20 Best Vacuum St Charles (2022 Updated)

I’ve been using this product for a week now and I really do love it! The foam roller brush really is like magic on my tile floors. The regular roller brush has a built in comb-like thing to prevent hair for getting tangled and I think that works very well.

There’s almost too many attachments but I really appreciate the flexibility that this product has. It is the perfect size to be stored away in the pantry and also doesn’t bother the dog as much as my regular vacuum.

To make one small complaint, the battery life could be improved. I get around a half an hour of use before it needs to be charged for several hours. I wish it could either have longer battery life or recharge more quickly.

I really find myself using it a lot because I hate unwinding the cord for my other Dyson but it’s died twice on me in the midst of a clean up. Really an excellent product overall and I recommend to anyone with tile/hardwood/vinyl flooring!.

I purchase this vacuum new from Dyson over one year ago. At first I was pleased with the vacuum and could understand why so many people chose this brand. My previous vacuums were plug in canister types, which I like, except for the cord.

However, within 2 months I noticed that the vacuum was not picking up various things on both tile and wood floors. I only have one 8-10 low pile carpet. First it was small leaves and small pieces of laundry lint.

Over the last couple of months it no longer picks up pieces of popcorn and popcorn kernels, feathers, cat hair, pieces of paper that had been through the office paper shredder, etc. The actual run time on high is 6.

5 minutes and on low is 23 minutes. I gave two stars for the 2 things I do like about it: it is cordless and it came with lots of accessories which I do use quite frequently. It is frustrating to be almost through with vacuuming a room or two and then have to put it back on the charger.

Obviously, I have to vacuum over an extended period of time to finish the job. Sorry, I really wanted to love this vacuum but I cannot recommend it.

I LOVE my Miele C3 Cat and Dog Canister Vaccum!!! It’s everything I’ve ever hoped for. It’s light but compact and very strong. The different settings are remarkable and my Cat isn’t afraid when I turn it on!.

I’ve been familiar with Miele products for years, their quality and master workmanship for years, But, their washers and dryers were always out of my price range. I can assure you, if and when I need a new washer and dryer, I will place my order with your store.

The C3 Calima is a wonderful canister vacuum by Miele. I have used and owned many canisters from the German manufacturer, both in Germany and here in the US. The only disappointment was one made in the US who lasted only 3 years, as I had to replace the motor unit.

Since then I made sure that I bought only vacuums made in Germany, or those that used German made parts. I bought the last vacuum 7 years ago, and it is still in top notch condition. I bought the Calima for a new vacation home.

While I do not know, of course, much about the longtime reliability of the Calima, it performs superbly sofar.

I’m not sure if I’m reviewing this on the correct product page but I’m writing about the Miele complete c3 excellence powerline vacuum. I absolutely love this thing. It was not cheap but I 100% stand by the purchase and would do it again in a heartbeat.

It’s great for many reasons. It’s bagged and everything is sealed so no need to empty a bin regularly. We’ve had this vacuum for over a year now and I still haven’t had to change the first bag we put in yet.

I was originally not super happy with having to buy bags given their price, but after seeing how long a single bag lasts, I have no qualms. The suction is great and has multiple settings depending on what you’re looking to vacuum.

There’s a nice long retractable cord that makes it easy to move around and to store. We have central vac at our new place but I just bust this guy out instead of using the central vac.

Maneuverable, gets under beds and low tables better than old vacuum. Picked up glitter from Christmas that old vacuum wouldn’t. Not heavy to carry. Excellent on wood, tile and carpet and rugs (which are a lower pile).

Worth the money. Best vacuum I’ve ever had. (S. Feldman were also easy and prompt).

Suction is good, but very much in line with other good vacuum cleaners such as electrolux. It is heavy, large, difficult to maneuver with a large hose which is difficult to manage if you have smaller hands.

The bagless mechanism is where it all falls apart. It is clumsy, and messy. You’ll need another vacuum to clean this vacuum, and if you’re sensitive, keep those N95 masks handy, because the plume of dust upon release is like a mini nuclear bomb that blows up your trashcan.

