20 Best Value Luggage Set (2022 Updated)

This set did not even last one trip and the seams started to come apart. I was well under the airline weight limits. When I contacted the company, they indicated I was beyond the 30 day warranty (it was less than 2 weeks past the 30 days), so they would do nothing for me.

This set is a total waste of money and the company did not stand behind its defective product. Would not recommend and definitely will never buy anything from this company again.

I liked the color scheme because the colors stand out when searching for the bag on the pick-up carousel. The design inside allowed for good organization. However, the case material is very thin and flimsy.

The wheels seemed to be made of cheap hardware. I returned this product because I was concerned that it wouldn’t stand up to checked bag treatment.

My brother bought a set of this about 7 years ago, he liked his so well, I bought a set for my daughter in Teal for our first cruise. She has used hers for 5 cruises, short weekend trips, moved clothes into her first dorm, then into her first apartment, and it has held up very well.

A few marks here and there, but nothing major – no complaints. They stack conveniently inside one another, are not terribly heavy, roll smoothly, and can hold your backpack/purse/duffle comfortably on top and bungeed to the extended handle.

In fact, I just ordered myself a set to replace my old non-wheeled hardside American Tourister from high school (which, by the way, is still plugging). I have no concerns about this new set not making the grade.

I’ll certainly update if it doesn’t. And my brother still uses his, much more than we do, it’s a bit rough around the edges – but still solid!.

My brother bought a set of this luggage about 6 years ago and loved it. I then bought a set for my daughter and she loves them! I recently bought myself a set to replace my high-school graduation set of 1978 hardside luggage.

Both my brother’s and my daughter’s sets have been thru lots of travel – by air, car, bus and cruise ship – and are holding up fine (a few scuffs and scratches). They stack conveniently inside one another for storage, the wheels glide effortlessly, and they can hold a carry-on back pack of tote on top secured to the telescopic handle.

I have no complaints, we have trusted American Tourister for 40+ years, and look forward to many years of travel with my new set.

The middle size was able to pack 5 days worth of clothing for two people. The suitcases come with 4 swivel wheels and very sturdy handles. There are expansion zippers that allow for the suitcases to hold more if necessary.

The zippers are nice and thick zipper pulls so as to not pull off easily. The handle does lock in the upper positioning making it a breeze to wheel the suitcases around. The suitcases are cloth and they wipe down well.

For storage they do nest inside of one another. The large suitcase is really all one needs to travel for a month. The medium size is about the standard size that fits the guidelines for a standard suitcase for airline travel.

The handles on the side are strongly fastened to the suitcase and it helps for when loading and unloading the luggage. This is a very wonderful travel set and the color is eye catching. It has appears deeply green blue and was not a common color when i was last in the airport.

I am very happy with the value and the durability of the product.

This set is awesome. It came packaged nicely, no damage. The suitcases all roll really well. Lots of space and nice liners inside. Comes with locks also. Haven’t taken them on our vacation yet, but I can’t wait now with these awesome suitcases!.

Got this as a present from my boyfriend- since we planned on taking numerous trips together. The set was so pretty that I held off on using it for months. When I finally did, I was embarrassed. The wheels unraveled and left me struggling to pull throughout my trip.

All three pieces, when used on different first time occasions, underwent the same unraveling. This was a complete waste of money and pretty packaging. I wish I could have gotten a refund.

This blue is more purple. but otherwise great. Wheels are sturdy, expands about 1-1 1/2 inches. Zippers are nice easy glide, sturdy. Packed to 49. 5 lbs and wheeled nicely. Handles are a bit short for 6ft plus in height but great for average folks.

lining fabric nylon and very nice. Zippers inside also glide well and are sturdy. All and all very please with purchase. Did well on cross country flights over Christmas so you know they where handled in tossing mode.

I have just used this case for one transatlantic trip and two additional European segments and it’s held up well with a full load (50 pounds). There are already 2 small dents at the corners and small scratched, but no cracking.

