20 Best Utv Snow Blower (2022 Updated)

I’ve owned the Honda 724 track snow blower since 2015 and I’ve owned Honda snow blowers for 30+ years. I live north of Buffalo, NY where we get infamous “lake effect snow” most every year – I understand snow removal via snow blower.

Here’s my pro/con of the 724 pull start model Pro: -Heavy duty, well built – Honda quality -Parts are available for decades (I’ve owned Honda snow blowers for decades) -Easy start even without the electric start as long as you drain the gas and run the machine dry every year.

If you don’t drain the fuel and even if you use fuel stabilizer, the carb can gum up -There is a simple thumbscrew on the carb to drain gas at the end of the season and a fuel lever to turn the fuel on/off but I’ll always recommend draining the fuel tank and the carb.

-Tracks will climb & are powerful -Great engine. If you drain the fuel and refill with fresh fuel each year, the machine will start on the first or second pull every time -Will throw fluffy snow as far as Josh Allen can throw a football and it does well in heavy wet snow as well.

Use Teflon chute spray before a big snow to ensure the chute clears easily Con: -The electric chute control is a monumental problem with this machine. I put an hour meter on my 724 when it was new (Honda should add one) and the chute control died when the unit had EIGHT hours on it, just out of warranty time wise (of course).

It’s not a sealed switch – it’s a BAD design that seems purposely built to fail. I wish Honda would go back to the bullet proof crank handle chute. The electric chute is also slow to move – it’s irritating.

-The chute control switch itself is difficult to find as a part and with an inoperative chute, you’re screwed. The three local dealers within 30 miles didn’t have it in stock. I finally found the part online and they are $60 each – I bought two, one replacement and a spare.

-Missing an on/off switch for the headlight – Honda should add one. You don’t need the light in daytime, it’s just more burn time on the light -HEAVY machine, hard to maneuver and turn even with the track control handles -Shear pins everywhere – there are literally 8-10 different shear pins on this machine from the track drive to the auger, to the first and second stage augers.

You’ll spend $100 on the various shear pins. The auger shear bolts snap super easily but thankfully are pretty easy to change -No heated grips – that seems sort of petty but when it 10 degrees with 45mph winds, it’s not petty -Why does the auger gear case between the two augers NOT have a drain hole on the bottom to make gear oil fluid change simple? You have to remove the entire tranny cover and purchase a new gasket to change the auger gear oil.

Terrible engineering! This is a high quality machine with a great Honda engine that is plagued with a LOT of stupid quirks, bad engineering and easily overcome short comings. But when I pay $2600, I don’t expect to have to dump $200 into parts in the first 2 years.

The light switch, hour meter, shear pins and that stupid chute control come to mind. I wavered about recommending this machine but checked “yes”. It should be “sort of”. If you can find a well maintained older Honda with a mechanical chute, you will be better off.

I’m a long term Honda guy but I’m rethinking that stance as a I write this. Good luck – hope this review helps!.

Just bought one three days ago and tried it for 10 minutes at home the same day. Turning with this machine is nice and easy. No more labouring to get the wheels to engage or not. Nice change. Not very powerful but does throw snow a fair distance so I am happy.

The second day we had a bit of snow and took it out for 10 minutes and the electric chute would not come up anymore and was stuck down. Had to load it in the trailer and bring it to my Honda dealer and they ended up changing the switch.

Pretty sad to run into this issue with 20 minutes of total use. I don’t expect this from a $3200 Canadian dollars. Not impressed Honda.

First time Honda snowblower owner, have had Ariens, and Simplicity in the past. This machine mostly works well, as long as you aren’t moving compacted or wet snow. It throws light snow a country mile, handles well, starts on first pull, and is quiet and smooth.

It is just severely underpowered for heavy stuff. As soon as you get into anything difficult, it bogs down until you either have to stop moving, or just crawl along. There are a lot of things to love about it, the tracks, the turning, throwing of light snow, just can’t do hard work.

I am a 74 year old man (BUT in excellent shape). i live in Michigan in an area that doesn’t get huge amounts of snow. generally most is around 5-6″. Mostly though it is in the 2-3″ range. Previously i had (still working fine) a Toro 1800 whch is a plug in paddle type blower with 18″ width.

That was very reliable and have had it since 2005. The big issue of course is dragging the extension cord around which really slows you down. I considered a gas blower but the weight and storage was going to be a problem.

The EGO has had 5 days of use this year although not a huge amount of snow. I have a double wide+ drive way, two patios, and sidewalk. about 75′ long. plus I often do my two neighbors sidewalks. Taking EGOs advice I store the batteries indoors.

if you keep them in a cold environment your greatly reduce their run time. I used this at the same time e neighbors used their Toro gas blowers. It seemed I was tossing snow about the same distance as theirs and since I had the auger version it got the snow down to the pavement and through some ice.

In all the days I used it I was able to finish the job with out a recharge. still had two bars left on the display. I ran the speed control both at half speed and full speed to see how that used up battery charge.

Didn’t seem to make a huge difference. The last day it was a very wet snow with ice crusting. It got through the worst parts but the ice definitely created a challenge. not so much chewing and spitting it out.

but pushing the blower through the muck as it isn’t self powered. Overall it works really will but if you have snow in the feet and lots of it. you may want to get a larger machine. ,perhaps a 2 stage one.

Best part for me. once you remove the two batteries and fold the handle down it is pretty light and can easily fit in a small space around 2’x3′. My rear patio is about 20’x20′ and the only way to get to it without dealing with all the snow on the side of the house.

it taking it through the house. Since it is so light without the batteries it was no problem. A gas blower wouldn’t do that. Another thing I really like is the control to rotate the chute. easily moved while the blower is running and moving.

I did get some icing and one time in the wet snow the chute got clogged. After than I just get some spray WD-40 and spray the inside of the chute and auger mechanism. that way the snow won’t stick (trick I read on line about).

The Auger does get the snow all the way down to the pavement. something my old paddle type didn’t achieve constently. I did note that when going through icy snow it does tend to toss some of the ice back out from the auger in to the front of the machine and not all through the chute.

not a big deal though. The only place where it struggles is out in the street after a bunch of cars have gone by and packed the snow and ice firmly. Since it is relatively light I will do a couple of passes.

take the top layer off and than go back for the lower level. But my old paddle blower was useless in the same conditions. The plastic scrapper and 2 small rubber paddle blocs seem to be the only parts that will need relacement and are available as sacrificial parts.

but thus far they show no alarming wear. One thing you need to be aware of is sidewalk and driveway differences between two pavement elevations. If there is about a 1/2″ or so difference, the plastic scrapper will hang up on it since there aren’t wheels in the front.

I make a mental note of where those pavement differences are and make sure to not crash into them 😉 The only negative is the batteries which will need to be replace after a few years. and they are not cheap.

Follow the maintenance guidelines in the manual (charge after use in a warm room and top them off every 3 months during the warm seasons), they should last 3-4 years at least. For me all of the advantages I pointed out above.

plus no gas, oil, plugs, filters, mess, service and tune, and smell and minimal noise. or as in my old TORO dragging that extension cord around. make up for that added cost. Only remaining issue is how durable it is.

hopefully it will last as long and minimum maintenance as my old AC corded TORO.

Thankfully acquired this unit right before Winter Storm Landon Feb 2022. Previously had a used 2-stage gas snowblower that I couldn’t ever get to work when I needed it. So, I was done, done, done with a gas unit.

During this storm, I used the Ego 7 times in 2 days. Here’s my experience: The snow varied from light and fluffy to wet and heavy with heights from 3″ -12″ (in some areas the snow height covered the opening of the snow blower).

One charge with 2 fully charged batteries lasts about 30-45 min. (The unit can run on 1 battery, but I never tested it out. ) For me, the 30-45min is enough time to clear my 8-10 car driveway AND my sidewalk (and part of my neighbors’) from 1 neighbor’s driveway to the other neighbors driveway.

this is about 250-300 feet. The batteries take about 80 min to recharge on the included dual fast charger. The unit easily handles snow heights up to 8″. It does have the power to handle higher snow but it definitely works for it.

Obviously the harder it works the quicker the battery life runs out. For instance the heavy snow at the end of the driveway left by the street snowplows eats up battery quicker. The unit effortlessly collapses to a small area and is relatively easy to pick up.

The push start is a breeze. The chute rotation control is simple and genius! There is a lever by your right hand on the handle to control this. The chute angle control isn’t as impressive. even still it’s not bad.

