All function work properly tracking is fast and precise no skipping but all my CDs are atleast good shape. ‘ But later on if the Audiophile bug ever bites you and you want to up the total sound performace you can easily Use the 600ne as a Digital transport and run the digital signal Toslink out to an outboard dac I have had 3 ‘budget’ outboard dacs used with with the 600ne 1st.

Schiit Modius 2nd Aune X8 majic dac. 3rd Soncoz laq1dx dac and with any of those 3 dacs, the combo will compete with New entry level players up $1k U. S + ‘with Redbook CD playback’. (Dacs used N this price range from around $200-320U.

Having researched the product online and deciding which unit to buy, I just happened to be passing a Richer Sounds shop so popped in to complete my research. The saleman was very helpful and confirmed my choice so I opted to buy straight away.

That the price was even better than I had already discovered was an added bonus. The unit was delivered to my home at no extra cost and at the time and date expected. Now that I have set up and used the CD player I am very pleased with the result.

The sound quality is much richer than the 25 year old Sony unit it replaced: the high notes are much brighter and the lower notes more rounded. Obviously technology has moved on but I was not expecting to hear such a big difference.

On a personal note I would prefer more contol at the front panel rather than only on the remote handset but it’s a small issue I will get used to. Highly recommended.

I have owned one of these excellent CD players for a few years now and decided rather than buy a new singled disc player I would get this one. Just like the one I have owned for years, this new Onkyo works superbly.

It fits well in the new TV/Entertainment stand I also just bought from BB. It was easy to hook up and fill with discs and hit “RANDOM” and settle back with an icy cold “non-adult beverage”! It also looks great! I cannot hear any difference unless a piece of equipment is so poorly made or defective and this Onkyo is not that.

It is well made and relatively “heafty”. I have a Sony 300 Disc player for about 10 years now and it too works great but when I get new CDs or just want to hear a favorite right away, this changer is my go to workhorse.

Highly recommended? Yup! How can anything built with such quality be anything but highly recommended? No complaints here! Trust me. I know what I’m doin’ when I’m reviewin’.

Right out of the box, this is an outstanding CD changer. I bought an Onkyo 5-CD changer (DX-C200 with Remote) in 1989 and it lasted 33 (!) years with constant play, all day, every day. The CD motor finally quit spinning.

I may have it refurbished. That unit back in 1989 cost me $350, so to have this new unit at the same price is a value! This new 6-disc CD changer is a game-changer. There is nothing comparable on the market.

It does have a large footprint, but it accommodates 6 discs! I have a healthy skepticism about modern manufacturing and circuitry compared with that of old. We’ll see how long it lasts, but connected to my vintage 1972 Marantz amp, it sounds crisp, clear, clean.

No worries thus far.

With the ease-of-use that comes along with streaming music, most people have forgotten thet CDs, tapes, and vinyl are still alive and sound way better. Smart speakers are nice, but nothing beats a good stereo, and there’s something about selecting what album you want to listen to and firing it up that makes the experience more special.

Having said that, and stepping off the soap box, we bought this CD changer because we listen to our rather large CD collection and wanted something to replace our aging single-disc Technics player. I had some doubts at first, but this Onkyo works very well and sounds terrific.

It’s proof that you can find a good-sounding CD changer without paying through the nose for it. Honestly, there’s nothing bad to say about it.

After lots of research I decided to purchase this amp as I like the look of it and its features as I had set myself a budget. I’m not disappointed. Bought online as part of a bundle with the equivalent cd player and Qacoustics 3020i speakers.

I am really impressed with the sound quality and listening to my cd collection has been a joy. If you are not able to spend a fortune but want a quality system I recommend this and Richer sounds. One downside however would be the lack of any interconnects.

This was not apparent on the website when I bought the system and only when delivered did the lack of an interconnect come to light as it is written on the box. After a phone call to Richer sounds this was rectified by the very helpful staff who ensured I received a quality connector next day.

Richer sounds please make it clear for non audiophiles like myself that cables etc need to be purchased separately (hence, only 4 stars, sorry). Thanks again Richer sounds.

Recently purchased Cambridge Audio package from Richer Sounds which included AXA35 amp, AXC35 CD player and Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers. Quality of amp and CD player is very good. It feels solid unlike some other makes and looks unfussy.

Controls are what you would expect, nothing fancy just practical. Wiring speakers to the amp was no problem, just remember to remove the dust caps from the banana sockets. At 35 watts per channel, its not going to break any records or unduly annoy the neighbours.

Paired with the Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers the clarity of sound is hard to fault. It does however suffer, in my opinion, from a lack of bass especially when at low volume. May be that’s just me? If you’re after a budget entry unit I couldn’t recommend this highly enough.

I recently bought a Cambridge Audio amp to replace an aged Technics amp that I’d thought was well past its best. I was so pleased with it that I couldn’t wait to upgrade my stop gap Denon CD player. I like my HiFi to match.

Both items look cool and understated by together they sound amazing. I’m no audiophile but I know that when I play a favourite album and I hear things I never knew were there. On all accounts this is a five star recommendation.

