20 Best Vaccum For Stairs (2022 Updated)

I have two cats who like to kick around their litter everywhere, and by everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE! Conveniently enough, my floors have little grooves in them (to make it look like realistic wood) making it nearly impossible to sweep up with a broom and dust pan.

This was a GAME CHANGER!! It sweeps up all the litter and dirt that gets stuck in my floors, and because it detaches it’s easy to get into harder spots. I even use this on my couch to get rid of hair or “fuzzies” and it has never disappointed me!! I can’t recommend this enough, but especially if you have pets.

Spend the $50, it will save you so much time and effort.

I couldn’t despise a vacuum more than I despise this one. We have had three Shark vacuums before this one. They were all the Navigator, but not the lift away. This model is horrible. The drum fills up with ONE PASS OVER OUR LIVING ROOM AND WE HAVE BRAND NEW CARPET.

Literally, we had our house was built, everything completely new, we have no pets, we don’t smoke, and we bought this vacuum brand new to use in our new house so none of the old “dust and dirt” from our previous home would be transferred to this “new everything” house.

Every single time we use it it smells weird. We’ve cleaned the filters, we clean the drum, we have replaced the filters, all three, it still smells. The way it’s built is so unsteady it falls over at the slightest gust of wind.

Literally I have walked by it too quickly and it’s fallen over. The hose seems like it’d be long but it’s so tight it doesn’t stretch far. I cannot find a single thing about this vacuum I like and that stinks because I am an avid Shark product lover.

Now, as I’m looking for another new vacuum to replace this barely used one that’s garbage all around, my husband doesn’t want to get another Shark because of this one. Not to say I blame him, because I don’t, it’s horrible.

Over the last 7-8 years of having Shark vacuums this one ruined their image and reliability for us both. And that’s after our second one caught on fire and burned my husband’s hand, but they sent us a new upgraded version of that model we had even though it was two years old and pretty worn out, because the reason it caught fire was fixed for the new model they sent us.

So we weren’t even that upset over that entire incident. This whole vacuum in comparison makes me really annoyed they would even sell a product like this.

The Shark – Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum is a good and powerful relatively lightweight vacuum. The cord is long, the handle is a comfortable height, and the vacuum swivels so it’s easy to push and get around furniture.

It has powerful suction and is height adjustable so it works well on different types and lengths of carpet. The roller can be turned off, which is convenient if you want to use it on bare floors or decorative carpeting with long tassels.

Some things that I would have liked more of is on board tools, this only comes with 1 extender crevice tool and 1 little combo duster piece which I don’t know what it’s really called. The dirt cup is an ok size but of course space is taken up by the filter, and It’s easy to empty.

You can remove the whole center section of the vacuum and use it with the hose and extender crevice tool or other tool if you want to vacuum higher places like vents on a wall or ceiling fans, or go up the steps while vacuuming the baseboards, etc.

Easy to use- makes vacuuming seem like less of a chore! It’s been over a year since we got it Oct 2020, and it’s still working just as well as it did the 1st time we used it, which is saying a lot because it has to keep up with the fur of 2 cats and 1 long hair dog that sheds a lot! We’ve gone through a bunch of vacuums, all brand names, thru the years, and this Shark Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum is definitely the best one so far!.

This vacuum is okay. I broke my other Shark Navigator, the NV586 purple one, about a year ago and needed a quick replacement so I thought this one would be just as good. It was not. It was fine but really just not powerful enough to handle my 4 kiddos and two pets.

So I went looking for an upgrade and I am coming back to write a review finally becuase I recently purchased the new Shark Vertex DuoClean (AZ2002) and OMG I never knew what I was literally missing. One single pass over an 8×10 rug and the DuoClean picked up more dirt and hair than any other vacuum I have ever owned.

No exaggeration, I think I picked up years worth of nasty that I had no idea was still in there. As a bonus, it also glides over the hardwood floors picking up everything instead of scattering it like other vacuums and now I am also throwing away my brooms.

After owning three Sharks and one Dyson, I would recommend the DuoClean forever. So the NV360 is fine for single folks with no pets or kids who also don’t need to do hardwood floors, otherwise watch for a sale and snag the new DuoClean.

Does an adequate job. This vacuum does not move a lot of air, but the attachment openings are small, which mostly offsets the low flow volume. As a result, this vacuum is not a good choice for weighty detritus – it just doesn’t have the suction or air speed to pick up heavier materials.

The smaller attachments cover very little surface area, so it’s not a good choice for big spills, either. It does great on pet hair & dander, cat litter, dust & other lightweight materials though. The new Pet Power Brush attachment is a definite improvement over previous revisions.

You’re not required to clean the brush after every use to released trapped hair. The Power Brush is powered by the vacuum’s internal battery, so using it will consume more battery, but I’ve yet to have an issue with the battery running out, even during extended use.

The quick release bagless design is an improvement over older models that required filter bags, though the compartment is quite small. Once again, this vaccum is not intended for large areas or large volumn jobs.

My only real complaint is the location of the power button. During normal use, that is where my index finger prefers to rest for stablization while reaching with the vacuum. I’ll turn it off 20 times during a small job.

I’m sure the power switch will wear out long before any other component, at least for me.

