20 Best Ultralight Spincast Reel (2022 Updated)

I bought a couple of these reels many years ago as “back up” reels, that I used whiile doing guide trips for early run Chinook salmon in west Michigan. I thought they would suffice, if one of my other, higher end reels from “another manufacturer” failed in some way.

Bear in mind, these are lake MI “King” salmon, which we’re fishing in the narrow and log filled Pere Marquette river, using 30# braided line tied right to the lure. So a GOOD drag system to handle powerful runs, with really tight drag setting, is a must.

We’re also casting-retrieving lures hundreds of times in the course of a full day guided trip, so bail spring failure in NOT an option. Can’t say enough, these have “fished” better than reels 2-3+ times their cost and I’m still using them today.

I recently bought a President 10 for my wife since we had good luck with her Lady Trion, boy was I wrong. After less than a month of fishing the spinnerhead is already grooved and fraying the line. The spinnerhead on the Lady Trion was made of harder material (maybe that has changed) and is still good after several seasons.

Suffice it to say we are very disappointed in this ‘Premium Reel’.

This is my first Pfleuger reel. My grandparents owned a fishing resort in Minnesota and I grew up on Shakespear, Zebco, Abu Garcia reels, then later Shimanos, that never seemed to break, many of which I still own nearly 50 years later.

However, I am in need of a new spincast and reviews of this PRES10SC were favorable so I bought one. My initial impression of both the reel and corporate customer support. or lackluster at best. The reel would not fit on the first three rods I tried to install it on due to clearance issues between the front cone assy and hold down clamp.

There is a mere 6/32″ clearance between the reels cone and lower frame assy. I tried contacting Plfeuger by phone to inquire as to why one would design a reel in such a manner. but could never get through.

I sent an email asking the same question, but again received no response. One would thing that a corporation that has been in business for more than 100 years would have learned a thing or two about customer satisfaction.

Guess not. I was getting ready to buy a Pfleuger spinning reel, again because of favorable reviews. but now I’m not so sure. Guess you have to be a Bassmaster before Pfleuger deems you worthy of their consideration.

Great reel. Love everything about it. Clutch not a pawl. Easy maintenance. Cajun Red line. As smooth as my Omega, just without the bearings in the handle knobs. Faster retrieve than the Omega, but slower than the new 33.

Fits in between, higher quality than a Titanium, Tactical or Folds of Honor. These circa 2010-2014 are the best Chinese made 33’s. From the same time period, get the Mercury 3, or the Vault 3 as a far superior 202/404.

I think these are the best engineered and value priced reels Zebco has made in China. We shall see what Rather Outdoors comes up with after they bought Zebco from WC Bradley, obviously after they dump all the 2020-21 inventory they have.

I got two of these for my sons from another retailer not knowing that Walmart has it for cheaper. My younger son broke the reel handle quickly by throwing it against the ground – but besides that, they’re perfect for kids.

They come pre-spooled with 4 lb line. The best part about these reels is that they are great for kids because they tangle less often than the open reels. They are fairly smooth and they have an option to turn on a bite indicator (basically a the reel allows line to be released and when a fish bites, you hear an audible clicking noise).

The reel itself is very small (roughly about 3 inches tall by 2 inches wide). The handle is about 4 inches tall by 2 inches wide (yes it’s bigger than the reel). I paired these reels with small Ugly Stick Dock Runners (also from Walmart), tied on rubber fish on the line and they play with them for hours.

Overall I really like these reels and I think they’re worth the price (under $20).

Zebco reels are flawless! I used one as a child for my entire childhood. Gave me a lot of good times! Now I have 5 ea of 5 different ones. If things get rough in this country, me and my family will still eat.

You may be able to buy more expensive designer reels but these are unbeatable for the long haul.

I bought this reel at my local Walmart. The first day I used it, it performed beautifully. It could cast so far! I caught a nice largemouth Bass with it. I couldn’t wait to go fishing again the next day.

However, the next day it was like I was using a different reel. The line kept getting tangled up underneath the spooler, and I would have to stop, take the spooler off and untangle the line. Then the release lever kept sticking, keeping the line from casting.

I lost 4 lures because this reel kept malfunctioning. As soon as I’m going to find my receipt and return it to the store for a refund.

