20 Best V Mount Battery (2022 Updated)

I’ve got this rigged up on my BMPCC4K rig now and it is one of my new favorites. It’s heavy, sure, but it lets me shoot for hours longer than I could before without stopping to swap the tiny LP-E6s. I love the integrated USB and D-Tap outputs as well.

Only gripe is that the cable on the plate could be longer.

The battery itself is dope. It’s compact, holds at least 6 hours of power for my BMPCC 6K, and fits my build design well. The only knock I have is the design of the V-Mount plate’s blue hinges. The blue hinges on the side do not tighten completely on 15mm rods so the plate will tip over if you do not lean it against either the camera or on top of the rods, which I’ve done.

Smh. For something that costs so much, they should design that piece well too. My advice: Check out SmallRig’s hinges and follow their lead. Otherwise, this battery set is 10/10.

Haven’t had any issues with the battery so far but the v mount plate feels like it’ll break any day now. The rail mounts are so flimsy and bend when you tighten them down (not over tighten) so I’d recommend just buying the battery itself and getting a separate v mount plate to save a headache.

This battery is very fairly priced compared to its competitor. However, I really don’t like the location of the dtap port because it makes it hard to use when it’s on a V-Mount plate. If you pair this with the Condor Blue plate, it’s impossible to use both ports.

Top mount would definitely have been better. My other gripe is that the USB charging capability (while convenient and a huge cost saver) is SO insanely slow. That aside, this is a great solution that really covers a lot of charging options.

That’s why I’m still giving it 4 stars.

Great weight. Fantastic on-screen information. Multiple types of ports. Can be charged via usb c. I’m very happy with the purchase. Although I have only had it for a few days. Time will tell how the charges hold.

This is such a great little battery. USB C means I can charge it with my MacBook charger in the hotel room or I can use the battery to charge my MacBook/iPad/phone etc. when on location. Takes the brick battery concept and makes it even more versatile.

It’s probably been my favorite battery I’ve ever purchased. I have a variety of Anton Bauer batteries, and I was looking for something fairly light that could pack a punch since I do a lot of shoulder rig work.

However, I also can’t be swapping camera batteries too often. This is the perfect mix of elements and love how well it handles. The USB port is a nice feature as well. Highly recommended. One thing to note is I charge with the larger Anton Bauer charging dock, which seems to help track the wear and tear of the battery pretty well.

I try to balance usage among all batteries when possible. My primary camera set-up is a Sony FS7, with an expansion pack, and I will sometimes power an external recorder, either an Odyssey 7Q+ or a Shogun Atomos, with this battery.

These are my go to batteries. They pack a punch and will power a SmallHD 702 bright for 6 hours on a steadicam. The USB outlet comes in handy for so many purposes. I can charge/power an Ambient ACN-CL Lockit on camera or power a small USB 5V portable fan for those really hot days.

The Dtap lets me power a Litepanels brick on location for hours. Don’t need to say much about Anton Bauer Quality and performance. If you have been in the business for a while you already know.

obv great battery from a great company. Love the Ptap and the USB port for using on non gold mount devices. Strong build and lightweight. Best of all they are airline carry one safe.

These are great, but, in my experience so far, they only seem to last about an hour and a half to power a single light. It also takes several hours to fully charge them. Pro: they’re small, you can travel on commercial flights with them, and they’re sturdy.

Not sure how many charges they’ll take but seems dependable after a couple months use three or four times per week.

Such a great and powerful little V Mount batt! It fits well in my water housing and lasts long enough to make a swim out with the rig worth while! I have another one on order! Highly recommend this product if you want a light weight and compact V Mount for your cine rig!.

So let me get this straight. I get two 98w batteries and a dual v-mount charger for $? Yes, please! This is the best deal that I have ever seen for power solutions like this. I was in the market and spoke with a rep.

Since I use v-mount batteries to power my lights and my BMPCC4K, it’s important to have a quick and easy way to recharge my batteries for the next shooting day. This charger is quick and easy to set up.

So, when I want to charge my batteries at the end of a day of shooting, I just pop this out and stick on the batteries, turn it on and I’m done. Considering that this comes with two v-mount batteries makes it a no brainer.

These are long lasting and they aren’t as heavy as I expected them to be. Used them on 4 shoots already without recharging the battery. Powering an Edlekrone Head Plus Pro.

I bought two of these as camera batts for my Sony F5. Depending on the shoot, one batt will last most of the day and I’ll often change over to the second one during a break for the last part of the shoot.

The little LED lights will show that it’s almost out of juice, but the F5 displays the voltage reading and I’ll keep using the battery down to about 13. 5V The battery seems to have a predictable and steady drain.

I’ve been using them now for about 6 months and no surprises. I love the small profile and light weight.

It’s a V mount battery that holds a charge and powers things. Not sure what else it can do! In regards to the person who gave it a 1 star rating because it didn’t include an item that is not listed in the description, well that’s just silly.

I’ve seen those kinds of reviews a lot lately and not sure why they are allowed up. Oh well.

