18 Best Usb Powered Speakers (2022 Updated)

I found one of these in a skip bin. Had it repaired at EAV Morley and now use it for acoustic guitar and electric piano in church. Capacitors were faulty. At home in a small room the sound was boomy but in a bigger room with some tweaking of the horn and sub controls the sound is very natural and smooth.

Bluetooth also works well although it makes a loud beeping sound when you power on as some smaller Bluetooth speakers do. Actually the sound is better than my old JBL Eon speakers which had similar specs.

Haven’t used the wireless mic thing yet.

This powered speaker would be among the top of the range of budget powered speakers. It performed adequately for my needs as a foldback monitor with the signal source coming from a desktop mixer. However I would not recommend using your average dynamic microphone plugged in directly into this unit as there is not adequate gain to give a decent output.

Much better performance when used together with a separate mixer unit.

I have owned a plethora of Behringer speakers and I am generally a huge fan of their products. For some reason this one fell short. In comparison to the 300 Watt variety, this speaker doesn’t pack as much punch as it should if it is boasting 1000 Watts.

I owned and extensively used a pair of the older variety which were active and had on board 300 watts of power. Those old ones were BASSY, packed an enormous punch for the wattage. I never even needed a sub when I had that pair of 15’s.

With this newer model, the on board amp begins clipping almost immediately after turning it up half way. What is the use of a speaker that can’t even be turned up past 50% without risk of damage? On top of that the treble has massive volume compared to the low end.

I saw on the specs before purchase that the 1000 Watts are supposedly split with 700 to the woofer, 300 to the horn. Well. I’m not sure what went wrong, but this woofer sounds weak in my opinion. It doesn’t even have HALF that bass response that those older ones had, when the older ones were only rated at 300 Watts.

I’m very confused as to why this is, as the speaker seems to operating as intended. Adjusting the EQ balance on the back of the speaker, or on the mixer doesn’t help, as any adjustment to offer more bass into the mix has the speaker immediately showing the “clip” light again.

I have no idea why, but where I am normally more than satisfied with Behringer speakers, I am seriously let down by this one. I understand that in most circumstances, these speakers are intended to be paired with subs anyway.

That’s fine, I just hardly ever use my systems in large enough environments to require subs, and up until now, haven’t needed the extra push on the low end. Perhaps this is a way to force us to purchase more products? Making the low end inadequate? Who knows? I’m going to write completely positive reviews about all the great Behringer speakers I’ve had directly after finishing this one.

Unfortunately, this model is a fail in my opinion.

I have a 14″ HP Chromebook that boasts having 2 “B&O” speakers on each side of the keyboard. My expectations were high concerning this feature. Boy was I disappointed. I don’t really have to tell you, but even maxed out they sounded no better than any other Laptop, albeit the worst in all my experiences with 5 different laptops, the last being a 15.

6″, 2010 Acer Aspire, which was much louder, even if not stereo like this. So I looked at all the “Clip-on’s” available on Home Essentials Direct & it came down to a slightly higher rated USB-only speaker, & this one.

Even with a solid 4 star rating, my expectations were for much better sound, but nothing like what this does. Without the equalizer app it sounded outstanding, but lacked bass, of course. So I added an eq.

app for Chromebook & of the many choices of enhancements like setting it on “Bass boost” etc, I settled for “Small speakers. ” I maxed out the volume wheel on the speaker, as volume can be adjusted in a few different manners using the keyboard, mouse or source, & played a few of my favorite tunes.

All I can say is this little speaker is outstanding in each & every way. The sound isn’t big, the bass isn’t really there, but overall the sound quality for such a little device is much more than I could ever hope for, even if it was 3-4″ wider.

As for the 2 wires, don’t be fooled by the 1 wire, USB only choices out there. There’s a reason for the headphone jack wire, it produces true stereo sound (2. 0), & volume options which USB-only does not.

With USB alone you cannot use any other volume except your devices. With the headphone cord the volume choices are only limited to what else is available, as I mentioned earlier. As for mounting, I ran the 2 cord along the rear lid panel (I top-lid-positioned the speaker) & taped them neatly with good clear packing tape, & added a couple of small strips of 3M double sided tape under the front of the clamp to form a nice, solid installation on my very thin lid, only b/c that’s where I want it to stay & I reach/return it from a side table next to me many times a day.