The only minor gripe is that the remote controls for both only work with their associated unit. I might be missing something but I can’t get the amp with all the CD buttons to work on the CD player. FOR: Looks, sound, value.

AGAINST: Remotes not interchangeable.

I bought this unit as a replacement for a mint condition (external) but old and wine damaged Technics CD Player. It fits well with my other Technics seperates but the sound quality is slightly “different” and the Amp has to be turned up higher to get a similar volume to my previous set up.

Access to playing a certain track via the buttons on the unit isn’t possible or as easy as my previous CD player but it is possible via the remote control. The drawer unit is very quiet and smooth and there is a slightly longer delay before the music starts compared to my previous player – which made me think I’d not pressed something for the first couple of times ! The USB input – I thought would be very useful but the readout on the display and moving/finding/playing tracks,I think is not very user friendly.

I knew it wasn’t i-pod compatible (which is a massive shame) but my old i-pod shuffle seemed to work via the USB slot. However it selected (very) random tracks (initially) and decided to play sometimes the same 1, 5, 2 ,4 (number of tracks – not track numbers) or part of a song before it switched off!? Surely it should play or not – not make it’s own rules up? From a Memory Stick, it plays fine but as i said navigating between albums and/or seperate files/songs is quite difficult.

It is fine if there is maybe just one album or you want to just play everything on the memory stick without trying to select something out of sequence. It should be useful for listening to downloaded music which could easily be transferred from a PC onto a USB stick/device.

It’s early days and I’m quite happy with the CD player in general, the (slightly different) sound, looks etc but navigating around anything via the USB appears to be a dark art!.

I have owned SACD players from McIntosh, Sony transports, Naim, Music Hall, Cambridge Audio, et al. ad nauseum. Most recently, I had a Rotel CD14 that crapped out (yes emphasis on “crap”) that died one week out of warranty–the fatal “NO DISC” coda came up.

it’s obviously the cheap transport/laser issue, but it’s not worth repairing at this price point. In any event, I needed a new player and I have long since dumped my SACD collection so I only needed dedicated CD.

Always peruse WWS (they’re local–I’m in the Philly area) and look to them first. You usually pay retail, but the service is worth the price. Unfortunately the $599 Marantz cd6007 of pre-covid supply chain abundance has been replaced by the $799 cd6007 of 2021 — I understand, we have inflation, and the top of the line AKM chip installed in these units were in short supply due to a factory fire.

Well, my fellow CD-philes, not to worry, this CD player is better than anything twice its price. It’s clear Marantz engineers put the $$$ in the guts of the unit, not the exterior. The dot matrix display is frugal at best and the use of the existing 5000-6000 series case is economical as well, but the sound and the clarity at $800 is ridiculous.

Blows the Rotel away, cleans the aging Naim’s butt and the Burr Brown/TI dac comparisons are inane. Glad I bought this–old school engineering. Saul Marantz would be proud of his Japanese offspring, the quality of the guts is what makes the music not a pretty exterior.

I’ve been considering replacing one of my older CD players, a Mission DCD7000 from 1986 for some time now but I’m mindful that the choice of CD players today is quite limited compared just a few years ago.

Careful consideration over the past few months kept bringing the Marantz 6007 to the top of my list of possible players. Marantz have had a reputation for several decades of making the best in class of CD players at this price point.

I’ve had this 6007 for a couple of weeks now and I’m delighted with the performance. This particular player is hooked up to the system in my office and is used with some of my older equipment and sound great, it beats my older player in every respect.

It has just the features you need with nothing superfluous plus it has a discrete headphone amplifier with a 6. 3mm Jack rather than the more common light weight 3. 5mm meaning I can plug in proper headphones.

The Marantz 6007 feels well built and may just be my final CD player! Richer Sounds shipped very quickly ( I live in the Highlands ) and offered the best price.

The Marantz ND8006 is a 4 plus Star in terms of the actual unit. It is solid, looks great, and from a feature-set perspective it was exactly what I was looking for. A good quality CD transport with network/streaming capabilities.

I wasn’t interested in having a unit that rips CDs (more effectively accomplished on a PC) and this unit is one of the few out there that accomplish the necessary tasks at a mid price range. However the HEOS streaming software from Marantz/Denon is a ONE STAR and probably less than that.

In order to stream TIDAL for increased bandwidth you have to go through HEOS. And HEOS sucks. The software is buggy and worse, the ability to easily shuffle and simply play tracks off of an album or from an artist is nearly impossible.

There are a lot of complaints about HEOS that I hadn’t read prior to purchasing this unit. While I think I would have purchased the Marantz anyway, it gives me real pause. It seems that Marantz/Denon has been pretty unresponsive in terms of providing needed updates to their software.

Not surprising really. They are an old school audio manufacturer. not a technology company.

I bought this unit to replace a Marantz CD 6005 player. After some shopping errors (a TEAC P650CD player that produced a harsh, metallic sound), I considered the Marantz CD6006 (a good player from what I read) and the ND8006.