The design and pattern on the shell hides these dings better than my previous Rimowa cases (which ultimately cracked). This shell seems less rigid. The color (blue teal) is great to spot on the carousel without being “too loud” for business travel.

The inner design with one side netted and the other side with elastic bands can be tricky when opening to ensure that everything doesn’t spill out, but I personally like this set up best to seperate the two sides.

The wheels have overall been fantastic rolling over cobblestone and curbs with easy. It doesn’t seem to glide as easily when you want it to roll parallel to you in airports, but that may be due to the size or my heavy load? Overall, as a frequent travel who has burned through virtually every high end brand of suitcase, I am delighted.

It’s the perfect balance between light weight and sturdiness. The Samonsite quality is evident and I expect this suitcase to last me quite a while! I am glad I purchased it and would buy again. 4 star rating is simply to reflect the dings and rolling details mentioned above.

I bought the black set 3 years ago to replace a cheap set I bought from an online retailer that didn’t last but maybe a year. I haven’t had any issues with this set at all. This was my first quality hard side luggage set and it has endured several cruises and trips around the US.

I can’t say anything bad about the set and can’t say enough good thing about it. I have been recommending the set to everyone I know. The thing is to catch it on sale. I purchased mine for around $200.

Its listed at over $700 now. Since getting the set I’ve purchased the Carrier GSD Backpack which I also love. I’m definitely happy with my purchases and will shop with them again in the future.

I’ve had this since my escape from the US in 2020. WFH or work from the beach in Barbados? I’ve traveled on so many flights and have stayed at so many hotels that I’ve forgotten some. This has lasted throughout all the trips, throws and bangs that airlines give it.

It has earned some scratches here and there, but the handle, zipper and lock are all in top condition. I’m surprised others have had issues with this. As for me my only “complaint” would be that at almost 11 lbs it cuts in to the weight limit of what I can pack.

But it’s a hard case, so that’s the trade off.

I was very impressed with this! For $37 (after taxes) I received a pretty good quality little carry-on. The material is strong and seems sturdy enough to hold up for a while. Upon un-boxing, the tag read that the set is actually a $50 value, so you know you’re getting a deal.

The set is VERY lightweight, I think it said 4. 4 lbs on the box. So with most airline restrictions, that gives you about 18 lbs of stuff to pack in. I was surprised at how much I could fit! I packed clothes for a 10 day vacation and three pairs of shoes (clothes rolled strategically) and had room left over for souvenirs.

I also love the little satchel. It’s much bigger than I expected with two outside zippered pockets, one on the front and one on the back. Satchel has a carrying handle, a shoulder strap, and a flap that allows you to slip the satchel over the handle for it to sit on top while you’re rolling around.

In the satchel I was able to pack a book, a separate small purse and wallet to carry on vacation, a pair of shoes, a change of clothes, two skeins of yarn so I could crochet, two phones, my camera, chargers, and my iPod — WOW! In the front zippered pocket I was able to fit my makeup bag, passport, itinerary, and boarding passes without anything getting bent.

Very impressed with this! Checking baggage is overrated unless you’re away for a long time – if this set happens to wear out I wouldn’t mind spending $37 again since it’s literally the perfect size!.

So many good reviews on this affordable luggage, I had to give it a try. I have not bought luggage for years and I just wanted to keep it simple and compact. It is soft sided and im using for weekend and road trips only, not sure if this would hold up for flight use.

The size of the larger bag is roomy with expansion, extra pockets. The smaller “carry on” is perfect for all my toiletries and handy for undies and socks. It rolls perfectly with the pull out handle.

Both bags have soft handles and the smaller has a strap. The smaller bag sits on top the of the larger and I use the shoulder strap to tie it to the bigger case which makes it really secure. The floral design was my favorite but many cute choices! Definately a classy upgrade from my roller duffle bag! I reccomend.

With all the problems with lost luggage on airline these days, I wanted a smaller carry on bag. Its seem this fits my need. I needed something smaller the my regular 21 inch carry on bag because it’s a short trip (4 days).