From the start this vacuum was a disappointment. Having a Shark upright, I thought this would be powerful. It paled in comparison to my 10 year old dyson handheld (which cost more to get a new battery than this unit).

Even after a full charge, it was okay for extremely light duty. Basically it’s only good to pickup up ground coffee and almost doesn’t do that well. The actual “breaking point” for me was the ill fitting attachments.

The most basic attachment, the “crevice” tool is too big for the weak plastic it goes into. After using that part (which is way too small a tool anyway), it cracked the plastic. The replacement part is the “dust cap” and can be purchased for $15.

95 from Shark. I bought it. and the same thing happened again. Even at the low part price, It’s almost wasn’t worth fixing this vacuum just to get it back to its disappointing performance level the first time.

Now with tax and shipping a second one would have me paying close to half the original value. Perhaps it’s time to move on.

This is the best small vacuum I have ever purchased that has cleaned so much so fast without having to switch heads or parts. Plus you can empty it via press of a button and clean it so easily by clicking another button and having it pull apart so easily.

Has made my life so simple cleaning my two small rugs all over my bathroom the cat litter that gets everywhere the big and small spills on my floor it’s super lightweight and holds a charge for my every need and it’s small and compact to store it easily it has the perfect suction power for such a small price compared to any dirt devil or small vacuum I’ve ever bought before.

Perfect choice and because it’s cordless you can even take it on the go with you and clean your car or even have it with you randomly and help out a friend or family with their messes as well it’s the convenience that practically pays for itself! Love love love it! Must buy another one and it makes the perfect gift! I’m a pet owner and it’s the best helper, for all my cat hair/litter needs!!.

Unlike some other similar designs/brands, you dont have to hold a button to keep the vacuum running. No going to the cupboard to get your pull along vacuum cleaner, unwinding the cord, bending down to plug it in, then unplugging and re plug in your cord because youve run out of lead.

No getting frustrated because the cord is caught on something. Just the thought of having to go through all that, is why I hate vacuuming until I bought the Samsung Jet 90 Complete. Its stands there in a convenient place and when you want to vacuum 24/7, it doesnt become a chore.

My floors are always clean. The parts are easily interchangeable. The roller is bigger than some other brands which is another reason why I bought this brand as I think it is less likely to scratch my polished floors.

The suction is more than what I require. I had my heart set on another well known brand, the clincher was not having to hold down a button while vacuuming and the large roller. Now, I am SO HAPPY with my purchase.

If I had to replace it, I would buy another one. I wanted to use this vacuum cleaner for at least a month before writing a review. All I can say is that it is a must have. I actually love to vacuum now.

Just buy one, you wont be disappointed.

Potential buyers I recommend that you try unit on the thickest carpet that is available in the shop showroom and watch the head slow and stall. The unit will work fine on most commerical “no pile” carpets as can be found in shop show rooms or cheap builders carpet but beyond that it will fail.

The unit worked fine in the shop on the no pile carpet however when we got home and went to us it the motorised head stalled on our rug and on our bedroom carpet both of which have 6-8mm pile. We went back to showroom and they attempted various fixes to no avail.

The salesperson then tried their display unit on the a plush carpet/rug in their showroom and their display unit did the same thing the motorised head slowed and stalled and the red error light started flashing on the head piece.

This renders the unit useless as it will not pick up pet hair or sand from you carpet. Another issue with these units is the lack of availability to get a spare removable filter, Samsung’s website doesn’t sell them and the stores cannot get them.

The store was only able to get this by contacting the local Samsung company rep who also struggled to obtain this.

Having decided to purchase a cordless vacuum, we were debating between obtaining a Dyson (due to reputation) or a Bissell (we own a corded vacuum of theirs and like it). To our own surprise we landed on the Samsung VS90.

We’re glad we did. This vacuum is a joy to use as it is light and can be manoeuvred as we please. It’s suction power is sufficient enough that we haven’t used it on maximum power yet. That in turn lends itself to a great battery life – we live in a four bedroom house and we are able to vacuum the entire place on one charge.

The charging station looks great too. The fact that it can stand by itself without having to be wall mounted is so convenient. We didn’t know too much about Samsung’s reputation for cleaning products prior to this purchase but we’re glad we bought the VS90.

The third vacuum I tried, and the one I kept. Liked more than the other two much more expensive and better rated ones, one was another Kenmore that was almost double the price and the other was a $700 Miele.

This one has everything I was looking for – the best type of HEPA filtration (the bag itself, so you’re not dealing with a dirty compartment either), powerful suction, and true ease of use. Inslsi appreciate that it’s lightweight.

As a bonjmus it doesn’t show wear and tear easily either. I don’t love how spread apart the bristles are on the brushroll on the floor piece – it seems like that would cause things to get left behind – but when I vacuum my carpets I’m not actually seeing things getting left behind so maybe it’s fine.

Overall decently happy with the purchase at the $140 sale price. This model is almost identical to the BU4022 being sold for $200. It’s just too bad Target no longer seems to have any more in stock – I had recommended it to family members.

This has been a great vacuum. It cleans the carpets very well. Its more compact width makes for easy manuvering which also makes getting around a room easier as it’ll fit in lots of places a wide width would not.

