20 Best Ve Schwab Books (2022 Updated)

HOLY WOW THIS BOOK WAS GOOD. I’m not joking – I WAS HOOKED, in a way that I haven’t been in a LONG time! I remember seeing this image of V. E. Schwab with her notes on the floor, re-plotting Vengeful and, when I read it, I could see the work that went into making this masterpiece the best it could be.

With the exception of the ending, I wouldn’t have changed a THING about this book, but even then, I’ll give it five glowing stars because THAT WAS A GREAT READ. THINGS I LOVED: 1. THE STRUCTURE: From past to present, varying between character and character, the structure – and the mystery that that structure brought – was what brought Vengeful to life.

Everything about this book was darker and twist-ier than Vicious as the fight wasn’t just Eli V Victor anymore, but with other equally powerful EOs, government agencies and slightly deranged scientists now in the mix.

It was shocking and heart-wrenching and if you loved even a moment of Vicious, you’ll ADORE Vengeful. 2. VICTOR: I REALLY loved how Victor’s story progressed in this book. It was juicier and darker, because he was fighting for his own survival and OH WOW I LOVED IT.

3. THE FINAL BATTLE: I loved the culmination battle of Marcella VS Victor VS Eli VS the task force and all the power and the twists. I wish the CONCLUDING scene with Victor was a little more fleshed out, but I enjoyed it all regardless.

MY VERDICT: Get your hands on this series NOW. Vicious and Vengeful are absolutely, deliciously mind-blowing, dark and twisty and everything you would expect from a book about villains!.

Why, why does this book have reviews for a different book on it?! There are three reviews that are for Vicious, the first book of this duology, and most importantly – NOT THIS BOOK. There are also reviews on the spine, why?! It loojs awful, I absolutely hate the review on the spine.

It’s making me question whether I should buy from Booktopia, because this book does not look like it does in the pictures for the listing.

This was a good sequel to vicious and full of great characters, however it never quite matches the original novel and was a bit of a slog at times. it was very enjoyable though and very well written..

This trilogy is incredible! I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of fantasy. The second book (A Gathering of Shadows) is by far my favourite in this trilogy (but they do keep getting better as the books continue).

If you like awesome magic users, a witty ensemble of characters with well written romances- then you really will find it all in this series. You just can’t go wrong with any V. E Swab books!.

While I do feel similar to this second book as I did with the second book in The Broken Earth trilogy (The Obelisk Gate) in that it felt more of a setup for the final book, I do think that it kept my attention enough to warrant five stars.

Call me cynical, but I’m not a huge fan of competition/games in books because it always takes me back to Harry Potter and the tournament in it. In this book, though, the tournament wasn’t the novel’s entirety, and the way that V.

E. Schwab wrote it made me engaged, even though it felt in someway a little unimportant, and a tool for Lila to figure more out about herself (even though I think we all knew in the first book). It does end in a cliffhanger, and luckily I have the final book sitting next to my bed, ready for me to dive right in.

This book was amazing! I love Lila and Kell. I also love Rhy and Alucard. You really got to see more of Rhy’s character and I really love him. Alucard is a very interesting character. He was so mysterious and secretive.

He’s also hilarious and at the end when he was holding Rhy. my feels. I love the Essen Tasch as well. it was cool seeing all the magicians’ power on display. I really hate king Maxim and queen Emira.

I hate how they treat Kell, and I constantly wanted to strangle them. Had a really bad cliffhanger.

3. 5 stars I enjoyed this book, especially the premise. I’ve never read a book like this or really similar and now days it’s hard to find a book so original. This book; however, was not as amazing as I was expecting.

I found myself putting it down often and not caring much about reading it BUT I have been in a book slump lately!! I do highly recommend this book! It’s fun and interesting and I loved the science behind it.

The characters were flushed out and well rounded. Throughout the book I couldn’t decide which side was “Good” and “Evil”. There was a very fine line between what’s right and wrong and I loved that!.

This book is amazing. The classic hero versus villain but with a twist. The characters will make you love and hate them! The author jumps through perspectives of the characters looking at how a friendship and passion for science can go very wrong.

V. E Schwab weaves the beautifully dark story of action and emotions.

I would have liked to see more world-building but the story was very well done. The main characters are flawed and villainous but you still understand their points of view even if you don’t agree with them.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes the story of superpowered beings who are less than heroic.

For sure the best book I’ve read so far in 2022! The character building is amazing, especially with Adele. This book grabs you from the start and never let’s go. And don’t even get me started on the ending, just when you think you’ve figured out what’s going to happen it hits you with a twist.