You just have to reach down to the chute itself to adjust it. The LED lights, which I didn’t think I’d ever use, are bright and very useful in the dark. The variable speed control is helpful and helps extend battery life in lighter snow, but you need the high speed in heavy or high snow.

The snowblower cleans snow very well and does not leave much behind which does make it sensitive to uneven surfaces but because the unit is so light it is very easy to negotiate when it ‘gets stuck’ at uneven surfaces.

I DEFINITELY recommend the unit with the steel auger. I think this makes this unit even more powerful! Side note: my wife was very skeptical at first. She thought this was a novelty and a waste of $700.

However, after seeing it in action and even using it once, she is a total believer and fully endorses this snowblower! We HIGHLY recommend this snowblower! Plus, you won’t smell like gas after using it!.

I have used this snow blower twice now and have mixed feelings about its overall performance. Two major complaints that I have:1. The battery hatch does not seal well and definitely allowed a fair amount of snow to enter the battery compartment during use.

I can only assume that moisture on the batteries will eventually lead to a malfunction and at $350 for new batteries, I don’t think I could recommend this machine for fear that it will not hold up over time.

2. I purchased this unit in December 2021 and the discharge chute still moves on its own I am aware this has been a known problem since the debut of this snow blower and that I can call to get a kit to fix the problem.

However, I have to question why Ego would not have addressed this issue during production considering they have known about the issue for multiple years now. IMO this seems to convey a poor customer focus from the company when they could have fixed the problem at the source but instead force customers to call a service hotline and address the issue on their own Summary of uses: My first use was to clear about 3-5 inches of powdery snow.

The machine worked well. On a single charge with two 7. 5 ah batteries, it cleared my driveway (which probably fits 8 cars), my neighbors driveway (approximately holds 6 cars) and the sidewalk in front of both of our houses using a low speed and low auger setting.

My neighbor who has a gas snow blower complimented the machine for how quiet it was and how well it performed. Second use of the machine was during/ after recent blizzard that hit NJ. We received about a foot of snow in my area but drifts were probably closer to 20-24 inches in some areas and the machine definitely did not work as well here which, for the most part is understandable considering how much more snow there was.

In total I have three 7. 5 ah batteries. Using the first set of batteries I was able to clear my driveway but not the pile left by the snow plow. For the most part this was also done on low speed and auger setting.

When those batteries died, I dropped them in the dual charger and used the snow blower with a single 7. 5ah battery. The machine operated satisfactorily but battery did not last long at all, maybe 15 minutes.

After about two hours for the set of batteries to charge. I used them to finish the pile left by the plow and to clear my sidewalk. It was slightly frustrating to have to wait for the recharge but I think if I had a fourth battery I could have finished up in one continuous session.

During the time it took me to finish my entire driveway and sidewalks, my neighbor who has the gas snow blower was able to clear his entire property and another neighbors house while I was still waiting for my batteries to finish charging.

We decided on this unit to be prepared for our first snow season in Northern Colorado. Although moving from the North Shore of Chicago, our new CO neighbors have suggested that snowfall can often come with 7+ inches at a time.

As an all-female house, I need to be certain that my daughters will be able to have the driveway cleared so that they can get to school. When I mentioned the EGO snowblower as a possible option, my new neighbors assured me that I was making a good choice.

The unit was delivered by a reputable freight company who wheeled the unit into my garage due to the 266lb weight tag. Driver also removed the unit from the wood pallet so I could unbox in my garage.

Well-packaged and easy to maneuver to a clear spot by myself. Very excited to see if as easy to use and as dependable as our EGO leaf blower. My 16-year old daughter and I easily opened the box and used a box cutter to remove one side panel so that we could unbox and then wheel out the unit.

Inside, the unit was well-packaged and in perfect condition. Instruction manuals were provided but my daughter intuitively attached the blower arm to the base unit. We then wheeled the unit out of the box, with one of us holding the front operation panel until it could be secured to the base unit.

Batteries are substantial in size and are easily dropped into the front compartment. Once the blower unit, operation panel, and batteries were installed, the unit was operable. We easily turned it on, moved the blower unit side to side and adjusted the top sprayer up and down.

Reverse and forward functions are easy to switch back and forth, and compressing the handle triggers does not require excessive strength. Maneuvering the unit could be compared to steering a double-stroller or a floor sander.

We anticipate that it will be easy to use and are actually excited for our first snow season in Northern Colorado.

This is the best electric snowblower out there by far, but it doesn’t tick all the boxes. I am rating it 3 stars relative to my area (we get 3-4ft per day for a week), in lighter areas my concerns may not be valid.

As an FYI we run it with 2 10Ah batteries, with a 5Ah backup. The positives: -super intuitive to use -easy to start and stop -can chew through almost as much as the top of the line 2 stage Honda snowblower -it is light enough you can move it around pretty easily to navigate around tight spaces The negatives: -battery life is a load of crap, we have a 2 car driveway and during the big storm we run out of power at ~60% completion, even running on the Eco setting and not using power drive unless it gets stuck (others in my area do the same) -50′ throwing distance is a load of crap, it could barely get over an 11ft snow bank on each side of our driveway -during the 2nd storm it ever experienced the chute rotating handle got stuck in place, but the chute could still rotate – so I have had to rotate by hand.

It’s clear that something inside the handle mechanism needs to be fixed to make the cables tight again, but it clearly has a design flaw as it should have issues like this so early on. It made it extremely difficult to clear our driveway with; the chute stuck to the right, 4″/h of snow, and squirrelly winds up to 40mph.

-customer service needs an overhaul, the phone wait times are so long that you need to dedicate a couple hours to get through and chat the problem out with them. They spend what feels like forever either helping you register your product, or confirming you have a registered product before they even ask you what is wrong (5+mins).

And then they walk through their troubleshoot guide asking you questions you’ve already answered. They need to spend more time thinking about the calls from the customers stand point, I am calling with frustration, I want to get my issue fixed and off the phone, not listen while your system is navigated.

-servicing for repairs, we get snowed in and not plowed for up to 4 days where we are, if we have an issue I need someone to help me trouble shoot and fix over the phone and send me replacement parts and a little step by step on how to do it correctly.

Otherwise I can’t even clear my driveway to be able to load the snowblower onto my truck and get it to the 1 location within a 100 miles that will service it. -I am still waiting for a fix from customer service for the chute issue (2-3 weeks now, but over the Christmas break) If you guys came out with a 3 stage snowblower that ran of 3-4 batteries and could ACTUALLY throw over a 20ft vertical snow bank I would but it in a heart beat.

You should have taken the Tesla approach for the snowblower, don’t match the industry power and function, build the best you can and blow all gas products out of the water. The instant torque and motor options out there for an electric snowblower would make it a gas killer if designed right.

But here, electric snowblowers are laughed at compared to 2 stage Hondas, even if they’re 20 years old.

Just got my snow blower this past week and had a snowstorm on Friday night. It was only 1-1/2″, but I had to try it out! Several peoples’ reviews mention that the chute rotator is almost impossible to turn.

Well, it’s a little hard, but you can turn it. I found that while running the blower, it turned easily. I thought the blower worked well and I got 40 mins out of 2 4Ah batteries. I used the blower on sidewalks, asphalt driveway for about 25′, as well as on grass and gravel.

The latter 2 are the most difficult. On grass, you have to lift up the front end, so the skidder doesn’t dig into the grass. It will definitely cut your grass, but it doesn’t gouge it. When you lift up the blower to clear the grass, you don’t get as close a “shave”, but the remaining snow will melt easily.

On gravel, WORX says to make an adjustment, but they don’t explain how. I would find that a hassle in the “field” when you have a mix of surfaces to work and the blower is covered with snow. It’s easier to lift up the front end.

On concrete, the skidder will catch the expansion joints and you have to lift the front end to get passed them. If I were dealing with all flat surfaces, I probably could have gotten an hour’s run time and it wouldn’t have been as strenuous.

Otherwise, the blower works very well. I have been on WORX’s 20V platform for a number of years. When I looked at snow blowers, it made the most sense to get a WORX blower because of the Power Share with its 20V batteries.

Over the years, I have bought extra 20V batteries and now have 8: 4 of the 4Ah, 2 of the 5Ah, and 2 of the 6Ah. If you already have some WORX 20V tools, it makes no sense to buy another brand of snow blower or any other brand of tool because you will end up with multiple different brands of chargers and batteries, none of which is compatible with the others.

