A plasma cutter is a tool that uses plasma to cut through metal. Plasma is a hot, ionized gas that is created by heating up a gas to a very high temperature. When the gas is heated to a high enough temperature, the electrons in the gas become highly excited and start to move around very quickly.
This creates a plasma, which is a highly electrically conductive gas.
The plasma cutter uses this electrically conductive gas to cut through metal. The plasma cutter has a electrode that is connected to a power source. The electrode is placed in the plasma and a current is passed through the electrode.
This current ionizes the gas around the electrode, which creates the plasma. The plasma is then forced through a nozzle, which is held in the other hand of the plasma cutter.
The plasma cutter nozzle is held close to the metal that is being cut. The plasma cutter nozzle has a small orifice, which the plasma is forced through. The high-speed plasma stream cuts through the metal as it passes through the orifice.
The plasma cutter can cut through any conductive material, including steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. The plasma cutter can also cut through non-conductive materials, such as wood and plastic.

50 Amp Digital Inverter Air Plasma Cutter
Automatic Dual Voltage / Dual Frequency (110/220V 50/60Hz)
The Lotos Ltp5000D Pilot Arc Plasma Cutter delivers strong cutting performance in a compact package. The pilot arc feature is especially useful for continuous cutting on rough surfaces or dirty metal.
An optimized design based on state-of-the-art Mosfet transistors provides high power output for thick metal cutting, as well as steady output for thin metal cutting. By employing switch power inverter technology, the dimensions and weight of the main transformer is significantly reduced while efficiency is increased by 30%.
The Ltp5000D is an excellent choice for home DIY jobs and light duty small business projects.
I will buy another one if I ever need it! It has far exceeded my expectations. I have used the heck out of the cutter, dragging it around on a trailer along with my generator and welder cutting hundreds of pipes and anything else.
The ride on that trailer across rough pasture bounces the trailer hard but the cutter just keeps working. I have all high end welders, compressors and generators but decided to go with this low cost plasma cutter.
I did not know what to expect for the money. It’s been just as reliable as my expensive tools.
I was looking for an affordable plasma cutter to work on my utility trailer and other items made of metal. Since these are occasional jobs for personal use, I could not spend an inordinate amount of money on the unit or the consumables.
Since receiving my LTP5000D I have started the required trailer repairs and I can say the unit was easy to assemble, place in operation and make the cuts required. Cutting in a straight line takes practice, but I am more into results than aesthetics.
The unit came wired with a twist lock power plug, so I had to make an adaptor to fit my welding machine wall plug, but everything else need came with the unit, so the set-up was easy. The reviews I read online were worrisome, but for me the initial experience has been very positive.
I’ve not got enough experience on the unit yet to say how reliable it will be long term, but at least it wasn’t DOA.
Was skeptical since it was low priced for a plasma cutter but happy with the performance after using it. Included the majority of accessories to make it usesable. Just needed a few small connections to hook up the air.
The nozzles, electrodes and cups are easily obtained for future use. Make sure if you use the 220 volt powercord that is included with the unit that you have ready when you receive the unit because it is the smaller 30 amp, smaller than my welder uses.
The Forney Easy Weld 20 P is a powerful and easy to use plasma cutter. Weighing only 21. 5 lbs. (9. 75 kilograms), this machine is easily transportable. This plasma cutter also features Drag Torch Technology, which allows you to drag the tip directly on the surface of the material for smooth and precise cuts.
What’s more, this machine is generator friendly and runs off a standard 120V outlet, making cutting on the go easy and efficient. With this plasma cutter, you can clean cut mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized steel, brass and copper up to 1/4″.
This machine can also cut aluminum up to 3/16″. For auto body, farm & ranch, contractor, metal art, and do-it-yourself projects, the Forney Easy Weld 20 P is the ideal choice.
I’ve only had mine for 3 weeks so i can’t speak to the longevity , but so far I am very pleased. The packaging is very good. The machine is plug and play right out of the box. The male quick coupler adapter is even installed and ready for air.