And when you thought it’s over the last chapter kicks you in the kidney! What a ride man, love love love this book. I somewhat wish for a happier ending but this ending had balls and guts and its unpopular which makes it amazing.

I saw the Netflix series first which drew my interest in reading the book. I like to know the hidden details the shows always leave out. In comparison they were very closely made. The twist at the end literally made my mouth drop open, it was the best twist I’ve read recently.

The book does get a little confusing going back and forth between now and then and characters but it was fun. 5 starts for the show 4 for the book (no authors hard work deserves 1 star, it’s usually just the reader) :).

This is the story of a twisted love triangle. That is the easiest way to describe this book without giving anything away. Adele and David are new to town. David, a psychiatrist, joins the office where Louise works.

The more that Louise learns about David and Adele, the more she realizes that she doesn’t know. And that makes for a mind twisting adventure for the reader. This is not an action-packed story, but it is one that compels you to keep reading.

I slowed my normal reading pace almost immediately after starting this book; I knew that this was going to be like nothing I had read before. Thought Adele, David and Louise are three major players, the book is told in alternating timelines, as well as alternating viewpoints.

With Adele, you are given glimpses of her life before and her life presently. But you also get to read from Louise’s perspective as she is entrapped in the mystery of David and Adele. To be honest, her involvement and the fall-out from it was genuinely her own fault.

There were quite a few moments where she could have walked away, starting at the very beginning. But no, she just couldn’t let it go. That is about all I can comfortably say without giving anything away.

Follow the breadcrumbs that are left along the pages and you will reach the truth of the story a step or two before Louise, but it may be too late. The ending makes absolutely perfect sense, but it is such a mind-blowing ending that I was left wondering how I could have missed such a natural conclusion.

I enjoyed the story, and the experience of reading it. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, but especially if you like psychological thrillers, or twisted love.

This book is set in a world unlike any other that I have read before. I’m a big fan of dystopian/fantasy worlds, but they can easily get repetitive at times. Not this book though – the ways that the monsters are created/why they are “born” as certain species/what their characteristics are – it’s just so different! Another plus is that there is no unnecessary romance in this book! I really enjoyed it, it was a thrilling time and the ending left me wanting more!.

I typically love all Victoria Schwab and I was only slightly disappointed. This savage song is an amazing new world with deep relatable characters. It just didn’t seem to have as much thought and amazingness as some of her other series.

I haven’t picked up the second book but I plan to when I have a chance.

This book is a fantastic fantasy YA novel, with little to no romance. It felt different than any other YA fantasy that I’ve read before, and I really enjoyed reading about both main characters. Can’t wait to read the second one!.

I LOVE this series. It is the perfect balance of dark and haunting, while still being fun and accessible to kids. Cassidy Blake died, or nearly died, and somewhere during her cross over she got herself a best friend : living-impaired Jacob.

One foot on either side of life and death, she and her ghostly friend are now able to cross through The Veil and see how people died. These books are fun, and I stand by collecting them whenever they come out.

They have that Tim Burton kids movie feel and those of us who grew up with those will LOVE these. What a great October read.

Enjoyable, action packed and spooky series. Love the themes of friendship, courage and kindness throughout.

Aside from the creepiness that comes from any ghost story, the touch of true historical aspects made the story even more real. Being able to envision what these places or people looked like because they were real captured me in a special way.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.

I really love the world of this series-the magic system and the way the story interacts with the familiar world is so engaging. I would happily spend more time in this story, reading more of Lila’s adventures.

” I dare say, because I know this will be considered a sin on Bookstagram or Booktok. I have never read a V. E. Schwab book before Gallant. I keep telling myself I will purchase that Invisible Life book, but I just never do.

🙈 After this read though, I’m definitely going to give some other books by this author a shot. Was this a good book? Yes. Absolutely. Now I can’t compare it to past books obviously. But as a new V. E.

Schwab fan, it was a lovely book with an interesting story and fantastically odd characters. I do feel like I was let down in the creepy department. Yes, at some points it was genuinely creepy. 👻 I maybe shouldnt have been reading it so late at night.

😅 But overall, I feel it could have been more creepy. This seemed like a book aimed for younger readers then I was expecting. So that also could be why it’s not as creepy as I feel it could have been if thats the case.

But the world building was lovely! I really felt like I was immersed into the world that I was reading about. The characters too were so odd and fun. The story fell a bit short for me. I enjoyed it, but I can’t help but feeling it was a bit incomplete.