It’s no biggie if I have to pull out the USB-1 to USB-C adapter needed to power this, as my USB-1 port is taken by my cordless mouse, & I only have 1-USB-1 port, 2 type “C” The Speaker has a USB-1, fyi, so if you need a smaller one you’ll need an adapter, usually type “1/C” if not all (As of this date).

It does stick out quite a bit, but that’s what I have, & my choice of configurations. Simply put, it has a full size USB plug. Mine is on the opposite side of the headphone jack, so keep that in mind when configuring your setup.

So, all that’s left is how long it lasts. Any problems will be updated here. Other than all that, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Looks great too & excellent quality materials. This should make most very happy.

I bought this speaker bar to replace the dead speakers on my portable. In that respect this speaker bar does an acceptable job. Sound is clear, max volume output is more than most people will need (sound is still clear at max output), and the bar is, indeed, quite portable.

It is not power hungry and works nicely off of my un-powered USB hub. On the down side, don’t expect quality sound (it is a low cost system after all). There is very little base and the speakers sound noticeably tinny when listening to regular conversations.

It’s not as bad when listening to music. The audio and USB cords are only 30 inches long, from the back of the bar to the plugs, which may be a bit tight on a 15″ laptops or larger, depending on where the audio jack is located.

And note that, although baring the same model number, the online description, provided on Best Buy’s website (as at 28 May 2021), didn’t match the device I bought. The one I bought was a bit bigger but otherwise was very similar.

This portable speaker that has a built-in clip to attach to a laptop, has a USB-A connector that needs to be plugged in to provide power to the amplifier, which it does do amplify the sound obtained through a 3.

5mm plug-in connector. The speaker is also furnished with it’s own case. There is also a version of this speaker which is both USB Power and Signal, so only one cable is required, but this one suits me fine.

The clip required two hands to operate, as it has a strong grip. I recommend this device.

I bought these for my retro gaming / computing rig. My Nintendo64 sounds great through these little speakers and they put out a surprisingly loud sound for their size. Obviously the bass range is going to be weak on small speakers with no subwoofer, but I was pleased with the overall range.

They didnt sound tinny or have a muffled sound. The volume range is good but its a touch inconvenient to control. The volume is controlled by a little thumb wheel nearer the plug than the speakers so if you plug them into a desktop PC, they would be a pain to adjust, especially if the device doesnt have its own volume settings.

Also, the cord is a little short. All in all though, if you want some small sized budget price speakers, these are an excellent choice.

Small. Cheap. Reasonable build quality. Okay fidelity. Loud enough. For: adding cheap decent audio to a computer monitor without speakers. Not for: enjoying high bit-rate, high fidelity audio streaming at loud volumes.

(You’ll need to spend a bit more than 10 buck for that. ) Home theater speakers these ain’t. These are powered by USB but audio signal comes from 3. 5mm AV out jack. Keep the speaker’s volume at max.

Control volume through your device or software. Decent low profile speakers for the money. Met my expectations.

So I wouldn’t hook them up to a big screen TV and expect much, but for laptop/desktop computer these are light years ahead of the standard internal speakers. These little guys pump out some great volume.

For music Ok, but if you are looking for something to use in the office. can’t beat this for the price. easy set-up. never go down. Would buy again!.

If you’re looking for speakers, these have you covered. Doing little research and looking to replace some great (if ancient) Logitech speakers, I grabbed these thinking that 80 watts should be “okay”.

It was more than okay, it was deafening. If you want to hear your music down the street, these are the speakers for you. Quality is nice too. Being able to plug in a set of headphones or even a microphone is nice, but it’s using the quickly-going-out-of-style 3.

5mm jack. However, that might be helpful if you’re plugging it in to a laptop or other device every so often. Good buy, but might be a bit much if you’re not looking to blast out your windows.

Absolutely amazing when used in the correct setup. First I’ll say I have it positioned perfectly in my room to maximize sound across my entire room. Second of all I am using FX Sound pro equilizer to maximize bass while also boosting mid and trebble (not to plug FX Sound.

but. absolutely no drowning of mid and highs with huge bass boost just took some tweaking). I am pushing this system to it’s absolute max for hours straight on a daily basis and it is taking every ounce I throw at it, no distortion and no decline in quality after months of this useage.