Prayerfully this will hold up for my short travels. I’ll update after my travels.

For the low weight (which had much to do with my decision), this luggage seems well built and sturdy. I like the grayish green color as well. I would make a few recommendations to make this piece better although it may raise the price a bit as well.

1. The smallest front pocket is very difficult to access especially once the bag is packed. I can barely get my hand in it and you definitely can’t look in to see what’s there. It’s borderline useless as a pocket to use frequently.

2. I’m waiting for a luggage company to make a carry-on that is designed for how they are used by 90% of the people. And that is, design them so a bag that is resting on the top is better balanced. Many don’t have those straps that go around the bars and the handle on the top of the bag causes anything that is put on top to fall forward unless you are pulling the carry on.

A recessed handle or slightly sloping top might do the trick. 3. It would be nice to see just a touch more protection for the underside of the bag near the wheels. There’s one rubber or plastic strip/bar and two would probably to the trick.

4. Also, I would scrap the interior lid panel mesh material. Mine has already torn after one trip and I have no idea what caused it. I don’t need to see what’s behind the panel and to be honest a couple smaller zippered pouches would likely be more practical for the items one would use this area for.

Would I buy it again? Yes, most likely. It’s a bit pricey and plain-styled but I think it is a good, low-weight and roomy option for a carry on these days.

Just returned from a 6-day business trip. I already owned a couple of excellent carry-ons that have stood the tests of time and frequent travel. However, as you get older- it’s tougher to pickup and stash into overhead compartments, etc.

The TravelPro 21-inch Maxlite was perfect. Both empty and full- light, very easy to lift and manuever. Very impressed how user friendly it was. Compression bags allowed me to pack everything required for a week away from home.

Also purchased matching underseat bag – another great buy for shoes, electronics, incidentals, handbag, etc. I am planning a week-long leisure trip within the month and will definitely be taking both bags again.

Surprisingly roomy interior is well-organized. Compact size fits nicely into crowded overhead bins. Spinner very easy to guide through crowded airports and aisles one-handed. Only minor glitch is that it can be top-heavy.

Standing bags fell over twice with underseat bag attached. Must be conscientious when on a graded surface as bag will roll … and fall over! Again, light and easy to pick up. Highly recommend.

I’m disappointed in this model. It rolls very smooth and is super lightweight, but when you pack the suitcase, the outer pockets become useless. Maybe it’s to ensure the size stays suitable for carry-on requirements, but you can’t fit anything that’s not flat in the outer pockets like for example a round brush or bottle of sunscreen.

I would be worried to put a laptop in the laptop compartment bc the space is so tight. The expandable zipper design doesn’t quite give it enough room/flexibility. I loved my old TravelPro that I’ve had for ten years, the expandable part looks to be a different design.

It fit all carryon requirements, but I was able to pack more with ease in that one. This one and a smaller model I bought (and can’t return bc only 30 day return policy?!) just aren’t as useful. I’m sure the quality will hold up, but it’s going to be a struggle to pack these.

The 30 day return policy is really tight considering most of us are in the travel industry and can’t get home in time to return something after that short amount of time. Or even test it out long enough to see if it works.

The luggage is very nice and made it through our vacation with standard dings and scratches. We try to get around 7 years out of our luggage and we travel at lease twice a year. My main complaint that I didn’t realize was important is not having a zippered section that divides both sides once open.

(This has a strap system on one side and nothing on the other. )our last luggage had that and now we miss it. That being said it rolls smoothly and is definitely tough. However on my next purchase I will definitely look for that feature.

It’s just very difficult when things keep pouring out anytime it’s opened…. again good luggage just wish it had that feature like other luggage we had.

Every year in January my husband and I go out of the country for a week-10 days. We used to have an old suitcase that his parents handed down to us and it was not convenient or easy to haul through the airports and usually extremely hot conditions once we arrived to our destination country.