I still really liked it though, don’t get me wrong! I would definitely recommend it to people I feel would enjoy the creeper type of stories. That cover. Wow. That cover itself would make me pick this book up! 😍.

Hauntingly beautiful! If I didn’t have twin 2 year old boys who needed constant supervision and the need for sleep, I would have easily read this book in one sitting. VE has done it again with capturing my attention right from the start.

Haunted houses, family secrets, and an orphaned girl who is just looking to belong. A mysterious wall, a locked door, and a girl who sees ghouls. This book is written with such colorful words that it is so easy to picture the world and the events as they are happening.

I will definitely be rereading this soon.

This was my first ever V E Schwab novel! This novel is targeted at younger readers but as someone in my early 20s, I still found this enjoyable. It was simple and easy to read yet still incredibly haunting.

The language was gorgeous and the plot (while a little bit predictable) was still unique and intriguing. An absolutely great read!.

Lots of twists and turns. A little spicy, you genuinely feel for the characters. I loved the first book and this just added more. Looking forward to the next installment. I screamed with joy at the end and was in a haze for a few hours.

This book was incredible! I did not see that ending coming. Sarah J. Maas is brilliant. If you love sci-fi/fantasy/adventure/romance – you will not be disappointed to get this series, or any of Sarah’s books!.

Moriarty returns to her domestic drama heartland in her latest release, Apples Never Fall. The dual timeline narrative follows the members of the Delaney family in suburban Sydney. Recently retired parents Joy and Stan remain highly competitive tennis players after selling their successful coaching academy.

Their four adult children – Amy, Logan, Troy and Brooke – were also each successful junior players, none of whom managed to break into the professional circuit, and each face challenges in their personal and/or professional lives.

The Delaney’s comfortable, if imperfect, lives are impacted by the sudden arrival of Savannah, a young woman who knocks on Joy and Stan’s front door one night, seeking assistance after experiencing domestic violence.

The Delaney parents take her into their lives, offering her a temporary home, despite the misgivings of their four children. Some months later, Joy Delaney goes missing during a bike ride to the nearby shops.

When she makes no contact, police begin to suspect foul play, and their investigation focusses on patriarch Stan. The situation places inevitable pressures on the remaining members of the family and their interrelationships.

I found Apples Never Fall an engrossing domestic drama, with a healthy dose of intrigue and second-guessing of each of the characters’ motivations and secrets. While not always particularly likeable, I found each of the central characters well-developed and identified with the concept that different members of the same family often have different recollections of the same events and that the scars borne in childhood often run deep.

The conclusion was well-crafted and satisfying, but like other readers I felt that the novel could perhaps have ended more successfully at the end of chapter 70. While intriguing, the rather macabre final twist felt superfluous and jarring.

I’d encourage readers who enjoyed Moriarty’s early work – such as The Husband’s Secret and Big Little Lies – to give this one a try. To my mind it’s a return to form after her more experimental 2018 release Nine Perfect Strangers.

Apples Never Fall is the ninth novel by best-selling Australian author, Liane Moriarty. When sixty-nine-year-old Joy Delaney goes missing on Valentine’s Day after a garbled text message to her four children, they are understandably concerned, especially as certain things (an argument that morning, scratches on his cheek, a professional car clean) sort of make their father, well-known tennis coach, Stan Delaney look guilty.

Joy’s disappearance and her subsequent lack of communication is completely out of character so, of course, the Delaney siblings report their mother missing. Stan is strangely reticent when questioned by the police, and his adult children are being quite selective with what they reveal about their family.

Detective Senior Constable Christina Khoury is finding it difficult to get a handle on this family. “On the surface they seemed loving and cheerful but she could sense dysfunction bubbling ominously beneath their sporty, matter-of-fact demeanours.

” While the siblings are all very different, they do seem to agree that a potentially precipitating incident occurred during the previous September, when a mysterious young woman named Savannah was staying with the Delaney parents, and when tennis star (and their father’s former protégé) Harry Haddad announced a comeback.

Only much later is it admitted that this was when some sensitive revelations were made, criticisms voiced and long-standing resentments aired. As well as split-time narratives from multiple character perspectives, the story is told by conversations overheard or gossip shared by the waitress, the beauty therapist, the physio patient, the Uber driver, the journalist, the neighbour, the receptionist, the hairdresser, and others.

Some readers may find this too much of a slow-burn as Moriarty lays down the detail of the lives of each member of the Delaney family, but patience and persistence is rewarded as the story develops, with each new twist, turn and wrinkle adding another layer of intrigue before the dramatic reveal.