I’ve had a lot of vacuums, and everytime I go baggless, I’m sorry I did. Bagless just makes a mess when emptying- and I’ve owned the top rated models. Bagged is quick and clean- zero mess inside or on the unit.

No filters to wash either. If you have allergies- bagged just makes common sense. This units shortcoming is the hose- it won’t reach far when it’s on, so it’s only good for easy to reach dusting etc.

I can use it for quick cleaning around the washer dryer, the dryer lint trap and other quick jobs. I have top rated bagged canister that I use when I need it. Overall, easy to recommend.

Do NOT buy this vacuum cleaner. If it could be rated 0, that’s what it would have got. (Summary: ours broke before we’d owned it for two years, and it can’t be repaired. We have a James hoover that we bought over a decade ago and it’s still going strong.

Buy them instead. ) We bought a Jet 90 Pet in September 2020. We did a lot of research into which cordless vaccum to buy, as we wanted to get something that would work well and last a long time. The Jet 90 seemed well-reviewed so we decided to save up for it.

It was much more expensive than most of our homecare purchases but we were confident it would last. We’d had it for fewer than two years before the cleaner broke. It had been handled all that time with proper care, as we wanted it to last.

Despite that the motor came away from the handle, in a way that seems to me as if it was a case of poor manufacture, or even built-in obsolescence. I contacted Samsung customer support and was informed that I would have to send the cleaner to Manchester for repair, at our expense.

(I asked to be called back by a Samsung customer service manager as I wanted to complain about the quality of the item. It was arranged for a call to be made to me. I didn’t receive a call when the set time came.

I did, however, get a call two days later than arranged, during my work day, when I couldn’t answer. This hasn’t made me feel more positively inclined towards the company. ) I took the cleaner to a local repair shop to see if it could be repaired but we’ve been informed that the nature of the break – the motor coming away from the handle housing – means that this isn’t possible.

Bottom line – though I was pleased with it at first I cannot now recommend this product at all, and will not be buying Samsung products again in the future. This was one of the most expensive items we’ve ever purchased and two years later it’s completely useless.

(By contrast a James hoover that we bought over a decade ago is still working fine. I’d suggest going to them, if you want something that’ll last. ).

I don’t normally write product reviews, but I’ve been so happy with this vacuum I’ve decided to take the time to do so. I didn’t get the Jet expecting it to replace my current “drag along” vacuum, but rather as something easy to get out quickly to clear up spills and such.

After having the Jet for a few weeks now, I’ve been amazed at how good it is. I have stopped using my old vacuum completely!! I was sceptical about how good the suction could be on something that weighs so little, but I was wrong to be.

The suction is so powerful I rarely need to use full power mode! I was doubtful if the battery would last long enough for me to vacuum downstairs or upstairs in one go, but it can almost do both! The whole vacuum has obviously been well thought out during the design process as the Jet is comfortable to use when vacuuming as it doesn’t require a trigger to be held in continuously as I’ve seen when looking at other brands.

The maintenance is also simple as the bin is easy to remove and can be completely washed (as can the filters). I can’t recommend the Jet 60 highly enough, my only regret is not getting it sooner.

First off I love the idea of this vacuum specifically the clean stashon. Okay let’s start with the good, it was a nice looking vacuum that was easy to assemble. Okay now the bad it just doesn’t clean like it should.

This vacuum cleaner is not up to par with my old v11. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and both hard wood and mid and high carpets with some rugs. I gave the house (one room the dogs and cats like to chill in) 2 weeks of no vacuuming and got to work I used medium settings (at first) and cleaned half the room.

I was still able to get some hair to move out of the carpet with my foot. Then used my old dyson v11 on the other half of the room on medium setting (same as the jet 90) and boy did it do a much better job I was unable to get any hair up with my feet and the carpet felt fluffy again.

I moved to the jet 90 again and decided to use the high setting. First off it started to clean way better this go so I figured it was just way to much hair for it on medium settings, and that was fine I had picked up a backup battery just for this reason.

The vacuum said I had roughly 9 minutes (plenty for the room) and as I was vacuuming the head just up and stopped! I turned it off thinking it was clogged up or something and found nothing started it up and was working fine then it happened again 3 more times (replaced the battery with the fully charged one too).

Finally got the room looking good but the carpet didn’t feel as good as the side I used my old dyson on so grabbed my v11 on medium setting again and got almost a full bin. I decided that I must have a defective unit and contacted Samsung after a couple of days I received a reply that and I quote “hello I’m sorry you are having trouble with you vacuum but we are here to help.

I see you are using the turbo action brush on high settings and that is the issue the Samsung jet 90 is designed to use the motorized cleaning tool on all settings the Turbo Action head is only designed to work with low and medium settings only that is why the Turbo Action head kept stopping.

I hope this answers your question and if you would still like more information about the Samsung jet 90 it’s available on our website thank you” I was shocked that was my reply so I’m taking it all back and returning it.

I work full time and run an animal rescue. I needed a strong vacuum for the intake room and had NO time to put something together. To my surprise the unit literally snapped together! It also has a button to turn the broom off which I LOVE (makes me wonder about those reviews that said the broom quit, it’s not advertised on box only instruction guide).