This is a very comfortable reel to use compared to an open-face spinning reel since you don’t have to position a bale so that you can capture the line with your finger, and then open the bale. However, I had a problem with it that I was able to correct.

The prong that captures the line inside the screw-on-face is supposed to completely retract when casting (with the trigger pulled upward) so that the line can smoothly leave the reel. However, the prong was a bit too long to completely retract, causing the line to occasionally “hang” on it when casting, causing the lure to stay with the rod tip.

I purchased more than one of these reels, and they all had the same problem. I was able to fix the problem by using a fine-tooth file to file its length down to the internal surface to which it was partly retracting when the trigger was pulled.

That solved the problem and now it works as it should.

I purchased this reel new from bass pro because it was a under spin and I assumed that because of the Daiwa name on it that I would experience few, if any, issues with it I was reely wrong. My first outing using reel was a disaster I was fishing for Large mouths and was retrieving my bait and all of a sudden it stopped and I had to pull it in by hand.

Most fisherman know what that means a knotted mess of mono-filament down around my feet. I set that pole aside and used my Zebco 202. I did a post-mortem as to what was the issue and discovered line had was being taken up between the reel cap and the spool on the spindle I had to cut away the mess and reline reel.

Next trip wasn’t much better didn’t get enough torque on spool cap when I put it back together. Then There was drag issue. I gave up. on reel.

The Diawa Minicast 40 is a great ultralight spincaster reel. Easy to use and handles small and medium sized fish well. When paired with a lightweight rod, the combo is like a feather in your hand. The only downside I’ve seen to far is that the drag adjustment is a bit tricky.

You can go from too little drag to too much drag quickly. This is not a major problem, but something to watch out for if you are trying to land a larger fish. I highly recommend this reel for those looking for an easy to use, lightweight spincaster.

Would be great for children or those new to fishing.

Fits in the original Minicast 2 case–with a couple of modifications. Same size reel and same line capacity. Build quality seems better than the original Minicast 2. Both the pole and reel are a good size for kids to fish with.

The closed-face reel is easier for a child to master than an open face casting reel.

Good basic reel! I have the very first mini cast system that came out and Im 57 years old now. This reel has the same quality and dependable!

I bought my 2nd omega pro 2 days ago and it’s useless right out of the box. 1) my z02 came spooled up and had the extra spool. This one came with the extra spool but the reel itself was empty? Good thing they included a spare I guess.

2) the z03 is supposed to have at least 3. 6:1 gear ratio. Its box states 3. 4:1 3) online it states 3 line pickups. Mine showed the standard 2 4) the reel itself will not recover from casting position.

Hence the pickups are still retracted. I found this as I was unnecessarily inserting the spare spool, seeing as how it came EMPTY to begin with 5) antireverse not engaging I’ve have gemerally good experiences at BPS over the years.

I’ll credit BPS if they handle this correctly. But it’s a long drive for me, the weekend is here, and the reel I thought my daughter would use on our trip is useless.

This is a solid little reel that handles its job quite adequately in most instances. The 10 lb. test original line seems a bit light for larger fish and even medium weed snags, but all that is baked into the choice.

The surprise came when I first used the reel in rainy weather. I was not prepared for the slippage of my thumb from the rubber-coated-floating-line-release-button on this spin-caster. The release remains hard to control when the reel thumb release is wet, and this led me to choose four stars instead of five.

I like the reel fine for light work…in dry weather.

Perfect reel for my son’s ultra-light pole from BPS. This reel is smooth as silk and will land decent sized largemouth. I have NOT (AND WILL NOT ALLOW) set the drag lower for line stripping purposes as I never want to take the chance of ruining a good thing.

Everything feels solid with this reel vs buying a cheaper priced model. Treat the reel right & use it for the proper sized fish, and it will work fantastic. Use it in a manner it wasn’t meant for, and you’ll be writing 1 star reviews.

I have one of these reels already and it is great. The oscillating spool ensures even line winding on the spool which pretty much eliminates line hangups. The star drag is also the best because it can be adjusted with a big fish on the line.

In the last two years I have caught a 6. 4 lb. bass and a 10 lb bass. I have used a version of this reel since I was 16 years old.

I’m 63 now and fished with 170s with my dad as a kid. In fact, I still fish with those wonderful reels. Then Abu Garcia discontinued them and came back with these knockoffs. They’re okay but not even close to the old ones.