It comes with a quick start guide and a very good owners manual. I own two Hobart welders and the Forney appears to be the same type quality as my Hobarts. The machine looks and feels ” quality ” The performance is just as promised clean cuts through 1/4″ with no problem and i was able to sever cut 3/8 “.
I also did my research on Forney and they have a good reputation in the welding industry. Time will tell concerning quality but so far I am well pleased. I would certainly recommend this machine to anyone looking for a small plasma cutter in the 400 dollars price range.
I would also recommend it over the other 400 dollar price range machines. I purchased a 300 dollar Chinese stick / tig machine a few years ago. I had the exact opposite experience from day one. The instructions were useless 1 page owners manual , if you could even call it that.
The tig torch was a joke , it felt like a cheap toy. The stick welding was also a joke , I started stick welding over 30 years ago so I know what a good welder feels like. With all that being said , so far my experience with the Forney 20 P has been nothing but good.
Had this cutter for 2 weeks and already had to warranty it for another. cutting on thin 1/16 mild steel. Second one is just as much junk as the last. Wouldnt cut and overheats within seconds of turning it on in a 65 degree room right out of the box.
Thoroughly displeased and would never buy again. Perfect waste of 500 bucks. And dont bother trying to warranty this thing more than once. Dont honor their warranty.
For the price you can’t go wrong! I’ve had it for almost 2 months and have cut the sides out of two shipping containers welded them together and then cut windows and door holes out with it. I’ve made some dumb looking art pieces with it and am about to start cutting chunks out of an old farm truck to restore it.
It hasn’t given me an issue yet. if you can run it off a 30 amp generator your cooking. I would buy it again.

Auto-Refire technology is employed that automatically controls the pilot arc when cutting expanded metal or multiple pieces of metal to render superior customer convenience.
The need for manual re-triggering is eliminated that minimizes user hand fatigue.
I bought an older version about eight to ten year ago and it has performed flawlessly. It has a 20’ torch but the basic unit is still the same ot current except the big rubber bumper around the bottom.
I would highly recommend if used on 110v to use a 30a circuit and it will run forever. A 20 amp circuit will pop a breaker if a very long cut is required at full power or maybe a little less. Hypertherm is and has always been the standard of quality Plasmas and by the identical consumables and the torch are all in my opinion Hypertherm and a gut feeling that the unit apart from the paint is all Hypertherm.
Making this plasma a very good quality unit and I have no regrets about buying it. It is a ballsey plasma to say the least ! Juts do the right thing and shop ! Every welding supply place thta sells equipment will have a better price.
The unit worked fantastically right out of the box. Just ad power and air. Yes you have to ad a compressed air fitting to the inlet filter provided to make your compressed air connection and the thing work and the thing worked better than expected.
Great tool to my arsenals of toys to play with. InspectorTom.
Powerful performance in a lightweight package. With up to 40 amps of power, the Airforce 40i can clean cut 5/8-inch and sever cut 7/8-inch steel. It runs on 120-volt or 240-volt power so it’s excellent for light and heavy industrial users.
Weighing less than 22 pounds, it’s easy to transport from one job to another. Setup is easy too; quickly adjust the amperage on the front of the machine with the single knob design.
First, this is a high quality machine and works just as you’ll want. I got this in June ’21 and have used it a LOT, paying for it within 3 months just in savings on high priced acetylene used in a gas torch.
From here on out, I’m buying very little gas for cutting. Second, for bending, I make dashed cuts in whatever I want to bend, do the bending, then if it needs to be strengthed back, just put a quick weld across it.
So the machine is good for bending, too, further saving cost of gas. Metal deformation is almost nil, especially for stainless and aluminum, which is a very welcome improvement over gas torch cutting.
Had this plasma a few weeks now. Wanted to buy a Hypetherm and still kinda wishing I went for the 45, but I’ve got a older transformer base Hobart plasma cutter that I’ve had for years that has never given me a problem.
So looking at prices I decided to go Hobart. I use it for carrying in my truck to do metal buildings, saves a lot of time and lot of cutting blades on the grinder. I use it to cut the purlins and pitch angles.
I think I’ll wind up using it for pipe fencing a lot as well. So far no regrets!.