Also, parts are fragile, the plastic seems thin and brittle, and the release ‘button’ doesn’t look like its made for touching. It looks like something you should leave alone, like it’s part of some complex mechanism.

I know it sounds silly, but I think these things should have clean, touchable designs. This clasp to release is just inelegant.

Pros: No expensive bags to buy. Mains operated so battery doesn’t run out every five minutes. Handle on pole comfortable. Canister pulls around effortlessly. Very strong construction of the casing. Tools slide into place smoothly.

Turbo tool for carpets does a thorough job. Cons: The yellow clip on dust bin has to be fully engaged with thumbnail (to the right) after closing the bin, just to make sure it is tight and secure. but that isn’t a problem really.

The canister is fairly heavy but that doesn’t matter as you push the pole not the whole unit, and the canister is not too heavy to carry upstairs.

I bought this vacuum over a year ago after deciding I wanted to try a canister vacuum and a different brand than Dyson (everyone has a Dyson, and I like to keep it different!), and I am so glad that I did.

I vacuum almost daily and am a little rough with my vacuums, so quality is important to me and this vacuum definitely holds up to the beating it gets. It’s so easy to empty the canister, and the overall vacuum is so light even my 5 year old can maneuver it.

The best thing about this vacuum is how amazingly quiet it is- my child can watch tv in the same room I am vacuuming and not have to bump the volume up like he doesn’t even notice I’m in the room.

Plus, this vacuum will suck up even the tiniest flecks of junk along baseboards on carpet and wood. I really can’t say enough good about this purchase. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Do NOT buy this vacuum cleaner. If it could be rated 0, that’s what it would have got. (Summary: ours broke before we’d owned it for two years, and it can’t be repaired. We have a James hoover that we bought over a decade ago and it’s still going strong.

Buy them instead. ) We bought a Jet 90 Pet in September 2020. We did a lot of research into which cordless vaccum to buy, as we wanted to get something that would work well and last a long time. The Jet 90 seemed well-reviewed so we decided to save up for it.

It was much more expensive than most of our homecare purchases but we were confident it would last. We’d had it for fewer than two years before the cleaner broke. It had been handled all that time with proper care, as we wanted it to last.

Despite that the motor came away from the handle, in a way that seems to me as if it was a case of poor manufacture, or even built-in obsolescence. I contacted Samsung customer support and was informed that I would have to send the cleaner to Manchester for repair, at our expense.

(I asked to be called back by a Samsung customer service manager as I wanted to complain about the quality of the item. It was arranged for a call to be made to me. I didn’t receive a call when the set time came.

I did, however, get a call two days later than arranged, during my work day, when I couldn’t answer. This hasn’t made me feel more positively inclined towards the company. ) I took the cleaner to a local repair shop to see if it could be repaired but we’ve been informed that the nature of the break – the motor coming away from the handle housing – means that this isn’t possible.

Bottom line – though I was pleased with it at first I cannot now recommend this product at all, and will not be buying Samsung products again in the future. This was one of the most expensive items we’ve ever purchased and two years later it’s completely useless.

(By contrast a James hoover that we bought over a decade ago is still working fine. I’d suggest going to them, if you want something that’ll last. ).

I don’t normally write product reviews, but I’ve been so happy with this vacuum I’ve decided to take the time to do so. I didn’t get the Jet expecting it to replace my current “drag along” vacuum, but rather as something easy to get out quickly to clear up spills and such.

After having the Jet for a few weeks now, I’ve been amazed at how good it is. I have stopped using my old vacuum completely!! I was sceptical about how good the suction could be on something that weighs so little, but I was wrong to be.

The suction is so powerful I rarely need to use full power mode! I was doubtful if the battery would last long enough for me to vacuum downstairs or upstairs in one go, but it can almost do both! The whole vacuum has obviously been well thought out during the design process as the Jet is comfortable to use when vacuuming as it doesn’t require a trigger to be held in continuously as I’ve seen when looking at other brands.

The maintenance is also simple as the bin is easy to remove and can be completely washed (as can the filters). I can’t recommend the Jet 60 highly enough, my only regret is not getting it sooner.

