and compound at 300fps. Shot through foam blocks sandwiched with 1/4″ plywood between the blocks 3 times with no damage at all to head and blades still sharp & function smoothly.

NY legal head as the blades will reverse on removal so it is not a “barbed” head. The 4 blades absolutely shred the block target. I have not hunted with them yet, but I am sure they will be devastating.

I have no doubt this mechanical will punch through a shoulder blade.

i have never had a problem, shoots great and i recovered every deer i shot!! got a 155in. 10pt. in 2019, shot at 33yds. i love them!!

I have shot the extremes for years with great success. Switched to the no collars when they came out and continued to have great luck with them. Also more convenient then the collars were. I have taken 4 deer with the no collars and all expired very quickly.

I’ve shot almost every head on the market at one point in time. At the end of the day nothing is going to save you from poor shot placement. These heads do a amazing job if you do your part. Blood trails are pretty wicked.

I was disappointed last year when I realized i could no longer buy the old style (plastic collar). I thought they discontinued them. When I realized they updated them with the new locking system I immediately jumped on them.

These update broadheads are even better than before. I have yet to have an issue with these in a hunting situation while using them for 5-6 year now. They do massive amounts of damage to internal organs (heart and lungs) which I like because I know that the animal will not suffer.

Don’t let anyone tell you mechanicals don’t work because in my experience with rage (this broadhead) works and works well.

I figured these would be much sharper out of the box. The leading blade is dull with the edges rolled over, will have to hone before using. The two side blades have varying sharpness along the edge, will also need to be honed or sharpened before use, a bit disappointing considering quality level advertised.

I do like the no collar design and seems like it will work. Hoping to use these on turkeys this year, hoping they deploy and perform well.

Switched from the old Rage 3 blade (w/ o-rings) to the 2 blade +P and am very happy so far. I am only shooting 60 lbs in my old age and only took 2 deer with them this year but was impressed on both shots.

One buck, broadside, passthrough, dead in 60 yards. One doe, quartering away hard, hit in front of right hip, exited in front of left leg, passthrough, dead in 40 yards. That’s a lot of deer to go through with 60 lbs.

Did I mention I was impressed?.

I’m a big fan of the SIK SK2 broadhead. I’ve killed everything from a mature Iowa buck to several turkeys with the SK2 and they’ve performed flawlessly!. What SIK advertises from a technology and offset wound channel perspective fits the experience that I had using the broadhead.

The penetration and blood trails that the broadhead has produced have been massive. One of my coworkers and my Dad also used this head and both shot Iowa bucks with the SIK SK2. We shoot different poundage, different bow models, etc.

and in all cases, the broadhead did the job. I’ve practiced with the SK2 out to 50-60 yards and it flew just like my field points. I would definitely recommend the SIK SK2 and will be using the broadhead this spring and again next fall.

I can’t say enough about the quality of these broadheads. Very few products truly perform as advertised but this is definitely one of them. I have seen them go to work on whitetails, wild pigs and bears and all had the same outcome: field point accuracy, perfect pass through, devastating wound channel and ridiculous blood trail.

These truly are a game changer in the broadhead market. Everybody should try one of these.

These broadheads are built to kill with giant entrance and exit holes. Blades and ferrule seem to be extra beefy and very sturdy. The red breakaway clips can be a little tricky to set, but after replacing a few it got easier.

Glad I went with these last season. Took 1 whitetail buck and 1 doe, and neither made it 50-60 yards after impact. With so many options to choose from nowadays, I felt it best to go with a company that was built by it’s reputation, and since SIK is owned by Bear Archery it was an easy choice!.

I was sighting in my crossbow with field tips then switched to my NAP Killzone Crossbow mechanical broadheads to see where the actual broadhead impacted the target. The tiny nut on the small pin kept coming loose.

After a shot it did not matter if I pushed the arrow through the target to retrieve it or pulled it out. I basically lost the little nut on 3 broadheads. Once the nut comes all the way off, the pin can fall out and the blades fall to the ground.

I called the manufacturer, New Archery Products and they were not very helpful. Customer service said that these broadheads are not designed to be shot at targets therefore they are not warrantied and they will not offer a replacement.

I let the person know I was using a foam target that was intended for retractable broadheads but that did not seem to matter to him. I thought they would have been more interested in finding out why the nut was coming off the pin but that was not the case.

If the nut can untwist from the pin in a target it can probably do the same thing when it hits a deer.

I bought these and was excited to try them. I recently took a 20 yd broadside shot at a doe. The blades deployed in flight and i watched the arrow drop right under the deer for a clean miss. It was better than a wounded animal, but disappointing all the same.

That broadhead is now damaged and unusable. I’m going to give these one more chance before switching them out for fixed blades. (for reference: 30 lb dw, 29. 5 dl, 525gr total weight arrows).

I love everything about these broadheads, except changing the blades. I shoot 66 pounds with 490 gr. and 500+ gr. arrows, and I get incredible and consistent performance from these heads. I’ve shot through bone and very heavy shoulders and never experienced a head failure with these or had any problems achieving pass-throughs.

The only problem I have with these broadheads is that changing the blades can be a headache. The tiny nut/bolt/wrench system could and should be dramatically improved. If you have big hands, good luck to ya! I gave them a 4 star rating based simply on the incredible performance I’ve experienced with them.

But I have to be honest, I thought about rating them lower because there have been times that changing the blades has made me consider whether or not I want to continue shooting them. NAP is fortunate that they are such strong performers once the blades are in.

I was told to use these for my Mission MXB-360 crossbow (that does 360fps) because they could take the force from the release at that speed. Well multiple broadheads opened up from all 3 packs that I purchased.