I am very impressed at the performance of this machine. I do require ALOT of clean dry air, but I’ve cut through 3/4″ plate steel no problem. Also, the prices here at CyberWeld are amazing. I definitely recommend CyberWeld for your purchase.
While waiting for my CUT40, I watched some videos where the machine had issues and the people opened up the machine and void the warranty and try to fix it instead of contacting you and send it back, not to bright, anyway when I watched other videos they said how great it was, I received mine and never used one, so started by plugging it in and it powered right up, adjusted amps to the breaker, adjusted air pressure to 65 psi, and put a piece of steel in a vise it cut BEAUTIFULLY, started learning how to use it and it worked great right out of the box and getting better, I bought a lot of consumables as I learn I have a little over 300.
I also bought welding gloves, helmet, green goggles, a welding spring handle pick hammer for slag, and both carbon and stainless wire brushes, I’m getting better cut the maximum thickness like butter.
GREAT value and machine ! Way to go Jeg’s ! My friend who owned his upholstery business wants to use now ! I put a quick release with a water accumulator and a adjustable pressure valve inline of the air inlet before the machine for easy changing the water accumulator when full.
Cool little plasma cutter. Unpacked, plugged in, hooked up an air hose and blew through some 12 gauge steel, even with paint on it. Lots of fun for a small price. Cutting head and lines are pretty light duty so I would only recommend for occasional home use.
But it’s a tenth of the price of a commercial grade machine and it cuts like crazy!.
I bought this plasma cutter to do automotive and fabrication projects in my home shop. I tried it on 110 and 220 and it works as it should on each. I have used it to cut syeel channel which was 7/16″ at its thickest point and it cut through that nicely.
I just finished a project with quite a bit of cutting 1/8″ aluminum and it worked just as well as much higher priced units that I have used in the past where I was employed. The only difference is that this unit does not have a pilot arc but I haven’t had any problems establishing an arc thus far.
Based on my experience so far, I would definitely recommend this plasma cutter.

Miller Electric 907579001 Plasma Cutter Spectrum 625 90PSI 20ft is manufactured in the United States.
Arrived well packaged and everything was there, including the $250. 00 bonus items that were part of the purchase price. Waited about 10 days for my 60 gallon, 5hp Quincy QT-Pro, and hooked that up along with a cooling tower made from 1/2 inch galvanized pipe.
Put a Milton filter/regulator at the end of the run near my hose connect. Attached a Miller 5 micron filter on the back of the plasma cutter and a Goodyear 3/8 to 1/4 by 25 foot hose. Thats the setup, and today 2/13/2015 turned everything on and got the surprise of a lifetime.
Cut 10 gauge mild steel like it was butter, used a clamp guide on a 5′ X 4′ and drag cut the thing in half so fast ( compared to my oxy-acetylene) I truly was amazed. Probably will adjust to the right speed and hold off, was using the drag tip on salvaged metal and it was catching a lot causing bumps in the road.
Overall, the cut was clean and and fast. Also did complex free hand cuts and they were raggedy because of speed, hand shake and where the hell did that line go. Real easy setup, practically scary the way it just got up and cut, and the slag/dross, stuff on the down side came off easy enough with the hand grinder.
Looks and feels like a well built machine. time will tell as I will use it daily. This unit was processed and shipped with blinding speed. way to go. U. S. A.

Engine Drive Compatible Select a Lincoln Electric Ranger or Vantage to power your Tomahawk in remote locations.
I was hesitant to buy a Lincoln tomahawk plasma cutter due to lack of reviews and information about them. But with the $500 rebate I couldn’t resist. I was looking into getting a hyperthem I’m not new to plasma cutters my friend has a hyperthem 45.
I use very often. But the price was nearly $1000 more. I’m so glad I got the Lincoln I’m am very happy with it. I think they are way underated the performance of the tomahawk 625 us right up there with the hypertherm for alot less money.
I’ve even let a few people cut with my tomahawk that have other plasma cutters and are impressed with it. The sad thing is they didn’t even know Lincoln made a plasma cutter because you never hear or see them advertised.
I hesitated ordering my Lincoln 210mp, tomahawk 625,and lincoln 3350 helmet online cause I didn’t know what to expect. I found welding supplies and IOC online and they had the best prices and good reviews.