Moriarty gives the reader a level of intimacy with these characters that may cause a lump in the throat on several occasions in the final chapters. A perfect mix of humour, heartache and drama, Moriarty’s latest does not disappoint.

‘Apples never fall’ by Liane Moriarty. I enjoyed this. She’s great at setting her characters in modern Australia, so all their predicaments are relatable and understandable, but without pinpointing present day events.

An elderly couple, Joy and Stan, who set up a tennis school, have four adult children, all of whom were very good at tennis but never made the top rankings. They have all left home. One of their students did, however, win grand slams but only after he left their school.

A young woman, fleeing from a violent situation, seeks refuge with them. She makes herself indispensable in the home, but. Joy goes missing, police are involved, and gradually bits of the family’s history are unfolded.

The resolution is all a bit unlikely, and relies on the reader remembering some very small details. Disappointing conclusion.

If I’m being entirely honest, I’d been waiting for this book for well over a year. It’s easily my most highly anticipated 2021 release and I’m happy to say, Kristoff absolutely delivers. Not only is this story right up my proverbial alley, gritty and bloody.

with plenty of suffering to go around, Kristoff’s writing skill also seems to reach a pinnacle here. While managing to maintain the rough edges his stories and characters are known for, there’s a dark refinement at work within the pages.

I saw someone mention once that this book. to paraphrase. makes The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice look like an opening act. While I don’t know that I agree with that, it isn’t because the writing in Empire isn’t superb.

There’s no doubt this book is a masterpiece of fiction, but rather because it’s a wholly different kind of monster– (Complete review at Betwixt the Sheets. ) (I received this title as an ARC, but also purchased multiple copies.

I started reading this masterpiece at a slow pace in a group read. I finished reading this by bingeing over 500 pages in a day because I couldn’t stop reading. I laughed, I cried, I finished it at 4am and felt so hollow inside I can’t even describe it.

This is a work of art. Jay Kristoff is beyond talented. This book is so much death and destruction done in such a beautiful, yet horrific way. I can’t explain how overwhelmed in emotion this left me.

I have few words. Seriously. just read this. 10 stars. This is now my favorite book. Everyone loves to ask me what my favorite book is and I always respond that I can’t possibly pick a favorite. Yeah well, this is it.

⚠️ This is NOT a YA book. The vampires in this book are not friendly. There’s also a good amount of cursing and a little smut. Definitely not YA.

Great book, I couldn’t put it down. I was searching for a book that was fantasy with a male lead that wasn’t just a love story or war novel and this was the perfect blend of fantasy elements with the right amount of adult content so I didn’t feel like I was reading another teen novel, I would put it in the same category as “The name of the wind” by Patrick Rothfuss.

I went out and bought every other book from this author not long after, this was by far his best and I cannot wait for the second book.

If you’ve ever involuntarily blurted out ‘And I’m Britt’, this is the book for you. If you’ve pounced on this book before reading the blurb, allow me to enlighten you: this is a novel, not a super long episode of Crime Junkie in book form.

Not that I’d ever open a book, see A Novel after the title and question every assumption I’ve ever made. All Good People Here (A Novel) primarily takes place in Wakarusa, Indiana, where Ashley and Britt grew up.

In 1994, six year old January Jacobs died. Everyone in town knew Krissy, January’s mother, murdered her but the case has officially remained unsolved. “You don’t want to go back to that sad little town where that terrible thing happened.

” Margot hasn’t lived in Wakarusa for twenty years but has returned to care for her beloved Uncle Luke. When a young girl is reported missing in a nearby town, Margot believes the person who killed her childhood friend has struck again.

Margot is determined to use her crime reporting skills to solve the cases but she seems to be the only one seeing their similarities. This may be a small town but many of its residents are living with secrets.

“What did you do?” Hearing the story from Krissy and Margot’s perspectives, you learn about the dynamics of the Jacobs’ family, how the investigation into January’s death unfolded and the impact it has had on everyone close to the case in the subsequent years.

A few key details about January and her death made me think of JonBenét Ramsey. Once I made that connection, I had trouble seeing anything else. I enjoyed tagging along as Margot followed up leads, although I did get a bit bogged down at times with what was happening with Luke.

I guessed some of the reveals but, rather than being disappointed by this as I usually would be, it made me feel like I was being a good Crime Junkie. It’s taken me two weeks since finishing this book to attempt writing a review and that’s mostly due to the last time we see Margot in this book.