But given the ability to stream music from multiple sources through the high end DAC in the ND8006, in addition to an excellent CD player, this magic box seemed to do it all in one unit. – What shall I say ? Setting it up was super easy (the instructions were easy to follow, even for non engineers), and the sound from any source I tested was outstanding.

Especially from the CD player, a transparent, detail-rich and warm sound (Marantz sound) that lets me enjoy my classic CD collection again. The wireless streaming from mobile Apple devices may not be at par with a CD, but still very good and super convenient.

I have not tried hard-wiring the ND8006 with the router yet, but chances are this will improve the streaming quality. Overall, given the quality of the CD player in this unit and the additional network capabilities, the price of the magic box is ok.

I would absolutely recommend this CD/Network player (esp if you have already a Marantz amplifier ).

I have never been happier with an audio component! Never a twinge of buyer’s remorse. The sound is rich and crisp, thanks to a high end DAC and precision transport system. The controls are intuitive with great positive feel.

Possibly the nicest remote control ever made. I see a few reviews around the net, concerning occasional skipping issues. Some owners write lengthy diatribes on complex and expensive isolation techniques.

Ignore the fools! Stack your heavy receiver on top of your CD player, JUST LIKE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO!! Place both on a heavy stable credenza, sideboard, vintage audio rack, Mission Oak table, etc. You will enjoy a skip free CD player and audio quality equal to an $800-$1000 component.

The Onkyo features a deluxe display, digital out(for DAC equipped receivers), headphone jack with volume knob, and selectable repeat function. Its sister, Pioneer badged, CD player lacks those deluxe features, and only offers analog out.

Pray that Onkyo makes more of these impeccable and affordable CD players. In the meantime, snap up the Pioneer PD10AE before they are all gone. Identical quality without some bells and whistles.

I honestly didn’t think a stand-alone CD player would sound much better than a DVD or Blu-Ray player. I bought this player on a whim and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. With this Onkyo unit at least, the dynamic range is better, the imaging is fantastic and there is a more 3-dimensional soundstage.

The specialized transport and careful isolation of the signal path would account for small bit of that but it’s the DAC (in this case a Wolfson) that I believe is responsible for much of the improvement.

It has certainly renewed my interest in listening to my CD’s, so much so that I have been buying new ones and only using my iPod for casual listening. Taking this one step further. I fail to understand all of the hoo-ha over the re-emergence of vinyl.

I have several hundred vinyl LP’s and I can not think of any circumstance where an LP could or does sound any better than it’s CD twin. I fully understand the limitations of CD’s as a digital music medium, namely the effect of the sampling frequency on the very highest frequencies.

However, in virtually every aspect, CD’s should sound superior and in real-life they do (IMHO). Music on LP’s is compressed (resulting in low dynamic range), frequency response is limited, cross-talk between the left and right channels is evident (they are mechanically connected) and the medium is flawed – a plastic disc that attracts dust.

I guess what I am suggesting is that if you really want to enjoy the best music listening experience, a good CD player (like this one), connected to some components of similar quality, will result in excellent sound quality without breaking the bank.

As far as this Onkyo unit goes, there is no need to pay any more for a CD player – this one is just fine.

This player sounds great with CD (connected analog and coax) and amazing with SACD. The internal DAC outperforms my preamp’s built in DAC. The Yamaha CD-S1000 has the build of an Abrams tank with the finesse of a Bentley.

Playing thru a Parasound A23+ and P6 combination with Martin Logan ESLs. SACD is superior to streaming thru Quobuz and CD seems to match it. My only complaint is it’s size. It dwarfs my amplifier and hangs off both the front and back of my audio rack.

It’s 33 lbs. too but that’s okay.

This is the best sounding CD player i have ever owned. It plays standard red book CDs in very high resolution. Above all this player is musical and draws really draws you in. The sound stage is wide and there is alot of air around musical instruments.

Build quality is excellent this is a very heavy machine. My only gripes have nothing to do with the sound quality, but I miss being able to turn the unit on with the remote that is not possible here, Also the player does not display how long the disc is after loading that can be annoying as I occasionally still record discs onto my Yamaha cassette deck.

It makes time matching difficult.

The Yamaha CD-S1000 Super Audio CD Player is a fantastic unit. Sound is very clear but not analytical. I can hear much more MUSIC using this Yamaha. It took 3 weeks to break in. The sound has been changing every day until it finalized.

The display is very minimalistic but I listen in PURE DIRECT mode so it’s OK for me. SA CDs have much more air if I compare with regular CD sound. Having hybrid CD it’s very easy to compare 2 layers.

However the player should be in STOP mode to change the layer. It also makes sense to replace AC cable – the unit comes with generic cable. ABT gave me a very good price. Strongly recommended but be ready to pay $$$.

Interesting, when I first fired up the new Rega Apollo, it would only play about 50% of my CD’s and BTW CD’s are not dead! Anyway, I contacted you folks immediately and I was assured that you guys would make it right by me sending it back.