Also, those reviews that say it filled up fast. I believe it was designed for a small area and for that it works perfect! Thank you for making my life easier!.

It was very difficult to put together, the instructions explained nothing. When I finally got it to work, the vac was lame, difficult to use, won’t maneuver under furniture. Spend a few dollars more and get a decent vac.

I can’t return it because it’s used just from trying it out.

I bought this to replace a 2-in-1 stick vacuum thats handle broke. I bought the Dirt Devil Express Lite because not only was it lightweight for me to handle, had a removable hands free dust buster, it also had a roller brush I can use for area rugs and gets in the edges of the carpet along the wall.

The price was about the same as the one I had with less features, so it was a great value for the price. After putting it together I realized it also has another valuable feature. The filter is rubber and can be rinsed to get rid of dust.

No nasty cioth filter that never gets clean and holds odors. I have respiratory condition and this will keep my house dust free! I am so excited to have such a powerful, yet lightweight sweeper. It will meet all my needs!.

For years, I had always gotten a Kenmore canister because we have hardwood with area rugs. I decided to give this vacuum a try. The pluses are: lightweight, love the way the bags insert, the floor attachment is more narrow so fits under things much easier (so I don’t have to move the couch!), very, very quiet (we have a son with sensory issues, so this is much better), and good suction.

Negatives: I miss having the on off and carpet/floor switches on the actual handle and I do have to clean the hair (we have pets) from the carpet attachment occasionally as it does build up and the exhaust comes out the top which is ok, but I often am getting a breeze and I have allergies so something I do have to remember to avoid.

However, overall I am really pleased with the vacuum and the kids like it better to use (which is a plus) over the old Kenmore we had. I do recommend this vacuum as it is small, light, but is powerful.

If you like using a canister vacuum or are thinking of getting rid of a heavy upright or other vacuum, then this is the one to purchase if it meets your cleaning needs. I’ve had other much more expensive Miele canister models in the past with more bells and whistles, but as far as suction goes, every Miele canister vacuum has the same motor.

I found this particular Miele model was the lightest and smallest Miele canister vacuum I’ve used making it extremely easy to operate and store and pull out whenever I need it for even the smallest of messes.

I’ve done a ton of research on many brands and many different Miele models before making this purchase. When choosing the correct Miele canister vacuum it is all about your home and your cleaning needs.

This model is perfect for hardwood floors and low-pile to mid-pile carpeting/rugs and everything above the floor. I’m pleasantly surprised how well the air driven turbo carpet nozzle cleans and how easy and light it is to push around on area rugs and wall-to-wall carpeting.

Although the turbo nozzle isn’t as wide as an electric power nozzle or upright vacuum’s cleaning path, the turbo nozzle also has a great benefit of allowing it to reach in tight places like between chairs under beds and in-between many tight places and furniture.

I recommend opening the air flow valve on top of the turbo nozzle and setting the motor speed dial on the canister NOT to the highest level when using the turbo nozzle on carpets and rugs. I have a cat and with these settings, the turbo nozzle really does a great job of picking up dirt and cat hair on my carpets & rugs and with minimal pushing and pulling effort on my part.

For bare floor cleaning, use the included bare floor tool with the motor speed dial on the canister to the highest level. I find this Miele canister vacuum model is extremely easy to operate and works well if you use the correct settings.

It is true that an electric powered carpet nozzle offered on other higher-end more expensive Miele canisters might work better for certain jobs, but with low-pile and mid-pile carpets like the ones I have and living in a relatively small home, this model is perfect choice for us and cleans extremely well.

Also keep in mind that Miele models with the electric power nozzle have much heavier hoses, heavier hose handles that are awkward for above the floor cleaning/dusting, heavier carpet nozzles, and heavier wands that make cleaning more difficult because of the weight (especially when cleaning above the floor or carrying the vacuum to multiple floors).

You will not have weight issues with this model. The only cons I have for this model is that even though it is a lower-end Miele canister with less bells and whistles than other Miele canister models is that it is still a Miele and it is kind of expensive, however you do get what you pay for and that is quality I can feel with every use and hopefully this quality will last for years (I believe the motor has a 7 year warranty from Miele).

Also, the cord could be longer, the bags could be bigger and less expensive (however, I would never go with a bagless vacuum again because of the mess and dust seeping back into the air. Miele bags are of the highest quality), and it would be nice if the tools had a place for storage inside the canister, but this might make the weight of the vacuum heavier so I can easily live without on-board tool storage.

Overall, I’ve tried and owned many other types of vacuums including bagged and bagless uprights / canisters with and without electric power nozzles, stick vacuums, and a central vacuum that was built into a house I once owned.

By far, this has been the lightest and easiest to use vacuum I’ve owned and it far exceeds all of my cleaning needs and the canister is totally sealed locking in all of the dust and allergens (A sealed Miele is really terrific if you have allergies or don’t want dust to resettle on your furniture after cleaning).

At one time all Miele vacuums were made and assembled in Germany and that always meant great quality. Although this model is assembled in China, parts and design are from Germany. If you have multiple pets, a large home, lots and lots of wall-to-wall carpeting, and carpeting that is shag or high-pile, then this Miele model may not be for you.