I placed my order online on a Sunday night and found that my order had shipped the next business day. even got free shipping!! Both the Lincoln plasma cutter and welder had factory rebates. I found a flyer in my shipment with instructions on how to redeem my rebate.
I called in a week later to add a helmet to my order and found that my sales associate was very friendly, and very knowledgeable with the product I was trying to buy. He processed and shipped my order within a few hours after my phone call so I would receive it within 3-4 days, and of course shipped for free!!! I will be using welding supplies of IOC for ALL my welding and cutting needs in the future!!.
Lincoln electric is a great product as always. But I really would like to focus this review on IOC they have the best prices and are authorized dealers for major brands. Their customer support is top notch.
This is my second big purchase with them first being a miller bobcat 250. and will not be the last. Thanks for being a great honest company who dont shy on customer satisfaction.

Retired builder with an extensive wood and metal shop. I did a huge amount of research on plazma cutters on several internet platforms as I had never owned a plazma cutter and Hypertherm was the machine of choice.
After getting acquainted with the machine, plazma cutting beats Ox/Acet ten to one and beyond. Very impressed with IOC, Hypertherm. And the very informative Hypertherm 45XP owners manual. John Bunday.
I will try and keep this review fairly short, but I generally research purchases that are in this dollar range pretty seriously. I don’t use a plasma cutter very often on our horse farm, but when I need one nothing else really works.
I had purchased another major brand of plasma cutter 7 years ago and only actually used it a half a dozen times before it no longer worked only 4 years after I had purchased it. The manufacturer as well as the local welding shop said that they would have a very hard time finding parts for it and it would be pretty expensive to fix.
Well, it was not an inexpensive machine to begin with so I found an authorized repair shop that could fix it. I used it 1x and then the second time that I went to use it the machine didn’t cut. As it was a weekend and I really wanted to get the job done (cutting curved brackets in 1/4″ steel plate) I bought another of the same brand from the local Farm Supply store (that specs said that it would cut 1/4″ steel plate).
After getting the unit home and set up, it wouldn’t cut the steel plate. The following week I stopped by my local welding supply shop to talk to them about the options (minus the brand that had bitten me twice) and they recommended the Hyperthem products.
After researching the Hyperthem brand online I called IOC to talk to them about the different brands and models that they sell and I settled on the Powermax 45XP as it fit 98% of what I would need it for and their package deals contained the pieces that I would have ordered anyway.
Well, after receiving this unit and setting up, what I had been spending hours trying to accomplish, I cut through in less than a minute, and it did a much cleaner job too. If this machine holds up, and I expect it to given the quality of the components that Hypertherm uses, I will be a true convert.
Both the local ship and IOC confirmed that they have very few service issues compared to the other brands of plasma cutters. Even though they cost a little more than the competition, I think that there is more value in the Hypertherm unit, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
This Hypertherm 45XP is the first plasma cutter I have owned so I am honest to say I could not compare it to another. However, I can hardly believe what it can do. I have used it now for 2 months and it cuts my metal projects so fast and accurately often straight cuts are better than my delta band saw and so much faster.
The torch feels like top quality compared to the imports like at Harbor F, but they are much less expensive and could be good for occasional use, I do not disparage them necessarily. But the ability to quickly cut curves and circles in thick metal is the game changer with plasma.
I cut a good quantity of good stock when I first got it just in amazement of it and had to make a run to get more steel. It is true, you don’t know how you did without something once you get it and find out the time saving value of it.

Comes in a hard case box! That alone is great. You get the extra case of consumables and it’s truly worth the money. Easy to use out of the box. This plasma cutter is seriously worth the money. A fine cutter and a regular cutter.
Can drag along the cutting surface. It takes all the skill out of cutting and leaves an edge that’s easy to clean up. IMO better than oxy-acetylene because it cuts through stainless, aluminum, and steel.
This unit is compact, easily portable and easy to use. I use a lot lower setting on unit to perform the same tasks as a previous unit. The unit came in a contained box that made it safe to ship and store.
The consumables are in a separate case and labeled with part numbers for easy identification.