I was able to do much more with the blower than with a shovel in less time and with less strain. I use a tractor with front end loader to plow the rest of my half mile driveway, but this will definitely tear up the grass.

Being almost 70, I always look for the proper tool for the job! 🙂 Viewing some of the vids of WORX’s leaf blower, I realized I could use it to blow off a light snow on my car, truck, and decks. Never thought of that! :).

I own several (>6!) Worx tools, all for outdoor maintenance. I gave been avoiding buying a snow blower for many years but I decided to take the plunge with this Worx product. It wasn’t strenuous putting it together though it is bulky to lift out of shipping carton.

Help would have made it easier, LOL! Assembly was straight forward. Make note that there are 2 sets of metal poles attaching to snow blower. The first bare attachment is where you start the assembly, then the power control / handle is mounted to the the first set.

The auxiliary handle for lifting was broken, but I contacted customer service and sent a photo of that piece. A replacement was sent promptly and at no cost. I’ve used the blower once, as of this writing and it worked like a champ! I’m very happy with this snow blower.

The directional chute was originally stiff to turn, but with gentle, firm pressure, it worked fine! Remember, this is not self propelled but it is easy to push forward. It is not heavy. When I hit icy spots, I could just tilt the machine up and pass over the obstacle.

I even cleared the new snow on my ground paths, to the bird feeders and the dog potty area. Instead of spending a good, overheated hour clearing these areas I was done in 15 minutes! And, ready to go play in the snow! The batteries still had 2 out of 3 charge points remaining which I think is great, especially considering all the labor it saved me! Area cleared= front of garage=26’x8’ (plow cannot get close to garage door opening), edge of drive to help plow driver see the edges (4’x30’) and private sidewalk (7’x50’).

So nice to have basically bare concrete to welcome our guests and delivery people. Give it a try!.

I bought the snowblower last January 3rd 2022 and recieved it on the January 7th. We put it to its first test on January 9th when we had snow storm here in Virginia. I was VERY disappointed with it since the snow blower did not even last for 5 minutes.

After making my first pass on our driveway the machine started to stall. I checked my batteries and they were both fully charged. I machine would start but will stall again and again once it touches the snow.

Take note the snow that we had was not heavy, it only accumulated approx 2-3 inches. I was disappointed since I have several Worx tools and just recently purchased lawn mower and power washer last Blackfriday 2021.

I hope they are not as defective as the snowblower. I ended up returning the snowblower. Part of the reason I decided to return the snowblower was after I reached out to their customer support. I was told to keep the machine inside the house or well temperature place.

And the agent told me that the machine may not able to withstand the cold temperature. I don’t think that was a smart resolution considering this machine are meant to be use for snow which is COLD.

I got about 12 years out of a cheapy snow blower that I recently gave away. it was repairable, but I didn’t want to repair it as I’ve been trying to find an excuse for about 7 years to get a Honda. This latest design has been in market for about 6 years.

there were some minor design flaws with some components at launch that Honda engineering has since corrected. Overall quality of the current HSS models is as good as the HS models that are still in use after 20-30 years, but with enhanced technology features to make use even easier.

I spent the little extra to get the auto start. I’ll be honest in saying my starting had issues early on. After a little research I found out I had to make a couple turns of a nut on the choke/throttle cable to make the choke setting work flawlessly, which it now does.

I guess there may have been some cable stretch in the new machine? I recommend auto start. We just got 10″ of snow 2 nights ago and there were no issues for this machine. Man, can it throw snow. There was over 15″ of very heavy thick end of driveway piles, and while the engine started to bog down with a deep growl, it just sliced through the pile and did not ride up.

Versus my prior machine, I love how maneuverable this one is with the steering handles, or pull them both to easily maneuver by hand. I actually used on its first plowing before sun-up and will say the light does a decent job of illuminating the work area.

If you have the chute all the way to the right there is some snow platter that will crust across the light. The hydrostatic transmission takes some getting used to, but now after 4 uses I’m getting very comfortable with it and definitely helps speed up the plowing process.

The auto-start is great. The wheels are big with great grip. The joystick electric chute control also takes some getting used to but works well. This is my first blower where the drive lever will lock down the auger lever so you have one free hand to operate all the other controls while moving.

Once again, it takes some getting used to, but with practice really speeds up the blowing process. I’m fully expecting to be using this blower for decades.

I was waiting for a snow like the 10″ to 12″ we had since I purchased this snowblower ( Honda HSS724AAWD). I was impressed with the handling and snow throw capabilities. I could control it with one hand on the handle and the other was free to adjust the speed or chute direction.

The only time it whined was when I pushed it in the apron wherebthe snow plow packed it up with over 18″ of snow. After moving it in reverse and back into the packed snow it did the job. I realized after was done using it that the machine did all the work.

Usuallynwhen using a snow blower your back hurts from helping push and pulling it in different direction. Not the case with this machine. It was worth every penny spent for the “Cadillac” of snow machines.

I’ve had this snow blower for 3 seasons now, and it is useless in wet snow. Clogs within minutes and keeps clogging. I spend more time unclogging the machine than I do throwing snow. When I move up to New Hampshire I was excited to get a Honda snow blower to replace my no-name machine that broke constantly.

Boy was I disappointed. First wet, heavy snowfall and my $2700 Honda clogged immediately, and kept clogging, while my next-door neighbor with his $700 Home Depot special cleared his driveway with no issues.

I was mad and embarrassed at what I paid for this Honda which was outperformed by the big box discount brand at 1/4 the price. If you are considering this snow blower, I’ll sell you mine for a good price.

I bought this machine in 11/15 and have used it for 3 1/2 seasons. I added an hour meter when the machine was delivered and I currently have 11. 9 hours of use clocked – not much really. The winters have been mild lately.

You can find my original review under the same name “Tommy” from Amherst, NY that I wrote in 2016. One problem has appeared in 3 seasons. The motorized chute rotation left to right control became non-functional today while I was using the machine after a 12 inch snowfall (I live north of Buffalo, NY – we know snow!).

The top diverter/flipper still worked. There are no fuses that I saw in the wiring diagram so it was either the joystick or the motor. The joystick is far easier to access than the motor so I followed the service manual instructions (required resource – purchase it with the machine) for continuity checks.

I went to unplug the switch connector and test for power to L/R rotation continuity. Typically these connectors have a tab that needs to be disengaged with a small screwdriver. to pull them apart. My connector just came apart so I pushed it back together and heard a “click”.

I fired up the machine and the problem was fixed. Someone missed that at the factory or dealer but I’m happy it wasn’t the switch or motor. That said, I’m NOT a fan of the motorized chute, hence the 1 star deduction “overall”, “ease of use” and “feature”.

The power chute is slow to turn L/R relative to a hand crank, prone to problems like i described above and it introduces a litany of potential long term service issues down the road because you now have a joystick, wiring harness, motor and power flipper assembly to screw around with that can all potentially fail always at the worst time like today.

Other deductions are for the difficulty maneuvering the machine, even with the power track controls. This machine is heavy and beastly – it’s a workout even for a 220 pound life long weightlifter. It also pops shear pins far too easily but I guess that’s required to protect the transmission.

Bottom line is that this is still a great machine but I think Honda out thought themselves with the power rotating chute. Maybe it’s a “keeping up with the competition” mindset but for me, the hand crank on my old 928 worked fine and was bulletproof.

I used my snowblower for the first time today (12/17/20) in NJ with six inches of snow on the driveway. Using the snowblower at anything even remotely above half speed would bog down the machine down o the point it wanted to stall.

My wife was using our one stager and was moving faster than I was and she was taking a full width on her machine with zero problems. The machine had brand new gas in and the engine was operating perfectly.

When engaging the tracks a slight dip in power was noticed and as I moved down the driveway (its perfectly flat concrete driveway) my wife was on her return pass when I was only halfway down the driveway.

I can’t believe this machine which performs so poorly. I have to go at a snails pace well below half speed or the machine would bog down. The machine is built beautifully and the features are nice but it just doesn’t perform I literally am in total buyers remorse.

I have zero confidence this machine will be able to handle anything above the six inches we had on our driveway and the whole point of buying this two stage was to have a fail safe if my one stager couldn’t handle a larger storm.

I used a one stager to handle the NJ 3ft blizzard we had a few years ago and it made it through it to my amazement. My wife wanted me to buy a 2nd one and I said nope, I’m getting the best I’m getting a Honda and I’ve never been so disappointed in a product in my life.

I literally feel like I wasted my money.