I’d recommend you look at Zebco, too.

Seems to be very good quality. By today’s standards it’s on the large side. I gave it 4 stars, because it’s made in China and not Sweden like the original. The Swedish made Garcia reels were tops.

Spincast reels fell out of favor and are now relegated to kids rods. This is a shame because they can certainly be used by novice and the “occasional” fisherman. Unfortunately, nobody makes a high quality spincast reel anymore.

This is the best that I have found and it is certainly acceptable. Not great but acceptable. The Zebco Pro that I bought a couple of years ago was sheer junk. This one has held up pretty well. My wife likes it a lot.

After using a few times, the Bullet appears to be well made and is very smooth. Much smoother than cheaper reels that I was using. If you can afford to pay a little more, it will be more than worth the headache you get from using cheaper reels.

I have now three of these as I starting to enter Kayak Fishing tourneys and need to have quick access to multiple setups.

Don’t waste your money on any other spin cast reel! This is the only one you need! Don’t just buy 1, because after you cast it, you’ll replace all your spin cast reels with Bullets! It feels like a baitcaster without the hassle.

Zebco already makes great products but, this is the icing on the cake right here y’all!! just 1 cast and I guarantee you’ll toss out all other spin cast reels!!.

My child had been using his original reel for about a year and his line had so much memory, it was making it difficult to have an enjoyable fishing trip. I purchased this reel because my child’s original reel broke when we attempted to switch out the line.

I wanted him to upgrade to a spinning reel but after a few hours of trying we decided to wait until he was a little bit bigger because the length of his fingers made it difficult to cast a spinning reel.

We had looked into a new complete spincast setup but he was very happy with his current pole and I found it difficult to throw away a perfectly good pole when all he needs was a replacement reel. After searching for a couple of hours, we ran into this reel and with such an affordable price, could not pass up the opportunity to give it a try.

When I received the reel I decided to change out the line because I do not know how long the line had been sitting in the reel and 19 lb test seemed a bit to high for the bluegill and tilapia he had been catching.

After removing the old line I can see that I had made a smart decision. The line that came with the reel felt very cheap and already had more memory than the line I had tried to replace on his original reel.

I spooled up the reel with some new 5 lb mono and tested it out. The reel does not seem to be of the highest quality but for what it was intended for, works great. My son is happy to be fishing again and has had great success with this setup.

I do not expect this reel to last more than a couple of seasons but if it does, I will be pleasantly surprised. I just hope it lasts long enough so that his next setup is a spinning reel or baitcaster.

We bought this brand new last summer for my 5 year old to use on his first fishing trip. The Zebco 33 series was the one I used as a kid and, at the time, was a fantastic reel for someone starting out.

Second day out, it started having issues with the release button and the reel no longer working. A quick look inside and I found the bail spring laying in the bottom of the housing. Put it back in place and back to fishing.

A little while later, same issue. This continued to happen with increasing regularity until I finally had to admit defeat. The spring metal was so thin and weak it had literally warped to the point it would no longer stay put no matter what I did.

I also found small pieces of black plastic laying in the bottom of the housing. I didn’t try figure out from where, since the reel was pretty much useless at this point I considered it a lost cause and tossed it.

Fortunately, someone fishing with us had an extra cheapo spincast reel (not Zebco) my boy was able to use for the rest of the trip. If you’re thinking about buying one, these are a great reel if you like constant problem solving, expanding your vocabulary and practicing de-escalation methods for children.

I’ve since located a 1980s vintage model 33 that is working wonderfully.

I now have 3 of these. I also have 3 Omega pros. I use the Omegas for casting steady for bass with 20 lb braid. Don’t even look at the bait casters anymore. I have used the Platinum’s with lighter lures for that purpose but more often for a trolling reel.

They give me less hassle than a spinning reel. One has 10lb braid the others have flourocarbon line on them. Monofilament ahs to be replaced more regularly than other liens so the line that comes with the reel is of little consequence.

Mush less hassle when trolling and so far they have stood up. Often have to bring ina heavy weed accumulation and sometimes even catch a heavy fish. I have landed Northern, walleyes, bass and panfish using these reels and they have stood up.

The rapid retrieve is another plus. Gave the rating as a 5 as they are not all that expensive. Finding the rods they deserve is a bit of a challenge as the rods are made for bait casters. DPK.

