20 Best Uv Resistant Tarp (2022 Updated)

I was looking for a true heavy duty trap. This 16 mil Poly Tarp is just that. I wanted it to enclose the frame work of a 12′ x 20′ Shelter frame that would stand up to the weather. I needed to get the 24′ x 36′ Tarp it was the only size to completely cover over the top and cover both sides to the ground , the extra 16′ in length worked out well because i could completely cover the back end.

Now I have a Dry Storage for my Vehicle. You can’t go wrong with this tarp !!.

My husband used this tarp to cover his beloved fishing boat. The boat was too big for garage, cant have carport in our subdivision. Very, very heavy duty at great price. He was able to sell the boat at premium price because the tarp kept it in great condition.

I am reviewing 1225 super heavy duty 16 MIL Brown tarp, this tarp is heavier than I expected and exceeds my expectations. I purchased it rather than shrink wrapping my boat, it looks like it should last for several seasons.

Does not blow around in the wind like the blue tarps do. Corner grommets are reinforced with extra material. Initial expense higher than blue tarp, but a great value compared to the cost of shrink wrap, better environmental choice too.

I’ve been happy with and bought previous tarps from REI. After I bought the 14 x 12ft one to use urgently during the torrential storm that slammed the west coast 10/24/21, I noticed immediately this tarp felt cheaper in quality and witnessed >2 grommets fall off just from removing it from its packaging.

The rest of the tarp has worked fine so far but this makes me question its durability. I will keep it because it seems too much trouble to return such a large and unwieldy tarp, especially when still wet from the storm, but I do hope REI will review its quality control better.

I purchased two of these tarps, different sizes. While camping you never know what you’ll encounter. I was camping in Durango recently and over the weekend, second night it rained most of the night and I did not setup a tarp over my tent.

The tent held up and is great to know how it stands up to weather. Third night, thank goodness this day was rain free so camp could dry out a bit. I checked the weather and saw a system moving in straight towards the campgrounds.

I tarped up my tent and mountain bike that was hitched on my truck. Storm moved in and was strong. Lightning and hard rain (no hail thank goodness) While laying in my tent during this downpour I felt so much at ease I had this extra layer over my tent.

This tarp held up great and had no leaks into the tent. Waterproof it is! Next day, I went for an adventure and had kept the tarp over my bike, but was still weary of keeping it on due to wind while driving.

I didn’t make it far as I saw a small puncture where my break lever poked through and took it off. My overall opinion, great for rain protection while at camp. How it will hold during high winds at camp? Not certain I’d be cautious.

This is a lightweight sturdy tarp that I use to lay on the floor of the lean to whenever we end up backpacking in one. I own several of these in different sizes and it has worked well. I also used this to tarp the open side of the lean to during a winter backpacking trip and it worked fine.

Actual size 9 foot 4 inch X 19 foot 4 inch. Stated size should indicate it will be “greater then 3%” shorter the advertised size. i. e. 20-3%=19. 4 Decimal, but is actually (3. 5%) 19. 3 decimal or 8 inches shorter then stated 20 Foot or 3.

5% shorter. Perhaps it was 10 X 20 Foot cut size before seeming the edges? I had to buy a second tarp to cover 20 X 10 foot span for my roof repair. Also seems to be the same thickness as a non heavy duty tarp.

Dose not measurer 10 mm thick. Perhaps it was 10 mm thick before thermally bonding the weave? Has plastic corner piece, but has the same cheep thin aluminum eyelets as any other tarp, that don’t hold up to pulling.

Low price seems to be the benefit. James.

I buy this tarp about every 18 months. I use it on a17. 5 ft. Bass boat. The white doesn’t seem to mold or sun rot as bad as other colors. It will start to shed dust when it is time to buy a new one.

I have had occasional grommets pull out, but the reinforced holes haven’t triggered rips. So I would definitely recommend it for year round use. Price is right!.

its a very nice high quality tarp! and for those that have left bad reviews on this tarp saying its not actual size must not know that when you buy a tarp its always a few inches shorter than actual size so there is no reason for this tarp to have bad reviews because it deserves 5 plus stars for Quality,Affordability and Fast Shipping.

When removing the tarp and stretching it out we did not see the small tear near one of the grommet holes. It wasn’t until the tarp was up and we had already started fastening it that we saw the small tear.