Powerful vacuum, almost too much on carpets (you need to let air in with the controllable nozzle to avoid pulling everything). The only major flaw in the design is that the tube attached to the canister does not freely rotate.

This means that if you make a turn, you may end up squeezing the flexible tube and it is not easy to readjust easily. It can be frustrating because you need to make sure the tube is always coming straight from the canister.

The other small issue is that the cable could be a few feet longer. Otherwise, quite happy for the price.

IšverstiShow in original languageBought from QVC Feb 2010. Good price , had been looking for one of these for a while. Firstly the ‘Animal’ bit. Works well. We have a white cat and had no problem picking up cat hairs.

In fact it is very good. However we have been very disapointed with its other cleaning performance. Firstly ,we have 50 /50 hard floors and carpet. The supplied main rotating head is useless on hard floors , so I purchased a dedicated hard floor attachment.

This improved the cleaning performance but its not perfect. Its a pain to have to keep changing heads whilst performaing routine hoovering. Secondly – regular loss of suction. Found this was mainly due to filter blocking up.

Resolved by rinsing under tap , but that meant that you could not used cleaner until it had completely dried out! Bought extra filters to help this. Battery life is hopeless on full power (10 -15 min) but mainly use it on mid power setting (approx 30 min) wall mount is a good feature however it does not accomodate all the supplied tools.

Good at cleaning the car “the most expensive car hoover in history” Previous cleaner was a Miele cylinder – this is like chalk and cheese to the V10 and cleans much better and use this when we do a weekly deep clean.

Cannot believe that this performs so poorly following all the other reviews and hype surrounding Dyson products. Never have I been so disapointed with an eagerly awaited purchase. I keep thinking maybe I am using it incorrectly – but have read manuals , looked at Youtube videos etc.

and clearly not. Its just not very good – but promises so much more. My only regret is that I did not return this while I could – -I just kept giving it yet another chance , buying accesories etc/.

I bought this vacuum Black Friday 2019 and was very happy with the product initially as it worked better than any other vacuum i had ever had, over the next while the battery got to a state of NOT usable in the max suction mode (because it died so quick) even with correct cleaning schedule – still it worked for what i needed it for so I continued to use it without complaint.

Then about 6 months ago it died on me completely within warranty, which was not expected from a $500 vacuum but wait there’s more – this is where it gets fun because the overall customer experience was and still is absolutely awful.

So my first conversation with a service representative (EARLY NOV 2021) was great and helpful and he had mentioned they would be out of stock of the main body for 2 weeks (which was ok at that time) and also mentioned that my warranty would be valid until the new parts were received because it was close to my warranty end.

Then two weeks goes by and i contact them again – they say its going to be another 2-3 weeks, which is frustrating because a vacuum is a necessity and I did not expect further delays from a high end company like Dyson (especially when they could just replace it for a similar vacuum in stock).

They then send another message saying my warranty has expired and I had to vouch for myself that I talked with Dyson (with pictures of the chat) prior to it expiring (again not something I expected out of a high end company).

After that they tell me I have a service center I can go to – OVER 4 HOURS AWAY FROM ME. I tell them I am not going to be able to take it there and they tell me ONCE AGAIN my warranty has expired and I have to explain to them once again what happened with pictures.

They then tell me the component is now 3-4weeks out and I could not do that with the holidays coming up so i suggested to provide a different one of equal or similar value or i could buy one from a bunch of retailers around me (who somehow all had several of these in stock) and they could reimburse me.

Dyson disregarded that message and then told me there is NO ETA on the main body component and said they would contact me when one has been received – IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE THEN. So in all it leaves a terrible taste in my mouth and is not what I expected out of a high end, large company like Dyson.

Some people say you get what you pay for and that saying is the EXACT OPPOSITE WITH DYSON. I will never be buying a Dyson product again simply because they dont back their product.

Pros: Simple to use, cordless so easy to manoeuvre, great for a quick run around of the house though the battery power doesn’t allow us to get the whole house done (house is large). We use the high strength setting for cleaning the car interior and it lasts about 10 mins max.