Heavy-duty work clamp with 20 ft (6. 1 m) cable 10 ft(3 m) power cord with 115 VAC, 20 A plug Extra consumables (3 electrodes, 3 tips, and 1 air fitting) Built-in gas/air filter and regulator XT30 Torch Ergonomic handle with unique no-slip grip, thumb guide and finger contours helps prevents operator fatigue while the flexible cable makes maneuvering easy.
Electronic Pilot Arc Controller automatically controls the pilot circuit to provide expanded metal cutting ability without having to re-trigger the torch, increasing productivity and extending tip life.
Dual input voltage allow either 115 or 230 VAC input power and provides patented protection in case of incorrect switch position. LVC line voltage compensation provides peak performance power under variable conditions (98 to 132 volts) for steady cuts and cleaner ending cuts.
Can be powered by any Miller engine drive with generator power (e. g. Bobcat) or equivalent competitive equipment. Power factor correction uses input power more efficiently, ultimately using less energy.
LED indicators for pressure, power, cup and temperature allow faster troubleshooting. Starts without high-frequency so it will not interfere with or damage controls or computers. Blow Back Torch Design The plasma arc is created by pulling an electrical arc between an electrode and tip.
This process eliminates high frequency by forcing an electrical arc between the two pieces. Post Flow Cooling Circuit Protection to extend the life of consumables and the welding torch is enhanced by our post flow circuit that provides shielding gas after you release the trigger.
I just purchased the NEMA adapter and fired it up this afternoon for the first time. Wow! Like a hot knife through butter, on a 11 gauge, square tubing test material; it is rated to cut cleanly to 7/8″.
The Tomahawk 375 Air plasma cutting system arrives ready to go for fast and precise cutting. With the 375 Air, forget the grinder simply pick up the torch and cut in seconds. Perfect for cutting mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and copper materials up to 1/2 in.
The machine has been great so far. It really shines using the external air compressor and doesn’t get up against the duty cycle as quick. The portability afforded by the internal compressor is a very handy feature however I would recommend using an external compressor if available.
It really does not take a large compressor to operate and works off of my 21 gallon compressor. The consumables seem to last a long time and I am still on the electrode and tip that came in the machine.
I am very satisfied with this machine and would recommend it to anyone who needs a machine with a built in compressor. If the torch was easily removable to facilitate cleaner storage I would have given it 5 stars.
After using this machine for almost a year, I feel like I can make an quality assessment. It looks great and performs as advertised. The onboard compressor is very handy. However, it is frustrating waiting on the machine to reset once you’ve pushed it’s limits.
I mostly cut car body thickness sheet metal and the machine constantly shuts down during long use(over 5 minutes I think). I cannot cut continuously even on low amp settings without some cool down time.
This is a great machine for home use. And with the onboard compressor, it is very portable. I dont know how it would perform in production work, but serves my needs just fine!
Pre-Owned — As one of the largest manufacturers of plasma cutting, tig/stick, arc (MMA) welding equipment in the world, Lotos Techonlogy is proud to offer an extensive selection of industrial plasma cutting machine, LT5000D.
Lotos LT5000D is designed and constructed to withstand extensive use in rugged industrial and construction environments. It is perfect for any home project too. Using this portable plasma cutter is cheaper than Oxyacetylene after just a few cuts.
Less cleaning, less maintenance, less noxious gases, less fire hazard, simply less overall work and a better, cleaner cut. The torch trigger can be moved for a custom fit. It can be used in finger or thumb positions.
Torch head is low profile for tight spaces. High Frequency DC Plasma cuts thicker materials than standard DC plasma cutters. High Frequency Plasma cuts faster with less distortion in the work piece.
Yes, it looks and feels like a toy. NOT A TOY! I was worried about something so small and light being able to do a serious job. I’ve been impressed. The nastiest job I was headed for was salvaging a steel tank with rust and at least 8 coats paint outside and 2 coats inside.
I have spent over 55 years working steel and Acy/Oxy was all I’ve known. until now. It could be better and I know now what to do but right out of the box this little jewel is fantastic! I can hardly wait to get on some clean material to see what it will really do! This is an excellent machine.