I had a Rega Saturn before and it was flawless. What I learned is that this Apollo seems to need a 10 minute warm up perioid and it plays fine. I love the sound of this unit, of course it’s a Rega. Anyway, I need my player and that’s my story.

Anyone else stated same? As I am getting older I am needing a final reference set of speakers, ya know that final retirement set. I,ll be in touch. Ron.

All CD players do NOT sound alike. They do not deliver the same detail in the same manner. I compared my Apollo to both high end CD players and DAC/transports. Assuming you have speakers or headphones with great resolve, the Apollo delivers it with a bonus.

The midrange is a stand-out feature that is as analog-like in smoothness as analog. There is no stridency whatsoever. No harsh digital artifacts. I read that they upgraded the already excellent Apollo around 2018 with a better Wolfson DAC.

This player has steel-fisted dynamics. Solid, deep bass. And unblinking detail in the upper end that will reveal the quality of your source/ recording. The one thing about digital: it gets better every year or two.

This Apollo is hands down better than ultra high end CD players of just a few years ago. So what is it about the Apollo? Not just the Mac. the solidity of the transport, and the quality of the components in the signal path.

This player is absolutely outstanding and worth every cent. The remote could be better, but it works fine, and I don’t listen to the remote. I listen to the greatness coming out of the Apollo. No regrets, this is my LAST CD player.

Absolutely fantastic. I am using this unit as a CD transport using the Apollo’s digital coaxial output to my Prima Luna EVO-100 DAC. I was looking for stability and the Apollo is amazing! There is no vibration detectable when it is playing or reading – you can’t feel a thing.

I’ve never heard CDs sound so full or dynamic as with this pairing.

I bought this product and enjoyed its performance for a solid five days. Then the tray stopped closing correctly and the discs would not play. I gave up on it but recently had it repaired for $150. I can only hope it works again because the few times I actually used it I was impressed with its performance.

Even though the 538 is a value priced unit, the sound quality is amazing. I run it through an Outlaw Audio reciever to KEF speakers. Van Morrison has never sounded better…

We love the new hifi Stu and the team delivered. I think I am totally not their target audience at that price point (2-3k), and indeed my girlfriend dissed my underspend, but they provided great advice and I would return to them any day.

I have spent thousands of hours over the past 2. 5 years in an attempt to achieve high-end Hifi SQ, on a budget that is anything but. The CD S was the last piece of the puzzle and I could not be more pleased.

I have been a huge Yamaha fan, since My days in graduate school (84-86) when my first wife and I went into debt to purchase a Yamaha-Infinity based system displayed in the sound room of a local brick and mortar High-end Hifi Establishment located near Clemson U.

My current system consists of a ’93 Japanese manufactured Yamaha RX V1070 (Internal power amp section mated with a premium ’91 Adcom (and hopefully one day Yamaha as well) Preamp, a Yamaha A S701 Integrated, I pair of Infinity Kappa 5.

1s bookended by Twin Yamaha YST- SW315s, a pair of KEF Q150s, and a pair of Technics SB CR-33s. Somehow this diversity has resulted in great synergy. I also employ a Dell OptiPlex 7050, with Topping DAC (for streaming Tidal Masters-Hifi).

Am using Blue Jeans and Mogami 2497 Analog Connectors, Panga USB and Digital Coax, and Install Gear 10 AWG OFC speaker wires with Media bridge plugs. My listening area is approx. 120 SQ. Feet and has been extensively treated in order to capitalize Accoustically.

I realize that SQ can be highly subjective and subject to emotional-psychological factors. So, I can only share my personal experience regarding the system in general and this CD player. System far exceeds that of my High-end and High-end priced system from the 80s.

Source material and technology has come a long way. And, I was using an expensive German turntable in the 80’s, and I realize that is a unique experience. But, in rating the CD S300, my biggest and most pleasant surprise, came after learning that my Topping DAC was not compatible with this CD player.

This forced me to take time to listen to to this device in Pure Direct mode. Like listening to Records, the CD experience is something to be appreciated on it’s been own merits. No external DAC desired.

I have the same problem with my unit. It’s about 3 years old with little use. Another reviewer (Terry) wrote. “When the player is working its great I had mine for just under 2 years had to send it in for repair disk tray wouldn’t open at startup had to repeatedly hit open button to get tray to open.

Yamaha fixed it under warranty but as I Wright this review it’s doing same thing only 3 or 4 months after they fixed it. Obviously there’s a design flaw with this model,too bad because I love it when its operating properly.

I would recommend buying a different brand or model player”. Thanks for your review Terry. Also, the lettering on the remote is incredibly tiny. I read a review that mentioned that just before I bought my unit but it did not register at the time.

I need magnifying glasses whenever I use the remote. Also, the USB input works well with Apple phones but nothing else. I got around it by buying a wi-fi adapter. That is another story. The Yamaha CD player is a real letdown.

My Cambridge CD player – also bought from Richer Sounds (Of course! Where else?) – was starting to show its age. It was only when I found the receipt for it I realised I’d had it for 11 years! So, can’t complain.