These guys are an awesome size. smaller stack height compared to most v-mounts. Use these on the back of REDs with a handle attached where typical v-mounts run into clearance issues. These guys work like a charm.

Bought this kit to power my Dracast Silver Series Foldable Bi-Color LED 1000’s. Batteries last all the way through a normal interview shoot (a few hours). I like the LED battery level indicators on each battery so I get some idea how much power is left.

They seem to charge pretty fast with this charger as well. For V-Mounts, these batteries are pretty compact and lightweight, which is nice when they have to mount on the light on a light stand. Lastly, maybe the charger doesn’t feel as solid as that major S brand, but doesn’t cost as much, so a good trade-off and it doesn’t affect its performance.

This was the perfect accessory to my Dracast lights. I do a lot of on location video and photos. And running an extension cord from a power adapter just doesn’t say professional. Now I can set up anywhere.

The charge holds for what seems like forever and there is no drop in quality of the LEDs. If you want to be mobile and versatile. I highly recommend getting the batteries.

I have only used these batteries in the field twice, but they have thus far shown themselves to be robust and long-lasting. They are being used with the Dracast LED500 panels and are able to power them at full for over 3 hours.

The charge indicator is so far solid, though a full charge seems to take roughly 3 hours. At least it’s a dual charging system. The V-mount isn’t easy to attach to the panel’s plate, which was not a problem for a set of other V-mount batteries I had rented.

My hope is that these batteries just need to be worked in. Otherwise, I’m quite happy with the purchase.

I have used this system for just over 2 years. I know that because one month after the two year warranty one of the batteries failed. It probably failed before that but it was not being used for a few months and it was only when I needed to put it into use that I absolutely confirmed that one of the three batteries I own would no longer charge.

I had noticed it earlier, but having three batteries I just put another into service. My advice, it is a great system, but you should pay attention to warranty dates of the components.

I purchased a PD-95s to power my Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4k. I picked this battery because of the price—after shelling out for the camera and all the other required accessories, I could not stomach the cost of a brand-name V-Mount battery.

The build and appearance of this battery is great—mounts perfectly on the camera with a V-Mount plate. It has an accurate and easily accessible LED charge indicator, which is a big help when you’re packing and you don’t want to mount each battery to the camera to check it.

It takes a good amount of time to charge up (1-2 hours), but that’s to be expected with any battery of this capacity. Shooting time is excellent—I burn through two CFAST cards long before the battery gets low, and I have so far never been left in the lurch.

It’s hard to judge exact charge duration because each shoot goes so differently, but between passive (camera on but not recording) and active use, this battery lasts at least 3 hours of continuous use.

It does not get worryingly hot or drain at an unpredictable speed. The battery that I originally ordered performed exactly as described above, but I started to notice that it was draining too fast when not in use (after a week sitting, it would always be dead.

) The second one I had bought by that point did not do this, so I called IndiPro customer service was advised to send it in the suspect battery. They tested the battery and sent out my replacement within a day of receiving the one I shipped them.

Not only that, but they answered the phone every time I called and kept me updated by email about the progress of the exchange. With the range of options on the market out there, this is a real bonus to a working cinematographer: no BS; no delay; product replaced promptly and courteously.

Own four of these. Great for powering EVA1, Aladdin All-in-2, Hive 200 C (need two tho), PIX-E5H, Video Assist 12G HDR, Tilta Nucleus M etc. Super reliable. Also picked up a couple IndiPro Tools chargers as well.

I can’t believe I can get this excited over a battery but it’s so small and light that I can’t help loving it. I originally bought it for my camera but find myself using it to chard my computer and my phone more than anything.

I also live the indicator screen which is very helpful.

I have two of these which I use to power BMPCC 4k and 6k cameras via a Tilta pass-through mount on the RS 2, LED lights, and to recharge my phone and tablet. The USB-A, USB-C, and D-Tap outputs are very handy in addition to the v-mount.

Also, airports have not had any issues with them.

The physical size, the weight and the status screen all make for a fantastic power source. I use it with my BMPCC4k and I love that I now have hrs of power but also have a better readout on the status of the battery which is difficult to do with my previous Sony L series batteries.

The answer I received was ‘you get what you pay for. ‘ Bought these packs, they worked well for about 14months and then all of a sudden they can not work when the light is at 100%. Last I checked 100w is only 8amps, and they say their packs can handle 12amps.

Obviously not accurate. I called them up and they said that the light(100w) was too powerful to use consistently and that the battery packs are shutting down as they are getting older. Told me to buy new packs.

By far the worst V-mount batteries and charging set I’ve ever used, as if it was designed to be as worst-performing in every way. It runs louder and hotter than any other, while charging slower. Everything is way bigger than it needs to be as well, all the competitors perform much better with smaller size, while being quieter and cooler.

These batteries can’t hold anywhere close to the advertised capacity.

They work perfectly. I’ve powered my A7sIII for a whole day+ with just one battery. They also balance my rig quite nicely for handheld shooting. I’ve also used them both to power my Aputure 300D for a portrait shooting session for again the whole day.

Zero complaints whatsoever.

