20 Best Valerian Root Tea (2022 Updated)

I have had sleep problems all my adult life and have tried dozens of over the counter and prescription sleep medications that have never worked for me. So needless to say, I was very sceptical about something else saying it could help me sleep.

I ordered it because I figured at the very least it would be a tea that I could enjoy. So how surprised was I the first night I tried it when for the first time in months I slept through the night and woke up feeling refreshed? I was floored! Is it the tea? Is it the ritual? Is it all in my head? I don’t know but my sleepless nights occur far less often when I am drinking Nightcap regularly.

The great taste of the tea is just an added bonus.

I suffer from insomnia, so I was hoping Night Cap might help with that. It didn’t. But, on the upside, it tastes great and I can drink it anytime without it making me sleepy. Would I buy it again? I don’t know.

The jury is still out on that. Maybe.

Sleep is one of the most important thing to do everyday to be healthy, to have energy, to renew your cells, and neurons. Is healthy for your brain and for all the hormones process. Celestial Sleepytime extra with valeriana and chamomile is excellent, super effective to make you sleep.

I was studying the circadian clock and found this. Your sleep-wake circadian rhythm is an internal clock that runs constantly, cycling between alertness and sleepiness. You may have heard of it as the sleep-wake cycle because it helps regulate sleep patterns.

So, this is what I call love for me and discipline; 1. Take a magnesium vitamin after your dinner or 30 min before bed 2. turn off all devices. phone, tablet, computer, tv…. 3. Drink Celestial sleepytime extra tea.

Sometimes in the middle of the cup I feel sleepy …Turn off the lights and close your eyes. If you have insomnia or you are very stress you can try one melatonin vitamin and drink Celestial Seasonings sleepytime Extra at bed time and knocks you out.

I buy it at Publix or Walmart.

This tea has literally been a lifesaver. I’ve suffered from severe insomnia due to a chronic immune disorder and have been on strong prescription medications for most of my life. With metabolic disorders sometimes medications don’t work well and this is where this product has really had an effect.

The combination of valerian as well as other herbal ingredients has made a big difference in my ability to fall asleep and stay asleep without waking up with a hung over feeling. Obviously it does not work for me a 100% of the time but that’s just because of my health condition.

This tea is a sure way to relax your mind and your body before bed making it easier to fall asleep. From a position of someone with severe insomnia I think this product is a must have in any kitchen.

Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Extra Tea, 20 Count (Pack of 3).

I started drinking the regular Sleepytime Tea as a baby still drink it to this day!! I even passed the tradition down to my kids they too love it. Along comes the Sleepytime EXTRA: The same ingredients as the regular, but with added valerian root “for an especially calming cup” to help you fall asleep naturally.

Since drinking this tea nightly, I no longer stay up til 12-1 o’clock in the morning actually seem to fall asleep faster, which I love since I’ve had severe sleep issues for years. It’s all-natural, aromatic, and tastes amazing-herbal mildly minty-with or without adding anything to it.

If you have issues falling asleep, I highly recommend giving this a try before bedtime!!.

I love this tea, it includes a blend of chamomile and valerian root, two sedative herbs, which you can definitely feel hit no too soon after you have a cup or two of this tea. This tea will relax you no doubt, and tastes quite great as well.

The notes of vanilla contrasting with a berry flavor, and the flavors of sweet almond that hit last when you take a sip blend wonderfully. This is a slightly sweet tea by itself without anything added due to the sweet almond flavors, but if you have quite the sweet tooth then it may taste even better with a little honey as well.

I was having trouble staying asleep I’d wake at 3 or 4 in the morning and have difficulty falling back asleep even after taking melatonin. A co-worker of my daughter recommended this tea. It has been a godsend.

I get a restful nights sleep with no sluggish or drowsy effects in the morning. Try it you’ll love it!.

The two purchases of tea pigs were intended as gifts for people I love (and who enjoy their tea): the wonderful mother of one of my much-loved friends whose 80th birthday is tomorrow; and my 26-yr. old grandson, whom I think discovered the pleasures of tea when he was a film studies student at NYU.

So I can’t report on my thoughts about the tea, though my grandson might offer me a cup when I’m in his area.

i have been drinking and subscribing this tea to family and friends for years and the results are astonishing. If you drink on a constant basis with a reasonable diet you will see results!

I’ve tried it and I liked it. At first I thought that maybe this product doesn’t taste very good because turmeric is the first ingredient. (40%), but I was surprised when I tried it and it was actually good.

It doesn’t really have a lot of flavor, but it is easy to drink and I like the combination with green tea. I was curious to try it because I know that turmeric is good for inflammation and also for the liver.

I’ve been drinking a couple extra cocktails these covid days and I’m adding turmeric to my food as an extra aid to my liver. I also noticed that the product came with an organic certification from Europe (the Euroleaf) I know the legislation and I feel confident with the types of ingredients to try it and see if it is good.

The ingredients are Turmeric root (40%) green tea (20%) licorice root, cardamom pod, lemon essential oil flavour (6%) lemon whole (6%) (total 72%) and lemon verbena leaf that maybe is 28% to complete the 100% Also 72% fair trade ingredients certificate according to the Fair for Life Standard.

I originally started drinking Wormwood tea for intestinal problems. Wormwood tea is an aquired taste. Like gin or scotch. It’s bitter & tastes like unsweetened grapefruit. Most people hate it. I didn’t particularly like when I first started drinking it.