Readers will likely either love or hate this scene. I loved it but, because I don’t want to get all spoilery, I can’t tell you why I loved it and that’s what I really want to talk about. I’m looking forward to reading future books by Ashley.

Three days. That’s how long it took to read this book. First I want to begin by saying this: In 2020 when COVID hit and the shutdowns happened, I was straight BORED. I wasn’t working, my kids were home, and my husband wasn’t working any of his side jobs.

So I turned to a podcast. And that podcast was Crime Junkie. I put zero thought into what podcast. I just chose one and went with it. Still 2 years later, multiple podcasts, and Crime Junkie is still my favorite.

When I found out she was releasing a book I KNEW I had to read it. I had very high expectations for this book. I want to say that this was an excellent book and most definitely lived up to the hype. What I wish however, was some more closure in the ending.

Now, I won’t say more because I don’t wanna ruin it. But for me I could have handled ONE MORE CHAPTER. I will say though that coming from the creative side of my brain, I knew what she was doing by NOT having that full closure.

It for sure left my brain spinning and going into circles on what would have happened. And is that real life? Yes. Something I appreciate about this book: I did NOT figure out “whodunit. ” I had my suspicions and granted the person who did it was one of them, I just wasn’t for sure.

I loved how it all came together in the end. Overall this was an excellent thriller! I highly recommend!.

The book was OKAY… The storyline is pretty cool, but the book is extremely slow to start. Like, not-interesting-until-page-120, slow to start. There are also quite a few run on sentences in this book, which is frustrating for me personally.

The “f-word” is often used unexpectedly & unnecessarily as well. It doesn’t fit with the theme of the conversation or book, ever. The writing seemed to get lazy toward the ending. The second to last chapter, when everything “goes down” (for lack of a better term) it is rushed and can be classified as unrealistic.

Overall, the book was alright. The ending was a surprise – that’s for sure. Definitely not my favorite, though.

I bought the entire trilogy to read through before watching the show. I had read Six of Crows a few years before, so I was really excited to read this! Although I enjoyed Six of Crows more, I found Alina Starkov to be a hilarious and witty character as well as an enjoyable protagonist.

And to have a fantasy world set in the equivalent of Russia was an interesting choice, but I think Miss Bardugo pulled it off well! I gave myself a goal of reading 50 pages a day, so I could finish quickly and watch the show, but I found myself far exceeding that quota.

The story just sucked me in and I was lost between the pages every time I would pick it up, and it was delightful! Although I always recommend reading the books before watching the adaptations, I actually find it unnecessary for this book.

Frankly, I recommend watching the show first, since it’s wonderfully written and produced! That way, you can enjoy it without having the constant nagging thoughts about how different it is than the books because they certainly made a lot of changes, but it works! Both are great, but shouldn’t be compared to each other.

TL;DR: the book is great, but isn’t necessary to read first if you want to watch the show!.

So I have heard a lot of good things about this series and I kept putting off reading it and I’m upset that I did. The world building is amazing and descriptions throughout the book make you feel like you are right there.

The only complaint that I have is that there was some poor character development and a couple characters fell a little flat for me. This could totally change in the next book so don’t hold me to that yet.

Also this wasn’t like the YA books that I am used to reading. That being said if you are reading newer YA books that tackle tough conversations and address hard to hear topics, this isn’t like that. This isn’t a reflection on Leigh Bardugo’s writing at all its just that YA novels have come very far and they tackle tougher subject matter now than they did 5-10 years ago.

This in my opinion reads more like a middle grade with older characters.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would!!!! It’s seriously one of the best I’ve read in a very long time. It doesn’t take long for action to start, and by that I mean like the 2nd or 3rd chapter lol.

The writing is phenomenal and just when you think you know what’s about to happen it does a complete 180!!! This author knows exactly what emotions she’s writing for in every scene and knows exactly what to write in order to get them.

It’s an emotional roller coaster and it’s PHENOMENAL!!!! It’s got action, romance, and fantasy so who wouldn’t love it?!.

This book was absolutely gut-wrenching. You’ve Reached Sam is an emotion filled book that explores one girl’s grief after losing her boyfriend Sam in a tragic accident. One day, desperate to hear his voice again, she calls him only to hear him pick up on the other end.

I highly recommend this book to any reader who wants a good cry and an emotion filled read.

Even though you already know what’s going to happen. Quite obvious from the general story line. You still ball your eyes out. Main character is annoying but relatable to someone who is in grieving. Such a beautiful story that includes cultural elements that relate to the characters.

