20 Best Vegan Dha Supplement (2022 Updated)

I like the size and overall experience of the actual pills. They are slightly squishy, coated with some sort of sweet substance (sweet, in my opinion) and easy to swallow. I don’t really trust any brands out there when it comes to fish oil and quality so I decided to go a cleaner route and find a vegan source.

So there is absolutely no fishy smell or anything off putting about this product. I’ve been using it in my daily routine (1 in the morning, 1 before sleep) and all I know is that I feel better and even more energized/myself taking it verses not taking it.

Now, I am not saying that that effect is due to this supplement alone but I do consider it an essential supplement, regardless if I am able to ingest any omegas from my diet or not. I think that this product has potentially been a culprit of better skin in regards to hormonal pimples so there’s that and I feel healthy overall.

The only thing I dislike about this product is the price and the fact that I struggle getting the lid to screw on properly every single time I use it. It gets old quick. But whatever. I definitely recommend this supplement and I’ve tried a few actual fish oils before.

This one is superior in my opinion so I will keep buying.

It’s been discovered that algal oil is really better for us than fish oil. Additionally, there are people like me, who are vegetarians and can’t take fish oil even if it were the superior product. I take a liquid algal oil, but I bought these for a family member who greatly prefers pills.

He loves them. He’s told me his dry eye has completely cleared up since he began taking the capsules, and his hair is shinier, his skin smoother. He finds the pills very easy to swallow, with none of that fishy burping.

(I wouldn’t be able to get the pills down, so I’m really happy with the liquid. I think these pills offer you very good value for your money. And you really can’t put a price on your health, can you?.

Great quality product, good value for money. I love 3 for 2 option and it really means a lot, since both of kids and myself take Opti3. I have searched for a long time for algae based product, since omegas we need originally come from algae.

Most of products I found on market had only DHA or EPA, and I needed product with cca 1000mg of dha and epa in one dose. Most products have below 500mg in a daily dose, which was low for our needs. Furthermore, I needed clean product: no sweeteners, flavours, additives, preservatives etc.

began feeling relief of aching arthritic joints after taking for 3 days. kind of amazing. I take two per day, with breakfast and dinner. Only thing I don’t like is I get fishy aftertaste. I read at other sources that to avoid, I should take with food and that it helps if I keep Omega capsules in the freezer.

Helps somewhat, but the aftertaste is still there. The pain relief is worth it, so I will keep taking.

I’ve been on a organic vegan diet for the last couple of years. I started experiencing some effects of b12 deficiency a few months ago which led to me starting my search for a plant based organic B12 supplement.

And to my surprise, they were really hard to find. I can’t say this one is perfect because I’m not entirely sure the dicalcium phosphate is 100% necessary but, it’s a lot more healthy and clean than just about any other supplement I’ve found.

I’ve been taking this particular supplement for a couple of weeks now and I’m definitely noticing my cognitive abilities are steadily increasing and I definitely don’t feel as constantly fatigued anymore.

I’ve been buying this vegan Omega from Naturelo for a while, but unfortunately last time I noticed they changed the capsule, and for my husband and I who literally despise the smell and taste of fish, this change was horrible.

I can not take this vitamin anymore. Last time I almost threw up 🤭 I really liked the capsule how it was before. It was thicker but it didn’t smell like this one. I contacted customer service and I’m still waiting for them to let me know if there is something wrong with my capsules.

DHA is docosahexanoic acid made by algae considered from vegetation sources. The vegan claim about algae is debatable. But DHA improves memory function. For me, I only take 1 gel cap every 2-3 days when I need concentration in the daytime, because lipids tend to have psychotropic neurological medication interactions and cause those other meds headed to the brain.

Because DHA is a 22:6 fatty acid to a substitution reaction replacing methyl group with carboxylic acid group, the binding coefficient to other neurological meds have to be considered. That’s why I chose to limit my intake.

DHA for me is effective 6-8 hours, afterward, I have a slow down in mental clarity. There are other products of vegan derived sources. But not all lipid ligands have been identified in organism based pharmacology.

In recent years, I have become concerned about mercury contamination and stopped taking fish oils in favour of plant-based omega 3 options. I have also limited my consumption of fish in many respects, because of the risk of mercury poisoning.

While there are some fish oil brands that are responsible in procuring and processing fish oils and have certified processes in place, I feel more comfortable with algae as a DHA/EPA supplement. It’s also more sustainable than using fish sources.

I have a liver that acts up at times with too much fat or oil in my diet. I love this product because it does not contain either of those as it comes from a vegetable source. I know that DHA is what the brain utilizes the most & is more important than EPA which is in most fish oils.