By this time we were not going to try to return it. We had some strong gorilla tape and just went with it. Also, I’m not sure how it’s supposed to be water proof when you can see through the threads when it’s stretched out.

I just received my tarp and started using it, so I haven’t had it long enough to write a review. It seems to be sturdy and heavy duty but we’ll see. The last tarp I purchased only lasted a year before it started dry rotting from the sun and rain.

I use it to cover my riding lawnmower and now I have a storage unit to put up for that so I won’t be using this tarp very long. I believe in the long run it would also begin to dry rot from the weather.

Even though it’s heavy duty I believe a tarp more thicker and sturdier would be better for year around weather conditions.

I’ve used the 10mil tarps for covering machinery for years, They vary a great deal. Since I don’t seem to be getting to build a shelter for the machinery, I figured I would be ahead of the game to spend more and get tarps that would stand up a lot longer.

These seem much better. I will know better in a few years.

The fit and thickness of the tarp, along with the waterproof feature makes this tarp an excellent choice for covering my walled trailer to prevent the plywood bed from rotting, due to moisture and water; although, trailer bed is painted with oil-based enamel paint to be durable and long- lasting!.

We have been using these Silver Tarps from Gemplers, in many different sizes, for about 20 years now. They last several years, year-round in direct sunlight. They are manufactured by “Harpster of Philipsburg” and Gempler’s consistently has the lowest delivered price for these tarps.

Very light weight, the Midwest winds shredded it rather quickly.

I have worked in the industry for many years of my life. I have worked around other companies and have seen and touched many pieces of equipment. There is CHEAP and there is VALUE. You usually dont get QUALITY with cheap, but sometimes you can get QUALITY for a VALUE price.

That is the case with Tents and Table products. Will definitely buy again without hesitation!.

This tarp was ripped and sealed together poorly by the manufacture. It’s not heavy duty. It doesn’t have the rope reinforced on the edges. And in order to have them fix it for you they ask you to send it back before they send you a new one.

The customer service here it’s pretty horrible. It’s disappointing to spend so much money on a tarp that has holes and then to have to tape and glue it back together because the company can’t send you a new one.

I’ll never shop through this company again it’s not worth the deal.

Absolutely the heaviest Tarp i have ever bought. 50 Bucks and a durable roof cover for our new home 14 x 19 garage roof. No more water leaks before i can plan a permanent roof replacement. All other covers failed, this is thick enough to secure to roof against high winds.

Decided to keep the wood from a red oak I had to take down – 6-8 cords, my guess. Wanted to dry it without having it rained on all the time. Hated to spend that much, but on the other hand it’s a LOT of “free” firewood.

Getting a tarp this big over two rows of 7′ high by 20+ long stack tucked in the woods was a fun challenge, but what struck me is that even with all the sharp corners split wood and small tree branch stubs offer, the tarp did not tear anywhere.

And now that its on, tossing wood chunks on it to hold it down doesn’t stretch the material at all. This is one tough tarp. I groused about cost, but good old HF brings this to market at FAR less than any other source out there.

Needed to wrap the two air conditioner compressors on my property for protection against the fall and winter elements. I was able to trim a small amount of excess material from these tarps so that, when folded over each compressor, they completely cover each of the two units on my property.

I secured them using duct tape. I expect the tarp to keep the two units clean and dry for the duration of the fall, winter, and spring seasons. I also hope to be able to reuse these customized tarp covers for a few more years before they deteriorate.

These are the first Green tarps I have purchased. I usually buy the blue, the thinest and least expensive, when I just need to cover something or drag leaves. If I need several seasons or more I get the silver 9mm HD tarps.

Siver tarps last 5 times longer than the blue out side and are at least 3x stronger. The Green at 7mm should hold up midway between the blue and Silver. Ck prices as sometimes the silver are on sale or nearly as cheap as the Green, making silvef better buy.

Geen tarp looks and feels sturdy, but hve not had them long enough to rate durability. The green color blends better outside than the silver, which really looks industrial rather than blending with trees and grass.

These tarps a super duty for all types of uses. I used the last one to cover a 10X10 garage door opening. It is beginning to show a little wear after a full year of horrific weather, high winds, ice and blistering heat.

It is completely in tact only suffering where the grommets are, but still holding strong.