GET THIS BOOK! I cried so many times. It truly is amazing and well written. I absolutely loved it. I wish I could read it for the first time all over again. The cover is also beautiful!

Grand Admiral Thrawn is my very favorite character in the Star Wars universe, as introduced by Timothy Zahn in the first half of the 1990s with his “Heir to the Empire” trilogy. In my estimation, those books would have made a better basis for Episode VII.

When Zahn released “Thrawn” in 2016 it was clear the Galactic Empire’s brightest mind was back in force. “Thrawn: Alliances” is an interesting look at the early days of the clone wars where Anakin Skywalker meets Thrawn, and “Thrawn: Treason” closes this new and worthy trilogy with great satisfaction.

If you’re a fan of the Legends series for Star Wars, this will almost assuredly be a great addition to your library.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters. I really enjoyed the previous two books about him. This one is no exception. I love all the plot twists and interesting characters.

This book is a great way to learn more about this character. It sheds some light on how he interacts with his fellow Imperials and how he thinks.

This is an awesome book series and great for a wide age range. My 3rd grader reads at an 8/9th grade level and it keeps his interest while also being appropriate for his age. The graphic novel is a quick read but adds an extra element to the book.

He loves to read them over and over.

My daughter is 11 years old and obsessed with Wings of Fire. She loves all the graphic novels and read the entire book as soon as she got it.

My 10 yo loves it! He has all the chapter books and graphic novels at this point and was super excited for this new book.

This could possibly be the best book I’ve ever read. Never have I been so captivated and hopelessly addicted to a book as I was this one. It really is wonderfully written and a truly fitting end (actually quite upset that it’s now come to a head) to what was probably one of my new favourite series.

You will not want to put it down, wait, scratch that. you will not be able to put it down! I am well aware that it is aimed at young adult but I am in my late 20’s and will read almost anything and everything and honestly don’t put this down because of the section you found it in.

The series is brilliant and I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants an addictive series that they can re-read as much as they like. Don’t assume that the writing, because of the demographic it’s aimed at is anything less than perfect either, Maas really has a way of keeping the flow of the story consistent and moving quick enough so that you don’t have any slow points in the book, I really appreciate that.

It makes for a truly enjoyable read. Cannot recommend this book/ series enough, it will be an asset to your imagination and to your bookshelf! Thank you, Sarah J. Maas, I truly look forward to whatever you publish in the future.

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book has all spoilers tagged, so you won’t be spoiled unless you want to! MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK: It took me a week to fly by the finale.

Overall, I’d like to note that I believe ACOWAR is a stronger finale. I think because there were more life-or-death instances occurring during the battles of ACOWAR. HOWEVER, Aelin was 10000% more involved in the war than Feyre ever was in her own.

So take what you will from my urinate -poor comparison. CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS: Aelin: okay WOW. After hating her throughout the novels off-and on, it was nice to be fully behind my homegirl for this finale.

I loved that she still had surprises, even at the very end. People got mad over (view spoiler) thereby breaking her promise. But I think this truly showed her maturing. Just like when she didn’t want to (view spoiler) At least, not like she used to, back in her Dark Days.

Aelin truly grows in this novel, and it was a joy to see her story. She continues to inspire me. Fun fact! Every time I read a ToG novel, it makes me want to exercise, be fearless, and be confrontational.

Thank you to this awe-inspiring character. I already feel the need to reread these books over and over. Fun fact #2: I am the same age as Aelin————————- SJM, I need some answers. Why have I not either just become the long-lost queen and found my true love, OR been captured by the Spring Court and will soon find my true love THAT way—- I’m very disappointed.

Rowan: I needed more Rowan for this novel to be 5/5 stars. I love Rowan. He’s one of my fave characters, and I think he is perfect. For Aelin. Hehe. I don’t think we see him grow in this, not like other characters, and he was really just a hot side-piece for what I love abt SJM’swriting: romance, and fated mates <3.

Chaol: It was disappointing, after Tower of Dawn, to not see too much of Chaol. I KNOW! I’ve done a complete 180. I didn’t care about the guy before, but his focused instalment made me interested in one of the only humans in this novel.

WERE. EVERYTHING. THEY HAS USURPED MY LOVE FOR ROWAELIN. THEY ARE THE #1 COUPLE IN THIS INSTALMENT. I NEED A SEQUEL SPECIFICALLY FOR MORE LORIDE/ELORCAN(– what’s their ship name halp). I NEED MORE FANART AND SIDE STORIES OF THEM PLEASE.