I have had this Vacuum 4 years. I know several others who have them, one has lasted over 15 years. For those of you who say it does not pick up pet hair I would suggest you use the powerhead with brush on it.

You do and should check the roller every couple months and cut away anything wrapped around roller for optimum function. I never use anything but that whether carpet or hardwood floors. I have two cats who shed , so does a friend, picks up all of it and this little gem is powerful.

I have no problem with it effectively picking up pet hair. The extension on the wand is an excellent part of the design, and well used.

This is a fantastic vacuum. Hands down, the best vacuum I’ve ever owned. It’s got great options for how to best approach the many different areas you need to clean. The only issue I’ve found with it so far is that it is no match for baking soda.

I used baking soda on a portion of my carpet to deodorize it, and I’ve never seen a vacuum handle something so terribly. It got a bunch of it up and then all the filters clogged and it started spewing baking soda out through the hepa filter.

I had to rinse all the filters (no big deal) and now I’m spending a significant amount of time trying to get all the baking soda out of the many many crevices it’s somehow trapped in. I have no idea, it’s comical how poorly this vacuum performed with baking soda.

Maybe I asked too much of it! Regardless, a great vacuum, that’s really easy to take apart and clean if the need arises. I just wouldn’t recommend asking it to deal with baking soda.

This is our second Shark vacuum. We loved our first, but I was having to give it a “hair cut” often. With 3 girls with long, thick hair in one household equals a lot of hair getting vacuumed and wrapped around the brush.

This new Shark vacuum has a different brush that is more of rubber paddles that really don’t get all wrapped up. Unboxing and assembly was very easy and straight forward. The directions were clear and it went together in just a minute.

I love that you can take the tank portion off and just walk around with that and use the hose. So nice to get into hard to reach places. The different suction options are also very handy for different flooring-hardwood, short pile carpet, long pile carped, etc.

We have 3 floors of different styles of flooring, and this has been a very convenient tool.

This is hands down the best vacuum I have ever owned. It has amazing suction power. I used it on my carpet after I used my old vacuum and was amazed at the dirt, dust and hair it picked up. I have long hair and and a dog and have no issues with it getting wrapped around the brush or clogging.

It was so easy to put together. It came with picture instructions and all you have to do is snap it together. The detachable canister and tools are great feature. It works great on my stairs and furniture.

This vacuum is so versatile with suction control and hardwood to carpet feature. I have hard wood floors and different styles and thicknesses of carpet. It is so easy to transition from on to the other with a flip of a button and the swivel head makes it so easy to maneuver around.

I absolutely recommend this vacuum.

Powerful vacuum, almost too much on carpets (you need to let air in with the controllable nozzle to avoid pulling everything). The only major flaw in the design is that the tube attached to the canister does not freely rotate.

This means that if you make a turn, you may end up squeezing the flexible tube and it is not easy to readjust easily. It can be frustrating because you need to make sure the tube is always coming straight from the canister.

The other small issue is that the cable could be a few feet longer. Otherwise, quite happy for the price.

Buying another vacuum other than the D brand was a big leap for me. I happened to see the Air Ram in a warehouse on line catalogue and it was on sale. Knowing that I can always return if I was not happy with its performance, I bought it.

The best decision I ever made. I use it to quick clean the kitchen. I used it to clean the boat carpet. Really great vac for the small spaces of a boat. It is light enough that it is easy to transport.

It reaches under the furniture. I can see very fine dust that are collected. It truly lifts the fine dirt in the boat carpet. I vacuumed the carpet in the boat repeatedly until the fine dust particles were barely showing in the dust collector.

The battery held up until it had to be charged. One thing great among its great features is the battery can be charged separate from the vacuum. I will give this vacuum 7 stars. I am considering purchasing other Bissel vacuum cleaners to replace my 2 current Dyson vacuum cleaners which were already discontinued since it has been a few years since I bought them.

Indeed I bought the handheld Bissel vacuum in the last 3 months. Short lived battery life but performs for quick cleans in the boat and small spaces. Good enough for the purpose I bought it for. Conclusion it is a joy to clean if the appliance performs.

Air Ram performs to my great satisfaction.

We’ve bought a new vacuum for home every two years like clockwork for nearly 20 years, always looking hard for something that really works well for more than a year. Two years wouldn’t be too bad if it weren’t for the fact that the second year for every one one of those vacuums was nearly useless.

We effectively had a very useless, very foul smelling vacuum at home half of the time for 20 years. I don’t mind spending a few hundred dollars for a good vacuum, but even at over $300, we never found one that really kept working well for more than two years at the most.

At best, they worked badly at two years, and at worst they just stopped working completely before two years were up. This vaccum is the first one that has lasted and continues to last and work well. On top of that, it’s cordless, light, and rechargeable, which my wife especially appreciates.

It’s so small that it easily fits in the corner of a room, out of the way until it’s needed, but quickly accessible when it is needed.

I am very tall (6ft) and I have a ton of back issues. The handle is a good height I do not have to hunch over, I love the lay flat option to get under the kitchen chairs and TV stand. The swivel on the steering is awesome,I really do love love love this vacuum.