Purchased this machine online and picked up same day. Replacing 2009 machine same make, model and size. Brought it home, topped up oil, gas, fired it up and it blew oil all over the bricks of my home and interlock pavers! Neither of the two oil reservoir plugs had been installed.

Spoke to customer service, escalated and promised a prompt response by manager. Didn’t call. I chased down someone else the next day. They hunted up an oil plug and so I made the trip in again. Wrong plug and only one provided when two were required.

This assembly oversight gave me concern for what else could be wrong with this machine since this apparently was a mystery to all at CTC. Five days later and several more calls and emails and no resolution other than “manager will be in contact”.

That plus the clear reduction in build quality and engine size compared to the older model I was replacing resulted in me returning the machine for a refund. I purchased an Arien Deluxe 28 SHO from a dealer to make sure I was getting a better quality machine that was set up by technicians before I took it home.

100% ready to go, oil, gas, skid plates adjusted. Still no word from Canadian Tire about damage to my bricks and driveway.

Bought for myself before Christmas to replace my well used 11 year old Husky. Bought because 1, it was in stock, 2, Troy-Bilt is a great brand, 3, this one had powerful engine and features power steering, hand warmers, and electric start, and 4, and most importantly bought interest-free with my triangle Mastercard.

Two years from now it will be all mine. Curbside pickup was simple, safe and convenient. Used it three times already and you can really notice the machines ability to handle heavy snow falls, wet snow and the hard packed present the snow plow leaves at the end of your driveway.

Alot easier to aim where the snow gets blown with the longer shoot that also reduces blowback. Six speeds makes clearing driveway even faster. Tackled 40 cm blizzard the other day easily. Hopefully keeps performing like this and lasts as long as my old one.

Just got this machine and can’t complain one iota about its ability to throw snow. Nice and determined- and FAST! I don’t use it past 2nd gear. My only concern is the 2-way chute control. While using the machine, the chute deflector joystick won’t stay in position- and the result is sky-high snow discharge after only a few seconds.

I tightened the crank all the way on the chute deflector, but it still tilts up – along with the joystick/lever. Clearly, this isn’t a problem with the chute, but the inability of the lever to lock in place.

Any advice on a fix for this would be most appreciated. Not a cheap machine, and I’m hoping this isn’t a quality issue- as I see other models offer a much smarter lever control that notches into place.

I’m very happy with the Ariens Deluxe 28, with it’s large tires, metal discharge chute, easy turning drive system, and locking auger engagement. It starts easily and runs smoothly; I have used other brands where the engine surges due to poor carburetion.

The 28” width is perfect for me; large enough do a 4’ walk in 2 passes but light enough that I can easily maneuver it without engaging the drive – which can speed things up in tight areas. Good set up from FF, no loose fasteners and everything worked properly right out of the box.

Overall great quality, made right here in the USA.

Absolute beast! The snow blower comes fully assembled and with oil already filled. After researching other snowblowers I was hesitant to the assisted turning feature included, however after using it a few times that as been actually quite nice.

You can really tell this thing is solid by the lack of plastic throughout. Don’t get caught up on other brands and their gimmicky features. There is a reason so many people circle back to Ariens. This snowblower has more than enough power to cut through anything the Midwest can throw at us.

You can put the snow anywhere, just remember that snow weighs a lot when deciding if you should relocate the snow from your driveway to your neighbor’s roof. Overall I absolutely love this beast and keep refreshing the weather forecast now in hopes of an incoming snowstorm!.

I’ve had this snowblower for the past three years. I have a long driveway that runs between two houses in an old residential neighborhood, so clearing my driveway involves blowing the snow into the back yard for a large portion of the distance – typically, I make a first pass of about 30 feet where I blow the snow from the driveway section between the houses to the back yard section of the driveway, then take a second pass on the driveway behind the house to blow it into the yard – total time to clear about 60 minutes.

This second pass puts a heavy load on the snowblower, because it’s blowing double the snow. The good news is that the blower is relatively lightweight and easy to move compared to others I’ve used; it’s started and run reliably every time, and the mechanism for turning the snowblower works well.

The bad news is that the blower is back-heavy, so you have to lift up on the handles to keep the front of the blower firmly on the ground – makes clearing the snow pretty tiring work. The discharge chute “drifts” as you work, gradually turning itself due to the vibration of the engine, so you have to constantly stop and re-aim it.

The “headlight” creates glare in the bottom of your vision without seeming to illuminate anything useful. Finally, first gear is WAY too fast; if you’re moving more than four inches of snow you have to constantly start-stop-start-stop the traction drive to avoid bogging the blower down.

Therefore, I can say that while I recommend this blower for most people who will only have to blow snow off to the side of their driveways, I can’t recommend it if you have a heavier workload like mine.

“In-line 2-Stage” in the marking write-up online, really means a single stage snow blower. My bad for not catching that, but that’s really deceptive marketing. We all know what a 2-Stage snow blower is, and I don’t think they should use the term 2-Stage for any single stage snow blower to confuse the issue, and try to weasel out of it by adding the modifier “inline”.

Toro should be better than this. I like the larger engine, and I really like the personal pace drive and the quick stick control of the chute direction. Since there’s no personal pace drive on a real two-stage, I’d still recommend this model for anything but the largest of consumer jobs.

The personal pace drive can be a bit jerky if you’re just moving it to another place without running the auger, like to start clearing a new area, but when it’s actually throwing snow it works really well.

If it’s just above freezing, say 34-35 deg F, and the snow is VERY wet and heavy, you do miss the 2nd stage, and the bottom of the chute tends to clog very easily with wet snow. You’ll notice snow or slush being thrown off the front of the auger and not out the chute, and I’ve had to stop several times and use a shovel handle to clear the bottom of the chute to get it working again.

If the snow is not really wet or heavy, it throws pretty well, as long as you don’t overload it or try to drive it too fast to clear itself out. The easy clogging in very wet snow, and the deceptive marking on “2-Stage” is why I knocked off one star.

Overall, it’s starting off working well for a new snow blower, and I’d recommend it. It was easy to assemble out of the box. I tested the electric start, and it worked great, but after so many years of pull starting everything, I never get out an extension cord to use that, and I only pull start it.

The pull start works OK, and the engine, like most Toro products I’ve ever bought, starts up well enough to not really need the electric starter for me. I think the diameter of the pully it’s working on is a big too large, so it’s easier to pull the starter rope with the larger engine, but slower cranking than a smaller diameter pulley would be.

The same pull speed I use on older snow blowers, and my current Toro lawn mower doesn’t get it started, it just takes a quicker pull on the rope to turn it over a bit faster for it to catch. Once you know to really pull it quickly, it starts on the first pull every time.

For me, it’s so easy to pull, I’d appreciate a smaller pulley. A little bit more effort on a smaller pully would be preferable to feeling like I’m trying to throw a fast ball to get this one spinning quick enough to catch.

I also really like the oil drain tube out the back of the engine. You can pull the drain plug, and push the rear handle down to slant the engine back, and get the oil drained right out the back of the engine via a tube, and right into your drain pan.

No crawling, searching underneath, or strange tipping sideways required, which would be tough on a heavier device like this one. One thing that’s not easily visible, and I may have to remove some covers to find it better the first time, is how to disconnect the gas line between the fuel tank and the carburetor, to drain the fuel in the spring.

I really don’t want to have to buy a fuel siphon pump to pump out the fuel tank from the top, and my other Toro engines all have easy access to the fuel hose so I can just pop it off, and drain it into a gas can.

I’m hoping once I get a better look under some covers, this one will work the same way, and be easy to drain every year.

When looking to replace my old single stage snowblower, I wanted something that was more powerful but I wasn’t interested in one of those oversized monsters that is difficult to use. I was convinced that I needed a two stage to get the higher power.

The problem was most of the two stages I looked at had like 4 to 6 forward speeds and 1 or 2 backup speeds. It just seems like stopping every time you wanted to change speeds was more trouble than it was worth.

Then I ran across the Toro SnowMaster series. I initially ruled it out because it was not a truly two stage, but eventually circled back when I did not find what I was looking in a two stage. When I started researching the SnowMaster 824 QXE, I realized it was better than I was initially looking for.

I was familiar with the Personal Pace feature with their lawn mower series. The reviews that I read said that the single augur worked as well as the dual augur due to some amazing engineering. I liked the idea that you can move as fast or slow as you want to without stopping and changing gears.

One review said that the Personal Pace does take some getting used to, which I agree. After using it for a few passes, it doesn’t take very long to master the Personal Pace feature. What impressed me most was the design of the chute control.