The Cadre: (view spoiler) Feyrs was such a wholesome character, but also I stopped caring about him once the battles started. Oops. But yay the feels of all of Maeve’s slaves becoming Aelin’s men! <3 :') Dorian: HE IS SO IMPORTANT IN THIS STORY BUT BARELY GETS A CONCLUSION.

Give. Me. More. I have always loved Dorian bby, he’s what hooked me in book 1. Manon: (view spoiler) Manon’s ice heart melted. I cried and cried for her. The Thirteen: Chapter 89. (view spoiler) They are the reason (view spoiler) Fight me.

Maeve and Erawan: Tbh. I don’t care about writing anything about them. Surprise, surprise, Maeve is bad. Erawan is. Blurgh. I hated the King from ACOWAR more. (view spoiler) Aedion and Lysandra: Honestly.

Their side of the war was so boring. And took way too long for a reunion. If you love action and the witches: you’ll love their sections. But I’m here for the romance, bby! (view spoiler) Nesryn and the Antica Royals: most irrelevant thing ever.

Tower of Dawn should have only been Chaol getting healed, and finding out abt the stagian spiders. Fin. ALSO: How amazing was page 800- If you can’t remember what happened. Hint: Feyrhys PLOT: Um. Tbh.

It’s almost 1000 pages, but after (view spoiler) it’s just all about the battles. Not too much plot. Just. War. But it made me like war, for once. Usually, I’m like hmm I disapprove. But dang. I was so proud of each soldier.

STRUCTURE: There are two parts to this book. Book 1: Aelin is trapped with Maeve, early battles begin. Book 2: Epic battles go on. Lots of action. When I hit 50%, I started to get sad about saying goodbye.

To my friends, to this world. I got very sentimental. I enjoyed part 1 more, but the finale, of course, was so god darn beautiful to witness. Everyone gets married and lives happily ever after (I’m super duper oversimplifying it of course).

If I want to see my innocent younglings, I will read ToG and CoM. If I want Rowan, I’ll read HoF. If I want to cry, I’ll read QoS. Then, if I want to consolidate this series, I GUESS I’ll venture into EoS and KoA.

I love this series and this book was an epic conclusion. Sarah J. Maas’ ability to give so much depth to her characters and storyline is so much fun to read. A great ending to a 7 book series, which is hard to achieve! I loved the intricacies between the crossing of worlds, what is ‘good’, and how heroes can be morally ambiguous and make tough decisions.

And let’s not downplay the epic magic and war scenes!.

This review was first published on Kurt’s Frontier. Synopsis: Kell lives as one of the last two Antari. Antari are magicians able to travel between specific points in parallel worlds. This point is London, of which there are three: Red, Grey, and White.

Once there was a Black London which no one speaks of now, save in whispers. Kell’s home is in Red London, called Arnes by the locals of this world. Kell serves as ambassador between the Londons, traveling to White London with constant bloody regime changes and Grey London which exists without magic.

Kell also smuggles little trinkets between the worlds. When an exchange goes wrong, Kell escapes to Grey London and gets robbed by Delilah Bard, who then saves him from a deadly enemy. Kell takes her to Red London where dangerous magic and treachery lurk at every turn.

Review: I usually don’t pick up alternative world stories as they tend to be confusing. I almost didn’t pick it up. I’m glad I did. The worlds were different enough that I could keep track of which was which.

V. E. Schwab uses elemental-based magic, a good grounding point for magical systems. The interplay between the characters proved to be fun. Kell is a magician who can walk between worlds with the dangerous and highly illegal hobby of smuggling.

When he unwittingly smuggles a magical object from Black London, events are set in motion that leads him to Delilah Bard, a Grey London pickpocket who wants a proper adventure. What followed kept me turning the pages.

I already picked up the two sequels in the series.

I hadn’t successfully read and finished a book in just over 2 years until I read this. I started reading it during a a bad flare up and ended up finishing it and the other 2 books currently in the series.

I love it! I love the way it’s written, I love the world, I love the magic and I especially love Kell and Lila. I highly recommend this series if you love fantasy and magic. Victoria Schwab has fast become one of my favourite authors and I have now almost finished her Villains books (Vicious and Vengeful) and am hoping to read quite a few more before the end of the year.

It also brought back my love of reading and I have read quite a few other books, not written by her, too. Oh and I did some nail art and a painting inspired by the books, as well. #bookworm.