Now I love it. But, I need it sweetened like a grapefruit. I no longer drink it only for it’s medicinal properties. I also drink it because I love the taste. It’s my go to drink first thing in the morning.

(It is important to take a break from it for a few weeks if you’ve been drinking it for while. Too much of it for too long can be toxic. ) Thanks!.

Husband is handicapped and in a wheelchair. We had COVID-19 Omicron in mid January. I read that drinking Holy Basil Tea was beneficial. The article listed 10 benefits. Kills viruses (coughing/fever/sore throat) caught my eye.

Another benefit that was listed was kills bacteria (lungs). The doctor said it would be any where between 2 – 4 months to get over. We both breathe easier already and I give the credit to Holy Basil Tea.

The Elderberry & Echinacea Pukka tea had been my favourite for a long time until I received a sample of this blend and I am now hooked! I already been through several boxes as it’s so conforming and soothing; I drink it anytime of day as well as at nighttime.

I just lovely.

This is a nice relaxing tea overall, I love the taste of rosehip, and the chamomile and valerian root are calming. I couldn’t finish the pack though because I found the blackberry and blueberry flavouring to cut across all the other flavours in a really overpowering way.

Be sure to let it steep for the recommended 15 minutes and expect a cup of loveliness as you prepare for a good night’s sleep. I have a few different types of night time tea’s but this one is by far my favourite.

It tastes awful to me, however if you love licorice flavor, then you will most likely love this tea. I love this brand and this is their first product of theirs I haven’t liked, and that bc it’s a taste I don’t care for.

I don’t remember how well I slept the night I drink it and never plan on drinking it again to test it for you. I will say the company is great and I recommend this company. My poor stars are only bc of taste.

This is one of my favorite sleepy time teas! I love adding into this yummy blend. I will use this instead of reaching for junk food before bed especially since it promotes natural cleansing and there is just something about drinking a nice hot cup of tea that really fills up your stomach with the perk of making you feel nice warm while winding down.

I’m telling you as someone who is EXTREMELY PICKY and my favorite tea is Chai so this was out of comfort zone, but adding some honey drinking it before bed just hits different! They don’t have the flavor that I picked up because mine is a limited addition it’s called Mama bears cold care and it’s caffeine-free herbal supplement. It contains Herbs Botanicals like peppermint, licorice root and Eucalyptus.

Other ingredients are chicory root, lavender and menthol. It helps soothe sore throat and clear your sinuses. It’s not easy to find I seem to only be able to locate it during winter and fall. But it works beautifully.

I definitely suggest it. The only place I seem to be able to find it is either on Amazon or Walmart.

I have been using this product for a while and I’m very pleased with it. I have found that it really helps me to relax and fall asleep at night. The tea is very calming and has a nice taste. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is having trouble sleeping.

Just wow. I was thrown back at the scent of this intoxicating delightful tea. Smooth and fruity. If you let the tea leaves steep long enough it’ll taste sweet.

I buy this for my sister she has trouble sleeping. She says it really does help her fall asleep, calms and makes her sleepy.

I had this originally as a gift and loved it, once I ran out I bought another tin but the contents felt markedly different. In many ways it was an entirely different tea. The colour was far lighter and the flavour felt much softer and greener.

I have been assured it is the same tea which just means the accepted quality for one batch to the next leaves a lot to be desired. I can’t recommend this tea because I had two markedly different cups, with one I wouldn’t recommend and no guarantee if you’ll get a nice one.

My husband snores and I find a don’t sleep well with a freight train laying besides me. So I thought I would try the sleep time tea, to see if that would help! So first night we both had a cup a hour before bed, and my husband just purred all night and I slept like a baby.

So we have been having the sleep time tea for the last 3 weeks and it works every night. I even took it on holiday with us. Absolutely love it. I have recommended to all my friends that have freight train husbands.

I have been drinking this tea for the last couple of years and I love it. However this last refill bag tastes different. I believe one of the ingredients is not in the tea anymore and this has changed the taste and it is no longer as nice.

I love this tea! I don’t drink it every night but when I’ve had trouble sleeping I’ll have a cup before bedtime and it really helps. Not only with making you tired, but I find I sleep deeper. It has valerian root in it to help, which for me is better than melatonin.

I actually also really like the flavor. It’s almost kind of vanilla-y. Not sure how to describe it exactly but I like it. The tin it comes in is great too for retaining freshness.

nbspSo I purchased this tea about a month ago. With the Covid pandemic and being a nurse, I found that my cortisol levels were through the roof, and I needed to do something to help bring down my anxiety.

I could not sleep for the life of me at night it doesn’t help working midnight shift 3 nights a week either. Well I found this gem of a tea and I am so happy I did, with diet, exercise, and a cup of secrets of tea at night, I feel more relaxed.

And I am having no issue falling asleep on my off nights! I loved it so much, I actually ordered it a second time around. I even got my husband and mother-in-law hooked!And the flavor is amazing! I usually add honey to my tea, but I don’t have to with valerian root! It has a bit of a berry flavor.

What a pleasant surprise. I usually go to bed around 10 pm and cannot fall asleepuntilmidnight. Ive taking a cup of this valerian teafor 3 nights in a row before bed, works gradually and next thing I know ,,,, I’m msleeping like a baby.

Ive tried many different remedies of teas and coming across this tea has been nothing shy of amazing! Sometimes I will add some honey to it but not much since it is a tea meant to get you to sleep. Its relaxing and the taste is quite nice.

A lot more potent than most sleep teas, which I find to be nice. My partner loves these teas as well very once in a while.