I was worried that it wouldn’t be that good. To my surprise, the shifting action is solid and very easy to use. You can literally change the direction of the chute and the distance angle without stopping.

You shift it in the direction and angle you wish to go and it locks into place when you let go of the control. By far, it’s the best snow blower on the market. I typically read more of the negative reviews than the positive to see what troubles others have had.

One of the complaints was it does not get low enough to the ground. I had no trouble with that which leads me to believe the glides were not adjusted to their liking. Simple adjustment should take care of that.

Its easy to setup, and easy to use, and does an excellent job. Thank you Toro for your amazing engineering.

If you hate having snow on your driveway ,buy this bad boy! Light , agile, POWERFUL, responsive, easy start and great in any type of the white stuff. This unit will throw the snow back into the heavens from where it came.

This little unit punches well above it weight , the 824 engine purrs along as the auger rips through the snow like it’s pi**ed off. This lightweight snowblower with power drive wheels and easy turn can be handled with ease by most any adult.

The joystick control is the best on the market. And for those still not convinced just yet , I live outside Erie pa. Yearly our city is in the running for snowiest city in the lower 48 states. (Winning the award several times).

Now …. I’m not bragging but we do know a little about snow removal. I have owned single stages. 2 stages , 3 stages and now his toro hybrid. This snowmaster is my favorite choice for any type of snow.

My unit was delivered by my local toro dealer ,lakefront mower in Erie pa. It came completely assembled and gas and oil were full ready to go. My best honest advice is this is a game changer when it comes to snowblowers.

I can’t wait until toro releases a battery version of this snowblower. There are several video reviews of this snowmaster on YouTube, there you can see this unit in real life situations. I couldn’t be happier with this little go getter.

Treat yourself (and your back) by pressing the buy it now button. Growing up and growing old in a snow belt , I have used every type and brand of snowblowers. I. M. O. Toro never disappoints, and is second to none.

I bought this in November 2021, and used it once before it completely died, Jan 3, 2022. The auger literally would not start at all. I called Ego Customer service and after hours back and forth on the phone, I was directed to take the unit to the nearest service center (75KM away).

The authorized dealer assessed it, and thought they knew what needed to be fixed. The part they THOUGHT they needed was on back order and when the part came in, it didn’t fix the problem. They tried replacing multiple parts before EGO was finally convinced that it was a dead unit, a month and a half after it went in for warranty repair.

Ego authorized a replacement snowblower and we picked it up on February 16, 2022. It’s now March 12, 2022, I’ve used the replacement twice before it too died—albeit in a different way! On our third snowfall, about halfway through our driveway, it rapidly discharged and overheated any battery placed in the left battery port, while the right-side battery sat at full charge.

I was not sure if it was the battery or the snowblower, so I put in a fresh battery (I have multiple other EGO products that I LOVE). The fully charged battery I put in overheated and FULLY discharged itself in less than 50 feet of travel on my driveway (less than a minute).

BOTH batteries smelled of burnt plastic when I took them out, and both were warm to the touch in a -10 windchill. Ego’s answer to this is to replace the already replaced snow blower, but not the batteries.

I’ve lost all faith in this product. I love their lawnmower, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, weed whipper, and leaf blower, and we were considering their new ride on mower (but no longer). While their other products are excellent, their customer service needs a complete overhaul and their Snowblower needs FAR better quality-control or a redesign.

Avoid it!.

It’s a great snow blower. I use it for commercial use and it is ran 7-12 hours on a snow day. This snow blower is a 5 out of 5 stars for any residential user, no question. However, I use this snow blower in the worst of the of the worst and have found a few areas of improvement.

First, snow gets into the battery compartment when closed. I have to open the battery compartment multiple times outside and with the snow build up inside plus any other snow the gets in while switching batteries CAN cause snow to compact under the batteries and make it difficult to insert new batteries, though this has only happens after 2 or more days of snow blowing in a row.

Another more common issue is the switches/levels to release the batteries will get stuck and become hard to move or even get stuck and you have to either warm the snow blower up (which isn’t an option when I’m working) or use something like a screw driver and hammer to gently tap and break the ice so the switch/level release can move.

I have a large property were it takes 5-7 hours of just snow blowing and have found another issue. This one property has open fields that on a windy day will get 8-12inches of super compact snow drifts (even without any actual snow fall).

The snow blower has a hard time getting down to payment and with actually ride up the drifts and I’ll be pushing it into the drift, the wheel will also spin out like crazy and tractor will become an issue.

This is the only property I have had this issue on, it will easily go through compacted snow at the end of driveways, but this property is an except with extremely compacted snow. However, as a contractor, I would like a heavier machine with tracks that will plow through the stuff and not spin out.

I bought this unit after many years of using older used machines that others have used , abused, neglected and all needed major repairs etc. thought it was time to buy something new , getting tired of limping along older ones…as starting not being able to find parts etc.

New 26 inch cub cadet: Assembly easy straight forward, packaged well, only a few scuffs, and a few imperfections in paint from factory, etc. All cables and adjustments seem to be well, put together fairly well.

Only minor adjustment needed so nothing was binding or trying to travel beyond the “max travel” I check over all things, fueled and added oil. Started 1 pull, runs well, but when it’s cold runs better with choke in 1st position off run side.

This is typical with any new engine as they are so lean from the factory. Nothing too surprising here. operates well, the steering or lower lever turning controls are a great idea, but the levers are not ergonomically.

Too short and throw distance is too far of a reach to be convenient. These would be great if designed a little better. I end up never using them. The main top levers for auger engagement and drive are very hard to push and after a hour or so of snow blowing your hands will feel it, all my older units had similar levers but a better cam like similar to a bow with a “ let off” feel to them once engaged all the way, none of the older ones had as much spring tension as this one does when fully engaged against the handle.

Its probable a safety thing, but somewhat uncomfortable after a hour or so. It was a hard decision between the 24 inch and 26 inch. I selected this model over the 24 inch due to the metal chute, instead of plastic, but I like the plastic chute control via solid rod and handle, 26 inch model uses a flex drive cable rerouted to the handle, so not as precise control and it is mounted low and you may find your leg/knee hitting it from time to time, having to bending down slightly to grab, should have been mounted higher, and solid rod control mounted higher like on the 24 inch, would have been much better for a larger heavy chute like this, as I also question the longevity of using these flex drive cables.

Engine is decent, nothing out of the normal here. The included Blue skids look odd and seem like an afterthought, as far as color goes, I swapped them out for black, looks much better, I will also be modifying the chute control type and location as well as auger and drive lever tension.

All and all good, reliable machine, so far 1 winter with moderate snow fall for Minnesota, we’ll see what next year brings. A lot of good features, and a lot of good ideas, but not have been dialed in or executed very well, but the basic engine and thrower (auger, chute, gearing , and chassis part) operates well.

I purchased the snowblower last year from Lowes and it worked great for one season, always using 91 octane fuel. At the end of the season I ran it dry and stored it exactly how the manufacturer stated i should store it.

Fast forward to now, the snow blower does not want to start and is not working at all. I had to wait 5 weeks for the company that services their product to take a look at my machine just to have them tell me the carburetor was completely dirty.

When i spoke to the mechanic as explained to him how i stored the machine over the summer and stated that it did not make sense that the carburetor be that dirty. However, he stated that there was nothing he could do because cub cadet does not cover this.

So now im stuck with a 300$ bill. I had to use this expensive company as it was the only one that dealt with cub cadet warranty. i could have gotten it cleaned for 150 with other companies. The people i talked to at cub cadet were extremely rude and just dismissed me right away.

I would strongly suggest you stay away from this company in the future and will definitely never recommend them to anyone.

I’ve had my Cub Cadet 2X26 for three seasons and have been generally happy with it. That said, the shaft on the choke control rod snapped off at the beginning of this winter. The shaft broke flush with the aluminum carb casting so there is no simple repair.

The actual choke plate is sheetmetal which is crimped onto the plastic shaft. So the choke plate cannot be removed to replace the broken shaft. Plus a replacement carb had a 6 week lead time. “Awesome”.

Looking at the web pages for Huayi – the manufacturer of the carb. there are DOZENS of various designs of the same basic size which do have a steel shaft and removable/replaceable plate, so Cub Cadet obviously chose a highly inferior (el-cheapo) carb.