I am a filmmaker from the NBA. I bought the battery because it was small and it gave me digital time. When it showed how much battery life was left I thought that it would be great. I only used it seven times and I had it for one year.

The battery stopped working and I sent it back to the company. They told me there was a problem inside of the battery cell. It wasn’t my fault but they told me it passed the warranty date. So, they cannot give me a new one.

I feel like if they knew it was their products fault they should have just given me a new one. I would say, do not buy their batteries. I have cheaper batteries that are still working until this day, which I had for eight years.

These Hypercore NEO 9 Mini v-mounts are small and give me the flexibility I need because I travel quite a bit for my shoots. The 98s are with in the travel airline specs and they last a good while. powering my RED or BMPCC.

I love the sleep feature on it as well. I have 4 of these now.

I could not be more happier to transition from Anton Bauer after almost 30 years to the Core SWX Hypercore Neo 9 Mini 98Wh. I am happy to report that they power my Panasonic S1 along with my Atomos Ninja V for over 3hrs.

Although the transition was initiated with some hesitancy, nevertheless, I am pleased and at ease with the choice.

How would I make it without this amazing product? I can’t believe it took me so long to add batteries to my lighting system. My set up looks so much cleaner and no cords to trip over and wreck my expensive lights! Just realized yesterday there is a wire set of legs that pull out from the bottom so when you put on one battery the thing doesn’t fall over! Brilliant!.

I bought this kit about a year ago and have used the batteries 11 times each. They are now completely dead batteries. AWFUL. I will never buy anything from Dracast again. I have older LION batteries that date to 2007 that still hold a charge better with several cycles on them.

I bought two of the Core SWX HyperCore 150wh batteries. The LCD display on one of the batteries was bad out of the box. The display was there but unreadable. The LCD display on the other battery was fine.

for about 4 uses. Then it went completely blank. The display isn’t crucial. There still the indicator on the side of the battery and my camera has a battery indicator in the viewfinder. But when you buy the battery you are paying for the LCD display and you would expect it to work and to work for the life of the battery.

I doubt that I am the first or the last to experience this. Core is going to need to address the durability of the LCD display. Their batteries cost a premium over other makers. There should be high quality with that premium price.

I’d stay away from these and just save the additional cost that you are paying for an LCD display. Go with a battery that does not have an LCD display. The LCD displays just aren’t durable. Even the displays on the Anton B batteries tend to go out over time.

It stinks to have 2 brand new batteries but to have to inform the assistants working with me that the LCD displays are already dead.

I’ve always owned Anton Bauers, but was surprised by the performance and build quality of these HyperCore 150s. They’re on every set I’m on now, and I’m able to rent them out for the same price as my ABs.

LED screen is working great for me – no issues there. The 2x HyperCore and dual charger was a no-brainer for the price. I also enjoy having the storage mode on these when they’re not playing on a job.

The cheese plate on the back of this is structured in such a way that you can’t screw the 15mm rod clamps into the bottom of the plate without buying a separate $50 accessory. So if you want you battery vertical, it would be cheaper to go with other options.

Just annoying that they didn’t design it for maximum flexibility. What’s the point of the cheese plate if you can’t move the rod clamps?? That said, it’s still a well built plate.

You can mount this in two positions by moving the bracket, but it is not really adjustable. This is fine for me though. Some of the adjustable options in this price point look like they aren’t super robust.

I thought these rail mounts pivoted as many use short rails and tilt up. It would cover the built-in screen, but most videographers seem to use external monitors.

The Good: Small, compact. Holds paper well on a windy day. The Bad: They just simply don’t work at times. This has happened more than once, they are ‘fully charged’, charger indicated full charge on both batteries showing green led, the battery indicator on the battery itself indicated full charge with the 5 green leds lit up.

Went out on set, camera (URSA 12K) powered on for enough time to format the card then totally died. Couldn’t get it back on and battery led was red, indicating 0%. Perplexed, I grabbed the second one, again all fully green, same thing-totally died after powering up for a min or so.

Incredibly frustrating. Really didn’t expect this from Anton Bauer. 2 year warranty should come into play, trying to contact them now. had to leave a message. B&H has been great, however, and offered to let them know if Anton Bauer doesn’t respond.

These batteries have been excellent! They where just released and i was able to use them on various productions so far. I shot an entire music video 7 hours on Komodo with just one! I was so impressed i even remember my AC asking what the percentage was on the battery 3-4 times throughout the day.

We ended up changing the battery at night after shooting all day with one. Super impressed. I even use these to charge my Ronin RS2 when i’m not close to a power outlet. I know AB is the standard and this product is no exception.

I now own 5 of these.

I saw a lot of negative reviews for this battery from people who don’t have the right charger. I do have the correct charger (LP2), so here is a review from someone who actually paid a little bit of attention.

Before I bought the Titons I had some Hypercore 98s, and while they worked great, they felt a little cheap. These on the other hand feel incredible well made. Construction is very solid, and doesn’t have that hollow sound that some other batteries have.

The LCD is clear and easy to read and the D-Tap port feels like it will stand the test of time. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase and will definitely be adding more in the future.