I first reviewed this on my blog. Kell is Antari, one of only two left in the worlds. He can use blood magic to open doors between alternate Londons – Red London, White London and Grey London. He has been raised as a son of the Red London royal family, brother to Rhy, the heir to the throne of Red London.

Kell uses his magic to travel between Londons, delivering letters between the monarchs of these alternate cities. However Kell also smuggles items between the cities, something that is not only dangerous but treasonous.

At one time there was free movement between the Londons. There was a Black London. But when the magic in Black London posed a threat to those in the alternates the doors between the worlds were sealed and any remnant of Black London destroyed.

Now only Antari can traverse the worlds, Kell and the only other Antari, Holland who answers to the cruel monarchs of White London. In magic-less Grey London, there’s a thief, a cross-dressing thief who is desperate for an adventure.

Lila sees herself as a Pirate without a ship. She just needs to find a ship so she can leave London and embark upon her long-held dream. When Lila picks the pockets of a stranger she has no idea that this particular crime will lead her on an adventure that will surpass her wildest dreams.

She and Kell quickly become partners on a mission to save all of the worlds. Upon finishing this book I marked it 5 stars on Goodreads and pondered upon how to review it. In the end I opted for one word – “BRILLIANT“.

I stand by that one word review, I don’t think I can find any other words to do it justice! V. E. Schwab has created a truly brilliant world (or worlds I guess). Her writing is stunning. Her world building is awesome.

The first few chapters are very much scene setting, but I could have read a whole book just like that! Schwab created well-rounded characters that I really cared about; not just Kell and Lila but Rhy too.

The dynamic between Kell and Lila, and the building of their relationship is really interesting to watch. The relationship between Kell and Rhy is clearly a special one, which only enhances how much I care about these two characters.

I loved the ideas in this book. Loved the way Schwab conveyed them. I loved the action, the magic, the danger and the coat with multiple sides. I loved, loved, loved it all!!.

Absolutely beautiful book. VE Schwab is a beautiful author. One of my favorite books of all time. It’s a smaller hardcover (then normal). But still absolutely stunning. Happy to have it in my collection.

Vicious is a true page turner with an amazing plot, characters and is one of my all time favourites. I have not felt such addiction to a book in such a long time and after I felt disappointed by A Darker Shade of Magic, this definitely made V.

E. Schwab one if my all time favourite authors. My only problem here though is the lack of diversity but overall, it’s perfect.

I didn’t realize the new hardcover of the UK vicious was limited edition and it had sold out. I was very upset but thankfully I found a nice copy. It looks amazing with all my other books and came with a nice library cover to keep the dust jacket pristine.

SPOILERS WARNING !! I got this book due to bookTok hype but Oh God! Have I been disappointed !! Don’t get me wrong,the writing is beautiful but the character is so bland( apart from luc). I would have loved to read about luc’s point of view instead of Henry( he was so boring)!! And in 300 years of life all Addie travelled is Europe and USA, how boring of immortality she had!! And her story is all revolved around her multiple lover( it is mentioned like we living in 16th century, like its ground breaking)!! Although good writing i don’t feel empathy towards Addie!! And i don’t get her anger towards Luc in regards to Henry!! Henry made his choice!! Even with lifetime He was supposed get old and die and would Addie had surrendered?? I don’t guess so!! Also henry and addie, is that even love? I didn’t feel like it at all!! Its just he was human who remembered her!! And there is more chemistry between Luc and Addie than with Henry!! And i don’t even want to start about 7 freckles and black curly hair!!.

If I am honest it wasn’t what I was expecting based on Schwab’s previous works. But that said this book has soul. You find yourself yearning for Addie to come out on top of the world. I was simultaneously jealous of her and heartbroken for her at the same time, constantly praying for a happy ending.

The story is slow paced and jumps between time lines which are two things that usually put me off a book but the depth of the characters and that emotional chain the story had locked on me propelled me through the pages as though it was an action packed thrill ride.

I would recommend this to everyone.

I had seen so many great reviews of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab before I finally picked it up, and that always makes me nervous. But this one certainly lived up to the hype. It was an intriguing premise, a young lady makes a deal with darkness, an unending life for her soul, but in doing so cannot leave a mark on the world or be remembered by anyone.

Hooked already, before I got past the first chapter! Addie LaRue is a ballsy woman, she was determined and resourceful and reading her journey through the centuries was an experience (and also heartbreaking).

I don’t do spoilers so I would just say that this book delivers, it sits between myth and reality and is oh so clever! This was my first novel by Victoria Schwab but I am going to check a few more out now! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5).