On the medium setting, we get about 30 mins running power. It will often not pick up small items on the floor and just pushes them along, particularly if being pulled in the back direction. Is better going forward but not 100%.

Have to go over areas a few times sometimes to pick up. The worst factor for us is that it scratched and ruined our stained timber hardwood flooring, on several occasions and with two different head.

Dyson did replace the original head but new one does same. It will either get something small stuck in it (eg a frozen pea, a small leaf – it doesn’t suck them up like a standard vaccum would) and it will drag along the floor and scratch.

The spinning head also gets ‘stuck’ from time to time. This happens mid vacuum and it will stick and spin and happens so quickly that it’s ruined the floor before you realise it’s stuck. It has created many scratches on our floor (ruined the floor) a metre or so long (arm’s length) before you realise what’s happening and stop moving it.

Based on this and destroying our floor, I wouldn’t recommend it. If you have tiles or carpet, then it works pretty well. I generally use a standard vacuum to clean architraves, skirtings etc as I find it easier than the stick and having to change ends constantly.

The standard vacuum is a quicker job and covers more area at a time than the stick. It’s good for small areas (apartments, small rooms etc) which don’t have hardwood flooring. For anything else, I wouldn’t recommend it.

We were caught by the cordless feature and thought, as the second generation of the technology, the bugs would be worked out. But this product has been incredibly frustrating since we bought it because of two major design flaws.

The first is the battery. It doesn’t last nearly as long in practice as it does in the promotions. There are three settings: 1, 2 and max. On Max, it lasts around 15 minutes maybe. Even in our 1000 square-foot apartment, we found that one charge was not enough to vacuum the whole apartment.

And when the battery is exhausted, it takes six hours to recharge. So, you have to vacuum part of your home and then schedule in a second vacuuming session later, if you want to get it all. And if you use the lower settings, the vacuum doesn’t pick up things as well and you have to go over the same spot two or three times.

The second problem is the filter. After a few vacuuming sessions, the filter gets dirty and you have to clean it. That means you have to hold it under running cool tapwater for five minutes straight circling the water.

One of the most boring household chores I’ve found. And then you have to let the filter dry for three days before you can put it back in. And then, over time it seems other parts start getting dirty and even after you’ve cleaned your filter and waited three days for it to dry it still won’t operate on Max.

After we complained about this the first time, Dyson did send us a replacement filter, but even with an approach of cleaning one and letting it dry while using the other, we still find ourselves sitting out to vacuum and ending up dead in the water because both filters still aren’t clean according to the indicator on the vacuum.

Recommend you consider other products or manufacturers.

IšverstiShow in original languageI was very excited to get the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, especially since I have had such great experiences with other Dyson products. Packaging and assembly with a breeze pretty self explanatory.

I was impressed from the start with how lite it was, which made is very convenient for the stairs in our house. It was easy enough for the kids to carry around and use too, which is always a plus! I found it fairly easy to use for over head tasks too.

I liked that it only has a single button power control. The LCD screen is probably my favorite feature. It shows you what has been lifted on the different surfaces, it is clear and easy to understand.

In fact at one point it wasn’t functioning properly and the LCD screen told me what the problem was right away and I was able to fix it right away. I love that I didn’t have to trouble shoot it and take the whole thing apart to figure out the problem.

It came with some neat attachments, the fluffy yellow and purple roller that is perfect for our wooden and tile floors, it had no problem fitting under our dining table and coffee table, this saved me time from having to move the furniture around.

It comes with a wall dock that provides a way to easily store all the components while charging it as well. It included a neat hair screw tool, the allows you to pick up pet hair making pet spaces easy and fast to keep clean.

They have a new design on the motorbar which helps to detangle long hair, eliminating the need for me to take it apart to cut out tangled hair like I have had to with other vacuums. You can select from the three cleaning modes depending on what job you are tackling.

The waste bin is super easy to empty, simply point it in the trash can and push the lever to release the dirt. It is quick and straight to the point and I didn’t have to tough anything so my hands never got dirty.

I love that it gives you 60 minutes of charge unlike previous machines that gave my around 20 minutes, also I found that the battery did a great job of holding the charge even when it was not in use or plugged in.