I get it, you were designing to a price point, but – Hey – these snowblowers are not cheap! So, knowing these get used in very cold climates – and then to spec them with a plastic shaft (brittle at cold temps) is a latent design defect/oversight.

(Oh and I’m just past warranty too) I have been a machine designer and professional engineer for 40 years. I’ll go to Huayi and find a compatible carb with a steel shaft and removable chole plate. then will rig an appropriate choke control.

Come on C. C. you know better – spec proper components.

Some pre-amble. I made the commitment to move away from gas powered tools this past year, and my snow blower was last to go about 1. 5 months ago. I purchased Toro lawnmower in October with intention of also buying Toro snow blower for interchangeability of batteries.

Let me say that my original plan was to buy the newly released 2-stage 26″ Toro snow blower, but when I could not find them anywhere (waiting lists) due to supply chain issues everywhere, I found myself looking at other options.

that’s when I started looking at this single stage with 7. 5a battery. Based on reviews, it seemed to be a really good machine, and more I thought about it, it is probably sufficient for my 4 car driveway (estimate 20′ x 40′), and had the added advantage of small footprint and light weight for storage.

Oh, let’s not forget about ~$1350 less expensive too! I did not want to find myself without a blower this winter for worry that these would also sell out, so I took the plunge and ordered a couple of months before winter hit.

So, back to review of the e21 Power Clear. First snow storm last night in Eastern Ontario (Dec 5th), and we got quite a few cms of snow, followed by freezing rain. So snow was high in some places, and wet, with a thinner crusty layer.

Temp outside was about -2 degrees Celcius. so not cold. I started in non-eco mode and for snow that was 8″ deep, it ate threw it. However, after doing about half my driveway, I checked battery level.

it was down to 2 bars (fully charged when I started). So, I switched to Eco mode to do the remaining half, my about 50 sq ft of walk way and the road in front of my yard (about 6′ x 10′ so snow plow driver can see my curb and to minimize the pile at end of driveway).

The stuff on the road was about the same height of blower opening and it had a tougher time, but still chewed threw it. Had to take Eco mode off for that though. It had no issue in eco mode, although you can tell the difference in the motor speed and as one would expect, distance snow was thrown.

Still did the job though. And yes, this can throw the snow easily 25ft. almost accidently threw snow over my yard and onto my neighbours driveway. When I was done, I had one bar on my battery. What I don’t know is how close the machine was to just shutting down from lack of battery power.

Not sure if these batteries show red when completely spent or not, but based on claims and reviews, I suppose I expected more than that. Also, note it was not cold out, and I suspect cold temps take their toll on battery life.

That said, if it was that cold, would have been light fluffy snow instead of wet crusty snow, so maybe that somewhat balances out. All this to say based on my one experience, if we were expecting a huge snow fall, ie.

consistent depth of 6-7 inches or more, I would likely plan to clean the snow at least a couple of times during the storm opposed to waiting for the snow to stop, as I would do and easily manage with my previous 2-stage 11 hp gas snow blower.

Keep in mind that my thinking in this regard is only based on my experience using this unit once, so take with a grain of salt. Then, I waited for the plow to come by, but by then, there wasn’t enough material to justify using the blower.

it was mostly water and slush from all the rain and +6 degree temp. One thing that I definitely noticed, and miss, was the shoot height adjustment at the handle. Given my situation, I am adjusting height several times during the snow blowing session, and I cannot reach the chute adjustment from behind the blower (I am 6’4″).

I have to stop and go to the side to adjust it whereas on my gas blower, I could adjust it quickly with the lever on the main handle bar on the fly while blowing snow. I would pay more for this unit to have that functionality at the handlebar.

Is it a deal breaker? Not likely, but time will tell. Who knows, maybe I will get annoyed enough to move to a 2-stage. So, summary of pros and cons (for me): Pros: small foot print, electric so no dino fuel required, light for storage on a shelf in my garage, seems to handle decently deep snow, even wet, and can throw it far, scrapes driveway clean so no need to follow up with shovel like I did with my big gas blower, led light is bright, although I used in the morning so was less noticeable, super light to maneuver while using it, easy to push through the snow.

little effort required. Cons: 7. 5a battery may not last as long as claims, wish the wheels were rubber instead of plastic, and really miss being able to adjust the shoot height. I will say that I am a little concerned about the plastic chute and possibility of cracking in very cold temps and if the impeller grabs a decent chunk of ice or rock.

That’s just me though, not sure if it would crack or cause any issues, but something to be said about strength of metal chute. Would I buy it again? At this point, yes. However, I won’t really know for sure until I have used this at least a half a dozen times under various conditions.

Nevertheless, hope this helps those who may be considering moving to electric or this blower in particular. One more thing, there is only one other brand that I considered for my battery lawnmower and snow blower (starts with an E ends with an o, and “gee”, it’s name is short) it, but after research on reliability and customer service, I decided to go with Toro, even though it is a bit of a premium.

They have an established authorized dealer network for any warranty work or repairs.

I bought this before Thanksgiving and was able to use it a few times and it was working great. Then after a small snowfall before Xmas, it was running like before and then suddenly died for no apparent reason.

I tried a different battery to see if the issue was that instead but it just wouldn’t start up again. Fortunately I was able to bring it back to Home Depot and exchange it for a new one. My only complaints are that there is no on/off for the lights because they can actually make things more difficult when it’s dark and blowing snow.

It would be nice to be able to turn them off when not needed. I also had some issues when the pavement isn’t level and the scraper would bump and I would suddenly stop and run into the snow blower. It just seems to happen a bit more with this than my old gas powered Toro.

The auger also scrapes against uneven pavement but that shouldn’t damage the auger too much I don’t think. It’s very quiet and sometimes I hear the rocks it picks up and get worried that something is going to break.

Otherwise it has worked very well, even in heavy wet snow. I haven’t tried it in snow deeper than 6 inches or so but I try not to let snow get that high anyway. It’s so quiet that I can clear snow later at night without bothering my neighbors If it want.

Overall, a very good product so far.

I live in remote Alaska. The winter of 20-21 we had a huge amount of snow and 21-22 is shaping up to be similar. I am only witholding one star because having it for only 6 months I can’t speak to long term durability.

Last winter I was so sick of replacing belts and reparing “belt, drive wheel, clutch systems” of most other blowers. My brother had no trouble with his Honda in 20 years of use – so I bought one. Its got a lot of use since I bought in March 21.

I really really like the hydrostaric drive system – why did I wait so long? SO much better than the 3 other brands I’ve used – worth the price. The light is powerful and well located. I’m getting older – the electric start is wonderful.

Controls are well located and pretty intuitive. I like the chute joy stick and I hope its really durable – mine gets hard use. They could make a manual chute model that would be as durable and cheaper yet nearly as handy.

I like the thumb tab tilt system – totally needed for reversing as well as adjusting its forward “bite”. I love the wide speed range for forward and reverse. My previous machines were necessarily limited (too slow) in reverse which gets aggravating if you are blowing snow for 4-8 hours a day.

This Honda can back up quickly – I LIKE that but be a little careful. The handle bars are at a comfortable height and width for me – 5 foot 9 and slight build and I can manage machine well. I have 3 suggestions for improvement: 1) The gas cap is too big & slippery.

When everything is wet or cold and slippery its hard to grip the cap. A slightly smaller diameter rubber coated or easy grip (knurled ?) cap would be nice. 2) The plastic cleaning baton is useless. We had 15 inches of wet snow that stuck heavily to the housing, and auger blades.

The baton did nothing. I grabbed a different braind tool that has a little shovel like blade on one end – it worked very well. Honda should consider a change – see photo. 3) The battery box is hard to open – I may be doing something wrong but its very hard to access the battery – the top should hinge better and open more freely.

Ordered and picked up this machine in October and I just couldn’t wait for the snow to try it out. Pros of the machine: Very nice build quality with the exception of the handle/finger levers being a bit flimsy.

Nice and quiet, runs very smoothly. Battery start is fantastic, easiest machine to fire up. Electric chute is nice and functions great, it moves a little on the slow side though. Cons: This snowblower is underpowered, it struggles and bogs too much forcing you to go real slow, even through snow that’s not that heavy.

The chute clogs a lot, a lot, I’ve only used it twice and had to unclog this thing a dozen times. Very uncomfortable to use if you’re over 5’5″, I’m 6′ tall and it’s a back killer for sure. For me the ergonomics are all wrong, feel like I need 4 hands to use it efficiently, moving it around takes so much time and effort, I find myself muscling it around way too much and it makes a mess of the driveway.