Anyway, looking around on RS’s website for a replacement, I came across the Yamaha CD-S300, an appropriate companion for my Yamaha A-S500 amp, I thought, and an absolute snip at the price advertised.

Having read the reviews, professional and personal, I decided it was worth a punt – and am I ever so glad I made that decision! It really is a cracking machine. I’m pushing 70 so my ears might not be what they used to be, but even I can tell the difference between the sound I was getting from the Cambridge, and the sound I’m now getting from the Yamaha – maybe not exactly like night and day, but clearly a great improvement, especially when the Pure Direct button on the Yamaha is engaged.

Basses are cleaner, mid-range tones are richer, and trebles, like vocals, are so much more out there! And when I pop on my Senns, golly, it’s just another world. I have, over the years, acquired a great deal of audio gear from Richer Sounds – I wouldn’t go anywhere else – and the Yamaha CD-S300 has to be one of the best buys I’ve ever made.

I’m not an audiophile and don’t spend a fortune on kit, but anyone listening to the CD-S300 couldn’t fail to be impressed by it.

It’s a simple machine. It turns on and off via a mechanical button, as well as via the remote (which can get out of sync, but no big deal, just press the button twice if you need to). It plays CDs with a very simple display, and evidently plays the CD text, though I haven’t seen it yet.

There are three display options: track time passed, track time remaining, & disc time remaining, the latter of which I appreciate. It doesn’t start back up where it left off if it goes to sleep, which is mildly annoying but not enough for me to dock the rating.

It’s well built, and looks nice. “USB memory devices” is a bit of a vague term, so I just tested out plugging in my external HDD full of music into it, but got a big “UNSUPPORT” on the screen, which is a shame, but also no big deal — I got this primarily to play CDs and honestly playing digital files through a CD player via a USB dive seems like kind of a ridiculous thing to do and an almost completely unnecessary feature.

Is that just me? Maybe. The interface just doesn’t seem at all conducive to navigating larger collections of music. Now, it is expensive for a CD player — so it gets 4 stars! You could always pay more if you want too, but you could also get something a thrift store for ~$25 that will do the same thing — play CDs with a simple display in a standard component size.

I like that this one is new, dust & grime free, and only I have touched it, which is a luxury, I know.

I have had this CD player for about two weeks. It works as expected, and the music from audio CDs sounds great. I wish the remote had backlit buttons. I wish the text and graphic icons on the remote were larger as they are hard to read.

I wish Yamaha had used brighter and bigger printed text and graphic icons on the player as these are also hard to read. I wish I had better eyesight. But I, like many whom I suspect buy single disc audio CD players in 2022, am an older consumer.

I am happy to be able to play music from these shiny discs that I have and continue to collect.

I was looking for an affordable CD player as I did not necessarily continue to rip my CD to digital files. Ideally, I wanted a transport, but the prices were prohibitive. This Yamaha addressed all of my needs.

It is an excellent and affordable CD player, well built, easy to use and sounds great. In addition, there is an option to bypass the internal DAC and use an external DAC, which I have done, running it through my Cambridge Audio 200M.

Kudos to Yamaha for producing a CD player for those of us not wishing to spend a great deal more in order to enjoy playing our current CDs and contemplating buying new CDs (or enjoying those we get from the BBC Music magazine without having to rip them).

I was looking to replace a 17 year old Cambridge Audio Azure 560C that had developed an issue with the CD Drawer. I had always been happy the sound from this CD Player which more recently has been partnered with an Audio Cambridge Topaz SR10 Receiver and a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 speakers.

I had purchased a Marantz CD6005 a couple of years ago for my main HiFi and had been very happy with its’ sound and general performance, therefore short listed the Marantz CD6006 and CD6007 along with the Audiolab 6000CDT Transport.

After researching Reviews both by customers and What HiFi I decided to opt for the CD6006 as it would allow me to coonect my ipod Classic through it which the CD6007 wouldn’t. It arrived within 4 days of purchase and once set up I tried it with the Dire Straits Album, Brothers in Arms and.

wow! My hearing is not as good as it used to be, however, I noticed the difference in sound right away. Everything sounded crisper and that little bit clearer. I became more aware of individual instruments and the bass felt that little bit tighter.

A lot of the changes in the sound were quite subtle but made a big difference. The sound was smooth with no hint of harshness from the start and this has continued to develop whilst “running it in” over the past week.

Even on older, poorer recordings the improvement in sound quality was again noticable. Reading CDs and changing tracks using the Remote Control was as quick as I would expect from any CD Player and build quality appears to be very good.

I tried my ipod through the USB connection and again the sound was very good. In my opinion, the CD6006 UK Edition would make an excellent starting point for any budget HiFi system and I can see why it achieved What HiFi’s Best CD Player under £500 award in 2019.

I will certainly be upgrading my HiFi around it.

I bought a SonyUBP-800M2 Blueray DVD player hoping that I could bridge DVD and CD playback together. As a DVD player the Sony was brilliant. After approximately 2 months I felt that the music coming from the CD’s was just lacking a little sound stage and so phoned Tim my go to man at Richer Sounds Exeter.