Longevity? Time will tell. NOTICE: This unit does not have a pilot arc and has a very sharp learning curve without one. Know your skill level and buy accordingly. Buy the consumables and look for the ones with the taller ‘top hat’ copper part.
I was really surprised by the quality of the Lotos Lt5000D clean cut plasma cutter. The torch itself cuts as good as any that I have used before and I have work in the welding industry all my life. The thickest I cut so far is some 1/4 in steel.
I did take the cover off when I first got it and done an inspection of it. The plug that the the torch plugged into was a little lose but was easily tightened with a crescent wrench. For a cheap cutter I would recommend this product to anybody want a torch for home.

Reviews From Real Customers
Bought this for mostly small projects of 3/8″ and thinner. It says it will sever 5/8″ mild steel using 220volts, tried it,, NO WAY! 1/2″ not really. A very messy. almost not a cut. At best it will cut 3/8″ OK.
A lot of slag to grind away. But on thinner steel (1/4″ and below) it works as it should. Making some NICE clean cuts. Don’t forget that on 110volts you would only be able to cut half of these thicknesses.
So it will do what I need it to. I’ll probably only use it a few times a month. And just use the cutting torch on the thicker metal over 3/8″. At about $400 bucks it isn’t a real cheap one but also far from being a name brand one for $1200 to a couple thousand.
I got the extended warranty just in case. So all in all, it will do about 80% of the things I want to cut with nice clean cuts. If I get couple years out of it I’ll be Happy!.
After fails with other brands of plasma cutter both strike and pilot arch I took a look at a couple of the big retailers to see what they were selling and decided to take a closer look at the Lotus LTP5000D.
Weeks of reading reviews and specs on all these different models I pulled the trigger and placed my order. On time I received the package containing the plasma cutter. The item was packed much better and more professional that the other plasma cutter I had ordered.
Unpacked the box and noticed the torch was very well made and the design was for ease of use, the housing was thick and looked very durable and was very easy to hook up. The entire plasma cutter took less than 2 minutes to unpack and set up for operation.
I hooked it up adjusted the air to 60psi and the amperage to 30 amps. Thought I would start with a practice cut on some 1/4 thick square stock. In about 3 seconds my cut was thru and I was moving forward with the cut.
I cut all 4 sides of the 3″ x 1/4 thick square stock in less than a minute. Minimal slag and a very clean cut. Wish I would have just ordered the Lotus LTP5000D to start with r4ather than wasting the time with placing the order for the Simadre, Finding out it was DOA, doing the return and finding out the replacement was DOA.
Weeks wastedon others and problem solved immediately with the Lotus.
For 1/4″ plate and less this is a very good unit. For 3/8″ and above the unit is limited even with 230V input. The length of the ground lead is too short. OEM should supply same length of ground cable as torch length at 12ft.
Add another $30USD to the sale price to cover the additional length of grounding wire makes this a no brainer. With thicker material, expect the consumables to increase. I am still curious to why they say only certain types of consumables work with the brown unit.
The more expensive consumables I purchased are not the color of the consumables shown in pics. I think this may be a sales tactic.
The Hobart AirForce 27i Plasma Cutter With Multi-Voltage Plug is an economical plasma cutter system for all conductive metals. Inverter-based design and reliable technology pack a lot of performance into a very portable package.
The AirForce 27i features a multi-voltage plug (MVP) that allows a user to connect to common 120V or 240V power receptacles. The XT series torch and long life XT tips and electrodes provide added performance to an already exceptional plasma cutter.
Plasma cutters cut faster and more precisely with a thinner kerf and less slag than cutting with oxy fuel. A smaller heat-affected zone also causes less warping. Age Group: adult.
This thing is amazing. I have been welding for over 30 years as a hobbyist and have always wanted a plasma cutter to use instead of oxy/act. I finally bit the bullet but its worth every penny. I took it out of the box and after hooking up the air line was cutting in just a few minutes.
I cut some 1/8 metal and some 3/8 and for me it cut both just as good. I seriously cut out my first initial on my second cut and it was almost perfect. Had I tried that with with oxy/act torch you would have asked what letter it was.