FINALLY, I was able to convince my husband that we needed new luggage. Samsonite is by far the best luggage we could have picked. We have had our new set for about 10 years and it works looks and handles like brand new.

Definitely recommend and if I may add the side load and swivel wheels are fantastic.

I think these suitcases are worth every cent you will spend on them. I have traved twice this month and they are awesome. I purchased one at Macys and loved it so much i purchased a set at BJ’s. I got the hard shell and it is so durable, unlike fabric.

The spinning wheels make it so easy to maneuver. It’s very spacious inside because its a bit more square than a standard one. The zipper are made w/ really good hardware, heavy duty and the combination lock is built in to the suitcase.

I highly recommend getting at least one.

I ordered this for my daughter who is in college. She travels, and needs a nice piece for her to carry-on. She loved the black with gold detail, and the inside is nicely laid out and has compartments for ease of organizing.

I wish I would have boughten her the set!.

This Samsonite Volante luggage set comes with two suitcases that are the perfect size. I have the dark grey color which is beautiful and stylish! The carry on has a zippered divider that helps make organized packing easy.

There is a small zippered compartment that works great for smaller items so they don’t get lost, I like to use it for my chargers. The large luggage piece is huge, plus it has an expander and lock. It also has a zippered divider, large zippered pouch, and even a pouch for my shoes! Both cases have two handles in addition to the adjustable handle that you use to wheel the luggage.

The wheels roll extremely smoothly on both cases and all of the zipper work great. This is an excellent set that is lightweight, sturdy, and works amazing for all travel near and far!.

I have another model of Samsonite suitcases (hardshell) and we absolutely love them. We bought these with the same kind of wear expectations as our other luggage has proven over years of traveling. This model worked and rolled just fine.

However, during the first time traveling I noticed the outside of the cases were very badly scratched, much more so than my other Samsonite luggage. So comparing this model to my other Samsonite luggage I feel like this model case should not have taken such bad damage for the amount of money I paid! The case did not crack but the suitcases look like we have had them for years! If you are considering purchasing please be aware they scratch easily.

I recently took my first trip with this lovely piece of luggage! Mine is a beautiful blue ish color that stands out when we are all anxiously waiting around the luggage carousel. I was able to pack for a 8 day trip that included gym clothes, dresses, and everyday clothes.

As well as all of our PPE and other daily essentials of getting ready. It has a divider on one side that zips shut and makes it easy to pack it full to the brim. The other side a securing straps. It also has a security system on the side that includes a number code, I was too nervous to use it on my first trip in case I forgot how to do it! Would definitely recommend based on this one trip! A travel buddy has had hers for years and it still is in fantastic condition!! The exact piece I have is ZIPLITE 4.

This is a classic high quality brand with excellent products. For luggage the price/quality ratio is excellent. I have purchased many products from this brand through the years and they literally last forever! Besides the design is remarkable.

I have several old bags and suitcases that I can’t replace because I can’t find a decent design that I like as much. Is an excellent brand and I definitely recommend it.

The medium sized (middle) suitcase was slightly smaller than we expected. Its smaller than the medium from the other set we bought (Pivot 2). We have only made one trip since purchasing this set and we only used the medium suitcase but we were disappointed to find several scratches on the suitcase when we arrived at our destination.

A few of the wiped clean but most of them are still there. This suitcase is advertised as scratch resistant and it doesn’t appear it is. Other than that it held up pretty well, we didn’t have any dents but this could be because we made sure to pack it full and we also used “x-straps” on the outside of the suitcase to secure the items and take stress off of the zippers.

This has been my wife’s go to !! This has been to Europe for 3 weeks , in and out of a car every day , Cancun for a week and just returned from a 3 week Peru Vacay !!! It is awesome no problems whatsoever in fact I am ordering one for me now !!! Thank you Samsonite it breezes through the Airport and I am tired of dragging mine hahahahaha The world is a Beautiful place , please put Machu Picchu on your #BucketList.

I absolutely love it!! I needed a larger suitcase that would fit everything without having to take a carry on and it worked perfectly! I received many compliments about the color, a beautiful shiny burgundy.