I told Tim my thoughts and he told me to purchase a Marantz CD player. I had previously read up about both the Marantz CD6006 and the CD6007. I told Tim what I wanted from the CD player and he advised me to purchase the CD6006 which would suit my requirements and also save me some money.

The truth and honesty is a huge reason why I shop at Richer Sounds. The Marantz CD6006 UK Edition was easy to plug in to my Marantz 6007 amplifier. It looks great and with the two units being the same colour and size.

The CD tray feels solid and directly responsive when feeding the unit. The CD information is adequate but time remaining is not displayed and would be a bonus. The illumination is sufficient and thankfully doesn’t jump out at you.

An added bonus is the separate head phone volume control on the unit which is great for ear safety. The remote control for the CD player and the remote control for the amplifier are mostly interchangeable which is also a bonus.

Once read up and mastered programming playback is simple as well. There is also a USB port where one can play back music from the USB and an iPod. Data and WMA files etc are also able to be played back.

The unit has everything that the average person would require and more. Now for the best part; Music playback was just awsome. Stevie Nicks’s voice playing Gold Dust Woman sounded as if she was in my lounge it was so lifelike.

Even Eric Clapton tracks that were not played for ages just sounded alive and of course finger sounds when moving across the guitar and strings were evident. The spread of drum beats coming from certain Toto tracks ranging from symbols to base drums was so evident.

I can go on and on with how I now have so much “new music” in my lounge and if I had to buy this CD player again I most definately would. This unit is a great value for money purchase. The black Pixel PXHF40 hi-fi stand looks great.

It was easy to assemble by myself and the holes on the back support enables the “hiding away” of unsightly cables. It is perfect in size, serviceable but yet discreet. The Chord C-Line 2RCA-2RCA cable made sure that the signal from the Sony DVD player through to my TV was clear and strong.

I am extremely happy with my purchases and the unbelievable service from Tim where he knows much more about Hi-Fi than me but still imparts his knowledge and advice to others in a friendly manner without pushing for the highest sale possible.

Decided to replace my old but much loved Marantz CD63 mk 2 KI signature. That particular model was highly regarded and the only one that I auditioned at the time, that sounded warm, gave a richness to vocals and a balanced sound.

All others that I heard sounded ‘ thin ‘. A good look at reviews for similarly priced players of different makes, still kept me going back to the CD6006 UK, despite good reviews of the newer CD6007, which pointed to a more forward and brighter sound.

A ‘ blind ‘ purchase, not being able to hear it first. Certainly not disappointed. The CD6006 UK still delivers that lovely warmth and deep, extended bass of the KI and great soundstage. It also digs out more detail and clarity, leading edges of notes are more defined and crisper but never sounding bright.

Vocals are superbly warm, bass more tuneful and precise and drums have much more punch. For the price, an amazing CD player. Great build and feels solid, but most of all great sound. Once again, Marantz has worked wonders.

This was a replacement for an identical model I had for over 20 years, which failed. The unit is in excellent condition. No sign of wear and tear. So far this item is working fine. I have been using it a lot.

It occasionally will register only four of the five CD trays when all five discs are loaded, but when I turn it off and then back on again it has recovered and does play all the discs. Despite this problem, I am satisfied with my purchase.

I really missed not having a multi-disc CD player for many months. So this is a real treat for me to be up and running again and listening to my CD collection. Thanks.

I’ve bought over thirty of the CDP-CE275 and CDP-CE375. I also own a major audio repair company in Southern California. We fix these up and resell them. They work well and are easy to use, except for one failure.

There are five circular cut-outs in the carousel that the CDs sit in. Each cut-out is supposed to line up symmetrically under the disc clamp when the disc in question is told to play. The failure is that the cut-out won’t line up symmetrically—-it will stop slightly counterclockwise of correct alignment, as seen from the operator’s point of view.

The result is that some discs won’t be clamped correctly. When this happens, they will refuse to play. Usually, this malfunction can be repaired by replacing the little belt that turns the carousel around.

A new belt improves the timing. Unfortunately, to get to the belt, you need to remove the front panel so that you can unscrew the entire carousel assembly. The belt is under the carousel. That said. I intend to continue purchasing these because not much else goes wrong with them, and my customers are very satisfied with their performance.

Product is stellar, but no longer in production. Old unit being replaced provided enough parts to repair the new (to me) unit and restore its functionality. The technician was most impressed and waxed nostalgic about its performance.

No other CD changer unit has had as high a bang for the buck value.

This is My first standalone cd player. I read the manual and fortunately learned that this model can play data cds that have mp3’s on them. The sound quality is amazing and I’m very happy with this player.

This player was Well worth the money I paid. I hope this helps.

I resurrected my vintage Marantz stereo system and this Pioneer player is perfect. I have had 2 known brands of multi-change units in the past. They both had changer issues develop along the way that ended in complete failure.