Go with Hobart, its worth the extra money. Also go with Cyberweld. I was worried about buying a cutter online but I called them I they couldn’t have been nicer. After that I ordered it and it was here in a few days.
I was skeptical about buying a “refurbished” unit but it was $500 cheaper than new. It was in like new condition with all of the assesories and manuals. Cuts thru steel like a hot knife thru butter. I’m very satisfied with my purchase!.
It runs on either 110v or 220v outlets, providing amazing go-anywhere versatility. It comes with the accessories you need to unpack it and get to work. 50-Amp & 110v/220v Features: This 50-amp plasma cutter can go through 1/2-inch thick steel in a single pass when running on 240 volts.

This feature by itself adds value the competition cant match at this price point. Our staff is easy to get in touch with and know how to keep your PrimeWeld machine working its best.
I purchased my D50D plasma cutter on a whim. I looked them up and this one popped up and I was impressed with the price and reviews. I didn’t really need one but for that price I could sure use it and it wouldn’t hurt the wallet too bad.
I received it in Florida 2 days after placing the order. Awesome fast free shipping, one plus already. I got to use it today on a 55 gal drum turning into a burn barrel. It came ready to use. Just plug in an air hose and the power cord.
(it even had the same 220 plug as my welder, so add another plus. I had never used one before, but it was like I had used one for years. It cut thru that top like butter with a clean cut to boot. Cut that top off in minutes.
and no grinding for clean up. I am impressed with this little machine and I highly recommend it.
This machine is great! I tried it out the day it showed up. The thickest material I was able to cut so far was 3/8†but everything I cut was smooth and clean and cut like butter. I also have the primeweld tig 225 machine and was amazed by how capable that machine was.
So with being very impressed with the tig welder I purchased this plasma cutter and I was definitely impressed again I will continue to buy these machines for my shop/business. Now I just need to get the MiG welder and try that as well.
I just wish they had one that was bigger and more capable for heavier duty MiG welding. Other than that you can’t go wrong purchasing any of these machines. If you are thinking about don’t waste your time just buy it these machines are totally worth it.
I haven’t used it yet but like everyone said, shipping was really fast and very very well packaged. It arrived assembled and in fine condition. all the parts appear to be high quality/well made. Finish of unit is very nice.
The cutting torch is also very nice in that it’s got a trigger guard and a strain relief on the cable. The 3 year included warranty, no extra cost, that’s reassuring. I will report my experience with it when I finally have a chance to use it.
The Hypertherm Powermax 65 plasma cutter fits well with our CNC plasma systems. This unit features 3/4 inch pierce and cut capacity in the manual form, and 1/2 inch production cutting capacity when equipped on a CNC plasma table.
The Hypertherm plasma cutters feature conical flow for increased arc energy density, resulting in superior cut quality.
Bought back in March I think and it is now July 14th 2021 and still have not received it. There saying maybe in September. If your looking to buy you may want to go find one somewhere else. They are quick to draft your payment when you click buy but don’t send it for months.
Torch packs big cutting power in a small package. The industry’s most portable and powerful 40-amp plasma cutter offers 5/8 in. mild steel cutting, easy connection to 120V or 240V input with Auto-Line technology and MVP Adapters.
Ultra-Quick Connect XT40 Torch Connect and disconnect at your leisure. The old Spectrum’s were hard-wired so the torch cable was subjected to added wear and tear and storage was a pain. The Ultra-Quick Connect solves that problem; allowing you to quickly disconnect the torch cable for easy storage.

Automatic Gouging Consumable Detection Detects gouging consumables and adjusts gas pressure to optimize performance, eliminating the need for a manual regulator.
I have owned a Miller 210 for years without a single issue so when looking for a plasma cutter I first was thinking go for a cheaper brand since it wasn’t going to be heavy use. But then I considered a time whereas the tool i need for a job was broken, that would not be a good day in the garage.
So I settled on the 625 with the shorter torch. I did consider the linger lead but once you see how compact this thing is, moving it to the place of use isn’t an issue. Having a heavy duty 220V extension is a good idea which likely you already have for your welder.