In the end I’m very displeased and aggravated with this machine, something that costs this much should have no issues at all. Did I mention the clogging? My 24 year old simplicity runs circles around the Honda and I’ve been using it instead.

Now what do I do with a $3600 door stop? Can I return it or do have to dump it at a huge loss? Honestly not sure if the Honda brand will be on my list in the future.

We purchased a Honda product due to our experience with Honda bikes,generator, etc. We purchased this in 9/3/2020 Didn’t have alot of snow that year but product went through a crazy load of sheer bolts small and large ones had to purchased many more of those.

The next year on November and December we had massive storms roads were closed to get off the hill a d around the lake. The cable broke on the blower and we. neededit fixed quickly as we were getting 1 foot of snow every hour for days.

the places that were on our warranty list were for obviously reasons booked up we put it in our trailer and drove it down the hill to get it repaired. It was done in 1 day thankfully. I called Honda and explained situation she understood gave me a case number said she would get back to me soon.

My mother got sick and passed away this was the first I had to get back to my paper work HONDA APPARENTLY SENT ME AN EMAIL SAYUNG THEY WOULDN’T COVER MY 125. 00 INVOICE REALLY? HONDA AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THIER PRODUCT.

IM SHOCKED 2600. 00 FOR A BLOWER AND IT WAS USED TWICE HUMMM SORRY I DIDN’T STICK WITH MY LITTLE CRAFTSMAN IT WORKED FOR 20 YEARS AWGER BROKE THATS WHY WE BOUGHT THE NEW ONE SORRY TO SAY HONDA NOT THE COMPANY I THOUGHT THEY WERE.

My TW picked this up for me for Christmas! It’s been bitterly cold here and so had to wait for the right day to test it out. We back into a pond that hasn’t been cleared all season. Here’s my take on the unit so far: 1) assembly was easy and overall I’m impressed with the instruction manual, fit and finish and operating instructions.

Unit was well packaged and completely pristine. 2) feature I couldn’t seem to find on the CT website but it DOES have: electric start! But it starts with a single pull each time too. 3) feature it doesn’t have and you might not have picked up on it, but you can probably figure out how to add one later: light kit.

4) this is a 6hp unit and it chewed through everything I threw at it! The snow was hard on top, smooth heavy pellets and sort of a weird hard pack base layer. And, the kids had ran across it a bunch too so they packed it down as well.

It. Cleared. It. All. I was out for about 2 hours, and as you can see the rink is a decent size. Also cleared a path out to it. Took about a tank of gas. Maybe a little less. I might lower the feet a bit to get a bit closer to the ice, next time.

Looking forward to the next snowfall.

Bought it last Thursday during sale in the store, brought it home in the back of a Honda CV-R. Started on the first pull, nice and smooth. Sat a week in garage until todays snowfall. Chewed through 15cm of rapidly turning wet snow with nary a hesitation.

Threw for 20′ easily. Did 5 driveways and 3 long pathways on about a tank and a half of gas. At the very end of today’s run i snag a hidden rock. Two shear pins broke, just as designed, auger completely undamaged save for a small scratch where the rock hit.

Took 20 seconds to install new pins. All in all VERY satisfied for a harsh first day. A+.

We purchased a Certified last year from Canadian Tire, and it was nothing but trouble from the minute we got it home. It took 45 minutes to warm up. It couldn’t handle heavier snow at all, and blew belts every other time we used it.

Locating belts for it at Canadian Tire alone was a pain in the rump as well. So we purchased this Husqvarna as replacement as the price point was decent for a Husqvarna, and it operates a million times better.

NEVER buy a cheap snow blower. Lesson learned.

My annual snowfall is typically between 16 and 20 feet. Yes, you read that correctly. Colorado snow is typically cold and “dry” but it is still a lot when your driveway is 600 feet long and your deck is 60 feet across.

I’ve managed to get by for the past 16 years but am getting too old to fight it. I would have preferred a 3-stage on tracks but the dealer only had a 2-stage available. The first test was a 20″ snowfall at zero degrees.

No problems starting or clearing. I absolutely see the reason for heated handgrips now! My drive is uneven dirt so the ability to adjust the clearing height, which is also the clearance height, to 4 settings was a necessity.

The machine is easier to start than I thought it would be – first or second pull regardless of temperature. Note that the cord is quite long so long arms are helpful. I do wish the handles were higher.

People are getting taller and I am tall. That means the handles are a couple inches too low to be comfortable for me. A “crawl” forward speed would also be helpful. Even at the lowest forward speed, in deep or heavy snow, I have to let off the drive frequently to allow the blower to catch up.

Conversely, the highest reverse speed is painfully slow and the lowest reverse speed is no motion whatsoever. This is still a 5-star piece of equipment. I’ve had multiple snowfalls with drifting and so far I’m pretty amazed.

And clearing my deck takes only a few minutes. I bought this brand because I was fairly confident of the quality. Still, with what I’ve already put it through in just over a week, I’m amazed it’s still going.

I bought this snow blower back in November 2020. After using it a few times I noticed that R1 was not moving the snow blower and R2 was incredibly slow. So, I called up Cub Cadet and spoke with a guy that suggested I bring it to the dealer and have it serviced.

The Friction Plate was out of alignment, and the dealer fixed that. This was in January I believe. Well, we had a mild winter with not much snow, and I only had to run it couple more times. After the second snow since having it serviced I began seeing the same issue.

I called Cub Cadet again and they told me to bring it back to the dealer and they will determine if it is a defect. I can imagine this will continue until the warranty expires and I will have to pay for the cost of the service out of pocket.

So, I will make the 60 mile round trip a few more times, but it has gotten old already. Additionally using the triggers to assist with turning I have to press on the handles to lift the weight of the front end off the ground or it will not want to turn at all.

Does it throw snow? Yes, but so far that is the only thing it does well, other than sit in my garage. Save yourself the headache and buy something else.

Easy to assemble. Easy to use and starts on first pull even on very cold days. handled 12in of heavy wet snow without a problem. 200ft driveway with large turnaround and parking. Tackles steep walkway without a problem.

One issue that I have is the first reverse gear. Either is stopped or moves super slowly forward. I belive it can be adjusted which would also speed up reverse gears. seems like people have similar issue with gears not being properly adjusted.

Hence one star off. Update: I fixed the gear issues by adjusting the tension on the shifter cable and it works perfectly to change gears. Seems like some service departments miss the obvious. It’s about a 10min fix anyone can do and listed on the manual.

My first hour with this machine was a real bummer. The machine goes way too fast and jumps when engaged. Any snow over 2″ will not keep and caused me to stop & go over and over. If you put it on the fastest setting, you’re literally running with the machine.

I adjusted the shift rod so now reverse “1” is a comfortable forward speed that can handle snow 4 to 6 inches without having to stop. It’s unorthodox but the only way to make it controllable, consistent and comfortable.

We had unfortunately picked up some plastic wrap that was hidden under the snow. The left auger shaft blew out of the side housing. It had ripped the shaft/housing washer off and had pulled around and off the washer bolt.

The washer actually took the same shape as the hex outline of the bolt. The what should be a shear bolt broke as well even though you advertise the traditional shear bolt is not needed. This is not true.

I had to remove the pully under the engine, remove the right and left side shaft housing bolts and pull the entire assembly out to replace the washer and reattached the shaft bushing assembly’s. All of this could have been avoided if a traditional shear pin/bolt had been used.

The engine does not idle/run smoothly. Although it stays running, It pops and sputters intermittently. Very disappointed with this unit.

I’ve owned four snowblowers in the past forty years but this is by far the worst I’ve owned. This Toro 826 is only a year old. On the fifth time I used the machine a flimsy metal clip holding the left wheel on broke resulting in the loss of a small metal bar inside it meaning thee wheel was no longer locked to the axle.

Toro did send me replacement parts that were incorrect and I ended up purchasing parts from a local Toro dealer. The next time the impeller bolts sheared in 10 inches of fresh light snow yet Toro insists there are no shear bolts on the machine.

I managed to find replacements and they were easy to replace This last time, yesterday, the machine in about 15 inches of fresh fallen (not heavy, wet) snow suddenly became impossible to steer and then the drive wheels immediately stopped completely with very loud grinding sounds coming from inside the machine.

The engine never stopped or stalled but kept running. To say I’m unimpressed with Toro quality is an understatement. What will Toro do to rectify this situation? I have no idea how I’m even going to get the machine to the repair shop for warranty work as I have no means to get it there.