So far I love the simplicity, sound quality and quiet operation of this single CD unit. There is a minor slight delay in opening the tray. But that’s probably better for the mechanism over time. Don’t see anything not to like! Pioneer quality audio has been around a long time so that also influenced my decision.

This unit is analog only which made it a perfect fit for my analog only input receiver. I like the single tray disk format having had a carousel unit and not really seeing the benefit and complexity of five disks for the way I like to listen to music.

The sound is an improvement over my previous player and it has been enjoyable re-discovering my cd’s. This player is easy to use and has the added benefit of a remote control which my previous player did not.

All and all, I’m very happy with the Pioneer CD Home Player.

First one won’t play any CDs out of the box, with the “Unsupported” message. I was aware this might be an issue from other reviews. This unit has been out since 2017, so you might have thought they would look into it.

Feel sorry for Richer Sounds, nearly didn’t both trying a second unit. Second one works great had it 3 weeks. The design is compact and looks impressive, looks well built. I wanted an upright standing unit so was limit choice to this.

The unit fits in with my 25 year old rig I bought from Richer Sound. Sound quality is excellent. Nice touch is AutoPlay on insert of CD. Downside would be yield quality, you may end with a none working unit.

The remote control is a little disappointing. Remote controls should be tactile, so should be usable with lookign at them. There are several buttons dedicated to the Denon PMA-50, which I don’t have.

When skipping tracks it would have been nice to display the track in a large font. The unit is Good, could easily have been excellent if they spent a bit of time refining it.

I have a 18 year old TEAC system where the CD player has slowly been dieing for 2 years, this looked the perfect replacement for the half width TEAC tower. I was very impressed with the service from Richer Sounds, I ordered it late on Saturday and it arrvied on Wednesday.

I set up the unit and played a couple of CD’s to test it, wonderful sound, deep and as one was the Runrig final concert in Sterling, it was just like beeing there again. You can imagine my suprise when I tried to use it next day and having inserted the CD and got the number of tracks to play and the time, only to hit the play button and it sat on track 1 for about 2 mins before coming up with the message’unsuported’.

This was very odd as it was the same CD that I had played the night before. Eventually I came up with the idea of unplugging the unit and try again, YES it worked as long as I didn’t turn of the unit again.

So Friday I phoned Richer Sounds and spoke with a very helpfull Kirt who agreed it wasn’t right and would start an exchange, while in conversation with Kirt he suggested I should try the Denon help line or see if there was a ‘factory reset button’.

Denon website is useless! – the phone number doesn’t exist, so I went for the DVD user manual and happened upon the ‘clear’ button saying it would clear any programmed lists or the last track played.

So I started it up again hit the play button, more clicking and clacking and no action so I hit the ‘clear’ button and off it went playing to its heart content, and has kept on doin it !!!! – love it !!.

I needed a decent CD player to bring my cd collection back to life and this fits the bill. Easy to set up and use, great sound. I’m using it without an amp – simply connecting it to the Aux input on my Bose SoundTouch speaker, so probably not getting the best out of it, but suits my needs well.

Two reasons it didn’t get 5 stars. As with other reviewers I have found some cds which don’t play on it – not clear why that is. Hopefully that won’t rule out too many of my discs! The biggest element missing for me though is the lack of an input for my headphones in the set up I have.

I wrongly assumed it would have a headphone socket built in so failed to properly check that. Still looking for an adapter or an alternative solution, but it doesn’t look hopeful. Excellent service from Richer Sounds, even in lockdown!.

Excellent sound, especially for the price. This is one of the least expensive players available today. I have had a number of CD players over the years and that is due to the fact that no matter who made them, they have all died a much too early death.

Apparently something degrades or fails in the laser pick ups, relegating all of them to the junk heap. Consequently my purchase of this Teac single disc player. It doesn’t look any different than the first machines I started out with in the early 1980’s when the entire CD thing began, but this one does offer to play from a USB stick and iPods, and it also offers to transfer CDs onto a USB stick in MP3, which I haven’t tried yet but I will be.

I was surprised at how expensive CD players have become, which flies in the face of how most electronic components have gone over the decades: Normally they start out expensive and then get cheaper with production increasing and that market gets saturated.

Perhaps digital download has taken so much market share that CD player manufacturers are pushing up the prices simply for the profit from what’s left of the music market. Regardless, this Teac sounds great and works great! The only things I wish were different were that it had a bigger display readout (tiny!) and the button labels are so small they’re ludicrous! Thank goodness the remote is well labeled and works well.

I noticed in doing this review that Newegg is out of stock, so if you want one of these you are going to need to hunt around. This was an excellent purchase and it may not be repeated.

I am overjoyed with the purchase of this CD player with the USB and IPod interface. I had been looking for a USB component that I could hook up to my stereo receiver. My receiver’s CD component malfunctioned, so now I needed a cd component to hookup to my receiver.

I searched the usual spots for audio components and this was the only CD component I found and to my delight it also has a usb/Ipod interface that I have been looking for, for a couple of years. I’ve already enjoyed my homemade and recorded music cds.