I’ve had it for just over a year, holds a charge very well, the circle light indicator is a great reminder when I put it back in. I use this vacuum on average 4-5 x per week. I pull it out for just about anything ever a quick sweep to catch dust bunnies.

I’ve used this on thick high carpet in a fully carpeted 1bd apartment and now I use it in a 2bd room hardwood home w/ area rugs. I also have a small chihuahua with shot hair. I also make soap so often I have soap shavings everywhere.

This can handle just about anything even my long hair fall out and it’s easy to clean.

Great cordless vacuum at a reasonable price. Great flexibility with the B D common 20V battery – can be used for your power drill, small chain saw, hedge trimmer, vacuum and many other items. Suction (on hi) is great and acceptable on med and lo – but I use hi most of the time.

The motorized head really pulls hair (I have 2 big dogs) out of the carpet. The combination of the great suction and the motorized head make this a workhorse. The rotating brush in the head can be easily turned off – making the unit great on wooden floors with very limited fidgeting with attachments.

The waste canister is a bit small (if your house has the amount of sand and dog hair mine does) and fills fairly fast – but since this unit doubles as a hand held ‘dust vac’, a small canister makes sense.

Without the motorized head, the ‘straight’ nozzle has great reach for on top of window trim, door sills, kitchen cabinets, corners of the ceiling and corners of the wood floor. All the power does deplete the battery in about 20 – 30 minutes.

Recharging with the supplied charger does take hours. The solution is easy – but not cheap: buy an extra battery or 2 and get the B D ‘quick charger’ that charges the battery in less than half the time.

Shop around – you’ll find the batteries and charger on a sale that makes them a reasonable investment (I have found the B D batteries to have a long usable life and use them a lot – none has failed me in 2 years of use).

Additionally, get an extra filter or 2 – as a clean filter keeps the suction good and then you can clean/wash one while using the spare(they need to dry before reuse). The vacuum appears well constructed and has all the functions I need.

The flexibility of the 20V battery on other B D house/yard/shop tools gets you great value from the total product line. This is a great cordless vacuum. It rivals a corded unit and its only drawbacks are the battery life (when run on hi with the motorized head) and the smallish waste canister – both of which can be addressed fairly quickly.

I’ve owned several cordless stick vacuums and was very impressed by it. But after less than a month, I’m about to return it. Here’s why: 1) the battery doesn’t have the life promised. IF I decide to keep it, I’d want a second battery.

2) it does a nice job of collecting pet hair BUT it gets caught up in the filter and my fingers can’t reach it to pull it out. B&D should provide a tool or brush with which to remove it. It’s recommended to wash it out monthly but I have to do it each time I use it in order to remove this trash.

3) this morning I vacuumed up some bread and cracker crumbs. But when I lifted the vacuum, much of those crumbs fell out , meaning the machine did not send them to the collection bin. I vacuumed them a second time and again they fell out.

4) anything close to a wall or furniture will not be picked up. Now I do like several features of it. It’s lightweight, love the LED lights, maneuvers well.

I installed 3/4″ darkwood maple in our home. Looked great, BUT. the dark stain shows every spec of dust and dirt. Bought a KARCHER Stick mop, but it didn’t have the vacuum ability. So I gave it away, after I found B&D made this Powerseries which works with my other 20V MAX tool products.

All of my 20V MAX tools have been great. Shopped online and found this vacuum for a good price. Some of the reviewers complained about the dust container falling off, so I was a little nervous. It works great at cleaning the wood floors.

We use Hi power setting, and the dust container DOES NOT fall off. It sucks up a lot of stuff, so I have to dump it after almost every use. I also meticulously clean the filter at the top of the dust container.

It catches and filters a bunch too. Here’s a few cool things: 1) the light on the vacuum head is AWESOME 2) It’s pretty easy to pop a button to make this unit a small little hand vacuum (of course you lose the light) 3) I set up the wall charger and it is a nice feature for our home to use this quickly and then put it away and charge.

It slides right onto the holder and begins charging. Since we use the Hi power setting with brush, the battery lasts about long enough to do one floor of our two floor home. We’re ok with this. I do have more batteries for my other 20V MAX tools, but one floor at a time works.

I now own FOUR 20V MAX tools – Love that the batteries fit them all, each product does a great job, and the price point is way better than average for the quality.

I am not one to be so critical for reviews, normally I write off the one star reviews myself, but this vacuum is awful. We received it today, and tested it out on an area rug that had pet hair on it.

Unfortunately this vacuum didn’t pick up much of anything in the canister, but instead about 5 years worth of hair wrapped around the beater bar. Seriously. 5 minutes of vacuuming on an 8’x10′ area rug and I had to cut the hair off of the beater bar because it wouldn’t turn anymore.

I switched back to our shark Apex to finish the rug and it cleaned as much as it usually does, which tells me this vaccum doesn’t do a proper job of cleaning. For what it’s worth, the apex has a brush roll that I’ve never once in two years had to remove hair from.

I picked this one up because our house is 100% wood floor and it was a huge draw seeing the beater bar could be turned off on this vacuum. Shark products are typically awesome, in my experience, but this one just doesn’t do a good job.