I bought Zebco Omega Z02 and Z03 combos at Academy 6 or 7 years ago, maybe more. They were on season’s end, great sale prices. about $40 each combo if I remember correctly. Both seemed well made and performed very well for a year or 2.

They were quite smooth! Then, they both started getting a hitch in the line during casts cutting the cast short. I’ve changed line several times and cleaned and re-lubed. same results, though. Lately, the Z02’s drag has become non functioning.

I have mostly fished spinning reels for the last 5-6 years because they don’t let me down. I love the size of the Z02 for light fishing but I have given up on both Z reels now. Neither reel got heavy usage before the problems set in.

I feel that a $60 retail reel ought to last longer and therefore, would not recommend either reel for purchase! Both still look very good, haha, but alas, perform poorly!.

I purchased this reel yesterday at Dick’s Los Cerritos center and was so excited to try it out today. What a total letdown! The reel functions well; however, for paying $70. 00 I really expected it to cast far and flawlessly.

Unfortunately, such was not the case. The casting distance was far shorter than most 33’s I’ve used (I have several, and 2 with the identical factory-spooled 10 lb test cajun line. ) When I tried putting a heavier (3/4 oz) weight on for farther distance, the line dropped several inches and the casting distance was not that much farther than 1/2 oz.

I was also using a cheap $13. 00 Daiwa ultralight that actually cast the same distance. I opted for this reel over the Zebco Bullet because Dick’s had this particular reel in stock. Now, I don’t think I’ll pay $100.

00 for the Bullet because of the total letdown I have from this supposedly superior reel.

I have used this reel for years and it is a great reel. 6 ball bearings for a smooth retrieve, and it will throw a mile! All metal so it will last almost indefinitely. Brass gears so with a little maintenance and care you will have a reel for a long time.

I have used my original Omega Z03 for bass, catfish and pan fish. It will cast a light lure very easily as long as you are using light line. It comes with a spare line spool so changing line weight is very quick.

The retrieve ratio is a little slow (2. 9:1). If you are going to us it for any lure that is fished slow it will work great but for lures that require fast retrieve (buzz bait) although it will work, you just have to crank the handle a little faster.

I made this purchase not to replace the original reel but to add another one to my fishing equipment.

You can not go wrong with this little spincasting reel. It is built to last and it has a smooth casting and retrieval action. I mounted it on an Ugly Stick and it is very nice and comfortable. You can fish all day with this little thing.

It has a very unique style and you will love it go ahead buy one.

Loaded it up with 6 lb line and put it on a dock demon pool. It handled 2 small bass and some decent sunfish on its first outing. Will be ordering one more to replace a worn out 202.

Better than other brands of spin casting reels. Soothe retrieve and good drag system. Mounted on Daiwa 5.5 ft Sweepfire pistol grip rod. Great combo.

My son received this fishing pole and rod combo for his birthday and has been using it to catch small stocker trout. He seemed to only be able to cast about 10-15′ out consistently. I watched him cast as I thought it was an operator error causing the short cast.

After watching him for a bit I took the pole and found that the line appeared to be caught inside and would cause the line to no longer free spin. I removed the top and eventually found that the pins that retract when the action is cycled do not fully retract.

This causes the line to suddenly stop mid-cast and is quite frustrating. Thank God I had a spare pole with a trusty Zebco 909 on it. He was able to cast with ease and caught a bunch of rainbow trout.

I wonder if the one star reviews are of the previous Micro, as I can identify with all the compaints noted. In fact, I hesitated to purchase this one, but took a chance. Glad I did! This one casts well, every time and although I’ve hooked no really large fish the drag has performed just fine.

I really like the bait click/ antireverse deactivate sliding knob.

I had always wanted to try the black Omega Pro Z03 reel just to see what an upper end spincast reel was like, but I didnt want to spend $70 on it, afterall it is just a spincast reel. I looked at one in the store on display and instantly noticed the ocillating spool.

No more line dig on the spool and no more mid-cast line snags. It’s silky smooth and quiet, and with three line pick-up pins, it gets positive line engagement every single time. I was sold. The drag works perfect and micro adjustable.