I used it to keep water off my camper and it did the job. tightly woven but not as heavy to handle as vinyl. Grommets seem strong and closely spaced so easier to snug down.

I was a lot suprised that this tarp was EVERYTHING stated in the add. And maybe a little better. Heavy, strong and a great price. I have my tractor covered with blade connected. Thanks for the honest add that fulfilled what I hoped for.

This is a nice tarp except for one thing – the size is not even close to 8×10 and that really mattered for the greenhouse cover I used it for. Now I have about a 6 inch gap on one side that lets the sun in, which is not a huge deal but if you are going to sell something as an 8×10, for goodness sake, TELL people is 7.

5 x 9. 5 instead of showing it on the sales page as 8×10. I still give five stars for quality. I hope the strength holds up to my expectations.

I bought this to replace a torn cloth/nylon canopy tarp, and it works just great. If you keep a patio/ yard canopy up all year, and you’ve had issues with either the wind blowing the tarp from underneath so hard you’re afraid it’s going to do a Mary Poppins, or you wake up at 3 am, realize it’s raining and have to run outside with a broom and push up the “water blisters” that sag the tarp to keep the frame from collapsing under the water weight, those aren’t going to be problems anymore.

I am very glad I paid the extra to get the thickest mesh Walmart offered, because it really is sturdy- it’s even much thicker than the mesh used at my local nursery. And all my plants- the ones that like sun and the shade ones are growing like crazy.

The only thing to be aware of is that the mesh is so thick, that when you’re sitting under it, you don’t realize that the sun is still coming in, and after 1/2 hr or so you can get a little pink. I took a strip from my old cloth tarp and stretched it over 1 small section of my 15 ft canopy, and it makes for a great shade area.

And because the mesh is so thick, you can hardly see it. For what I was trying to achieve, this was just perfect.

I order this mesh tarp for a temporary shad and hawk protecter for my chicken coop. So far it’s worked great keeps it a lot cooler in my states heat of the summer. I haven’t had any hawks try 2 bust threw it yet.

I was impressed by the quality and how quickly it got here. It’s held up good against our wind so far too. After I put my tin roof on, I will wrap it around the sides for shade and a lil bit of a wind block.

So far very pleased.

I’m using the tarp to cover an open end of a shed that I keep lawn equipment in and it works perfect. Keeps the weather and prying eyes out but lets in enough light that I can see what I’m looking for without having to remove the tarp.

The tarp itself seems like it is well made and sturdy around the grommets.

Not 12mm and not the cut size either. But I made it work with my carport frame. I know it isn’t 12 mil because the one I replace with this one was 12 mil and it was noticeably thicker. But it worked for my needs and it lets in some light so I can see while under it.

It was longer than 19. 6′ and shorter than 11. 6′ making bungee size from 6″ to 9″.

This tarp is as they say heavy duty. Most tarps don’t last very long under normal weather conditions. The price you pay and only get a year out of a tarp is unfair. I can tell this tarp well last for several years because of the thickness, reflectivness and quallity of this tarp.

And the price is great for this size tarp.

Great quality. Bought a 6 mil thick tarp at Ollie’s for $60.00, lasted 2 months. You get what you pay for. This 12mil tarp should last years.

Nice and heavy duty. Plenty of grommet holes andVery plyable. All 4 corners are reinforced with corner angles for strength. A very good tarp for the money.

This tarp is a nice heavy duty material, that is UV treated to last for years out in the elements. There are grommets every 1. 5 feet for multiple attachment points for tie downs. This tarp makes a great roof cover for an RV.

I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. This tarp is really heavy duty and I know it will last years. Not that I would need to but I would buy another one if needed.

My Only Complaint Is in The Description It says it’s a cut Piece you Should expect the tarp to be short Which I understood and expected but It ended up being More like 10 percent PLUS short On the Long side(a little disappointing).

so Instead of being 10×30 I got close to a 9ft and little under 26ft I made it work but That’s almost 4 feet that’s almost another tarp. But overall The tarp is Heavy Duty; Packaged good; Delivery was fast; I would Recommend This product just take in consideration of the shortage.

The tarp if nicely. Was exactly what I needed. Arrived in only a couple of days.