We purchased this set for our son last Christmas (Dec 2020). It is not even a year old and has been used very little. The zipper has detached from the suitcase making it unusable. Tried to start a warranty claim and we are responsible for shipping costs.

Very poor customer service!! Especially for a name brand and a very expensive set!.

I was so excited to purchase new luggage for our upcoming trips this year and thought this was a great price. We only used the two biggest ones of the set and traveled on our first trip from 4/3/to 4/10.

They were great on the way there but on the way home on 4/10 one weighed 50 pounds and one weighed 43 pounds. Getting off baggage claim we lifted them by the handle and they both snapped off. I’m so extremely disappointed in this purchase.

Maybe there is a weight limit and you can’t have more than 40 pounds in them – not sure but I will be trying to return them.

These are very nice and all of them are large inside. We got this set afraid we wouldn’t have enough room for everything we would need for 3wks vacation and we don’t even need the middle one. It comes with a men’s/ women’s shave/ make up bag as well as a big case for laptops and tablets.

ALL of the cases have extra outside zippered pockets for easy access items or even shoe’s! Love ours!.

I purchased this set for a trip that I just returned from and had not used them before this trip. I only used the largest and the carry on case on the trip. The pull out handle on the largest worked fine and I had 60+ pounds in it.

The carry on with nothing in it or packed, the pull out handle would not lock in position other than fully extended or not extended at all. I was also not happy with the size of the loops on zippers.

I use my own locks when traveling and the loops were too small for them. I am very disappointed with it. I was traveling with my service dog and the carry on by airline with a change of planes. I had a long distance between gates and almost missed my connection because of the difficulty of the handle.

I have not used the other suitcases other than these two. I’m very pleased with the other aspects of the set. The expandability is great. I’m concerned about the zippers lasting.

I am a road warrior in the automation industry. I travel quite a bit bot domestically and internationally. Over the years I have had dozens of pieces of luggage. Most low cost luggage will last a few trips before a handle rips off or a wheel gets broken.

I got my first piece of Swiss gear luggage around 2006. I laptop roller bag, it lasted me 15 years and literally hundreds of trips with dozens of those around the globe. I used it until a wheel fell off.

Several years ago I had picked up a few other pieces of Swiss gear luggage because of how well my laptop bag had held up. This year when my laptop bag needed to be replaced I again went with Swiss gear because of how well they have held up for me over the years.

I was very happy to find out they still had nearly the identical laptop roller bag model available that I had purchased 15 years ago. I also decided to upgrade all of my luggage this year so now i have a complete set of matching Swiss gear luggage.

They arrived within a few days and look great. I think these bags will outlast my days of traveling the world Thank You Swiss Gear! Best Regards.

So I bought this set because I travel A LOT from Perú to the US and the US to Perú. I decided to give this set a try. So far the biggest bag have not troubled me at all, it is very sturdy, I can fit all my traveling outfits there and it’s pretty easy to carry around in case I find myself in a rush.

The second bag is also very sturdy, it is just like the big one to be ones, handles are okay. Since I got them in black they get a little dirty here and there but nothing than a wipe can’t clean. My carry on though is giving me a little bit of trouble with the handle, it’s VERY loose unfortunately, I love it because it allows me to have my hands available but god it’s uncomfortable sometimes, it almost feels like I’ll end with the handle in my hand and the carry on somewhere else.

THAT loose. Either way, yes I recommend this set, I would just suggest keeping and eye on the handles ;).

I purchased this luggage set and have had it for about 1. 5 years and recently I went on vacation and the wheel to the L suitcase broke (the best one to use). I thought when I purchased the luggage set I would be able to use my “warranty” if any accidents happened, I was wrong.

Swiss Gear knows that they can not fix this piece of PLASTIC luggage set so they tell you that you have a warranty for something they won’t fix or replace, and in my case blame TSA and drive back to the airport to file a claim with the airline.