It doesn’t bind up when reeling in under a load. My only complaint is it only holds 85 yds of 10lb test line. If I switch to 8lb it would hold more. Extra spool, single and double know handles included, metal frame, fit and finish is perfect.

It just has such a good feel to it. This is my new go-to reel for trout, panfish, and light catfishing.

I have used several of these reels over the years. Casting is extremely smooth and deadly accurate. It will handle a season or two of rigorous use. Stick to 1/2 oz. size lures or less, especially spinnerbaits.

Anything heavier requires pumping and reeling. Casting lures that are too heavy with too much force will tear up the reel to the point the line will travel out until it “hits a wall or snag” after which the lure will drop to water.

It is great for kids or anyone for that matter. The drag works well enough. The reel will handle a 5 lbs. to 8 lbs. fish with relative ease if you also know how to work the rod. It is well worth its price.

You would be hard pressed to convince me that another brand spincast reel is as good or better.

As usual it was delivered on time. The reel is very well made. It operates very smooth and quiet. Very easy to restring. Very good reel for the price. I would definitely recommend this reel for anyone looking for a quality item that will last for many fishing trips.

I’ve been using Daiwa Goldcast reels for decades and recommend the Goldcasts for light to medium freshwater use. The Goldcast reels haven’t changed since the 1980’s. So the reels don’t have as many ball bearings and the handles don’t feel as smooth as say, the Zebco Omegas.

But I own both brands of spincast reels, and my Zebco Omegas are collecting dust while the Daiwa Goldcast reels get used weekly. Unlike the Zebco Omega reels, Daiwa Goldcast reels feature rotating line pick-up pins for less line wear and abrasion.

Also, the Daiwas have noticeably smoother drag systems than all other spincast reels that I’ve used. So if you hook an occasional outsized catfish while trolling for crappie, with the Daiwa Goldcast reel’s smooth drag and rotating line pickup pin, you stand a decent chance of landing the big fish.

Both Daiwa Goldcast and Zebco Omega reels feature oscillating spools, so they cast farther than competing spincast reels. But the Daiwa’s oscillating spool has proven more reliable for me (I had to return two new Omegas that didn’t oscillate correctly).

Finally, all of the spincast reels that I’ve ever purchased came with inexpensive, low quality line from the factory. So for better overall satisfaction with any new spincast reel, respool your new reel with a highquality line.

From the time you open the box, you can tell that the Zebco Bullet is a high-quality reel. I have read reviews that say it is too heavy, but I do not see that as an issue at all. This is an all metal reel and has no sign of cheap flimsy plastic.

If a buyer wants lightweight equipment, they need to forego buying an all metal reel. Everything about the Zebco Bullet says quality, quality, quality. From the time you first take the front cover off you can tell that this is a precision-made piece of equipment.

The course threads on the front covers of lower quality reels are absent with the Bullet. The threads are fine and were clearly milled for a solid closure covering the line. There are no plastic pickup pins on the Bullet which are present even with the Zebco Omega 3 Pro reels, which I also love.

The Bullet has pickup bearings instead of pins which I am confident will prolong the life of the line, and the gripem all-weather handle knobs are comparable to those found on the highest quality baitcasting reels.

One of the chief complaints I have heard about spincast reels is the slow retrieval when using baits meant to speed through the water. The 5. 5:1 Gear Ratio and the ability to pick up 29. 6 of line with every handle revolution squelches that complaint.

The Bullet willburn a buzz bait through the water with speeds comparable to the fastest baitcasting reels without the worry of picking a backlash out when making a less than perfect cast. Ive always been one to want to see what makes things tick.

When I opened the back of the Bullet revealing the gears I was as pleased as I was with the front cover, the gripem handle knobs, and the pickup bearings. The gears are made of precision machined brass, theres nine ball bearings, and the continuous anti-reverse clutch nearly eliminates any thought of tangled line.

My only question about the Zebco Bullet is, whats not to like? I have looked forward to owning one of these reels and Im as pleased as I ever anticipated being now that I am fishing with one. Again, I love my Zebco Omega 3 Pro reels, but the Bullet takes spincasting reels to a whole new level.

I have fished with several guys who scoffed at my spincasting reels, but after they try my Bullet most of them have one question, where did you get that? They always seem to want one of their own. I would put my Bullet up against the accuracy, speed, and casting of any reel be it a baitcasting reel or a spinning reel.