I lost two arrows while sighting in my HHA Optimizer Speed Dial with my scope. You have to shoot at 20 and then out to 60 yards to choose the right yardage tape for the wheel. Well these broadheads took flight after 30 yards and flew off like a remote control airplane taking a hard bank to the left.

Mission crossbows take certain weight arrows and are very expensive so losing two of them because of these junk broadheads really made me mad. I am far from cheap or poor and could care less if I destroyed a bolt after it went through a deer or hog, but to lose 2 while ranging in after backing out my target 10 yards at a time to make sure I didn’t miss the target, really bothers me!!!! Both went over 75 yards to the left and in to the swamp area at the outdoor archery range.

I have had mechanical Spitfire Broadheads open when they first came out on the market and they never ever did a sky hook like these did. Anybody who says that these broadheads are good is either using a low draw weight crossbow, a crossbow that is the length of a long rifle so it has a super long draw to get the high FPS or is just a Rage fan! There is a video that got pulled from Rage complaining about it of a guy in a national competition who lost something like 50k or 100k due to his Rage broadheads deploying in mid flight.

I went with G5 Montec crossbow fixed broadheads after trying these garbage and took a buck at 34 yards with the G5’s. it went 20 yards and dropped with a huge amount of blood and a complete pass through.

Also these Rage mechanical broadheads go dull as a butter knife after 2 shots in to a block target. G5 Montec’s tip didn’t even roll after hitting sand and rocky soil after the pass through shot from my hunting blind on a 5ft tower which gave me a shot from 8 1/2 feet off the ground.

I wouldn’t even trust these Rage crossbow broadheads out of my Mathews Compound Bow and will probably give them to my buddy who has a lower draw weight crossbow so he can shoot hogs behind the ear with them to drop them fast.

Rage should have changed the draw weight recommendations for them or stopped producing them because they are flawed. I will never buy another product from them after getting stuck with these crossbow broadheads.

I have only used Rage broad heads when hunting with my crossbow. This year I took 1 buck with 1 bolt and a doe that required 3 shots to fully die. The only difference is that I used the X broad-heads on the doe.

Good impacts but not a lot of blood. The hypodermic broad heads are much better. I dropped a buck a week later with a single bolt almost instantly.

Love the shape, the weight and the steel. However, due to uneven factory grinds it was difficult to get these where I wanted them for sharpness. Additionally one broadhead was not quite straight when glued on (not my fault!) And I lost one inside of a 3d target because there was paint inside of the flared portion, which the glue adhered to, rather than the metal, causing it to come loose when I pulled the arrow out.

Overall good but a couple things to watch for.

Although I have not used these particular heads as yet, I have taken a number of big game animals with Zwickey broad heads and they are my go to hunting points. At about 50Rc hardness, Zwickeys are relatively easy to sharpen but will take and hold a razor sharp edge.

The triple thickness on the point makes them extremely durable and I have shot several deer through the near shoulder blade with penetration through the opposite front leg. With properly spined shafts and adequate fletching they have always flown straight and true for me.

Resharpen and reuse makes them very economical for a hunting head. They have been around forever for a good reason!.

I have been shooting and hunting with bare bows for over 60 years. Unfortunately, I did not ‘discover’ the Zwickey 4-blade Delta soon enough. Since I have always made my own arrows, first from footed Port Orford Cedar, later aluminium and carbon with weight forward added (necessary for the vital momentum for deep penetration; marketing BS to the contrary notwithstanding, as physical laws do not change according to mass propaganda lies), I tried everything to optimize my arrows.

Being a physicist, engineer and inventor, I bought or obtained every different type of broadhead I could find. The gimmick blades are junk — all of them. They break upon striking bone or anything hard and are unreliable.

In good science, the optimal engineering factor is: KISS — Keep It Simple, Stupid! Stay away from all gimmicky garbage. Two blade broadheads leave a lousy blood trail, if they leave any at all. Therefore only 3 or 4 blade broadheads are acceptable, with more cutting blades better — to a point.

Of these, the 4-blade has the optimal arterial cutting probability and can allow a wider broadhead, if but only if the speed and mass (also known as momentum-that physical principle that keeps things stable in movement through space) are sufficient to guarantee complete penetration every time, as no animal drops dead in his tracks even with a heart shot.

They instantly run to heavy cover and all to often get lost without a good blood trail. The Zwickey 4-blade Delta, when modified by filing back the pointed tip to provide a guarantee of no bending of such tip, then sharpening the broadhead to a true razor sharpness.

When so done, there is no other blade on the market that is as strong, effective, deeply penetrating and as certain to produce a good blood trail. I shot a quite large moose with the Zwickey Delta, severing a rib going in on a quartering away shot, with the arrow penetrating and breaking the off shoulder and exiting, burying itself deeply in a tree.

The broadhead was still in excellent condition except for needing resharpening. The moose went nowhere, unable to move. Never before had the very experienced guide see such effective performance from any other broadhead.

This has been my experience all over the world, consistently. Please, do not believe any marketing propaganda. Test by the most severe means, beyond the worst possible case scenario, for a reliability safety margin.

Then and only then will any archer truly appreciate just how good this broadhead actually is. No hype, just performance, each time, every time, without any possibility of failure. Remember, it is only the arrow placement, the arrow mass, the broadhead and its extreme sharpness from the instant of contact through and out the animal that counts.

Nothing else. The fanciest bow and other stuff are then out of the equation. After all these years of continual testing of everything, no other broadhead on the market has ever come even close to the Zwickey Black Diamond Delta broadhead.