I love this capsules! Not only do they provide adequate DHA to a vegan diet (like myself), but they taste great. I am not one to espouse and praise anecdotes (look at the data and research everyone), but I feel like I have noticed a difference after consuming these everyday for over two months now (after years of very very poor O3 consumption).

I ordered a bottle of the Omega-3 mini soft gels, but never used any. When I was reading reviews on it, I read one that was saying they loved it, and especially since it contained no carrageenan. Then I read another review that said it did contain carrageenan, but did not list that as an ingredient.

I really wanted to try this for my husband and myself for several reasons, so I ordered it, figuring that they must have changed to not using carrageenan after the man who noted it had written his review.

To be on the safe side, I emailed the company. I got a fast, very courteous reply, stating that the carrageenan was not in the algae oil, but only in the soft gel cover, and not degraded into a more harmful form.

They also said that they were working to find something else to use rather than this particular substance, but right now, this is the only thing they can use on a vegetarian product. I almost decided to take them, but I have colon cancer in the family, so why even take a small added risk? Carrageenan in illegal in Europe, but still allowed in the U.

S. , because, among other things, they think it may cause colon cancer. I just feel this company should state on the bottle that it contains it, like other companies do. If they change their product, I would certainly try it, from what other reviews say about it.

Fish oil is not only loaded with contaminants that can never be fully purified out no matter what a label claims, but it takes up a sickening amount of fish to produce a tiny amount of oil. I was tested last August, 2021 for a full work up of all my blood levels as I had just been diagnosed a diabetic. A month later, I started taking IWI Cholesterol and watched my cholesterol drop in November and now again in March, 2022 when I just had my last blood work done.

Usually when you are diagnosed with diabetes, the protocol is to start you on Metformin and cholesterol medicine. My doctor looked at my blood test and said “your cholesterol is excellent – I’m going against protocol and not putting you on another medication”.

Since I started taking IWI Cholesterol, my total cholesterol is down 12 points, Triglycerides are down 15 points, LDL is down 11 points and Non HDL is down 13 points. I really haven’t done anything differently or changed my diet significantly outside of sugar elimination and high carbs due to diabetes and I still eat meat daily.

I have heard that lots of Omega 3 pills taste fishy, even algae-based ones. I”ve had about 15 of these (1 per day), eaten with food, and can say there”s absolutely no taste to them when swallowing or after.

Algae-based Omega 3 is a good vitamin D supplement and Omega 3 supplement, which may have benefits for cognition in later stages of life (See Dr. Greger on Omega 3). I haven”t tried others, but I generally trust Spectrum, and I”m pleased with with the flavor so far.

Who knows about whether or not it”s actually beneficial though. But if you”re plant-based, it may be a useful source of Omega 3.

I ordered a bottle of Spectrum Vegan Omega-3 along with a bottle of Ovega-3 brand Vegan Omega-3 to see which one I would like better. As I also posted in the Ovega-3 review, when I opened both bottles, there was a CLEAR difference in smell.

The Spectrum bottle smelled totally neutral, but the Ovega-3 bottle had a chemical smell. The best way to describe it is it smelled like a fresh coat of paint. If both are vegan Omega-3, I am going to go with the one that smells more natural.

I love that there is a vegan alternative for Omega-3.

Vitamins are essential for the human body, especially as you age and your body starts to lack certain things. Which is why we take different vitamins for whichever that person is lacking/needing. This is a great vegan alternative with algae. I was pleased to find this product at a reasonable price. It does not have any unpleasant after taste and is easy to swallow. Arrived in expected time frame.

I love Natural factors as a brand but this product quality control issues. I have had at least 4 bottles, 2 of them had issues. 1 they were cloudy the actual capsules Natural factors sent me replacement.

I also had another bottle I had purchased, same expiry date, this one when opened (kept under optimal conditions etc), OIL ALL OVER THE PLACE, CAPSULES HAD COME OPEN all over the place, capsules were come done.

I love look of the product but I will NOT be repurchasing and contacting Natural Factors again to say what the heck oil all over my hands is not normal!.

I’m not sure what went wrong here. This pill is advertised as having no smell but after about 3 weeks, I opened it up one day and it smelt like the sea. I don’t mind that smell, but it made me doubt if it’s safe to consume.

The smell got progressively stronger as the days went by which prompted me to throw it out. Perhaps I just got a bad batch but it was disappointing. While I was still using it, I did feel it was helping me so it’s not all bad.

Definitely a really high quality supplement given you get a good batch.

I started taking this supplement, a vegan softgel once a day, somewhere in March 2019. A month or so later ( in April) I noticed that some pain in the heart area have gone and I felt and still feel more relax.

I noticed also other health benefits.