The only “con” I would say I found was that if you doing a bigger job like cleaning more that a few rooms at a time, you have to stop and empty out the bin more often perhaps because it is a smaller unit but if you don’t mind that it really isn’t an issue.

I would absolutely recommend this product to my friends and family.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have an older, corded Dyson which is still a workhorse. But since it is quite heavy and I am older, I can no longer easily carry it up and down stairs. So this corded one now stays upstairs which is carpeted, and the V12 Detect Slim is perfect for downstairs which is all tile/hardwood.

I have 2 very fluffy cats which shed a lot – constantly – and will sometimes scatter litter when covering their waste. I tried another stick vacuum which was great for about a year, but then started dropping the litter back down and out onto the floor again so this was frustrating and useless.

Back to Dyson and so far so very good. The one small feature that helped me finally make the choice of the V12 Detect Slim is the “on/off” button over the trigger in the other models. I have a bit of arthritis in my hands and the trigger would probably not be comfortable for me.

I also love the laser attachment to find all the litter scatter pieces that are not easily seen but certainly are felt by bare feet. I’ve only had this vacuum for a short while and have not tried all of the attachments yet but am hopeful that my furniture will be cleaner of cat hair just as my floors seem to be.

Yes, the dust bin is small, but it’s so easy to detach and empty I don’t find that to be an issue for me. As long as the V12 Detect slim keeps holding the litter in this bin, I will keep singing its praises.

I also bought the standing Dok and love this. Would just like a holder of some sort to attach to the stand for holding more of the attachments. So, considering how well my older, corded vacuum has performed and continues to perform, I’m hopeful for similar performance from the V12 Detect Slim.

I originally was going to buy the more expensive pet vacuum but found out that Miele products are not always made the same for places like Bed Bath and Beyond, so I did not want to spend the extra money for something that was not made with the highest quality.

This vacuum is still exceptionally expensive when compared to other brands, however, Miele is a very high-quality company. My only complaint so far about this vacuum is that the cord is extremely short.

I do need an extension cord. The head attachment is also a bit light and flimsy but this is both good and bad, it’s good because it moves very easily but bad because it seems a little cheaply made. These are also my reasons for the 4 stars.

The vacuum is so far performing much better than my Dyson Pet vacuum.

I purchased the Miele Canister vacuum to replace the Dyson Animal that I bought to replace my original Dyson – which I absolutely loved until it died.

The canister vacuum is great – I absolutely love the extendable wand on the hose, the attachments, and the way the vacuum swivels when moving around. The user who gave the Miele a 1 star rating must not have realized that releasing the suction by opening the air vents on the wand and/or the attachment makes it easier to vacuum floors, area rugs and carpet.

However, I will agree with that reviewer that it isn’t easy to use the Miele on thick well-padded carpet. I use it with no issues on our area rugs, tile and hardwood floors. We bought a lightweight Oreck to vacuum the carpeted areas of our new home – it was difficult to vacuum the plush carpet.

It’s very important to pay attention to how full the bag is and change it – on any vacuum, of course. The Miele makes it easy by providing an indicator right where the hose inserts into the canister.

We’ve owned a Miele vacuum and dishwasher, and I’m getting ready to order a Miele canister vacuum as a birthday present for our daughter. It’s a great tool for all kinds of housekeeping (especially if you have pets or long hair).

Truthfully, it suits neither. As there is no beater bar, any carpet that isn’t thin will not be cleaned effectively. On the hard surface setting, the head scrapes on the floor so I’d consider it okay for tile but not hardwood.

To complicate matters further there is a pressure release valve on the handle that’s needed when vacuuming area rugs – be sure to use it or the rug will stick to the head.

This vacuum does very well in many reviews as it cleans very well and has reasonable battery life, but it does have some shortcomings. Since there are plenty of people singing its praises, I’ll focus on the not-so-good things: 1) It’s heavy.

Dyson markets this as the only vacuum you need but your arm will be falling off and you’re trigger finger cramped by the time you finishing vacuuming a larger area. It’s way too top heavy and needs to support a different configuration where the weight is lower down.