Cyberweld is great, arrived in 2 business days and was just as described. Setup was seamless, both the air coupler and power lead fit my existing equipment. Next i gave a quick read of the instructions and started cutting.
Compared to an old Linde i had used, this thing is ridiculous!! Cuts 5/8″ like butter and i cut 3/4″ with a bit of slag but if in a pinch it will do it. Buy it and you will not regret it. Go cheap and do complain with what you get.
I am a fairly novice welder and a “newbie” to the plasma cutter. I am learning the skills since my wife and I are building a Shipping Container home. Its not your typical drop it on the ground, cut in a door and a window and live in it.
It’s been designed by an architect for a hillside lot. There will be 4 containers, 6 doors, and 15 windows. All will have to cut from the sides with some precision. I took the new cutter to school last Tuesday and all the instructor could say was “sweet”.
He showed me and a few others how to use it and then we practiced. Wow, it cuts like butter. I made two “house number” signs in 20 minutes each in 3/16″ steel. Freehanded all the numbers! They look rustic and great on t he rusted steel.
We played with 1/2″ steel and it just burned right through. I can’t wait to cut the door and window holes from the containers in such “thin” CorTen steel after cutting with ease through the 1/2″.
The inverter technology in this CHICAGO ELECTRIC WELDING Plasma Cutter makes it powerful enough for most jobs, yet at just 11. 6 lb. it is lightweight and portable. Ideal for cutting cast iron, steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminum, titanium and magnesium alloys.
I was a bit trepidatious the first time I used it. Was delighted how well it worked. It will take some practice to get the type of control I desire. I have used a wooden template to cut some perfect circles.
Quiet, lightweight & powerful. This cuts thinner metal with ease and takes up minimal space in your garage/shop. A great investment for the casual user, or a professional that works with thinner material.
I wasn’t expecting it to work as well as it did for the price, but it cuts through sheet metal with ease. I bought because a cutoff wheel was taking forever. It just takes a couple practices and then a steady hand.

5×10 Hypertherm plasma cutter table is designed to cut both sheet metals and metal pipes with 4th rotary axis, the best 5×10 plasma table adopts Hypertherm plasma power supply to get fine cutting for metals, and add a rotary device to cut metal tubes.
Honestly, I cant believe it works well for the money. I bought the STP1530R with 105A Hypertherm in Jan. Worked good right out of the box. Ive only used it with 220v. I am not a pro fabricator, or welder.
More like an advanced homeowner. I bought this because I own some heavier equipment and have needed better metal cutting capability for too long. So I ordered it. Several hours in use and no issues. I cut 8 inch carbon steel sheet and 3/4 inch pipe, with this cuts it like hot butter.
dont normally do reviews but this thing is worthy. Youre gonna freak out how easy and awesome it is. You wont know how you lived without a plasma cutter. As far as longevity well see how it does.
This cutter is just amazing, full disclosure, this is the first Hypertherm plasma table Ive ever bought, but I have used an acetylene and oxygen torch plenty of times. There is simply no comparison between the technologies.
Gas is better for certain things, and plasma for others. In my little home shop most of what I cut is mild steel between 1/2 and 1/8 thick, this unit make short work of the task. Just run it at the recommended power supply all the time and it will go through whatever you ask it very neatly and precisely.
I cant say enough good things about this plasma cutter. Actually it would make sense to call it a metal fabrication machine because not only can you cut iron and steel of almost every type but, this machine will cut it with CNC.
The CNC system is my favorite part of this machine as it makes cutting metal as smooth as butter.
A plasma cutter is a tool used to cut through electrically conductive materials, such as metal, using a plasma torch. Plasma cutters use a variety of gas mixtures, but all use a gas that is ionized in order to create plasma.
This plasma is then used to create an electric arc that is used to cut through the material.
Plasma cutters are a versatile tool that can be used for a variety of applications, such as cutting metal for welding, fabrication, or repair. Plasma cutters can also be used to cut through other electrically conductive materials, such as copper, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Plasma cutters are a relatively new technology, and as such, they are constantly evolving and becoming more efficient and powerful. As plasma cutters continue to evolve, they will become an increasingly useful tool for a variety of applications.