I removed most of the hair from the bar and didn’t have to empty the canister, then I packed it back up to return it. I’ll keep looking, I guess.

I bought this hoover after reading all the reviews and I can honestly say I made the best decision to buy it. It is so easy to use and has great suction. I love it being cordless as it has enough charge to do my stairs, hall and 2 bedrooms on one charge.

It glides easily and the separation of the top part to do the stairs is easy to do and makes stair hoovering more enjoyable. All the tools it comes with are great for doing ceiling/corner cobwebs, couch, fabrics and car with bonus of no plug needed as no cable.

Easy to empty and handy with the wall mount as keeps it all tidy but accessible to use daily. Positive comment – my son actually hoovers his room now as he likes the ease of hoover. It has great suction, easy to use, I can hoover anything with attachments and does a lot on one charge.

Good storage for hoover and all tools. Just a few negatives but only for certain people: when separating top to hoover stairs it is slightly heavy to hold and if like me your wrists are not strong it can be a little uncomfortable so I take breaks and put it down.

Also as you have to keep the button held down again if you do not have strength can be tiring on hands holding one position for a while and again I rest and stretch my hands/wrists out every so often.

The motorised heads don’t have anti wrap hair technology so you need to keep on top of removing hairs unfortunately. Having said all that would definitely recommend this hoover and as my first stick cordless hoover I have purchased thought it was worth money and love it.

This thing clogs after cleaning a 6×8 carpet in a home with 1 small short-hair cat. The dust flies everywhere when I open the hatch and there is invariably dust stuck up around the top of the canister that I have to pull out by hand.

Or I can release the whole canister, which is already dusty from opening the hatch. You can’t just take off the canister, which would probably be less messy, you have to open the hatch at the bottom first which makes the handle and everything you touch dusty.

Gross gross gross. The charge lasts for 2 rooms (13×15) max, but I have to stop multiple times to empty the nasty canister. I feel like I need a shower after I vacuum. The furniture attachment stopped working after a year, but we were able to take it apart, fiddle around and get it working again.

There’s no way to just turn the vacuum to on, you need to hold the button the whole time, which is a bit tiring. But mostly, I hate this vaccum because it’s dirty, inconvenient and the suction isn’t as good as my corded Kemore.

Why or why did I give it away? It had such better suction, lasted indefinitely and wasn’t dirty. It was just bigger, which since my apartment is small was unideal. But unideal is 1000x better than horrible.

I loathe this vacuum. It makes me angry every time I use it.

I’ve had this product for about 2 months now, and I’m delighted I bought it. It is 100% worth the money. I live in an apartment with 3 flights of carpeted stairs up to the main area and 2 carpeted bedrooms, plus I have 3 cats who spend most of their time grooming themselves on those stairs, so this vacuum was facing a big task.

It has handled it perfectly, the motorised head picks up any cat hair and fluff ingrained into the carpet with ease. The max suction is great for stuff that’s really worked it’s way in and I found myself using that setting a lot for the first few days when I was getting at things my old vacuum couldn’t, but I generally use the normal setting now and it’s more than enough.

All of the attachments, filters etc are really easy to remove and clean. The vacuum charges faster than I expected, and the battery life is good. Its perfect for cleaning the car too, the crevice tool is great for getting in to the sides of your seats etc.

The only thing I can think dyson could improve would be offering a back up battery that can be charged separately and switched out in newer models (if they haven’t already), as I do have to do my stairs and the rest of the house in two separate charges, but I do think most standard 2 story houses would get a good daily clean from one charge.

All in all I’d definitely recommend this vacuum, especially if you have pets. It’s so worth the money!!.

After having the vacuum around a month, cleaning is less of a chore, having to plug in the old unit (standard style vacuum) felt more difficult, and then connecting attachments via the extendable hose was never truly easy.

With this vacuum we simply grab it as required and then do a weekly all over clean. Connecting the attachments is easy and the head automatically adjusting to different surfaces is very handy, we mainly have carpets except for the kitchen and bathroom.

There is a 3 step selector to increase or decrease the standard roller head suction and 3 modes of power (eco, std, boost). Even my daughter now cleans her room with the smaller roller head as it will get around much better than the old full size vacuum.

Emptying the cleaner is easy but whatever attachment is on the unit must be removed first, my only concern is if the mechanism will become more worn due to always having to be clipped and un-clipped.

If hair gets tangled further inside the unit, that can also be opened easily, although putting it back is slightly trickier but not hard. The wall holder and charger are well designed and make regular use of the cleaner more likely, the smart charger is always on and should keep the battery at optimum.

The battery indicator automatically adjusts the remaining use time dependent on the surface being cleaned (heavy pile carpet will cause more resistance to the roller therefore using more power) Overall very happy with the Vacuum, all well made and thought out.

The first point we we make is that most of the ‘positive’ reviews are from customers who have not owned one for very long! Wait a couple of years (i. e. until the ‘guarantee’ has run out!) then see how you feel about it! Like other customers we have read on here – and other review sites – ours starting playing up just after the 2 year guarantee had expired.