Very very loud and deep bass though it can’t really do the low-low frequencies, below 50hz or so ($80 y’all come on) it is highly impressive, it’s ability to have deep and loud bass while maintaining mid and treble with no drowning.

Though this is due to my EQ, the audio system is taking it amazingly all I can say is wow. easily taking on $200, $300 systems for a fraction of the price. Good job y’all.

These little speakers were surprisingly perfect. I have a dell computer (desktop) so knew they’d work fine with it (they’ll probably work with anything) i love that they’re slim, they have an on/off/volume up/down dial on the right side speaker, which is perfect for me because i wear hearing aids and often just use my hearing aids function that turns them into ear buds, but when i need outward volume these work perfectly (speakers stay off while using direct sound to my HA’s – simply unplug my HA’s and turn the speakers on).

The clarity of sound is also more than i thought they’d be for just simple speakers. I’d recommend these to anyone wanting a simple set of speakers that give decent sound without cluttering up desk space.

I like to make my own Dance Music Mixes and find that these speakers have an excellent sound. Nice Bass, Mid & Treble. The speakers do not give that tin can sound, no worries. These are my first usb powered speaker and was scepticle about what volume I would get from them.

The maximum volume is just right, loud enough to hear and bob your head to, yet not loud enough to disturb my neighbours too much if I’ve had a drink late and put the music on full blast. Due to the nice sound quality and also the limited maximum volume I find these are perfect for satisfying myself and not disturbing others who live in close proximity.

One last thing. I now have a spare plug socket :).

I did not expect ultra high end speakers, and these are perfectly adequate. They will not disappoint you, if you simply need quality sound at a good price. They do not have massive bass response, nor exceptionally high volume.

But, they are among the best speakers I’ve used for desktop computers. I am thrilled that I was able to purchase brand new desktop speakers that are well more than adequate for less than $15. They are very aesthetically pleasing as well.

Slim, good looking, and unobtrusive.

These speakers were better than my laptop speakers but even with the volume up all the way they just lack depth. I used to have Logitech laptop speakers and they were awesome but something happened and they started to rattle.

but were good for about 5 years. They don’t make them anymore. I bought these because they “clip” on top of my laptop screen and don’t take up deskspace.

I bought this item because I got sick of having to hold the laptop nearer to me or bend over so I could hear what was being mumbled or whispered when watching movies. It is a vast improvement and now I only have the volume at around 50% whereas without the speaker it would be maxed out and still I wouldn’t catch everything that was said.

I have tried it for listening to music from the web and it is perfectly acceptable quality for background sound but high fidelity it is not. There is some distortion around the high notes and lack of crisp definition and the lower ranges are ok but don’t expect gut thumping beats.

All in all, it is a handy addition to any laptop for listening to movies and youtubing etc. It clips up on top of the screen or stands alone on a separate base mount and it draws it’s power and audio input through a standard USB lead that comes already attached.

For the money, I think this is a great option and as a bonus, it has a 3-year guarantee.

The item was well packaged with attention to detail. It clips nicely onto the computer or sits horizontally or vertically on a nifty stand. The product looks of high quality build and excellent ergonomic design.

It is definitely lightweight and would easily fit into any computer bag. The sound quality is not mind blowing, but I wouldn’t expect this from a compact, lightweight speaker. That being said, the sound quality while lacking deep bass, is clear with low distortion at higher volume levels.

I would recommend this speaker to anyone looking to upgrade the performance of their laptop.

Good hi-fi speakers for the price but horrible as studio monitors if not properly calibrated, proven by professional studio monitor calibration system Sonarworks Reference 4. Don’t get me wrong, even monitors that cost several thousand will still color the sound, these speakers are still great value and I am only giving 3 stars because they color the sound way too much and therefore are completely useless as recording studio monitors as they stand.

These measurements (see image) were taken using 32 different measurement points by Sonarworks software using special calibrated mic that comes with it. This software is used to calibrate anything from small home studios to multi million dollar studios and it is very very accurate.

After calibration the sound that comes out of these speakers is awesome, proving that they CAN deliver a truly great sound if properly calibrated. Go ahead and buy these speakers if you are planning to calibrate them with Sonarworks that costs an additional $299.

You will spend $500 for the setup that will guarantee that sought-after flat sound, as opposed to spending $3-5K or more (sky is the limit) and still getting colored sound. No need to buy Yamahas or anything expensive.