2) For mixed carpet and hard floor cleaning, you’re going to have to lug around two heads. Both heads are excellent for their respective surfaces, but neither is good enough for both and there’s no way to attach a second head so you’re constantly going back to the previous area to pick up the other head.

Maybe Dyson can develop a proper multi-surface head like Shark has. 3) For the money, it really should come with a second battery (it does in other countries) so you really can use it to clean a whole house.

If you run the battery flat you’re sure to be tired, but you’ll only need a 10 minute rest while the vac will need hours to recharge 4) I can’t believe that you get a bunch of accessories but Dyson doesn’t give you a mounting system that can accomodate everything.

You end up with accessories jammed into boxes stored in different locations. You know you’ve stuffed up when other manufacturers start making products to hold all of your accessories! 5) If you have long-haired residents you will forever be cleaning hair off the carper attachment roller.

Others have done a better job at dealing with this. One workaround we discovered is to do a quick once-over on carpet with the hard floor head which picks up most of the hair without getting tangled.

You then do the carpet again with the carpet head. A little long-winded but better than spending time trying to get the hair loose.

Overall I’ve been very pleased with the Dyson V11 Outsize. It’s powerful and seems to filter the air it puts back out very well (no dusty smell when vacuuming). I like that the large head roller bar, while it can still get string and long hair wrapped around it, is probably the easiest to pull them off I’ve ever encountered.

The accessories click on and off incredibly easily, which is nice. The air filter cleans easily under the faucet with just your fingers to loosen dirt, but it takes overnight to dry before you can use it again, so make sure you’re done for the day before you wash it.

Emptying the dust receptacle is amazingly easy (just make sure you go slowly and get the end well inside the trash or you can get some of the finer dust poofing out in a cloud). I love that the unit warns you immediately when something is blocking the air flow.

Gone are the days where the vacuum motor gets burned out because you’re unaware it’s badly plugged. Just a few pain points: 1. It is heavy, so working anywhere but on the floor, such as removing cobwebs on the ceiling or dusting surfaces, is difficult and requires I use both hands or my wrist and arm get tired after just a couple seconds (I’m a 52 year old male with average strength).

2. While the vacuum came with several useful accessories, I quickly realized I needed to order the flexible hose attachment in order to make cleaning upholstery easier (see point 1 above). 3. The temptation is always there to use just the most powerful mode as it picks up most reliably and requires fewer passes than the lesser modes.

Unfortunately, this mode eats through battery power very quickly. Yes, the Outsize comes with a backup battery and charger so you can switch out if the first one runs out, but dyson warns that repeated use of the highest power mode will reduce the overall lifetime of the batteries, which are undoubtedly very expensive to replace.

4. Most clogs seem to occur in the base of the unit just inside a small rectangular opening that empties into the dust receptacle. While it’s easy enough to get at this opening, it requires emptying the receptacle first and then removing it from the unit (again, not difficult).

It’s often difficult to fish blockages out with just a finger. A pair of needle nose plyers can help. Be forewarned that the blockage (a jigsaw puzzle piece was one I encountered), will come out of this opening with a load of dust behind it, so only remove clogs over a waste basket, and keep your finger away from the trigger or you might get a face full of dust.

5. Minor point, but I wish the unit came in more color options than just red, which is my least favorite color.

I ordered the refurbished model as I already own a Dyson Outsize and absolutely love it. The non refurbished comes with all the tools and 2 batteries. My decision to buy the refurbished was because I already had the tools and didn’t need 2 more batteries.

(The refurbished comes with one battery and 2 tools). I knew immediately I turned it on that it wasn’t working properly. The auto function did not show and the brush wasn’t spinning. I have to say that Customer Service was great.

We walked through the trouble shooting and discovered the wand was faulty. They immediately dispatched me a new wand and the unit now works perfectly. The machine looks new and the brush head looks brand new – you wouldn’t know if was a refurbished machine.

I was just disappointed that a company like Dyson would not have tested the machine better since it was a refurbished model. The machine itself I would give 10 stars just a little disappointed in receiving a faulty machine.

However 10 stars to Dyson for a quick fix of the problem.