And like many other ‘negative’ reviewers it was the ‘trigger’ that became temperamental at first and has now ceased working altogether – and the machine won’t take a charge now either. We called the Support number to be advised that our only option was a replacement “main body assembly” at £85 – but we then got cut-off somehow, so I called back and went through the entire process again to be told that the part we need is not available in stock! But this time we were given another option – have the machine collected to be serviced and repaired as necessary by Dyson for £79 – plus any parts that would be required including the replacement main body assembly at £85! Utterly shameful! For £600 you expect to get something that will be robust and long-lasting.

When Dyson were entirely “Made in Britain” they were excellent – but now they are absolute rubbish. This is the second we have had since they are no longer ‘British Made’ – the first was appalling and we were only drawn to this second one by the fact that we didn’t find anything any better when we first looked around and by ‘customer reviews’ which we now understand are largely written by people who havn’t owned one for long enough! Our 2 and a bit year old Dyson v11 is now consigned to ‘landfill’ (which in itself rankles and we are extremely disappointed about!) – we will take our time this time around to find something better and will NEVER buy a Dyson again!.

At first we nearly returned our V11 Absolute having been annoyed with the fact there is no clickable on/off switch. Having to hold down the power button is tiresome when doing the full house. This combined with the weight of the vac does put a lot of pressure on your trigger finger causing discomfort after 5 minutes.

Fine for a couple of mid-30 year olds like us but for anyone suffering from arthritis I’d highly advice buying something else! I guess the another gripe would be you have to lay the whole thing down when you stop as there is no locked upright position like the Shark cordless have.

But this was expected from a Dyson cordless handheld. Everything else is great, the suction perfect, ease of emptying great, cleaning the filter simple and fast! Holds loads of waste, tool options, charging time, mounting on the wall with ease, can vac a 4 bed detached house with 10 minutes to spare on the battery.

It is a life changer for family with young kids too! Thanks Dyson – but please fix the on/off switch as it’s so annoying and you will lose sales for just this one gripe. We only didn’t return it as there wasn’t a strong contender.

Shark just don’t have the customer service Dyson has either! I’ve had broken parts in the past replaced with next day delivery for free – no quarrels.

My belief – this is a good vacuum which will work well for some. The problem I had is ‘inadequate attachments’ need for versatility. It really gives you a rather klutzy poor design floor-rug tool. It needs a robust brush tool with bristles for hard surface floors.

The one it has is more ‘a small strip with ting bristles that keep it from scratching the floor The floor brush’ tool needs to be more substantial and with a robust brush. It has no upholstery or crevice tools it has an inadequate tool that is tiny brush tool.

The receptacle tank for the dirt is quite small. I suspect it was this way so that it enhances a more powerful suction action but I am not an engineer to know this. It would help to have a bigger tank.

I could not adapt the many attachments I already have from many Vacuums I have because pipe size is unique to this vacuum. I have used an older Eureka The Boss Mighty Mite. It was a terrific powerful vacuum with the normal attachments.

Eureka is still a trusted maker and I wished it had the attachments I must have for a more versatile use.

Would be a great vacuum for someone with a small home, they only use this on. I’m not a fan of it because I used it for about 2 weeks and it seriously lost suction in that time. I have to clean it after EVERY room and make sure the filter is perfectly clear for it to have just a bit of the suction it started with.

Hopefully I just received a dud and it’s not like this for everyone else who purchases it. I do love the size and convenience of this vacuum, it’s very portable and rolls very easily across any floor, I also love that the attachment is already on the handle and all you have to do is pull it down to use it.

It would be great for someone who doesn’t have pets and won’t use it as often as I do.

I like the product. It works very good in suction and easy cleanup. I like the adjustable extension hose. We use a paper clip to clip the extension to prevent it from retracting on its own.

I’ve researched this for a carpet cleaner I received second hand, and the notches to secure this brush we’re broken so it did not stay on well without tape. Researching the manufacturer website, this item cost three times as much therefore a simple brush head.

So glad I found it here and I can continue to use the carpet cleaner.

I’m going to touch on every aspect of this product that I can think of. First of all, the suction power is pretty impressive, especially for a battery operated vacuum. I’ve used it to clean up food messes after kids and it held up well (our table sits over a rug on carpet).

The automatic suction power adjustment feature is nice and works well. The one problem I have with it is that you can only turn the power to auto or high. There’s no manual low power option. The high suction is shrill and sometimes I don’t really need it and want to turn it off but I can’t unfortunately.

Emptying could use some improvement. I’ve dealt with stick vacuums and am used to one handed “click to empty” operation. To empty this vacuum, you have to remove the dust bin, remove the filter, empty, and reassemble in reverse order.

The battery life is decent, but since you can’t set the suction to manual low power, it’s variable. It all depends on how long it ran on high power. Charging takes a while, but that’s expected. Storage is where I have the biggest issue.

The vacuum is supposed to stand straight for storage. It does stand, but not so straight, to the point that it isn’t very stable. You have to set it down carefully and make sure it stops wobbling, otherwise it might fall (and it has).

I like the look, and the build quality is great. The accessories are pretty basic. It comes with a crevice attachment but no brush/upholstery attachment, which would’ve been nice. Overall, it’s a great vacuum, but it could use some improvement.