This has been a horrible situation with a defective product from the first day of it’s purchase. Again, will Toro correct this other than say sorry and give me a phone number to the repair depot?.

I was fortunate enough to be able to use this snow blower within the first 30 days of my purchase because I had issues. Issue one, the discharge chute controlled by a joystick on the top of console would not lock in place when I was using it.

It was fine in the garage when not in use but when using the blower, the chute would fall to the low side of snow blower and swing limply. As one can imagine this wasnt easy to use in this condition.

Like I said I was fortunate to have used it within the first 30 days and the box store gladly exchanged it for a single stage Toro snow blower. Maybe it was put together incorrectly I did not troubleshoot I just exchanged as it was to big and clunky for my wife to use anyway.

That’s why I went with a single stage. I’ve always had great luck with Toro I think this models joystick control of the shoot is new design and all the glitches have not been worked out yet.

Now that I have used this blower a half dozen times after heavy snow falls. The first thing I noticed with the Briggs & Stratton 306cc was its weight. It is not an easy machine to move when the engine is not running.

This snow blower is not woman friendly. My wife could use it on the straight and level but could not rotate the blower’s chute with the crank. It does take a man’s strong arm. She was also lost her grip on the handle grips because of the unexpected rapid turns, with a wide open throttle rapid.

She did learn however. The two most serious problems I was confronted with was the blower’s constant lack of traction. The motor is easily powerful enough to push into deep snow or, to move the machine up a gentle enclines but, it loses traction almost immediately.

Possibly it’s caused by the machines weight. The most glaring fault of this machine is the reverse setting. The blower will not move backwards, even on a “slight” encline. Whether or not the clutch is not set properly or it’s a design flaw, I don’t know yet.

It takes all my strength to pull it backwards when I need it to back up on a very slight encline. As I said, it is a heavy machine to man handle. Other than those two major flaws, the Briggs & Stratton 306cc snow blower is a great machine for our mountain, heavy snowfalls.

It has the power to push its self into and through deep snow, throws the snow 25 -30 ft at max throttle setting. The heated handles are a great feature. After four uses in -deep- snow, if it were not for the difficult chute rotating crank the lack of traction and not wanting to back up, I would give the Briggs & Stratton a 10 +.

Because of the three major faults mentioned above, I must reluctantly give the machine a rating of -8, or only three stars. I will highly recommend the machine for ground level snow blowing; however, for areas with enclines, unless a man only uses the blower, I would say NO.

Though I have use the 306cc only twice most of the features are a definite bonus. To use the blowers steering mechanism nearly through me off my feet. The engine’s RPM throttle control needs to me backed off to prevent the being whipped sideways.

The blower shoot controls are stiff and an excerted effort is required to redirect the shoot blow the snow where I needed to blow it. I had a terrible time with tires losing their traction on the slight encline of our driveway.

May I was not using enough pressure to tighten the shoe guides in fear of damaging them; however, I have had to readjust them three times in the two uses of the blower. The good side of the blower; the variable speed throttle is a blessing for controlling how far I wanted the snow to be blown and at the speed I wanted the machine to move forward.

All in all, if it were not for the whipping action of the steering and tightness of the controls I would give the 306cc a 10; however with the weight of the machine and the resulting loss of traction on gentle slopes, I am giving the blower 4 stars.

With a remedy for the traction loss, I would highly recommend the 306cc to anyone who lives in areas where the snowfalls are extensive.

Bought this as the recent snowstorm mangled our older blower. After the first few passes with this new machine, I was impressed to say the least. This 24” machine really threw the snow. Seemed to have great power and ran very smoothly.

The belts took about 10 minutes to get worn in and seated nicely in their pulleys. The speed control is nice and smooth and the two reverse gears are nice to back up if you don’t want to pull it backwards.

The chute looks beefy and the controls for it work well. It swings a full 180 degrees. The adjustment for throw height seems adequate. It definitely goes nice and low so you aren’t shooting snow up into the wind or off into the neighbours yard.

A great machine that will come in handy for all but the heaviest of jobs! Picked it up on a 40x day as well, so got a nice treat for that! Happy snowfalls!.

CUB CADET 3X 26″ Track Drive Ask why a snow blower vs. a snow plow: Do you need a plow or a blower. Do you have a long-run place to blow snow? Do you have a end zone for plowed snow? Plows can move ice, sleet, and snow.

Sleet/Ice will jam in the snow blower chute. Track Drive: Really hard to maneuver in tight areas when you also have to be adjusting the chute – you run out of hands. Need to plan your moves and get experience and not look like a rookie.

This is too big for small areas. Consider wheel drive with chains instead of track drive. I have not lost a tread: My neighbor has that problem all the time on a different brand. 3-stage: Not much clearance between thrower blade and housing.

Constantly watch the chute to ensure 3rd stage is working or it will get packed when the pin shears and the auger is still working. Pull start: Best after unit is warm for restarting. Use the choke. Try without priming first.

Usually starts quickly. Reliabilty: Do NOT run with choke on. Store in a shelter area when not in use. Use alcohol-free gasoline. I am getting my money worth. Gravel: 3/8″ minus (#9) is causing real problems.

Getting jammed between throwing blade and the housing thereby shearing the pin. When not jammed , the gravel is shot out and come snow melt is all over the yard. You can break windows if not careful.

Hopefully, my gravel will all be crushed in a couple of years because it volcanic rock and not river rock. Gravel takes patience and learning where to throw the snow with gravel in it. 50 shear pins is really what you need if you have gravel.

738-05273-50 (shear pin) and 714-04040-50 (cotter pin). The thrower not the auger jams. Usually I can find the old cotter pin. Spare Shear pins: I like that 2 spare pin sets are included in the handles.

Yet, I put several in my pocket each time I start just in case. (I have a piece of wood to kneel on when cleaning out the jammed packed snow. ) Remember to lift into travel mode to make clearing out the pack snow easier.

Light: The light is not that bright. I carry a rechargable 800 lumens LED useful when a shear pin breaks. Speed control: I never need this many speeds forward: I have windows, porches. gates to maneuver past.

Slow gives the time needed to adjust the chute. I quess others like the options. Noise: All the neighbors know when I am using my snow blower so let them sleep and be considerate and avoid in the middle of the night.

Overall: What are you going to do? Bought mine because it snowed faster than I could shovel. Works best on bare ground or pavement with long distances (e. g. long driveway). Really hard to maneuver in 20 foot areas (e.

g. in front of my garage) and requires walking slowly on-and-off the clutch and clearing a turn-around area before starting. Documentation: Wrong shear pin listed in my documentation. 738-04124A was not installed for 3-stage thrower.

Use the correct pins in the correct locations. They were engineered to perform correctly. When the shear pin breaks, be thankful the neither housing nor blade were not damaged.

Have my C/C 3X 26″ TRAC Snow Blower for my 5th winter season. Thing thing is a BEAST. Extraordinarily reliable. I live in MA in the Worcester Hills where weather is funneled into our area, so snow storms are at an extreme here.

This past Saturday, we got almost 30″ of snow, not counting the 4′ drifts. My Trak C/C didn’t disappoint. I was outside cleaning up not only my home but some of my neighbors homes. Their Craftsman’s and Toro’s failed to push through the deep and heavy snow.

The Trak system is far superior to any two-wheeled snow blower. This thing cuts through the snow like a hot knife through butter. I’ve always been amazed at how far this machine throws the snow. One of my neighbors has a two-wheeled Ariens and we’ve both gone head-to-head.

My C/C was always just a click ahead of the Ariens. (Should have made a YouTube review about this). This machine has paid me back exponentially. Thank you Cub Cadet for making such an marvel of a machine!.

We had our first real snow in the Sierra Nevada’s overnight. It was a perfect opportunity to try out the Cub Cadet for the first time. The first thing I liked was that it started with one pull after being in a cold shed during the night.

After that, it was off to the races. It took a few minutes to get used to all the hand controls, and while I thought the heated hand grips were going to be a joke, they were actually a welcome addition.

Pulling levers to go right and left while at the same time moving forward and blowing snow in the right direction was a bit of a learning curve. After about 5 minutes I learned that the auger will stay spinning even if you let go of the handle if you are moving forward.

That was a huge help and a thoughtful feature. I can’t think of anything negative to say about this product. It performs as advertised and I am looking forward to putting my snow shovel away for the upcoming storms.

This one was the perfect size for me to clear the walkways and around the garage doors so I can get the tractor out and do the big work.