I also bought some 1 gig thumb drives that I used to compile copies of cds saved on my computer, and have add the additional tracks that were not included on the original cds. The sound is crisp and clean.

I highly recommend this device. I can now enjoy my music via vinyl CDs and thumb drives.

I used to connect my iPod with a 3. 5 mm to RCA cable to my receiver. sounds pretty good. But connect your iPod through this cd player’s USB input makes a big difference. This sends the iPod’s digital signal through the cd player instead of using the digital to analog converter (DAC) that’s in the iPod itself and sending the analog signal.

Maybe you wouldn’t notice if you had a very cheap receiver and speakers, I don’t know. I prefer to use an optical connection from the cd player to my receiver and use the DAC in my receiver, but the cd player itself is very good too.

Seems to me that using the cd player’s DAC and using analog connections leads to harsher highs than if I use a digital connection and use the DAC in my receiver. But that’s a personal preference and may depend on my receiver and speakers vs.

I bought my Marantz SA-10 CD player a year ago to replace a failing Ayon CD-3sx, which cost me over $10,000. The Ayon was tubed, and had a luscious, rich sound, but the machine was poorly made and, in the couple of years I had it, I had to send it back for repair 3 times.

No such issue with the Marantz. At first, though, I thought it sounded a bit thinner, as it’s not a tubed player, but the more I listened to it, the more involving the music became, and making a switch, just for fits and giggles, between it and my Ayon, I found the Ayon dark, bloated, and completely unengaging.

Besides, all of my other equipment is tubed, so this gives me more than enough warmth. It also (very importantly!) reads disks that causes other machines to falter, and playing an SACD on it is skin-prickling.

All in all, a great and spectacular machine.

I have used the SA10 for two months and find it well worth the cost. I purchased it to replace my failing OPPO. I wanted something that would pair well with my new B&W 802 D4’s run by a Krell amp and preamp.

The SA-10 more than fits the bill. It is incredibly transparent with great definition and an excellent sound stage. The downside? I am spending far too much time listening to and enjoying my large collection of CDs!.

I just upgraded from the Marantz SA 8005 to this SA10 and the difference in performance was stunning. The Sa 8005 was performing flawlessly in my system but after Marantz introduced this new model I kept thinking maybe I should upgrade.

I tried a number of other CD players over the past two years, but none sounded as good on SACDs as my 8005. Until now, that is. The SA 10 catapulted my system into another dimension of sound. This is one smooth sounding player with smooth operation to match.

I think it has the best remote control I’ve ever seen. It’s about time one these manufacturers got that right! All the functions I need are on the remote and they are easy to find. The SA 10 sounds amazing on SACDs, of course, but what really surprised me is how good my redbook CDs sounded.

Straight from the box, with hardly any warm up, the instruments sounded so real in 3D space it was breathtaking. Top end is crystal clear and with precise detail. The bass goes deeper than I thought any CD could.

Overall its simply more musical than any other CD player I’ve owned or heard before. SACD sound has also improved. Their sound gets near to the lush sound of my ClearAudio turntable set up – and that’s saying something.

Build quality is superb and better than any piece of audio gear I’ve ever owned. This was the biggest improvement I have heard in my system so far. Don’t argue with yourself, just get this player!.

This is a really nice, very high quality CD player. I like most everything about it except the CD-tray. It is very flimsy in construction. The manufacturer should improve this as it severely detracts from the item.

A great replacement for my 20-year-old Rotel RCC955. I thought it better to replace, rather than repair the old unit. Then I opened up the 955, found the problem, and now I have two Rotel CD players.

That’s 20 years of service for the old unit, and the new unit seems to be built with the same attention to detail. It doesn’t have HDCD circuitry, my only complaint.

A good CD player depends on the quality of its DAC and the CD14MkII does not disappoint. My CD collection has come alive as a result.

I’ve bought from Audologica before so had no hesitation in dealing with them again. Richard was most helpful in sourcing an ex display model of this CD player as there were delays with getting a brand new device.

He kept me informed with the progress of my order and DPD did their usual efficient job of delivering on time. And I should add that I’m very pleased with the NAD C568 which has a much improved sound compared with my ancient NADC542 – greater clarity and separation.

I bought this NAD to insert into my system already comprising the NAD C316 BEE V2 Amp, and Acoustic Energy AE 109 Speakers (Excellent, also bought from The Audio Tailor a few months ago). I am very impressed by the increased warmth, bass response, extended detail, clarity and sheer presence of the music from the C568 over the NAD C538 that it has replaced.

I now have an awesome well matched budget system that more than exceeds my expectations for the modest outlay. Once again, service from The Audio Tailor that can’t be faulted.

Typical NAD with minimalist cosmetics and features and excellent performance. The supplied RM 9 remote is full featured but takes a little time to get used to, especially navigating a MP-3 disc. Sound is excellent and disc handling flawless.

A variable output would be a welcome addition so as to balance levels with other components.

Makes CDs sound like SACDs! More detailed and natural. Easier to separate the instruments. I am enjoying revisiting my collection. Great value. Biggest upgrade sound improvement I have had.