Oh, one more question, how can they sell this reel for only around a hundred dollars?.

If you are looking for a heavy duty reel capable of handling larger inshore fish, this is it. Line twist is virtually eliminated and it makes for a carefree day of fishing. Two downsides, first is the weight.

Spincasts are heavyier by design, this is the heaviest reel Ive ever seen. Second, after landing a good size fish, your spool will tighten over the slack line and the first cast after the big fish will act line the line twisted.

This is typical for all spincasts. Just pull the line out and reel back in and youre good. No other complaints besides that. I bought two for my father when we went on a guided fishing trip. These reels have been fished for several weeks now and landed a 100 or so largemouth, sandbass, crappie and other fish between them.

The weights have been anywhere from 1lb to a 7. 1lb largemouth. These reels will do it all. 6lb mono to 25lb seagaur flourocarbon. Roller bearing line pickups with levelwind reeling. Hands down one of the best all around reels on the market.

Great beginner reel that allows people to fish like pros and will last a lifetime.

Most people here the name Zebco, and think of their first 202 or 33 combo they started with as a kid. Well, the there must be some new blood working over at Zebco, because they have gotten really serious about building reels.

First they gave us the Omegas ( pretty darn good), but now they have taken spincasting to a whole new level with the Bulllet! Fantastic casting and blazing fast retrieve. This is what you get from a baitcaster.

without the backlash. Beautifully engineered. you will wan to open it up just to see all of the precisely machined metal inside. I love this reel as well as any spinning or baitcaster I have ever owned.

Trust me. you will not be disappointed!!!!.

I purchased this particular type reel to use on my fly rod. I love to “pan-fish” (blue-gill, bream, crappie) which seem to avg 1/2 lb or better. The combination works great. The reel construction is very good on this product; the cheaper underspins I’ve tried – not-so-good.

The reason I gave it four stars is the drag could be better. Works well enough for the type fish I’m fishing for. As luck would have it, I hung an Asian carp I suspect. I say I suspect because the fish cleared the reel and broke the “braided” line, and I haven’t seen him yet.

I’ve fished the river a lot of years, and only “carp” have shown that strength. On the bright side, the fish broke the line and not the reel; that’s a plus. (If he had broken the reel, I would have bought another just like it.

) I fish for fun, and Abu Garcia products have always worked well for me. Good fish’n!.

This reel fills a hole in anyone’s tackle arsenal. It will allow you to handle very light weight presentations with heavier line like no other set up. Mated with a medium rod it allows you to pitch and skip unweighted plastics with ease.

No weight means the slowest of falls are possible. an absolute asset in shallow water. No worry operation and tangle free with a strong drag. One of the best dock shooting reels available.

I bought this reel for my wife who does not fish. She still has not fished with it. However, all my friends that don’t fish have. I let these first time fishermen use it and they have surprising results.

It’s easy to use and cast a long distance with minimal effort. It does not jam nor does the line tangle up inside. I recommend this reel to young fishermen and women or those individuals just starting out.

Excellent Reel! Over the years I have tried many Zebco’s and Shakespeare combos for the kids to fish with and this reel is by far the best performing one. Paired it with a 6′ rod that came with a Zebco 33 and it will cast twice as far with less effort than the Zebco 33.

Going to purchase another for my daughters Shakespeare “Lady Fish” rod as that reel broke after 4 months. Best bang for the buck in this category. Update 5/1/2020- In total I have purchased 4 of these reels (2 given as gifts).

I am uploading a few photos to show size as compares to a Red Shakespeare, Zebco 202, and Abu Garcia 476. The difference in performance is not even close, the Kastking outperforms all of them. Therefore we do not even take or use the others especially considering the Abu Garcia 476 and Zebco 202 have line catch issues in the reel where you have to have tension on the line for it to actually reel.

This reel was purchased to upgrade my son’s abu Garcia Ike dude spincast combo which has a very slow retrieve and terrible anti reverse mechanism. I had been looking for something at a good value but a Zebco 33 still has slow retrieve and a Zebco Bullet is $100.

The Brutus is named accordingly. it turned out to be much larger and heavier than I expected. My boy was super excited about it and says it will be just fine though. It’s a heavy duty spincast with extremely smooth retrieve thanks to the ball bearings and the anti reverse must be a one way bearing because it is instantaneous.