Rockville will do just fine after you calibrate them.

These monitors are tremendous. They deliver excellent punchy bass, great highs and excellent full-bodied mids. I like to record and listen to music very loud, and these guys can handle whatever I throw at them without any distortion.

They are huge (which I love) heavy, and extremely well made. They really have become the jewel of my studio. I usually will record 4 separate guitar tracks on my songs, which can be difficult for some monitors to replicate accurately, but these guys spit out the song just the way I intended it to sound.

They are worth over $400, but because Rockville is factory direct, you can get them for half that. They are also extremely good looking. The solid wood front panels have a beautiful edge cut toward the top which really shows a touch of class.

Might have to get another pair of them to replace my home theatre system. VERY happy with my purchase.

I like how they are flat frequency. That really helps me as a music producer to produce more accurate sound from listening through thoes speakers. They obviously don’t sound the best for its size. you would expect more from a speaker that size.

But thats what you get when you buy a flat frequency speaker. They aren’t supposed to sound good, they are supposed to sound right/correct/accurate. Worth it as a producer expecially at that price!.

These speakers are USB-powered so require no external power source. While not 7-1 surround sound quality, they are more than adequate for average use. I use them on systems that have limited power sources so I don’t have to mess with a power strip (i.

e. a single wall plug with only two outlets).

Everything is very clear. Voices are very understandable. The volume is great too. Good for young people and the face that it is USB powered is a real plus

I’m very pleased with these speakers. They work great connected to my desktop. They don’t take up much space at all. They arrived very quickly.

The speakers are extremely easy to install. Have the computer turned off. Since these are USB speakers there is no little power supply for a wall plug. Simply plug the audio jack into the USB port which is in the back of the computer.

Or you can plug the speakers into a small round orifice in front of the computer for head phones. As mentioned above, the speakers are stereo, so placing one on each side of the computer screen will allow you to hear the stereo sound.

For example the bass speaker could be on the right side, the other on the left. The advantage of being able to hear your computer better than you did without the speakers is obvious. Given that there are so many music offerings, movies, travel programs etc.

, it becomes extremely pleasurable to listen to and watch programs which are now a joy to hear. ONN also makes wireless sound bars for use as an adjunct to TVs on which the sound is difficult to hear.

Many folks who are now in their retirement years have time to actually spend in front of the computer. Along with retirement years for some folks comes difficulty hearing. The answer to this dilemma of course is the ONN speakers! Use and enjoy!.

onn. USB Stereo Speakers with Volume/Bass controls with a 3. 6ft cable are the only speakers you will ever need. They are fantastic. My computer has never sounded better. Games are a joy on the my computer with them.

They are compact and lightweight and nothing cheap about there structure including the sound. I hoped for and received clear, stereo sound. Honestly, I have purchased three sets of speakers and none with the clarity as these speakers.

In the first place, you have a line connecting each speaker to the other that does not knot up or tangle. There is an additionally dual double line line on the speaker that controls the volume with a USB plug to fit into your USB outlet and the other with an input jack that does not tangle.

The connections are quick and simple from speakers to computer. Attach it to all your various types of computers and take them with you for portable sound. As the younger generation says – they are awesome.

But they are for all generations young and old. I can’t say enough about them except I am thrilled I selected them for my computer. Do yourself a favor and purchase a pair. You won’t be sorry. I highly recommend them.

Creative Pebble worked find for a few weeks but the sound quality started to degrade. There is some some sort of noise coming from the second speaker even though I don’t play music. This noise also degraded the sound quality.

I am thinking of buying another set of speakers. Please don’t buy these.

Now, take this pebble from my hand. Don’t expect Earth-shattering bass, but these do have a lot of clarity in their sound. They do get exceptionally loud for their size, of which is a bit bigger than you’d expect.

USB powered is mostly convenient. Would purchase again.

Nice looking speakers with solid build quality. Easily connected to my Dell PC. Powered by USB. Sound quality was very good. I don’t listen to loud music but I sense that the speakers can handle some base.

I needed a pair of digital speakers that were powered by USB and connected by USB. So, I found these on Office Depot’s web site and ordered them. As far as I can tell, they’re pretty good speakers for what appear to be an older model.