Pretty thick material for the price.. Put over the top of my camper to protect from ice build up over winter.. Tie down holes are pretty strong.. WIll buy another for a spare.

I used the tarp to cover my possessions in a move from one state to the next. I needed something durable that would keep out the rain. It is heavy duty and would work for most weather applications.

Tarp did not last one trip before the Eyelets tore out. I would not recommend purchasing this item.

Wow. If your looking for a blue tarp then look no further. This tarp out tarps them all! Stand out from your loser friends and get these tarps. Be the talk of the town and cover stuff in style! Never go to bed worrying about your uncovered things in the back yard.

I got one tarp for every item in the yard. Now I sleep well not worried about them being uncovered.

I have used tarps like this in the past, and recommend using it where it can do the job. If you do that, it will serve you well. What it can’t do: — It can’t replace a strong canvas tarp. It rips and tears easily, or if pulled tight against something sharp.

— Don’t expect the tarp to not rip out the grommets if you have a lot of strong winds. — It won’t last forever. Sun and soft rubbing will eventually cause a hole to fray through. What it can do: — It is waterproof (unless it rips).

It will keep whatever is underneath it dry. — If you are careful and choose jobs it can do, it should last at least three years. The down-and-dirty: This tarp, if ripped or frayed, will break down into strands of plastic.

If you don’t do anything to fix that issue, you will have strands tangling in other items in your yard. To fix, use duct tape. Tape on both sides for max hold, and easier to fix small tears before they expand to holes with strands flying about.

Once you know it can rip or tear, you can do things to help it. My last tarp kept my wood (not always the smoothest items) dry for two years. Last year (third year) I didn’t repair the tiny rips and had some wet wood.

This year, I folded the old tarp and placed it on top of my wood pile (picture rows about 15 feet long, 5 feet deep). The folded old tarp protects the new tarp from sharp points as well as fraying when the wind blows.

Expecting the new tarp to last at least three years if not longer due to the old tarp protecting it. Very satisfied.

I bought this to protect my lawn underneath an inflatable water slide. Last summer I didnt have any underlayment and the yard ended up a mess because of all the kids running around on the wet grass. Ive only used this once so far but it worked like a charm.

I staked in down with six stakes with zero issue. No tearing. Its worth noting that it is definitely light duty. It feels very thin and it isnt exceptionally waterproof. I wouldnt recommend leaving this outside in the elements for any extended period, especially with any sort of stress on it.

This tarp was just what I expected, in fact a bit heavier than I anticipated. The stitching was done neatly and the eyelets are sturdy at approximate (not exact) two foot spacing. The waterproofing gives it a distinct odor (not offensive, just be aware).

This is exactly what we wanted. Its on my boat right now in central Florida. I will no see it for 9-10 months. It looks really good I just hope a hurricane doesnt visit it!

It appears to be a good value but only the test of outdoor weathering conditions over a period of time will decide if I would buy this product again to rate as a 5 star.

If cheap is what you want, this is what you will get. I purchased this to cover some footer holes I spent 12 hours digging with an auger. I created a little tent with it to keep the water out as it was predicted to rain a few days before I could pour the concrete.

Two days later we got a little rain. Not a thunderstorm with wind or a downpour, just a steady rain. Well the tarp ripped at the eyelets in almost every spot I had it staked down. It was fine until the rain started adding weight to the tarp.

I had to go out in the rain to try an salvage what I could and get it so the water didn’t pour into my footer holes. It was a muddy and wet experience and I was not happy that the tarp didn’t hold up to a little bit of rain.

Save yourself some time and frustration and get something more durable.

I just got back from camping in temperatures between 95-105 F and winds up to 25 MPH. I’m -extremely- impressed with the durability of this tarp. I wove a rope through the grommets around the perimeter of the tarp and secured the tarp by attaching tie-downs to that perimeter rope as opposed to the grommets.

This helped distribute the tension in the wind. Despite the intense conditions, only one grommet started to pull away a little from the tarp. Overall, it’s still in good condition to use again. It’s worth noting that a high desert sun will beat through the tarp.

If you want deep shade, consider doubling up with another tarp or reflective layer.

Wow – If you need a tarp, this is for you. It looks and acts like a regular tarp. Not some Hotty Totty from the private school roofs. No, this is a regular old tarp like grandpa would have liked. And, if you like the color blue, you are in luck.