Overall I’m real pleased with the initial impression and look forward to testing it out on the water with my boy. I would be real interested in something similar to the Brutus but in a smaller typical spincast frame size.

I have several Kastking reels which i really like and was looking for a good spincast reel for my grandkids when they’re on the boat. Saw the Kastking Brutus and bought 5 just because they’re Kastking.

Received them very quickly and very impressed with their quality. Definitely happy with my purchase.

I wanted a sturdy spin cast reel for catfish on my bait casting rod as I still struggle a bit with my bat casting reel. Well the zebra 888 is a sturdy reel so far. It is much larger than I expected and fairly heavy but not overly heavy.

I think the drag is good and easy to adjust. The bite alert feature is useful. The only real cons so far is that the front cover is difficult to get back on straight once removed. Hopefully I will not need to remove it very often.

The reel comes with 25 lb mono that seems cheap and is not optimal to cast any distance but I replaced with a much thinner 20lb braid line that helped out much. I am looking forward to many years of use.

My wife has had this as her backup rod for 2 years. Her regular was suppose to be a pflueger president. She want to use this one more often because we seem to have less issues with it. It’s a decent closed face reel.

Much like the ever reliable regular 33, just anodized to be pink. Is it as good as mu Zebco Bullet-no, but that reel cost 100 dollar more. So far so good. Happy with this product the few times I personally have also used it.

I got two of these as the price was right. $9. 99 each. Pleasantly surprised at how well they perform. They crank just fine even when dirty and wet. The retrieve is too slow for spinners, but is good for spoons and jigs.

Of course you can use it for bait fishing, but I didn’t. Everything I caught on jigs, and realed those fish in just fine. Lots of panfish, and medium size bass. Even a gar. Setting the drag was tricky, but it held up well to lots of use and abuse.

I recommend this reel to anyone who is budget minded and looking for something easy to use and durable. Zebco definitely delivered good value with this reel.

I have really enjoyed using this type of Zebco reel for many years. This one is no exception. Light, compact, powerful for it’s size, and always ready to use. This reel casts so easily it almost becomes an afterthought.

No bird’s nests here, just quiet, consistent operation you can count on. This Zebco Triggerspin is an odds on favorite for all my lightweight fishing excursions.

These micro/ultralight reels are great fun with panfish/smaller fish. Just use them within their design limits, for me that’s fish roughly under 4 pounds. I’ve caught larger but had to net them and be careful.

I’ve broken micro/ultralight rods and damaged the drag with 5 pounders. This one is smooth and I hope as reliable as micro Zebocos I’ve had over the years. Get one and go have fun.

Worked fine until about the 4th time out. I hooked a nice trout it something seemed to slip in the reel and it stopped retrieving the line. Had to pull the line in using hand over hand method. While the trout was still hooked.

I finally got the fish in but no thanks to the reel. Went home and cleaned and greased the reel. Now it won’t cast the line out.

Good reel for limited use and novice fisherman wanting very light tackle. Very nice at this price point for my purpose. I use it for small stream fishing for small trout where the reel is rarely actually used to fight a fish or stress the reel.

Serious fishermen should consider a higher quality and price point reel if using the reel for other than a similar use I described. Perfect for the specific use of an ultra light rod-reel combo when fishing small water and fish.

Unlike other revues, my reel bail closes when starting to reel, but is stiff and requires effort. I do use another more robust reel with my ultralight pole when expecting more action than just cherry picking small pockets on a little stream where a high dollar reel is not of much use and subject to damage in thick brush and rocks.

I like daiwa reels but from my experiences the last 3 trips. The Drag is horrible. Not smooth. And its either to tight or to loose. Lost fish because of it. But its not expensive. But wished 30 bucks more and tried the qz 750.

Very happy with my purchase. Brings back old memories of when I fished a lot with a Diawa Ultralight Rod and Reel. I definatley recommed this reel.

Been fishing for a while now and decided this spring/summer mission is to see what I can catch on ultralite gear! Received this reel today spooled it up and ran to the lake, had a stellar time!, Cant go wrong with anything Daiwa that for sure !!.

This may be ultralight, but it is one tough reel. Caught 6 bass weighing over 3 pounds, biggest was 6 lbs, and reel performed excellently. The drag never faltered.