There is no way to replace this wheel I’ve had it looked at because Swiss Gear’s luggage set is plastic and not the hard shell they explain it to be. If the “hardshell” is so hard if any slight crack the whole outer shell will start to split and unfortunately where mine was cracked it split to the wheel and completely broke off.

This is a 4/5 rating based on receiving the product only. I have not used them, so I cannot attest to how they perform. Side note: maybe AT should contact people for a review after enough time has passed for them to actually be able to use their products.

Continuing on, I think the rolling duffel bag is a joke. It’s TINY and there’s no way the average adult could possibly stand up and roll it. You’ll look like an absolute moron, going through the airport.

I should have given more credence to other reviewers comments on the subject. I would have purchased something else, if I had.

We were looking for the original style luggage. This is it. No spinner wheels that end up not rolling after one year. Not luggage that is sloped with small top opening space. Good old fashioned rectangular luggage.

Big, roomy & rolls great. Canvas material is a little more vulnerable than newer styles, but suits our needs just fine.

Decided to return the purchase due to lack of workmanship on the interior of the suitcases. The interior liner didn’t cover the interior plastic of the suitcase, and the welding used to cover the metal binding was covered up by some cheap-looking double sided tape.

Thought I was getting a great deal by paying under $150 for a 4 piece set. Decided to buy Samsonite at Dillards where I had to pay more for a single suitcase but felt better about it.

This is very pretty and lightweight. I like the TSA lock so they don’t break it to get into it and the swivel wheels are great; it moves and turns easily. It is also nicely made on the inside, but it is plastic and after 1 flight, the airline put gouges and scratches all over it.

Since it is obvious that this won’t last as long as my last one that is tapestry material and it’s held up very well for 20 years, I don’t feel that this set is worth the price. At $280 with shipping, I’ll never get that much use out of it, and I doubt it will last more than a few more flights.

Time will tell.

I really like the box. It looks so pretty in person and has enough space to put a lot of things. I only gave it 4 stars because I feel like it might easily break. After my trip with it, I will see how well it holds up.

I have looking into a set for a long time. Im so glad I took my time researching, this set has all the features I was looking for embedded into my favorite color. Rosegold. They are so beautiful that I dont want to use them.

The Samsonite Equilibrium set is so nice! The exterior of the big suitcase is not hard and it is not soft. It’s somewhere in between and it’s durable and dependable. The locking mechanism is so convenient the way it locks into itself.

The big suitcase is expandable and I love that the one side zips closed inside, preventing clothes from falling out when you open the case. I love all the extra pockets and storage space the big suitcase has for all the things.

The suitcase rolls very well on sturdy, built in wheels. The handle extends to the perfect height for movement. The smaller suitcase is soft and durable. It’s the perfect size to be used as a carry on for most airline regulations.

It also has good storage options in it. Together, this is a great set of luggage that I really like so far. I also think they’re made really well and will hold up for many flights. I definitely recommend this brand and am super happy with these products.

The great thing about Samsonite luggage is that even if you aren’t getting the higher end pieces, you still get good value for your money. That’s where the Equilibrium collection ends up for me. It isn’t what I would have bought back when I was literally flying to a different location each week 3 weeks out of the month.

But for my occasional travels now, I like these. First, they are lightweight. You lose a little protection on the hard case, but that’s where you gain the weight advantage. Both pieces are expandable and while the wheels on each piece aren’t the full poly wheels, they do look like they will hold up reasonably well for moderate use.

I like that the large case also has a dedicated liquid pouch. The multiple position levels for the handles are also very convenient.

Great buy, Very Light, looks great, they all fit inside each other for storage when not in use.

They looked really nice when I received them, but one flight and they had wear holes and the emblem coming off. I was really disappointed.

I have this luggage set years ago . They are excellent, strong and durable. I use them a lot for traveling and moving and they are amazing.

This set is great. The larger one is super for one person, but might be cramped for two or more people. I bought this to go on a car trip and it worked out just great. And one of the cases was perfect for my laptop.