The box says “Vista ready” so they must be fairly older. The volume is softer than the analog speakers I used to use, but that’s the only drawback I can see to these units. Now, I did have an initial problem getting them to work.

After connecting them, Windows detected them and set them up, but they were not showing up and I was getting no sound, system wide. However, I just disconnected the USB cable and reconnected it; the speakers started working normally then.

So, you may need to do that initially to get these speakers to work. All in all, I’m satisfied with these. They fit the need I had for new speakers and for USB powered and connected devices. I am satisfied with the sound output and I bought a second set to have on hand for when these fail.

The speakers are nicely made and have great sound. For the price they are impossible to beat. They are not house shakers by any stretch of the imagination but are very good at low to moderate levels in am office home/office environment.

A USB A port on you computer is all that’s needed. If you have a USB C only you’d need an adapter that would cost more than the speakers. Look elsewhere if that’s the case.

I bought a USB-C monitor with terrible, weak built-in speakers and no audio output jack. Having to plug a 3. 5mm speaker cable directly into my MacBook would have ruined the One-Cable setup that I purchased the monitor for in the first place.

These speakers were the perfect solution. The monitor does have a built in hub with available USB type A inputs. Plug these little guys into one of those, adjust the MacBook settings to default to external USB speakers when available and I have the desktop setup I was looking for.

These speakers receive both power and audio inputs through a USB cable. No need for a 3. 5mm or bluetooth connection. They are by no standard powerful, or dynamic. They are however functional and allow me to hear Youtube Videos and my Video calls with no issues.

The built in monitor speakers couldn’t even do that. They are also smaller than you would expect, so the don’t require too much real estate on crowded desks. And they don’t really seem to have any equivalent products in the market competing with them.

Very please with the results.

Was looking for a speaker that could tuck under my monitor and plug in via USB to a docking station. This speaker has been perfect. Have had no issues with it. Mostly using it for video conferencing, so sound quality was not of primary concern.

The Adesso S4 provided instant sound for my desktop PC! However, that sound is super basic and ruined by constant hiss when playing any sound. The price is great, but I seriously regret this purchase and will be saving up for something else.

The specs for the USB sound chip is 16bit and a sample rate of 48khz, but the sound chip must be really low quality to sound this bad.

I didn’t find any defects after I unpacked it. It quickly plugged into my Dell Ultrasharp monitor. The sound is clear and deep for the size of the unit. It is a good compromise between the speaker that is in the computer and a separate pair of speakers.

Product uses a USB connection so no need to worry about finding the power cord or a place to plug it in like with some external speakers. Only drawback is that there is no volume control on the speakers themselves as in other Dell External Speakers I have owned.

That would make these a home run if it had that. The sound quality is very good with some engineered baffling to try and improve the sound and I believe it gives some depth to the sound that is being produced.

After buying a Katherine Jenkins cd and dvd and playing them on my pc I decided that my old speakers were not doing her justice so found these on eBay and after reading the excellent reviews purchased them.

On plugin them in everything that the reviewers said about them is true. The richness in sound quality is unbelievable for such compact speakers. A truly beautiful sound from my new cds/dvds and all of the hundreds of sound tracks stored on my ten year old pc.

I’m so pleased that I chose these speakers which have a volume and on off control on top of right hand speaker. I can hardly believe the beautiful rich sound that I’m hearing as I write this review!.

Newer devices may have more volume but at the cost of separate power and audio inputs. There should be space for both.

For the price, I suppose you can’t expect too much. Cosmetically, they look quite nice, especially with the novelty LED. I’m doubtful of the 30 watt claim, as I previously had been using a 20 bluetooth speaker (10 watts) which packed much more of a punch in comparison, greater audio output, greater clarity and a punchier, quality bass.

These are a bit flat, very little bass and the general audio quality isn’t so crisp with a very subtle distortion at the top end. Although, as stated, with the low price-point, it’s perhaps to be expected.

Notwithstanding the company has offered a replacement on receipt of the faulty unit, the item should be quality tested to ensure that the consumer doesn’t have the hassle of repackaging and returning it.

Such is the hassle to do that I’ve binned the product along with the original packaging. I would have expected that such a low cost item could have been replaced without the consumer going through the returns process.

Excellent quality sound for the price. Cable size fits the wide of the laptop. I like the colour spectrum changing while power on. Do not expect vibes in your windows 🙂