This one of the bluest tarps that I own. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out some of the great features of this model. In the few short months I’ve owned ol’blue I’ve covered lawnmowers, loaded up pine straw, and made a play house for the kids, all without any modifications to the tarp.

Other models will try to persuade you with “breathable canvass” or “waterproof” but don’t be fooled by their gimmicks. The HFT tarp has got you covered.

I have a 12×26 Canopy and I used these as my side walls. Since they are over sized the tarps work much better for my needs than the factory enclosure kit.

Using tarp for chicken tractor. Let’s light in still but without the heat. Grommets are ok not the best quality but hold up just fine. I do not stretch the tarp and it holds up to wind and rain. I would buy another if anything happened to this one.

Having used numerous tarp and covers for my boat, most only lasting a year or two in direct sunlight and weather, I decided to try this product. I have been very satisfied with it’s durability, ease to clean and strength against heavy wind and snow load.

I have purchase my second cover after five years, not because I need it, but to ensure I have another when I do.

This 4×6 tarp fulfills my intended use which is to provide a shade wall on my 6×6 popup canopy. I have an Ozark Trail 6′ x 6′ Canopy that has a built-in, half-high side wall, but I wanted to shade another side so I wouldn’t need to turn the canopy during the day.

This tarp filled the bill, and is grey/silver so it sort of matches the Ozark Trail canopy. There are 6 grommets all together, one on each corner and one in the middle of each long side. The inner diameter is 12mm (.

47″). There were no defects that I could see; no holes or exposed threads as some reviews point out. A few reviews mention the tarp size is not as described. Tarp sizes are for the most part nominal.

The actual dimensions are shorter. Stretching the tarp out taut it measured 3′ 8″ x 5′ 8″. Many reviews mentioned the thinness of the material. I folded the tarp and measured 8 thicknesses at 41 mils, which comes out to the tarp being about 5 mils thick.

To get an idea of how thick (or thin) that is, 20 lb paper is 3. 8 mils, 28 lb paper is 5. 8 mils. Other reviews comment on how fast the material deteriorates. I usually spray my canopies and other outdoor gear with a UV protectant.

In this case I used 303 Products Aerospace Protectant on the tarp. It’s only been a month since I’ve had the tarp and there have been only a couple of weeks of sunny, 80F temperatures. It’s hardly the test of time.

I suppose I’ll be able to tell more next spring and summer.

I got this to hang in front of my kitchen window to keep the sun out for summertime. I get all the afternoon here till the sun sad and it’s miserable. It is very thin. I needed a 3 x 3 but the smallest you can find is 4 x 6 I managed to cut it and add grommets to make it 3 x 3.

It was cheap and will work for what I need it for, hopefully will hold up. I hung it today for the first time.

It’s a bit thinner than I had expected. More like something I would buy from the Dollar Tree. However I purchased it to use at a yard sale to lay on the ground to put items on so they arent laying directly on the dirt so it will suit my purpose.

However I do not reccomend if you are wanting to trap something like your roof or something you are hauling.

The traps are a good value for what they are. Would prefer they were heavier being they are classed as a commercial product. Like most traps of this nature a year maybe two in the blazing sun and they’ve reached the end of their useful life.

I’ve had many of these before and consider them throw away after that time. Still all and all for the time they last they do the job of protecting your item. Wished they were a little bigger. 12’ is not very large.

I bought these to protect my lumber as I build my garage from the rain. Being there are 2 to a pack helps to fill the bill.

If I have to buy them every year? Then why do I rate them as five-star? I will explain. I have a hot tub outside, and in order to keep the snow out, and to keep the wind down, we put these up every year, the reason why I have to buy them every year, was because I was not reinforcing the sides with rope to stop it from blowing in and out and in turn, it would rip the tarp quite easily.

These are not the cheaper ones that you pay five bucks for, these are actually pretty good. This year the way I have my gazebo set up this will in case the entire hot tub area, with rope going inside and outside of the tarps so it cannot move with the wind.

The wind in Wyoming? Is worse than a politician when they open their mouth. I have not had any problems with these tarps except for what i caused myself.

Heavy duty tarps last a year or more depending on where they’re used. Between hot sun and Santa Ana winds they can take a beating! Have purchased many times and would recommend buying this product.
